#artenoise#ki101#wizard101#pirate101#like i have no issue with dragonspyre as a world but the extent that it's use to generate more hype is getting old#the mali the undying stuff with AZ and darkmoor and then the catacombs#and now this new pirate update#like it doesn't even matter if it doesn't make much sense like the young battledrake mount#DS is the cash cow even more than WC because they know people that played up to the end of DS or DM have some fondness for it#but it's getting so sour and overused imo#like if mali the undying didn't happen and get resolved ten years ago i would've bet real money they would've pulled it now#but they bank so heavily on the nostalgia but it isn't even that good of a world#the pacing comes to a screeching halt once you reach ashley#and the weakness spam is really tilting if you're trying to get it done in a day or two#but it's also not bad it still has the best aesthetics and ideas and doesn't feel like One Thing#like how wallaru is Just Australia or zafaria is Just Africa#and the atmosphere is great it gives off this post protagonist feel ig. where it feels like any other game would have you doing stuff#during the invasion. but no. it's just an active graveyard#that's the other thing the more KI tries to expand on it the less harrowing and mysterious it feels#which is a huge bummer.#even if the catacombs was cool#i know this is a long ass ramble but dude after seeing the new pirate update im just. bruh.#Yaknow

So I followed the Russian coup for most of the time it was active, I think I have a good handle on what happened. The end feels like the last season of a television show where they've been unexpectedly cancelled and the writers decided to make an ending that makes no sense to the actors or the people watching the show.
#serious stuff in the tags#i think the most sensible takes i've seen#is that his forces were moving faster than he expected#he wasn't at all prepared for an actual battle in Moscow#he had no capacity to actually hold Moscow even if he had the capability to take it#they reached a deal that I'd call a face saving deal but I think neither man actually saved actual face#putin is weaker just by virtue of strong men who have military coups that don't end in crushing the coup don't look strong#the wagner pmc is basically dead as a functional military unit#which has probably even wider implications for Russian foreign policy in Africa than Ukraine#no one seems to think pringles war criminal will live to see a natural death#the merc's are pissed#but i bet the Russian troops and national guard soldiers who switched sides are even more pissed#ukrainians had fun with their popcorn were happy to keep up their summer offensive#with an enemy that now is likely even more distrustful of each other than before

Speaking of Ancient Egyptians : I had a Moroccan classmate who looked EXACTLY like that Osiris statue so they had to have used a real model and that model had to be his ancestor, he has to have an Ancient Egyptian who moved at some point to the North West of Africa because HOLY SHIT I SWEAR it's him just without a moustache and whenever I show this statue to anyone who knows him they are amazed and shocked to agree it IS him 100%

#pretty much confirms what i always say#americans are just better#genuinely believe there is something special about being american that imbues a people with a quality that makes them greater#american whites are scoring up there with the top asian countries -- well about any europeans#unsurprisingly so are our asians#our mixed races are scoring higher than most of europe too#our hispanics are scoring higher than all hispanic countries -- they're scoring up there with israel#our blacks are scoring higher than greece and mexico -- if africa was included i'd bet they would score higher than all of it#seriously there's just something special about being american -- we are blessed by the gods -- we're their favorite#european americans are greater than europeans#african americans are greater than africans#asian americans are greater than asians#and so on#and i'm not JUST talking about test scores here#but i do want to get back to the test scores#this just goes to show that the american education system -- despite its flaws -- is still world class#america just can't stop winning

Just a quick note to followers, although I am following The Ocean Race, I likely won’t be blogging about it. There is only so many hours in the day!
Frankly, using the IMOCA foils in the Southern Ocean on a super LONG leg seems to me a recipe for disaster because the ability to slow down and not speed up is key.
Talk about alarms ringing and being in continual crisis management on the boats. Thank g*d they are using an autopilot to steer the boats, because the crews have enough to contend with…And let’s not talk about difficulties eating, drinking, being sea sick while attending to one’s natural needs combined with the biggest sleep deficits known to sailors.
Anyway, I sincerely hope that I am wrong about this iteration of The Ocean Race. Especially since they have announced that the IMOCAs will be used for the next iteration of the The Ocean Race and the The Ocean Race Europe as well.
NO BETS on the number of boats who will actually finish this race.

Jellyfish identification reddit my beloved (<- and JellyfishWarehouse my beloved)
#I'm honestly not the best at differentiating between different species but it's ok :)#tbh i'm not 100% sure that the jellyfish was a chrysaora pacifica bc there's usually some reddish pigment in there#but#it's the closest one we've got and the most popular ones kept in aquariums#someone else mentioned the chrysaora quinqincirreha(?) and that seems like a likely option#though usually it is ghostly white and doesn't have the same striking stripes that the image does#it reminds me more of the sea nettles that are found around parts of Africa but I haven't done enough research on them to be 100% sure#chrysaora pseudocelata is such a funny name to me tho#um#anyways I should rly learn how to differentiate octants in a jellyfish#because that's like the number 1 way to differentiate between species#they are radially symmetrical so they have 8 parts#number of tentacles is surprisingly important too#the chrysaora pacifica (japanese sea nettle) has 40 tentacles while the chrysaora melanaster (northern sea nettle) has 24#the difference is also pretty staggering with the closely related chrysaora achlyos and chrysaora colorata (black sea nettle and purple str-#-iped sea nettle respectively). can't remember which one has more but my bet is on the c. achlyos#mun rambles#jellyfish#chrysaora pacifica
