Autistic adulting is knowing the difference between when you should struggle really hard to understand something, and when it’s okay to just not get it.  If a post on my dash makes my brain go “wHat eVEn doEs tHis Say o_O”, then I just skip it.

If my boss says something and I have that reaction, I know it’s worth it to spend the time and energy asking 800 clarifying questions to try to figure out what she’s talking about.

For example I just had this conversation with my mom today: 

Mom: “Can you clean the cat litter?”

Me: “Sure.”

Mom (as I heard her): “Just use the bag, and half the bag with the other bag, and bag with bag a bag bag.”

Me: “Sure Mom, I’ll clean the cat litter.”

I know that it’s okay to not understand what she said, because I already know how to clean the litter, I’ve been doing it for years, and so whatever directions she was giving me weren’t that important, and I’m not going to spend mental energy on trying to figure it out.  I just cleaned it like I always do, and everything was fine.

Luca, Timmy and Michael are traitors. They turned their back on Armie when he needed them the most. I will never watch a movie one of them makes. And everybody who still supports them, is against Armie. I hope Armie will get his revenge and expose them as the greedy opportunists they are. He is better off without them, he doesn't need friends like them. With that interview yesterday, they showed their true colours. They will abandon a friend in need without a second thought. It breaks my heart thinking how lonely and betrayed Armie must feel now.

I think some perspective is in order.

The main sentiment you seem to be railing against was a supposition by the writer of the article, Mike Fleming, jr. to push a specific narrative, and it wasn’t an interview, it was a report on Luca’s latest projects, with a pull quote from Luca that indicated that a CMBYN sequel is still something he is interested in, but other projects have taken priority.

The inflammatory headline written by Fleming or someone else at Deadline is not what’s in Luca’s heart. Or in Timmy’s. Or in Michael’s. Or what was even in the article itself.

Unless you know these people personally, you can’t possibly know how they, or anyone else for that matter, feel about anything, not especially from one article written on a definite slant by an entertainment news reporter.

Learning languages by reading + Freebie

Hello dear language lovers! This month we have something very special for you. We created short stories in German and Spanish for you to practice your reading comprehension skills in these languages. We hope these stories help you understand better how the language works and maybe learn some new words. Before you get your hands all over these PDFs we would love to give you some advice on how to make the most out of these pages.

1. Read out loud:

Reading out loud will help you get confident in speaking the language. If you are not sure how a word is pronounced, don’t worry. We will be reading out loud a bit of our stories every Friday of July on instagram. Starting today! So, go to @therealpolyglot to get the audio that goes along with these stories. You can also read out loud and share it with the hashtag #therealpolyglot, we’ll be glad to check your pronunciation and help you.

2. Make sentences with the words you don’t know:

There’s a vocab list that comes along with the stories, anyway a good way to remember them is by making sentences with these words so you can get a better understanding of the language. You can send it to one of your language partners or teacher for correction, and feel free to contact us if you have any doubt.

3. Gives us your opinion:

Let us know your thoughts on the stories! Share your opinion in Spanish or German so you make the most out of your learning experience. As always you can share them via our social media. Hemos creado unas historias cortas en alemán y español para que puedas practicar tu comprensión lectora en estos idiomas. Esperamos que estas historias te ayuden a entender mejor cómo funcionan estos idiomas y que aprendas vocabulario. Pero antes de que pongas tus manos en los pdf nos encantaría darte algunos consejos sobre cómo sacarle el mayor provecho a estas páginas.

1. Leer en voz alta:

Esto puede ser de gran ayuda para agarrar confianza en el idioma. Si no estas seguro/a de cómo se pronuncian estas palabras, no te preocupes. Estaremos leyendo en voz alta nuestras historias cada viernes de julio en Instagram. ¡Empezando hoy! Así que ve a @therealpolyglot para que escuches el audio de estas historias. También puedes leerlo en voz alta y compartirlo en las redes sociales con el hashtag #therealpolyglot, estaremos encantadas de ayudarte con tu pronunciación.

2. Crea oraciones con las palabras que no conoces:

Wir haben Kurzgeschichten in Deutsch und Spanisch für dich erstellt, damit du deine Fähigkeiten im Leseverstehen trainieren kannst. Wir hoffen, dass diese Geschichten dir ein besseres Verständnis darüber geben, wie die Sprache funktioniert und, dass du vielleicht einige neue Wörter lernst. Bevor du dich auf die PDFs stürzt, würden wir dir gerne einige Ratschläge geben, wie du das Meiste aus den Texten holen kannst.

1. Lese es laut vor:

Lautes Vorlesen wird dir dabei helfen, selbstsicherer zu werden, wenn du die Sprache sprichst. Wenn du dir nicht sicher bist, wie ein Wort ausgesprochen wird, mach dir keine Sorgen. Wir werden jeden Freitag ein Teil der Geschichte laut vorlesen auf Instagram. Wir beginnen damit schon heute! Also, besuche @therealpolyglot und erhalte die passende Audio für diese Kurzgeschichten. Es gibt eine passende Vokabelliste zu den Geschichten, trotzdem hilft es dabei, sich die Wörter zu merken, wenn du Sätze mit ihnen bildest. Damit kannst ein besseres Verständnis der Sprache erhalten. Du kannst die Sätze an deinen Sprachpartner oder an deinen Lehrer schicken, um eine Korrektur zu erhalten. Und fühle dich frei uns jederzeit zu kontaktieren, wenn du eine Frage hast.

3. Teile deine Meinung mit uns:

Lass uns wissen, was du über die Geschichten denkst! Teile deine Meinung in Spanisch oder Deutsch, damit du das Meiste aus deiner Lernerfahrung rausholen kannst.
