Text
Consider an alternate universe (AU) where Danny is dragged along to a gala and introduced as Vlads heir. And instead of the classic meeting bat children, he meets a young Bruce Wayne.
The young Bruce is around 4ish and Danny makes quite the impression on him being the "cool older boy who can make snowflakes". Next thing he knows Danny is coming around the Manor 3 times a week to babysit Brucie.
They grow up together for 4 long years. Danny hanging out with Bruce and Galas and being an older brother figure for him. Until the fateful night of the Wayne family murder. Now there aren't any more galas and Alfred's busy taking care of things around the manor. Soon Bruce and Danny loose all forms of contact.
Skip to years later, when the Justice League summon the ghost king, intending to establish a peace treaty after a harsh scolding from contsintine and dr fate. And when Danny comes through the swirling green portal in full Ghost king regalia and swoops down and Hugs Batman. And when batman doesn't back away and proceeds to hug back.
Chaos, absolute chaos

multi-part works
miss americana & the heartbreak prince [in progress]
seasons of love [completed]
bite-sized fics
one-shots
said something stupid, instead of 'i love you' (cl16)
"When you were young, your mother once told you she thought you and Charles were each one half of a puzzle--incomplete without the other. You’re lucky to have him, she told you, people spend their whole lives looking for the other half of their puzzle."
this one and the next (cl16)
"You see him for the first time at a café. You’re sixteen and don’t even like coffee, but your best friend is dragging you in. He’s working behind the counter, flustered and busy, running around mixing drinks and taking orders. "Que voulez-vous commander madame?” He asked your friend, and she ordered. “Et vous?” I don’t drink coffee, you told him. He smiled, goofy, something familiar in his eyes. You noted his nametag, carefully drawn on with a chalk marker. Charles."
you gotta move, or move on (cl16)
"I feel like I barely know you anymore, you said once, on the phone, in the middle of the night because it was the only time you got calls from him anymore. He’s in America, racing with Sauber now and you haven’t been to a single race outside of Monaco."
oh, simple thing (cs55)
"“It’s dead,” you said, took it from him and tossed it aside. “It’s not nice to pick flowers, Carlito. It kills them.” He burst into tears and your mother scolded you the rest of the way home, even though it was her who always told you to leave the wildflowers wild. After some time and consideration (a plate of dinosaur nuggets, half of Cinderella, and a bedtime story) you’d decided maybe Carlos was right to cry about the dead flower."
blonde hair, lemonade tea (mv33)
"Max has been working in the nursery since the two of you got home from Abu Dhabi. He won’t let you anywhere near it, and makes you wear a mask when you even walk down the hall past the freshly painted bedroom. Each night you think he couldn’t become more protective over you, and each morning you’re surprised to find that somehow, he is."
strawberry wine (dr3)
part two: everywhere, everything
"Danny also moves around the place like he owns it, which, if it was up to him he probably would. He hums your name as he moves past, taps the opposite shoulder to the one he leans over, reading your textbook over your shoulder. “It’s seventeen,” he quips."
you can take it off (lh44)
"And then there was Lewis, the last to arrive, who never called you kid, who never viewed you as one. He sits adjacent you in the red, high back leather booth and takes up a seat and a half, the toe of his shoe brushing against the side of yours, flashing you apologetic puppy dog eyes every time he bumps against yours."
if walls could talk (cl16)
"He drags you into the living room, towards the rest of the evening festivities, with his arm tossed over your shoulder. Between that, and the whole let me get your eyelash thing minutes earlier, you’re as close to certain a person can get that he and his girlfriend are still broken up."

in the last 12 hours, you and ethan had grown very close, despite the more than unusal circumstances; or maybe because of them. both having been thrown into such a crazy situation, with a masked killer on the loose, it made it a little better that you weren’t going through it alone. everyone in the group had someone - tara and sam had eachother, same with chad and mindy. ethan and you were by far the most outcasted from the group, so in a weird way it brought you together.
sam and tara had been attacked by a killer in a ghostface mask at a bodega on the way to the police station last night, confirming that the murder that had happened a few hours before was in fact no coincidence. woodsboro had followed sam and tara and their friends to new york, and by association, you, ethan and everyone else were potential targets as well as potential suspects.
it was now daytime, sam and tara having spent all night at the police station. everyone except danny, sam’s neighbour friend, were sat outside the college campus, listening to mindy go over the rules of a franchise; which is what she determined you were all in at this point. sitting on the bench next to ethan with your legs across his lap, as mindy stood in front of the group.
