Marine biology nerd reacts to Wuthering Waves fishing minigame! Part 1

Hi, I have a BA in biology with an unofficial specialization in marine bio (my college didn't offer anything more specific) so I love everything that has to do with sea critters, and since my enthusiasm about salps got positive reception, I would love to yap about some fun facts relevant to the obtainable fish present in the new fishing minigame in Wuthering Waves 🐟🌊

We're going to start with the...

Fried Egg Jellyfish

The fried egg jellyfish in Wuthering Waves looks like a pretty out-of-pocket design, but fried egg jellies are, in fact, real animals!

Sharing this photo again of one I took near a body of water in my region -- they do legitimately look like fried eggs. 😂 They belong to the genus Phacellophora and are found in most of the world's oceans. (Not to be confused with Cotylorhiza tuberculata, which is also called the "fried egg jellyfish" but is a different species.)

I'm not sure if it varies by region, but where I live, the best time to see them is between mid-July and mid-August, when they appear in droves -- so I see them often enough that I was positively ticked to see them featured in Wuthering Waves essentially unaltered. The caveat would be the note about them purportedly tasting like fried eggs; while some species of jellyfish are indeed edible when prepared properly, I'm not sure about this one specifically, so I can't say I endorse trying -- and even if they are, they probably don't taste like eggs, as jellyfish supposedly bears little to no flavor.

Yarn Eel

I'm going to guess this one is a play on the real animal called the ribbon eel, which is indeed quite colorful, but not necessarily found in large knots. Apparently, while they don't do so well in captivity, they can live for up to twenty years in the wild! (So, depending on who all is reading this... there might be ribbon eels out there that are your age or older. 👀)

Sob Blob

Many of us might be familiar with the infamous, meme-worthy photo of the "blobfish" on which this critter is quite clearly based. However, did you know that said photograph does not accurately portray what blobfish usually look like?

Blobfish live on the seabed at depths of up to over nine thousand (!!!) feet; to maintain their integrity against the immense pressure at that depth, the blobfish's soft tissues are full of water and fat. So if a blobfish were to get caught in a net and very abruptly moved to sea level, where the pressure is much lower, its "water-logged" tissues effectively explode, giving it the unnatural "blob" appearance featured in the infamous photo.

This is a real blob sculpin shown in its natural habitat -- and in a much more fish-shaped state! Moreover, unlike the in-game Sob Blob, blobfish don't have a lot of natural predators and can get away with a rather sedentary lifestyle in which they remain largely stationary unless it's absolutely necessary for them to move. Moisturized, unbothered, flourishing.

And, saving probably my favorite featured critter of the bunch for last:

Salp

Salps are much less well-known critters than any of the ones I've described so far, I think! Aside from in Wuthering Waves, I've only ever heard mention of them in the 2007 video game Endless Ocean (of which I was also a huge fan back when I had a Wii). I would say they're not prominent in popular culture by any stretch of the imagination, as far as I'm aware.

Salps are tunicates, a type of marine invertebrate that is nevertheless part of the phylum Chordata that includes all vertebrates, as tunicates possess notochords (the embryonic precursor to the vertebral column), as well as other chordate features, in their larval stage. In this case, the in-game description is at least partially accurate, as salps are a key component of the marine ecosystem and are thought to be a food source for a great many other animals, including fish and seabirds -- though it's difficult to tell exactly which ones, since they're gelatinous and don't leave behind much evidence of being eaten in their predators' digestive tracts. They're also purportedly one of the fastest-growing multicellular animals in the world.

Their life cycle involves an alternation between solitary and "chain" phases depending on the generation. While the salps' in-game entry describes them as sometimes "too small to bother with," IRL the biggest salp colonies can literally grow to lengths of one hundred feet!

Iterator Spec Bio (Part 1)

I'm probably going to upload each one in it's own post, but here's an introduction to what this is going to be.

See, I've been trying to explain how iterators synthesize nutrients for a while, and have FINALLY started properly developing it. All this stuff from now on is just words I've copied from my existing master document of the subject at hand.

