Just a Sunny Day for You💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my eyes, akin to a summer day. Eternal, smiling, never shall you fade <3
I love love love how they both came out! Moth’s outfit and her little details and the leaves on Leaf’s cardigan is just my favorite thing. I’m writing out how anthro Leaf and Moth work so I’ll post that soon. Their stargazing in some flowers like I put in this piece.
(ID- Leaf is laying against Moth with her arm over her body and looking upward. She has a split eye with one half amber and the other green, a heart in the center and three shooting stars reflected in her gaze. A Lily is on her ear and she has a pink cardigan, two brown leaf buttons on the middle and her curly chest floof poking through. She has a small smile on her face and has a flushed, happy face. Moth is laying down beside her with her one arm around her shoulder, a paw over Leaf’s arm, and the other pointing off the canvas at the stars. She has a dull blue shirt with a sunflower on it, the other half of the sunflower with sun like decorations. Ripped black jeans, a dark blue beanie, wavy blue choker, and a necklace with a sun motif and a piece taken out like it can be put together with another necklace. Black eyed Susan’s are on her head and she has her mouth open, two fangs poking out, as she tells Leaf about the stars above. Her ears poke through the beanie. Her eye is a amber orange color with a shooting star reflected in her gaze and a clearly joyful expression on her face. The background is just of the grass with purple flowers dotted all around them. Purple, blue, and pink shade them with a pale yellow to shine like a reflection of the shooting stars. End ID)

i absolutely adore your designs! id love to hear about your process for making characters who look similar in canon have unique and identifiable features!!
tysm :,) i’ve always been really into character design so it’s fun to translate that into characters i love.
as for making similar looking characters look different i drew up a little lineup.
Tumblr media
this is gonna be a long one sjhdjsjs
cassie, steph, and mia are all beloved white, blonde, *skinny, teenage girls with roughly the same appearance so i decided to focus in on them.
(*they’re usually portrayed as being muscular/fit but nowhere near in same fashion as their male counterparts)
i wish there was a fancier way to put it, but honestly i just play around with shape language until i get a design i like. i try to lean into motifs/commonalities. (ex: the robins have larger noses to be sort of bird-like, cissie has a heart face to tie into the connection between archery & cupid, the house of el s-curl, cassie’s pigtails are shaped like stars) overall, doing lineups like these are really helpful when trying to make characters look different because it shows you a side-by-side of all the similarities & differences in how i draw the characters.
especially when they interact a lot (ex: wally & roy, kon & tim, cissie & greta) i don’t want them looking like siblings or to repeat the same features between characters who already look similar. unless i’m playing into that (dick & donna <3)
when changing race or body types, i try to factor in the actual character & their backstory. i tend to draw cassie stockier because of her more brawler-like fighting style + her being one of shorter yj kids. but also, i made greta chubby both because i thought it worked well with her shape language and i simply wanted to. the world is my oyster.
as for race, i’m a lot more careful about thinking about how being non-white would affect a character. i have to know a decent amount about a character before hitting them with The Self-Indulgence Beam. making a character black, brown, or asian shouldn’t be slapped on like a sticker without any care put into it. i feel like it’s a well-known point, but it’s worth mentioning especially because i’m black & i make so many characters non-white when i draw them.
back to canon portrayals, they’re some unique features given to them (ex: steph’s freckles aren’t always drawn but they do get featured a few times) so i try to make things like that a permanent physical feature. the curls were simply inspired by some other stephs i’ve seen :) i typically hc that she straightens & crimps them when she’s a teenager but i drew her with them for this example. i got very self-indulgent with my steph design because she’s my girl, but i also tried to keep in mind how she complements the people she interacts with the most (cass, tim, babs).
although i’ve enjoyed what i’ve read with her, i know the least about mia. so, i just gave her features i’d like to see more on teenage characters like acne. i pulled from some panels for the shape of her nose and adjusted the shade of her hair about a million times. i debated on giving her piercings, but ended up going against it because she doesn’t have invulnerability nor a full face mask & she doesn’t have piercings in any of the panels i saw of her.
although i’m not the hugest fan of the reveal of cassie secretly being a demigod rather than just having been given her powers, her being not entirely human gives me a little bit more leeway with her design in my head. hence the stark blonde in her lashes being inspired by fantasy design i enjoy.
one more thing i almost forgot was scars. obviously heroes with no powers would have more visible scars. just with the bats: they all have body scarring but i draw cass with more facial scars because of her history + she’s herself so she wouldn’t bother covering them v.s. tim, who doesn’t have visible facial scars bc he’s Very Particular about appearances, but he has a crooked nose.
scars can be fun to play with as far as trying to remember what happens to certain characters that would leave them scarred (cissie’s scar where the arrow went through her, any scars kon got from literally dying, wally’s or barry’s scarring from their “accidents”) they’re an interesting trait to add & reflects the whole vigilantism thing.
okay i think that’s all the thoughts i have. ik this got kinda rambley but i hope it was helpful 😭

one of the things in my totk rewrite that im most confident about is removing the building gimmick (to put it in another game truly build around it, its such a waste here imo) to add the hookshot instead
everyone loves the hookshot, i have never heard anyone say they didnt like it
in a world like botw it would be a perfect fit- it adds a unique and different movement option while-
it does not destroy the world design (like the building aspect does, though the towers also need a different function, letting you fly anywhere and skip everything everywhere all the time, including puzzles in both shrines and dungeons, something like that in a world thats build around climbing and gliding WILL end up destructive to the world design without really careful changes and balances .. that absolutely werent done in the game)
opens up a whole new way to think and do puzzles in a way that wasnt there in botw
preserves the feeling of dread when high up or in the sky, since falling is still a danger even with the parasail ( bc removing almost all warp points up there makes the danger being loss of progress rather than the fall itself- removing the parasail as a whole for the entire game is not an option and it will always be a security to not die by fall damage, so there should be a different danger even if im usually not a fan of loss of progress pressure, the bird mechanic i mentioned in other post would also help you not lose everything even if you make a mistake)
it makes climbing easier WITHOUT making it obsolete or skippable, especially with adding the main way to get up to sky islands as islands to climb up via the hookshot, its just adds another way to interact with the terrain instead of .. not interactign with it at all, the range is still limited and you still have to cling to the wall and get down to shoot it again
it being built into links prosthetic shiekah arm makes it more unique both in looks and mechanic/narrative aspects so i dont think it would be boring to have an old 'item' reused in a new way, especially together with the rest of the abilities- like it being not an instant 'pulls you to the thing' but a reactivatable one instead (so you can grab things to move them if lightweight enough similar to ultrahand)
bosses can benefit from it too, imo one of the coolest things in twilight princess was grabbing onto a boss to pull yourself to and onto them, being able to do that even to smaller ones shadow of the colossus style would be so neat
grabbing onto something moving and not pulling yourself immediately to it opens up not just fun but also funny scenarios aka you being flung around by whatever you grabbed (grab on a dragon ...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee- on a lynel ...'ragdoll chaos')
(with the removal of building and thus the majority of all the puzzles being fly thing from point A to point B not being a thing it also makes way for cool kinds of ways to get to the next sky island for example- a thought i had was making the reason they fly and are practically invisible from most angles being that they are swimming in a special kind of cloud that hides them due to breaking of light in certain ways withing them- thus hiding it from below most of the time, eliminating the problem of 'sky too full' which was apprently a reason why they removed alot of them too, and it would be incredibly fun to be able to poof into little clouds (they look a certain way so you know which ones you can swim in) also! lil cloud bridges between islands! a boat to surf on them high up in the sky! mario galaxy vibes!
probably more im forgetting
anytime i think about the hookshot mechanic i get so sad bc i just keep imagining how much you could have done with in totk and desperately want to play that :U