“listen up nerds. as terrifying as this situation is, i’m actually glad i get the chance i get to redeem myself for not calling the killers last time. now, it seems like the killer is out to make a sequel to the requel,” mindy began.
“um- what’s a requel?” anika asked, raising her hand.
“sweetie, you’re beautiful. let’s hold all questions till the end,” mindy said.
“stab 1 took place in woodsboro…. stab 2 took place in…college,” sam recalled.
“i don’t like this,” ethan shook his head.
“do we think the killer is following the movies?” tara asked.
“it’s possible, and it would make sense if this was a regular sequel. but nobody just makes sequels anymore, we’re in a franchise! and there are certain rules to surviving a franchise!” mindy explained.
“i had a feeling,” sam sighed.
“everything has to be bigger than last time. forget about the legacy characters; canon fodder at this point. only brought back to be killed of in a cheap bit for nostalgia bit. it’s all about doing something different to keep people coming back: longer chase scenes, higher body count. if the killers last time were whiney, snowflake film nerds with letterboxd accounts instead of personalities, you can expect it to be the opposite this time. new city, suspicious new characters added to the friend group to round out the suspect list. and that’s not even the worst part,” mindy went on.
“oh this is where she tells us the worst part,” chad chimes in.
“the thing about franchises is that they’re ongoing episodic storylines… which means that main characters are expendable now too. meaning any of us could bite it at any time… especially sam and tara.”
“wait- am i in the friend group?” ethan asked, and mindy nodded.
“yeah i feel like i don’t really qualify,” you added. “i didn’t even know you guys 2 days ago.”
“this is true. it would seem you just have terrible timing. plus- you are from woodsboro, so that probably counts for something,” chad said, and unfortunately you realized he was probably right.
“but-i’m not like… one of the targets?” ethan asked, to which mindy nodded again and responded with a simple ‘mhm’.
“am i gonna die a virgin?” ethan asked, perhaps not realizing he said it out loud.
“that was a weird overshare.” mindy said, making a face.
“and by the looks of it i don’t think that’s gonna be a problem,” chad teased, gesturing to you and ethan. a blush formed on ethan’s face and you gave chad the finger, although you weren’t really that offended. he returned the gesture with a smile, and you knew he had just been teasing.
“first up; ethan, the shy and dorky guy who no one suspects because he’s so shy and dorky-“ mindy continued her speech.
“watch it,” you threatened, giving her a nasty look.
“why am i on the suspect list? because i’m randomly chads roomate?” ethan asked.
“roomate lotteries can be juked- you could’ve fixed it to get next to us!” she said, turning her attention to you. “and you- clearly you have some unresolved anger issues, and you suspiciously found your way into our friend group the night the killings started. not to mention the fact that you look like you know how to murder someone and get away with it.”
“for the record - i was not exactly trying to join your friend group; no offence.”
“so how did you end up with us last night?” tara asked genuinely.
“we were together at the frat party when you all left,” ethan explained. “we have econ together.”
“together.. at the party?” chad asked suggestively, wiggling his eyebrows, and tara slapped his arm. “sorry.”
“i’m in your film studies class too,” you said to mindy, ignoring chads question.
“interesting. so you also have a connection to the first victim.”
“mindy- i know you’re having your patented monologue moment, but i was at the same party as you when the murder happened. and i was in the apartment with you when sam and tara were attacked- we all were.”
“there’s always more than one killer- which brings us back to ….quinn - the slutty roomate; a horror movie classic.”
“sex positive, and… thank you?” she said, a confused look on her face.
“how exactly did you come to live with sam and tara?”
“i answered their ad online-“
“okay, say no more; you’ve already implicated yourself enough,” mindy interrupted.
“it was an anonymous ad mindy, plus her dad is a cop-“
“and that makes it more likely that she’s the killer becasue having a cop dad is a great cover- do you not remember how these movies work tara?” she yelled. “and finally; anika,” she said gesturing to her girlfriend, who blew a kiss at her, which mindy returned. “never trust the love interest.” her eyes narrowed, and anikas smile dropped.
