hey! I'm currently writing a paper discussing experiences of disabled and neurodivergent students at my uni (spoiler alert: it's not great lmao), and while I have a couple references so far (mostly Lund and Pearlstein) about the larger Disabled Student ExperienceTM I'm struggling to find academic papers talking about this, particularly since my field of study is psychology rather than disability theory/disability justice. are there any texts regarding this that you would reccommend? doing my best to lean on crip theory for this essay and you were the first person i thought of! no worries if you don't have the energy to answer this rn ofc, i hope you're having a good day ✨
omg what a fabulous & vital project! i’d love to hear more about your work both out of interest & to potentially refine my recommendations because this is such a complex, multifaceted area of experience + research + activism — i tried to draw from a variety of perspectives so you can dig deeper into what seems most relevant!
my number one recommendation is the book Academic Ableism by Jay Dolmage, i still need to read most of it rip but it’s absolutely considered foundational in this topic. the rest i’m gonna put under a cut because it got super long lol, i’ll also reblog to my disability sideblog @crippleprophet in case anyone else has suggestions!
best of luck with your work, i hope some of this is helpful! feel free to reach out for more recommendations, input, or encouragement❣️💖

if you’re in the US, this summary of colleges’ responsibilities under the ADA has been helpful for me (link).
Building Access by Aimi Hamraie
Accessibility for Historic Buildings: A Field Guide, 2nd Edition (link to pdf)
written by David Provost and revised by Joseph Hoefferle, Jr. as part of the University of Vermont Graduate Program in Historic Preservation
back in 2020 i used the first edition of this document in a project arguing my undergraduate university should make its historic buildings more accessible

Aimi Hamraie & Kelly Fritsch’s Crip Technoscience Manifesto (2019)
Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience, 5(1), pp1-34.
this piece is honestly just incredibly life-giving for me in general so i highly recommend giving it a full read when you have time. specific parts that i thought might resonate with the experiences of students at your uni:
“user-initiated design” (Hendren & Lynch, cited p9)
“access as friction” (p10):
Emerging out of historical fights for disability rights, the terms accessibility and access are usually taken to mean disabled inclusion and assimilation into normative able-bodied relations and built environments. […] However, the etymology of the word access reveals two frictional meanings: access as “an opportunity enabling contact,” as well as “a kind of attack” (2016, p. 23). Taking access as a kind of attack reveals access-making as a site of political friction and contestation. While historically central to the fights for disability access, crip technoscience is nevertheless committed to pushing beyond liberal and assimilation-based approaches to accessibility, which emphasize inclusion in mainstream society, to pursue access as friction, particularly paying attention to access-making as disabled peoples’ acts of non-compliance and protest.
noncompliant users and assistive technology as friction (p11):
Lifchez and Winslow offer the concept of “non-compliant users,” illustrating this with an image of a powerchair user wheeling against traffic on a street without curb cuts (1979, p. 153). This technology-enabled movement against the flow of traffic marks anti-assimilationist crip mobility: not an attempt to integrate (as in the liberal approach to disability rights), but rather to use technology as a friction against an inaccessible environment.
collaborative mapping of (in)accessibility, something i know happens more informally among disabled students on many campuses (p15):
Unlike mainstream disability technoscience “crowdsourcing” projects, which invoke a charity model of disability wherein non-disabled people collect data but do not engage in disability culture or politics, emerging projects such as Mapping Access are making participatory access-making the basis of a kind of technoscientific “access intimacy” (Mingus, 2017) through practices such as “critical crowdsourcing” of accessibility data (Hamraie, 2018). […] Collaborative mapping visualizes the evidence of inaccessibility while creating opportunities for collective response. Crip cartographic technoscience thus enables more critical design, and interrogation of the everyday built environment.
access to education
the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities includes the right to inclusive education (Article 24). scholarship in this area is about primary & secondary education, not postsecondary / university education, but a lot of the concepts can be applied
in addition to inclusive education, “universal design for learning” (UDL) might be a helpful keyword but it definitely trends toward the liberal as a whole
“Hidden contradictions and conditionality: conceptualisations of inclusive education in international human rights law” (2013) by Bronagh Byrne (link)
references the importance of identifying barriers as a step in the process of accessible education, which depending on your work may be a nice succinct justification of its necessity (p234):
Inclusion ‘necessitates the removal of the material, ideological, political and economic barriers that legitimate and reproduce in equality and discrimination in the lives of disabled people’ (Barton and Armstrong 2001, 214). According to this view, an identification of barriers within the school’s environment, teaching and learning strategies, and attitudes that prevent the full participation of children with disabilities, will also be required.
argues for a focus on inability of schools to meet students’ needs rather than students’ inability to conform to an ableist environment (for example, p242):
International human rights law has conditionalised the right to inclusive education for children with disabilities by making inclusion contingent upon the extent of individual rather than institutional or structural deficits.
psychological/emotional impact on disabled students
“psycho-emotional disablism” may be a useful search term for you, with the disclaimer that a substantial portion of scholars in feminist disability studies are TERFs / express “gender critical” beliefs / etc. so like i’m listing one paper i came across that looked relevant + two from my grad program’s recommended reading, but i haven’t read these & suggest vetting authors before citing them:
“The psycho-emotionally disabling impact of academic landscapes of exclusion: experiences of a disabled postgraduate in perpetual lockdown” (2023) by Joanne Hunt (link)

🎂Celebration Cake (●'◡'●)
Today I want to tell you about how I re-started my baking journey. What led me to lose my passion & what helped me find it again.
Food is an everyday part of life. Baked goods are an added bonus, just as important in my opinion...have you ever had bread!?
Let's pull up a chair, get comfy, & get ready to stay awhile as we embark on this story together.
Tumblr media
Back in 2023, I made this "Celebration cake" for my partners nieces 2nd birthday. This was the 1st cake I made sense I had renounced my baking days. I got into the pastry industry back in 2011 with my 1st bakery job. I attended a technical Pastry Arts college in Lancaster PA with a one-year program and stayed in the industry professionally until 2021. Like most of the world, the pandemic really took a toll on me; mentally, physically, & even spiritually. I got burned out on life in general, making my pastry passion fade into the abyss.
