Eleanor Roosevelt at the first anniversary celebration of the opening of the Strang Clinic (now the Strang Cancer Prevention Institute), an infirmary for women and children, April 26, 1934. May Strang, niece of Chauncey Depew, who with her sister, Dr. Elise L'Esperance, founded the Strang Clinic in memory of their mother, is shown pouring tea for Mrs. Roosevelt.
The Clinic was devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Dr. L’Esperance collaborated with Drs. May Edward Chinn and George Papanicolaou, whose research led to the early detection of cancer of the cervix. This resulted in the Pap test. In 1940, Strang was the first medical facility to introduce it into clinical practice.

Cancer: A Food-Borne Illness, a documentary by Grace Price
I know this isn’t the typical stuff I post on here, but a friend of mine sent me this documentary this morning and it really did struck me. This is a topic I was already familiar with, but seeing more evidence being shared it’s always fascinating and incredibly heartbreaking at the same time. I’m no doctor by any means, but throughout my life I had the opportunity to partake in similar projects which really changed the way I perceive health as a concept. It all had to end when I asked the WWF ambassador why they were sponsoring a label that in reality ensures neither the quality of the food nor the protection of the environment. They did don’t like that, let’s put this way.
I think this is an important watch, especially if you are from the USA,
where processed food couldn’t flourish more than ever. I love food and I love health, but companies and their greed for money don’t. Sadly, it’s up to you to mind your wellbeing.
It’s a short watch: 23 minutes, way less than what the majority of people spent on social media every day, me included.
WATCH HERE (it’s free on Twitter)

"A recent study published in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition has revealed a robust association between carrot consumption and reduced cancer risk; the authors recommend encouraging carrot consumption and further investigation of the causal mechanisms in randomized clinical trials. A meta-analysis of 80 prospective cohort studies showed that carrot intake lowers cancer risk by 10%-20%. Findings apply across a wide range of exposure types, geographical regions, and cancer types. "Carrot intake across 50 prospective cohorts with 52,000 cancer cases revealed a relative risk reduction of 10% (relative risk, 0.90) compared to controls," reported Charles C Ojobor, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and colleagues reported." source: https://medicaldialogues.in/amp/diet-nutrition/news/carrot-intake-reduces-cancer-risk-by-10-to-20-per-cent-meta-analysis-reveals-122108?

I now know three people I see daily who have to have biopsies done for cervical and ovarian cancers.
Please just go get your yearly. Please don’t put it off. If you have a strange symptom or even if it is just a discomfort of sorts, please go and get it checked out.
A half hour at max appointment seems better than potential suffering and death.

Cervical cancer
Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. It is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide and  can affect women of all ages. However, it is most often diagnosed in women between  35 and years of age.
 Causes of cervical cancer:
The main cause of cervical cancer is infection with  human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted virus. There are more than 100 different types of HPV, and some types can cause cervical cancer. Other factors that can increase the risk of  cervical cancer include smoking,  a weakened immune system,  a family history of cervical cancer, and  multiple sexual partners.
 Symptoms of cervical cancer:
Cervical cancer does not necessarily cause symptoms in its early stages. As the cancer progresses, symptoms may include abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain or discomfort, pain during intercourse, and unusual vaginal discharge. It is important to note that these symptoms can be caused by other diseases, so it is important to consult a doctor to get a proper diagnosis.
Prevention and early detection of cervical cancer:
The most effective way to prevent cervical cancer is  the HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine protects against the types of HPV that cause most cases of cervical cancer, as well as against other types of HPV that can cause other types of cancer. The vaccine is recommended for  males and females between  9 and 26 years of age.
Regular cervical cancer screening is also important for early detection. A Pap test is a test that checks for abnormal cells on the cervix. It is recommended that women start regular Pap tests from the age of 21. In addition, the new  HPV test can also detect the presence of the virus that causes cervical cancer. Women should discuss with their healthcare provider which exams are right for them.
 Treatment of cervical cancer:
Treatment of cervical cancer depends on the stage of the cancer and other factors such as the woman's age and general health. Treatment options may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these treatments.
In summary, cervical cancer is a common female cancer  that can be prevented by vaccination and detected early by regular screening. Women should consult with their health care provider to determine  appropriate screening and vaccination. If cervical cancer is diagnosed, early treatment can lead to a better outcome.

Returning after 5 years to make art!
im having a prophylactic mastectomy this week!
Reasons for this include: elevated breast cancer risk, gender, sensory problems.
Feelings leading up to surgery are complicated but mostly positive.
The only time I really loved having boobs was when I was breast feeding my child. Aside from that they have mostly been a nuisance.
I am nonbinary, and while I haven't experienced the level of chest dysphoria that some people do, I keep thinking, what would it be like, if my body was for me, instead of other people's benefit or expectations.
So instead of trying to really feel my feelings, I try to process them by drawing.
