After the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, there came a monthly break, even though it was only the second race of the season.

The end of march was very warm, but the weather in Brazil had its own rules. Just as in London there was probably a downpour and the temperature barely above ten degrees, the other side of the globe had almost holiday-like weather.

The 1990 season was the second year when Y/N took Alain Prost's seat at McLaren, thus becoming Ayrton Senna's teammate. While many did not look favorably upon Ron Dennis's decision for various reasons—because Y/N was the first woman in history to have the opportunity to race at the top level of motorsport, her debut in Formula 1, her young age, and the fact of what kind of past Senna had with his previous teammates—with each passing month the doubts started to going away.

The girl handled herself on the track incredibly well, and since McLaren did not disappoint with their cars, she practically returned from every race with points, effectively shutting the mouths of all those who spoke unfavorably about her.

Even Ayrton himself, who was initially the most unconvinced about the boss's decision, also didn't need much to change his mind about her. At first, he approached her with distance, fearing that her joining the team might cause even more damage than when they had Prost in reserve. As it turned out, the girl was not his enemy; often, he himself silenced all those who attacked her and questioned her abilities.

Senna saw that she looked up at him as her authority. She never explicitly told him, but it was evident how she listened carefully to his advice, asked when she had doubts, and consulted almost everything only with him, although she had a whole crowd of people around her.

Ron breathed a sigh of relief seeing that they tolerated each other and there were no forecasts for them to repeat the Senna-Prost scenario. However, tolerating each other was an understatement, because Ayrton would never invite someone to his family's sides whom he merely tolerated. The Brazilian didn't admit it out loud, but he liked the girl. Sometimes he even caught himself thinking about her when she wasn't around, and when she was, he smiled a lot more in her company, whereas McLaren's garage used to be a place of nerves and tense atmosphere for him.

Yes, if someone asked him about Y/N, Ayrton would say she was his friend. Someone he never had after leaving Brazil.

"How do I say in Portugese that I can't eat anymore?"

The girl asked, lying on her towel stretched out on the hull of the motorboat belonging to the Senna family.

Y/N shielded the sun with her hand and glanced at Ayrton, who laughed at her question, sitting next to her and smoking a cigarette.

"It's not funny, your mom wants to fatten me up so that I'm heavier and slower than you on the track."

"Não aguento mais, tô chei", but even if you say it in Portugese, my mom won't listen to you anyway."

"I've never eaten such delicious food, but when we get back, I probably won't fit into my clothes anymore."

He released smoke from his lungs and involuntarily glanced at her when she turned onto her stomach and closed her eyes. Her hair, still wet from bathing in the lake, stuck to her shoulders, and her skin, once pale, slowly began to take on a blush from the sun.

"You look good, so don't worry."

"I didn't say I would look bad, just that I won't fit into my pants anymore."

"As long as you can fit into the car, you'll be fine."

The girl snorted, "Well, in that case, I have quite a reserve."

Y/N gathered her hair behind her shoulder and settled more comfortably, exposing herself to the pleasantly warming rays of the sun. Ayrton glanced down her body and only when the heat from his cigarette burned his fingers a little, he snap out of it. Did he really like the girl, or was it just that he spent so much time with her that he got used to her? He didn't know the answer to that question, but he knew that sometimes he found himself staring at her for a bit too long. Despite being a few years younger than him, she had feminine charms. He also objectively thought that the girl was attractive.

She didn't have much of a different opinion about him either because in her eyes, Ayrton was indeed a handsome man. He was tall, athletic, had beautiful brown eyes and hair of the same color, which often fell in curls onto his forehead. She liked his smile and the way he wrinkled his nose, which, like most of his body, was covered in freckles. But Ayrton appealed to her only as an older teammate, someone who was completely out of her reach, and for whom she was probably just an insignificant kid. At least that's what she thought.

They spent time at the lake until late afternoon, as for dinner, besides Ayrton's parents, his sister with Bruno, his nephew, was also supposed to appear. Upon returning to the Senna family's home, the girl took only a quick shower and threw on a thin, white dress because even though the day was slowly coming to an end, the temperature was still high. They spent the evening on the terrace, and time passed in a very pleasant atmosphere. Mrs. Senna made sure that only delicious dishes appeared on the table, while Mr. da Silva entertained the company with stories and jokes. Although Y/N didn't speak anything in Portugese except for the short phrases Ayrton had taught her, there were no communication problems for a moment. At one point, little Bruno grabbed the radio and turned up the volume, pulling the girl by the hand and inviting her to dance. The girl, already somewhat tipsy from wine, agreed without hesitation and followed the six-year-old, dancing with him barefoot on the still warm concrete. Ayrton's mother and sister sang along with the song, his father clapped his hands, and Ayrton himself looked at the scene with tenderness, laughing and sipping his beer. She took the boy in her arms and spun with him, dancing, to which Bruno laughed out loud. Although Ayrton's family had only met Y/N a few days ago, he was convinced, seeing with his own eyes, how much they liked her. It meant a lot to him.

"Tio, agora tio Ayrton!"

Bruno shouted and pointed at the man when a new song started playing. Ayrton laughed and shook his head, to which his sister started pulling his arm and, to the sounds of approval from the family, he stood up and approached the girl, who put the boy down on the ground.

"Querida senhora," he extended his hand towards her, slightly bowing, "may I?"

Y/N chuckled and nodded, extending her hand, which was met with numerous shouts and whistles.

"I can't dance, I can't dance at all."

She said through laughter when he pulled her closer and placed his hand on her waist.

"Everyone can dance to Brazilian rhythms, trust me."