you can make both always. I love the concepts of boths designs for cdream. One bc it's shocking seeing the guy that destroyed countries and scared everyone into thinking he's a monter, just being a human like everyone in all senses.
And the other bc it's actually cool to challenge the ideas we have and how it's easy to dehumanize things that look different from the standards qe have. And how people don't think someone can be vulnerable or hurt when does not look close to what we think as "vulnerable".
Cdream fits so well with either design it's hard to choose i get You struggled sm
You get it Anon, you get it
On the one hand, Dream being human - just a guy who has made himself larger than life and flaunts this persona of him being the villain and a threat, is so satisfying during the staged finale in particular. The person behind the mask is just a 20 something guy. He's young. He's human. He's human and is constantly treated as lesser. It's an excellent narrative for the story and adds a LOT to the guy who's POV we never get. I do love any Dream that is just a guy for that choice alone.
Though hybrid Dream, GOD, it writes a slightly different story that's just as compelling. Admittedly I almost always fall back into writing him as a hybrid, and it's without a doubt my favorite for the variety AND the reasons you listed as well as some of my own.
Cause usually, regardless of who it is, there's a decent amount of other hybrids on the server, it's established that they are at the least uncommon - but most likely society still follows a similar status quo to us on how they judge. There are unspoken rules of society for the hybrids that are 'dangerous', that you don't bear your natural weapons, you don't do anything to make others uncomfortable, you must conform to the comforts of others. It's all subtext and undertones, rules never spoken. Societal Conventions the loathed.
I'd like to think, with my Dream who's a chimera - based on the combination of a Florida Bobcat, General Ambiguous Serpent Creature & a Bongo/Forest Antelope (taking that last one from my buddy Charlie cause it's just so silly) - that he detests such things and has fought his whole life to ignore them, he wants to be accepted for ALL that he is, he doesn't want to bend to rules that paint him as dangerous and untrustworthy if he doesn't adhere to shit that people don't even talk about. This is without a doubt why the server in its early days is so important to him, cause he doesn't need to hide, his friends accept him and could care less about what he is. He's not a monster, he's a friend, he's a companion. They care about who he is - not what he is. Even if his reputation from the manhunt days proceeds him. The mask only becomes a courtesy when new people show up, to hide his face - not for their sake, but for his own anonymity that ties back to the Manhunt reputation, it is not to hide his fangs despite what others may think.
Then there's the thing of him being shoved into this box cause of what he is, and it makes it so easy for others to dehumanize him - to villainize - to justify. Yes, he's done bad things, he's done horrible acts and it's all too easy for people to say "it's in his nature" than to acknowledge HIS perspective and reasons, to even consider that maybe, just maybe he was simply pushed too far. A snake kicked one too many times. And unfortunately every single time he's forced to or tries to defend himself with the only language anyone understands, violence, it's just more 'justification' that he cannot change and is eternally a danger.
It also adds another layer of parallels between him and Sam - Who in my interpretation has done everything he can to fit in with society, to prove he's not a monster or anything of the like, he's a good guy. Unfortunately as we all know, that line of thinking goes to Sam's head in the end, and he becomes a monster for reasons that have nothing to do with him being a creeper hybrid. And that's not even TOUCHING Rivals Duo and how they mirror each other.
---
I could say SOOOO much more but I think you get the gist - I generally just have such a soft spot for characters who look different/have certain features and are shunned by society for it in one way or another + plus the whole motif of characters who struggle to change their ways cause it's the only thing that works - At the end of the day I'll be sticking with the hybrid take, for sure, I was just stuck in my own head thinking it over for a minute XD

I really appreciate how it seems everyone seems to have their own priorities when it comes to Fairy Tail redesigns tbh, like mine are "what if they were butch" half the time or "what if their outfit was more functional"
What's your take on Irene I'm curious? She's the latest woman I'm hitting with the butch beam but in general I haven't really seen people redesign her much despite her fucking ATROCIOUS outfit
Ok I was avoiding this ask oops
The easy part is my mentality with redesigns, I usually just go for what I personally find aesthetically pleasing while adding in visual storytelling with their personalities. Like all the dragon slayers having varying levels of draconic features for plot or lucys main fit being an equestrian horse riding uniform to allude to how she ran away from home.
Idk for me it's kind of rule of cool at times and just me messing around until I start thinking abt the plot and incorporating more and more ideas into the designs ig
Ok so I have gotten asks about my opinions on Irene and silver and all that so the tldr is that I don't actually remember a lot of the late ft stuff bc I genuinely just got bored and didn't like it.
I plan on rewatching a lot of this but FROM THE LITTLE I DO REMEMBER here r my thoughts:
From jump I think bringing back Irene or silver is a detriment to both erzas and grays character arcs. They happen at a point in the series where we were never even remotely interested in who their birth parents r and seemingly neither did either of them so to bring them up out of no where feels like shock value to me.
There's just very little emotional investment because again AT THIS POINT in the story both of them r suppose to have grown where they see the guild as their family regardless of blood ties. This is kinda emphasized/ addressed by having erza be like the only parent I recognize is my guild master but also then y make it her mom in the first place if it doesn't hold any emotional stakes??
Specifically Irene, I think making her related to dragons is cheap and weird, erza before this has never been hinted at to have any kind of connection to dragons so again we have this weird shock value nonsense feeling
Like ugh if u WANTED to make it work then at the very least they could have made Irene more mother gothel energy where she's actively trying to coax erza into loving her and playing the role of the loving doting mother only to turn out to have been evil the whole time or something to at least CHALLENGE erza emotionally since so much of her arc has been learning to let ppl in so having it back fire this late in the show would have been interesting to me.
I'm rewatching the Irene fight just for this and I'm so annoyed now omg let's talk abt it
Irene just taking over Wendy's body happened so fast and easy also u can't tell me that Irene has never heard of the other dragon slayers so what would it have changed to just make this her plan all along and that's y she wanted to get close to erza and gain her trust. Like give it an arc or something with the twist at the end that she was grooming wendyas her new body and make the ritual more involved that it needed some level of trust or willingness from Wendy which would in turn make erza feel awful for putting her trust in Irene at all
I'm spitballing idk but all this to say that having a main supporting characters parents come back from the dead to be a nothing villain that they defeat the same as everyone else is lame
I forgot this is the fight where erza destroys a meteor with one arm I'm not even going to touch on that theres just so much there.
Ok onto silver omg
I simply hate the switch of like, o it's grays dad wait no it's actually deliora wait no it's actually actually grays dad fr This time guys-
Like idk commit to something bc again, this whole fight is like 10 minutes so all this info is just thrown at gray with no time for him to process until his dad dies again like idk can we plz have some internal struggle that lasts more than a single fight
I don't hate giving gray some kind of closure to his family dying but he also literally never mourned or talked abt them before hand bc, to me, it was implied he didn't really grieve them and just jumped right to revenge and training with Ur and when she died her death kind of consumed him so he stopped thinking abt his parents?
Idk again, if u wanted to make it work, literally just throw in some guilt abt his parents deaths where gray feels like he could have protected them or something or even resenting his father for not being strong enough to protect them and thats y he always pushes himself to do better and is willing to sacrifice himself to save his family at every turn bc he wants to be a martyr so bad guys-
Idk these r my initial thoughts, ik u didn't ask abt silver but he and Irene go in the same box to me

why analogical is canon
hello this is a list i made of why logan and virgil are boyfriends. btw they aren’t in any sort of order so.. sorry if i keep going back to certain episodes lol. also first post let’s go
feel free to add in the comments i suppose
* virgil doesn’t get too upset when roman insults him, but when logan calls him a defeatist, he is upset in the next ep too
* in the puppet video, virgil says “but when you lo- CARE for someone, not much hurts more than their scorn” tldr; virgil loves logan and that’s why he got upset at him calling virgil a defeatist
* literally the whole episode of my negative thinking is logan trying to comfort virgil without making it seem like he’s pitying him and he makes that clear at the end
* logan immediately notices when virgil is upset in the first part of moving on despite not usually knowing when things are upsetting the other sides, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO VIRGIL-
* during the intrusive thoughts episode, virgil says “i sound the alarm whenever princey say we talk to a cute guy” LOGAN LITERALLY SMILES AT HIM
* when logan almost says virgil was being paranoid, it looks like virgil internalized that immediately and logan realizes what he did and tries to be nicer afterwards in the ep.
* there’s a reason why they stand so close to eachother. they’re holding hands through the staircase railing 🤨
* both of them constantly making sure eachother are comfortable with doing things that the others want to do. like when virgil is about to share his name, logan goes “oh that’s okay. no pressure. if you don’t want to” and when the other sides tell logan to become a puppet, virgil says “only if you want to”
* virgil is extremely relieved after pt. 2 of moving on when logan comes back and logan assures him by saying that he won’t ever really leave
* end of pt. 1 of moving on, logan realizes he’s wrong about going to pattons room only because virgil gets upset. before and after this episode, he hates to admit he’s wrong EXCEPT when virgil feels upset
* when roman shushes logan in the originality ep, he looks over at virgil to “communicate” with someone who agrees with him and vigil gives him an understanding eyeroll
* in the cartoon episode when virgil appears, he doesn’t get to finish what he’s saying because roman and thomas interrupt him, so logan asks “what we’re you saying” so virgil can make his point
* at the end of the cartoon vid, logan gives reasons as to why living in the real world can be just as fascinating as living in a cartoon to comfort virgil and his worries of never living as happy of a life as a cartoon character would
* at the end of fitting in, virgil’s outfit change is the only one he “compliments” by saying “that design” to him and none of the others
* in the valentine’s day episode, logan is about to talk about blood diamonds after virgil says that the diamond industry is unethical, likely about to go off on a tangent that both him and virgil are interested in (not rlly proof they’re canon but i’d like to believe this is how they started being yk.. a thing)
* logan takes what virgil says literally all the time bc he believes that virgil is the only one that can be taken seriously out of the rest of the sides
* sorry but logan totally wanted to do the rap in the originality video to impress virgil, and he did
* logan remarks in pt 2 of accepting anxiety, that “it’s better for a society to be anxious than complacent” and “it’s the vigilant people who work the hardest to save the world” to let virgil know that he’s needed
* when logan has to explain his insult to the rest of the sides, instead of laughing at him or judging him, virgil instead explains that jokes or insults aren’t very meaningful when they have to be explained
* in the my negative thinking vid, virgil is trying so hard to piss logan off to distance himself from logan after growing closer with him before logan called him a defeatist. despite this, logan assures virgil that he doesn’t hate him
* logan calling virgil “undeniably adorable” after transforming and saying that virgil being like a kitten is a “pleasant comparison” and virgil getting embarrassed after logan says them
* in accepting anxiety pt 1, logan says that “he contributes more than what you credit him. plus he too can represent more than just anxiety even though that is a significant part of who he is”
* in accepting anxiety pt 2, logan gets angry with roman when he insults anxiety, saying “one would think that the creative side would be able to come up with a nicer way to talk to others” immediately defending virgil after losing him
* comforting virgil in accepting anxiety pt 2 by saying “too much of anything can be counterproductive,” making sure that virgil knows that he isn’t the only one that can make that mistake
* in the fitting in ep, logan says “if this is necessary to help virgil feel better about himself, then i support it” need i say more?
* later in fitting in, virgil says “well, sorry to ruin that for you” and logan responds with “you didn’t ruin anything” in the softest fucking voice
* also in fitting in, logan says, “hufflepuffs are known to be honest and you certainly keep things 100” which is probably why he takes everything virgil says literally
* “if anyone else here was going to be a ravenclaw, i would think it would be you” it’s hard for logan to admit that he’s wrong or isn’t just so much smarter than the others, but saying virgil would be on about the same level of intelligence as him just to make virgil fit in with them is just..
* later, when virgil says that he is a “problem identifier, not a problem solver” logan looks so disappointed seeing virgil not want to be/ doesn’t feel like he should be in the same house as him. logan definitely wanted to share a dorm w him in his imaginary hp au
* “wonderful. i hope that you feel a little more a part of this group, virgil” sobs
* logan making virgil laugh during the 12 days of christmas song, saying “6 crimes against the english language” to make virgil feel better after roman sings “7 sleights at virgil”
* when logan sings “5 crofters jams,” he definitely wanted to just impress virgil
* when they all sing “and an emo who’s now our best friend” logan gives him the softest look you could ever give someone hello
* logan thinks of giving virgil a gift card for audiobooks so that he can calm himself down when he’s feeling extra anxious meaning he genuinely thought of what virgil wanted/ needed
* when virgil says in can lying be good, “i knew something smelled fishy here” and logan take that literally, instead of getting frustrated at logan for taking him seriously again, virgil explains what he means.
* when logan is about to rant about how the concepts of good and bad ar meaningless, he doesn’t realize that doing that wouldn’t be helping anyone feel better, so virgil says “not a good time logan” to help him
* after logan says “as they say in the theater, fracture a femur,” virgil says “i hate both of those equally” but like definitely in joking/ affectionate way. u cannot tell me virgil spent time w logan that night helping him w internet slang
* in the my negative thinking ep, logan says that he “finally feels a sense of peace in this household… it finally feels like we are at a point of higher, sophisticated, thinking” after ONLY interacting w virgil an no one else, meaning he thinks virgil is intellectually superior to the rest of the sides like him
* logan also picks up whatever virgil says in their debate and definitely said that to roman to make virgil feel better and laugh

