Smart Bricker is so important to me! Especially because my thing with the Applebees siblings is they all have at least some level of ADHD in different ways. His thoughts truly run a mile a minute there is always at least 5 things ticking around in his head. Helio gave him ADHD because he knew if he didn't Bricker would lock in so hard he'd ascend to godhood /lh. He also made Bricker grow up in a racist church because he knew if he ever linked up with Adaine and Riz nothing would ever have stakes ever because they'd have it solved like that. Give king like one Fantasy Adderall and he's so focused you're not hearing from him for days.
And like, his siblings know he's fiercely smart as well like he's on Kristen's list of the smartest people she knows. Like she fully believes (though she'd never say this to him because that's embarrassing) no matter what he wants to do with life he can do it because he has the brains for it.
The converse is that if he has no interest in something he does not even pretend to GAF. Like everyone thinks he's bad at like, math because he doesn't try at it but its like he helps C with his homework a lot and he's fine. He just doesn't like math so he sees no reason to bother. Like yknow that kid in the back of the classroom who says ''Miss when are we ever gonna need this in life??'' That's him but 1. He keeps that to himself and 2. He thinks that about math in general. He completely genuinely sees no practical application for math in life.
Arguably him being smart is what enables him to be such a smartass. He's truly that one Mulaney bit that's like ''13 year olds are the meanest people in the world because 13 year olds will make fun of you but in an accurate way, they will get to the thing you don't like about you without even looking at you for long.''
And also as a fun tidbit. I agree he's definitely gay and you'll hate me for this one but his awakening was definitely Ricky Martin. I know he watched the Livin La Vida Loca music video on loop, because he ''liked the song''. Pre-Aguefort Kristen who didn't yet know what a gay person was thought it was just because he appreciated Ricky as an artist. It was not. She figured it out a few months after starting Aguefort but decided to let him realise it first and come to her.
the ricky martin thing is killig me so so much. literally he is obsessed with him but does not get it until he Gets It and. slightly life shattering what do you mean he just likes ricky martin the average amount (no one has had to guts to tell him the average amount is so low)
he has so little interest in the things he has qualified as unimportant. literally what do you mean he is going to use the quadratic formula? magic exists that is dumb and he doesn't care (does he know the whole formula and how to do it but just refuses to cuz it's boring? absolutly). he's one of those kids that is really good at getting the class off topic but the teachers are too charmed by him to stop it which is also. so annoying to his siblings cuz by god do adults like bricker and he doesn't get in trouble for anything cuz of it.
also dude. ur so absolutely right if him and adaine and riz all got together they would truly be such an unstoppable force it's just the issue that he's still dealing with how to be normal around other races cuz he has been so programmed with fucked up info and adiane and riz both have such a low tolerence of tweens. aelwyn can take the scathing jabs cuz she can she come right back at him but riz and adaine are morally conflicted over being mean to a 13 year old which. skill issue on thier part.
sorry yeah the ricky martin thing is going to haunt me and the only thing i can think to add is that it would translate bricker having a crush on ragh if he ever met him

haikyuu esl accent headcanons ig miyagi prefectural edition
Karasuno
- Kageyama and Hinata are both idiots and barely pass english to begin with but I like to imagine Karasuno has an english teacher that studied/came from somewhere in Canada, so they (and all of Karasuno) end up with a classic mix of American/British vocabulary
- Daichi s u c k s at english and can barely pass the class but his accent is PERFECT and when he manages to put together an actual sentence you wouldnt believe he was esl
- by contrast Suga BREEZED through english classes, absolutely nailing the written, aural and reading portions but got <10% on his spoken exam because he's absolutely incomprehensible and cannot get his accent down
- Tsukishima and Yamaguchi get the highest grades in english out of all of Karasuno, but both of them inexplicably picked up a british accent (southern more, london area) and they refuse to admit that it's because of the sheer volume of Great British Bake-Off they've watched/had on in the background while doing homework.
