I’ve had to deal with a devastating issue today; and I feel like us Proshippers need to have a conversation really quickly about something very important.

Drawings of real minors in sexual situations should not be created or posted. Ever.

I’ve made that mistake when I was 12, and it still affects me deeply to the point I call myself a CSEM victim because of my stupid and immature decisions. (Actually, if you knew me when I was Destroyalition, you might’ve seen my vent posts about how bad it affected me when I was younger.)

I understand if you’re a selfshipper and want to show your love to your f/o by drawing you guys in romantic situations, but drawings of real kids in those situations are risky. Sexual drawings of that nature are something we should be warning kids not to draw at all. I don’t want anyone else to feel the same pain and grief and anxiety I felt after learning what I drew was harmful and illegal.

Please, be careful. Don’t let adults draw you in sexual situations. Don’t let yourself make a dumb and immature decision. Please stay safe and be careful.

So Minor Proshippers. Listen up. There’s an alternative that is safe to this called creating OC self inserts. Please use those instead to your hearts content. Make sure they don’t look like you though, and please heal.

I just feel like this needs to be specified to the MAXIMUM. I am dearly sorry to everyone who was as immature as I was, and made the same mistake. Take this as a warning, don’t learn the same way I did. Stay safe.

How many times do victims of CSA have to tell people that CP (which, yes, does include fictional children) creates victims before they fucking get it. It is 100% possible to keep that to yourself and in your own pants and you're not quirky or radical for posting it, you are just unlikeable and any good adult would NOT trust you around their children if they knew that this was your attitude.

It is 100% possible to keep that shit private, and many people keep even their harmless fetishes private all the time, but for some reason you think it's imperative people are able to publicly have access to and read your CP? Freak behaviour, and not in a good way.

It is the exception that someone goes out and kills someone to get off after being exposed to gore erotica, meanwhile CSA is a COMMON occurance that is PERPETUATED by children being deprived of good sex education and exposed to works portraying CSA that's anything less than properly curated to be appropriate for their learning level. You know there's still laws allowing child marriage, right? CSA is not a thing of the past it's an ONGOING issue. Nobody is a hyprocite for getting off to blood and guts while condemning CP.

no matter what way you dice it, jesse lacey has never genuinely been brought to justice for what are some of the best documented and most identical accounts of grooming minors and soliciting child sexual exploitation material in modern music, especially in an industry that is rife with allegations of sexual misconduct. for years, he manipulated, groomed, and sexually coerced teenage girls that, had he gone onto do his original career path, he would have had close contact with anyway as a licensed child psychologist. yes, it really is so much worse than you even think.

he did apologize, but it was not adequate. he took no accountability for his harm and he blamed sex addiction, which you can seek therapy for instead of exploiting minors. he did retreat from the public eye for a decade. this is not equivalent to serving jail time or being registered as a sex offender. it's very sad that his child died. this has absolutely no bearing on his actions and is irrelevant to bring up. a family tragedy does not negate the very real, lasting harm he has caused to what are likely dozens of women, since there are probably many more who have not come forward.

"but i loved brand new when i was younger!" there are a lot of bands i loved when i was younger that i'd no longer consider myself a fan of. things change, and so can you.

"i'm a new fan of brand new and this is the first time they're touring while i've been a fan!" there are plenty of bands that i love that i've never seen live, and i can live with that.

"oh but even if that's true, only jesse did those things, not his bandmates or team! we shouldn't punish them!" they were present for and even encouraged/aided/abetted the grooming and manipulation. they are equally to blame.

"hasn't he been punished enough?" no, he has not. he hasn't been punished at all. a trial in the court of public opinion does not have a verdict that will ever really stick for a man like him. he's fine. he lives a comfortable life. he got away with it, because nostalgia is the fucking mind killer and is preventing that fanbase from growing and changing and supporting survivors.

don't buy tickets to this tour. torrent brand new's music if you, like me, still like deja entendu as a piece of art. do not give this man money. do not give this man attention. do not forgive him. move on.

I am down with and supportive of exploring anything in fiction, intensely so, whatever horrible gross fucked up fantasy sex thing you're thinking of, I'm pro that, no matter how 'realistic' or 'fetishized' or etc it may be, sexual fiction fantasy are not beacons of morality flags, moving on.

If you are on tumblr on your blog, especially your porn blog, making jokes about you Or your followers wanting to sexually abuse real children, that is an issue.

Tumblr has one of the worst problems with CSEM/CSAM/Etc I have ever seen on a social media, it's actually insane, like I am SURE that post is a tasteless joke but it's still a problem when being reblogged within the, again, very active active CSAM communities on tumblr which is again, incredibly existent and incredibly easy to get involved in and proxy support if you aren't careful and understand EXACTLY what rhetoric you are putting out there.

Again, I don't care about people posting their kinks, their fantasies, even if written in a way that isn't immediately clear it's all adults, because yeah, some people do have fantasies that are taboo and it has nothing to do with the things they think or do or etc outside their own fantasies, this has nothing to do with people posting like, I don't want to post anything too graphic because this post isn't intended to be super NSFW and I do want it to remain accessible, but there is a difference between someone posting a detailed fantasy wherein like, mommy fucking her son, kinks, and I don't care no matter which 'side' of the fantasy someone is on (end double standards for subs and doms)

There is a big difference between posting your sexual fantasy on your porn blog, that is fantastical, and does not involve real children, and going 'I'm a NSFW blog and kids shouldn't follow me, not because I'm a NSFW blog, but because my followers and I want to FUCK you, real child'

One of these involves the the fictional sexual fantasy of an adult posting in an adult space geared towards fictional sexual fantasies, with the implicit notion that any actual sexual contact would be between two adult bodies.

The other one normalizes the sexual abuse of real children by making its address to actual real children.

source. i think this is very pretty. this is a normal map. The idea is like. Suppose we want to have a 3d model of an old desk like this:

If we just throw that picture on a texture and hit render, we get something like this:

Which doesn't look particularly realistic! Notice how the light is staying in one place and all the highlights on the places where the pencil has dug into the wood don't move to catch the light. Our eyes automatically pick up a lot of detail about the texture of surfaces, and this doesn't look real.

in particular, the angle of the surface determines how much light is reflected at the camera. So we need a way to store the angle of every point on our surface! But it turns out we can use a neat coincidence; we see 3 primary colors and live in 3-dimensional space! To store the orientation of a surface, you can use the normal vector--the arrow perpendicular to the surface. (I like to imagine the object being covered in little tiny spikes sticking straight out at a right angle. We need a way to store those spikes.) Since we have 3 colors and 3 dimensions, we can encode the angle of the normal vector spikes as a color, where the red channel means the left-right angle, the green channel means the up-down angle, and the blue channel means the vertical angle sticking out at the viewer. So to go back to the old image:

The cyan bits to the left (some green, some blue, no red) are spikes pointing to the left. The red/pink bits to the right are spikes pointing to the right. The neutral blue-grey color in the middle is a spike sticking straight up.

There's lots of ways to make a normal map. You can paint them yourself, you can model a really complicated geometry and then calculate a normal map to apply to a much simpler geometry, or you can create it as the "derivative" of a heightmap (a greyscale image where white is high bumps and black is dips). There's even cool neural network things that try to infer the height/normal map from a picture or video!

Here's that normal map I stole applied to a totally flat grey square, with the light moving. Look how convincing the illusion of depth is!

So I think this is a really cool technique! But I also think that normal maps, the images themselves, are stunningly beautiful. That's why the background of my avatar is a normal map!