Let me into your brain about the silly legos (hc’s) - ✧
Tumblr media
IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED ABOUT MY HCS‼️‼️
Idk which Legos you were referring to so I will make a HC post for Ninjago characters since it’s what I’m currently hyperfixating on.
Buckle in for an extremely long post because I am insane. Cutting it to keep it organized for u guys 🫶
So one thing about me is that I love incorporating other people’s headcanons into my own. And sometimes that leads to some contradicting headcanons, so in my little brain I have like, multiple different sets of headcanons for a bunch of different characters while also having My Headcanons, those being the ones I believe in the most/came up with without outside influence. I will be listing My Headcanons, but I type that entire preface to explain why some of my posts might be contradictory of the headcanons I list here 🫶
It’s gonna go like this in no particular order. (The order of how excited I am to share my hcs for them)
Character name- gender/pronouns, sexuality
List of headcanons
——————————————————
General-
Their eye color aligns with their element, they all have their natural eye colors, but after realizing/unlocking their elemental powers, they began to change.
Adding onto the above hc, Kai and Nya's eyes are still pretty dull due to them being like, the last two to realize their powers, while Jay's are extremely bright and vibrant.
Jay- she/they (occasionally he) transfem + gender-fluid, bisexual
Hard of hearing, wears hearing aids. I think the hearing loss has always been there, but I think her elemental power just worsened it, bc you know. Thunder loud.
That being said, I think she was the first to get her elemental powers. I think they got them when she was like, a really really young kid.
Has heterochromia.
Came out as trans like, mid-prime empire.
Has psychosis and suffers from delusions.
Not rlly a Jay hc, but related. Their mom gave them up because she was desperately hoping they wouldn't have an elemental power, but if she did, they'd be near unfindable because she lived through hell and didn't want Jay to have to go through the same.
AuDHD
Nya- she/they transfem nonbinary, bisexual demiromantic
Has a tremor after un-merging with the ocean.
Her and Kai both have pretty bad anger issues.
SHE CAN BREATHE UNDERWAAAATTTEEERRRRR I believe she can ok?
For a long time after Hands Of Time she hates the way she looks because of how much she looks like her mom.
Still holds a heavy resentment against their parents, because even though it wasn't their choice to leave, them and Kai still had to grow up alone.
Fucking hates the taste of cinnamon.
Has time blindness, but only after un-merging with the ocean. She became disoriented and confused about the passage of time after being the ocean for so long.
Sometimes they still feel pulled back to the water.
Best friends with Cole (I believe this one wholeheartedly)
ADHD
Lloyd- he/they nonbinary, aroace
Has insomnia, and a sleepwalking problem when he can get to sleep.
Looked fairly human when he was young, but as he got older, his Oni and Dragon features started showing more.
The feelings he felt for Harumi was mostly confusion because she was the first girl he got close to that didn't have what felt like an 'older sister' role in his life.
Really likes bugs.
Has auditory processing disorder.
Their body doesn't regulate temperature regularly.
Religiously watches iceberg videos.
Likes wearing more loose fitting, baggy clothing.
High-empathy autistic.
Kai- he/him transman, bisexual
He and Nya both have pretty bad anger issues.
He likes occasionally dressing femininely, but usually decides against it because he’s afraid people won’t take him seriously.
HIS ASS IS NOT THE DESIGNATED DRIVER
Has burn scars that go pretty far up his arms due to his own elemental power.
Extremely high body heat, has to wear gloves to avoid burning people at the touch.
Has a pretty bad memory due to constant concussions (his ass got beat to shit CONSTANTLY)
Was stealth trans for a while, because he wanted people to take him seriously, but stopped caring after a while and is extremely open about his identity.
Has a deep paranoia that he’s going to hurt the people he cares about, and is constantly over correcting at ever little mistake.
ADHD
Cole- he/they, gay ace grey-aro
After the events of DOTD he has to use a mobility aid for a while while he gets accustomed to having a body again.
Body-image issues.
He feels like he’s supposed to be in charge of keeping everyone safe.
Best friends with Nya and Vania (I believe in this one SO hard.)
He loves cooking, and is very defensive about it. NOBODY is allowed in the kitchen while he's cooking (except Nya she's his taste tester).
Has constant night terrors and has a very detailed sleep routine to avoid them.
Super good with kids.
Girls girl (gender neutral).
OCD + ADHD.
Zane- they/them agender, panromantic ace
Will sometimes pick up little crafts or projects, jack of all trades type vibe.
Is actually SUPER up to date with every single internet trend or meme.
Can't taste (bc they're a nindroid...) but fr thought for years that all food just had no taste until the robot reveal and they're like 'ohh'
Has constantly wildly shifting morals.
Genuinely the scariest of the group, sometimes freaking out everyone else. This makes them sad. They present themselves in such a way to make them approachable.
Has a tendency to blame themself when everything goes wrong.
Refuses to talk about their feelings to anyone else, bottling it up.
Autistic.
Pixal- any pronouns agender, unlabeled ace
Runs every single online forum about the ninja, none of them know.
Always has to feel useful, or she gets stressed out easily.
Listens to podcasts when he works.
Wildly defensive.
Felt a little unworthy of the Samurai X title when nobody knew it was them.
Low-empathy autistic.
Skylor- she/they, lesbian
True neutral (generally looks out for herself, doesn't really do things for the greater good, but for her own sake)
Doesn't remember her mom at all, she passed away when she was extremely young.
After the events of S4 she completely uprooted her life, changed literally everything about herself to disconnect herself from her father. Renamed the noodle shop, and completely rewrote the menu.
Makes most of her own clothes.
Picked up painting, is insanely good at it.
Slightly self destructive, constantly trying to distance themself from the ninja, but Kai always drags her back.
Realized her elemental power at a very young age, mostly because of her father.
BPD + CPTSD.
Vania- she/fae/it/he transwoman, lesbian aromantic
Very talkative.
Writes to Cole a lot (she has both a phone and his phone number it just likes writing to him).
Plays a lot of instruments, faer favorites being the harp and the violin.
Extremely anxious that she's not going to be a good queen, constantly overcorrecting.
Really indecisive and always changing his mind.
AuDHD

