Hey, is it ok of me to ask where was the implication about "Renata implied to be romantically involved with Corina Veraza"? I'm very curious and I haven't seen this being mentioned anywhere (unless I missed it).

THINGS WE KNOW: Renata abhors her parents and thinks they were idiots, she has been referred to as "new money" always trying to reassert herself and her place in the world (ergo her champion name being Renata Glasc, for branding, reminding you to never forget WHO she is) - Renata brought her name to the high peak it now occupies and designed her crest as part of her company's branding. Her parents had nothing to do with it.

She made a decision to include the sigils of another chem-baronness in it.

I wonder who fits that description...?

Worth noting that Corina Veraza's speciality is bioengineering (pink) toxic flowers with uncanny abilities, and Renata's biggest weapon is a big decanter that spits out Indeterminate (pink) Fumes That Mess With Your Mind/Nervous System - this is a personal take, but I don't think it's hard to imagine Renata's weapon may source its power from Corina's uncanny biochemical garden.

The funny part is that Corina is described as someone who wants to stomp all over piltover *AND* zaun's current good for nothing chembarons. She is a poison ivy, an ecoterrorist, someone who does care in her own warped way, while Renata is Toxic Waste Capitalism Unbridled. There is a conflict of interest here. The beginning of my post-Arcane scenario: Vi is a brusque and lonesome cop that no one likes and who’s stuck in a job she hates that alienated her from all her old friends and put her firmly under the cold thumb of Camille Ferros while Jinx is firmly established in Piltover, all the chem-barons cherish and coddle her, she hangs out with Ziggs and Scratch and Mundo and Amy and steals weed from Corina Veraza and she’s always welcome at the Last Drop even Ekko and Zeri have softened and oh what else she’s friends with a DEMON.

The streets widen. Vi's steps slow. Ahead, a wall is bathed in a halo of lustrous lantern-orange light. A knot of Fissurefolk are gathered under its glow. Some smoke cigarettes and whisper somberly among themselves. Others kneel, their features cast in shadow. Their lips stir; their heads are bowed.

Vi realizes they are praying. To what, she can't tell. But whatever they believe in, it's not a goddess flung from the sky.

Their faith is rooted in flesh.

Her sister's flesh.

Vi stops short. Her eyes take in the mural. It covers the wall in its entirety. Gang insignias splash the charred base. Layers upon layers, an impasto chronicling the fall-and-rise of the Undercity's history. First the purple ruff of the Sledgerunners. Then the red carnation of Corina Veraza. Third, the stylized filigree of the Hush Company. Fourth, the vertical pistol of the Slickjaws.

Last is the Eye of Zaun—a typographical twist of Silco's name. A taunt in plain sight.

The mural itself is a masterclass of collaborative styles. Dozens of artists have contributed with angular scrawls of graffiti; cartoonish caricatures of folk art; cubist abstractions of bas relief. And yet the central figure is unmistakable. A girl balanced on a rocket like a surfboard. Her blue braids fly in twin comets. Her grin is both bloodthirsty and sugar-crazed.

I bring a sort of wild vibe ("corina veraza is sky reincarnated" theory) to the function (the reawakening of the arcane fandom) that the homies (league of legends/legend of runeterra players) don't understand (will rightfully shoot down because of lore inaccuracy)

Gilded Jinx Looks Like What I Thought Chembarons Would Look Like.

Look at her, she looks like an 80s punk pirate queen with bolder coloring than both her gilded and chembaron counterparts, complete with bright makeup (by Victorian standards) and big hair. Zaun is supposed to be set apart from Piltover by the unmistakable creativity and innovation expressed through a loud punk aesthetic that it's inhabitants are meant to embody, at least the younger inhabitants do. The higher up the food chain you go in Zaun, the punk aesthetic filters out with only the Victorian base remaining.

(Finn's a bit of the exception but his aesthetic is kind of supposed to coincide with his self-serving nature rather than a reflection of Zaun's culture.)

