January 4th 2025
It's only a few hours after my last entry but midnight has passed and January charges on. It's going faster than I thought it would and I'm starting to feel sparks of panic about a lot of things.
Guy has decided he wants to come next weekend instead of two from now which gives me way less time to freak out about the entire situation. I am not ready to be confronted with my own awkwardness and I felt like I had almost made a clean break with the timing of us realizing something was different between us and then him having to leave.
The only plus is I won't have to deal with the texting ick I've been getting for two months once he is actually here.
I couldn't bring to words what I am actually worried about but let me try.
I am worried that I have spent my entire life crafting characters both in my mind, endlessly daydreaming from wake to sleep, and actually sitting and writing out tens of thousands of words about somebody in love.
There is always a piece of me in every character I write but it isn't a piece I've figured out how to access and I don't know if she is anywhere in here at all.
How many awkward silences can I take before I say something stupid and what if that familiar lurching in my stomach comes back next time he tries to touch me.
I wish he wouldn't try to touch me but I also wish he would so now you see my dilemma.
Love to me is exactly what we have now and I could have this forever. I could have him defending me without even realizing he is, handing him my purse to carry for the night while he lets me slip his credit card into my wallet. I can make due with a lifetime of glances across the room and drunk talks that almost cross the line but aren't quite enough of anything.
I thrive when I leave a night with him and text my friends every little touch and ask them if it means something, if it means anything.
My skin crawls the second there is a name to it but I hate that about me and I don't know how to get it to stop and I am terrified it never will. We talked about me being in my twenties and there is a fresh resolution about letting myself actually experience things but when does the fear stop?
Further on the subject I am admittedly fearful of my sexuality and being confronted with the fact I possibly don't like men at all. Maybe anything.
Is it normal to not ever feel that simmering heat everybody talks about or the rush of somebody wanting you? When does intimacy stop making my skin feel staticky and start to give me butterflies and what if I won't find out until it is too uncomfortable to bare.
Would there be anybody who actually wanted me if I decided to remove that part of my life because surely he wouldn't and there is a lot at stake if I ruin things. Not just with him and between us but almost my entire future could be shifted off course if he had a bad reaction to something or if I couldn't pretend to be so nonchalant.
There is a part of me that knows I have never felt weird or uncomfortable with him and it is very possible he will come back here and he won't be awkward words on a screen and it will be so much easier.
I really hope this is the case because I have about six days to figure out how to say hello to him without letting the entire world know that there is something very important missing from me.

Social Media As A Crowdsourcing Tool
The Internet has evolved drastically throughout the years since its initial release in the late 20th century. From allowing governments to share research resources to connecting people worldwide via social media, the Internet is without doubt an integral part of today’s society. There are a multitude of uses for the Internet and I would like to focus on the Internet as a crowdsourcing tool in this week’s blog.
Hargrave M. (2024) defines crowdsourcing as involving the gathering of work, information, or opinions from a vast number of individuals who share their data through the Internet, social media platforms, and mobile apps. However, the term was first coined in 2006 by Wiredmagazine author Jeff Howe in his article titled “The Rise of Crowdsourcing” and is a portmanteau of the words “crowd” and “sourcing”. Some advantages of crowdsourcing include reducing costs, speed, and tapping into skills not present in an in-house team (Hargrave M., 2024). Lloyd C.’s (2024) article notes that crowdsourcing has emerged as a powerful method for sparking innovation by tapping into the combined knowledge and creativity of a wide global group of contributors.