I'm currently writing the next chapter (my uni class got cancelled, so I got loads of free time, lol), and I felt like writing down a little fun fact about revenant AU's origins.
Putting it under read more for those who aren't interested, this is me just rambling lmao
So, my initial idea came from me wanting to combine the MW characters and military setting with my magic system from my original stories (that I never talk about here)
In that idea, Soap was the only one with powers, and he hid them from everyone until an event (that will happen in the fic, so I'm not telling you details) happens, and he has to reveal them to Ghost. From then on they have to work together to hide it, eventually Price and Gaz find out, and slowly they all learn more about the origins of Soap's powers.
Now a little tidbit about how my magic system works, because that's the fun part. So, you have people with powers, called Devoted, who make a deal with a god to get those powers.
The gods choose their Devoted by their personality and lifestyle, and they're extremely rare.
Now obviously you can already tell how the two magic systems align, with Reapers being the gods from my story, and revenants being the Devoted.
So, which gods would align with the 141 revenants?
Soap, because he's the only one with powers directly from the original magic system, is from the God of Chaos, of the skies and space. His powers were just explosion creation, but it was much more extreme than in revenant AU - literally anything that grazes his body could explode, you couldn't even stab him. Revenant Soap has to concentrate more to explode something, it's not as instant anymore. I chose this god for him because of the explosion powers, and because the Devoted of the Chaos god hate authority, and have a strong sense of internal moral compass.
Gaz also fits perfectly to a god, the Goddess of Cosmos, of the earth and wind. The Goddess of Chaos and the God of Cosmos are opposites, and are most lethal to each other. The Devoted of this goddess appreciate life most, and try to find order in disorder, to fix the unfixable. His gravity manipulation and how floating works for him is taken directly from a character I already had, but unlike Gaz she can't make other things float, just herself.
Ghost doesn't have a direct correlation, but because Limbo is basically filled with kinda-dead people, he would be with the God of Death, of humanity and the arts. That god is the kindest to humans, and his Devoted are the most selfless people. It's an interesting thing for Ghost to be out of all people.
Price can fit into both the death god and the Goddess of Reality, of war and pain. I lean towards reality more because Price is able to plant simple ideas in people's mind. The Devoted of the death god can only feel other's emotion, not thoughts, and they can't change them. If he was a Devoted of the goddess of reality, he would have the power to control what other people perceive of reality. The people chosen by this god are often survivors of war and great pain. Make of that what you will for Price.
I didn't introduce the others, and I have a plan for a few more canon campaign characters and their revenant powers to show up in the fic, but what I found interesting is that none of them fit in the Goddess of Life, of animals and plants. Her Devoted is the main character of my original story...
Since I got old art of all the gods I figured I could show you. Just letting y'all know the style I use for this blog is separate from my usual... because I was mainly a painter before.
Tumblr media
The God of Chaos (old design, didn't make a painting of the new one rip)
Tumblr media
The God of Death (the little hand is of my OC ignore it)
Tumblr media
The Goddess of Cosmos (couldn't cut out the Devoted out of this one bc I didn't paint behind her)
And last one...
Tumblr media
The Goddess of Reality (pretty sure this is the oldest painting here, all of them are from 2021 and before I believe)
I intentionally made the Reapers look much different than the gods, like Soap's Reaper is made of a bunch of butterflies. Ghost's reaper would actually easily fit among the gods because it looks more human than the other Reapers...
Okay I just wanted to take a break from writing the chapter I'll go back now lol