Ayrton replied with an assuring smile and spinned her around, catching her again after a moment. They danced, understanding each other without words, laughing only when one of them accidentally bumped into someone or stepped on someone's foot.

The girl didn't know if her cheeks were burning from the sun, the alcohol, or the fact that she felt embarrassed by being so close to him. But she felt light and happy enough not to dwell on it. She wanted this evening to last as long as possible.

However, at some point, Bruno fell asleep on the chair, and Vivianne took him in her arms, announcing that she would put him to bed and she will also take a rest, wishing everyone a good night. Ayrton's mother, seeing that his dad had had enough beer, took him by the arm and, amid numerous protests, escorted him inside. The girl helped carry the dishes to the kitchen, and when she brought in the last batch of plates, Ayrton's mother hugged her tightly.

Y/N returned her embrace with a smile, wishing her a good night before returning to the terrace.

Seeing the expression on her face, Ayrton smiled too.

"They liked you, but I'm sure you noticed that yourself."

"They are very kind," the girl replied, closing the terrace doors, "you have a truly wonderful family."

Y/N approached the table and took a chair to sit on it, but Ayrton straightened up and patted his knees, indicating that she should sit on them. The girl accepted the invitation without protest and sat on them sideways, embracing him around the neck.

"I'm glad you agreed to come here with me," he said, looking into her eyes, to which she smiled.

"I'm glad you invited me."

For a moment, they looked at each other in silence, she on his lap, with her hand on his bare shoulders, he with one hand on her waist and the other caressing her exposed thigh. He raised his hand and brushed a lock of her hair behind her ear, touching her flushed cheek. The girl smiled at his gesture and closed her eyes.

"You're important to me, you know?"

"I am?"

She asked, looking at him again.

Ayrton nodded, stroking her cheek with his thumb. Y/N threaded her fingers into the hair resting at the base of his neck, stroking it lightly. At one point, without thinking or saying a word, he leaned towards her and kissed her. She kissed him back, touching his cheek with her other hand. Ayrton didn't break the kiss, he just hugged her tighter, pressing their bodies together. Y/N was returning each of his kisses and after a while their tongues started their love dance, rubbing against each other. Even though they were both a bit drunk, Ayrton wasn't sure how much he could afford. However, when she slightly opened her legs, giving him a silent invitation, he squeezed her thigh to which she sighed. He smiled against her lips, continuing to kiss her. When he felt the fabric of her underwear with his fingertips, he pulled away slightly, wanting to look at her face and see her reaction, but she pulled him closer again, connecting their lips in a kiss.

Malleus Draconia’s Flower Bouquet Meaning

I have been waiting and waiting for the release of Malleus’ 3rd Bday card with such anticipation. I literally waited every day until the time Twst JP usually updates with news for some semblance of Malleus Bday card news.

AND NOW MY BOY IS HERE AND HE LOOKS SO FINE PLEASE. His smirk with the fangs sends me. His wink is so cute! Lilia is raising these boys right! Look at HIM.

January is the moth of Diasomnia and I love it, we have Malleus, Lilia, Silver and Sebek card releases. (Diasomnia Stans I hope your gems survive). 

As I did with Lilia’s Bouquet Post , I will be writing more than I usually do. Malleus Draconia is one of my favorite twst characters and he deserves it and all the effort (in this love essay, I will). In addition, I will be adding possible theories along the way and will be mentioning book 7 too and other cards that have been released, so heed spoilers for book 7 and cards that might have not released yet.

At first glance, Malleus’ Bouquet reminded me of Trey’s Bouquet . In the sense that it reminded me of a salad, and I couldn’t help but laugh a bit because of it. When you think about some of the meanings previously discussed in Trey’s Bouquet, it applies to Malleus as well when you think about it: past, present, and future. But I’m getting ahead of myself, we will discuss that later.

It’s really nice seeing Malleus so happy especially without any worries right now (basically flirting with us lolol). After book 7 chapter 1, I am happy he is full of energy and amusement. 

I do wish that his bouquet had more colors to make it pop more, but like Lilia’s, Malleus’ bouquet does fit him rather well. It can give you a glimpse of his past and current mindset, and also a hint to the future of what may come. (please, my heart.) 

Some observations from just from a glance, Malleus’ bouquet may not pop as much color wise, but you know what it does really well? It blends into the environment rather seamlessly.  Unlike Trey, who doesn't like to stand out and would rather blend in, which shows in his flowers. For malleus, it is not by choice. He blends in seamlessly because he is forgotten by those around him. When he is not forgotten, people are scared of him and tend to run away. The only ones to truly notice him missing are Lilia, Sebek, Silver, and MC.

We know that Malleus hates being forgotten and left out and this bouquet shows that while he blends in to the environment, it is not by choice and some of the flower meanings show his feelings towards being forgotten and ostracized. (I’ll never forget you Malleus 💕💕). 

Greem flowers tend to be rare and on further research, they also tend to be mutations in some variations of flowers. This fits Malleus because we can all say that he is a highly respected figure, not only is he a future king in the Valley of Thorns, but he is one of the top ten strongest mages in the world. If we went further, Malleus is a type of dragon fae, and royalty, maybe he might or might not be the last of his kind? Only time will tell, as we know the only relative he has right now is his grandmother. I

In terms of magic power, malleus is extremely strong and we can see how the story swings and the narrative changes when he deigns to step in and help. Book 5, Malleus fixed the stage hence allowing for VDC to continue, and in book 6, he helped Vil by making him young again. We have seen in masquerade the magic potential he has and how that affects the environment as well, and in book 7 a well. Malleus is unique and rare, and that could also show why he is so revered heavily by everyone else when all he wants is to be invited and share experiences with others.