Certain uses of crowdsourcing include using user data to improve current applications or websites, gaining customer insight and preferences, crowdfunding, and problem solving and idea generation. The Mainstreethost Team (2024) mentions that Waze, a famous GPS navigation app, demonstrates crowdsourcing by using user data to give users the necessary information for a safe journey to their destination. Waze is not shy about showing people that their success is attributed to the contribution and support of their global userbase and this is evident on their website where they state “In 2009, we created a crowd-sourced navigation app that would make it easier to circumvent literal and figurative bumps in the road. How? By working together.” (The Mainstreethost Team, 2024). Unilever, a fast-moving consumer goods company, created the Foundry platform to engage with startups and innovators globally, aiming to find solutions for their business challenges. The platform invited participants to submit their ideas across various areas, such as product development, marketing, and sustainability initiatives (Lloyd C., 2024).
Additionally, crowdsourcing can be observed in ways other than the aforementioned. People can take to the Internet or social media to share news of current world events such as the infamous Notre-Dame Cathedral fire, where an inferno engulfed the spire of the building and most of its roof. Consumers now do not have to solely rely on news outlets to gain insight into new content. They can interact with journalists, news organizations as well as fellow readers directly, giving feedback and sharing their opinions and insights at the same time (Yellowbrick, 2023). The sharing of news can be seen as crowdsourcing as people are splitting the workload of news outlets through the Internet.
Crowdfunding is also an example of crowdsourcing. Smith T. (2024) defines crowdfunding as involving the gathering of money or funding of a business by collecting small amounts of capital from a large group of individuals. Smith T. (2024) mentions the importance of raising capital for the growth of a company and that established organizations and companies usually face no challenge in borrowing extra capital. However, small startups often come across obstacles in this area and this is exactly where crowdfunding comes in. Usually, small startups would take onto the Internet to post adverts of their company and state that they need funding. They would then include links to various fund donation websites such as GoFundMe in their adverts or social media posts and hope that users would stumble upon their announcement. These posts usually have a goal amount set for the donators to achieve, such as 100,000 US dollars or more.

The effectiveness of crowdfunding can be improved using social media. Castellano P. writes that demonstrating social proof using your social media profiles can increase the legitimacy of your business and people are more inclined to support your company when they see others doing the same. Another method of improving your company’s crowdfunding, as indicated in Castellano’s writing is promoting giveaways in your social media accounts or platforms. Doing so will increase your business’ popularity as well as reach, which in turn can lead to increased audience engagement.
To conclude, I personally think that the Internet or social media, to be exact, can be an effective tool for crowdsourcing if used strategically. Its unparalleled potential from improving products to funding new ventures and sharing crucial information transforms how we collaborate and create. The ability for people to come together to achieve a goal in unison creates a sense of shared purpose that drives meaningful progress in today’s digital world.

Question ask
1. Describe a challenge you faced at school and how you dealt with it.
2. What do you do if you don’t know how to complete a task?
3. Can you give an example of a time you failed?
Challenges of meeting deadlines one of the primary challenges individuals face when dealing with deadlines is time management. Many people struggle to estimate how long tasks will take, leading to a last-minute rush to complete projects. This miscalculation can result in subpar work and increased stress levels. Additionally, unexpected obstacles—such as last-minute changes, unforeseen technical issues, or personal emergencies—can disrupt even the best-laid plans, making it difficult to meet deadlines.
"In my previous role, I faced a tight deadline for a project due to unexpected projects that i need to be done" . A solution to that is creating a detailed schedule that outlines specific milestones can help individuals stay on track. Utilizing digital tools and apps for task management can enhance organization and accountability. Regularly reviewing progress against the timeline enables adjustments to be made if necessary, reducing the risk of last-minute scrambles.
Dealing with deadlines is a common challenge in today’s fast-paced world. While they can provoke stress and anxiety, adopting effective time management strategies, prioritizing tasks, and fostering a supportive environment can significantly improve one’s ability to meet deadlines without compromising quality.