Is there any chance you can give us a tag directory?
I can certainly try!!! Its not a complete directory because i have over a hundred and even i lose track of all of them. Anyways im putting the list under the cut ... i tried to organize it to the best of my ability so GENERAL is for housekeeping, TANGIBLE CONCEPTS are for physical things, FLEXIBLE CONCEPTS are things that hover between physical and conceptual, INTANGIBLE CONCEPTS are things that fully conceptual, and SPECIFIC MEDIA is for specific bands/shows/etc. I highly recommend if youre on mobile you DO NOT hit keep reading because its absurdly long and will take over ur dash. Anyways have fun knock urself out
GENERAL:
hollyws: original posts..... went by holly for a while on here, first url was honeyhollows, hollows has similar spelling to holly, you get the gist
a: a is for assorted, so anything that doesnt have an actual organizational tag goes in there-- memes, textposts, current events, etc
srb: self reblog, but not for every one of my og posts that i rb, just the ones that surpass a thousand notes and therefore get deleted. Its my greatest hits pretty much
for later: links, resources, things i want to return to, you get the gist
tag game: those like questionnaire-type games one gets tagged in
asks: asks that ive answered
vdo: in-app videos
the world flows past on both sides distant and mute: audio tag. From nazim hikmet's poem "things i didnt know i loved"
mb: moodboards
our hands empty except for our hands: webweaving and parallel posting. From ocean vuong's "on earth we're briefly gorgeous"
fave: favorites, obvs
blog thesis: the tag equivalent of me calling something real as hell, containing things that qualify as my belief system
my face: selfie tag, but most (all of them actually) get deleted approx 24 hours from original posting time so there's not really anything in there
maeve tag: pictures of my dog reside here
foster tag: my family fosters dogs sometimes, so if we've got a foster and i post a picture, it goes here
matryoshka dog, blue is your color, gi posting, betsy's ordination song, evan's dream journal: personalized tags for friends of mine
TANGIBLE CONCEPTS:
born to blow your mind or something along those lines: art! From the last shadow puppets' "miracle aligner"-- pretty much everything but photography...
the human eye is the loneliest creation: ...because this is the photography tag. I typically only use it when an image doesnt fit into any other tag, so its basically my "a" tag but for like formal images only. Kind of an ocean vuong quote but i changed it from "the human eye is god's loneliest creation" to that bc i go back and forth on god and whatnot
there's a brand new talk but it's not very clear: fashion, both in the conceptual runway sense and the "this is cute, i would wear this" sense. Aptly from david bowie's "fashion"
play pause rewind: anything having to with film or tv (that i dont have a specific tag for)-- gifsets, interviews, editorial style guides, etc.
people!: pictures where you can put a name to the face, so either celebrities or pictures that have their name in the caption
let it go free: items-- jewelry, knick knacks, tchotchkes, etc. A combination of things i would want and things i find beautiful, which are not necessarily mutually exclusive
cabinet of curiosities: a multitude of objects at once-- dollhouses, boxes full of stuff, dishes of jewelry. Its different from "let it go free" because i said so
interiors: decor, interior design, etc.
dishes: plates and platters and whatnot that i like
they really want you: dolls. From hole's "doll parts"
the light on your door: mirrors. From the velvet underground and nico's "i'll be your mirror"
releases: cars, usually crashed or rotting or in some other form of disuse, but also just normal, completely fine cars. Go watch crash 1996 dir. david cronenberg and then we'll talk
hundred voices: spirals. Also concentric circles.
nacreous: pearls, things with a mother-of-pearl inlay, etc
it's coming coming down: eyes. From sonic youth's "beauty lies in the eye"
bad girl meat: teeth. From lady gaga's "teeth"
divine and sharp: weapons, or at least some very pointy things one shouldnt run with
happiness is: a warm gun. Guns in general actually-- this is my tag for guns. From the beatles' "happiness is a warm gun". Duh
prisms: food. Lots of cake in this tag but its all foods not just cake.... i just like cake
o sailor: sailing, nautical stuff, ships, etc. From fiona apple's eponymous song
it's buzzcut season anyways: cutting hair, from lorde's "buzzcut season".
tattoos: well, its tattoos. Not necessarily ones i would want or even inspiration for future tattoos, its just that if a tattoo is the main focus of an image, it goes in here
invitation to peace: deer tag, from system of a down's "deer dance".
draw blood just to taste it hold bones just to break them: canine tag as in dogs, not the teeth, and also one that i wish wasnt so long because man this is a pain to type out. From nicole dollanganger's "dog teeth"
weird fishes: fish. From radiohead's "weird fishes"
lo voy a tener que matar: cats! From los saicos' "el entierro de los gatos". Also yeah i know it means "i'm going to have to kill him" i just think its real funny
in silence i have pulled myself free: tag for horses and all things horse related. From pj harvey's "horses in my dreams"
cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other: cowboys. From willie nelson's eponymous song
they don't love you like i love you: places i grew up in/nearby-- it's pretty much everything west of colorado with a bit of mexico in there. From yeah yeah yeahs' "maps"
like the blue blonde hollyhocks of the dead: flower tag (all sorts, not just hollyhocks). Another bastardized quote, this time from sandra cisneros' a house on mango street-- the original is "dusty hollyhocks thick and perfumy blue-blond hair of the dead". Very good book you should read it
we return to each other in waves: things relating to the water-- the ocean, lakes, rivers, etc. It's definitely a quote from something but i cant find the og source and i dont trust pinterest
consumed and refined: fire, things on fire, burning, yada yada yada
tamer: ice, snow, frozen things, etc
01010000: all things mold and rot. Referring, of course, to the date the world began to decay, which was the day it was created
FLEXIBLE CONCEPTS:
lamentations! lamentations!: art or quotes or whatever that make me scream cry throw up wail howl prostrate myself etc.
the everything the patterns: my humanity tag! Doubles as both an "awww, arent humans cute?" tag and a catchall for people who aren't celebrities and don't have their names in the caption
god and other highways: religion and god, but mostly god. If you see something in there and you think "how could this possibly be related to god OR religion?" mind your own damn business <3
i believe in angels: things i consider to be angelic, which is a classification system even more lengthy and unnecessary than this tagging system. From abba's "i have a dream"
bolts in the head: monsters and generally spooky things. And yeah ik frankenstein doesnt actually have bolts in his head and that was a lie the movie made up but also the nature and definition of a monster is just as illusory and invented as the bolts are
whispers in the air: ghosts, or the fleeting nature of things, or the imagined, or the abstraction of the memory. So yeah its ghosts
when i love you it's forever: the dead, but focusing on the flesh left behind instead of the ghost that proceeds ahead. From "confessions of a skull mask", in the anthology "necrophilia variations"
we have put her living in the tomb: houses or general structures, officially haunted or otherwise (because all buildings are haunted in some way tbh). From my favorite edgar allen poe story "the fall of the house of usher" :)
the roots of the tree: things relating to childhood, development, or family
the lovers: art, photos, etc typically with two things interacting in some familiar way. Not necessarily nsfw, but theres definitely some lesbian erotica in there so beware
cut open my sternum and pull my little ribs around you: gore and blood and all that fun stuff. Not all images of blood go in here so if youre sensitive about pictures of blood beware. You probably shouldnt follow me if you are tbh. Anways it's from purity ring's "fineshrine"
is it a love song?: hunger, desire, violence, and the place where they intersect. Gore is in here also <3 and it's a quote from the 1983 film the hunger
race my heart race my soul: images i really really love. I would say its my aesthetic but aesthetics are a lie propagated by Big Capitalism to get you to buy more shit you dont need so no its not and dont get it twisted..... from "i'll never learn" by the shangri-las, which is possibly my favorite song. I go back and forth on what my favorite song is, but this one's up there for sure
put on your red shoes and dance the blues: all things red. From david bowie's "let's dance", but the original or 2002 remaster and not the 2018 remaster because as much as i love saxophone its totally out of the blue in the intro of the 2018 remaster and i dont like it
love me blue: all things blue, from zayn's "blue". And i have no qualms with any version of this song because i love you zayn
twilight sun: all things pink, from something that someone said to me in passing once and i thought it was nice.
the dead image of life: all things green
capable of charming god: all things yellow
tête à tête: ballet, and things relating to ballet. Even pictures of models with their ribbons tied all messed up go in here, im sorry to say
do you think you've made the right decision this time?: departure, transit, etc. Coming from, though, not going to-- the emphasis is on the leaving. From the smiths' "london" (underrated track tbh)
disappearance in transformation: bugs that can fly-- mainly moths and butterflies, but some beetles and other grubs appear here too
kill this chorus: people in relation to water-- in puddles, swimming, drowning, etc. Im not saying what this is from... if you know you know and also you know why that phrase pertains to that imagery
the luckiest by far: celestial bodies, clouds, the sky, etc. From madonna's lucky star
heaven waits on the other side: weddings, mostly brides and wedding dress-type stuff. From nicole dollanganger's "heart shaped bed"
godspeed your love: all things relating to love (and occasionally heartbreak). From possibly the greatest love song ever, the righteous brothers' "unchained melody"
lily left alone: playing cards and things having to do with suites of cards. Kind of from bob dylan's "lily, rosemary, and the jack of hearts" but not really
bloodied black: martyrs, warriors, knights. Lots of pictures of armor and joan of arc imagery here
mourning lamb: farm animals, mainly sheep but also cows and pigs and whatnot. From ethel cain's "ptolemaea"
all down: typography, handwritten things, etc-- everything from journal entries to song lyrics to letters to typed notes
time is a river: myths, folklore, classics, historical art, etc. Technically a quote from heraclitus but every knows it bc of marcus aurelius
INTANGIBLE CONCEPTS:
from the fire roads: get ready for this because this and the following five tags are all connected. This is the tag equivalent of exposition on the hero's journey-- the scene is a small town, a childhood bedroom, a parking lot, etc. From bruce springsteen's "racing in the streets"
and i see big things for you: this is the first threshold (transformation) in the hero's journey. In this particular case, the protagonist becomes a groupie for a band that passed through the town, and this world of travel and casual excess is very different from the world theyre from. The scene is a basement shows, cigarettes in a hotel bed, underfunded recording studios, etc. From wolf alice's "white leather"
somewhere there's a party: the "challenges and temptations" part of the hero's journey-- our protagonist gets tired of the constant moving and, craving something more, ends up in a big city working as a model/socialite. The scene is a closet filled with frills and designer clothes, a gala, the backstage of a fashion show, etc. From the replacements' "swingin' party"
don't cry about it: now at the second threshold (abyss) of the hero's journey, things start going downhill. The protagonist loses themself in a wave of drugs, sex, and excess; the scene is now a large bathroom with a shattered mirror, a smoke-filled bdsm club, a nosebleed, etc. From lana del rey's "this is what makes us girls"
careful fear / dead devotion: with the third threshold (atonement) in the hero's journey comes the protagonist's realization of their own rock bottom and the desire to get better. The scene is a dark bedroom with light coming through the door, a park at night, an open window, etc. From the nationals' "don't swallow the cap"
born with a weak heart: the end of the hero's journey-- the protagonist takes what money they have left and splits, getting a place in the middle of nowhere and working as an attendant somewhere they won't be recognized. The scene is a clearing in the woods, a warm kitchen, a grocery store, etc. From talking heads' "this must be the place"
there was to be no death in eden: Mostly i use it for animals that i dont have a specific tag for, large groups of animals, animals in little people clothes, fantasy art, folk tales, children's books, or anything else i consider to be edenic. Im gonna be honest with you i have a weird idea of eden because i saw it in a dream ... more on that here if u scroll down to where it says september 22 2023. Its an ellen g. white quote im pretty sure, and while i personally hate the seventh-day adventists and everything that entails, i do respect a woman who gets visions
you got your good thing: things pertaining to heaven, which is a vibe i cannot possibly explain bc i saw it in a dream as well but i will link you here nonetheless and just hope you get it. In short basically heaven is an archive and the angels never build it right because they're working off pure image untainted by emotion and human perspective so everything looks a little wonky and clinical (they mean well though). From david lynch's "in heaven (lady in the radiator song", off the eraserhead 1977 soundtrack
pelican island: birds. Also any sort of ghostly island or mysterious shore. Ghosts, too. From deena metzger's eponymous poem
ST PAUL MOMENT ST PAUL MOMENT: the nature version of my humanity tag. Refers to the biblical tale of st. paul, who was blinded then healed by jesus as a way of converting him to christianity (which is fucking crazy and sooo dramatic but we're not here to talk abt that). The point is that its the sensation of being awakened to a natural power higher than yourself, like how flowers always have a number of petals that complies with the fibonacci sequence
thou mayest: being good, being bad, the feeling of being torn between your capacities for good and evil, the shame of feeling evil, etc. Go read john steinbeck's east of eden and then we'll talk
soul opium: solitude, isolation, loneliness
thorn without a rose: hole theory. From aerosmith's "hole in my soul" #sorrywomen
shadows: poems that come off as gray to me. Yeah i dont know either man they just do its a very specific vibe and there is no other way to describe it than gray
ritualism: the color white being used in a holy, ritualistic context (or at least a context i perceive as holy)
74: my yamaha tx750 was created in 1974, which is a year that is important to me for no other reason than that (if u go into the tag its pretty obvious and if its not.... well im not telling)
p: im not sayinggggg. But here you will find white horses and things about grief
are your ears on?: writing, particularly having to do with the idea of a grand overarching narrative that tropes are forcefully enacted within
SPECIFIC MEDIA:
it's impossible to compete with the dead: my tag for all things sharp objects-related. Tag is a quote from the book
spn: that would be the 2005 cw show supernatural. #Sorry
mcr: that would be the post-hardcore band my chemical romance. #Sorryyyyyyy
shattered teacup: tag for the 2013 tv show hannibal and no other version of thomas harris's work-- silence of the lambs and whatnot can be found in the "play pause rewind" tag
little nudie turtles: tag for the 2018-2023 hbo show succession. Quote by tom (it's literally tom).
and the angels wouldn't help you: tag for david lynch's twin peaks, both the show(s) and the film
time is a flat circle: tag for season one of true detective... haven't watched the other seasons of this show because honestly nothing can beat that. So its only for season one

Character design anon back! You're right, sorry for asking such a vague question lmao.
You covered braids twists and afros in your lessons so far, so how about puffs and beads? Any notes on that? I gave one of my younger biracial characters a mix of microbraids and puffs, because she's creatively inclined and spends a lot of time at home, so I thought she'd have enough time and motivation for a more time-consuming hairstyle.
On a similar note, that ask about the survivalist character was very helpful. Any other hairstyles that you would think are unrealistic if you saw them in a fantasy setting with no magic or technology to keep in mind?
I wanted one of my characters to straighten her hair to represent she was suppressing parts of herself to fit in with a society that didn't accept her as she was, but let her hair recover its natural shape when she stops trying to earn their approval and becomes more comfortable being herself. Do you think that be a respectful use of her design to represent her character arc? I got this idea from my own experiences with my hair, but I know her racial context is very different to mine and I wouldn't want to be insensitive. Straightening her hair might not be realistic for her in this setting either, but I'm worried that if she covers her hair and "grows out of it" that might send the wrong message. Any alternatives or should I write off the idea entirely?
Afro puffs and beads are always amazing. I love both. Puffs are an afro style, so that was already covered- you'd just have to do more searching for what you specifically want. Beads and ornamentation are lovely, but we also have to keep in mind that some jobs won't let you have them. So, depending on the job, maybe not permanent beads. I have these gold loc bands that I love putting in my hair for special occasions, but some folks are just fashionistas 🤷🏾‍♀️ so... We just have fun with it! Full beaded styles tend to be seen more on children, though. Like the braided styles with beads down the braid? Usually on kids, though it's always cool to see an adult with it (there's a movie where Alfre Woodard wears them and she rocks it).
Your character's style sounds cute!
With no magic? Straight hair lol. Bone straight hair on a black person in a fantasy or olden setting with no magic or means is super unrealistic to me. Bc how did it get that straight? Who did it? Using what? You're telling me it was easier to finagle together a hot comb to straighten her hair in these times than to just... Let it be an afro? Really? Is she rich with servants who'll comb it? Do they do it every night so it never frizzes up in any weather? Like I'm sure it's possible, but... 😬
I see what you're saying, and I remember a similar concept in the book Raybearer, where Tarisai's hair is always in tight braids until she begins to come to her own, and then it unleashes into a beautiful afro for the first time. So I don't think the change is a bad idea! Because ik that's what happened to me too- as I began to love myself, it meant loving my own hair, too. Starting fresh!
You may not be familiar with the Tignon laws (I think I mentioned it in the hair lessons) but that's what covering her hair reminds me of. Now, if you do it respectfully, it could fall into context like that- where her natural hair is seen as "bad", but as she learns to love herself, she defies society by loving and choosing her hair. So again, I don't think it's a bad idea! Just show your respect, especially if you're a nonblack author. Don't romanticize the oppression of it. Recognize the context, and recognize what some of your Black readers will be able to read out of it. Be sure to do your research on how to care for her hair. No point in having symbolism that sits so heavily on hair that you don't bother to actually love and care for.
That's my opinion on it, though! Hope it helps!