FOREWARNING

The definition of organ that I will use for iterator is a region or room within the structure of the iterator designated to a specific purpose. The Memory Conflux is an organ. This does not define the systems that connect them, however, such as the areas between RTA, MC, and GSB within Five Pebbles. I will also use node, organ, and colony interchangeably. Many organs are hidden away in other areas or even within the walls. These are the more “dangerous” ones. Rather, the environments within these organs are so extreme that no standard living creature could survive in them, or that being closed off is integral to their functioning.

Primary Chemosynthetic Node (PCN)

The Primary Chemosynthetic Node is the most integral part of iterator metabolism, and acts as the starting point. Hence the name “Primary” PCNs are sponge-like cubes which intake boiling fluid filled with noxious chemicals, such as many sulfur compounds. They are rather small. Within the lining of this manifold are many many colonies of small worms (referred to as “Tube Worms”) filtering the chemical-filled water. These worms work with symbiotic microbes in order to produce usable organic compounds, which flow into a central cavity to be used by other organs. This mimics conditions near hydrothermal vents, though it requires a constant source of heat powered by electricity in order to function. These nodes are often lined in rows, and may be very long. An iterator will contain multiple PCNs. There may be multiple tanks for intake and for outtake.

As demonstrated in the image, there are 3 distinct organisms within the colonial structure of the node. - The insulating membranous layer, which stores excess nutrients and helps regulate conditions. - A tough epidermal layer, with individuals containing a flagellum which controls waterflow through the manifold. - Tube Worms, which anchor to the epidermal layer.

Small, shelled organisms pick off dead Tube Worms. They’re extremophiles, and will die once taken out of the PCN for an extended amount of time. This is used to an advantage, as these organisms will travel to other organisms to decompose and reuse resources when near death, or when commanded to through chemical signals distributed in the node. However, I will be exploring this more on a different post elaborating more on the organisms specialized in decomposition and the disposal of dead or dying matter.

Soundwave | Transformers Prime

“Transformers in Prime have a trend in their design; The more inhuman they are, the bigger a threat you can assume them to be. Soundwave follows this beyond just ~being pointy~ by being unnatural *even by Cybertronian standards*: Digitigrade legs shared by no other character, long arms that reach past his knees (which also very effectively communicate that he's flight capable without giving him wings on his back), a visor that covers his entire face, not even giving the impression of eyes. Glowing purple biolights on his chest, stomach and thighs where his armour is thinnest. He's the only character with an Earth alternate mode that can't carry passengers. A microcosm of this can be found in the design of his hands, if you can call them that: One finger less than standard, two knuckles per finger instead of three, they're unnaturally long and thin, and missing most of the palm and wrist (Like his fingers were grafted straight onto the end of his arm). And on the "Unnatural by Cybertronian standards" bit, his weapons don't fold out of his forearms like most other characters; he has two long tentacles (with smaller tendrils that come out of the opening on their ends, used to electrocute, ringed by four metal prongs used for grabbing or drilling) that come out from underneath his chestplate, which is itself secretly a flying drone! It's really clever how Laserbeak is integrated into Soundwave's design, made as seamless as possible, even when you know that Laserbeak is there! And that's not the only part of his design emphasising his stealth: Gun to your head, what colour is Soundwave? Oh, you can't tell because his plating seems to change colour from scene to scene? That's on purpose! His armour looking like a medium blue in bright day and pitch black at night (or purple, on the Nemesis) helps him blend in with the sky no matter what time it is! Every part of his character is focused on emphasising his stealth, his threat/intimidation factor, and his inhumanity to make for an incredible character design.”

“When she's 8, she dresses identically to her dad (which is mentioned at least once in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney). At some point after being adopted by Phoenix Wright, she changed the color to blue (notable for being Phoenix's main color) instead of red. She was born to two magicians of Troupe Gramarye, and she absolutely looks the part; not just does her outfit resemble her bio dad's to a T, but she looks the part of a magician. Like it feels like whoever designed her said "How can we make this girl look like a stage magician and give her resemblance to her biological dad?" She just looks exactly how you'd expect a stage magician to look. Also, when she doesn't have her hat on, she has little tufts of hair that resemble Apollo's, which was done to indicate that they're half-siblings.”

