Me: it's 02:35AM and I have a checkup for a possible infection after my wisdom extraction.
Also me: Sherlock would NOT like bubble tea because the tapioca pearl's texture would be gross to him. Sticky, slimy and chewy balls wouldn't be something he would be able to stomach - the only bubble tea he would like would be the ones without pearls, probably would go for other toppings maybe.

Can I ask for Bachelorette and Crane husband?
So Bachelorette is basically doing as season of the Bachelor TV show, except as an alternate universe version of the Justice League getting together.  For anyone lucky enough to be unfamiliar with the show, it’s a reality dating show where 30ish contestants arrive to date and marry the lead, the titular Bachelor/Bachelorette.  Theoretically.  These days it’s known more for scandals, cringe, and former contestants going on to sell diet tea on Instagram.
Anyway, the story:  After the last disastrous season of the Bachelor which ended with several contestants, including the lead, going missing, Lex Luthor is trying to shake up the Bachelorette formula by bringing in Diana Prince, the franchise's first openly bisexual lead.  Are the contestants here to find love, fame, or, the ultimate right reason, saving the world?
The idea was for it to be a mix of character POVs going through the challenges, discovering the superpowers people are hiding, and falling in love, and not necessarily with the Diana.  I absolutely bit off more than I could chew with this, since when I started it I had written exactly nothing else with multiple POVs and this one had 4+, with at least two major ships and a bunch of side ships.
I also wanted to mix what was actually happening with some of the more reality TV things, like the confession cam segments where they sit in an empty room talking to the producers.  This scene is a couple weeks into the show, when Hal and Barry have really connected on a personal level, but before anyone’s really figured out any of the superhero stuff.
Hal: Barry?  Yeah, he’s my best friend in the house.  He’s one of those people you don’t think exist outside of, like, fairy tales and shit.  Like, real people don’t care that much, especially not about people like—  Don’t tell him this, because I’ll deny saying any of it, but he makes me believe in all that stuff, and it makes me feel better about myself knowing he calls me a friend too.
Barry: Hal’s someone I never would have met in real life, and I’m grateful for the show for that.  And yes, in this process, spending twenty four hours a day in a house full of strangers in this strange bubble, and the heightened emotionality of everything here… I guess what I’m saying is that you connect with people more quickly, go through months of relationship development in a much shorter amount of time.  I’m sorry, I’m not used to talking about this sort of thing.  *laughs*  You’d think I would be after doing so many of these interviews. He’s so many of the things I wish I could be.  Does he rub some people the wrong way?  Of course.  Do I personally agree with everything he’s said or done here?  No.  But he’s unabashedly who he is, and that’s something to admire.  … I do hope we can stay friends after the show, yes.  I hope my life isn’t too boring for him after the glitz and glamour of being on The Bachelorette has worn off.  *laughs*  But for now, I’m privileged to be his friend, and I’m going to try to focus on that. Producer: That’s great.  Now could you do that again except use the word “journey” instead of “process”?
You can find the inspiration for Crane Husband here, and another snippet here!  The basic premise is that Barry helps Hal, magical crane person, getting to know each other, and helping each other through misguided attempts to pay back past kindnesses.
Barry’s latching the final storm shutter when something white tumble out of the sky. He secures the warm glow inside the how behind the shutters, then turns, and dashes after it. The winds whips around him, stinging at his eyes and tugging at his coat to pull him off his feet.  He stumbles against the already soft ground, his hands doubly chilled. The world darkens again, late evening imposed by the clouds.  Barry can just make out the dark shapes of the trees ahead; his cabin is, thankfully, more visible, the dark splotch distinguished by the line of light sneaking through the shutters.   It can’t be much farther.  I can make it. The rain starts as he enters the tree line, a few fat drops soaking straight through his coat before he reaches the relative protection of the trees.  It’s even darker here, but then lightning flashes and he sees the patch of white. He’s shrugging out of his coat before the thunder hits, approaching as cautiously as he can while half running, half stumbling towards the poor creature. It’s so small, white feathers dull and muddy, and wing bent at a sickening angle.  It doesn’t move when Barry holds out a tentative hand, not quite touching it.  It’s still warm.  He carefully gathers it up in his coat, clutching the light bundle as securely but gently as he can. As he rushes into the downpour, huddled over his charge to protect it as best he could, he realizes why the crane struck him as so vulnerable.  He’s never seen one alone before.