- Noya and Tanaka both failed english their first year but realized if they convinced Suga and Daichi, separately, to tutor them, they could get a passing grade
- somehow Suga and Daichi have never considered helping each other
- Asahi is not the best at english but he is their english teacher's favourite
Shiratorizawa
- Ushijima obviously speaks with an american accent when speaking english bc he practices most often with his father (west coast american accent, then)
-as a result the whole of Shiratorizawa kinda does the same because of subconsciously trying to mimic Ushiwaka
- with the exception of Tendou (who ends up bastardizing his english with a french accent??? he ends up damn near a polyglot but is incomprehensible in every language)
- and semi, who ends up with a more british accent (from the north, though) due to the british guitar teacher he takes lessons from. the rest of shiratorizawa absolutely tear him apart for this but he doesnt even realize he's doing it and has picked up british slang (trolley, jumper, lift) when speaking english
- Stz's english program is Very Good but their professors are all very old and mean and as a result most of the team developes a deep hatred of studying english/going to language classes in general
Aoba Johsai
- I like to imagine Aoba Johsai has a really fantasic english teacher/program, but they partnered with an abroad exchange to do so and have a disproportionate about of New Zealanders and Aussies teaching
- So the third years are all pretty fantastic with their english but the other schools hear them speak and are like "that CANNOT be right" because they all have heavy kiwi accents that the others have never heard
- inexplicably Kyotani has a much more distinct North American accent (probably somewhere eastern, great lakes area) and he Will Not explain himself until he begrudingly admits that he's actually started learning english when he was really young from an American teacher and is VERY GOOD but has been intentionally throwing tests so that nobody would ask him to tutor them
- first/second years ask him to tutor them immediately upon learning this and he refuses
- Oikawa is irritatingly good at languages, and has to force Iwaizumi to study. Iwa is usually pretty good with keeping on top of school work but he just HATES conjugations and tenses and has no memory for it.
- once Oikawa realizes the other schools are making fun of their english accents/professors, he works out the dialects of thr other english countries and just switches between then depending on who he's speaking to. the rest of seijoh hates this because when he's not using the kiwi accent they cannot understand him.

Have me do your homework but not talk to me? Got it.
This happened years ago during my freshman year of high school. I went to a newer STEM based charter school and so one of the classes we had was programming. I already had a good understanding of the basics of Python before even taking the class so it was my “easy A” class. Well, being that I was at a new school and have never been the ‘popular girl’ I didn’t want to lean too heavy into the nerd that I ultimately am and instead tried to be cool. In doing so, I started to establish a friendship with the ‘It girl’ of our school. We were talking about programming class and she mentioned how the homework was impossible for her and to kind of try to solidify our friendship, I offered to do it for her. Genuinely, I didn’t mind for a while. It helped me practice things that otherwise I would have forgotten and gave me more excuses to code. Well, after a while, we would only talk to ensure I had done her homework (I guess she didn’t think to just login to check herself?) and that was it. So eventually I started to do her homework less and less until fully stopping. Suddenly, her grade went down and she realized it was because her homework was not being done and when she confronted me about it I was very honest. Now, here’s where the unintentional revenge happened.
So, the homework program they used for our coding class had a major programming flaw ironically enough. If you opened up an assignment, didn’t type anything, and hit continue… it counted it as 100%. Not just ‘Started’ or ‘Viewed’ it registered as a full 100% completed and correct. This meant that when the teacher looked, she would assume the program meant to grade your code graded it correctly and just copied the grade over. So, in order to balance my homework and hers, towards the end before I entirely stopped doing her homework I just skipped all of her assignments. One day when me and her were talking I had told her about this trick but said I didn’t do it too often, just on the extremely difficult assignments. Well, she wanted to try and get back at me for not doing her homework so she went to the teacher and told them how “some people aren’t doing the assignments and instead are just hitting continue.” So, the teacher painstakingly went through all of the kids homework assignments and adjusted the grades accordingly. Everyone went down at least one letter grade, including her. She went down from I believe a C or D to full on failing. However, my grade didn’t move. I’m assuming since the teacher knew I loved coding and had a background in it before even going to that highschool that there was no need to go through my assignments. ‘It girl’ ended up screwing herself over so bad she had to retake the class and I got my ‘easy A’.