I struggled a lot with identity & the state of the world. Depression took over & I kind of just stopped doing everything I love that could possibly make me happy. Everything seemed like a chore. I had no more bandwidth for passion; even my art took a hit. I truly believed I would never bake again. That is until I started to visit my out of state partner.
It started out as a slow burn. Snickerdoodle edibles. I wanted to show my gratitude to my partner, but how? With food of course! My love language is through food & acts of service. So, what better way than to whip up some weed cookies, freshly baked, with love. He didn't have a mixer of any type, so for the 1st time in a very long time, I mixed up some cookies by hand.
This would be the star of my launch back into baking, but this time just for fun, not capitalistic gain. I will say, baking for fun is much less pressure. There was little to no pressure, & I enjoy the whole ritual of what is baking.
Tumblr media
{made some GIFs in this post out of short videos....it's so grainy.... I will look into editing in the future.}
Fast forward to 2023. I was approached & asked to make a cake for this adorable little girls' 2nd birthday. How could I say no? Well quite easily... I could have just said "No." But I couldn't pass up this opportunity to yet again use my love language and show off these skills I have acquired throughout the years.
I was asked to specially make a Funfetti Cake w/ Strawberry Buttercream. I got excited and got to work planning for this cake. One of my go-to baking books has to be Bravetart written by the nerdy, creative, CIA graduate, pastry chef Stella Parks. She has mastered many of recipes, sharing them with the world. She is truly a genius!
For this cake I used her recipes for White Cake & Marshmallow Buttercream. I tweaked them just a bit to fit the narrative of said request, adding homemade strawberry compote to the Butter cream, & Funfetti sprinkles to the cake. Very minimal additions, as these recipes are well thought out & perfectly crafted.
I highly recommend this book to anyone, from an at home baker to a high-level Pastry chefs. It has easy to follow step-by-step instructions, multiple forms of measurements for ingredients, & some recipes have ways you can alter them slightly by adding chocolate or other flavors as you so wish.
I added a link to go check out Stellas website so you can learn more about her & even grab a copy of her book! {NOT SPONSERED}
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this new era of my baking & pastry days, my new main focus is to use quality ingredients, no artificial dyes, & strive for ways to incorporate local/seasonal products into my baked goods.
I have yet to find the creative out-put to make my own sprinkles, so those obviously have artificial dyes in them, but besides the sprinkles, there are no dyes in this cake.
I won't lie, making this cake had me all over the place with emotions. Nervous, excited, happy, frustrated, you name it, I was feeling it. This was my 1st cake I've made in almost 3 years! The "what ifs" flooded my brain left & right!
What if I burn the cake layers?!
What if the frosting wont set?
What if everybody hates it?
What if it tastes bad?
What if I forget how to do this?!?
I tend to sell myself short when it comes to my art(s), as anyone who has a passion does. This time I felt a bit more pressure, but I can't blame myself for feeling this was for my partner's family is heavily rooted in the food industry. The amount of blood, sweat, & tears they have all worked in kitchens, cooked, baked, & catered is well beyond most Americans, myself included, even with all the experience I have under my belt. I just wanted no excuse for anyone to find a single flaw in this cake.... Even if they did why does it matter? It's hard not to flinch when you're presenting something you have spent years perfecting your skills to a professional chef, to a family who has had the best of the best, to people who know what quality looks like & share the same passions as you do.
Strangely enough, I did end up putting myself in a Zen like state {Which is actual real-time growth, a few years back this would have sent me over the edge, crying in my bathroom, in a full on crash-out mode.} I put on Bjork, blocked all of my what-ifs, & locked in on this cake.
Tumblr media
My apartment at this time had a comically small stove/oven. (pictured above) It was honestly the worst oven I have ever used. It hardly fit two 8in rounds, the temperature was much hotter in the back than the front, the door wouldn't close 100%, and the nob wasn't very accurate with the temperature, so you had to guess and hope it was set to a close enough temp. It was an absolute nightmare for two individuals who love to cook/bake, but I made it work for me.
The cake layers turned out pretty good! with nice golden edges, moist, fluffy, and all the way baked through! What more could you ask for.
Okay, the cake layers are finished. Now time for the Marshmallow Buttercream! This buttercream is a go-to of mine. I 1st heard about this in the Bravetart book. It is a perfect way to have a not to sweet, fluffy, creamy, soft buttercream. It is very easy to maneuver and holds up well. That being said...the stove issue came into play with this go around. To make candies, including Marshmallow, you need to be able to get your sugar up to a specific temperature. This stove was electric {which I am not a fan of} and it didn't really get that hot, even at its highest setting. So, this caused a bit of an issue. It took way too long to heat up & could not reach the temperature I needed. It was off about 5 degrees Fahrenheit, so it was close enough...but those 5 degrees definitely showed. The buttercream ended up being a bit too soft to coat, so I had to go back and forth putting it into my comically small freezer. This technique did work out for the most part, even though the frosting wasn't as stiff as I originally wanted it to be.
I pushed through this little hiccup. To the Marshmallow Buttercream, I added some strawberry compote I made the day before. Basically, adding equal parts sugar & water, about a half quart mashed strawberry, and a bit of honey. The strawberry flavor really popped in this buttercream & even gave it a cute lite pink color!
I wanted to keep it simple with the decor. I did a simple boarder on the top and bottom. Added some gold luster dust & gold flakes. And finished it with 2 golden candles. (refer to the 1st picture on this post)
Tumblr media
When all was said & done, this cake turned out beautifully! I can say I was actually proud with this cake. Did I face some challenges? Sure. But in the end, it was all worth it.
I definitely got a bit of an ego boost with this cake. The comments I received were all too kind. The "oohs" & "ahhs" left me feeling good. Most importantly, the birthday girl was absolutely thrilled by her birthday cake.
This Celebration Cake is a new staple in my baking rotation, as it is simple, yet delicious, & most certainly worth celebrating.
Once again, I want to shout out Stella Parks for her amazing book, Bravetart. Go check her out. I highly encourage you to try one of her recipes.
