I think there's a very interesting queer story in Jane telling people about her time displacement and who she really is.

Because, like, she's already experienced the dangerous consequences of coming out, estrangement from family, discrimination, etc. but this is something more personal. This is about the simple desire to be understood, to be seen for who you are, especially by those close to you.

She's literally not recognised as being the person she was, seen as someone completely different to who she really is, even by friends and family, except for a small circle of queer friends. That's a very queer experience. Plus, the reason she's in the future in the first place is because of her love for a girl, so it is tied to her being a lesbian in that way.

She wants to tell her family, but she might also want to tell other people from her old life, like Jerry. There's also Suzette, who is both the sister of her friend and the mother of her girlfriend. Then there's the people she met in the present, like Lucie and Winfield, she might want to tell them about what her life has been up to this point.

It would be confusing, time travel is a bit unbelievable, but if they truly care about her then they'll listen. But at the same time, they can probably already see it, through her anachronisms, through the way she looks exactly like the old Jane, through the way she knows everything Jane knew, far more than can be explained by her being Jane's relative, and the way she has the same name and jacket as Jane. But they're not willing to jump to that conclusion, just like queer identities in real life, that's outside their comfort zone.

And it would be so good for her, and for them. She and Jerry could finally have closure over him thinking she ghosted him, she could share her grief with Suzette over Augie, who also only recently found out he was dead, August could be honest with her mum, and she could finally find understanding and acceptance from her family.

It would also parallel August, who felt better once she was able to tell Myla about her childhood.

I'm just imagining a scene like that one in Doctor Who, that one with the Twelfth Doctor and Clara, where he's begging her to just "see me". Only that the issue is Jane being too young, rather than old.