Thanks for the ask!

Looking at how media has progressed, specifically TV shows, it's so funny how quickly the 'new model' takes over everything and people just...idk, freak out? heavily criticize? get a false sense of superiority over? any show that steps foot outside their newly expected box.
Memories are short, we know this. But it really wasn't long ago that TV shows put out pilots that were filmed entirely separate from the rest of the season and that pilot had to do really well in order for the show to be picked up at all. This led to pilot episodes being suuuuuper blunt about the concept, characters, world, and plot (and many times some stuff retconned in the subsequent episodes). Because those TV shows that survived have become well known and well loved, those first episodes/seasons have been rewritten in people's minds to the point where they genuinely don't remember how hamfisted writing was at the beginning of the show - because that's how they got people to be interested in watching.
It wasn't part of the model to 'show not tell' and stretch basic character beats out for the entire season. Due to the format, they front loaded exposition to let the watcher get a feel for the characters/world and THEN slowed down and settled in. Once we moved to a show structure where things were connected (part of a franchise), shows stopped front loading so much though it was still there- after all, they were still airing week-to-week on cable. But they trusted the 'built in' audience because the show was based on an already popular thing.
Then Netflix started dropping shows in one huge chunk. Now, you didn't have to worry about hooking a viewer immediately and shoving the whole world building exposition into the first episode, you just needed to give them the basics (especially if it was fantasy) and then provide a cliffhanger at the end of each episode that would support the 'binge' model of viewing.
Now, we've started to shift back to a weekly format for many shows, though they all seem to be still part of franchises, so that audience is already built in. But we do get '2 episode' or '3 episode' premiers to let the set-up take it's time while still giving viewers enough to ground them in the world and look forward to more.
So the point here is that none of these writing formats is 'wrong' and none of them are 'right'. They shift to accommodate how the show is going to be viewed. When people criticize 'wonky pacing', I just can't help but roll my eyes. Maybe you personally don't like the pace, but the pace isn't 'wrong'. Hell, I love high fantasy and people freak out all the time about the slow pace of that. People see shows dropping at an unconventional rate and declare that it's because the studio has no faith in the project and it's bad, actually (see Echo, which was really, really, good actually).
When people criticize 'heavy exposition' in first episodes, I roll my eyes again. That's what you do when you're introducing people to a world (especially a fantasy one) and the story isn't centered around figuring out how the world works. Sure, if you like slowly figuring out how the world works, then a show that doesn't explore that might not be your cup of tea, but recognize that and know that that's personal taste, not objective writing truth. First episodes can be REALLY GOOD and also have heavy exposition.
I like being able to look at all the different ways storytelling is done - the different paces, focus on different things, etc etc. Classics are written VERY differently from modern stuff, stories from different cultures are extremely different from ones you've always grown up with, thrillers are going to be told differently from cozy fantasy. None of these are 'wrong' or 'bad writing' because it's not the other. They're just different.
I guess what I'm saying is get out of your little 'media critique' bubble and understand there's no one correct way to write a story. Your obsession with 'spotting bad writing' is actually defeating your ability to critically examine media outside your extremely narrow world view. Look back to the past and realize things were done so differently then, but understand that it wasn't 'bad'. Look to other cultures/genres and understand one isn't 'better' than the other and should be the 'standard'.
It's ok to prefer one way over the other, but be careful tossing out the blanket, nearly meaningless now, 'bad writing' criticism as if you actually know what that means.
(Why does all my annoyance at 'media criticism' feel like it always circles back to Cinema Sins and the irreparable damage they did to people's brains?)

It's time to learn a little more about our lead characters!