“okay.. so we have our rules. and we have our suspects.”
“uhh what about you guys?” ethan suggested, referring to the four survivors from last years attacks.
“i think it’s safe to rule out the four of us who went through this last year,” mindy smiled.
“agreed.” chad said, pointing at her.
“well what if it is one of you. i mean what if the trauma from the last killing spree got to be too much and one… or more of you snapped.” quinn suggested.
“or- what if all of the killings made you thirsty for more? i mean to be honest some of the theories online about sam…” ethan started.
“don’t you fucking dare.” tara snapped, and he raised his eyebrows, but didn’t continue his sentence.
“ok let’s just face facts. if we’re all suspects, you’re all suspects.” anika said.
everyone silently agreed, eyeing eachother nervously as you
///
everyone was back at sam and tara’s apartment, except for ethan, who had said he was going to econ. with everything going on you decided not to go, as well you thought better to stay with the group than split up. you had tried to convince ethan to stay as well, but he said his dad would kill him if he didn’t go - he was super uptight about grades and stuff.
sitting on the couch with anika as chad, mindy, tara and sam were in the kitchen, you started to wish you had gone with ethan. what if something happened to him?
“shit,” you muttered under your breath, and anika looked over at you.
“hey… if you’re worried about ethan, i’m sure he’s fine. he’s with a bunch of people in class right?” she smiled. you were thankful for the reassurance, and to her surprise you smiled back.
“you’re right… thank you.”
“you seem cool. i wish we met under better circumstances,” she admitted, and you were a little surprised; she was one on the only people in ethan’s friend group who had been nice to you.
“yeah, me too.”
“so.. you and ethan?” she asked playfully, and you shrugged, looking at your phone awkwardly, secretly hoping he would text to say he was alive or something.
“i don’t know. we made out at the party and then… all this happened.” you said. it had been a crazy 24 hours to say the least. you wondered what you would be doing right now if you hadn’t talked to ethan at the party. “he’s cute though. it’s nice to have a … friend through all this i guess.” you weren’t sure why you were being so open with her, but you couldn’t help but feel a little better after talking about how you were feeling.
“well, i think after all this is over we could be friends. isn’t stuff like this supposed to bring people together?” she said, and you felt your phone buzz in your lap. “is that him?”
“yeah; he’s just checking in,” you answered, before typing a reply to ethan to let him know you were all okay. you typed out “i miss you” but decided against sending it, instead erasing the message and dropping your phone back on your lap. it soon buzzed again, and you picked it up, expecting it to be ethan again.
banging sounds could be heard from quinn’s bedroom, and you assumed it was her and her guest going at it again, until you heard the four voices in the dining room hush and someone mutter a quiet “oh my god.”
looking at your phone, you opened a text from an unknown number to be met with a photo of someone in a ghostface costume holding a bloody quinn, just on the other side of the door. everyone gathered next to you and anika in the living room, and you all stood in silence staring at the door to quinn’s room.
“run,” mindy spoke, and the door swung open, quinn’s body landing on you and anika, knocking you both to the floor. ghostface followed close behind and slashed at mindys arm, as chad and tara ran out of the apartment, leaving you, mindy, anika and sam. pushing quinn’s bloodied body off of the two of you, terror flashed in your eyes as the killer dove towards you, and you sent him backwards with a boot to the chest. he went after anika next, his hands wrapping around her throat and lifting her off the ground, and she squirmed around before he pinned her to the wall and drove his knife into her stomach. she screamed in pain as the killer twisted the knife and dragged it upwards, blood pouring from the wound before you picked up a dining room chair and slammed it over his back. the killer dropped anika to the ground, and you and mindy grabbed her and followed sam into quinn’s room, managing to slam the door just in time. the killer banged against it repeatedly and you turned the lock, leaning against the door as you breathed heavily.
