just like with machine learning, we can and should demystify “the cloud” without demonizing it in the process. cloud computing and cloud storage architecture are extremely useful tools; it’s how they get deployed by big tech companies that can be a problem.

kinda funny how most programmers would prefer to not have to touch apple products with a ten-foot pole but if you talk to basically any designer over like 25 they'll swear up and down and backwards to friday that nothing could ever hold a candle to any apple product

#part of this is probably tied into the adobe suite/creative cloud being made mostly just for apple. for some reason.#so it doesn't work as well on windows and the app versions for android are pitiable #idek if you can use it on linux at all #i'm a designer btw but I'm definitely in the programmer camp #smh adobe get your freaking ACT TOGETHER I DON'T EVEN LIKE PHOTOSHOP BUT I'D SURE LIKE IT A LOT MORE IF IT WORKED ON MY COMPUTER #you're telling me I can render 3D modeling in maya just fine but I can't use the blur tool in photoshop without it crashing????#what kind of sick joke.....#apple v windows v linux #computer os #computers #programming #designers #adobe creative cloud

Writing a fic for an exchange and I got 500 words done last night that I was really happy with, and then when I tried to look at it later on my phone the file just would not load at all. It existed, I could click on it, and then... blank. Entirely blank. Nothing. And then I couldn't check my laptop until this evening to see if my 500 words still existed somewhere or had been eaten by Dabble.

Anyway it's fine - 500 words still, Dabble just hadn't synced it for some reason! But good lord that was a nervewracking moment.

I'd like to personally wrap a wreath of rusted forks around the neck first idiot who decided to complain about a lack of realism in game visuals, and strangle him in front of his family.

The visuals never hold up long enough to be worth it either, they're always uncanny valley in 5 years at the latest, and they put so much pressure on rigs and consoles it's ridiculous.

Solid, COMPETENT art direction is always more important than proximity to life.

"Oh, great, another game falls prey to Yellow Paint Syndrome" well, gee, my guy, maybe if we didn't demand hyper-photorealism in every game regardless of context, modern platformers might be able to develop a visual language that doesn't require painting a sign on every single interactable feature to render it distinguishable from the clutter.

From what I've read this only applies to files saved to the cloud/saved online, not files saved locally. Which still sucks, but most users will not be affected by this at all (unless you guys all use the cloud?).

But let this be another reminder not to save your stuff on some third-party corporation's cloud if you care about the privacy and safety of your files.

#if you do b2b you should get your own cloud server #it's the only way to ensure you (or your business partner) stay in control of your files #if you're not a business ... why do use the cloud?#genuine question #'save to cloud' is the first setting i turn off in any programme #i know businesses like to use google/microsoft/whatever online storage bc it's convenient and cheaper than making their own thing #but it makes my skin crawl #do you know how many of my clients' use microsoft sharepoint #and i access all their files (that are under NDA's) with the same work e-mail + work microsoft password combination 🫠#this is the opposite of safe #adobe bullshit #plus #uuuuh #while i'm sure 'combatting cp' is merely a pretence #not wanting illegal content on their servers that they might be held liable for #is actually reasonable #so yeah #this doesn't seem any worse than other shit adobe has pulled

5. The Capitol was completed, and the Governors opened it to the public for the second time.

6. The Domauj Boundary and Suvasaserl Cloud regions were discovered.

7. We allied with the Prometheus Collective.

8. A wikipage was made for Selbur XI, the Abandoned capital (finally)

9. noomintroll began construction of the Habitation Programme Alpha, a community housing project on Ifortc Tau designed to help any new travellers in UFIPA space find their feet.