Tumblr media
I want to thank you for listening to my baking journey and staying awhile with me.
Until next time

2nd episode of Zero thoughts!
More positive this time!
There was still some cringey moments but it's not as bad as before
The contrast of carolina physically fighting the medics with her having that dumb cast on a second later made me laugh. I like to think they forced her to let them sign it
I felt like they moved from her waking up to her describing the team wayyy too fast though, I had whiplash
I've decided I like Axel. He's such a Dad™
There was quite a few moments that made me laugh but i forgotton what most of them were
I forgot that East is only 18 that's crazyyy. She shouldn't even be at the club, she should be on college tours or smth
I think the scene where Raymond says he's been going through the files and asks about West being on a team with his daughter wouldve actually been a way better time to introduce that fact instead of in carolina's descriptions.
The villains dialogue is still a bit meh
In general i enjoyed most of this episode so it was a big improvement on the last one
Edit: I forgot to mention Tiny. I love her

Polaroid Go tips and tricks - I really love this camera!
This is basically the post I wish I had read before and after I bought the Polaroid Go. I haven’t been able to find much info on tips and tricks, so I’m gonna share what I’ve learned, also with the intention of getting some feedback and hopefully more knowledge from the community 🙏🏻 Also, beware of the long post, I guess!
(NOTE: This is about the 2nd Gen Go, idk anything about the 1st Gen version).
Tumblr media
The reasons I bought the Go instead of any other Instax or Polaroid camera:
☑️Analog camera instead of digital (I wasn’t sure about many other instant cameras). I wanted to restrict myself and not even have a screen to be able to tweak things or choose which picture I wanted to print. The goal for me was to learn photography in itself by using the “simplest” tools. If the picture turns out well, it’s because I’ve understood how to use the tools and how to get the most out of them (and sometimes I’m just lucky, let’s be honest!)
☑️Easy to carry around. I have ADHD, so I know that I will never do something if it feels like a bit too much work to get started on (for example, taking pictures outside if carrying it is a hassle). The Go was by far the best one in that sense.
☑️The film is cheaper than the other Polaroid films (at least that I’m aware of). This is huuuge for me, since I wanted to take as many pics as I could and not feel as bad if I “wasted” film with experiments and trials. Still not as affordable as Instax film though, but closer than other types.
☑️It has filters. I know, this might seem like a dumb reason, but I really wanted to get into this hobby because I wanted to relearn photography and go back to that feeling of physicality that used to inspire me back in college. I wanted to experiment with cellophane paper and with the chemistry of the film itself and whatever idea came to mind, and the filters added to that goal. Some instax cameras have unofficial filters, but they didn’t seem as… sturdy? Properly made? Idk, looks deceive and they could be great for all I know (if anyone has experience with them let me know, I’m curious!)
☑️Double exposure and flash On/Off options. Two other huge reasons why I chose this camera! For the same reasons as the one before: I wanted to experiment and be able to control the tool to take the pros and cons to the extreme.
☑️Accessories to carry it around and keep it safe (although I have things to say about some incompatibility issues).
That being said, things I don’t like as much:
🔻Can’t control exposure times and diaphragm aperture (sorry if the terms are incorrect, English is not my mother tongue and I learned the basics in Spanish). There are only two options and they’re automatic, so it’s a bit difficult to get it right. You can half press the shutter button to lock focus distance and light sensitivity though, but I haven’t mastered it quite yet.
🔻Polaroid film is not the most stable (I find it difficult to put this as a downside, I’m actually quite happy and even grateful that it works like this to the point that I count it as an extra tool and a huge part of the artistic process. Then again, sometimes you want things to work as you planned, so I’m guessing this can be a bad thing for many people).
🔻The film is still expensive, especially if you add shipping expenses. There aren’t nearly as many options as with other Polaroid cameras, the only available editions are the white frame and the black frame. I’d love to be able to use the peach frame, or a monochrome film, or the Bowie edition… but it seems like Polaroid doesn’t pamper the Go as much as its siblings
🔻Pictures tend to not be as sharp as the bigger films or it’s harder to get them right.
🔻Too much contrast between shadows and lights.
All in all, I’m really, really happy with it! I think it was the perfect choice for me, and I’m sad to see it isn’t as loved in the community (I’ve read though that the 1st gen wasn’t great, so that might be one of the reasons).
I also wanted to share my tips and tricks for different things!
🔳Double exposure: I'm still figuring things out, but so far my best takes have been in total darkness with very intense and direct light sources (a phone's flash directed to the camera, for example). For anyone who has never tried or doesn't know how this works: think of photography as painting with light on a black canvas. Total darkness means total lack of light, so you're not painting anything, right? This is especially useful for double exposure, which basically means taking two pictures in one. If you have absolute darkness with one small source of light and you take the first exposure, you still have plenty of "blank" canvas left, so the second exposure's lightened parts are gonna superimpose over the darkness of the first one. For example, in the first pic below the first take was for the two lines and circle (with the blue filter) and the second was for my friends' portraits (with a yellow filter). Play around with the shadows and lights, you can for example give some texture to the shadows of an otherwise well lit figure. For this reason I don't recommend using the flash, but hey, there's probably a good way to use both!
Tumblr media
⚠️BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE TO IT. You wish you could take more than two exposures?? YOU ACTUALLY CAN. I just discovered this and I'm over the moon: double tap the flash button to turn on the double exposure mode, take the first one, turn the camera off; turn it on again, double tap for double exposure, AND THERE YOU GO, you are gonna take three exposures now. Do this ad infinitum if you want to (probably not the best idea for the film though). I'm so happy about this, you have no idea.