“mindy- bathroom door,“ sam whispered, and mindy hurried to lock door on the other side of the room to the adjacent bathroom, where you heard her exclaim, you assumed at the sight of quinn’s lovers body, considering he was nowhere to be seen. sam followed walked over to the window, and you heard her slide it open as you held your hands against anikas stomach, trying to stop the bleeding.
sam and mindy screamed, the killer having come around to the other side of the door through the bathroom, throwing his body against it and trying to break open the lock. you and anika ran over, and tried to help mindy hold the door closed. after slashing at you with the knife, creating a deep gash in your shoulder blade, the four of you managed to push him out, barricading the door with a dresser. it wouldn’t hold him off for long, and he continued to kick at the door as danny, sams boyfriend next door slid a ladder over the expanse between the two windows for you all to crawl across.
“she’s loosing a lot of blood,” mindy said, referring to anika.
“say something more positive!” she cried in response, as sam started climbing out the window. sam made it across, calling for mindy to come next. you and her were using your weight to hold the dresser in place, trying to keep the killer out of the room with all of your strength.
“someone has to hold the door. y/n you go, i’ll get anika next.” she suggested instead, and you knew mindy just wanted to stay behind to protect her girlfriend. somehow even with everything that was currently happening, your mind flashed to ethan; and you were thankful that he wasn’t here, and that he was somewhere safe. “come on!”
you shrieked as the killer managed to get the door slightly open, and reach his arm through, the silver knife in his hand catching your cheekbone and leaving a long cut behind. mindy still leaning all of her weight against the dresser nodded at you to go, and you made your way to the window, grabbing hold of the ladder. sam and danny were holding it steady on the other side, and all you could think was
do not look down
do not look down
do not look down-
you crawled across the cold ladder over the alleyway below; which was surely a 30 foot drop if not further. you made it across and danny pulled you into the apartment, as sam called for anika to come next. her and mindy went back and forth on who should go across first, and anika promised to be right behind mindy. pressing a tearful kiss to her shaking girlfriends lips, mindy started her crawl across the ladder as you all held the ladder steady from the other side.
you watched as the dresser continued to shake from the killer kicking the door to get in, and anika cried that she couldn’t do it as she approached the window, her trembling hands gripping the ladder with blood covered fingers. she was bleeding badly from her stomach, but with reassurance from mindy and sam, she got onto the ladder and slowly started moving across it. she was about a third of the way across, and the four of you in danny’s apartment watched with wide eyes as the killer broke into the room with no one’s weight holding the dresser.
“what?” anika asked, noticing that all of you had gone silent.
“anika you need to move right now!” mindy and sam yelled, urging her to continue across the ladder. she looked back as the killer stabbed the knife into the windowsill, and grabbed hold of the ladder. anika screamed and held on for dear life as he began to shake the ladder up and down, and then from side to side; attempting to throw her off of it.
the four of you tried desperately to hold it steady, mindy in hysterics. begging the terrified to hurry across the ladder. she managed to move slightly forward and was almost close enough to reach sams outstretched hand, as she called for her to take it. the ladder shook hard as she tried to grab hold of sams hand, and the killer twisted it to side, causing anika to fall screaming to the ground below, her head slamming into the open dumpster below. mindy balled next to you, and you all stared across the alleyway at the killer, as he picked up the knife and walked out of view.

Hi hi hi I’m back with another sanny fic because I can’t stop myself 🫡
Set in the same universe as ‘nice guys throw punches’ and just unmitigated, completely indulgent fluff.
Tags: proposal (!!), engagement, conspiring siblings, family fluff, softest boys in the world
READ ON AO3
- - -
“Okay, I’m just pulling up to the house to pick up Sam,” Josie whispers into the phone, not waiting for Danny to even say hello. She has one hand on the steering wheel of her car as she pulls up out front of the Kiszka family home, peering out the window to make sure Sam isn’t waiting outside.
“Why are you whispering?” Danny whispers back, sitting in his own car a block away where he won’t be spotted. “They can’t hear you.”
“Shut it, asshole,” Josie rolls her eyes, knowing Danny will be able to hear that even over the phone. “Which one of us is taking this plan seriously?”
Danny snorts. “I really doubt anyone is taking this plan more seriously than I am, considering it was my idea and I’m about to walk myself into the proverbial lion’s den.”
“A lion’s den you’ve had your own key for since you were like, 15. I’d hardly classify your second family’s home as a lion's den.”
“You know what I mean,” Danny nearly whines, sighing. “I’m nervous, Jo.”