hello! I watched the air pistol medals match today and remembered your post on vash’s marksmanship!! It’s so cool to see those little details and I was wondering if you had any tips for trying air rifle shooting for the first time? I think I want to give it a go:)
Ayyy glad I inspired you!! This is gonna be a long post and will focus heavily on Rifles specifically, so hang tight (everything below the cut):
I personally got lucky because there was an air riflery club that started at my highschool, so I never started on my own. That said it would be good to find a local club/ shooting range that could give you more solid advice about handling firearms and getting equipment! Handling any weapon on your own is pretty scary, so the first thing I’d do is to find places where they’d let you handle one safely!
As far as actually getting started I do wanna point out that the only reason air riflery is considered one of the safest sports is because it takes safety regulations VERY seriously! So before even getting a rifle you should at least know most of the rules, which are:
1) Always have a Clear Barrel Indicator (CBI) inside your rifle at all times. That way it can be seen from far away that your rifle is unloaded and safe. Usually a CBI is an orange lawnmower string that you shove into the barrel of your rifle. As long as it’s bright and long enough for you to see it stick out from one end to the other, you’re good!
2) Always point the tip of the rifle up and away from your head. All this means is that whenever you carry a rifle outside of its case/carrying bag you have the tip pointed above your head so it’s clear that you won’t fire at anyone. This is not the military, this is all for sport, so there’s no need to have the rifle pointed down.
3) NEVER put your finger on the trigger until ready to fire. Yes guns do have safety locks, but they don’t always work! Having your shooting finger resting on the side of your rifle makes it clear that, again, you’re not gonna accidentally fire at anyone. Also makes you look respectful imo!
4) Do NOT fire until you’re told “the line is HOT” (meaning it’s ok to shoot) and never shoot if “the line is COLD” (means it’s NOT safe to shoot). The “line” is where the shooters line up in front of their targets at the range, and line is HOT means that there are now shots being fired over the line (I love puns if you can’t tell).
If at any point you hear “COLD / Line is COLD”, immediately take your finger off the trigger and either lay your rifle down away from you (if you’re lying down to shoot) OR point your rifle up and away from your head. Once it’s hot again you may continue shooting.
Now that you know the rules, here’s a brief list of the equipment I used when I was shooting + extras that could help:
1) Rifle (ofc!). There’s a few options but when I started I was offered either a Daisy or a Challenger Pop. Both are simple and sturdy, but the Challenger is designed to be adjustable while Daisys are basic wood stock rifles.
Daisy’s also requires you to manually change out the air canister that’s inside of them, but Challengers need to refill their air from a bigger air tank on a regular basis. This is partly why I recommend finding a local range/club first that could help provide the air necessary to refill your rifle, since otherwise that’s something you’d need to get on your own!
2) Pellets! These will usually be lead pellets that have a cap on them (not the lil balls/beads!!). They come in either a little box or a metal can! I personally don’t have a preference for which ones to use but R-10s are considered top notch!
3) Shooting glove! They’re actually gonna look more bulky than you think, but that’s GREAT bc you kinda wanna be as stiff as possible. Most of them will have the finger tips exposed and wrap around your wrist like a boxing glove. Make sure to find one that fits snug but comfortably on your hand. If it makes it almost impossible to make a fist, you’re set!
4) Shooting sling + attachment! This is the thing you’ll need if you wanna shoot lying down or kneeling properly (unless you wanna wobble around all the time at the start of your journey to beating John Wick) There’s two options:
A) Leather slings! Super stiff and sturdy which is AWESOME! But also a huge pain to tighten around your bicep and adjust! 😭
B) Nylon slings! I had one and bc I was short and skinny af I NEEDED something that actually was adjustable for me! Unfortunately they would loosen up easier than the leather slings so I had to constantly readjust when I was shooting, but if that doesn’t bother you then I’d go for it!
5) Shooting glasses! Unless you already wear glasses, in which case no worries! Just having any sort of outer eye protection wear is a must!
6) Shooting mats! This can literally be the jigsaw puzzle play mats you’d see kids use, but as long as you’re not lying/ sitting on the floor you’re good!
7) Shooting stand! It’s essentially a tripod for you to rest your rifle on when shooting while standing. Some also come with a little platform to rest your pellets on, but it’s possible to just make and attach your own!
8) SCOPE! Your sights don’t zoom in on air rifles so you’re probably gonna need your own scope assuming the range doesn’t provide one. Some are small to wear around your neck, some are big that they need to be attached to a pole, and sometimes all you need is a good set of binoculars! So long as you can see the target and where your shots land from where you’re shooting, that way you can adjust your position and sights easily!
9) Cleaning kit! Normally just having a rag and some spray that can help prevent the rust on your barrel works wonders! I’ll be honest I was Not responsible with my gun but my coach always helped us wipe down our gun barrels every once in a while to prevent rust from building up!
10) Rifle bag! Just a neat thing to carry your rifle in! Like a canvas suit case for your fire arm! You can go all in and get an actual box but personally the bag worked well for me!
11) Target frame + targets! There are def tutorials on how to make your own target frames but most of them are gonna be wooden stands with some metal on the back and a pan on the bottom to catch the pellets. You could also buy some simple ones at Walmart!
As for targets… you could buy the target paper sheets as you’re supposed to!
… Orrrr you could hot glue Smarties and playing cards on cardboard and fire away XD
Extras:
- Ear plugs! It can get LOUD shooting at a range and I am easy to startle! Just regular orange foam ones work fine!
- Blind! This can easily be a foam cut to attach to the back sight where you place your eye. Normally you want to keep both eyes open, but if you have a hard time focusing down the sight then a blind will alleviate that!
- Pellet box holder! This lets you stick in however many pellets you wanna shoot without having to fish around a can or a box for a pellet. Great for keeping track of your shots as well!
Sorry this is a lot longer than I intended, but like I said it’s a safe sport only because of how much safety goes into it! As I’ve said, it’ll be great to find a local group that could get you started, and I honestly wouldn’t have stuck with shooting had I not have several good friends to be around! It can be a very daunting sport, but I hope this helped give you more clarity and direction on how to get started!!! Good luck and have fun!!! 🤞