Keys to Heaven (St. Peter save me)
I didn’t update after meeting Pete because I was in a frenzy. It was great. All my fears were for nothing yet they still continue to linger. I froze up when I was there because to be that close to someone who has saved you and doesn’t even know it is heartstopping stuff. Well Pete says you save yourself, they’re just the fuel to keep going. But if they hadn’t released mania the day that they did I wouldn’t be here to be meeting them at all. But maybe I didn’t wanna die at all, maybe just listening to mania instead of ending it was just an excuse to keep living. Anyways it was great I just kept staring and he asked if I wanted a picture, and over all he’s just super nice. I’m kind of sad now that I didn’t wear any merch because I didn’t want to turn the attention away from the comic. I’m also sad at how awkward I am and How my mind works because I had so much to say but nothing came out. Maybe he thinks I’m weird, maybe he doesn’t think about it all, they met so many people to think that I’m someone he’d remember is conceited I guess. I read the comic by the way it’s really cute. At least as a former dramatic teen. The main character is really into Elliot Smith and I think that it’s really cute because that’s how I am about him. They also have a pretty good playlist going on. Well other than meeting Pete I’ve been really out of my comfort zone and pushing for myself to be more social and I’m doing this all off my medications. I never knew I didn’t need them. Well like I do feel like my life is more put together when I take them and I’ve been feeling a bit out of it. Like this universe isn’t real, and there’s really no purpose to anything but I mean I’ve been alright so it’s not that big of a deal. I got a tattoo yesterday and it’s in a place where if I’m not careful my mom might see it, and I thought about how she thinks I’m going to hell. Not just because of the tat2 but because of my ‘rebelion’ against God. Getting high and and doing things deemed as sin really get me thinking of how I’m going to die and there is nothing I can do to stop it. Not like I want to live forever, but the idea that everything just ceases to exist is incomprehensible. That’s why I want to believe in God so much, and maybe to some extent I do. But I don’t like the idea that he has to dictate what you do while living. Maybe I believe in God but I also believe he hates me. And just like with everyone else I’m not good enough for him. I’ve had this fight countless times with myself and countless times with my mom trying to debunk His existence. I think she finally gave up on me after years of this back and fourth. It still leaves in imprint on the way I live life though, I do think about how I can never truly stand for what I believe in. I don’t believe in God, but somehow I’m still agnostic, somehow I still believe I deserve to suffer for enjoying life. I want to believe in a just and fair God. I want to believe I’m not a bad person and I’m still set for heaven, but with everything I’ve done I know the gates are closed. And circling this all back to Pete in his book Gray he says, “I wonder if killing yourself is the only thing you can control in your entire life, and that's why it's a sin. Because you're beating God at his own game.” And I think that’s why I just don’t end it, I always look for alternative slower ways that I know lessen my time. It’s not like I’m really killing myself, nobody will look at it that way they’ll just think I went a little to far with my vices.

Ethical & Legal Aspects of Social Media
The current state of social media ethics: what trends are happening in the industry? (5 pts) What are two current cases related to social media ethics? (5 pts) Outline the current code of ethics for social media by a professional organization you would be interested in joining as part of their social media staff. (10 pts)
Current trends that are happening in the industry are “get ready with me”, cooking, cleaning, organizational videos, fashion, and shopping videos. Two current cases that are related to social media ethics are Jojo Siwa posting inappropriate videos to her feed on TikTok, including clips of her being drunk and celebrating her 21st birthday in Disney. She was previously known for being on Dance Moms until she dropped a song called “Karma” earlier this year, which received a bunch of backlash for the video she created for the song that was deemed inappropriate for her younger audience. Another ethics issue in social media is the Kendrick Lamar and Drake rap feud that has been going on since the 2010s but has recently blown up yet again. Truths from both rappers have been exposed against one another, causing fans to pick sides. Both rappers have been going song for song, each one releasing more information on the other, releasing hidden truths. This not only affects both of their followers but also affects the record label they are under, every person who helps to create each of these songs, along with themselves.
Brands/professionals with strong social media ethical codes: what brands are utilizing proper social media ethical practices? (5 pts) Are there any professionals that you feel practice strong ethical behavior on social media? (5 pts) Support your choice with evidence. What are some takeaways you can bring forth in your own practices? (10 pts)
One brand that is utilizing proper social media ethical practices is Gymshark, which constantly updates its social media accounts with different genres of videos. They still engage you in their gym clothing, but they show it off in different ways without affecting anyone. Another brand that does proper social media ethical practices is Target, as they interact with their customer’s videos or posts, are constantly updating their feed with different topics, and send out ads and notifications for any sales or anything they don’t want their customers to miss out on. Some takeaways I got from this for my own practices are:
Keep followers updated on new products in different ways to keep their interest and attention.
Don’t post or encourage negative behavior or comments, just report and delete them so the social media company can handle the issue(s) appropriately.
Stay in contact with followers, giving many updates throughout the day.
Spreading positivity is better not only for myself and my mental health but for others as well.
Key concepts and issues: what main concepts do you think are necessary to adhere to for your own personal conduct online? (20 pts)
Main concepts that are necessary to adhere to for my own personal conduct online are:
Avoid and report any hate or bullying.
No discussing gender, sexuality or race.
No politics in any videos or comments.
My posts are my choice, just like your posts are yours, so do not comment on how often I may post specific things as I would like my privacy.
What to do and what not to do: what main concepts do you feel strongly against and want to make sure you avoid on social media? (20 pts)
I feel strongly against putting others down, commenting on something you don’t like about someone or something that is on my page. If you post any hateful, discriminating, or racist comments you will be immediately reported, blocked, and deleted from everything. I want to make sure to avoid having hateful or rude people on my account, as my main focus would be to spread positivity in a world of hate.
Bullet point 5-10 core concepts that you will follow as a practicing social media professional. Include citations that you used (20 pts)
Creativity
Originality
Happy / Positive posts
Private life kept private if I want it to be
No hate

