Glitched Out // Oneshot

Synopsis: Step into the Cyberworld, with Mr. Karimoto, leader and chief of The Bureau of Cybernetics. And take a look at the origins of Agent 806, as she unlocks her powers for the first time.

The creation of a new digital being is something that happens on an hourly schedule for Motherboard aka MOBO. MOBO uses The Genesis to program and test the optics of quick enhancements, installations, and the creation of new Cybernoids that work within cyberspace.

Today was a special day for Mr. Karimoto, the chief of The Bureau of Cybernetics, an organization that fights viruses, and data monsters, and monitors MOBO keeping her intact to operate. He was preparing to meet his new batch of rookies, ready to be trained and sent out into cyberspace.

Mr. Karimoto: Looks like all 7 of my recruits are working fine and intact. Are the diagnostic tests complete MOBO?

MOBO: Yes, Mr. Karimoto. The Genesis program has finished with testing, vitals are clear and ability enhancements are stable.

Mr. Karimoto: Excellent, they should be good to send out and start their training. After last week's mission, this will be good news for everyone at the bureau.

MOBO: Yes, and I heard about what happened. I’m sorry that the mission went so array. Losing half of a team on a field mission to The Dark Sea must be horrifying.

Mr. Karimoto: It is, and it becomes harder and harder each day. The cyber world is becoming increasingly dangerous, which leads to the average virtual user becoming more and more at risk of encountering threats; viruses, data monsters, and hackers each day. The job and risk of becoming a Cybernetic come with great power, compassion, and responsibility. I hope these recruits are ready for their lifetime of missions.

MOBO: Don’t be so hard on them Kari, I understand your hands are tied, especially running an entire organization by yourself. Not to mention other agencies working with hackers and breachers in contracts to support their own and increasing their broadband across cyberspace is becoming a problem that I’m constantly fighting against. But I still take the time out of my many features to create and restore new aids to help my closest companions like you, and Lady in Pink.

Mr. Karimoto: Augh, don’t even mention her name. She’s always trying to outdo me and my corporation, and yet does nothing to stop these hackers and breachers or destroy viruses. All she does is add to the problem.

MOBO: You know I can’t be biased when I run everything and see everything. She’s done a lot of wrongs, yes, but she’s also corrected the mistakes in her programming.

Mr. Karimoto: Hmm... We’ll see about that.

The incubation chambers open, and clouds of smoke and pixels dispersed onto the ground. An empty void of obsolescence, with an echo that traveled a mile.

Mr. Karimoto and MOBO await on the other side of the chambers. Out comes two, then three, then six. Each rookie wore a white and grey bodysuit with a small metal plating on the left side of their chests. The platings have a number with a letter on them. The rookies looked at each other with curiosity and childlike wonder, all of them equal in similar heights, but with slight physical differences. Men with bulkier builds and women with more curvy builds.

MOBO: Welcome to the world my Cybernoids. I’m your creator, Motherboard. But you can call me, MOBO. This is Mr. Karimoto, the chief of Cybernetics, the place you all will be working to keep cyberspace safe.

Mr. Karimoto: Nice to meet you all, let’s get started.

Mr. Karimoto: Greetings everyone, please tell me all

of your names and your agent number.

Agent 109: Hi, I’m Taimin, Agent 109.

Agent 275: I’m Zuke, Agent 275.

Agent 600: I’m Echi, Agent 600.

Agent 451: Hey, I’m Kamari. Agent 451, is ready for fun.

Agent 130: My name is Aiko, Agent 130. Please make your acquaintance.

Agent 131: Hi, I’m Nini, Agent 131. Happy to be of service.

Agents 130 and 131 both look at each other in excitement and glee.

Agent 130: Wait your are a number ahead of mine.. do you know what that means—

Agent 131: We must be—

Agent 130 & 131 both gasp and say in synchronicity: WE’RE AGENT SISTERS… YAYYY!!!!

Mr. Karimoto: Alright alright, settle down everyone I’m glad you all are beginning to get used to each other.

Agent 600: Wait, Mr. Karimoto, we forgot one.

Mr. Karimoto backs up and glances at the last agent getting out of her chamber. The last agent had unique magenta hair that spiked out, she stood front and center, a cute

Mr. Karimoto: Hello there, state your name and your agent number.

Kasumii: I’m Kasumii, Agent 806. Ready to serve you.

She bowed in his presence. He could sense something about her that was different from her. Her frame rate and pixels were a lot more heightened and clearer than the others, her demeanor was a lot more serious, powerful, and attentive.

Mr. Karimoto: Hmm, nice to meet you Agent 806. Now let’s begin the tour of the facility.

