Thinking about Nanami Kento this fine evening even when I should be uploading all my kinktober fics (midterm season is killing me lo siento)

constantly pesters zoro about joining in on the fun: he’ll follow him around yelling “brat summer!” until zoro either tells him to shut up or humors him for a second

starts calling the album a “superpower” because of how happy and hyped the music makes him feel. says it gives him a special energy boost right before any battle or adventure

completely indifferent to it at first. he doesn’t care about trends or pop music; he’d rather be training or sleeping

however, when luffy and usopp keep blasting the album while learning the dances, he can’t help but get some of the tunes stuck in his head. still, he’d never admit it

soon enough, he gets caught in the line of fire because of his green hair and sanji has a FIELD DAY yelling “brat summer!” along with luffy and usopp every time zoro walks by

one time, after way too many drinks, he’s caught humming along to one of the songs while polishing his swords, and sanji almost passes out from laughing

might grudgingly say “brat summer” back to luffy just to shut him up, but definitely in the most deadpan, unimpressed tone ever

does not join in on the dances but will give usopp and luffy some pointers on their form… because they clearly need it

thinks it's marketing genius, keeps making projections about how much berry charli xcx must be making

despite the analytical side of her brain being hyper-focused on profits, she lowkey loves the carefree energy of brat summer and sneaks in a listen to the album when no one’s looking

starts calling the boys “brats” every time they mess up, using the trend as an excuse to be extra sassy

secretly wishes she could afford all the merch but would rather save her money (and everyone else's) for more important things like maps and treasure

if anyone starts dancing around her to the music, she’ll roll her eyes but will probably be tapping her foot in sync

usopp

jumps on the bandwagon as soon as he sees it. is 100% obsessed with the album, mentality and tiktok content: also immediately starts talking about how he was the original brat, way before it was cool

learns all the lyrics and choreographs his own version of the apple dance, which he insists is better than the original. he makes everyone watch him do it at least once a day

genuinely loves the upbeat energy of the album and plays it on loop while tinkering with his gadgets or working on the ship

luffy and him are each other’s no.1 enablers, always bringing up the trend every two minutes

sanji

initially annoyed by how much attention the album is getting, because he doesn’t think it even holds a candle to classical or romantic music

however, after watching some tiktoks, he starts to appreciate the aesthetic and maybe even gets a bit inspired to make brat summer-themed dishes. think kiwi cocktails, bright pesto pasta, etc. 

pretends to be indifferent but secretly makes sure the kitchen radio plays the album when he's cooking, claiming the rhythm helps his knife skills. he never tells anyone, though

luffy, usopp and him unintentionally end up becoming the ‘brat trio’

When I think about the possibility of Vivi rejoining the crew, I can’t help but think about what makes her stand out when placed next to the other Strawhats.

To me her goals were always the most altruistic in the crew. She always tried to maintain peace, teaching Luffy about putting your pride aside and being patient for others. I think about the motives behind her actions, and then I compare them to the Strawhats, who are mostly incredibly selfish.

I love all the Mugiwara because of their selfish traits and not despite of them, of course. But let’s all remember the only reason they ever initially agreed to save Vivi’s life was because Nami downright forced Igaram to offer up a reward in exchange (as Navivi trash this fact makes me all the more insane about how their bond developed). And then you have others like Franky, whose introduction was him beating and robbing Usopp with zero remorse, and even our dear Sanji who once said they should just leave Smoker to die because he’s their enemy. Lovable bastards all of them, but it’s always been clear to me that Vivi is much more prone to wanting to do the right thing, instead of what she really wants or what is best. Like dropping everything to find Nami a doctor despite how desperate she was to reach Alabbasts, and being willing to run around the dessert desperately to avoid the bloodier solution, running herself and the crew ragged so she wouldn’t put others in danger by facing Crocodile head-on. And most of all, choosing to stay behind the first place.

I cant help but view her as a bit of a moral compass among the crew, a pacifistic and self-sacrificial even to her own detriment. If she’d stayed with the Strawhats, or if she were to rejoin them, in which direction would she manage to stir them…?

It's nearly impossible to have a quiet and peaceful day with the crew, like the strawhats. Nami is mostly used to the noise on Going Merry but one day she gets fed up with Zoro and Sanji arguing. Not only are they extremely loud, but they've also already broken way too many things during their fights.

She decides that If they want to act like brats, then she's going to treat them as such. So she makes them apologize and hug each other in silence for an hour. None of them are happy about this punishment, but Nami threatened to raise Zoro's debt, and Sanji couldn't say no to her. It could be worse.

It's awkward enough for them to not incite any fight for a long time and Nami is quite proud of herself. She knows it won't last forever but at least now she knows how to handle them. It inevitably happens again. And again. And again.

Much to her surprise, those fights became more and more frequent. And what's even weirder is that she could see the way both Zoro and Sanji occasionally glanced at her to make sure she was nearby. It's almost as if they wanted someone to make them hug each other. As if they needed an excuse.... these idiots.

Soon, they don't even need Nami's help. When they aren't busy training, cooking or fighting, they cuddle together. Sometimes Luffy or Chopper would join them, but most of the crew knew it was their time.

After two years spent separately, they became extremely clingy. It's no surprise when they start sleeping in the same bed. What is surprising is that despite them behaving like a lovey-dovey couple, those oblivious idiots are STILL unaware of each other's feelings.