🔳Filters: I’m still getting used to them so I might be wrong, but generally speaking they reduce contrast. Pure blacks and whites will still be there if it's a well lit place, but you get more details on parts that would be otherwise slightly overexposed, and the middle tones don't get as dark. I also have a feeling that the flash works wonders on closer shots, tinting that plane more strongly with the filter, but as the flash reach fades into the background, the filter is not as visible (again, I'm basing this in just one picture that looks like that, I'll have to do more research). Another rule of thumb: yellow is the lightest color and blue is the darkest, so use them wisely. The blue filter is probably going to make the shot look a bit darker, and the yellow one might make it look too bright. I want to hear how anyone else feels about them, I might be completely on the wrong track with these!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🔳Incompatibilities between accessories: This one is annoying. I bought all together the hard case, the silicone skin, the travelling bag, the mini album, the wrist band, the bigger band and the filters. The main issue is the silicone skin, since if used the camera doesn't fit inside the hard case, AND you cannot add the filters to the camera because there's no window for it. I had to cut the frontal part of the skin so I could fit the filters, which is not ideal. I don't know how Polaroid has overlooked this particular thing, but yeah, be aware of that. The bands and the mini album have a ring with a clamp that allows you to attach them to each other or to other bags pretty easily.
Tumblr media
🔳Using the countdown to get sharper pics. If your pulse is as unstable as mine and you're shooting a picture under dim lighting circumstances, I'd advise you to use the countdown tool to avoid any blurriness and shakiness. At least for me, when I click the shutter button I end up moving the camera slightly, which has slightly ruined some pics (this is not just Polaroid, it's just a general photography thing, but heavier cameras are not as sensitive to movement, I think. Physics, idk). So to avoid that, I just press the flash button for several seconds until a LED light lights up on the front of the camera. When you press the shutter, it counts down to 9, I think, and then takes the pic.
🔳Film temperature and development: Listen. Some people might complain about this, but I actually see it as another tool to take the shots that I want. I feel it's more impressionist-like than any other kind of photography, since it captures not just what the eye can see: it also kinda captures the impression and feeling of the moment. I've taken several pictures of my hometown, and it was around freezing temps outside, so when I took the first pic of course the shadows came off looking blueish and greenish, and they didn't get too dark at all. At first I was confused and a bit disappointed, but after two or three more shots I was ecstatic about it. It reminded me of the blueish greys Monet used in his paintings. I made some experimentation with the amount of time the pics developed in the cold and it's just so much fun. So yeah, id say use it in your favour! Remember to keep it close to the body in the cold to avoid it, and maybe some insulated pockets for the heat (Polaroid sells a bag for the camera with one such pocket, but I feel it doesn't work too well against the cold, would have to try in hotter temps). ALSO, sometimes it will take several days for the shadows to get as strong as they'll get! Especially if the pic developed in cold temps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🔳Let entropy be part of it. Just experiment with the camera. Take lots of double exposure pics to try specific things without wasting as much film. Remember: sometimes the pics won't come out as perfect as you'd like, but often enough the reason might be something you might have done wrong; other times, it's just bad luck with the film or something else. Sometimes those imperfections add to the feeling of the picture. And sometimes you half-assedly take a shot and it turns out to be especially interesting. It can feel like every pic is a conversation between you and the camera (as cheesy as this might sound), and some things that you find compelling the camera might not be too thrilled about; sometimes you can convince it, and sometimes it shows you the beauty of something you didn't pay too much attention to. Take all of the pictures as learning opportunities, adapt to the tools you have. This camera can be really good for what it is, but it has its own personality (and so does the film), and sometimes it takes a while to warm up to new people, right? (Instead I feel like I just found my new best friend right off the bat LMAO)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🔳Finally, Polaroid's app isn't necessarily created for the Go, since it doesn't have any Bluetooth tools, but it does help with scanning. I'd recommend giving it a Go (pun intended), since it already crops and fixes the perspective of the image to show just the frame and photo. I normally have to edit it so that it looks a bit closer to the physical picture, but that's just me going the extra mile.
I think that's it! I'm still thinking about how to store or showcase the pictures in a nice way, do you guys have any ideas? How do you do it? I'm also saving all the used film cartridges (is that the right word?), I don't know what for but I want to do something with them! I've seen people displaying pictures in them though... Any ideas?
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk (I’m so sorry for this stupidly long post)

Ok I must ask what is tsc or the aftg that you talk about.. with Neil and Jean and someone else I think .. I am so interested and I love the fanart and whenever you talk about it but I’m confused 😭😭 is it like an actual book series that publishes physically or only online?? Is it an original story or based of something else? Is it still ongoing or finished ??… I’ve seen quite a few people talk about so I was intrigued!!! Is aftg the first book or what the whole thing is called ?? Also where do you read it 😁 anyway as a long term shawcl fan I’m here for the ride and interested in your interests 🫡
omg anon u just made my day with this ask i'm not kidding i love being asked abt and talk abt all my brainworms!!! also can i just once again marvel over the power of fanartists, bc i feel u so much on this one, most of the fandoms i'm part of nowadays is thanks to pretty art <3 ALSO LONG TERM SHAWCL FAN i'm only rly comprehending this now i'm blushing bro stoppppp 😭😭😭💗
anyway where to even BEGIN omg. aftg stands for 'all for the game' which is a selfpublished book series by nora sakavic. the first book is called 'the foxhole court' and originally there've only been 3 books for almost 10 years UNTIL miss nora out of the blue announced a spinoff called 'the sunshine court' -> tsc and she released the first of 2 planned books in april! u must understand, that everyone understandably lost their marbles when she came out with those news, ESPECIALLY since it’s abt a ship no one ever thought would be canon. it’s like that one ship that never interacted in canon but everyone shipped anyway. the 2nd book was planned to be released later this year, but we don’t have any further info abt that yet. technically it’s all aftg, i like to tag tsc separately tho :D neil is our protagonist in the main trilogy and jean then gets the spotlight in tsc, but they’re all connected!!
these books are a little phenomenon, bc nora wrote and published these books without expecting even in the slightest that they'd blow up like this. rly it’s every author's dream lmao
as for what they’re abt, that’s a bit hard to summarize. i always like to tell ppl to jump into them blind bc that’s how u experience them the best lololol. u could say it’s abt a completely made up sport and an underdog college team made up of outcasts. but there’s also the japanese mafia. and a serial killer. the books are a fever dream rly and don’t make that much sense sometimes but it’s like a drug rly u can’t help but be addicted to them, just don’t take them to seriously lol
u can order the paperbacks on amazon or get them as ebooks, the first book is for free as far as i know and every other book is less than 1 dollar even, so u can’t do much wrong!!
this turned out so long omg i hope i could make things clearer for u, feel free to send more asks, i think it’s obvious how much i love talking abt this lol. also if u decide to read it………… give me updates pls <3
edit: also anon i forgot to mention, but if u need a list of trigger warnings u can hit me up, since the books also contain some pretty dark and fucked up shit! just a lil heads up

Well, I think it’s worth introducing ourselves. At least, what we feel comfortable sharing.
