i love when words fit right. seize was always supposed to be that word, and so was jester. tuesday isn't quite right but thursday should be thursday, that's a good word for it. daisy has the perfect shape to it, almost like you're laughing when you say it; and tulip is correct most of the time. while keynote is fun to say, it's super wrong - i think they have to change the label for that one. but fox is spot-on.
most words are just, like, good enough, even if what they are describing is lovely. the night sky is a fine term for it but it isn't perfect the way november is the correct term for that month.
it's not just in english because in spanish the phrase eso si que es is correct, it should be that. sometimes other languages are also better than the english words, like how blue is sloped too far downwards but azul is perfect and hangs in the air like glitter. while butterfly is sweet, i think probably papillion is more correct, although for some butterflies féileacán is much better. year is fine but bliain is better. sometimes multiple languages got it right though, like how jueves and Πέμπτη are also the right names for thursday. maybe we as a species are just really good at naming thursdays.
and if we were really bored and had a moment and a picnic to split we could all sit down for a moment and sort out all the words that exist and find all the perfect words in every language. i would show you that while i like the word tree (it makes you smile to say it), i think arbor is correct. you could teach me from your language what words fit the right way, and that would be very exciting (exciting is not correct, it's just fine).
i think probably this is what was happening at the tower of babel, before the languages all got shifted across the world and smudged by the hand of god. by the way, hand isn't quite right, but i do like that the word god is only 3 letters, and that it is shaped like it is reflecting into itself, and that it kind of makes your mouth move into an echoing chapel when you cluck it. but the word god could also fit really well with a coathanger, and i can't explain that. i think donut has (weirdly) the same shape as a toothbrush, but we really got bagel right and i am really grateful for that.
grateful is close, but not like thunder. hopefully one day i am going to figure out how to shape the way i love my friends into a little ceramic (ceramic is very good, almost perfect) pot and when they hold it they can feel the weight of my care for them. they can put a plant in there. maybe a daisy.
#warm up#writeblr.#i am not going to personally comment on the pineapple debate#some things are too big for me.#maybe we could have everything on earth choose their own names.#wouldn't that be fun#it is a creative writing exercise. okay. ily#''why only these languages?'' ..... bc i dont know every language#sorry :(#PLEASE leave me comments about what words u think are correct. i love learning them#btw! this isn't saying these are the most BEAUTIFUL words for it... just the words that are the most CORRECT#like i quite like the word ''keynote'' as mentioned. it's got a lot of fun sounds in it.#but it is not CORRECT.#''gloaming''' is interesting and fun and poetic but it is NOT correct . evening is MORE correct#but less beautiful.#does that make sense?

#transformers#tf mimics au#tf jazz#yall/ don’t even mind the ramble but#to me/ the definition of Keferoning is probably loosely related to the phrase#•Wanting to do something creative. / Being scared. / And doing it anyways. 🎉✨•#very chaotic good sorta energy 😂#I’m at that point where I’ve got like 2 large wips on the top shelf#precariously balanced on top of 20 million other concepts I wanna finish#and my ladder just finished falling apart like a Lego set#sound effects and everything 😭#Have I mentioned how time is my greatest enemy yet??#cause it is#and I would lovingly fight it to the death for an extra hour of crafting time#🫶😌

aoyagi brothers design headcanons before colopale shows us what they look like
- all very tall but since toya’s the youngest and still growing he hasn’t quite caught up yet
- all have a beauty mark but they’re in different spots (probably all inherited from aoyagi mom since harumichi doesn’t seem to have any)
- pretty much everyone agrees that their hair colours go like this i don’t need to say anything about that (i think they all have a bit of two tone hair going on but toya got it the worst) ((or maybe the best))
#i don’t know if they will drop a shuuji sprite but they seem to be leading up to VBS meeting toya’s brother so#i think they’re all quite proper and somewhat aloof because at they end of the day harumichi raised them#but shuji sounded friendly over the phone at least#either that or i’m projecting because i want toya to have a healthy relationship with at least ONE of his family members#how many creativity points did i lose for making one of them a harumichi clone#my art#project sekai#prsk fa#project sekai headcanons#vivid bad squad#vbs#aoyagi toya#toya aoyagi#shuji aoyagi#natsuomi aoyagi