Transformers Outsiders Cast

Im not like- the most happy with how Optimus turned out, but other than that im pretty happy with everything. Ill also write down some Bios for characters rq and add some other info

Optimus Prime

Formerly known as Orion Pax, Optimus Prime was once a lowly cargo runner between Cybertron's colonies with his best friend Dion. Though he wouldn't acquire the Matrix of leadership until much later in life, the moment he truly became Optimus was on the day his best friend died, having thrown himself between Orion and an enraged Senate Functionary, taking a shot to the chest meant for Orion. Orion didn't make it out easy however, as the shot managed to pierce Dion's back and hit him anyway, damaging his Transformation cog and leaving him prone to walking with a limp. Having made it out with his life, Orion was able to get reassigned to Archival work following the aid of Senator Crosscut. Years later Orion would find himself becoming close friends with another senator by the name of Megatron, only for Megatron to turn on him when Orion refused to overlook Megatron's plot to seize control of Cybertron through violence. Orion would "die" during the Siege of the grand Imperium, only to be rebuilt by a lowly street medic named Ratchet after being carried out of the building by Crosscut and Trailbreaker. Rebuilt and reborn, Optimus Prime would awaken months later and proceeded to lead the rebellion against Megatron's newly formed government.

Trailbreaker

More special than he knows, Trailbreaker acts as Optimus Prime's loyal second in command, having been one of the founding members of the Autobots. Trailbreaker is a former member of the Elite Guard who tends to struggle finding his place in any room, be it due to his formidable size, or just his overwhelming doubt in his own abilities. Before the war, Trailbreaker lost his left hand to a trophy hunter by the name of Lockdown, and with it, one of his many Force-field emitters. Though he mourns the loss of his hand, his focus has become more on finding Lockdown and bringing him down.

Sideswipe

A former streetrat, and the single best pilot to ever walk Cybertron, Sideswipe has a history of neglecting orders. Keen when it comes to individuality, Sideswipe holds a rather rocky relationship with his Sister Sunstreaker, worsened still by Sunstreaker's decision to join the Decepticons. Though he lacks any formal training, his combat style has proven highly effective in keeping himself and others alive. He might be rough around the edges, but Optimus knows he wants whats best for everyone.

Bluestreak

The single greatest shot Cybertron has ever seen, Bluestreak's body is nearly 60% integrated firearms. Were Trailbreaker to ever step down as Optimus Prime's second in command, Bluestreak would be the next in line to take up the role, having served loyally beside Optimus since the very beginning. Among Optimus's inner circle, she is by far the most lethal, a fact that even he can recognize is difficult for her to come to terms with. Before the war, Bluestreak was a member of the Helix Garden staff in her home city of Praxus, where she tended to their vast plant array stemming all the way back to planets that have long since dwindled into entropy. It was before the war however that her city was wiped out in an act known as "Declaration Day." She was the only survivor. The Autobot Insignia itself was based on her head design, intended to act as a symbol of resistance.

Ratchet

Ratchet is still young, and as such, she has high expectations placed upon her. Between her role as Optimus Prime's medic, and her mentor Medix's placement in stasis following the ark crashing on earth, she tends to doubt how qualified she actually is for her position. even so, she has showcased time and again that she is destined for greatness. She is, afterall, the one to have saved Optimus Prime's life all those years ago. Thankfully she doesn't have to face it all alone, as she has the Ark's medical VI, CatSCAN there to help her.

Cliffjumper

The youngest of Optimus Prime's crew, Cliffjumper was forged during the war, and as such never knew what Cybertron was like before it. its perhaps for this reason that Earth has become more of a home for him than Cybertron ever was. He might be impulsive and hardheaded at times, but Optimus knows he's a reliable scout who's more than capable of standing his own. He's also quite close friends with the earthling named Spike, as well as his friends Chip and Carly.

Moonracer

The smallest of Prime's crew, Moonracer's height is that of a human making it sometimes difficult for her to stand out. Though once she acted as a mail delivery girl on Cybertron, she now serves as spy and scout for the Autobots. She has showcased a great deal of promise regarding firearms, and as such has been taken under Bluestreak's wing as something of a mentorship, though lacking in formality. She also tends to struggle to make herself heard.