Tumblr media
Araminta "Minty" Lam
Full Name: Araminta Joy Lam Nicknames: Minty, Mint, and the Spooky Girl Age: 25 Birthday: November 22 Pronouns: She/Her Gender: Female Orientation: Bisexual Height: 5’4” Nationality: Chinese and Filipino American Religion: Spiritual but not religious  Place of Birth: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Occupation: Supernatural Podcaster (The Night Owls of Philly) and Graphic Designer Face Model: Lydia Shum and Joyce Cheng Voice: Rachanee Lumayno
Minty is excitable and bubbly. She's a kind-hearted, friendly, and cheerful spooky goth girl. She can be one-track minded, especially when it comes to anything related to the supernatural. This can make Minty seem rude when she’s just bulldozing right past someone’s point or attempt at changing the topic. She’s a little too confident in her knowledge of the occult, believing she can handle whatever is thrown at her because she’s seen a lot of scary movies. She’d never be “stupid” like a horror movie character would be.
She’s a healthy skeptic. She doesn’t believe everything she hears and prefers to investigate before she buys into something. She knows there are a lot of scam artists out there that will take advantage of people who believe in the supernatural.
Minty desperately wants to find proof of ghosts and the afterlife. So far, she’s come up empty and that disappoints her.
She is very family oriented and gets along with most of her family. Her father passed away when she was young, and she currently lives with her mom and older sister.
Likes: Her friends and family, horror and sci-fi, romcoms, queer media, socks, laughing at Hallmark movies with her mom and sister, scary stories, podcasts, podcasting, autumn, rainstorms, MST3K, rock, death rock, goth rock, post punk, rockabilly, coffee shops, and video games
Dislikes: Humidity, feet, styrofoam, doing laundry, glue smell, cold fries, wearing pants, beer, fatphobia, and flies
Favorite Foods: Grilled Cheese and Pickle Sandwiches, Siopao Asado, Picarones, Hong Kong Egg Tarts, Egg and Banana Roti, Mooncakes, and Wawa Soft Pretzels
Favorite Drinks: Boba Milk Tea and Amaretto Sour
Favorite Animal: Bats
Favorite Color: Green
Tumblr media
Laura Bates
Full Name: Laura Marion Bates Nicknames: Laurie, Lulu, Lars, and Lala Age: 25 Birthday: March 4 Pronouns: She/Her Gender: Female Orientation: Lesbian Height: 5’6” Nationality: Black American Religion: Agnostic, but exploring Witchcraft Place of Birth: Somewhere in Pennsylvania (It'll be revealed later!) Occupation: Supernatural Podcaster (The Night Owls of Philly) and Accountant Face Models: Bern Nadette Stanis and Cicely Tyson Voice: Krystal Gem
While Laura’s love of all things supernatural and macabre could rival Minty’s, she’s a lot less excitable. She’s sarcastic with deadpan sense of humor without being cynical. Laura is blunt about her opinions, but she has some sense of tact. She can be just as dorky as Minty and she feels absolutely no shame about it. Life is too short to worry about what other people think.
Laura is a natural born leader. She’s talented and brilliant, but she doesn’t trust people easily. Minty and Ingrid are the only two people she truly trusts. She struggles with her self-worth and PTSD, preferring to fight her inner demons in private. Laura doesn’t reach out for help nearly as often as she should. She is a lot better at helping other people with their problems and she’s a humanitarian at heart.
Likes: The macabre, scary movies, Halloween, autumn, the countryside, small cottages and cabins, farms, theme parks (especally abandoned ones), sci-fi, the Star Battles franchise, terrible YA romance books and movies, murder mysteries, punk rock, reading, books, video games, dark academia, and cottagecore
Dislikes: Talking about her past, washing dishes by hand, heights, parking, this economy, balloons, and sports
Favorite Foods: Seafood, Croquettes, Chocoflan, Philly Cheesesteak, Sweet Potato Muffins, Pineapple Salsa, and Guava Pastries
Favorite Drinks: Strawberry Mint Tea and Long Island Iced Tea
Favorite Animal: Horses
Favorite Color: Orange
Tumblr media
Ingrid Sullenberger
Full Name: Ingrid Ellen Sullenberger Nicknames: Inga, Ingri, and Ing Age: 24 Birthday: February 22 Pronouns: She/Her Gender: Female Orientation: Pansexual Height: 5’3" Nationality: White American (German, Norwegian, and English) Religion: Pagan Place of Birth: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Occupation: Supernatural Podcaster (The Night Owls of Philly) and Tattoo Artist Face Models: Macha Méril and Lynn Lowry Voice: Kat Walker Shea
Ingrid is soft-spoken and timid. She can be shy, but once she feels comfortable, she loves to talk! She seems like she would be the polar opposite of Minty, but she’s just as into horror, spooky things, and alternative culture. She just also really likes cutesy things and romance movies.