I love how Malleus is also winking in this card, as he is in other cards. You certainly get the Diasomnia closeness as because sebek was also winking in his cards. We also have the smile that Lilia and Silver all share too, which I think is cute! I might be wrong but I think all the third years so far have been winking?

Now, let’s talk about some rather interesting...moves that twst played with the release of this Malleus card. First of all, with the release of the Malleus Bday card, We also received the Silver Dorm SSR card. This is interesting because this is the first time they released a Dorm SSR card without a story update. What’s more, its rather interesting they chose to release it with the Malleus card which makes me wonder how purposely did they do this? Was this as a way to show the connection Silver and Malleus has? 

As in a sense, Malleus can be paralleled to Maleficent and Silver could be Aurora (and the Sword, Shield, and Prince Philip technically) from what we see on the surface level. It's as if they are telling us these two are more connected than we realize and maybe they are a mirror too (or like that one promo where you see Maleficent on one side and the princess on another as two opposite spectrums).

Considering the opposite styles that Malleus and Silver were raise (by Lilia no less), it hurts to see how much this is stressed. You can tell familial love will play a big role in book7 from this alone. It also makes it seem like they are pushing Malleus to play this evil role that he clearly doesn't want to be in when all he wants is to belong and be invited.

Another interesting point I want to bring up is that, Silver is the only one without the title that basically says “___ Protector of the Valley of Thorns” Instead, He is the sleeping guardian. So, we have this disconnect between the four and shows how much of the role Silver might play when it comes to the other three diasomnia residents.  This Post shows the English titles  and this post is a jp comment about it as well I believe .

It alludes more and more to the fact that Silver has a connection to ‘dreams’ and that could also be a hint on how Malleus and everyone could be saved given that Malleus is the King of the Abyss as well. Maybe, Silver’s UM is connected to dreams as everyone speculate, but I digress. We know at the end of the day, these two have a connection and only time will tell what kind of connection and what it will put everyone through (and how it will eventually wreck us too, get your tissue boxes ready everyone. Book 7 chapter 1 already came for us without reprieve.)

Another fact that I find funny is that Malleus’ Duo is Ace. So, I can’t wait to see how Ace and Malleus interact given that Ace....doesn’t care for manners when it comes to people in power and will basically say what's on his mind. Which, we can see from Endless Halloween. I also personally find it funny because many people tend to ship MC with Ace and Malleus and these two always end up in a triangle and I can’t wait to see what happens after the interview lol Ace also doesn’t have his UM so maybe its a hint of Ace’s role in Book 7 (he could be hiding it as well, since we know how much of a trickster he is).

Malleus’ card spells are similar to those of Idia’s Bday ones apparently. Which is funny and interesting given that Idia will play a big role in book 7, especially in terms of grief and moving on and recovering from the loss of a loved one.

I can’t wait to see Malleus’ groovy. I hope its either in dawn or dusk because that would not only be beautiful but give a wonderful symbolism as well. 

Malleus holding the bouquet so effortlessly also shows his strength, I mean look at him, no struggle at all.

You know what makes me so soft about Malleus’ bouquet? It’s that he has signs of those he loves in his bouquet. He has flowers that symbolizes Lilia, Sebek, Silver, and even MC/Yuu.

Now, lets talk about Flowers 🌺💚🌺💚

[As usual, my disclaimer from before stands, flowers have many different meanings depending on region and color, so the meanings I have might differ from the meanings you know.]

In addition, I know there were some feelings of sadness going around with Malleus’ bouquet because most of the associated flower language were negative, but remember every flower has more than one meaning and together, the flower language can change as a whole depending on the bouquet. It also depends on the meaning we choose to empathize over the others. 

His flowers are kind of hard to tell, so I put whichever ones I thought they might be. Get your hearts ready and anything you have that has Malleus’ face because you are going to want to hug him. (total opposite from how I wanted to yeet Lilia during his post lol) 

Flower Colors (general meaning): 

Green Flowers: Health, resilience, good fortune, and youth. We know Malleus is young in terms of Fae age and we know he also has to learn and mature more when in comes to certain instances over the others. Some examples we have seen was when things didn’t go his way and you can see the weather being affected, but also we have to consider that he never really got to act his age has he? Health and good fortune for his future.

White Flowers:  True love, purity, innocence, sympathy.  We know True Love Kiss plays a role in Sleeping Beauty and I can’t wait to see how it plays a role for book 7. In a way, Malleus is innocent in his experience with anything related to modern times, and his situation does make you feel for him. (Malleus, we love you 💕).

Red Flowers: Love, passion, pride, vigor, and strength. (rather fitting, wouldn’t you say?) 

Bouquet:

Green Roses: Renewal, rejuvenation of spirit and energy, growth, abundance, balance, stability, peace, good news and new beginnings. Possibly the future healing that Malleus will go through? (you know, after his mental breakdown...I know know, I’ll be quiet now) [To my knowledge, green roses do not mean jealously. It’s the yellow roses.] I was hoping they would give him red roses to symbolize his rose garden back home too. 

Carnation: Fascination, distinction, and love. In Greek, it is known as God’s Flower.  As some tend to worship Malleus like a God, it's rather fitting for him to have this flower. (Sebek and some diasomnia students come to mind).