Josie sighs fondly, sitting back against the driver’s seat as she puts the car in park.
“I know you are,” she says gently. “But Dan, they adore you. You’ve been a fixture in the Kiszka family for over a decade - well before you and Sam ever started dating. And now you’ve been together, what? Five years?”
“Six,” Danny provides, heart fluttering.
“Right,” Josie says. “So this isn’t going to be a surprise to them. They’re going to be thrilled and they’re going to be so touched that you wanted to do this.”
Danny exhales, nodding even though he knows Josie can’t see him.
“I just -,” he swallows. “Yeah. You’re right. Thanks, Jo. And thanks for helping.”
“You’re my big brother, Danny,” Josie says, her smile obvious through the phone. “And Sam is one of my favourite people - it’s not like it’s a hardship to hang out with him, even if I have to pretend it’s for a super secret early birthday present for you.”
“You better get me something good,” Danny says, smiling.
“Oh yeah, don’t worry,” she quips. “I already pre-ordered your big pile of nothing, just have to go pick it up -”
Danny hears a door close in the background of the call, and his heart kicks in his chest.
“Oh shit, he’s coming out,” Josie whispers. “You’ve got two hours - go ask for your blessing! Love you, bye!”
Danny doesn’t even get a word in before she’s hung up. He blows out a breath, starting his car and waiting until he’s sure Sam and Josie are gone before driving up to the Kiszka family home. A break from touring and Christmas coming up means everyone is home under one roof.
Danny gets out of the car, wiping his hands on his pants and taking a steadying breath. Here goes nothing.
-
Danny knocks twice on the door before opening it, just as he’s done since he first met the Kiszka family. It’s so instinctual even though Karen constantly reminds him he doesn’t need to worry, that he’s welcome any time.
“Knock knock,” he calls out, praying his voice doesn’t betray how nervous he is. He can hear sounds coming from the living room, the odd twang of a guitar amidst lively conversation.
Karen’s head pokes around the corner and she smiles widely, immediately coming forward with arms open for a hug.
“Hi honey!” she says, pulling Danny down for a hug. “I didn’t think we’d see you today - Sammy just left.”
“I know,” Danny says, hugging Karen tightly. She’s always been so kind to him, welcoming him with open arms as a gangly teenager and never letting him go. “I actually came to see you all, if that’s okay.”
She presses a firm kiss to his cheek, patting the other one with a gentle hand.
“Of course it is, Daniel, you know that,” she gently admonishes him. She brushes a few errant snowflakes from his shoulders before leading him to the living room. “Come sit, we just made coffee.”
Everyone is seated comfortably in various spots, Jake reclined on the floor with his back against the couch, guitar in hand. Josh is folded like a pretzel in the arm chair, an obscenely large mug in one hand and a book of Mad Libs in the other (concerning, Danny thinks, because the last thing Josh Kiszka needs is a structured game for fart jokes, but he’ll worry about it later). Ronnie is sitting on the other side of the coffee table on the floor, working diligently at untangling a gnarled rope of twinkling lights.
“Hey kiddo,” Kelly says, smiling from where he’s seated on the couch. “Didn’t think we’d see you today - you want a coffee? Come sit.”
“I uh,” Danny clears his throat, wiping his palms on his pants again. God, why is he so sweaty all of a sudden? It’s snowing outside, for fuck’s sake. He’s wearing one of his favourite sweaters (re: one Karen bought him a few Christmases ago that’s covered in little knitted pine trees) and a nicer pair of pants, but he suddenly feels underdressed. “I came to talk to you guys, actually. All of you, if that’s okay.”
It seems to get their collective attention, Karen sitting with a worried expression next to Kelly and Jake setting his guitar down.
“Is everything okay?” Ronnie asks, hands stilling on the tangled lights.
“Yeah, yep,” Danny says, cracking his knuckles nervously. “It’s not - it’s good, not bad. I hope.”
“Sweetheart, why don’t you sit down?” Karen says gently, gesturing to the empty loveseat across from them all.
Danny nods, sitting.
He stands back up almost immediately, too nervous to sit still. He shifts on his feet, swallowing.
“Okay,” he says, more to himself than to the family sitting in front of him. Josh is giving him a worried look, and Jake’s gaze is steady but gentle. “Okay, yeah. So. Alright. Um.”