Curios how creative director became a scapegoat while lead writer is almost unanimously treated as a victim who fought against “bad creative directions” however they could.

While I personally believe their writing was the best DAV offered (Solas), but story cohesion, pacing, inconsistent protagonist’ voice, overall confusion what is the game tries to teach us had many issues. It all comes under umbrella of what lead writer is responsible for. There is some hard pill to swallow: sometimes one can be a great writer, but lack what it takes to enable and provide leadership to people who follow.

It also concerns J E, of course. (Minus writing part. Sorry, but I don’t think you can just switch specialisations without compromising the quality of what you produce.)

I encourage everyone to find old panel discussion with ex creative director Mike Laidlaw and a couple more directors/leads of DAI. And compare segments on lore/characters with post Veilguard AMA.

Working in a AAA company myself, I can’t stress enough how integral good leadership and coherent game vision is. What I noticed happening at my place (and what I highly suspect happened at Bio) is big corporations motto “director/lead has left, let’s find replacement in the team. It’s both cheaper and they will onboard faster”. Candidate’s competence becomes secondary to history they had with a company. And it backfires more often than not. Because it also harder to give objective feedback on how good of a lead your pal you spent years having lunch with is. How they perform on a managerial position.

i 100% agree. i think to answer your original question; its literally just that epler has been more vocal and visible, both during marketing and post-release. trick has barely spoken about the game and thus we have nothing to go off of regarding their thoughts, but i agree that its not fair to completely exonerate them of all responsibility for the poor writing. epler just gave us a window into the thought process behind this game with his comments during that AMA that we have not gotten anywhere else, aside from a few tweets, and so he became the scapegoat. i think theres also something to say for he and corrinne being thrown on that AMA and all the interviews rather than someone trained in PR and marketing. i think trick was a fantastic writer, and i think epler was a fantastic cinematic designer. but those two jobs have nothing to do with leading an entire team. leadership and managerial skills are their own unique skillset that do not come naturally to most. people literally get entire masters degrees in such things. i think they both got put in impossible situations; roles that did not match their strengths

I honestly can't tell if the updated pronounce are genuinely reflective of your feelings or just the most committed I've ever seen someone to a bit (regarding your post on Bluesky). Either way, I respect the hell out it.

I'm not quite sure either. I've had a really complicated (and mostly frustrating) relationship with my gender since I was 17, starting with presenting online as full-on transfem until I came out to my family and gradually shoved myself back in the closet just cus of how abysmal existing felt at the time.

Then, while just reverting to presenting masc I ended up developing a YouTube following which has very much pissed me off in terms of how people perceive me. I knew I hated being referred to with he/him so I'm like... yea okay I'm nonbinary at least. Definitely not male.

I took a little TOO long to grapple with my gender identity though and now people will be calling me "he" forever unless I shove my pronouns in their faces... and not even then, usually.

I never liked touting around my queerness if I could help it just cus of family actively watching my channel but screw it idc, I'm nonbinary. I'm an adult. They can deal with it.

Of course, putting my pronouns in my channel bio wasn't enough for people to notice so I edited my pfp to have the NB colors. Recently I realized my hair has grown out a LOT more than I realized so I've totally overhauled my sona for my new pfp- making the colors even more integral to the design.

Believe it or not, even just the edited old pfp made people notice I was nb when the pronouns sitting right at the top of my channel didn't. New one's seeming to have the same effect. If you wonder why so many queer people are so outspoken about being queer, it's probably from people blissfully ignoring it at all costs unless you shake them by the shoulders and make them acknowledge a core aspect of your personhood.

All that said, the she I've slapped onto my pronouns is both For the Bit of "complying" with the tangerine's nonsensical EOs and also because I would like to revisit that part of myself again if I can find it.

Agroecology puts peasants and indigenous voices at the center. It seeks to preserve biocultural diversity and strengthen resilience while challenging existing power structures in the food system.

The ever-busy schedule at the Bio-Gardening Innovations (Biogi), a hands-on farmer training centre in Elununi, Vihiga County is a clear testament of how smallholder farmers are eager to learn about techniques that can help them remain productive despite the changing climatic conditions.