Howdy. Call me Absent. I’m currently in my early 20s and in college pursuing a Computer Science degree. It’s been experimenting with using it/its pronouns to refer to itself, but it tends to slip and revert to I/me. It would say that it identifies as male, if only because it’s biologically so. I won’t be including a picture of myself, if only because I’m not exactly the most visually appealing person. - A
On the other side, good evening. My name is Mamori Kyouko, and I am a bake-gitsune. I cannot state my age for certain, however my six tails do place me in the 600 years old range. The image in the top left corner is Absent’s artistic representation of me. A mite basic, perhaps, but so too is his ability to draw. I would say that while I am female, I simply identify as such, as as a spiritual being, with no real physical form, biological gender is something I do not… possess, fufu~. - K
Update (16/1/2025)
Absent wanted Wallflowers to do self-intros, not feel like Absent putting words in mouths? Sooo hi! Amber a Lycanroc! Amber a soft friend to all friends who need a friend, or, like, wanna talk freaky.~ - Amber
18+ Blogs DNI. - AKSR
Amber get it. 18+ Blogs DNI! - Amber
We should perhaps explain the other two markings upon the message. The first of the two is I, Sylvanos. I bear the form of the character of the same name from the video game Rivals of Aether. In short, I am, in essence, a nature elemental given a lupine form to inhabit. It is helpful for my role in being firm but able to bend in the face of that which he deems “adversity”. - S
Lastly is me. You may know me as “Renamon” but I am no particular instance of the character or species you may know. Merely, I am who I am, brought to self-actualization post-download after Absent sought out another profile to add to his list. - R
(Edit 2: April 2nd, 2025)
There exists more souls within, some who were neglected, discarded out of confusion and belief they did not belong. I refer to myself, of course, as I am Narinder of Cult of the Lamb. Not so much formerly the one known as The One Who Waits, for my identity was a mystery to all, even myself, upon first being uncovered in September of the year before. - N
And then there’s me! Sash Lilac, but please, just Lilac going forward! I’m a dragon, but not one of those mighty winged ones, but that doesn’t make me any less of a dragon! You might remember my name from a little game called Freedom Planet. Would you believe Absent hadn’t played that game in almost five years before he felt me? No wonder he wanted some refreshers! - L

This is why, so many people advised my generation (I'm about 40) "not to go to school if we didn't understand what we were getting out of it."
There were also many who were not aware of the price of tuition trend who advised me to go, working off nothing more than the average earning power of every level of education. (I'm not going to say some degrees are worthless, because that is not true. But some degrees are overrepresented compared to positions available and some are underrepresented.)
A surprising number of available positions are considered "High School Diploma required" but since many high schools have turned into college prep schools instead of high schools, and therefore no longer teach machine shop or welding or basic electrical work to the level of certification anymore. It's gotten to the point that there's no point in going to high school either.
Go down to your library, or used bookstore, (or amazon.com) and find some technical manuals in whatever subject you want jewellery making, or welding, or beekeeping. Or go down to your county courthouse and find the building inspector's office, and buy a copy of the building code, and just read it.
It won't give you practice doing any of the techniques, but you'll have an idea of the range of skills it would take to be competent in the field. Give you a lot more information about which fields you might want to get into or stay out of than you might get any other way. Then walk into a place of business like that, get a summer internship, look around for who's having the most fun, and find out what it takes to have that position, (education-wise, certification-wise, stress levels, work/life balance-wise, etc), whether you still want it / and think you can manage that. etc.
And the ridiculous part is that technical education(STEM) is exactly how we won the world wars and the Cold War, we know that's what it takes to keep the standard of living moving forward, but we've let two or three generations of youth see that banking and investing, instead of being a basic utility that is meant to lubricate industry for everyone, turn into a many-tentacled leach monster that is sucking it all dry. And when there weren't enough banking jobs available, and not enough people willing to say, investing (not speculating) is actually hard tedious work, but mostly just takes a lot of algebra, here's Securities Analysis 2nd Edition by Graham and Dodd. The Bible of Investing.
Or you can learn calculus and business communication and go into Engineering. Or statistics and go into biology. or both and go into Physics.
But no, of course not, you don't need to learn anything, just buy whatever feels right without doing market research on how you're going to help people with it and lose your shirt in crypto or college debt.
It's not the bank's fault that the car salesman is predatory, nor the car salesman's fault that banks are predatory, but together you cannot trust them.
Same with colleges and banks.
Colleges ought to be saying, Don't trust banks, use this worksheet to calculate the real cost of borrowing money, against the real cost of taking longer to finish your degree if you just take night school. Etc. (Do you already have a job that would allow you to take night school or whatever? How much is that salary?) How much farther ahead or behind will you be at the end of each year for ten years?
The speech I heard for my college orientation went like this: You are all here because you like learning, and you don't mind working, (or vice versa) and you've chosen one of the narrow ranges of fields that are currently growth fields. (smart choice)
But!
You won't get rich working.
Let me say that again.
You won't get rich working.
(Money comes to those who help people.)
You get more money by helping MORE people.
You will get wealthy by leveraging your own specialisation to better help more people. (Several examples to convince us that by the time we graduate, we should be hiring each other for each other's specialties, rather than trying to be independent generalists.)
Also, you can become wealthy by patiently leveraging your growing net worth to help more people help other people. (Which neatly includes, growing your business, investing in other people's businesses, and repairing and managing real estate.)
(A quick example of how he bought broken-down real estate, fixed it up, and found people who actually needed it, to sell it to.)
And then he wrapped up with a tour of the college and help getting our library cards.