On one hand you could argue that it's some kind of social commentary where these violent gangleaders are adopting the aesthetic of their oppressors to take on similar roles. But even chembarons that are antagonistic to Piltover, and frankly just hate Piltover for what it's done to them and their families still take on Piltovan aesthetic. If it isn't a straightforward Victorian aesthetic, then it's more of a fusion of modern business clothing and evening wear. This goes for characters like Silco, Renata, and Corina Veraza.

(Shout out to Silco for keeping it real and stitching his pants instead of getting new ones.)

Zaun, at least in League, is it's own city-state with its own distinct culture, but so often these leaders don't really embody that (once again maybe social commentary, but that explanation only goes so far). Honestly their designs are so dedicated to Piltover aesthetics sometimes it doesn't even communicate their wealth! The thing most of them are all about! If someone has to be in rags for me to know they're rich they're not doing it right.

The chembarons don't all have to be like that, but it seems like they're usually designed to just look like evil Piltovans. The only unifying part of their design that doesn't borrow from Piltover and makes them distinct is their asymmetrical styling and the fact they all either have scars or body mods to accommodate their disabilities, or both.

And here's Jinx in her obnoxiously loud outfit ready for the runway! Yeah her money's new, what are you gonna do about it? She's the right mix loud fun 80s mess with her fishnets and and ripped mesh covered in a fancy jacket lined with ermine fur. It would have been so easy to give her hexgem earrings, but no, they're in chemtech green, hooked with actual screws. The coloring alone says to me the designers couldn't let go of Jinx's Zaunite origins because her character defines Zaun as much as Zaun defines her. You'd almost think she was making fun of Piltover if she weren't wearing her look so well, if wasn't so dedicated to playful asymmetry where here shoes are slightly different, her coattails slant in two different style. Her whole look is so customized to be Jinx sans Piltover, it's just so her. The Gilded universe is supposed to be a universe where everybody's living a comfortably ritzy and safe Piltovan lifestyle and Jinx’s missing an arm. The prosthetic looks great!

The chembarons are supposed be a coalition of leaders in Zaun. Sure, they're gangleaders, but a lot of rich people politics is gang politics. At least some of them should understand that to grow past the shadow of Piltover, they need to embrace the strengths of Zaun, not co-opt Piltie patterns. Gilded Jinx's design understands that so well. If you put these pictures in a line up and asked me to find the chembaron, my safest choice would be Jinx.

Tldr: Chembarons in League of Legends and Arcane aren't very distinct from their Piltovan counterparts. The only real difference is their visible disabilities, body mods, and asymmetry (maybe goth vibes too). Gilded Jinx is a great example of what chembarons could be, leaders with loud and eccentric vibes that actually matches the distinct culture of Zaun itself.

Do you have aby theory regarding that Renata/Viktor interaction when she tells him "you forget whose money make you what you are" 🤔🤔🤔

not saying this in a mean way but i don't think there is anything to theorize there when renata's bio + short story directly declare that her whole deal is "finding young zaun geniuses in need of economic support and trapping them within parasitic contracts that give her right to their every patent (sometimes threatening their family or livehood to ensure loyalty)" she's just grifting capitalism baby. After viktor got kicked out of college with no job where do you think he'd get money for all that robot business?

But i mean this in a fully derogatory way: i am deeply uncomfortable when people try to make that out to be romantic &/or sexual entanglement, beyond the entire predatory dynamic renata's concept post *has* referred to her as Sapphic and yall have made me see so much despicable stuff.

Since I love compartmentalizing, I have 2 AO3 accounts I would consider "active": teefling (BG3 only) and Linka_From_Captain_Planet (Stardew Valley and Arcane) so I'll tally up the results for both so I sound more impressive.

How many works do you have on AO3? teefling: 8 (BG3) LinkaFCP: 24 (18 Arcane, 6 SDV)

What is your total AO3 word count? Teefling: 33,928 LinkaFCP: 209,399 Grand total: 243,327

What fandoms do you write for? Actively, just BG3. I could fall back into Stardew Valley at any moment (still eating up my new farms), but Acane is parked until Season 2 comes out, probably.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? - devil in disguise, snake with blue eyes (Arcane, caitvi) - An Anthology of Trib...ulations (BG3, shadowzel) - when my blue moon turns to gold again (BG3, shadowzel) - Goddess of the Hunt (Arcane, Cait/Brothel Girl) - come knock on this wood, get rocked by this thunder (Arcane, Cait/Sevika) These range from like 600 (high outlier) to 200. Honestly having a high kudos count is sort of embarrassing to me, as a mostly rarepair fan. My ideal amount of kudos is like, 50.