favorite jack o/ lantern? or no specific preference?
i don’t think, that i’m strong enough to pick just one tbh. but if i had to really narrow it down, i’d say i have two favorite jack o’ lanterns! i will exclude macendale from here, since well, jason is jason. i love him as jack, i love him as hobgoblin. i like him as a demogoblin. he can have whatever form, really. i love him as king loser in the comicverse an’ as a dangerous, ambitious sociopath in TAS.
but as for my fav jacks, it’ll be these two.
Tumblr media
*i find it funny how those panels are literally mirror one another*
the classic boi, daniel. the mad jack. an’ more modern take on jack from agent venom's comics. they both really stand out, when you compare them to their predecessors or those who came after.
i kinda disappointed with how the whole mad jack arc was resolved, but it was to be expected. once the writer changes, you instantly notice the difference. it happened with modern jack as well. the way his character was treated after rick remender’s ran is just … not the same to put it mildly. but overall, i love the emotional bone of their main arcs.
i love how daniel is supposed to be mysterio’s student an’ that he essentially tries to fit into the role of the villain, despite how it was shown that he at times struggled to play the part. i love the journey of jack o’ lantern, who trains himself to become ruthless, rather than him being like that from the get-go for once. it provides an interesting contrast to steven, who is just well, an asshole. he doesn’t care who he has to hurt to get what he wants. he just likes money. or to macendale, who can’t help the way he is, despite how it’s smth that causes him a certain amount of grief. an' then, enters danial.
his motivation is of a different nature. he doesn’t do things for money. nor is he a sociopath per say. his loss an’ personal offense is what drives him. which was a good fuel to peter’s own backstory. after all, uncle ben’s death is what made peter feel like he has to become a hero. on other hand, mysterio’s death is what made daniel to put on the mad jack costume. in a way, it’s interesting that daniel is actually genuinely remorseful, that he an’ spidey cannot be on the same side. in the beginning of his mad jack era, he was still more daniel, than jack. which is smth that slowly changes later on. an’ i love that bit too. it’s always interesting to see how the villain's mental state slowly worsens an’ they get more an’ more unhinged. the mystery around who jack actually was, remained pretty intriguing too. 'till certain point he almost felt like a spector of some sort, rather than a man. *beck's cousin was there too, but as far as i understand, she wore jack's costume only one time an' it was toward the very end. as her usual methods of operating things seem to imply, she's more of a mastermind who works in the shadows. rather than going out there an' doing dirty work*
anyways, i genuinely think, that if they kept daniel as mad jack permanently an’ kept adding things to his arc an’ character, he could have joined the row of spidey’s main rogues. esp bc while jacks tend to jump all over marvel’s properties as side villain, they work best, when their enemy is arachnid folk of some kind. be it spidey or agent venom. not only visually, it matches better, but also their gadgets an' style of fighting works best, when they have a hero, who can chase them in the air.
i also think that daniel has the most goated classic jack design too. a mask that moves an’ changes expressions. clawed, long fingers. that is some good stuff! when i first saw him, i was like ooohh, so cool. wow. the way he was written an’ the way, he interacted with spidey was also very pleasant, so naturally, it put him on top of my retro, classic jacks list.
in comparison to this 'staning from first sight', the crime master’s jack was the sort of character, i wasn’t expecting to love at all. when i went into reading agent venom *specifically rick remender ran*, i was pretty much expecting to not like what they did with jack there. but it was pretty much sold to me, as jack being one of the main villains of the series, so i was at the very least willing to give it a try. an’ i was surprised with what i’ve got. esp since this jack was literally crafted specifically to fit flash vs them just taking jack o’ lantern’s persona an’ not being creative with it at all *which i assumed they would do* an’ i also was surprised at how dark everything that surrounds that jack was. starting from the sheer fact, that he’s not a mercenary, but essentially a serial killer an’ ending up with his backstory.
while i saw people complaining that it wasn’t as gritty as jack teased it to be … once you give it a bit of thought, it actually is hella gritty in nature. a mentally ill child gets kidnapped an’ groomed by a psychopath, who later on uses jack’s brainwashed loyalty to him as a handy tool. it’s bluntly obvious, that the crime master doesn’t truly care about him at all. an’ since jack is pretty much an unreliable narrator, it’s unclear how much he leaves out an’ what the true nature of his an’ crime master’s relationships is. i kinda like how remender left a lot of space for hcs an’ speculations about certain details of jack’s upbringing. an’ it makes sense why jack not only downplayed the severity of his past, but also why he told the story in the way he did. i think, partly he doesn’t view it as messed up, bc the crime master told him, that keeping him hostage was needed for them to form a bond. an’ i also think, that jack wanted flash to see him as cool, an’ edgy an’ merciless killer or smth childish like that, rather than view him as a person, who doesn’t know any better.
i won’t get into tangles about that, bc it would become more of flash/jack thing, rather than me talking about jack only. but i love the striking difference in how different he is compared to daniel, an’ how their emotions while complex, also manifest differently. an’ where daniel is a proper adult, who picks his path with knowledge of what it means. jack was literally forcefully put into his position, since he was a kid. he still could have turned out the way he is, if he didn’t met crime master, but he also could have not. an’ it’s smth that won’t ever be known.
anyhow, thank you for asking me about jacks! i love those lil guys. i feel like they an’ in general, all of spidey’s goblinoids aren’t appreciated enough in fanon spaces.

i probably will not be finishing this unless i get a random spirt of motivation in the future. for those who dont know, this is my newly designed homestuck (+humanstuck) au based off the movie parasite 2019 that i will NOT shut up abt. information abt the au under the cut (THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR PARASITE)
mainly just going to talk abt the character choices just bc the au follows the same plot as the movie
the kim family (the set of main characters) includes karkat in place of the dad, terezi in place of the mom, vriska in place of the sister and sollux in place of the brother. none of them are related, its more of a tight knit friend group if anything
karkat: i chose karkat for this role as the dad due to the fact that he is known to be the "leader" in most situations, looking out for his friends and has their best interest in mind despite his anger issues and trouble showing it through words and otherwise. his love language is defending his friends at any cost
terezi: terezi in more independent although still looks out for the people she lives with, in this au i wanted her to be a bit more serious and more aggressive, labeling her as more morally grey. she believes the actions portrayed by the mom in the film as morally correct due to the fact that she sees it as a sort of way to get equal ground to those in the higher class. i thought this would be an interesting approach to the whole justice thing, personally. she wants whats best for her and her friends in a more financial state, considering the household of friends are in a state of poverty
vriska: i chose vriska for the role of the sister due to the fact the sister tends to be very easy to trick people for her own benefit, being able to twist lies to benefit her and her friends. she cares the least about the friends she has (although this doesnt mean she doesnt care for them at all), leading her to be more independent as well. vriska is more cold, and more snaky than the other people in the household
sollux: as the brother figure i thought sollux would be the best fit due to the fact that the brother in the film is more so concerned about the rich families daughter (who in this case is aradia. big surprise ik) who he wants to essentially get with. while his wants are a bit more selfish in this case, he figures he can try to make this a better thing for his group of friends rather than just himself considering the situation their household in being put in
the park family (the rich family) has more of a role that i couldnt really pinpoint character wise? some of these can be replaced with other characters, which also goes for the maid and her husband as well. i just chose these characters personally to fit my vision, others are allowed to modify them as you wish!
kanaya + rose: these are the parents, theyre both a married couple and the household is known as the lalonde-maryam residence. kanaya in this au is far more different than the wife from the family, while the wife was more clueless, kanaya is just more trusting. she suspects something is going on but doubts herself in the fact that she thinks shes doing the right thing for her family, ultimately believing the lies of the friend group household. rose is more skeptical as well, usually having kanaya be the one to tell her to not worry as much because kanaya thinks the extra help could benefit their family
the little boy and daughter are replaced with roxy (little boy (girl in this case)) and aradia due to the fact that there... wasnt really anything i could go off of since the characters in the film lack the screentime to really show character development or a major personality. these are essentially just fill in roles and can be changed in the future
the maid and her husband are nepeta and equius (bc i am soooo normal abt them /lie) (these characters can also be changed if wanted)
nepeta: as the maid, nepeta is very sweet and compliant, usually very caring of the family and values the job more than anything due to the fact of her and equius' living situation. she feels bad having to use the rich family for selfish reasons, but ultimately she has to do whats best for her and equius for them to survive and she doesnt want anything coming inbetween them or to take away what they fought to have in the first place
equius: as the husband, he has a sort of unspecified condition or illness that needs treatment and is unable to work and is mostly bedridden. the specifics are unknown as of now. the illness he has causes him to be more aloof although able to defend himself and nepeta. spending so much time in an isolated place also caused him to be more mentally unstable as a result, again, specifics are for the most part unknown
guh thats all i have for rn... i hope this is good just know im making my own shit up and these r not supposed to be lore accurate to the canon personalities they have in homestuck ok bye my hands hurt

idealism-sits-in-prison:
I use stitch fiddle or chart minder (both are websites). There's also the Wooltasia app.
violetdale:
Also, you can google knitter's graph paper and print it out if you want to design with pencil and paper. There are also books of knitter's graph paper available to buy online. You can just colour your designs right in. Knitter's graph paper will give you a more accurate prediction of what your pattern will look like than regular square graph paper because the proportions are designed to mimic the knit stitch.
Ah, thank you for the tips on the actual writing of it, but I was looking more for resources that cover how to calculate sizes and how many stitches to CO or inc/dec throughout due to the tension for colorwork being different. Like, for a regular sweater for myself in Xweight, I CO Ysts, but would that number change for a colorwork sweater since the tension is different? That’s more what I’m trying to find resources talking about. I recently did those Stardew Valley Summer socks and had to restart them after my initial attempt because they were turning out way too small due to the tension. I’d hate to start a sweater with my usual, “fly by the seat of my pants, figure it out as I go” method of designing and end up with a sweater that doesn’t fit and have to start it all over again after getting, idk, 2/3 of the way through. But I’ll be checking these sites and such out when I get to the point where I’m writing down the pattern. I typically just use Excel for the actual graphing of things because I’m lazy. But having the names of a couple websites that also provide the charts is handy, too!
redportrait:
Stitchfiddle is good for designing, I'm using it right now. Re: tension, yes, it is different bc if you don't pay close attention when you're learning your stitches will be too tight--the floats at the back (the yarn you're carrying) don't stretch as much as knit fabric does. I space out my stitches right before changing colors, so that I know the floats are long enough to lie correctly. Not foolproof but much better than nothing. Idk what everyone else does[.] I'm sure there's better ways out there as well ! What are you searching for ? If "stranded colorwork" isn't turning anything up try "fair isle colorwork", that's the way I've heard it referred to most often.
Good to know Stitchfiddle has two endorsements now! I’ll definitely check it out. But I also have knit colorwork before, off of others’ designs, so I’ve already got that initial learning curve of, “oh, I need to space these stitches out.” Which was interesting, since one of my mundane magic powers is perfect tension (non-colorwork, I now have to specify)! That’s the tip that I came across multiple times when first learning: keep your right needle stitches all spread out as you go.
I also know that Fair Isle is one of a handful of different colorwork techniques that come from a specific region. I haven’t delved too deeply into the nuanced differences between those techniques, mostly because I haven’t knit any patterns specific to those regional designs and am not looking to make something specifically in any of those styles. I didn’t realize it’d be so difficult to find resources on just non-regional-specific colorwork!
violetdale:
Look up books by Alice Starmore and Mary Jane Mucklestone. They both have stitch dictionaries for designing your own fair isle pieces, that also include tips and instructions on colour work.
diddlysquash:
If you’re wanting colorwork hats or sweaters, tin can knits has an ebook called “strange brew” that has a lot of the math figured out for sizes from newborn up through a very size inclusive adult where you can plug in your own charts for fingering, DK, or worsted weight yarn. It was really helpful for me getting started. Otherwise, know that in colorwork your tension will differ more than usual between flat and in the round, so if you’re swatching try the speed search technique[.] Sorry, speed swatch technique. You knit across the row on a circular needle, but instead of joining in the round or doing a purl row you slide the work down the needle and then carry the yarn along the back. It’s way more accurate.
Ahh I will definitely check those authors out, thank you! That’s kind of what I was looking for after realizing most of the promising-looking online resources I did find were e-courses (at and least one in-person course) that are quite up there in price and/or not running anymore.
I did come across Tin Can Knits’ Strange Brew, but it seemed like it was just for seamless yoke, and the design I want to tackle first will have colorwork motifs down the body. But! I shall give them a look; TCK are solid and always worth checking out.
I also didn’t know about the speed swatch technique! I do prefer to knit my sweaters in the round (I think seaming might be my absolute LEAST favorite thing to do about knitting. So much so that I’ve been trying out ways to pick up sleeves instead of seaming them on because I hate doing it so much and feel like my sleeves always twist no matter what I do to prevent that), so having a swatch technique that replicates that so I can get more accurate tension would be fantastic. Thank you!