Curcuma/Hidden Lilies: Love, Rebirth, Devotion, Purity, Fertility, clear and sincere intentions. When I first saw these, my mind literally went Lilies = Lilia and with several of the meanings it makes you wonder doesn’t it? Especially as Rebirth seems to be a themes in Malleus and Lilia’s bouquet. (Sleeping curse maybe?) These also look like the flowers you see in the Live Action Sleeping Beauty 2 Movie, during the wedding. You know when Maleficent walks Aurora down the Aisle. So it could also be stressing the relationship Malleus has with Silver. Technically, all three of them. Can be used to treated stomach problems and this makes me laugh because Lilia had stomach problems in that one Firelit Sky event, hence another factor in representing Lilia.

Green Lisanthus: Appreciation, charm, charisma, and confidence. (Malleus in a flower basically 💕)

Cala Lily (Burgundy): Life’s right of passage, purity, holiness, faithfulness, courage and determination. (Silver and Sebek determination to protecting their Lord.) 

Dracaena Fragans: meaning Dragon, financial and career success (he will make wonderful king), peace and good fortune.

Amaryllis: to sparkle, pride, strength, determination. These flowers blooms every year despite looking frail and it doesn’t take much to have them grow year after year. An interesting story is about a maiden who fell in love with a cold hearted man. She pierced her heart with a gold arrow and visited his cottage. After 30 days, her droplets of blood became beautiful flowers and the man fell in love with her and she was healed. Another type of Amaryllis is the cluster ones, we know it as the spider lilies. Common ones are the red spider lilies which is basically a red flag because it usually means death and last goodbye. This could symbolize the long life Malleus has ahead of him as well. White Amaryllis means beauty, devotion, and love. In addition, White Amaryllis symbolizes children and the innocence that comes from them. It reminds me of the story that Malleus told MC about how he just wanted to belong and had a tantrum that led to the castle becoming frozen in ice. Lilia was the only one who stepped forward and helped him and it implies that's how Malleus ended up loving ice cream. (My heeearrrttt) Also, the other story of how Lilia had his hair burned because baby malleus blew fire too lolol.

Houseleeks/Succulent: Always Living, enduring and timeless love, forever, does not change, Will live in harsh environments (My heart damnit, my heart).

Elderberry/Elder: inner strength, courage, calm fears, resilience, joy, protection from evil, prolong life, and peaceful sleep. “Eld” can also mean fire.

Olives: friendship and reconciliation, cleansing and healing, light, victory and richness, and above all, a sign of peace. (I’m not crying, you are!).

Hypericum Berries: symbol of peace, protection, rebirth 

Acai Palm: Nutritious, growth in wilderness.

Thistle: Pain, aggressiveness, pride, and Protection.

Cordylines: Added to flowers to add emphasize to other flowers meanings, good luck, and fortune. Often it is confused with Dracaena. 

Random Fact: Anniversaries could also be considered, since its the 3rd bdays for all the boys, their flower will be Sunflower: strength  be well, happiness, male healing, confidence, self-esteem, assertiveness. Sounds just like them, doesn’t it?

“Steve,” you whisper into the quiet room. The only other sound is the fan in the corner keeping you both cool in this summer heat.

He rolls over to face you, but his eyes remain closed. The reach of his hand finds you and pulls you closer.

“Good morning, sweetheart,” he says.

Finally opening his eyes, you look into them to find the softness you love.

“You know what today is, don’t you?” You ask him.

He pretends to think, furrowing his brow. You tap his chest lightly and he grins.

“It’s my birthday,” he sighs out.

“Why so glum about it, huh?” You know he has had a lot of birthdays now, so it’s not super fun for him to celebrate. But you wish he would relax and have a good day.

“It’s just another day,” Steve says. “I’ve got a few meetings.”

“Not anymore you don’t,” you say matter of factly. You kiss his cheeks and he shakes his head affectionately.

“You canceled them?” He asks. You nod in confirmation. “Of course you did.”

Steve shifts to lay on his back and you rest your chin on his chest, looking him over. He looks like his mind is wandering around. You move your hand slowly further down his body.

“Honey, I have to get up for work,” Steve says. His voice leaves room for a change of plans.

“I just told you work is canceled,” you say. “Come on, baby. I know you want a birthday present.”

Back in your tiny apartment, you wake up slowly and stretch. After finding the energy to make yourself a coffee, you slip back into bed to stay warm and scroll through your phone. Swiping past your calendar, you frown at a small note on this Friday’s date that you don’t remember adding. It’s only when you open it that you realise it was something you’d put in during the Blip, set up to recur annually.

Finally getting out of bed, you rummage around in your closet for some clean workout clothes. A trip to the gym at the Thunderbolts building would be a good way as any other to start the day.

When you get to the gym, Walker’s the only other person there, so you put in your headphones and studiously ignore him until he leaves. You complete your workout without anyone else appearing, then grab a quick shower and head to the shared kitchen on the residential floor. After chewing thoughtfully on your food, you explain that surely keeping in shape for missions was part of your job, and nutrition was an important part of that. “Plus, I’m basically just catering at this point,” you finish, gesturing to where Yelena was devouring half of your lunch.

“Fine,” Val concedes, as though she couldn’t think of anything she cared less about anyway, “Yelena, now that you’ve eaten, you can come back and finish being briefed for your next mission.”

It was probably a good thing that Yelena’s response - which you were pretty sure was just a string of Russian profanities - was basically unintelligible through her mouthful of food, but she got up anyway and reluctantly followed Val out of the room, leaving you alone with Bucky.

“You want some too?” You ask, pointing at the sandwich ingredients.

“Sure,” he replies, joining you at the counter to make his own.

You watch him silently as you finish eating, then ask casually, “So, it’s your birthday this weekend, right? Doing anything for it?”

He glances at you in surprise, presumably not expecting you to have noticed, or known, the date.