Most of her tattoos are also very easy to hide with clothing, making her appear more conservative than she actually is. While she's gained respect in the tattoo community, she does still stick out like a sore thumb among her own.
She’s a pushover and she lacks assertiveness. While she’ll always come through in a clutch, she is the easiest to scare. She must overcome her intense fears to help Minty go toe-to-toe with O'Malley the Smiling Demon. She's the type of person who forces herself to power through her terror. Ingrid is incredibly kind and she has a strong sense of empathy.
She believes in the paranormal and she takes it deathly serious. She will often butt heads with Minty over not being cautious enough. She and Laura don't always agree on matters of the supernatural, but immensely respect each other.
Likes: Tattoos, tattoo artistry, drawing, paganism, witchcraft, scary movies, Halloween, Christmas, romance movies, cute accessories, stuffed spiders, sweets, animals, autumn, sweaters, musicals, cinema history, the beach, forests, and winter
Dislikes: Disrespecting the occult, standing up for herself, baking or cooking, animatronics, sand (it gets everywhere), and bitter foods
Favorite Foods: Strawberries, Hidden Rose Apple Toast, Pasta, Black Bean Burgers, Tacos de Papa, Potato Soup, and Russian Honey Cake
Favorite Drinks: Thai Iced Coffee and Mai Tai
Favorite Animal: Spiders
Favorite Color: Blue
Tumblr media
Rebecca "Bex" McQuoid
Full Name: Rebecca Elspeth McQuoid Nicknames: Bex, Beck, and Becka Age: 36 Birthday: October 5 Pronouns: She/Her Gender: Female Orientation: Pansexual Height: 5’6” Nationality: White American (Scottish, Irish, and German) Religion: Atheist  Place of Birth: Bonneville, Pennsylvania Occupation: Cook at Bonneville Podcasters' Retreat Face Models: Melanie Papalia Voice: Kat Walker Shea
Bex is a little weird. You have to be a little weird when you’re raised in a white trash family in the middle of nowhere. Bex is intelligent, but flippant. Not very many things upset her, but when they do anger her, she goes from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye. She can typically diffuse tense situations simply by a lack of reaction or by telling a joke. She generally keeps a cool head, so much so it seems like she doesn’t care. In reality, she’s tired. She’s seen some shit and she is over it.
She's friendly yet apathetic to most people when she meets them at first. She doesn't hate a lot of people either. Someone would really have to press her buttons or give her a reason to hate them. She struggles to trust people on a deeper level, yet she continues to seek out connection with others. Under all her bluster, she has a good heart. She's just used to taking care of herself with little to no help from anybody else.
She’s blunt, but she’s never intentionally hurtful. Sometimes she just sucks at wording herself. She’s never been one to brush off someone else’s hurt feelings with “I’m just being honest” either.
Her life is mostly ruled by giving into the existential dread and some form of nihilism, which can make it difficult for her to form and maintain relationships with people.
Likes: Her dog and cat, animals, money, cooking, baking, discovering new recipes and foods, working out, being outside, collecting cookbooks, oat milk, and reading
Dislikes: Cops, debt collectors, working customer service, large crowds, amusement parks, almond milk, and being seen as “soft”
Favorite Foods: Homemade Bread, Macarons, Brownies, Kimchi Carbonara, Paella, Bobotie, and Pretzel Pot Pie
Favorite Drinks: Vanilla Lattes and Corpse Reviver
Favorite Animal: Cats and Dogs
Favorite Color: Pink

Tell me, friend, what has been the hardest and what has been the easiest things to write for each dorm fic you've posted in our Saw AU? (I know you haven't posted Scarabia yet, but if you want to you can predict what you think will be hard and easy for that one!) 💜💜
Hi friend! Thank you so much for this ask! I'm always so excited to answer anything related to our Sort of Saw Franchise AU. I'll answer this in order of my posted fics, just because that's how my brain works.
