Gotta say, The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes really does have some great animation. Meet Captain America was especially ambitious in what it did with silhouettes. Shout out to the animation team
It's so absurd that copyright has been extended long beyond the life of the author because there's literally no reason but corporate greed.
The bug argument I've heard is that creators deserve to profit from their work, or failing that their next of kin.
Which is lovely in theory, maybe with a 10-15 year copyright term or a 5 year term that can be renewed voluntarily by the author.
In practice, creators like Ciro Nieli are sitting on the finales for their cancelled series and don't even have the rights to use/release them. It's insane that the Walt Disney corporation owns the intellectual properties of the people it employs. Ciro Nieli should be allowed to release a SRMTHFG comic to wrap up the series.
I found out why TMNT 2012 did female characters so dirty. Ciro Nieli (the producer) stated how boys were cooler and more interesting to write in action shows. He claimed that girl characters were harder and were always made “too powerful”. He said this when Karai and April were the only main female characters and he said how they “maxed out of girl characters for the show”. By this he doesn’t respect the autonomy of female characters and fails to acknowledge how complex they can be.
makes sense. hopefully the guy has learned and changed given that he’s now sorta in charge of transformers earthspark
i went to a meet n greet to see ciro nieli and the absolute funniest shit happened. most of the people getting stuff signed were there for tmnt and stuff but the srmthfg fans were limited to me and this one other guy. he asked ciro “do you think the monkey team cast would do a reunion panel or something like that?” so ciro started listing off everyone who would probably return (which was the whole main cast btw). the guy asks “do you think you could get corey feldman back?”
to which ciro responds “of course he’d come back, no one’s fucking hiring corey.”