According to Ferdinand Wafula, the founder and coordinator of the training centre, farmers from Vihiga, and as far as Kakamega and Nandi counties, have been streaming in every week to learn about regenerating seeds so as to maintain unique traits and adaptability to local climates, health and fertility of soil through the use of ecological farming practices, and to mingle with other farmers from different parts of the region.

“We support smallholder farmers in transitioning to ecological farming systems by employing principles of agroecology, and we teach them about designing permaculture units that are both productive and sustainable, integrating crops and vegetative cover to create resilient ecosystems,” said Wafula.

Agroecology, an approach that blends ecological science with traditional farming knowledge, is emerging as a sustainable solution to the multiple challenges faced by agriculture today—rising input costs, soil degradation, water scarcity, and growing climate risks. By reducing reliance on chemical fertilisers and pesticides, promoting crop diversity, and prioritising soil health, agroecology offers a way forward that benefits both farmers and the environment.

Beetlewing Headcanon & Design

Bio: Beetlewings lived in the forests on the south end of Pyrrhia. They had four wings, a large horn on their heads, and came in all kinds of colors with iridescent scales. They had venom in their tails and fangs. They could produce silk from their wrists. They did not possess firebreath, but Flamesilk was a unique trait amongst some individuals. They were primarily frugivores but would supplement their diet with meat. Fencing with their horns was a common sport amongst dragonets.

History: Hundreds of years after the Scorching, a large group of Beetlewings and Leafwings would flee Pyrrhia to escape a war over territory perpetrated by neighboring firebreather tribes. The few that stayed on Pyrrhia were either killed in the conflict or found refuge in neutral tribes where they integrated but were eventually bred out of existence.

The species remained virtually unchanged until a few hundred years after Clearsight arrived in Pantala, when a fraction of the tribe split off from the rest over ideological and cultural disagreements regarding Clearsight. The now split population eventually became the Hivewings, deliberately breeding for strong venom users, while the original population, trending more towards pacifism, lost the use of their venom and became the Silkwings.

NASA has just confirmed something groundbreaking—Voyager 1 and 2 are coming home. After nearly five decades in interstellar space, both spacecraft will begin their return journey using a classified propulsion system secretly integrated into their design.

The plan was hidden from the public and Congress to prevent funding cuts. Ever since Apollo ended, Congress had been scaling back deep-space programs, so NASA kept this as a contingency.

Unlike their outward journey, which used gravity assists to escape the solar system, their return will rely on a gravitational recapture trajectory.

Jupiter and Saturn are perfectly aligned to provide back-to-back slingshots, boosting their speed to 78 km/s, nearly double their original velocity. Combined with high-efficiency ion thrusters, this will allow a rapid approach back toward Earth.

A key factor is the RTG nuclear battery reserve, a secret feature installed at launch. While the public specs listed only 470 watts of power, engineers had quietly included an additional 940-watt thermal energy reserve, intended for a controlled return if needed.

These RTGs will now activate the return thrusters, guiding both probes back into Earth’s gravitational influence.

NASA estimates reentry on 6/31/2037, over the Southern Hemisphere. The recovery plan ensures a controlled descent, preventing any risk of uncontrolled reentry.

Scientists are eager to analyze the spacecraft, which have endured nearly 50 years of deep-space exposure, providing rare data on long-term spaceflight durability.

For decades, Voyager was seen as a one-way mission. But this proves otherwise. The return of Voyager 1 and 2 will mark a historic moment—the first retrieval of an interstellar spacecraft and proof that no mission is truly final.

(Or The Flood in general?)

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, OOC Flood (?), "Stalking", Parasites, Graphic descriptions, Death, Violence, Kidnapping, Assimilation, Forced "companionship" (?)

The Flood in Halo is a sentient parasite made out of the space dust of ancient creators/gods (Not Kidding).

It lives to infect and assimilate all organic matter.

It seeks knowledge from assimilated prey and the technology they make.

Having a force of nature such as this obsessed with you? Your fate is sealed.

This is obviously going to be OOC, but let me share some thoughts I've been brewing.

Imagine if the Gravemind could keep a dormant Flood spore in you to communicate or track you.

You can't integrate into society anymore... you're a beacon for The Flood.