“Yeah,” he responds, “Sam’s coming in for a visit on Saturday, he has…plans.” He sounded apprehensive at the prospect of Sam’s surprise evening, which made you smile.

“But isn’t your birthday the Friday?”

“Yeah, but he’s busy in DC then.”

“So what are you doing on the actual day?”

Bucky frowns slightly, “Nothing. The day after’s fine.”

“Well sure,” you lean a hip on the counter to tilt towards him, “But you have to do something on the actual day. Doesn’t have to be a big thing, or even with anyone else. Just, I don’t know, eat your favourite meal, watch your favourite movie…”

You trail off expectantly, but Bucky just shrugs.

“Okay, so what do you do when you want to treat yourself? Something you enjoy but don’t get to do that often.”

Bucky stares at you blankly. You boggle incredulously back at him.

“Oh come on! Even Steve would indulge in the occasional Twinkies binge. There must be something?”

Bucky’s brow was furrowed in thought, “I guess I like training. Makes me feel useful.”

“Bucky, no!” you groan, “For one thing, you do that every day, for another, ‘exercising’ and ‘being useful’ are not treats. You need something that’s selfish, just for you.”

Bucky just shrugs in response, “I don’t know what to tell you.”

You sigh, “Well, this needs to be dealt with,” you cross your arms and chew on your lip thoughtfully, remembering the stories Steve shared with you about their lives in the ‘40s.

“We could go to Coney Island? Or out dancing? From what I heard you were always trying to drag Steve to stuff like that.”

“We?”

“Yeah, can just be you and me or we could invite some of the others. Not Walker though.” You add darkly. “Or I guess maybe you’re doing stuff like that with Sam. We could do something quieter - a night in, take-out and movies?”

Bucky’s looking at you strangely.

“Or if you just want to be alone, you can still do that. I can recommend you some stuff you might like,” you grin at him, “I’ll even generously share my streaming password with you.”

Bucky still looks confused, blinking a few times before he manages to reply.

“A movie night sounds…okay. Not with the others. But you don’t have to come over, you probably have a better way to spend your Friday night.” He flashes you a quick smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes, and you shake your head.

“I’d like to spend the night with you,” you reply simply, and truthfully, “So, any favourite foods?”

You chat for a little longer, coming up with ideas for the evening and noting down his home address. You leave looking forward to the evening - it’ll be nice to spend some time with Bucky outside of missions and training.

Soon enough, Friday rolls around. After working a shift at your day job, you sweet-talk a co-worker into letting you skip out early, and make your way to Brooklyn. Bucky lives in the same neighbourhood Steve used to, so you know it fairly well, and on your way you pick up beers, birthday cake and a pizza, rushing to get to his apartment before it gets cold. Someone leaving the building lets you in, and you head up the stairs to Bucky’s front door.

Trying to keep both the pizza and cake boxes flat, you awkwardly wedge the cake against your hip, balance the pizza between your other hand and shoulder, grip the pack of beer under your elbow, and gently kick the door in lieu of knocking. It’s opened quickly by Bucky, dressed casually in dark jeans and a black t-shirt, his bright eyes amused at the number of things you’re carrying.

“Let me get that,” he offers immediately. You let him take the pizza and beer, and follow him into the apartment. It’s clean, but a little too tidy, looking more like an empty hotel room than a lived-in home.

“You didn’t need to bring all this,” he says, looking curiously at the bakery box, “I have drinks already.”

“Better to have too much than too little,” you answer cheerily, setting the cake down on his kitchen counter, “Now, this is for later,” you place your hand on the closed box, “But the pizza is for now. Unfortunately, you live in Brooklyn, so the actual best pizza in the city would be cold by the time I got it over here, but I’ve heard some people say Grimaldi’s is the best. Obviously, they’re wrong, but you’re a weird Brooklyn guy too, so let’s see what you think.”

Bucky chuckles, “Not weird in a way that means I can’t properly judge a pizza.”

You give him a look that says you’re highly sceptical of that, before pulling a birthday card out of your bag and presenting it to him with a smile.

“Happy Birthday, Bucky.”

He takes the card from you with a soft thanks, opens it and laughs, “What…?”

You grin back at him, “For some reason I couldn’t find a card for a 106 year old, so I modified this one. It suits you, don’t you think?”

The card is for a 10th birthday, and you’ve drawn a big 6 on it, so it now reads “106 years old today!” above a cartoon dinosaur wearing a top hat.

“A dinosaur?” Bucky questions, failing to suppress his smile.

“Because you like science…and dinosaurs are really old, like you.” You beam at him as though this should be obvious, “but, as you can see, this one’s fancy too. He’s a gentleman dinosaur.”

“You are so strange,” Bucky mutters, shaking his head.

You shrug, “Well, that makes two of us. You got a bottle opener?”

You grab a beer for each of you, noticing Bucky’s shy smile as he reads the message you’ve written inside the card.

Happy Birthday to my favourite centenarian! There’s no one I’d rather be spending time spying on and punching people with. I’m glad we’re on the same team.

You chat over movie choices while you eat the pizza, which you reluctantly admit is pretty good. You’re aware of Bucky’s love for The Lord of the Rings, and Steve had mentioned he was interested in science and futurism, so you suggest some fantasy and sci-fi choices. In the end Bucky decides on Alien - double billed with Aliens, at your insistence - with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for the end of the night.

“If there’s time,” he qualifies, “You don’t have to stay for all three if you don’t want to. It’ll be pretty late by then.”

You smile, knowing you won’t want to leave no matter how late it is.

“I think you underestimate me, Buck. I’m a night owl, there’s no such thing as too late for me.”