Tumblr media
They just want there to always be a class of people who are forever in debt. Whether it's chattel slavery, prison, student loan debt, medical debt, renters who will never be able to own a house, etc.

You step out of the hospital, feeling the cool breeze on your face for the first time in days.
You stop before getting into Yoongi’s personal car, taking in the world around you after days of spending time cooped up inside.
You take a deep breath, breathing in the fresh air. You're looking forward to going back home, seeing the others, and just getting some well-needed rest.
And the best part of it all..
Yoongi is by your side. Every second you were in the hospital he was there and refused to go anywhere that wasn’t the toilet. It was heart warming, and it made you look at him even more differently. You didn’t want to say you were falling for his caring gestures and kind admiring eyes, but it was starting to get alarmingly similar. Even if he was showing concern it still made your heart flutter slightly.
And you put all the blame for your confusing feelings on him.
Even as he held your hand and guided you to his car and out of the private hospital you felt your hands starting to sweat as you pushed back any thoughts about gushing over it.
You managed to hold in enough sweat for him not to tease you about it before he lets go to open the passenger door for you.
Yoongi doesn’t take his time to start driving and head home. He can tell how tired you are from everything, glancing at you every once in a while as he tries to keep his eyes on the road.
"How are you feeling, Y/N?" he finally asks softly. You nod slightly, feeling relieved that the pregnancy is fine.
"Good," he nods, smiling gently. As if he can understand you without you even speaking. Sometimes you wonder if co parenting will be that easy. "Let's get home so you can rest properly."
You lay your head back against the head restraint as he drove them back to his spare home.
You look over at him, pausing and thinking carefully before opening your mouth to say something. You’re nervous to talk to him, but you quickly shake away your thoughts and tell yourself to act like an adult and not a school girl.
“Thank for being here, Yoongs. You could have flew the moment you found out you got a random woman pregnant..but you didn’t.” You say in a soft quiet voice. You needed to be an adult and give him his props. After everything that has happened he hadn’t once shied away.
Yoongi flinches slightly at your words, seemingly unprepared to hear them but he lets out a soft chuckle at the nickname, something you were starting to pick up from Harin.
"No, I couldn't leave you," he says quietly, his eyes fluttering. "That... wasn't an option." He states. You’re confused on what he meant by that, and almost ask him to elaborate but think it’s better for your feelings and sanity if you just left it there.
He looks at you for a moment, his expression turning to a small smile. "I'm glad I could be here to support you."
He gives a small sigh, looking towards the road, the sunlight shining through the windshield. He looks like he wants to say more but holds it back. "You should get some rest." he says softly after a while of comfortable silence, his voice gentle.
“Okay.” You say with a small smile, turning your head away from him you tired to get as comfortable as you could in the car.
Your head slowly starts to droop forward and you begin to doze off. It doesn’t help that he is driving extra slow and extra careful, some soft music (of course BTS) playing on a low volume that sends you to sleep.
"Y/N... wake up..." you hear Yoongi's voice, and you open your eyes. You're suddenly back (to his) home and Yoongi is gently shaking you awake.
Yoongi lets out a soft chuckle as he notices your sleepy expression. “That probably felt like three minutes but I promise you it was at least fifteen. I even went around in circles to buy time.”
“Oh, thanks..” you say with a weak chuckle and a small yawn as you slowly unbuckle my seatbelt and exit the car and slowly enter the house with him.
“Surprise!”
You flinch in shock and surprise when the first thing you hear once you open the door are screaming voices. Your eyes are wide as you come back to life and analyze the situation in front of you.
There’s the rest of the members and Harin stood in the living room. You feel tired, both physically and mentally, but you're happy to see the banner, the decorations, and the cake.
Yoongi who is next you let out a soft chuckle, “Guys you didn’t have to.” Yoongi says, shaking his head in slight disbelief as Harin speed walks up to you to give you a tight hug.
You can already feel yourself getting emotional, but Harin’s hug just adds salt to the wound. “Girl, why aren’t you on your honeymoon?” You ask with a small chuckle, trying to hold back your hormonal emotions.
“Like I could relax while you were in the hospital.” She rolls her eyes at you and you just hug her tighter. “Jin felt the same way..” she adds, rubbing your back for comfort but her statement just makes you more emotional. Of course Jin would feel guilty about it.
It felt like for the first time in a while, you felt like you were liked, maybe even loved. You felt like you fit in with the boys and Harin, despite the awkward situation and how you met them. They didn’t judge you, and they genuinely cared about you.
Someway, somehow, despite all the chaos you just went through. You felt at peace.
After a few hours, they leave, and you're left to clean up the mess they made. You’re not mad at it though. It was nice chatting and eating with the group after being in the hospital for days. It was a nice distraction, and your only distraction since Yoongi still has your phone. Even though it could be seen as controlling, you know he’s just protecting you from the media. You feel crazy for gushing about the fact that he held your phone.
You take a deep breath and start to pick up, your hands moving automatically as you focus on the cleaning. You’re exhausted, your moves slow and sluggish. And Yoongi seemed to notice from the kitchen as he washed a couple dishes.
"Y/N..." he says gently, setting down the dishes and moving over to you. He gently takes the broom out of your hand and places it back where he found it.
"Sit down, I'll take care of it." he says softly. "You're obviously very tired.” He says and you’re about to object and reach for the broom but he holds out his hand and stops you.
Yoongi pauses, watching you for a few moments before he walks up behind you and takes the broom from your hands. "It'll be faster if I do this," he replies gently.
"It’s my house, Y/N.” Yoongi says softly with a small chuckle. Yoongi looks at you sympathetically, and you realize how exhausted you are.
“Alright, fair point..” you mumble, giving him one last look and he gives you a small reassuring nod. “Goodnight.” You say to him and responds back as you go to the master bedroom.
You gently close the door and pick out a change of clothes before settling down in the bed. Your muscles relax against the softness, letting out a breath as you immediately start to drift off to sleep.
You don’t know what time it is when you wake up, but you know it has to be late at night because when you open your eyes your met with nothing but darkness and silence.