Felt a bit nostalgic watching RT shut down…Here are the og faves again for old times sake 💙
#rvb#agent washington#agent Carolina#lavernius tucker#michael j caboose#epsilon#my art rvb#ahhh a lot of feelings…of course I stepped away from rt as a company a long time ago#but RvB is special to me!! it was my first fandom experience ever#and the community here on tumblr specifically was so instrumental to me growing up#I really could not have asked for a better community of artists and writers to grow up in. I know it sounds like platitudes when I say#that everyone was super nice and talented but REALLY. People were so kind to me and somehow I became well known despite#my art and writing and me in general still being immature and hashtag cringe#I found my creative legs and#people would respond to my stuff with walls and walls of support in the tags and we would do exchanges and events every year#I made my first lyric comic and it’s still doing extremely well on YouTube even today!! my dad who passed away recently always loved it#and my favorite RvB writer came out of hibernation to write me a bunch of text wall asks about it#I’ve never had another fandom experience quite like RvB#I still keep in touch with many of my friends from that time period even though we’ve all moved on the other things#these guys will always always have a place in my heart#so long reds and blues….

This is my daughter Hester! She is a string eater- so no strings allowed into the house. She is also a Thief! When she was a kitten (about 1kg) she stole 2kgs of meat, dragged it under a sofa so she could eat it. We literally accused my dad of first leaving it in the shops and second, that he imagined buy the meat 🤣 She later stole my mum's necklace when she went for a shower- her wedding rings were threaded through it as well. Also my mum's gold watch, and a container with gold earrings in it.
When she drinks water it sprinkles up onto her nose and leaves her with fashionable sparkles, or if I give her kisses without realising, a little sip of water that she shares with me 😆
She is currently living with my parents bc I work insane shift hours and she would be very lonely.... no one thinks about how lonely I might be!! I miss her a lot 😢

Hester has been assigned the title: Arcane Trickster.
#wizard#digital art#poorly-drawn-cats#I don't have another tag for 'drawing cats' at the moment so that one will have to suffice for now.#I absolutely adore the lore to this crafty trickster! Hester is very adorable! And so fun to draw as a wizard!#Her belly looks very soft! And also a perfect trap to have my fingers bitten!#Thank you for sending your house wizard and entrusting her into my imaginative care.#I know how the heart aches for a pet that your current life and schedule can't (yet) fit. I hope you get to visit often!#She sounds like a truly loveable rascal...and a very talented thief!#As a wizard - I am assigning her as one who has found so many creative uses for mage hand.#At this point is it really mage hand if it's always out and about? It's more of a mage familiar by now.#If people are unsure why I am (and about to continue) drawing wizard cats: I made a soggy plea about it on my whisker wizard comic.#This is the benefit of doing the optional readings for the class <3

