Woke up from a dream in which Dracula welcomed Jonathan with a rendition of Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast. So glad I wrote it down:

Be Our Guest

By me and my best friends (we're building it in minecraft 😭)

A story about a detective and his assistant Aubrey running an investigation on a mental institution. When they arrive, the detective realizes something is clearly wrong, and soon finds his assistant vanished as well.

lolol my school is doing beauty and the beast for our spring musical and be our guest is so much fun because during that one sad solo lumiere has I literally have to cling onto my friend and sob and its so fucking funny to me

These of course are the more upbeat and catchy showstopper numbers that were often (with some exceptions) sung by the comic relief/sidekick characters and/or used in a lot of the marketing for these movies (Topsy Turvy for Huncback, Zero to Hero for Hercules, and Friend Like Me for Aladdin being the most notable examples).

🥀 I haven’t drawn Belle in quite a while. Back in 2020, I had drawn her holding Aladdin’s lamp. Quite similarly to what I do when drawing Ariel, whenever I’m drawing Belle, I refer back to drawings and scenes done by her two supervising animators, James Baxter and Mark Henn. Both animators handled Belle differently artistically. Henn mostly animated Belle while he was at Disney’s satellite studio in Florida and did more footage of her than Baxter. Henn’s scenes are of her first encounter with the Beast, her sneaking into the West Wing, the “Something There” sequence, and the Beast’s death and resurrection scene. Baxter depicted Belle as a mature and sophisticated and it proved a perfect balance with Henn’s interpretation of the character as a sweet, warm, and curious girl. 🥀