Critical Analysis of the Clashing Political Dynasties in the Philippines: Why, How and Now What?
During the A.D.D.U Focus Conversation 2024, Game of Thrones: The North and South Divide, I gained valuable insights into the political landscape of the Philippines, particularly the prevalence of clashing political dynasties. Professor Neil Ryan Pancho's presentation provided a comprehensive understanding of the origin, impacts, and dynamics of political dynasties. These dynasties were explored through the lens of the Patron-Client Framework developed by Carl Lande and the Clientelism and Party System theory by Herbert Kitschelt. Lande's framework delves into political relationships where patrons offer resources and protection in exchange for loyalty, while Kitschelt's theory examines how clientelism influences party structures and electoral dynamics, particularly in developing democracies like the Philippines. Applying this to the Philippine context, political dynasties have gained prominence by earning the trust of voters through successive generations of holding public office. As these families have entrenched themselves in the political arena for extended periods, they have also accumulated substantial financial resources, enabling their participation in patron-client relationships and the perpetuation of clientelistic practices.
Political dynasties engage in clashes driven by their pursuit of power, control over resources, ideological differences, and historical rivalries, as evident in Davao where families like the Dutertes and Nograles vie for dominance. As what I have learned from Atty. Villarente’s class, the interplay of these factors creates dramatic political dynamics, exemplified by the contentious "Davao is not for sale" issue. This controversy, which involved accusations against the Nograles family (rivals of the Dutertes), for allegedly accepting Martin Romualdez's plea to gather signatures through people's initiative, underscores the lengths to which political dynasties are willing to go in their quest for power. The case serves as a poignant illustration of the clash between dynasties and the sacrifices they are prepared to make at the expense of public welfare.
I learned from the talk from Professor Pancho that the presence of political dynasties in the Philippines contributes to weak and fragmented political parties, limiting the development of robust and ideologically driven political institutions. Additionally, the dominance of political dynasties constricts the space for serious political parties to emerge, perpetuating a system where familial ties often outweigh policy considerations and ideological differences. Along with this, according to Dr. Pareja, there are ways to insulate democratic institutions from the effects of political dynasties such as to insulate democratic institutions from the influence of political dynasties, it is essential to prioritize widening economic opportunities, and ensuring that political power is not concentrated solely within influential families. Increasing accountability mechanisms can help mitigate the negative impacts of political dynasties by holding elected officials accountable for their actions and decisions. Incentivizing competence in governance through merit-based appointments and electoral reforms can help break the cycle of dynastic politics and encourage qualified individuals to participate in public service.

BLOG #3: REJECTION THERAPY
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, rejection means "the act of refusing to accept an idea, suggestion, proposal, etc". An act in which someone has the free will to refuse something. In this activity conducted, we get to experience giving strangers different situations where they can either say yes or no. At first, it was really challenging to be able to do it. The fear of being said no to something was present. But later on, it was realized that some people's decisions, may it be a yes or a no, are their way of showing how grounded they are in their decisions regardless of how big or small the favor might be. Overall, it was a wonderful and fulfilling experience.