Some Words to Describe Different Sounds
Harsh or loud. If you want to articulate abrupt, piercing, or loud noises, use: beep, bellow, blare, cackle, clack, clang, clank, clink, croak, earsplitting, full blast, grating, high frequency, huff, jarring, rasp, rumble, scrunch, shriek, toot, twang, vibrating, wail, and zap.
Soft or subtle sounds. Some descriptors to use to evoke quiet noises: breathy, chime, droning, fizz, glug, gurgle, jingle, moan, sizzle, squish, swish, swoosh, tinkle, trill, wheeze, whir, and whoosh.
Animal sounds to describe noises. English language readers often associate these words with animal noises, but you can use them to create imaginative descriptions of other sounds: bleat, bray, chirping, cluck, hoot, howl, meow, neigh, purr, quack, roar, woof, and yelp.
How to Write With Sound
Auditory imagery engages the sense of hearing.
Literary devices (onomatopoeia; alliteration) can help create sounds in writing.
Sound is a great sense to use to create a mood.
Consider two scenes of the same forest:
You might describe the chirping of many small birds, the rustle of small mammals moving through the softly falling leaves, or the whispering of a breeze through the trees. This creates a particular atmosphere, one that seems peaceful and maybe even a little magical.
Now consider another set of sounds from the same forest. Somewhere in the distance you hear the howl of an unidentifiable animal. Nearer to you, the creak of an old branch, followed by the snap of a twig. The wind, when you hear it, seems to moan.
The same two descriptions of a forest can create entirely different atmospheres with sensory language. Some exercises:
Carry a notebook with you as you go about your normal day.
Pay attention to the sounds you notice and write them down as you go.
Does your coffeemaker whistle, or would you say it hisses?
Do the sirens of emergency vehicles wail, or perhaps blare?
Does your door squeak?
The more you can become attentive to these things, the more you’ll be able to incorporate them into your writing.
Use onomatopoeia to help capture the sound of a scene:
The plop of a frog dropping into a pond
The clink of two champagne glasses
The crackle of a dry log on a hot fire
The whoosh of a car racing by
Onomatopoeic Words: hiss, ping, crunch, pop, sizzle, bang, swish, smash, flutter, clunk, peck, whistle, smack, whack, hush, whir, tip-toe, thud, zap, twang, cock-a-doodle-doo, squish, stomp, tap, thump, splash, purr, tinkle, gush, kerplunk, slurp, swirl, crash, whirl, clang, mumble, squeak, boom, meow, cuckoo, pow, splat, quack, screech, zoom, tick-tock, burp, clip-clop, eek, hiccup, moo, oink, buzz
In general, though, you’ll want to be judicious about using onomatopoeia, unless you’re going for a deliberately cheesy, comic book-type effect.
Tips for Describing Sounds in Writing
Consider your purpose. As you begin a project, decide if you want to render a specific experience faithfully or creatively. Consider the target audience for your creative writing, blog, or journalism. Understanding your goal and audience helps you make descriptors more effective and precise.
Employ onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is a type of sensory language in which the descriptive word sounds like what it describes—words like “drip,” “bang,” or “plink.” If you want to achieve an especially sound-driven description, consider using existing onomatopoeic words or craft your own.
Pay attention to verbs. While adjectives (words like “loud” or “sharp”) are the obvious choice for describing sounds, verbs are a powerful tool that can also help you achieve a strong description. For example, saying, “the jet was loud” is accurate and descriptive, while “the jet screamed” evokes an even stronger sense of the sound.
Sometimes less is more. Descriptions are most effective when focused, allowing readers to zero in on the essential details. If you include too many synonyms or attach multiple adjectives to each noun, you can overwhelm or confuse readers.

A thing!

Context: Latter goes on a walk on a morning during his family’s stay at Howdy’s and spots Quincy making snow castles. Quincy, excited to see someone new, invites him over and the topic of poems comes up and eventually this scene happens. Latter reciting his poems to Quincy who then gives some feedback.
——————————-
Did I (not)suddenly imagine a friendship between Latter and Quincy? Yes.
Is there potential for a ship? …….perhaps. Mentally I’m taking that really slowly as I get used to Quincy being a character and figuring out what they might be like as a person. Orientation and their preferred partner (or lack thereof) being one of those things.
#I think Quin would be a good pair to a creative person looking for feedback#maybe to a writer or artist as books are one of their nore passive pastimes#*more#or just a sounding board. In Regards To Your 2024 Summary:
Holy shit it’s been another year????? The hell?????
Also! Your art style is gorgeous and that being found in 2023 and then refined throughout late 2023 and the entirety of 2024 really shows, as does your growth in panel layouts, perspective, and — as you said — experimentation. If you ever post your animation or video game art I’m looking forward to it.
As cheesy as it sounds, being able to laugh at funny comics and look at all the details of your art really made my 2024 brighter, even when things were hard. Including looking at your older art— it doesn’t need to be new to be enjoyable! I’m glad your art is well loved and it’s a privilege to have been here since the (near) beginning. I hope you take care of yourself in 2025 and beyond!
You and your art bring a lot of people a lot of joy never forget that <3
Thank you so much for keeping up with my art journey throughout these last two years! Two years!!! I am baffled at how that feels both too long and too short!
Admittedly, my art summary didn't manage to capture the fact that I did a lot of comic layouts that I'm really proud of. I also drew more backgrounds and made some very detailed works (*Dungeon Meshi spoilers for these examples*).
The growth is lot more evident when comparing my 'best' comics of 2023 to 2024:
Sometimes the growth is vertical, sometimes it is horizontal - and damn, sometimes it goes out of sight into the Z-plane. But it is always happening!
#art summary#ask#The privilege is honestly mine; to be able to create comics and have had people rooting me on since the beginning really means a lot.#To everyone who the potential I couldn't and continues to stick around: Thank you so very much.#I cannot emphasize enough that I do see you. I do notice those who regularly like/reblog/comment.#I notice when people who haven't been around come back and mass like/reblog posts.#There are some people who have only *ever* liked my posts or have only ever lurked! I notice! I am so thankful!#At the risk of also sounding cheesy; I'm honestly happy to give back whatever I can to my audience.#Knowing I have brought people a little bit of joy to their day with my silly comics makes every long night worth it.#I probably make a longer post about it in the future; but last year when I made my first comic redraw-#-was the same day I got the news that someone very beloved to me passed away. I was in such deep grief I couldn't respond to comments.#But I still read them and I mean this earnestly; even though I was smiling through tears -#everyone's kind words truly helped make a pretty dark month a lot brighter. I probably would have crumbled without the support.#What really gets me is this: it was never directed at trying to cheer me up. It was just earnest kindness towards a stranger making comics.#If you've ever wondered 'hey does PD-MDZS know how much I appreciate their silly comics?'#know I have also sat here and thought 'Hey does this person know how much I appreciate seeing them in my notifications?'#Which also includes you! Mina BNHA you will always be associated with the cool person who's been rooting for me B*)#I wish everyone a wonderful new year; may all our creative endeavors be something we see as an exciting discovery.