“Danny,” Josh says, shifting a little to sit forward. “It’s just us. What’s going on?”
Danny looks at them all, taking in the kindness and concern so evident on all of their faces. Faces he’s known for most of his life now. Faces he loves. Faces that are so reflective of the one he loves most in the world.
He nods, blowing out a breath. He makes himself sit down, resting his elbows on his knees and threading his hands together just so they’re occupied.
“You’ve all known me since I was so young,” he starts, praying his voice won’t break. “And you’ve never been anything but welcoming and kind. You gave me a second home like it was no big deal, fed me, cared for me, treated me like I was one of your own.”
Karen takes Kelly’s hand, squeezing it like she’s anticipating something.
“I want to thank you for that,” Danny says, looking at them. He’s doing his best to keep it together, but it’s getting harder by the second. “All of you. It means more to me than I could ever say, and I’m so grateful for each of you and the room you made for me in your lives. It’s a privilege that I don’t take for granted, and I want you to know that.”
“Of course we know that, Danny,” Kelly says, smiling softly. “We love you, kid.”
Danny nods, swallowing. He can feel tears burning behind his eyes, but resolutely keeps them at bay.
“I love you too, so much,” he says, and his voice wobbles a little. He clears his throat. “The respect I have for each of you and for this family is - I can’t even really put it into words. Your opinions and perspectives carry so much weight for me, and I know they do for Sam as well. You’re his world, you know? This family is everything to him, and he’s everything to me.”
“Danny -” Karen says gently, like she’s worried he’s about to fall to pieces.
He gives her a reassuring smile, laughing a little. “Sorry, I know this is kind of weird,” he says. “But I’m almost there, I swear. I just have to say this. It’s important.”
Karen nods, squeezing Kelly’s hand and giving Danny an encouraging nod. Josh, Jake, and Ronnie are still watching Danny carefully.
“I got Josie to take Sam out this morning because I wanted to do this just us,” he explains. He sits up a little, heart pounding. “To have this moment, this conversation. And - well, I guess it’s not really asking for your blessing because we all know that Sam is going to do whatever he wants regardless of what anyone says, but -”
Karen gasps, pressing her hand to her mouth.
Danny smiles, letting out a shuddering breath as he nods. He digs out a little box from his pocket, holding it in his hand.
“I’m going to ask Sam to marry me,” he says, and the words feel like a song. Like the perfect progression of chords, like a rhythm that never ends. He can’t help the nervous laugh that follows, because he just dropped his heart onto the coffee table and has to hope for the best. “And I wanted you all to know first, so that we could talk if, you know, if there was anything you were worried about.”
There’s a moment of silence, certainly no more than a few seconds, that feels like an eternity. And then it’s suddenly broken by a sound, a half hiccuped laugh punctuated by a sniffle.
It’s Jake. His chin is wobbling and there are tears filling his eyes faster than they can roll down his cheeks and he’s smiling.
“Oh, Jakey,” Josh sighs fondly with his own eyes shining, immediately getting out of the armchair to join his twin on the floor. He wraps his arm around his shoulders, tugging him close.
“Jake,” Danny breathes, his own eyes burning. He sits forward, half out of his seat. “Are you - hey, it’s okay -”
Jake shakes his head, still smiling while wiping roughly at his eyes.
“No, it’s - these are happy tears, I swear,” he croaks, voice breaking and choked with tears. “Jesus, Danny. You’ve been our brother for so long, and now it’ll be official.”
“If you’ll have me,” Danny manages to say, tears finally spilling over as he looks at them all. “If Sam will have me.”
That seems to set everyone into motion, all of them getting up and tugging Danny into a massive hug. They’re all crying, happy tears and excited laughter bubbling from the tangle of limbs they’ve made.
“Oh, this is just so special,” Karen sniffs, finally letting Danny go and wiping her eyes. “My first son-in-law!”
“Wait wait,” Ronnie says, holding her hand out. “You had a ring box. Show us!”
“Jake just stopped crying,” Danny teases, earning a whack from the younger twin. He opens the little black box, revealing the gold and black band inside. Golden letters shimmer through the silken black enamel:
ALWAYS
“You’re setting the bar way too high,” Ronnie sniffles, taking the ring out and looking at it. “He’s going to love it. God, he’s going to freak.”