If you haven't read our Saw Franchise AU fics, here is the link to the series. There are mild spoilers to my fics so if you don't want those, read the stories first.
The Easiest and Hardest Things to Write for Each Dorm's Fic
Octavinelle
Honestly, the entire story was easy to write. Since this first story was a surprise gift for you, I was extremely excited. That motivated me to write consistently and focused for around two to three hours. Though, a part I remember being particularly easy to piece out was the conversation with Yuu and Azul. I loved dropping hints to what Azul is actually doing while Yuu remains oblivious. Overall, this fic was easy with minimal "hard" parts to write.
Diasomnia
The easiest part to write was when Malleus arrived to help Yuu out with the pushy man (Roy). I am a big fan of friends arriving to help others in tough situations and this was especially satisfying due to Malleus's status and power scaring everyone in the room except Yuu.
The hardest part was to not devolve Yuu and Malleus's errands to just tea time. Honestly, my brain is always stuck on tea time, but for this story I couldn't have the only errand be "go drink tea". Still, I smuggled tea into the story (obviously).
Savanaclaw
Easiest part was Leona's entrance. I had it envisioned in my brain, haunting me for a while. I love writing flirty, seductive, teasing Leona. I imagined how their intimacy wasn't subtle and how that excited Leona, satisfying his possessive side.
The hardest part was to not just devolve this fic into an M or E rated story. Dead serious, I had to restrain myself in this one.
Pomefiore
Again, I found everything in this fic mostly easy to write. I love the dynamic of Rook/Vil coupled with Yuu. It allowed for this story to flow smoothly through the entire writing process.
I suppose there was a minimal "hard" part where I reworked the last scene to everyone going to a gift shop. Like usual, I wrote food once more, probably because I was hungry, before deciding "they already ate".
Heartslaybul
Easiest part was writing the dialogue and banter between everyone. Heartslaybul has a fun dynamic with personalities easy to bounce off one another. I also found writing the subtly of the murder (burning the evidence) extremely fun to hint.
The hardest part was the beginning where I decided to detail Yuu arriving at Trey's bakery. I felt there were many transitions and I worried they were rough.
Ignihyde
The easiest part of this story was writing all the setting descriptions. I had fun with Yuu's opening thoughts at the grocery store. I had fun with describing Idia and Ortho's house as well as the film and games they were watching/playing.
The hardest part of this is without doubt, writing Idia. I am still struggling with his voice and find him challenging to write.
Scarabia (Not done yet)
I predict the easiest part to write will be Kalim and Jamil's personalities. I especially find Kalim easy to write and look forward to his bright, bubbly character.
As for the hardest part, I don't need to predict that; it's figuring out how to write the subtle angle of murder in the background. So far I've had: victims chosen (twice with Malleus and Vil), in the stage of planning the murder (Azul), post murder (twice with Leona's more explicit and Riddle's subtle), and during murder (Idia). Still deciding which one I want for Kalim. I'll figure out on my own soon though!
Anyways, these are my answers! I hope you like them friend! Let me know what you think!

@jomiddlemarch asked for my top ten beverages (and/or guilty pleasures, but I don't have ten guilty pleasures (that I'm willing to admit XD))--she also tagged me something similar some time ago, which I failed to answer and I am so sorry
So, in random order:
Elderflower Fanta - I am that kind of crazy person who hates cola. It's not a question of Coca Cola vs Pepsi. If it's brown and fizzy, I don't care for it. It's Fanta for me, especially their elderflower flavor
Teakanne's Irish Cream tea - not in this weather, but for a cozy fall afternoon? Perfect.
Cider - the two most common brands here are Sommersby and Strongbow, and I'm slightly leaning towards Strongbow, especially their red berry flavor, but sometimes the stores I go to only carry Sommersby, so I'm fine with that. Also, I don't like beer, so whenever people are drinking beer around me, I'll drink cider.
