🚬. . he’s pushing through his late 30’s at best.

🚬. . 5’11.

🚬. . a firm believer he’s a taurus.

🚬. . has native american roots.

🚬. . personality wise .. he’s a bit of a prick and an asshole just to give it to you straight . he will butt heads , he will command orders because technically speaking he’s the leader without saying much, basically has a strict & rough exterior . but with the shit he’s been through.. i don’t blame him. it would be a while once he likes & trusts you….but you’ll know. very few ppl get that side of him.

🚬. . dog person!! wants a dog sooo bad he knows he can’t take care of it unless someone wants to take care it while he’s away from the cabin. he’s ( and everybody else tbh..) out sometimes days or more so he ain’t risking it.

🚬. . whenever he sees stray dogs in the woods doesn’t matter what kind of dog man… he’ll pet it . if he has food in hand will give some to em’.

🚬. . if he keeps seeing the same dog(s) everyday when he’s walking around the woods , will give them a name for sure.

🚬. . definitely has HUNDREDS of pairs of bottom up plaid shirts. in hangers. in one small closet. Not just red like he wears all the time in mh. owns at least yellow , blue , black plaid shirts . rarely ever uses them though lol.

🚬. . smokes like a chimney holy crap. especially whenever he’s uncomfortable or stressed , at least smoke half a packet .. just an excuse not to talk about it.

🚬. . smells like the woods, cigarettes, or cheap shampoo and conditioner. (like old spice, irish spring , ect…)

🚬. . likes his coffee plain black. no questions asked. won’t add any creamer or sugar. just likes it the way it is.

🚬. . he’s probably rlly good at cooking like will cook up some good old eggs, beacon and sausage if he feels like it.

🚬. . snores like SO LOUD OH MY GOODNESS. second would be toby. holy moly. god forbid if there in the same room or your stuck sitting in the same car as them , you ain’t getting a wink of shut eye :( .

🚬. . coughs , coughs, … COUGHS especially whenever he’s running. it’s impossible for him to stay quiet bc of his smoking habits . has to take a break for a bit , lean against a tree and cough his lungs out.. then starts running again.

🚬. . i’ll die on this hill BUT IM SURE he does the old man groan whenever he’s bending down for too long. or putting a hand on his back , bend back a bit and groan hella loud .

🚬. . old man eye squint whenever he reads. for example reading something on his phone and has to reallyyy squint and puts that phone away from his face. YKWIM😭😭??

🚬. . acts like he hates toby but in reality cares so much for him. just can’t bring himself to say it to him bc he’s so stubborn . likes kate because she listens to him without complaining during missions, and gets the job done . same with brian. and TOBY GETS SO M A D .

🚬. .listens to divorce dad music that he’s plays all the time in his car.

➯ this a bit off topic but yk how toby lost his sister at a young age. messed him up quite a bit because Lyra was the only person aside from his mom that was truly kind to him. after burning his neighborhood, he doesn’t really have anybody else. and was taken by slender right after that.

➯ kate one day casually said that toby reminds her of a sibling,toby was taken back and need a few seconds to relies that she’s being serious. he cried a bit when he heard that from her because he never thought he would ever be a good brother bc he wasn’t there for his sister at that time. :(

➯ long story short they hugged each other that day. sworn kate he will protect her knowing full well she can defend herself. he doesn’t want to repeat his trauma. will break him even more if he lost another sibling because of his actions.

A few years ago, I got briefly obsessed with (and had a Tumblr post break containment about) the then-ongoing downfall of Cornell marketing professor Brian Wansink, an influential food psychology researcher who turned out to have been doing scientific fraud on a massive scale. This ranged from having grad students record every random thing they possibly could about a study and then slicing and dicing the data until they found a correlation between two random things that met a statistical significance threshold and only reporting that, to impossible data, to copy-pasting thousands of words between allegedly unrelated papers, to extremely basic arithmetic errors like sample sizes that don't add up. The scientists who exposed him dissected several dozen of his papers, but he's published over 200, and pretty much all of them seem to be like this. I've thought ever since that it would make a great school activity to bring in a stack of random Wansink papers and challenge the class to see how many problems they can find.

Oh, I've heard about this guy! I think they talked about him on an episode of Freakonomics, or else somewhere on NPR.

Academic dishonesty, especially regarding scientific publications, it's something very near and dear to my heart. And the fact that this guy produced so many in easy, delightful, daytime talk show style. Scientific headlines means that I think I know the angle I would want to take with this just because somebody says that something is science, doesn't mean it is. It's not a matter of you. Can't trust the mainstream media, it's a matter of people need scientific literacy in order to be trustworthy when reporting science.

But the reason why I'm responding to this ask instead of just making a lesson plan, Which I do intend to do, is that I never ever actually took any classes on scientific methodology. All I know about p-values I learned from Khan Academy and Wikipedia.