Empowering Fisheries, A Journey of Innovation and Collaboration in Technopreneurship (Game 3 Insights)
In our recent group activity called Game 3, we worked together to imagine a better future. We focused on helping small fishermen who struggle to keep their catch fresh because they lack affordable refrigeration. We came up with the idea of solar-powered iceboxes that could help preserve fish without harming the environment with styrofoam.
During our activity, we talked to fishermen, fish sellers, and customers to understand their needs better. We found out that many fishermen lose money because their fish spoil quickly, and they need better ways to keep them fresh. Our interviews helped us see the importance of making our iceboxes bigger and stronger to hold more fish.
From our discussions, we learned that keeping fish fresh is just one part of the problem. We also need to make sure the fish stay cold from the moment they're caught until they're sold. Talking to fish sellers showed us that they could be important partners in spreading the word about our solution to customers.
Looking back on our activity, we see that we need to keep listening to the people we're trying to help. We also need to work together closely to make sure our ideas become real solutions. Our goal is to keep improving and finding ways to make life better for fishermen and everyone involved in the fishing industry

Bringing Sustainable Light to Off-Grid Villages
Team 9 is on a mission to solve energy poverty in rural Philippines through solar power. Lack of access to reliable electricity is a major challenge faced by millions living in remote villages and hinterlands across the country.
Our vision is bold - to uplift these communities out of energy poverty by delivering innovative and affordable renewable energy solutions. After extensive field research, we identified solar home lighting systems and solar-powered street lamps as the answer to the lighting needs of off-grid villages.
During community interviews in Cagayan de Oro City, we met families like Maria's who face daily struggles due to lack of good lighting after sunset. Their children cannot study properly, household tasks become difficult, and safety is a major concern for women venturing out at night. Dangerous kerosene lamps and candles are poor stopgap solutions that carry fire risks and health hazards.
The Solution Our affordable solar home lighting systems will provide up to 6 hours of bright light after a day's charge - plenty for children's study time, evening household work, and livelihood activities. The systems will also include mobile charging capabilities.
For community areas, we plan to install solar-powered street lamps to illuminate roads and common spaces. This will boost nighttime safety and allow evening social gatherings.
Working with microfinance partners, we aim to make these solutions accessible through financing plans that rural families can afford.
The Opportunity Our user research revealed critical insights - rural customers prioritize very bright light over dimmer lighting for longer durations. The lighting needs to adequately serve key activities like studies and income-generating work. There is also a huge unmet need for outdoor lighting for village roads and paths.
With our renewable energy products designed specifically for these needs, Team 9 is perfectly positioned to transform how off-grid communities in the Philippines access and use light. Join us in bringing sustainable illumination to those living in darkness.