Do you respond to comments? Yes! I try to match the energy and give more detailed replies to more detailed comments, but I'll always respond to say thanks (even if it takes me a while). The only type of comment I might intentionally ignore is one asking for updates.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I think most people would say "when my blue moon turns to gold again" (BG3) because it involves a major character death, but for my taste it's pretty optimistic! I'd say it was "couldn't we reach inside and find that world of me and you" (Arcane), covering my take on Vi's time in prison and finding, and losing, her first love.

What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? "Courtship Traditions of the Stardew Valley: A Case Study", which was the last installment of my Haley Hates Prismatic Shards series. It's my designated tooth-rotting fluff fic.

Do you get hate on fics? Somewhat surprised to say no! I would just delete it/block without acknowledgement if I did.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yep! It really varies by whatever agenda the fic has. Sometimes PWP, but usually still with an elaborate setup/backstory, which I like-- I'm always hornier for a Concept and Why Are They Fingering than the fingering itself. Not to tell on myself, but sometimes I get annoyed at the meager and/or gross offerings whilst trying to cruise a kink tag, and just write my own damn fic. But mostly, I just like to use sex in fics to inform the characters' dynamic in a kind of saucy and gripping way. I wouldn't say it's low-hanging fruit, but definitely a fast track toward a high-emotion dynamic or situationship or whatever it is that I really want to portray. Writing the actual sex part is often a bummer for me.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I lack the whimsy for a proper crossovers (mixing Arcane and League like I do when I want to be horny about Corina Veraza doesn't count). This is why all my fics take place firmly in the original media's universe, and I can't do AUs either.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I know of!

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, and I don't think I really could. I'm happy to bounce ideas around, but actually collaborating on the actual writing would drive me crazy. I was the group project control freak for way too many years of school to do it again.

What's your all-time favorite ship? This is hard to answer as a relentless multishipper who fixates on one fandom at a time. Currently I'm in BG3 and it's Minthara/Florrick. In Arcane, it was Caitlyn/Brothel Girl, and in SDV, it's Leah/Haley.

What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Realistically... I will probably never finish the Arcane series I started, which was about Vi and her "prison wife" unless I fall ass first into that particular insanity again. I will probably also never update my shadowzel kink ficlet collection.

What are your writing strengths? Concept, mood/atmosphere, POV character voice I'd say.

What are your writing weaknesses? Getting caught up in minutiae that don't really matter but need to be *perfect* before I can move on, being a control freak and over-explaining things because I can't stand the possibility of being misunderstood

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? This is such a random question, but it depends on whether it's a real language and how much dialogue it is. My works take place in fantasy worlds with fantasy characters, so it's whatever. If I'm writing in Minthara or Lae'zel's POV, I throw in commonly-known (to the fandom) drow or gith words with no explanation and usually not even italicized since it's a part of that character's usual diction. If I needed them to have a whole conversation in their tongue, I'd write it in English with italics to set it apart from the 'common' dialogue and prose.

First fandom you wrote for? Stardew Valley was the first fandom I ever published a fic for! But I would write for myself sometimes before that, I think it was probably Zelda (OOT) when I was really young. I didn't write at all between probably 13 and 25.

Favorite fic you've written? Super hard to say. Some of my older writing makes me cringe, but I have a lot of affection for older works that got me into the fandoms that have given me a lot of joy over the past few years. Best I can do is break it down by fandom. For Arcane, it's definitely "venus flytrap". For SDV, I'd say "Maybe Prismatic Shards Are Okay". For BG3, I'm torn between "mirage" (my favorite concept even if I think I could have executed it better) and "hold you like a python".