Salutations! I hope you are having a wonderful day, and/or night. I feel sheepish to ask, since I feel it might be a silly question, but do you have any tips for how to get over anxiety about posting artwork? Especially when first starting out posting, and having the feeling of nobody liking it. And then having the slow wait and the uncomfortable moments where you want to delete whatever you posted. This might be a loaded question, and I apologize once again, but I thought it was worth asking, since you have talked about having anxiety about such things before. It's something I'm having to tackle at the moment, and thought to ask about. You are always very mindful about things, so I just wanted to know if you had anything to say. Once again, thank you for your time. You're an amazing person, and have an amazing week. 🖤🖤🖤
Hi! I'm flattered you value my thoughts enough to ask! I'm not very good at giving advice but I can try. I'm only speaking for myself and how I look at these things, so don't treat this as universal truth or a big motivational speech or anything.
But yes, I know exactly what you mean, the feeling of anxiety and awkwardness about posting art. Finally collecting the courage to do it and then being hit with a wave of self-consciousness and a visceral urge to delete it. I don't think I have any quick and practical tips for overcoming it, I'm afraid.
I'd encourage you to try to avoid deleting your art posts, even if it feels bad looking at them. Working hard on something and seeing that it isn't getting the response you hoped for hurts, understandably so. But you have to keep in mind that building a gallery, finding mutuals and attracting an "audience" is a slow process, it takes time for the right people to find you. If you keep removing stuff those people will never have the chance to connect with your work. Imagine them coming across your account, stopping to look around briefly, seeing that there's not much to see and leaving. If you have more artwork to show (even if some of it is not perfect), you may be able to hold their attention longer, and they might follow you because they have a reason to believe you will make more.
If it gets truly unbearable, you always have the option to go back and delete the post that's causing you anxiety. It's your art and your account, your choice and your right to do that. But doing it regularly can turn into self-sabotage quickly, and prevent you from getting past the uncomfortable entry level.
It gets easier over time. You build a tolerance for that uneasy, exposed feeling. I know everyone says this and it's practically impossible to do in reality, but try not to get discouraged by numbers. They don't determine the value of your work or the level of your skill. Don't think "nobody likes this", think "the people who would like this haven't seen it".
Virality is often short lived and disloyal, don't compare yourself to hit posts. People who get famous overnight lose the majority of their following as soon as their fans find the next cool thing. Focus on the people who are actually invested in what you make long-term. It sounds cliche, but a comment or string of thoughtful tags will most certainly motivate and inspire you more than any number of anonymous likes.
Try to be patient, engage with people who have similar interests as you to build a meaningful online circle that you enjoy sharing things with, and do your best to learn to love your art more than the amount of notes it gets.
#answered#anonymous#sorry if this sounds unbearably banal and soapboxy I'm genuinely just trying to be helpful#I get nervous and self-conscious about my art as well and it usually gets more intense if I take a break from posting regularly#but sometimes you really find your drive and you get into this inspiration loop where you're just bursting with creative juices#and at that moment the self-actualization is real