Macifröccs - okay, so in Hungary, we have a whole damn tradition of mixing wine with club soda. Its not trashy - it's tradition. The different ratios even have different, individual names, but the umbrella term for the mix of wine and club soda is fröccs. Macifröccs (teddy/bear cub fröccs) is when you also add raspberry syrup.
Clove latte from Zanzibar - there is a café franchise in Hungary (they apparently also have locations in Switzerland, Croatia, Dubai, France, Romania, Saudia Arabia, and Romania) that focuses on sustainability (they buy the beans directly from the farmers too) and offering a wide range of coffee specialties from all around the world (they are cheaper than Starbucks too). Their clove-ginger Zanzibar latte is usually my go to drink, but last fall they had a limited edition Mozart Kugeln coffee that was just to die for.
Bailey's - Nuff' said. Don't leave me alone with Bailey's
Doctor Strange cocktail - there is a bar franchise here with three locations in Budapest that specifically targets the geek audience. You can play boardgames and consol games at their locations, and all of their drinks are also inspired by different games/movies/comics/series. Their Doctor Strange cocktail might be my current favorite, it's sweet and syrupy at the bottom and sour and lemony at the top-and packs some punch.
Bubble tea - I'm a weak ass white girl who prefers the kind without milk and with all the colorfull little bubbles. I'm sorry. But I know a good place in Budapest.
Energy drinks - here, and actual dirty pleasure. Also, I'm pretty sure caffein doesn't really affect me (I have never been able to drink enough of the stuff to keep me from sleeping or to raise my heartrate or anything, and I have indulged), so I guess I drink it for the placebo effect.
Pineapple juice - I just like pineapples (yes, on pizza too, sue me), so it's a nice treat

some things i've been thinking about centered around milkshake bc he feels like the least developed member of the gang:
idk if i established this yet but?? he goes by he/they. he's still cis male though
he has VERY gay mannerisms. think that clip of jerma eating a burger. he's effeminate in like a himbo way
they're aroace but not sex repulsed. he's so enthusiastic about other people's romances but he doesn't seek a romance of his own. in fact he likes sex jokes and actively reads/writes smut
he, sharky and bubbles all bounce ideas off each other n help one another with their art. for milkshake it's fashion designs, for sharky and bubbles it's character designs (not to say that milkshake doesn't also have OCs of his own lol)
that group of 3 also go out and buy clothes n get drinks (like along the lines of starbucks or bubble tea. ive never had either though) together occasionally. they're basically the tumblrinas of the group (in quite the contrast to all the Men. not saying sharky isnt both)
horse girl. he loves mlp. or whatever the in-universe equivalent may be. guess which pony is his favorite
one of his favorite game franchises is kirby. just like a certain boatman in the gang
i imagine he drives like. one of those small silver-painted cars. his car is a much more recent model compared to the vintage cars most of the gang drives. he just drives the most Normal car in general out of the gang
i dont see them being a huge fan of boating or fishing, but he finds some marine creatures adorable and others repulsive. not in like a he Hates them way but he just has trouble looking at some types of fish without feeling sick
like idk dude i still have SO much more to go w this guy. he still feels so far removed from the rest of the gang to me and i dont want that to be the case!! but yeah this is what i have for now lol

Ngl I like to think during season 2 of GX, where the entire school goes to Domino City, I imagine Kore and the other girlies just say "fuck it we need a break from this shit and cults, let's all go shopping >:3". Like I don't mean stereotypical clothes shopping, I mean yeah they also do that, but I just imagine my girlies going into so many random stores, probably also buying some dumb shit (hence why Kore now has like three mini cactuses on her desk), and just go roam around Domino City while also eating a lot of food and buying a lot of bubble tea. Hanae's suggestion about the bubble tea.