Having some sort of "alliance" with The Flood is interesting.

It's possible, we see this in Halo 3.

The Flood Graveminds are the center of a Flood infestation, a hivemind of knowledge.

Who knows why this specific Gravemind is interested in you?

The Flood have their own motives... it's a surprise it hasn't assimilated you into its mass yet.

Having a Gravemind interested in you is the equivalent of just having The Flood after you.

Which is terrifying as Combat Forms are fast and can even learn how to utilize technology such as vehicles.

Plus, there's a good chance you're already infected to some degree.

Not to the point of a Combat Form though, you're still you.

You just have spores deep within you, assimilating you just enough to make you connected to the Gravemind.

It always knows where you are, it can always communicate with your mind as there's spores lodged in there too.

You're, unfortunately, a lost cause.

You're both marked for death, yet also extremely protected.

Those you care about as assimilated and absorbed into the hivemind known as The Flood.

Which only ever gives the Gravemind more knowledge to utilize when communicating with you.

It's terrifying to see the mass of essentially corpses talk to you in poetic rhymes about your life.

The Flood/Gravemind has proven it can choose who it works with.

This is shown with Master Chief and The Arbiter when they had to stop the Halo array.

As long as it is appeased, you can live a long while.

However, most of what you know his Flood bio-matter coating various ships and buildings.

Along with a disturbing stench that smells like both sweat and decay.

Flood forms of all sorts roam around you, but they never attack.

The Gravemind has designated you as an ally.

I imagine the Gravemind would subject you to intellectual conversation.

You either try to find a spot not covered in organic matter to sit and listen... or the Gravemind just dangles you in the air by a tendril.

The intentions of The Flood is set to dubious, as you can't tell why it likes you so much.

All other sentient life is to be assimilated, being food and fodder for the growing infestation.

But you? The Gravemind keeps you around the chat.

It reminds you of the grip it has on you, that there's no escape for you... even if they send a Spartan.

Yet right afterwards the Gravemind offers strangely philosophical conversation.

The mass learns from you through conversation.

The Flood craves knowledge, so it listens eagerly.

Honestly, if someone tried to take you out of the Flood Den the Gravemind created, its defense mechanism is to first send as much Flood as it can to retrieve you.

If it cannot reclaim you... it activates the dormant spores in your body... quickly assimilating you into its network.

Essentially, if it can't keep you, no one can.

Except it will eventually get you in the end... forever part of its hivemind structure.

Safe to say the concept of The Flood being attached to you... is probably one of the most terrifying ideas... and the worst for you out of all the characters I've written.

Ever After High Reimagined: Daring Charming character bio/redesign.

Daring Charming

Younger Son of Prince Charming (English-Persian)

Daring Charming is heir to the Charming throne, and doesn't he know it. Apple Whites future prince charming, bold, gallant and oh so handsome if he doesn't say so himself (not to mention having an ego so large it creates its own gravity), Daring really does have it all… The crown prince of Ever After High's social scene, Daring is captain of the Bookball team,an integral part of the student council and probably prom and thronecoming king when those inevitably roll around, he's living an absolutely charming life if he doesn't say so himself! (That is if you don't count an upstart goth and a mysterious, renegade Knight trying to spoil his good time…)

Likes: Apple white, looking his fairest and working out,performing heroic deeds,bookball and adoring crowds of fans.

Dislikes: Raven Queen,villains, monsters and evildoers ,being upstaged, bad hair days and not having anything to do.

Spellbinding Style: proper princely clothes befitting of an heir to the throne, everything being a designer brand and in the shiniest golds, purest ivories or most regal of blues. And Darings never without his trusty crown to boot or his winning smile, though he does have to be careful with the extremely potent gleam that reflects off of said perfect teeth.

Companion creature: P-Hawk, a luecistic peacock and a symbol of his mother's family and heritage, pity then that in contrast to his noble and knightly owner P-Hawk is a royal pain, terrorising servants and shredding the gardens of the Charmings castle and generally being a menace, as such, Daring elected not to take him with him to ever after high…

Hexworthy vex: Lately Daring has been running afoul of a mysterious vigilante called the White Knight, who swoops in and saves the day before Daring even gets there, and not even bothering to stay and bask in the glory afterward, the absolute nerve! He's going to have to brush up on his swordplay if he ever wants to find out whose behind that oddly familiar helmet.

