Cooking Tools for Kitchen: Must-Haves for Everyday Cooking
Tumblr media
Cooking isn’t just about following recipes — it’s about creating something nourishing and delicious with the right technique and tools. And let’s face it, the right tools can completely change your kitchen experience. From saving time to enhancing safety, having the right cooking tools makes your kitchen more efficient and your meals more enjoyable.
So, if you are setting up a new kitchen or thinking of upgrading, let’s explore the essential cooking tools for kitchen setups that every home cook should own.
Why Do Cooking Tools Matter So Much?
Imagine trying to paint without the proper brushes — it’s the same with cooking. The better your tools, the smoother your process becomes.
Here’s what the right kitchen tools help with:
Time-saving: Efficient tools cut down your prep time.
Better results: Consistent textures and cooking depend on the right equipment.
Safety: Using appropriate tools reduces chances of burns, cuts, or accidents.
Comfort: Ergonomic tools make cooking less tiring and more enjoyable.
10 Must-Have Cooking Tools for Kitchen
These are the basic tools every kitchen should have to handle daily cooking with ease:
1. Sharp Knives
A chef’s knife is your go-to for most chopping tasks. Add a small paring knife and a serrated knife for flexibility.
2. Chopping Boards
Use separate boards for veggies and raw meat to keep things hygienic. Go for wooden or BPA-free plastic boards.
3. Cookware Essentials
Start with a basic saucepan, frying pan, and deep cooking vessel like a kadai. Stainless steel or heavy-duty materials work best for even heat.
4. Measuring Cups & Spoons
They’re crucial for accuracy in recipes — especially baking. Keep a standard measuring set in your drawer.
5. Mixing Bowls
You’ll use them for mixing, marinating, serving, and more. Stainless steel or glass bowls are hygienic and long-lasting.
6. Spatulas, Tongs & Ladles
These make cooking smoother and safer. Silicone spatulas are heat-resistant and gentle on pans.
7. Peeler & Grater
Small but mighty — these tools help with peeling vegetables and grating cheese, ginger, or spices.
8. Tawa & Kadai
A flat pan for making rotis or dosas and a deep pan for frying or making curries are staples in Indian kitchens.
9. Pressure Cooker
If you cook lentils, rice, or one-pot meals, a pressure cooker is indispensable. It saves time and energy.
10. Strainer or Colander
Perfect for rinsing rice, draining pasta, or washing vegetables.
Tips to Choose the Right Tools
Not all tools are equal. Here’s what to look for:
Material: Go for food-safe, durable options like stainless steel or silicone.
Comfort: Pick tools with good grip and balance to avoid strain.
Cleaning: Tools that are easy to clean or dishwasher-safe save effort.
Functionality: Multipurpose tools reduce clutter and save space.
Caring for Your Tools
To make your tools last longer:
Clean them immediately after use.
Dry thoroughly to prevent rust.
Avoid harsh scrubbers, especially on non-stick surfaces.
Store them in organized racks or drawers.
Final Thoughts
The right cooking tools for kitchen don’t need to be fancy — they just need to be functional, safe, and suited to your style of cooking. Investing in a solid set of essentials makes everyday meal prep faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned cook, starting with the basics will set you up for success in the kitchen.

All I’m saying is certain pots/pans are sacred. I know bc if I try and make something I’ve made a hundred times in a different vessel it doesn’t turn out right.

lmfao at the fact that out of all my thousands of f1 reblogs it was that horrific video of ollie (19 year old British white boy who comes from insane money apparently and has never cooked a day in his life probably) attempting to make an omelette that got you raged enough to reblog and add tags 😂
Bro i almost sent it to so many irls this morning just to share my pain but didn’t just out of fear to out my blog because of the tags 😭

i want to make a zine or zines about cooking, specifically fundamental ways of approaching cooking to build the skills to do it independently. it would be very different from a recipe book, though it would contain some technique elements and recipe suggestions.
i want to know if it would be better as a single big zine, or several small ones.

March, 17th 2024 – [...] Now that I'm thinking about it, this entire drink would have been nice as is if I had some sort of mesh strainer to seperate the large chunks from the juice itself. That way, it could suffice without ice! 🧊 I def need to invest in one if I cant find one thrifted.
Look at this Thang!
Tumblr media
(Still wet from washing and sanitizing it)
I thrifted it, indeed! I'm so glad cuz this was exactly what I was looking for! Although.... its quite enourmous for my needs lol.
Tbh, I'm not sure what this would be use for at this size? And what would one even call this tool? I siezed a second-hand opportunity for a few bucks but am not even sure what I bought LMAO.
My idea was to use only part of it to strain unpleasant veggie chunks from juice blends I make with my blender. But i def dont need this much mesh for small streams of liquid!
I'll be back with ideas for this peculiar tennis racket I bought lol...

I got a handmade rice/soup bowl. Was it indulgent? Slightly. Will I use it? Yes. I refuse to eat out of anything else I love it so much.

Aloha Romantic Friends,
My final review is that this works great if your product had the same consistency of pancake batter. My handmade lotions are very thick and creamy and i like it cleans very easily. #unboxingvideo

Stocking Your Kitchen
hi.
Wanna start cooking? Have zero idea what you actually need? What knives should I buy? What pans should I use? What cutting boards are the best? What kitchen gadgets are good for shortcuts? The answer to all of these questions is simple, especially if you don't know what you're doing. Or just don't care.
It doesn't matter what you use as long as it is a) food safe and b) not so poor in quality that you have to replace it in a few months. You can always replace your tools with better ones once you're more confident in your skills, but don't feel bad about buying some cheap as long as it works.
For people who like to be told what to do, here's a list of basic kitchen equipment I feel anyone who's in the kitchen for more than the microwave should use:
Basic Kitchen Utensils Set (this has everything you could ever possibly need and maybe a little extra) - https://amzn.to/3R1CJPx
Color-Coded Cutting Boards (tells you what you should cut on which color for maximum safety!) https://amzn.to/3Ekn8mv
Mixing Bowls (microwave safe! and with lids!) - https://amzn.to/47WAlQ4
Heat Resistant Spatulas (one or two are included in the set above, but you'll need more. i promise) - https://amzn.to/3r1XHD0
Metal Tongs (THE COOL COLORED RUBBER ONES CANNOT GO IN HOT OIL PLEASE BUY THESE) - https://amzn.to/3sBP8Q0
Leak Proof Containers (great for leftovers and portioning!) - https://amzn.to/45w9HvI
Veggie Slicer/Mandolin (why cut veggies by hand when u can just smack it into a blade????) - https://amzn.to/3EfRcjf
Chef's Knives (cheap, basic set of knives) - https://amzn.to/47TFvfs
Fruit and Veggie Containers (great for keeping fresh produce fresh) - https://amzn.to/45RlMvm