Once you’re done eating, you settle comfortably onto his couch to start watching. After the first film ends, you take advantage of Bucky’s trip to the bathroom to take the cake out of its box and stick in a few candles. You’ve just got the last one lit and turned off the lights when he comes back.

“Happy Birthday Bucky,” you say with a smile, presenting him with the cake.

His eyes, shimmering in the candlelight, swim with gratitude, and you feel a rush of protective affection for him at how overwhelmed he is by the smallest things.

“Make a wish,” you add softly, holding the cake out towards him.

Bucky holds your gaze for a long moment, moving in close to you and covering your hands with his, as though to help hold the cake steady. Maintaining eye contact until the last possible moment, he leans forward and blows. You’re surprised at the sudden, hot pulse of lust that rips through you as he does, your lips parting involuntarily as the feeling pools between your legs.

You’d been attracted to him since you met, but something about his tender, deliberate movements was making your knees weak. As Bucky straightens up you see him note the bob of your throat as you swallow, and a cocky smile pulls at the corner of his lips. You take a deep breath and drag your eyes from his smooth, enticing mouth.

“Ready for something sweet?” you ask.

“Definitely.”

A couple slices of cake and a few hours later, you’ve fallen asleep on Bucky’s couch, tucked up comfortably under his arm, a blanket spread across you both. The third movie ended more than half an hour ago, but Bucky hasn’t wanted to wake you, instead enjoying the sensation of your warm body pressed against him, turning his face slightly to breathe in the scent from your hair where your head leans against his shoulder. Just the fact that you’re comfortable enough to fall asleep on him like this makes his heart swell.

But the clock creeps further into the wee hours, so making a decision, Bucky carefully wraps you in the blanket and lifts you up, taking you to his bedroom. You stir slightly, and as he sets you down on the cold bed, you open your eyes.

“Bucky,” you mumble, your voice full of sleep.

He hushes you gently, “It’s okay, stay asleep,” he whispers, before moving away.

You hum softly, and grab the front of his shirt, stopping him leaving.

“This is your bed,” you say sleepily.

“It is,” he agrees with a smile, “go back to sleep.”

“No,” you murmur, struggling to keep your eyes open, but not releasing your hold on him, “I’m not kicking you out of your own bed.”

Bucky smiles and leans back down, brushing the hair out of your eyes, “It’s really not a problem,” he assures you.

“Nope,” you say, less groggy and more insistent, “I can sleep on the couch if you want, but the only way I’m sleeping in your bed is if you’re in here with me."

Bucky hesitates. A part of him would love nothing more than to join you, to hold you close all night and wake up with you in his arms. But he doesn’t trust himself. And he doesn’t believe he deserves something so perfect and normal.

“It’s really okay,” he begins, but, more awake now, you cut him off.

“I promise to keep my hands to myself if that’s what you’re worried about,” you say with a sly, sleepy smile.

Bucky huffs out a quiet laugh and pauses, unsure how much to tell you.

“I get nightmares,” he admits quietly, “it - I might hurt you.”

Your eyes are fully open now, and you stare deep into his worried ones.

“Flashbacks?” you ask softly.

“Yes,” he seems surprised you know.

You nod slowly, “Been there. Having someone with you can help.”

Bucky frowns, frozen in indecision.

You roll your eyes and grab his flesh arm, tugging him down onto the bed beside you.

“Stop being an idiot and just sleep with me,” you tell him, moving closer to tuck the blanket over you both and gently rest your head on his chest, “Is this okay?” you check, registering his surprise, and when he nods you nestle into him with a contented sigh. After a moment you feel him relax beneath you. His right arm presses along your back, holding you to him, while he brings his vibranium arm up and across his body to wrap around your hip.

“Good night,” you mutter, smiling into his chest but not opening your eyes, “and happy birthday, again.”

He presses his lips to the top of your head and whispers back to you, “Good night. And thank you, again.”

Bucky wakes up early the next day, as usual. What’s not usual is your warm, sleeping form next to him - or the complete absence of nightmares. He feels more rested than he has in months, if not longer, even though it can’t be more than a few hours since he fell asleep.

Looking down at your face in the easy morning light, he watches you carefully, your face soft and unguarded as you sleep.

He realises that he hasn’t really seen you completely relaxed until now. You always have a sardonic smile and quick quip, are rolling your eyes in exasperation at your teammates, or are just closed off and blankly unreadable. Remembering what you said last night about having experience with flashback nightmares, he wonders if your attitude is a defence to keep people at a distance. And if so, is it intentional, or is it instinct? What have you been through to make you - in this way - similar to him?

The knowledge that you had let your defences down with him last night feels like an honour. He wonders if spending the night with him helped you as well, and hopes it did - he’s proud that he may have kept you safe and comfortable. Wrapping his arms around you tighter and letting himself drift back to sleep, he hopes that he gets the chance to learn all these things about you - and more.

A few hours later, you stir in his arms, rousing him from his doze. He pulls back slightly, and looks into your sleepily opening eyes.

“Morning,” you greet him groggily.

“Morning,” he smiles back, glad that you’re happy to stay close as you gradually return to consciousness.

Mirroring his smile, you glance down at the both of you and chuckle, “You know it was a good birthday when you wake up in yesterday’s clothes.”

“Yeah, I should probably shower,” Bucky realises, “And you can shower here too, if you want. I can lend you something to wear.”

You sleepily raise an eyebrow, “Is that a pointed comment?”

Bucky’s eyes widen, “No, no, I just-”

“I’m joking,” you swat him lightly on his chest and sit up, “It’s probably more considerate to everyone else on the subway to shower here. But - coffee?”