“Oh Curses” moment: Daring’s ego knows no bounds but he's genuinely skilled in most areas to back it up, its when he isn’t when problems start to arise… Daring has a nasty habit of freezing dead in his tracks when he's not sure what to do about something and he's not at all fond of it, especially since it both makes him look an absolute fool and could be genuinely dangerous for him if it were to happen in the midst of a monster battle…

Storied Secret: Daring isn't a natural blond, all three of the charming kids have their mother's dark brown hair, but darings father is insistent Daring and Darling have theirs done blond like his and silver-white respectively. Daring does not object to this as he fears his father would mistake him for Dexter if the colour ever ran out.

Deepest wish: To continue to live his life in a way that makes his parents,particularly his father, proud as the next king charming, and to save his beloved Apple from a poison enchantment cast by the evil queen and take her as his queen (that is if a certain other miss queen ever gets her head in the game and gets around to properly evildoing that is!...)

5 Fantastical Facts:

None of the Charming kids are honestly that close to each other nowadays,compared to the three being inseparable during spellementary school, time and differing expectations causing a rift between the siblings. Daring doesn't think much of it, especially because he's always been a bit separate from the other two on account of Dex and Darling being twins. In addition, the charming kids don't have many close relationships or friendships between them, Daring usually sticking by his beloved Apple, her group of friends, and his father, the primary influence on his sons lifestyle, among other things…

For someone so archetypically “laddish” Darings surprisingly a bit of a neat freak, his room always being spotlessly clean and intrinsically well-sorted, not a stray article of clothing or old snack wrapper in sight, this extends to his own physical hygiene, his love of mirrors serving both as a means to admire his perfect face but to spot check for any potential flaws or blemishes,no matter how insignificant they happen to seem…

On top of this, Daring has a strictly regimented workout routine and diet, having the perfect 8 pack and biceps that are not only toned enough to send his many fans into fits of swooning and awe but strong enough to lift any enchanted blade are imperative not only to his ego but his success as a hero, after all.

Daring is captain of EAH's bookball team, as his dad was before him. Daring has been playing the sport since he was young, despite his esteemed heritage however, Daring, ever honourable, would much rather train with the rest of the team and win genuinely through skill than the easier option of using his family's wealth and repute to influence the competition. It does help that he's both a genuinely skilled sportsman and that there's always a crowd of fans feverently turning out to support him.

Daring…doesn't entirely trust Raven, and worries her rebellion is a means towards something darker. After all its too much of a coincidence that both Raven and her mother went against their destinies. Specifically he's worried that many of his good,upstanding classmates and friends like Hunter and Cedar are being suckered into something, and he's especially worried about his beloved Apple, who has kindly volunteered herself to be Ravens roommate this year…

The penultimate Royal this week is Daring, next week will be the final pair of this first set of Ever after high bios (it's been a lot of fun writing them but I need to take a break and get back to drawing more regularly), can you guess who they'll be?

Further information and thoughts down below:

First and foremost, I like Daring as a sort of friendly antagonist, beyond an egotistical streak a mile wide and love of the limelight, being a bit of a chauvinist and actively believing in and benefitting from the destiny system he's a genuinely good guy who despite his high social standing doesn't abuse his power,as he thinks it isn't "knightly". (Not to mention hes a bit of a minor celebrity being a prince and all and he's aware that the media would be all over him if he acts a fool, and how that not only reflects on him but his family)

Really, Daring is quite well liked by most of his peers, he just comes off more antagonistic as quite a bit of ever after high is from Raven's perspective, who he doesn't know he's acting unfairly towards. (primarily because there's less repercussions for being judgemental or suspicious of villain kids, especially one as unorthodox as Raven)

Another thing of note is yes,Daring is straight and genuinely in love with Apple, even if she is a lesbian very deep into comphet and isn't aware that she doesn't love him back, romantically at least. As previously mentioned they're genuinely quite close and hes very supportive of apples efforts to get raven to properly follow her destiny,tbh I've always imagined Daring being a bit of a Ken (as in the barbie movie) type and so he, and his attitude regarding apple and their relationship, reflects that.