Next time you want someone to do that big of a favor, at least try to talk to them.

So High School ft. Adam Cole | Chapter 4

The days and nights passed, as they always did.  Kyle and Janie’s visit brought some much needed positivity in the household, despite the days leading up to Austin’s surgery.  He wouldn’t admit it out loud, but he was nervous.  Maybe not as nervous as when he had his concussion and was checking in with the brain doctor three times a week, but nervous nonetheless.  The surgery wouldn’t take more than an hour.  He could start physiotherapy three weeks later, which was a blessing because he was becoming a bit stir crazy not being able to go to the gym.  But anytime he had to be put under, he got nervous. 
“D’you want to watch anything before bed?” Violet asked as she emerged from their ensuite, switching off the light.
“No, I’m good,” Austin shook his head.  “I want to get a good night’s sleep before the surgery.  Well, at least try to.”
As Violet got into bed, she got as close as she could to him before giving him a few quick, light kisses.  “I’ll make sure I’m the last person you see before you go under and the first person you see when you wake up.”
Austin smiled.  “I’m gonna wake up high thinking you did the surgery and that’ll scare me shitless.”
Violet snorted and they both began giggling, lightening up the mood.  “God knows med school wasn’t my calling,” she quipped.
“I think you did pretty good regardless.”
“I have you, don’t I?”
Austin smiled.  He loved her so fucking much.  “C’mere,” he whispered, wanting her close again so he could kiss her one, two, three times, each time longer than the last.  “I love you.”
Violet kissed him again, and again, and again – hands wandering, tongues making a mess.  It wasn’t long before her hand made it under the waistband of Austin’s boxers.  “Let me show you how much I love you.”

On Tuesday after school, as Violet was making her way to the bus stop, she saw Austin waiting too, but noticed his demeanour was completely different than how she knew it.  He was angry.  Not just angry – pissed.   She made it just in time to get on the bus, and they took their usual seats, Austin letting her get into the window seat before sitting beside her.  “Is everything okay?” she asked, worried.
“No, everything is not okay,” he grumbled.
“What’s wrong?”
He sighed.  “Stupid math.”
“What happened?”
“I failed my last test on polynomial graphs,” he revealed.  “My teacher says if I don’t get at least a 70 on the next test my mark is gonna dip below a C, and I can’t – my parents have this stipulation that all my grades have to be above a C or else they don’t let me go to wrestling shows in Philly.”
After their conversation at Francesco’s after the dreadful party, she knew and understood how important that was to Austin.  “I can help,” she offered.
Austin was still in his own world, though.  Still spiralling a bit.  “Not to mention that if my overall average isn’t high enough, Manheim Community Centre won’t hire me in the spring and summer to do swimming lessons as part of their student hiring program, and I really need that job—”
“—Austin.”
He snapped out of it.  “What?”
“I can help you,” Violet repeated.  “When’s your test?”
“Friday.”
“That means we have three days to study,” she said assertively.  “We’ll study at your house every day after school until the test, until you’re confident you can get that mark.”
Austin was flabbergasted.  None of his other friends had volunteered their time or energy to help him.  Violet was the only one who was going to willingly take time out of her own schedule and homework – which was more academically challenging than his, no doubt – to help him, all so he could get a C.  “You’d do that for me?”
“We’re friends, aren’t we?” she quipped back.  “Besides, I know now how much wrestling means to you.  You shouldn’t not go see shows just because of a math mark.  I mean, I understand why your parents have that stipulation – mine do too – but math shouldn’t get in the way of it.”
Austin nodded.  There was a moment of silence between them as he realized the magnitude of Violet’s generosity.  “What’s your parents’ stipulation?” he asked.
“Straight As are a non-negotiable.  That and at least two extra-curriculars.  That’s why I’m so involved in student government and the school newspaper,” she revealed.  “Plus, I do this language program at home – you know how like, kids will go to Greek school or Hebrew school on the weekends?  Well mine is online and it’s basically German school.  That way I can speak to my grandparents.  Oh, and I play tennis.”