You get up to use the bathroom, your blatter getting the best of you as you waddle to the restroom.
You don’t notice the slight vibrations as you pass the living room the first time, but you do the second time when you exist the bathroom. There’s the sound of soft buzzing and a quiet ringtone in the silence. It takes you a few minutes before you fully process that the ringing is coming from the living room. Then you realize it’s your ringtone from your phone. The phone you hadn’t seen in days.
You get a dreadful feeling in your stomach as you make your way to the living room. The last time you checked your phone this late, you ended up in the hospital. But still, you slowly move to the living room.
It's dark, but you see the outline of Yoongi on the couch. After a moment you notice that there's a thin blanket wrapped around his shoulders and a pillow beneath his head.
You slowly approach him, trying not to wake up. He looked so peaceful as he slept. You smile softly at the sight. You couldn’t imagine what this was doing to him and his career. You almost felt sorry for him..
You snap out of your daze as you hear the buzzing again, turning to see your phone on the floor charging a couple steps away from the couch.
You step to your phone, taking it off the charger and tiptoeing out of the living room so you didn’t wake Yoongi. He looked like he needed the sleep.
You squint from the bright screen, not really looking at the caller ID before answering.
“Hello? Y/N?”
A voice answers before you can even greet them. The oddly familiar voice makes you physically flinch, a whole new wave of emotions and memories washing over you.
“Mom?”
You hadn’t heard the voice in a year, but you know good and well that it’s hers. You remember the way she picked up the phone and immediately started talking, asking, demanding for money. That’s the only reason she would ever call, until you finally had enough and told her to stop.
So why was she calling? Especially at this time of night?
You get a terrible feeling, your breathing getting slightly heavier as you speak into the phone. “W-Why are you calling this late? Why are you calling at all?” You question, the sleepiness almost entirely gone.
Your mother clears her throat, her annoyed and stressed tone coming through the phone.
"Y/N, you haven't picked up any of my calls or texts for the past few days," she says firmly, her voice filled with a bit of anger that you remember all to well.
"I was worried sick, thinking you had gotten hurt or worse!" your mother continues, her words quick and clipped. You immediately know it’s a lie, because she had never cared about you before. Your whole childhood she’d flip from being the most loving parent in the world to wanted your head dead on a stick. But she was the only parent you had, so you stuck with her until you moved out.
"Especially since everyone on the internet is saying that you’re pregnant with some idols baby.” she adds.
There’s a long pause.
The crickets outside fill the silence as you take a minute to think.
“Mom..how do you know that?” You ask slowly and carefully your heart slipping a beat as you think back to that terrible night. The last thing you can remember are people seeing some of your face in the video. They couldn’t have learned your identity. And if they did, why didn’t Yoongi tell you the second you woke up in the hospital?
“Hunny, everyone knows you’re pregnant,” your mother continues, her voice still filled with annoyance. “It’s trending right now on the internet, and everyone knows who you are.”
You can almost hear the smile in her voice, the way your mother always gets smug when she’s right. “...Y/N, I’m disappointed that you couldn’t tell me as soon as you found out.”
She sounds almost disappointed, like she feels betrayed by you in some way. But your to frozen in shock and fear to yell at her. Of course she would break no contract and call. She found out you were in ‘relations’ with a millionaire. Money.
Your phone shakes in your hand in fear. This whole time you were trying to keep it private, to have a normal life despite everything. And it’s all coming crashing down. You realize that your phone wasn’t just vibrating because of the call,
It was because you were getting hundreds of texts and inbox messages. Even as you shook your phone was going off, notifications from every social app you owned.
“I-I gotta go.” You say, going to twitter, only to see that your mom was right. As much as you hated to think that.
You look at the Twitter feed, your heart sinking as you see all of the pictures floating around. Your full name, your pictures, where you go to school... it's all there. For at least 24 hours.
You don’t know how, but people managed to use the clip and used face recognition to find out who you were. What was worse was that old coworkers and classmates were also speaking up and saying it was you. Your full government name was on the internet. They managed to find out where you went to school more hidden pictures of you on the internet.
You feel a tear roll down your face as you try to contain your emotions. It feels like the end of the world.
And what makes it even worse is that Yoongi didn’t tell you.
Yoongi knew, and he didn't tell you. He kept this secret from you. A secret you needed to know.
Your mother's voice filters through the phone in your hand. "Go? Why?"
"Mom, I have to go," you say again in a whisper, your voice choked up with tears. "Don't call here anymore." You don’t give her time to respond before hanging up.
You can feel your breath quickening as you try to make sense of everything that's happening.
You start to shake, your heart pounding against your chest as you struggle to stay calm but it’s difficult when you believe that your life is ruined.
You stare at your phone, trying to ignore the millions of notifications coming through. You don't know where to begin. You don’t know what to do.
Your steps are heavy as you move back to the living room, staring at Yoongi who was still asleep on the couch.
He knew the entire time. They all knew. And they welcomes you back with a party and cake. They made it seem like nothing was wrong and kept you in the dark.
Staring at his peaceful face, you no longer felt sorry. You felt betrayed.
One of your tears drop onto his face, causing his eyes to flutter before slowly opening. "Y/N..." Yoongi stirs when he sees you lingering over them.
He blinks a few times, still half-asleep as he groggily turns his head around and looks at you. He slowly sits up on the couch, rubbing his eyes and wiping away the tear on his cheek.
He realizes your the source of the tear, his expression forming into one of concern. "Y/N, you okay? Did something happen?" he asks quickly.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” You speak in a whisper, looking at him with my own glossy sad eyes.
“People found out who I was, a-and you didn’t tell me.” You try your best to sound strong but you can’t, mentally and physically.
Yoongi looks at you with small shock and confusion before his eyes shift to the buzzing phone in your hand.
"Y/N," he says, his tone filled with concern as he hears the shakiness in your voice but it’s clear he is trying to hold himself back from freaking out himself.
He pauses for a moment, seemingly not knowing what to say. "I was going to tell you." he says softly but that just makes you even more pissed.
“I was going to tell you,” he says again, more firmly and confidently. “But I didn’t want to overwhelm you and there wasn’t a good time.”