So my 3 drawer dresser kind of works - the top 2 drawers I actively use, I almost always fold and put away anything that belongs in those drawers. The bottom most drawer is sort of a mix? It's got bathing suits, rash guards, some sweaters, and some random stuff like older socks I don't love but want to hold onto in case I need them (has happened before!) Sweaters have 3 or 4 different 'homes' in my room and hardly ever get put back particularly if they're something I'm using frequently or might use. This includes inside and on top of a fabric storage bin, over the top of multiple chairs in the dining room, as well as inside the drawer, inside on a shelf in my closet, and inside a fabric storage bag at the foot of my bed. Multiple types of sweaters. Oh plus I have a top drawer in my 2nd dresser for the pullovers, which has been 90% empty since October. Instead all of the pullovers are on top of my smaller dresser. Which also houses my undershirts/tanktops, jeans, and any and all clothing that needs to be hung up that I haven't had the energy or time to hang up and out away and/or that I've been actively likely to use in the next few days so hasn't made sense in terms of using energy I don't have to put some of it away but also the mess is driving me nuts. Also two shortsleeve polo shirts that I'm not sure where to store bc they won't fit in the short-sleeve shirts drawer in the 2nd dresser and I don't want to hang them up. Uh, the jeans and tanks are also stuff I wear basically every day outside of my days off, so putting them away hasn't made sense. When it gets warmer out consistently I usually put away some of them and the capris (and later shorts) join them (and/or replace the full length jeans later on) on top of the dresser.
Anyway.... I'm wondering if maybe instead of the 2nd dresser I should get like the ikea cube storage unit? And then just fold stuff I use frequently and stick it on one of the cube shelves. And stuff I use less often can get put into fabric bins and then put into the cube shelves.
I also have like some clothing I dont wantnto get rid of bc it's sentimental and/or useful for something specific (ie the breast cancer walk we go on in the fall, steph made shirts for it and I have both designs and am keeping them!) Or the type of shirt or pants that I don't love but I have needed to wear before when I didn't have a better option. So ig I'd get containers or something for some of that....? Also the bathing suits and rash guards could go in a fabric bin or 2 of their own in the cube shelving unit! And then I'd do something else in that bottom drawer. Maybe that could be tee shirts - at least one type, I could do favorites or patterned ones or non-work shirts in the cube shelving and the rest of my short-sleeved shirts could live in the bottom drawer of the smaller dresser.
Still haven't figured out a real workable solution for the sweaters/sweatshirts or for the closet situation but that may not be solvable.
Also once the heavy comforter gets washed and put away (have to find the bag it goes in or use the one the sweaters are in for it.....) I can use the fabric hamper for clothing that I only wore for a little while or half a day or a couple hours so it can be worn again (I like changing after work into comfier clothing when I get home and I could wear the same lounge pants and shirt for 3 hrs each across 2 days tbh) and that will prevent the sweater pile on the bin from becoming a 'sweater and half worn/not quite dirty clothes' pile instead.
And I did add two hooks, one on the outside of my closet door and one on the back (inside) of my bedroom door, which I have been using but I need to put stuff away more often anyway so that one of those hooks is just for the buttondowns and such that I don't want to put into the closet bc I'm gonna wear it the next day or whatever. That should help the clutter on the top of my small dresser. I'm just not sure I want to get rid of my 2nd dresser bc sentimental attachment. It was part of the og set, it was my sister's and then mine. Maybe it could go into the guest room, that might work yeah...

I DIDNT SEE THE OC ASK POST ORZ
for ezekial and luther 1,2,28 .... and ykw fuck it 11
Do they have any motifs?
Luther has 2 kinda. One was a little intentional the other just kinda came as a bonus. His main one is like, angelic imagery. That’s mostly from one of the first scenes of the story I came up with, where Ezekial is first brought to see Luther, who’s standing above him with light shining from behind him, and that with his hair kind of creates a halo kind of look and Ezekial remarks to himself that he looks like an angel. And yk, that whole like, white/light blue being angelic/pure idea with his color palette also kinda reflects that, which is both reflective and subversive to his character. Reflective in that it shows how he likes to be extremely clean and put together, but subverts how he’s involved with very dark things. His other motif only just occurred to me, that being space/moons. His planet and moon earrings weren’t really meant to be anything more than a cool design choice, but I realized that a lot of scenes I’ve pictured where he’s more vulnerable and open are at night and/or under the moonlight, so that motif has become a bit important to his character. You could also definitely draw some sun and moon imagery with him and Ezekial from that.
Ezekial doesn’t really have concrete motifs in the same way Luther does. There’s a couple reoccurring ideas that surround him, like scarring, loneliness, and loyalty, but I haven’t really given him strong specific motifs. I guess the main one that you could argue for that I’ve been thinking about lately is kind of like, wearing over time. That applies to the story and their dynamic at large, but specifically with Ezekial, there’s a lot of focus with him having to accept that things are not the same as they once were, as well as visually, his design changes and wears with time, both with him getting more and more scars and with his clothes gradually becoming more scuffed and dirty with the more experience he has. This also juxtaposes Luther, whose design is very clean and sharp and put together.
Describe their voice. Do they have a voice claim?
I always struggle finding voice claims for my characters bc I have such a specific vision in my head that nothing feels completely right for them, but I’ll try to get as close as I can.
For Ezekial, my first thought was Aoba from the beastars dub (I think. I was specifically thinking of the “hey, legoshi already knows her name!” line and I’m pretty sure that’s aoba but idk). Looking up a couple voices, I think also a bit of Ash from fantastic mr fox, though very slightly lower for both of those. Also also a smiiiidge of mk from lmk. Just a bit. The idea for him is to have a voice that’s very smooth and nice, pretty average tbh, and usually very bright but occasionally able to slip into a darker tone. Idk though, I feel like he’s really hard to place and I don’t even know if I really like any of these all that much for him, but it’s the best I got 😭
Luther’s voice I imagine closer to the lower end but also not particularly deep, very soft and level, kind of that back of the throat kind of sound. It’s really dumb but specifically I thought of that one clip that’s like “SHUT UP. SHUT UP. IM GONNA KILL THE NEXT PERSON I SEE I SWEAR TO GOD” but JUST for him yelling. The line I was imagining him saying in that tone was “Don’t you get it!?” and it works oddly well. Otherwise, it’s kinda like a mix between lilac cookie’s eng voice and sal fisher. Another one I found specifically looking at voice claim compilations that’s random as fuck is Wesley Gibson from wanted??? no idea who that is or what that’s about but I think his voice fits really really well for Luther.
Are they a dog or a cat person?
Ezekial likes both and he wouldn’t be able to choose, though probably leans a little more to dogs.
Luther you’d think would be more of a cat person, given his everything, but he actually prefers dogs because they’re easier to train and more obedient. He doesn’t dislike cats though.
Have they ever fallen in love and with whom?
I mean, there is a LOT of longing between these two, especially on Ezekial’s end. He’s been in love Luther since they were really young but I think he didn’t really realize that for a long time. At some point it kinda registered for him but even then I don’t think he ever really said it out loud to himself. It was never really some big revelation or anything, just kind of putting a word to a feeling that’s always been there.
And I’m not gonna lie and say the feeling isn’t reciprocated, but that’s something Luther hasn’t thought about in years and still hasn’t yet to really understand himself. The mix of emotional suppression and catholic guilt made a cocktail of self denial and inability to really accept that thought when he was younger, and in the present it’s far worse and far more repressed, and he has a long way to go before anything begins to change with that.
It’s actually interesting because this is also a scene I thought of pretty recently. After their reunion, once the tension has settled past the initial Luther-being-willing-to-kick-Ezekial-across-the-floor-without-a-second-glance phase, one of the conversations they end up having is Ezekial asking Luther if he’s dated anyone since he last saw him, to which Luther respond “I don’t think you could really call it that.” He asks the same question back at Ezekial and Ezekial responds “Yeah, I don’t think those really count either.” And that surprises Luther and he give a little “Huh.” And Ezekial asks what that’s about but Luther just says it’s none of his concern (really he’s surprised because Ezekial’s always kinda been a romantic, and he’s dated a couple people before when they were younger. “And I mean, Ezekial’s an attractive guy, and he would probably be a good partner, how has he not had any good relationships since high school?” (<- clueless))