Everyone jumps onto an elevator that takes them down to the ground level of the Genesis. They then walk onto a telewarp that teleports them to a new location. They warped

Mr. Karimoto: This is the Bureau of Cybernetics Tower, the central hub to all things software and malware and the defense unit for all viruses and cyber crimes committed in the cyber world.

Mr. Karimoto: This is where you all will be learning to hone your abilities, train, and energize yourselves before going out on new missions.

Agent 109: Wow, the tower looks amazing!!

Agent 451: I know right it looks SOOOO COOL!!!

Agent 131: I hope we won’t be wearing these same suits the entire time

Agent 130: Right, these suits are so unbecoming of a future cyber crime fighter

Kasumii, crossed her arms and mumbles: Oh, digitoids *as she rolled her eyes*

Mr. Karimoto: Yes, you will be getting new uniforms aligning with which faction you work under.

Mr. Karimoto: Now let me show you to your training quarters

Just as everyone began heading off into the tower, Kasumii strayed behind looking at everything in idle curiosity. Excited and happy for her newfound career and life’s purpose. Suddenly she hears a static hiss a few perimeters away from her, hiding behind a digital bush was a virus.

The virus hissed and pounced at Kasumii, pinning her against the wall. It looked at her in a menacing glare preparing to hypnotize her and corrupt her form. Then, Mr. Karimoto came, he got out his virus Destabilizer and shocked the virus. The virus was angry and went after him.

Kasumii trying to catch her breath gets up and goes after the virus. The battle between the virus and Mr. Karimoto was fierce. Mr. Karimoto whips out his tech gloves and visors, he puts them on and they glow a green trimming along the edges, he activates his glove and manifests a large data sword. He uses the sword, slashing and dashing the virus. He then cuts the virus into two halves of itself. Both viruses now combating Mr. Karimoto. Kasumii tailing behind them calls out to one of the viruses “Hey!” and throws a digital orb at it. The virus grew furious and dashed after Kasumii.

The others watched as the fight went on, security guards came out of the tower to begin to de-escalate the fight.

Head of Security: MOVE MOVE!!

The trainees looked as the action went on.

Agent 600: Shouldn’t we go out there and help?

Agent 130: Meh, they can handle it. Besides I’m saving my energy for later.

The fight continues. Mr. Karimoto strikes another puncture to the virus and weakens it. The virus moaned in pain, but before it disintegrated, it spits out a sticky substance that stuck onto Mr. Karimoto’s feet and legs. It began to harden and Mr. Karimoto screamed in pain “AURGHH”. The virus disintegrated. The other virus went toe to toe with Kasumii, dogging all of her combat moves, it turned around and saw 7 security personnel rushing to the battle, it spits out the sticky substance, now shaped into seven small orbs that punctured all of the security guards. Each of them now turned into small digital specs. The virus absorbed their pixels and grew larger and larger. The virus went after the trainees and attacked all six of them. Nothing but pixels, the virus absorbs them, and grows larger than before, towering over Kasumii.

Kasumii: No…

The virus levitated towards her, trying to escape, Kasumii ran as fast as she could. The virus trailed behind her, it spits out a sticky substance onto the ground that stuck onto Kasumii. She fell to the ground trying to escape, now encapsulated by the dark sticky substance, she could only move one hand and her head. The virus hovered over her, glaring her down. It began to absorb her data.

Mr. Karimoto screamed: No, Kasumii!!!!

Suddenly, Kasumii’s form began to project a holographic version of herself. Her eyes changed color, and her body glitched. The entire vicinity around her now turns vibrant colors of green, red, yellow, and purple in a glitched-out frame rate. Her powers grew and her holographic form fused back into her body. She broke free from the substance. With one punch, she destabilized the virus, and it began to glitch out. The virus spazzed and exploded into a million pixels all around. Each of the trainees and guards now fully restored to their previous forms, cheered in amazement and glee to be free.

Mr. Karimoto now free from his sticky situation walked towards Kasumii and in awe, he just looked at her glowing form. Kasumii quickly depowers and almost faints. She turns around and looks at Mr. Karimoto, standing a few feet away from her.

Kasumii: I— I’m sorry Mr. Karimoto, I don’t know what happened. Please don’t send me to Genesis to be rebooted. I won’t—

He put his hand on her shoulder, consoling her, looking at her in an endearing embrace. He smiled and said—

Mr. Karimoto: Welcome to the team Kasumii.

Kasumii smiled, and her once-body suit transformed into a new black and white business suit. Nicely fitted, and stretchy, and a belt with many pockets for her new tools and utilities. She looked and saw a small badge now on her chest that says.

“Kasumii, Agent 806. Department of Virus Defense”