Austin felt his head spin at the thought of everything she had to do on top of all her regular school work.  Jugging all that with expectations of getting into an Ivy League like UPenn or a university like Georgetown?  He’d be shitting himself.  “Does it ever get hard for you…you know, balancing everything?”
Violet bit her bottom lip and averted her eyes.  “I mean, yeah, sometimes,” she mumbled out, as if she didn’t want to.  She knew she had to be honest with him because he was only ever honest with her.  “It can be a lot, like when things start to add up over the week, especially when I want to have a social life, you know?  Like at the end of the day I’m just a teenage girl.  I want to be out with my friends and at the same parties they are.”
Austin nodded.  “Yeah, I get it.”
“I think it’s harder because I’m an only child,” she continued.  He noticed that she was picking at her signature red nail polish.  “They just have high hopes for me.  I get it, I really do.  I just want a bit of a break sometimes.  The world won’t end if I get a B on a French vocabulary test, you know?”
Austin gave her a smile.  “I know,” he nodded.  “The world won’t end if I get below a C in math, either.”
He raised his hand and pushed hers apart playfully, making sure she stopped picking at her nails.  She looked at him finally, giving him a smile, stopping her nervous habit.  Her hands were as soft as Austin remembered them.
When they arrived at his usual bus stop, they got off together and he led the way to his house, which was only a short walk down the road.  As they approached the small yellow bungalow, Austin got nervous.  Having seen even just the outside and front foyer of Violet’s house, the difference was night at day.  He was pretty sure three of his houses could fit in her house.  When he looked over at her, she was smiling.  “Your house is beautiful,” she said, with such genuine earnestness that he knew she meant it.  “I love the yellow.”
“My grandma’s gonna be home,” he didn’t know what else to say.  He didn’t know why he was so nervous.
“That’s cool.  I’m a grandma whisperer too,” she winked.
When they walked in, Violet could hear the sound of a TV being on.  She slipped off her Uggs and followed Austin around the entrance wall that was covered in family photos.  Photos from family vacations to the beach, Washington D.C., and some other places Violet couldn’t quite make out.  “Nana, I’m home,” Austin called out.
Violet saw his grandma on the couch watching TV, and once she noticed a girl in a very formal Catholic school uniform was with her grandson, a highly bemused look adorned her face.  “Hi sweetie,” his grandma greeted.  “How was school today?”
“It was alright.  Same old, same old.”
“And who is this?”
Austin knew he wouldn’t have to do any introductions.  If the late night phone call with his mom was any indication, Violet could hold her own.  He didn’t know many people who were as self-assured as she was.  “Hello, it’s very nice to meet you,” Violet began, approaching the couch with her hand extended so grandma wouldn’t have to get up.  “I’m Violet Schwarzkopf, one of Austin’s friends.”
“Nice to meet you.  I’m Austin’s grandmother Judy,” she said.  “That uniform doesn’t look like you go to Lancaster West.”
“Oh, no ma’am,” Violet shook her head, smiling a little.  She broke out the ma’am – Austin had to hold back his own laugher.  “I actually go to St. Anne’s Academy, down the street from Lancaster West.  I’m just here to help Austin with some Algebra 2 homework for his test on Friday.  I promise we’ll be out of your way and won’t be too loud.”
Nana smiled.  Austin smiled at her smiling.  Clearly Violet was making a great first impression.  “That’s quite alright, dear.  Anything to help Austin get the grades he needs to do the things he wants,” she gave her grandson a knowing look.  “You’ll be fine to go in the kitchen then…the TV won’t be too loud in there.”
“Do you need anything while you’re in there?  A glass of water?  Some snacks?” Violet asked.
“Do you know how to make a gin martini?” Judy quipped.  Everybody laughed.  “I’ll be fine.  You two go ahead and study.”
Austin led Violet through to the kitchen, a small U-shaped space with old wood cabinets and a big window overlooking part of the yard.  There was a round table against the wall with no cabinets.  Violet sat at the table while Austin went into the fridge.  “Want anything?” he asked.
“Where have you guys gone on family trips?” she completely ignored his question, looking instead at some more of the family photos on the wall above the table. 