[CUT TEXT CAUSE I RAMBLE]
Hanae would be wanting to get food and drinks, along with Kore, but Kore also wants to check out the really random and silly figures in a certain store, plus just a lot of dumb shit (also buys a lot of silly cat figures). Cytherea and Miyu being babysitters of those two gremlins at this point, but they decide to do some clothes shopping and fashion seeing. I think Cytherea would just go off on her own at this point like "fuck these losers" and Miyu is looking for the latest book in a book series she's been heavily into (fantasy nerd). Probably ends up bumping into Bastion and is super confused as to why he's carrying an old man on his back.
My other two idiots Riley and Ilya...Ilya just feeding birds and enjoying the scenery and being a calm sweet lil boy when his other evil half ISN'T tryna plot on killing the girlies and the rest of the cast but...probably is plotting it. Riley just...went to the movies to see the latest new movie in some movie franchise he's into. Probably also went to also get a mini cactus. And thus now you see how tf Kore and Riley are related. Both stupid as fuck. Also Riley probably got police chasing after him for some dumb shit he's probably just done.
By the end of the episode when they all have to return to Duel Academy, Ilya is calm af and probably bought a little charm thing he found quite cute. The girlies rocking up with a shit ton of bags, Kore also having accidentally set fire to one of the stores so she's rushing to get back on the bus. Riley also following behind and racing back on the bus as police are still looking for him. Other than that they were oblivious to the shit that was going on during the whole time with Jaden and all that.

what is your favorite and LEAST favorite element of each era? (OG, UAF, OV, and the reboot). if you don't care to do them all, feel free to just choose a specific era.
Favorite:
OS- Of course the vast alien/creature designs made by Dave Johnson and Tom Perkins. The eerie, weird vibe the show has with odd things always going on in the background, something that makes you feel like the world is more expanded. Always something bubbling under the surface. Fun villains, arcs, and finale that just blew me away as a kid.
UAF- Pretty strong start, wanting to introduce "darker" elements to the world around (both figuratively and literally) and inject different perspectives both on the characters and the story as a whole, asking what would happen to these characters when they're older and how they've changed (for better or worse). Very neat work done by Glenn Murakami and Glen Wong. Undeniably gave the franchise as a whole its mark.
OV- A fun return to form that also isn't afraid to go weird, both in terms of writing and art. Genuinely funny at times. Lots of great character designs from Derrick J. Wyatt. Appreciative of bringing back tons of old characters/aliens when they were allowed to. really great Voice Acting as well!
Reboot- More tolerable version of Ben and Gwen. Neat design choices here and there. Honestly has a really great interpretation of Vilgax! Honestly happy that a younger generation got to experience anything Ben 10 related despite it not being the version I grew up with.
Least Favorite:
OS- Needless bickering between Ben and Gwen. Small things that don't exactly add up story-wise unless you look into pop up trivia that are partially just lost to time or crew statements after the fact. Very dated dialogue/insults.
UAF- Setting is WAY too dark or way too bland. Too many humanoid aliens that should DEFINIETLY be clothed to some degree. Completely bizarre character rewrites or "expansions" that either didn't need them or were just presented poorly for arcs that abruptly end. Weird, wooden acting and odd voice direction. Some lien abilities that are just total ass-pulls. Clunky gimmick that they don't even use that much. Fluctuating regression of the main protagonist awful to deal with at best or borderlines character assassination at worst.
OV- Too reliant on comedy that either runs too long, undercuts emotional moments, or just isn't that funny. Attempts to rectify their past mistakes from previous show but unfortunately makes a larger mess than need be. Certain character designs sacrifice too many original details in favor of references to other media, which can be fun but almost too distracting at times. Much like the other shows, introduces neat concepts that could be very deep and earnest but either don't follow through or just aren't executed well.
Reboot- Shorter runtime makes it feel too rushed and makes their overarching stories suffer. Toy mandates making needless gimmicks part of the story to sell action figures makes for boring character designs and less engaging stories (not blaming the crew itself for that). Attempts to separate itself from old continuity yet still tries to satiate older fans by loosely putting in references/specific characters for making a crossover special that the younger generation wouldn't know about. Inconsistent character design choices by ripping from old model sheets rather than making new designs that fit within the show's style. Not the best take on Grandpa Max. Overall just not my cup of tea, but hey it's not meant for me so Eh