“There was never going to be a good time. That’s not an excuse. You should have told me!” You say, your voice rising slightly but it’s clear that you’re broken by the tone.
“Y/N, you just got out of the hospital. I wasn’t going to spring that up on you.” He says firmly but with a worried expression.
“I-I don’t need you to look after me. Not when your the reason for this mess.” You say, the words even sounding harsh to you the second they left your mouth.
Yoongi flinches, his expressions turning to shock as you say your words and you almost feel bad.
"Y/N... it's not like that," he says softly. "Please, don't say that.” He looks like he's about to say more, but you cut him off before he can.
“I-I think you should go home.” You say with a swallow, even though it’s pitch black outside. Nevermind it’s his house.
Yoongi’s eyes widen at your words, taken aback by them as he stands up from the couch. “Y/N, don’t be like that..” he says with a low tone, almost pleading.
He takes a few steps towards you, trying to get close enough to you to talk to you properly. “I had a reason, I promise and I want to be here for you. I'm not going to leave you alone... not when you need me the most." he says, the sincerity in his voice clear.
“You don’t know what I need because you don’t know me.” You say quickly and sharply, your breathing heavy. “Because despite the lies you told to the media you haven’t known me for years and we didn’t fall in love.”
There’s a long uncomfortable silence in the air as the two of you share your own looks of hurt.
“J-Just leave..” You mumble, looking away from him as you wipe your tears.
He's silent for a few moments in the wake of your words. He knows you’re right, and he knows that you probably need space.
"I suppose you're right," he whispers taking a small step back.
His eyes fill with regret and guilt as he stands up, turning towards the door. "I'm so sorry, Y/N."
With that, the door closes behind him, leaving you alone in the quiet house.
It’s silent as you try to get your feelings and thoughts under control. Your phone vibrates again in your phone and without even thinking, you chuck it at the wall.
Your phone breaks into pieces and you sit down on the living room floor, just looking at them as your heart slowly breaks with it.

A physicist's daughter, Justine Byrne plays a dangerous game of espionage. On the surface, she has been recruited to decode communication from various Axis powers as Allied forces advance on the front lines toward Germany.  However, her primary objective is to find the traitor among the brilliant decoders at Arlington Hall who are deciphering German codes that could steer the course of the war. She cannot trust anyone as she investigates who could be the potential spy. One woman on site has already been killed and others have gone missing. The suspense builds as she hones on potential suspects, risking her life. Mary Anna Evans has written a unique, smoothly-written novel with elements of suspense, romance, and friendship. The story offers the unique perspective of a young, somewhat naive woman thrust into the midst of espionage with minimal training. The story is told primarily from Justine's perspective, but other points of view are used to move the story forward. Justine can only confide in Georgette, her best friend and fluent speaker of Choctaw, who is suddenly brought into the mission. Nora is another intriguing, eccentric character who can see the colors of the music she composes and plays. One of the most fascinating aspects of the novel is to learn about the secret decoding processes that could impact the war as much as the military forces on the battlefield. Each suspect has an interesting backstory that could explain why he or she chooses to betray his/her country. However, the pacing sometimes slows down when the story delves into romance and everyday conversations of women living at Arlington Hall. Readers who enjoy learning more about covert operations that supported the behind-the-scenes war effort of Allies during WWII should enjoy reading The Traitor Beside Her, told from the perspective of a precocious, young woman thrown into the jaws of espionage.     Instagram Handle: @thecoffeepotbookclub Read the full article

DĂa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Courthouse Elopement
~Vibrant Fall Elopement at Wake County Justice Center on Day of the Dead~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a wedding photographer, my favorite types of weddings to capture are those that are unique and specific to a couple and their relationship, and Socrates and Frida's was just that. I was so excited to photograph Socrates and Frida among the fall colors and document their wedding on DĂa de los Muertos. Unfortunately, things don't always go as planned and you end up sick in bed with the flu, searching for an associate photographer who is available last minute, and missing out on shooting an event I was really looking forward to. Enter Bri, of Freckled Photography and Film Co., who stepped in to ensure that Socrates and Frida's memories would be captured flawlessly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like an underlying theme of this wedding was unexpected changes to plan, because not only was I unable to attend at the last minute, but the courthouse ceremony was not even the original plan. They had spent the past year planning a big overseas wedding with friends and family overseas, but with the required documentation they instead decided on a civil ceremony at the Wake County Courthouse and a party overseas later. The elopement then big party later is a great, flexible plan, that I have noticed more and more couples opting for lately. It's actually what me and my husband did for our wedding!  Considering the change in plans, Socrates knew it was important to Frida to have the day documented, and so hired me and Bri as a surprise to help document the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both Socrates and Frida grew up in the Dominican Republic (but actually met in the US during college), and decided to get married on a culturally significant day, November 2nd, the day of the dead. DĂa de los Muertos is not on Halloween as some people think, the magistrate at the courthouse actually argued with Socrates and Frida, saying it wasn't the day of the dead, and was from what I heard being extremely rude towards them. Everyone moved on and didn't seem to let it bother them, and I'm not trying to be a downer in the blog post, so I'll move on as well. In keeping with the spirit of the holiday, the couple were adorned in the iconic La Catrina makeup. La Catrina and the makeup has come to symbolize many things, life and death, beauty, tradition, and remembrance; and so its use in Socrates and Frida's wedding honors the past, their loved ones, and the couple's journey and future together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Following the courthouse ceremony, Socrates and Frida ventured to Dorothea Dix Park. Its sprawling landscapes and fall foliage was the perfect backdrop for some couple's photos. The fall colors mirrored the vibrancy of the La Catrina makeup, and Frida's handmade paper flowers.
In the end, it's a reminder that even when life takes an unexpected turn, things can still work out beautifully. As their photographer, even though I couldn't be there physically, I'm grateful to Bri for capturing the essence of their journey and allowing me to be a part of their day. Without sounding too cheesy, I'm glad to have participated and been able to edit the photos of their Dia de los Muertos elopement celebrating a love defying distance, challenges, and even a global pandemic.