Austin glanced over from behind the fridge door.  “Um, before my parents divorced, we used to drive down to Myrtle Beach every summer and spend a couple of weeks there,” he said.  “My dad took my brother and I to D.C. a few summers ago, and my mom took us to New York the summer after that.”
“That’s so cool,” Violet smiled.  “D.C.’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?  I love the Georgetown neighbourhood.”
“What about your family?”
“We’re pretty big skiers, so a lot of our trips revolve around skiing.  Usually during Christmas Break we head somewhere like Whistler or Mont Tremblant or Telluride.  Then in the summers its always about two weeks in Toronto so my mom can see her family, then we fly to Berlin so my dad can see his family.  After that we spend time in different places like Italy or Spain or Portugal.”
The second the words finished coming out of her mouth, Violet regretted ever saying them out loud.  These were rich people things that rich people did.  Not everybody skied.  Not everybody summered in Europe.  Not everybody had the advantages that her family had, and she needed to learn once and for all that not everybody had the same life experiences she had.  To say these things out loud like they were nothing, with such nonchalance as if everybody did them – who did she think she was?
“That sounds really cool,” Austin finally said, closing the fridge.
“Sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“I know that just made me sound like a stuck up brat.”
“No it didn’t,” he assured her, handing her a bottle of blue Gatorade.  “I asked you a question and you answered it.”
“Yeah, but—”
“—But nothing,” he interrupted.  “I know your family is richer than mine, Violet.  That’s not a secret.”
Her stomach churned.  “I just don’t want it to be something that comes between us,” she admitted out loud, in a voice that was low and vulnerable. 
“Vi…” Austin cooed, pulling up a chair to sit, getting as close to her as he could without it being inappropriate.  “If it was something that could, it would have already.  It won’t.  It’s not going to.  I promise.  Do you?”
She was barely breathing from being so close to him.  What was this?  What was she feeling?  “I promise,” she nodded.
“Good,” he smiled at her, and she could see his dimples and the crinkle of his eyes.  “Now can you help me with Algebra 2?”
They took out the textbooks and got down to business, going over concepts and equations.  She looked over his test to see exactly where he went wrong.  Violet even made up equations for him to practice on the spot, which freaked him out.  Slowly but surely, though, he was getting it.  Violet was definitely a much better and clearer explainer than his teacher at Lancaster West.  She made sure he followed things step by step, and would check each time to make sure he was doing it right.  It helped that she smelled good and was so pretty.
Wait, what?
Before he knew it, he heard his mom walking through the door.  His younger brother was louder than she was, stomping through the house loudly and saying hi to Judy before his footsteps could be heard walking towards the kitchen.  When he saw Austin sitting at the table with Violet, he stopped dead in his tracks.  He looked like a deer caught in the headlights.  “Whoa.”
His brother still thought girls had cooties.  Austin rolled his eyes at his reaction.  “Hello to you too, Brent.”
“Austin?” he heard his mom call.
“I’m in the kitchen studying!” he called back, knowing that would get a reaction out of her.
“Studying?” his mother was clearly confused.  A few moments later, she appeared right behind Brent.  She tried not to let the shock and confusion overcome her face, but it was no use.  Her son was studying?  And there was a girl over?  “Oh, hello!” she greeted warmly as she saw Violet.
Violet immediately got up from her seat.  “Hello Ms. Jenkins.  It’s nice to finally meet you.  I’m Violet Schwarzkopf – we spoke on the phone a couple of weeks ago,” she extended her hand.
“I remember.  It’s nice to finally meet you as well.  Call me Cathy,” she shook her hand before looking over at her son.  “Special occasion?”
“Violet’s helping me with Algebra 2.  I have another test on Friday.”
“I hope that’s alright,” Violet interjected.
“Anything to get Austin studying,” Cathy quipped.  “Are you staying for dinner, Violet?”
“Oh no no no, no thank you.  I wouldn’t want to intrude like that.  Plus, on the days my dad has to stay in Philadelphia to lecture, my mom gets lonely and would want me home for dinner.”
Cathy made a mental note to ask about that sometime later.  Maybe she’d ask Austin.  “Well, the car is still warm, so I will at least drive you.  Where do you live?”