“When are you going to do it?” Josh asks, taking his turn with the ring.
“Well, I was thinking tonight,” Danny says, grinning. “We’ve got a few days before Christmas, so we can celebrate and still leave room for actual Christmas stuff.”
“And then it’s your birthday,” Jake points out.
“Yeah, but that’s whatever,” Danny waves it away. Jake rolls his eyes in disagreement.
“There's supposed to be really nice snowfall tonight,” Danny continues. “So I think we’ll go for a walk. I’ll bring something warm to drink and tell Sam to bring his camera and then,” he wiggles the ring box.
Karen claps her hands together, looking at Kelly. “We can have everyone over tonight,” she says excitedly. “Danny, your family knows, right?”
Danny laughs, her excitement endearing. “They know, yeah.”
“Okay, oh my god,” she says, half spinning on the spot looking for her phone. “Kelly, call Dan and Lori, tell them we’re coming over. We can get everything ready there and then bring it back here so Sam doesn’t suspect anything. We’ll get champagne and snacks and when the boys get back we can surprise Sam and celebrate!”
“Mama,” Josh laughs, reaching out and grabbing her shoulders. “Maybe check with Danny and see if that’s something he wants as part of the night.”
Karen immediately presses her hand to her mouth, turning and grabbing Danny’s hands.
“Oh, of course,” she says. “I’m so sorry, honey! I’m just excited. But whatever you want, if you want the night to yourselves -”
Danny shakes his head, pulling her in for a hug.
“That all sounds amazing,” he insists. “Having everyone together would be perfect.”
Karen claps, nearly jumping up and down on the spot. She turns, looking at her family.
“Alright, Kiszkas. We have work to do!”
-
By the time Danny manages to wrangle Sam out of the house for an evening walk, the sun is beginning to set. They’d enjoyed dinner just the two of them, the house conveniently empty.
“Alright, I’ll admit it,” Sam says, looking through the lens of his camera. “You were right. The light is really nice - god damned winter golden hour shit.”
Danny whistles. “Wow, I might have to write that down. You admitted I was right about something.”
“I’m known for my benevolence.”
“Uh huh,” Danny laughs, holding out a hand for Sam to take. It’s cold, but not so cold that it’s miserable to be outside. They’re bundled up, noses turning pink and breath visible, but the way the setting sun reflects off the snow makes it all worth it.
“Let’s go this way,” Danny says, leading Sam down the path to the nearby park. “Josie was telling me they strung up a bunch of twinkling lights over the bridge.”
“Sounds like you’re trying to put the moves on me, Wagner,” Sam wiggles his eyebrows. “Are you trying to romance me? Woo me? I’m a tough sell, you know.”
Danny snorts. “Oh believe me, I know. You make me work for it.”
“Yeah, but worth the effort,” Sam grins, swinging their hands. They talk about everything and nothing, Sam artfully dodging questions about what he did during the day, thinking he’s keeping a birthday surprise for Danny a secret.
It’s incredibly endearing, and it eases the nerves fluttering in Danny’s stomach.
“Oh wow, that’s pretty,” Sam says, taking his hand back from Danny to snap a photo of the snow dusted park bridge. It’s small, arching pleasantly over a now frozen pond, and twinkling golden lights are strung from the trees on either side and through the railings.
“Here,” Danny says, holding his hand out for the camera. “Go stand on the bridge, I want to take a picture of you.”
“You have a million pictures of me,” Sam says, but hands it over as he walks onto the bridge, standing in the middle.
“Yeah, but this one is special,” Danny murmurs, holding the camera up to his eye. Sam is smiling widely, the glowing sun behind Danny lighting him just enough to paint him gold.
Once he takes it, he moves to join Sam on the bridge, thankful they have the park to themselves in the quiet evening.
“C’mere,” he says, pulling Sam close and pressing their cheeks together. He holds the camera out, hoping it’s at least a little in focus as he takes the selfie.
“That’s what front facing phone cameras are for, grandpa,” Sam teases, still smiling.
“Yeah, yeah,” Danny says. He swallows, heart beating a million miles a minute. “Hey, do me a favour?”
“Nope,” Sam says immediately, popping the p as he starts fiddling with his lens cap.