Bucky smiles. You might have fallen asleep before him last night, but you’re clearly not a morning person.

“How about I make coffee while you take a shower. And breakfast, I think I have some eggs.”

“That sounds like a great plan. But, uh,” you hesitate, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but I understand men from the ‘40s weren’t really taught to cook, and the one time I ate something Steve made…” you tail off, a look of disgust on your face at the memory.

Bucky laughs, “You can’t blame the ‘40s for that, Steve’s just a terrible cook. But trust me. How much could I mess up an egg?”

You narrow your eyes at him, your voice dripping with suspicion, “What Steve made me was supposed to be an omelette.”

Bucky snorts, “And let me guess, it looked and tasted like something he’d found on the sidewalk?”

“It looked and tasted like a hate crime! Against me personally, or all chickenkind, I’m not sure.”

“Okay,” Bucky assures you through his laughter, “I promise not to hurt you like that. My eggs will taste, at worst, like a recreational misdemeanour,” his smile fades suddenly, “Wait, Steve made you breakfast?”

Now it’s your turn to smile. Is Bucky jealous?

“No,” you respond with a smirk, “It was lunch. That would have been a terrible way to start the day.”

When you emerge from the shower, the smell of Bucky’s cooking reassures you that this will be a better experience than Steve’s ‘omelette’. You dress in the sweats Bucky’s laid out for you - failing to resist smelling his Henley as you pull it over your head - then move to the kitchen. Both of you drink coffee and eat the perfectly edible eggs, chatting companionably about what you’d watched the night before. You promise Bucky another movie night soon, ostensibly to help with his “cultural education”. He refuses to let you do the dishes, so the two of you wash and dry them side by side before he goes for his shower.

You’re enjoying another cup of coffee before you have to say goodbye and make your way back to Manhattan, when there’s a knock at the front door. You can still hear the water going from Bucky’s shower, and it sounded like he wasn’t expecting anyone at the moment. Confused, you pad over and look through the peephole, seeing a face that’s immediately recognisable.

You pull the door open with a wide smile, “Captain Wilson,” you greet Sam. He’s clearly shocked to see you opening Bucky’s door, but you gesture for him to come in, “So great to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.”

“Oh, you have?” Sam asks, struggling to conceal his delighted grin, “And please, call me Sam.”

You introduce yourself and shake hands.

“Bucky’s in the shower,” you explain, “But he’ll be out any minute.”

As if he heard you, Bucky bursts out of the bathroom, dripping wet and wearing only a towel loosely wrapped around his waist. You’d swear you could feel your pupils dilating with lust as you took him in - not to mention what the sight of him was doing to the rest of you.

Beads of water roll over his strong shoulders, one webbed with scars, the other lightly dusted with freckles, before sliding down the swell of his chest. His dog tags rest just above the hard ridges of his abs, and your eyes drift down, following the trail of dark hair where it led from his stomach beneath the towel, centred between a defined v-line you ache to trace with your tongue.

Bucky’s flustered voice just about brought you out of your libidinous reverie, “Sam! Didn’t you say you’d be getting in in the afternoon?”

Sam’s clearly enjoying the situation, “Oh yeah, ‘thanks man for coming to see me on my birthday’,” he mocks, “I got an earlier flight, thought we could start the celebrations early. But it looks like you already did.”

You return the delighted grin he gives you while Bucky grumpily thanks Sam for coming to visit and moves to greet him.

“Woah, you gotta put some clothes on before you get any closer,” Sam warns him light-heartedly.

“I think that’s my cue to leave,” you say, winking at Bucky as you drain the last of your coffee, “Nice to meet you Sam, I hope I’ll see you again some time.”

“I’m sure you will,” Sam still looks like the cat that got the cream.

Shrugging on your jacket and grabbing your bag, you approach Bucky confidently, “Have fun tonight, birthday boy,” you lightly place a hand on his bare waist and lean in to kiss him on the cheek, “but not too much fun.”

“Sure,” Bucky grumbles, but there’s a smile he can’t quite hide hovering on his lips, and he walks you to the door - always a gentleman even in just a towel.

You turn with a smile as you leave, “And give me a call if you make it across the river tonight.”

“I will,” Bucky nods, then reaches out to pull you close and adds, softly enough that Sam can’t hear, “And thank you for last night. And this morning. I had a great birthday.”

After a fraction of a second’s hesitation, he presses a soft kiss to your cheek, warming you head to toe.

You beam back at him, “I’m glad. I had fun too,” you step back reluctantly and call a goodbye to both him and Sam.

As you start down the corridor, you hear Sam’s voice even through the door.

“Dude, you had a girl here? Overnight!? Are you kidding me?”

You walk away with a smile, still hearing laughter and a final exclamation before you head out, something that sounds like, “As long as it’s not my sister.”

J2 have “stretched the truth” for years . One time being for example the infamous dinner story which Jared shared as being out with Gen and then Jensen later retold as being him and Jared. Or March 2021 when there were sightings of J2 in Colorado together around jensens bday but Jared claimed he wasn’t with him (and nearly slipped up with “I was with you on your birt-ER HAPPY BIRTHDAY ACKLES”! (1/2)

Safety ?)" Ever since I've realized that tinhats claim that they aren't hat, I'm not sure what I should say to clarify that I'm genuinely not a hat. Before I talk about this more, just be clear that I don't think that any of J2M are in a secret sexual relationship with each other. I think the Js marriages are real and that their wives aren't beards. Jared and Misha have both said that they are straight very recently.