“In The Berries.”
Cranberry Street, Blueberry Street, Blackberry Street, and Mulberry Street – Cathy knew the area well.  Who would have thought her son would have a friend who lived in The Berries?  Violet got ready quickly – Austin too, since he was adamant on coming – and they drive through the streets of Manheim before reaching her house.  Violet made polite conversation and mentioned she’d be back the rest of the week to tutor to help Austin pass his test.  Cathy was impressed with the size of the house when she pulled into the driveway, waiting until Violet was inside before backing out.
As she put the car in drive, she looked at her son.  “What?” he asked.
“Oh, Austin.”

The following Monday, Violet couldn’t get to the bus stop after school quickly enough.  Austin told her Friday that he thought the test had gone well, and she was eager to see if he got his mark back.  She ran as fast as her Uggs would take her, now carrying a heavier load with the introduction of her winter jacket, too.  When she finally arrived, she was almost out of breath.  “Did you get it back yet?” she huffed.
Austin had the greatest poker face known to man.  She didn’t even notice that he had something in his hand to show her.  He flashed whatever he was holding in front of her.  Violet say a big red ‘75%’ on the top right corner.
She screamed.  Subconsciously, she did what she did with all her friends whenever they aced something: she extended her arms up in jubilation, then out, pulling him in for a hug.  A giant smile took over his face as he reciprocated, bringing her close and squeezing her so hard he lifted her up off the sidewalk.  “I couldn’t have done it without you,” he said once he set her down.  “I’m totally serious.  I’d be failing without you.”
“I didn’t write that test, you did!” she spun it back to him.
“My parents are gonna be so happy, you have no idea.”
“I bet.  Is there a wrestling show coming up that this saves?”
He looked at her.  He couldn’t believe she was hanging on to that the way she was.  It meant the world to him.  “Yeah.  Yeah, absolutely,” he stuttered out.  “Listen.  I have a US History test coming up.  I could really use your help again.  You just explain everything so easy.  Can you come over Friday night so we can have a big study session?  I can still bring you home by curfew.”
Friday night.  Her parents would be away at a Christmas dinner for the UPenn faculty in Philadelphia for the night, so she’d be home alone Friday night and much of Saturday since they’d be spending the day in the city.  She would have to ask their permission, but she didn’t see why they would say no, especially if it was tutoring.  “I’ll ask my parents, but I should be good.”
Austin smiled from ear to ear, his breath catching in his throat.  “Great.”

alright jesus christ, I'm making another "if shit goes down" post:
If something kicks off in *ran, which I cannot stress enough IS CURRENTLY AT PEACE (the rest of my family is taking their afternoon siesta as I write this and I've got my shower stuff set out for later; things are quiet af except for the birds and the occasional bad driver revving an engine), they will cut off the internet inside *ran before they do anything else. They want to control the narrative and make sure we don't get out our pleas for help/information on what'll be happening here.
I've already seen a post on here where people are cheering for "*ran" because they helped H*zbollah hit an *sraeli target... guys, that's not *ran. That's the I R G C, an extremist terrorist organisation that controls *ran's resources (incidentally, just like H*zbollah controls L*banon!). The *ranian people are being held hostage as a nation by the *RGC. We aren't them and they most certainly are not *ranians. Don't get it twisted. The *RGC is trying to kick off a direct war after a long while of fighting their proxy wars through Palestine and S*ria... and I don't know why the fuck it's happening now.
I'm in the middle of a programming course and I'm scrambling to do my homework for the next two weeks before the internet goes. I'm going to pack survival backpacks for my family tonight; water, money, id, antiseptic cream... and you know what's driving me up the fucking wall about all this? It's that all this is happening after vacuuming the whole fucking house for *ranian New Years, tidying all the fronds on the rugs with a comb until they all ran parallel, scrubbing hard water stains off the taps and the house plant leaves until they gleamed, making up a whole new blossom-print duvet-pillowcase set for the beds, buying pretty Soviet-print antique enamelware and ceramic water jugs for extra-cool water this summer...