"Navigating Competitive Success: A Startup's Guide"
Launching a successful startup is more than just having a great product—it's about understanding and outmaneuvering your competition. In this blog, we'll delve into the intricacies of competitive analysis, helping you make smarter decisions and ensuring your startup stays ahead in the market.
IDENTIFYING COMPETITORS
Identify Direct and Indirect Competitors Before entering the business arena, it's crucial to recognize both direct and indirect competitors. Identify businesses offering similar products or services as your direct rivals, and acknowledge indirect competitors with different offerings but competing for the same customer budget. This comprehensive understanding shapes your strategies and equips you to adapt to market changes.
Research Their Product or Service Offerings Competitive analysis goes beyond knowing what your competitors offer. Explore the specifics—features, pricing, and unique selling points. This exploration defines your startup's offerings, unveils potential market gaps or opportunities, and empowers you to stay competitive in a dynamic market.
Analyze Their Strengths and Weaknesses A thorough analysis of your competitors' strengths and weaknesses is a strategic move. Recognize their strong aspects, such as a robust brand or innovative products, and pinpoint areas where they may be vulnerable, like customer service issues. Leveraging their weaknesses and capitalizing on your own strengths positions your startup strategically in the market to gain a competitive edge.
Identify Areas Where You Can Differentiate Your Startup from the Competition To stand out, focus on creating a Unique Value Proposition (UVP) tailored to customer needs. Innovate in product features, prioritize quality, and offer exceptional customer service. Building a distinctive brand identity, considering strategic pricing, targeting niche markets, and embracing sustainable practices are key aspects. Continuous improvement and staying adaptable ensure your startup maintains a unique and compelling position in the competitive landscape.
Develop Strategies to Set Your Startup Apart from Competitors Crafting strategies to set your startup apart involves deep market understanding, continuous innovation, building a strong brand, strategic pricing, targeting niches, prioritizing quality and service, embracing sustainability, and staying adaptable through continuous improvement. Think creatively, introduce innovative features, and embrace sustainability and social responsibility initiatives. Learn from your competitors, observe, and continuously learn.
ANALYZING THE COMPETITION
To analyze the competition effectively, two (2) powerful visual tools were introduced: the Competitive Analysis X/Y Axis and the competitive analysis table.
The Competitive Analysis X/Y Axis is like a strategic map, visually showcasing competitors' positions based on price and product differentiation. This gives businesses an instant snapshot of the competitive landscape, helping identify strategic opportunities and market gaps.
On the other hand, the Competitive Analysis Table is a quick reference guide, condensing vital competitor information such as product features, pricing, target markets, and customer feedback. It provides a streamlined overview, aiding businesses in making swift, informed decisions.
These visual tools aren't just about data; they're about gaining a deeper understanding of the competition. By incorporating these into your analysis, you'll navigate the competitive landscape with clarity and make strategic moves that set your business apart.
Conclusion
Competitive analysis is the compass guiding startups through the ever-changing business landscape. More than a strategy, it empowers businesses with insights to navigate confidently, differentiate effectively, and set the course for lasting success. This blog serves as a comprehensive guide, urging startups to decode the competition, identify opportunities, and craft unique strategies. It's time to utilize competitive analysis as a roadmap, securing a distinctive place in the business arena.

Business Model Canvas
During our class discussion, which we handle at the CBM building. It is my first time to have a class there. I was not expecting that it would be that kinda spacy and I really like the vibe here, not so hot and the lighting is gentle for my eyes. I was able to listen very well without having any trouble. We talked about how we can start a business using this model, called business model canvas. For us students I must say that there are some gifted individuals that can really start a model business without having a hard time but I myself could hardly think of any business at all. I need plenty of time to think about it and just to have an idea where to start. Thankfully with the help of Ma'am and this lesson, it can guide me where to start.

Business model canvas is a strategic management tool for creating new business models and cataloging current ones is the business model canvas. The nine "building blocks" of the business model design template; Customer segments, Value Proposition, Channel, Customer Relationship, Revenue Streams, Key Resources, Key Activities, Key Partners, and Cost Structure. These are the things you must consider when you want to start a business, a guidance for some people like me who are having a rough time to create one.

“The Business Model Canvas reflects systematically on your business model, so you can focus on your business model segment by segment. This also means you can start with a brain dump, filling out the segments the spring to your mind first and then work on the empty segments to close the gaps. The following list with questions will help you brainstorm and compare several variations and ideas for your next business model innovation.” - Canvanizer 2019

Lecture Series Program
We are required to attend the lecture series program that will help us students to know various elements of innovations and entrepreneurship. The event was held at the University Convention Center or UCC. It is a series on intellectual property rights and technology transfer, incubation program opportunities, and startup ecosystem.

Presented by the diverse and high-level speakers from different industries who share their insights, leadership, and innovations. I really enjoy the program, it really inspires me as much as they inspire everyone at the convention center. As they share their experiences about their ups and downs when it comes to business, on how they survive and start again. Expecting unexpected situations and the most important of all is that you should not be afraid to fail because each failure teaches you something, it teaches you a lesson.
Life is short, make it worth a while. Do not be afraid to take risks, that is part of our daily lives. We have the opportunity to make choices, to change our path and move forward for a better future.

Yeah but how many artists (except pop stars) sell their music for synchs/ads? AM got a bit of royalty due to them selling their music to TV shows but that’s about it. I’ve seen BBC royalties for actors and it’s not that much. Plus in some cases musicians decide to pull their music from TV shows like it happened on Dawson’s Creek.