I think that monster transformation via parasite or some sort of symbiote would be hot. Especially if it includes gender transformation too because the host is secretly trans and the parasite/symbiote by living inside their body knows this. Like some sort of bioengineered alien symbiotic organism or whatever that's supposed to modify the host into an effective bio weapon or something picks up on the subconscious desires of the host while doing its thing and incorporates them into its design. Like "oh you want a cock and balls? Dw I got you. Ignore how it's 2 feet long and spined. Also ignore all the chitin growing all over your body. Don't worry about it" in the creature's mind, they both win.

Idk I'm just spit balling. What kind of monster do you think would be hot with this kind of prompt?

oooo i have thought about parasite/symbiote-driven tf before but like. clearly not enough. 100% loving this so much

like, imagine a transmasc egg getting infected with this kind of bioengineered symbiote, and there's definitely some sickness at first but it resolves pretty quickly with some rest so they think that's the end of it. but it's not. ohhh no. because that phase of sickness was the body trying to reject it, and now that it's over it means the symbiote's integrated for good.

and that's how they find themselves getting basically free HRT and surgeries they didn't even realize they wanted, their body transforming before their eyes as the symbiote works. they get a bigger appetite, end up gaining weight--looking stocky and solid with a healthy layer of fat over their muscles that they can't lose (that they don't want to lose). they get hairier at first, sweatier, hornier. the changes are undeniable. they should really go to the doctor or something, because this isn't normal, but they just feel so good, and you're supposed to go to the doctor when you feel bad, so they just kinda let the changes happen--even when the changes start getting weirder. it could go any which way, depending on what monster they'd vibe with most, or what kind of programming the symbiote has--could be the chitin you mentioned, end up with some horny hivemind type shit (that'd be delicious), or it could be something like a werewolf since they're already getting lots of hair, or scales and claws, but the point is, the changes are happening and they like them too much to try and stop them.

and remember how i said they'd be getting hornier? oh yeah. masturbation sessions practically everyday, sometimes while sitting in front of the mirror, as they watch their tdick grow and grow over weeks until they can properly fuck something with it, along with all of the other little changes in musculature and bone structure and hair and skin and everything. and then, near the end, where they barely look human anymore but they just find it so hot, the symbiote finally speaks to them:

Some new stuff I added:

1) Krang Prime’s design || The suit is bio-mechanical. It has less speed/attack but a lot of defense. Can make the scream carry out a lot further.

2) Mikey’s revamped design and story || Black markings, limbs covered, and more armor. Mikey’s always had an issue with humans, who saw him and his mutant siblings as monsters despite them constantly sacrificing their lives for them. Met Prime alone some time after befriending Cassie and got into a deep conversation that lingered in his mind for months. When the time came, he easily betrayed his family and switched sides.

3) Donnie’s design (draft 1) || His staff’s main form is a scythe that can lubricant a serum he made that can effectively, and heavily harm the krang. Although he is the closest to ‘appearing’ like a human, he still covers up as much as possible to avoid any conflict or confrontation from them as he leads the rebellion.

4) Mikey is now known as a midwife and main babysitter for the Krang. He couldn’t do much when first integrated into the krang army as Prime’s right hand, so he learned about the culture to become useful another way. Since the krang find it annoying to constantly watch other the newborn, Mikey stepped in. He also made the process easier for the pregnant krang. He eventually teaches what he knows to Cassie, who he also began to view as his own daughter.

5) Mikey’s new adopted human child: Yuki || A couple of years after joining the krang, on a rampage, Mikey stumbled across a mother and a sick infant. Incredibly drawn to the child, Mikey used a spell to heal the child and returned them to their mother. Years later, Mikey found them again, this time chained up outside. A small discussion reveals that the child has been raised newfound strangers after their family members had died, and is being used as a source of meat since they are able to regenerate. In an outrage, Mikey kills the humans and takes the child with him to raise as his own. A move that enrages Prime, who wants nothing to do with humans, but soon accepts that Mikey will never back down from this decision. Unbeknownst to Mikey, the reason for being drawn is that the kid is Leonardo’s secret child.