I don't want to flee my own fucking house, so painstakingly cleaned and pretty and so recently full of guests for the New Year, to go where? Turkey? Armenia? And what the fuck for? Because the donkey testicles who've taken charge here don't care if we live or die?

“Mom, can I ask you something?”
“Of course, sweetie, what is it?”
“Well… I saw one of my friends being bullied today. They were pulling her hair and calling her ugly! What should I do?”
“That’s a tough one. Standing up for her could make you a target, but sitting back and doing nothing is wrong. What do you think you should do?”
“I think… I should stand up for her! I don’t care if I get bullied as long as they aren’t messing with her anymore.”
Veronica smiled, gently rubbing the top of her daughter’s head. “Bullying is a serious issue, sweetie. I admire your willingness to stand up for her. I’ll contact your teacher tomorrow and let her know what’s going on. The teachers shouldn’t be allowing such things to occur.”
“Okay! Thanks mom~”
“Anytime, sweetie.”

Winterfest is here and Bruce was kind enough to make everyone a grand breakfast!

After breakfast, little Bryanna asked, “Can we decorate the tree now?”
“Of course! I already pulled down the decorations,” replied Bruce.
Gary quirked a brow at his brother. “Can you even see with that thing?”
“I don’t need to see. Watch this.” Carefully, Bruce picked up one of the ornaments before slowly placing it on one of the branches.
“Boring~ Watch this!” Gary grinned, tossing the ornament onto the tree. It fell down toward the bottom before the string finally caught on one of the branches.
“Be careful!” huffed Bryanna, frowning at her older brother. “Don’t break them!”
Gary offered a sheepish smile. “Sorry, sis~”

im just feeling very demoralized. exceedingly so. i want to be a radiographer so badly. i wish i had known sooner but i want this so so so bad. and i cant help but think the reason i didnt get in this time is due to two things:
1. i had one (1) C on my transcript. in ECON. a class that has no bearing on my major but dampened my gpa exponentially
2. i had a panic attack during the venipuncture lab in one of my rad classes because i didnt adequately prepare myself for it. and i distinctly remembering my professor telling me "if you cant do this you arent cut out for this major" so i bet she brought that up during deliberation.
its not fair man. i dont live at home w my parents, i dont have a free schedule to study constantly. i have so many bills, so many doctors appointments and health issues to handle. i have to take care of my family.
i have such a bad needle phobia that i am actively working on. its bullshit! you dont NEED to do venipuncture as a radiographer! if i was specializing in CT/nucmed then YES 100% i understand that due to administering contrast. but every single nurse and radiographer ive spoken to has told me that learning that is a waste of time for me.
so how do i prove that im capable of handling the sight of needles now? drawing blood =/= seeing patients get their blood drawn/have IVs. they are not the same. i even wrote a whole essay about my phobia for that professor to help her see my side of it all. isnt it enough that im willing to expose myself to this daily because of how bad i want this?
i was fine, REALLY, i was fine not getting in this time. i really was because i was told left and right that getting in your first time is as likely as the lottery. so why does the girl that i see every single week for the past two semesters get in her first time? the same girl that ive constantly had to help through math and chemistry. who isnt confident in any of her homework answers. who needs me to hold her hand all the time through the complicated concepts.
and i know thats not fair of me to be angry at her. i know she works hard. she has good grades. shes in the honors program. but we both have medical experience. im 5+ years older than her. what did her personal statement have that mine didnt? why wasnt i good enough.
i know i am being over dramatic and acting very entitled but i cannot help but be angry and upset over this because i want this SO BADLY. i want this more than anything else and now i have to wait another year for it. a whole year of my life for the next slim chance of being picked. and what if im denied again? i'll be 27.
i want to start my career. i want to help my partner pay for our bills again. i want to stop struggling to survive. but now i have to wait and wait and wait. and i have to bend over backwards this next application period. get more certifications, dedicate more of my limited free time to volunteering. retake classes for a better gpa. spend more money. kill myself faster. struggle struggle struggle.
im so tired. im so fucking tired. im sick of being a student. im sick of college. im sick of feeling this age gap with my peers. im sick of being lonely. im sick of not being good enough. im sick of it all.