So first, Jensen will insert himself into stories where he wasn't there to begin with. For example, when Jared and Gen had a couples staycation at the Driskill hotel, Jensen at one point claimed that he was the one pulling the sheets off of Jared. To me, this was very clearly a joke.

However, Jensen may have been with them at the restaurant in Italy as well - they traveled around together outside of the con on multiple occasions. He talked about how he went with Jared while Jared got a haircut and just hung out with him. So it wouldn't surprise me if he was always with them and they just dropped that part off the first telling.

There are several stories where we didn't get the full story until much later. What's interesting about that Walker photo is that anyone who actually watches Walker would know that it was from an earlier episode, so it's not like they are working extra hard to hide it. In the case of Walker, I think part of it is security, but I also think part of it is them trying to prove that they can stand independently of each other.

And it's not just with Jared, Jensen will do this with Misha too. For example, when it came to the infamous house rental story, Jensen initially tried to say that they didn't sleep in the house and was clearly reluctant to tell the whole story. Jared barrelled on. Misha brought up the house rental story at a recent con and clipped out much of it, especially the gay porn part. I think he forgot that they already told it to us at Jibcon.

It was also funny seeing fandom reaction to that because the J2 tinhats thought that J2 shared the room, the Cockles tinhats thought that Cockles shared the room. I saw a lot of "why are they lying about this?" FWIW, I don't think they are lying about where they slept.

Also, AFAIK, Jensen has never once talked about Misha staying with him or their "slumber parties". Misha and Jared have been the ones to talk about Misha staying in Jared's apartment in Van. DJ talked about how Misha mostly stays with Jensen when he's shooting in Van. Rob talked about the Jacksonville "slumber party".

Jensen is a very private person and is much more concerned with his public appearance. Do you remember the It Gets Better Campaign? In 2010, a bunch of people released videos telling young queer people that their lives will improve. Obama even did it. I've heard that Jared really wanted to do it, but Jensen was hesitant and, in the end, Jared didn't do it because it would look awkward if Jared did it alone. From what I hear, Jensen thought it would be considered as "proof" to the tinhats, which is why he didn't want to do it.

Sometimes they are doing things they shouldn't be doing. Like Jared going to visit Jensen in Colorado. Jared also wasn't supposed to be skiing and had in his contract that he wouldn't ski, but still skied anyway.

anyway i enjoyed the card story. i think most of it was a lot of fun, the action/tension moments were well executed, and the last twenty minutes or so were definitely brutal, oof. i’ll consider saving for this card but it’s definitely not a necessity. also i don’t think i’ll be translating it, or at least, it wouldn’t be a priority for me to translate.

not a proper “live”blog since i read this at work so this is more of a review

but i really liked the story. possibly loved it, i’ll have to think about it a bit more

vyn’s personality is like... a little different in here. his earlier scenes have a LOT of his mocking unscrupulous people and not bothering to hide his disdain for them. remember how he was with that PUA in his personal story and that very disdainful expression he had? that energy x10. also a wider range of emotion/sprite expressions used with him

so honestly it’s VERY tragic that this was AI voiced bc it would have been so awesome to have jiang guangtao actually voicing him TT i’ll probably rewatch at least parts of it when other dubs release

the story reminded me a bit of his desert card since mc helps him unveil a conspiracy and he and mc need to work together to take down the true threat. like, this one definitely feels more gritty and grounded, and imo that’s closest in tone to the desert AU card; gufeng AU is meant to be like a myth/legend, and bakerlon was almost... whimsical? ANYWAY back to the main point, i liked how it felt more serious, they had to test each other a bit because trust (at first) isn’t certain, and i liked that a lot because doubt was such a big thing for their canon storyline. also i really like how they feel more like equals in this story! usually there’s a bit of an imbalance in identities where vyn is more powerful, but it definitely feels different in this one. maybe also because they made vyn more emotional/unstable (and have a very... luke-esque trope) in this one?

anyway, i liked it more than i thought i would. definitely considering saving for it and/or translating

but i think the flaws in question are ones that aren’t necessarily present in their canon personality, so YMMV on whether it’s an interesting character interpretation or if it crosses the line of ooc

this may be bc i JUST reread my post about artem’s personal story, him hiding something so important from mc and in that way holding her back is a little immersion-breaking for me. and mc being rather inexperienced and letting emotions win out when she needs to take action was also a bit much for me

but ALSO maybe that criticism is largely due to bias on my part, because you could probably make a really similar argument about gufeng marius, but i liked that card. maybe because it’s marius and i’ve been wanting tot to go yandere for so long i would reread it so i could analyze it more clearly but I DON’T HAVE THE CARD YET

honestly the more i think about it in comparison to gufeng marius the more accepting i am of the card

vyn’s card gets the highest ranking because i was invested the entire time and i can’t remember any major complaints about it (or at least about the story, i’m still sad that we had AI voicing for such emotional scenes)

luke and marius are pretty similar. not really any complaints but also not as much that lingers in my mind. i think luke edges out marius for me because there’s better foreshadowing with things that appeared earlier in the card showing up again later.

artem depends so much on how you feel about the direction they took with the characters that i can see it varying wildly. for me it’s still near the end though

ok to be FAIR. there could also be an argument made that vyn is a little ooc here. but he also had a very different background; instead of growing up as royalty and being instilled with gentlemanly manners, he grew up being told he would die at age 9 and still had his death predicted in the year the card happens and lived his whole life conscious of his mortality. and he used this borrowed time to heal as many injured people as he could, even against the wishes of powerful underground organization/s. so yeah i can believe that he could be rougher, sharper in tone, a little less coolheaded. also, consider : it’s very entertaining to see him like this