Toby is very childish, sometimes in ways that aren’t cute. He’ll throw a whining, foot stomping tantrum if he doesn’t get something he really wants. He’s also as messy eater and will just walk around with stains on his mouth and shirt 

Tim is inconsiderate and apathetic a lot of the time and will put out his cigarette in your canned drink before thinking to ask if you’re done with it, and he’ll not only make you get another one but also ask you to get him a beer ‘since you’re up’

Jeff holds grudges against random people he doesn’t even know for insane amounts of time, like someone so much as brushes his shoulder on the subway you’ll hear about it for weeks. Also he can never ever see himself as being in the wrong in even the slightest way in any scenario no matter what and it’s impossible to hold a civil discussion with him

Brian has no idea what he wants out of any relationship, platonic or otherwise, and will accidentally lead you on jumping from ‘let’s be friends with benefits’ to ‘i’m deeply in love with you’ to ‘let’s just be friends’ and everything in between, not necessarily in that order

Jason The Toymaker is a bit effeminate with his way of dress and general self expression, but is so embarrassed and in denial about it that he does a 180 and accidentally turns into a misogynistic trad guy when he talks

Laughing Jack is not and will never be over his severe abandonment issues and will consistently invade your privacy (like breaking into your phone or laptop) to make sure you aren’t insulting him or planning to leave him behind his back

Eyeless Jack is generally very quiet which wouldn’t be an issue if it didn’t lead to very passive aggressive displays of unhappiness instead of just telling you what the issue is. Like instead of just asking you to do the dishes he’ll take the dirty dishes and stack them on your bedside table in the middle of the night. Doesn’t matter how good you usually are with meeting his needs and wants, this is his first course of action

Jane doesn’t really have feelings of her own anymore and sort of forgets that others have them. If you come to her to vent you’ll only feel worse because she’ll keep saying things like “well why don’t you just _____?” thinking she’s being helpful by offering a solution but failing to realize that’s not what you need right now

Playing dumb games on the floor.

Despite the chaos in his soul, Jeff thrives when you’re both laid out on the floor—playing cards, stacking dice, arguing over who cheated in Uno.

He gets competitive in a way that’s just annoying enough to be endearing.

“I’m not flipping the table. I’m strategically removing your ability to win.”

Eventually he ends up lying on top of you, cards scattered, face pressed into your shoulder. He’s warm and quiet like that. Doesn’t need to say it—but he likes this version of himself with you.

Blanket forts & movies.

Toby LOVES making blanket forts. Like, he will restructure the living room for the perfect space.

Soft lighting, popcorn, horror movies he talks through, your head in his lap as he fiddles with your hair or hoodie string.

“We can wat-watch something else if this freaks you out—but I will judge you a little.”

He feels safe in small spaces, where the world’s shut out and it’s just you. He’s chatty, happy, and full of little giggles in moments like these.

Cooking in comfortable silence.

Jack finds peace in the methodical motion of cooking. Even if he’s not cooking for himself, he gladly does for you.

You chop, he stirs. You hum, he listens. He lets you taste test from the pan and press kisses to his shoulder.

“You’re not helping, you know. You’re just distracting.”

But his voice is soft, and there’s a fondness in his movements. Afterwards, you eat together in calm quiet, and he always insists on doing the dishes with you.

Tim likes taking walks. Doesn’t matter if it’s through the woods, around a lake, or through crumbling ruins of a dead town.

He walks beside you, occasionally brushing his fingers against yours. When you finally take his hand, he just squeezes it and keeps walking.

“This is nice. Being here. With you.”

Sometimes he’ll bring a flask. Sometimes he’ll pause to show you something he remembers. It’s always peaceful with him, even when the world isn’t.

“Not bad, rookie. Still not as good as mine, though.”

She runs her fingers over your knuckles while you rest, her adrenaline replaced with quiet affection.

Gaming marathons in bed.

Ben loves lazy afternoons with both of you tangled up in blankets, controllers in hand, snacks everywhere.

He makes dumb jokes, shouts when he loses, and lets you win sometimes just to watch you gloat.

“Look at you acting all smug—fine. Rematch. No mercy.”

After a few rounds, he tosses the controller and turns to you, cheek pressed to your chest, just vibing while the pause screen hums in the background.

Bath time + skincare.

Clockwork loves winding down with self-care rituals and insists you join her.

She’ll run a hot bath for both of you, drop in something that smells like sandalwood or mint, and just let you lean against her.

“You smell like my soap. Good. That’s how it should be.”

Afterwards, she dabs lotion onto your face with gentle fingers, murmuring praise. She’d never admit it, but she cherishes this softness more than anything.

Drawing together on the floor.

Jack isn’t a quiet guy—but when you break out pens and paper, he gets weirdly focused.

You draw on the floor, trading doodles, laughing at each other’s terrible art. Sometimes he traces your hand. Sometimes he draws your face from memory.

“You’re my best canvas, you know. But I like it when you leave your mark on me, too.”

He ends up covered in glitter, ink, and stickers, laying in a pile of scribbled paper and fake frustration.

Reading together in total silence.

Slender’s favorite activity is the quiet kind. You, him, a dark library or fireside room, curled up on opposite sides of a velvet couch, each with a book.

Sometimes he reads aloud if you ask. His voice is low, calm—hypnotic.

“Rest your eyes if you’d like. I’ll keep going.”

You fall asleep to the sound of his voice and the rustle of pages. He always bookmarks your spot.
