So, I’m sure everyone remembers their favorite Justice League Unlimited episode, “The Greatest Story Never Told.” You know, the one that put Booster Gold on the map for a mainstream audience in the 2000s.

So the main issue of that episode was a dude with a black hole in his chest.

This is a Wally West’s Flash character apparently.

I probably read this in “Flash: Rogues” in my middle school library at a similar period of time when the episode aired.

It’s fascinating seeing where some of this stuff comes from. Why would I ever expect a one off episode designed to give Booster Gold a little love would be getting its material from The Flash.

And what material it is. I haven’t had a chance to read Chunk’s origin story yet.

But uh, let’s talk about that name huh?

Gods, the layers are fascinating.

A big black fat guy who literally has an all consuming black hole inside him. And his name, Chester P. Runk, portmanteaus into a classic fat person nickname in “Ch’unk.”

I dunno man, it’s just weird. A little uncomfortable. I imagine it’s a lot worse in his origin comic but here in this story he’s treated with dignity and respect. Same is even true in Impulse, one of Impulse’s classmates who is also a fat black kid actually looks up to Chunk. And, fair, Chunk is a brilliant scientist and successful businessman once the whole singularity thing got controlled.

It’s just a lot of things that just make you tilt your head and go “hmmmm.”

The Flash (2014 - 2023) series ran for 184 episodes and 9 seasons. The series finale aired on May 24, 2023. The episode ran into production problems when Grant Gustin (The Flash/Barry Allen) was diagnosed with Covid. The finale saw the Flash having to try to save his timeline as he was up against the Negative Speed Force represented by Cobalt Blue (Rick Cosnett), Reverse Flash (Tom Cavanagh), Zoom (Teddy Sears), Savitar (Tobin Bell), and Godspeed (Karan Oberoi). Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicoket) took on the moniker Virtue and a new costume. Nora was born after the world was saved. I'm sorry but Chester P Runk's reason for being a pacifist is fucking hilarious.

He was 10 years old, saw Marvin the Martian's ray gun and wanted to make one himself.

When demonstrating it, it malfunctioned and burned his friend's house down and he vowed never to make weapons again.

My brother in Christ, that's a reason never to try homemade inventions again you moron! You nearly accidentally open a black hole in your first appearance in the show. The fact it was a weapon has nothing to do with it, your cringefail invention done blowed up, that could have happened with a super toaster or anything else. Way to learn the wrong lesson my dude.

As I was saying earlier….

The closest thing I have gotten to an actual Central City was mostly centered around Portland, Oregon where the show was shot or in Kansas City, Missouri where it seems like it was indicated in the comics (feel free to correct me here). I went online on websites for the occupations of both Iris and Barry’s jobs along with some of their friends and family as well. We don’t know how much revenue Fake Wells (Eobard Thawne) has made off the real Wells life so it would be a safe bet that he is some multi-millionaire.

No, I will not be including Chuck or Allegra’s salaries into this because something in my suspicions is saying that Barry wouldn’t make them help out with the cost, especially with them being recently new members of Team Flash. Another thing, he would also let Cisco transfer out of paying once he started working for ARGUS. Also, I am not going to include Ronnie, Frost, or Blaine in this.

Now this is out of the way we can start looking at how much they would’ve made yearly and averagely. We are going to be starting Oregon, Missouri, then other parties.

The Flash used to be a superhero TV show I loved watching for a good fun time because it's one of the brightest (mood-wise) superhero shows out there. However, season 7 just felt off. I am not saying I hated it, I just didn't love it as much as I should have.

So many of the villain-of-the-episode was...like why were they featured in an episode when it felt so half-assed? I might like the villain-of-the-episode concept but I rather have an entire season focused on dealing with a big bad than those one time villains being shown without much effort. And honestly, who was the big bad in this season? The speed force or August Heart? I'm just saying, if the writers cannot do a big bad for the season, why not just write up better plots for all the villain-of-the-episode? It's obvious the writers made the show so complicated by trying to one-up each epic final battle that they don't know how to one-up anymore.

Also, I know the show is called The Flash but do we really need to focus on the speed force all the time? Don't even get me started on Iris being part of the speed force now. I never liked Iris and I hate how she always thinks they can talk a villain out of committing villainous acts, but I much preferred her as a journalist than whatever role she is now... Seriously though, does that woman think because she talked Mirror Eva out of conquering their world, she can talk other villains out? I would love to see her try that bullshit in Arrow's world or Gotham's villains. I apologise for the Iris slander, I just cannot stand her.

What I would've liked was more focus on the others. Like what Frost went through with the charges? This woman does not get enough credit for saving Barry as much as people like his wife or Allegra did. I also really hated that Cecile's storyline of her time in a mental institution and then that whole Psycho Pirate subplot was brushed over in a blink of an eye. Unlike many superheroes in the Arrowverse world, Barry does not succeed alone most of the time. Yet, the rest of Team Flash is always so heavily slept on. I mean, don't talk about the OGs or the metas, Chester is constantly under appreciated. What I'm trying to say is, stop focusing on Iris and give me the rest. Please!

Hello, my name is Hartley Rathaway. I have to say, I’m quite surprised anyone’s here. Well, since you are, and since you asked, here’s my irritating life story so far.

I grew up rich, influential, and spoiled. My parents, Osgood and Rachel Rathaway, are terrible people, so set in their ways they’d kick their own son out for being gay. Which they did. Not huge fans of boykissers, I have to say. Anyway, I hate them, and all they stand for. They run Rathaway Industries, which I tried to take down a while ago, but the Flash stopped me.

After I was kicked into the streets like trash, my life, my chance at success, and my reputation as a scientist shoved into the dirt, I clawed my way back up. I met Dr. Harrison Wells, or who I believed him to be. At the time, my personal idol. He became my mentor, my teacher. I was his favorite, and I was used to being teacher’s favorites. I was a prodigy. I am a genius.

I built my life back up. Scrounged what money I had to rent in a shitty apartment complex, just until I climbed the ranks. Which I did. I upgraded and bought myself a studio, a space big enough for me to live and work. Work was my life, not just a passion or my job. I had no time to be nice to anyone.

Together, we made the particle accelerator. I was so proud of my work. Really. That is…until I discovered that Dr. Wells was going to turn it on, even thought it wasn’t ready yet. I told him it was dangerous, I tried to warn him. But that bastard fired me. Took my rebuilt life that I had just gained from me. He silenced me.

After the accelerator exploded, I gained clarity for the first time in a long time. I became a metahuman, like so many others in Central City. I could now sream at pitches only dogs could hear, and manipulate sound waves to my will. And I’ll admit, I abused this power for a while. Used it to try and get revenge on those I believed had wronged me, that owed me pain and suffering. Wells, Flash…Cisco.

But I also found love. I fell for a tall handsome man, and it was wonderful. We sacrificed our lives for each other, and we both got hurt, but we were there for each other. Roderick.

Unfortunately, we ended up going our separate ways. After all the trauma we’d both experienced, and the years we lost together after the accident, the differences became too great. But I’ll always be forever grateful to Team Flash for saving his life. Now I work with them, I fight alongside them. As Pied Piper. Caitlin says I’m healing, but what does she know, she’s a sap. Although, I might be…finding love again.

Through thick and thin, I’d choose them again. After everything I’ve been through, I couldn’t ask for better friends, who treat me like a real person, and not a freak. Either way, I, Hartley Rathaway, of sound mind and body, am for sure the smartest one on the team.