Danny rolls his eyes, because of course.
“Just -,” he grabs Sam by the shoulders, turning him to face the opposite way, his back to Danny.
“Don’t manhandle me, Daniel -“
“I have a surprise for you, you brat,” Danny laughs. “Shut up and let me do it.”
Sam makes a delighted noise. “Well in that case, carry on.”
“Thanks,” Danny says drily.
The sun is below the horizon now, stars just starting to twinkle overhead. The lights in the trees and on the bridge are casting everything in the golden glow and - just as Danny takes a deep breath - big, fluffy snowflakes start to fall.
He takes the ring box out of his jacket pocket, and lowers himself to one knee. He doesn’t feel the cold - every bone in his body, every nerve ending, every cell, every bit of stardust he’s made of is focused solely on Sam.
“Okay,” Danny says, thankful his voice comes out steady as he opens the box. “You can turn around now.”
Sam turns around, and it takes him a split second to realize Danny isn’t standing. His hands come up to his heart so fast that it almost looks like it hurts.
“Are you fucking serious,” he blurts.
Danny laughs, head thrown back. It’s the most Sam reaction he could’ve hoped for.
“Yeah, Sammy,” Danny says softly, smiling up at him. He can feel the tears in his eyes, but he couldn’t care less. “I’m serious. You have to let me say what I want to say, alright?”
For once - ever, maybe - Sam says nothing, simply nodding, hands over his heart like he’s trying to keep it in his chest.
“Shit,” Danny laughs, wiping at his eyes. “Was really hoping I’d keep it together.”
“You’re doing great,” Sam nearly whispers, the tremble in his voice so painfully sweet that it brings fresh tears to Danny’s eyes.
Danny takes a steadying breath, looking up at Sam.
“Sam,” he starts, no longer fighting the emotion in his voice. “You’ve been my best friend for what feels like my whole life, and if I’m honest, I think I’ve loved you for just as long. You push me, you challenge me, you comfort me, and you understand me like no one else in the world. Every day that I wake up next to you feels like I’ve won the fucking lottery.”
“Even when I steal the blankets?” Sam asks, tears running unchecked down his cheeks.
“Yeah,” Danny laughs, sniffling. “Even when you steal the blankets. Sometimes I think about what life would be like if we hadn’t found each other, if fate or the universe or god or whatever hadn’t brought us together. And… I can’t see it. Not because it’s too painful to imagine, but because I know that there’s no world, no universe, no reality where there’s a me without you. There’s no existence where there’s a Daniel Wagner without a Samuel Kiszka to follow anywhere and everywhere. And -“
He has to take a second to wipe his eyes and take a breath, voice breaking.
“And that makes me feel like I could take on the world, Sam,” he whispers. “It makes me feel unstoppable. Knowing I have you next to me, in my corner and by my side, it makes me feel like there’s nothing I couldn’t do.”
He reaches out and tugs one of Sam’s hands down, pressing his lips to the cold skin of his knuckles.
“You make me so fucking happy, Sam,” he says. “And if you’ll let me, I want to spend the rest of my life doing everything I can to make you feel the same way. Will you marry me?”
There's a long moment of silence, and then before Danny even registers that the other man has moved, his back is hitting the snow and he has his arms full of Sam Kiszka.
“Yes!” Sam cries, the sound muffled by Danny’s hair and jacket and probably a mouthful of snow. He’s pressing furious kisses to Danny’s neck, then his jaw, and then all over his face, each punctuated by another ‘yes!’.
Sam sits up, straddling Danny’s lap, hair flying wild and snowflakes kissing his eyelashes.
“I’m making Daniel Wagner my husband!” He whoops, so loud that Danny can’t help but laugh. He rests his hands on Sam’s thighs, content to stare up at him for as long as he can.
Sam looks like an angel, cheeks flushed with cold and lashes still damp with joyous tears. Danny takes Sam’s left hand, setting the ring box on his own chest to pull the gold band out.
“There,” he says, sliding the band onto Sam’s ring finger. “Official.”
Sam lifts his hand, looking at the band. His smile is radiant, eyes shining.
“Always,” he reads aloud. He leans down, holding Danny’s jaw with his left hand as he brushes their noses together. “Promise?”
Danny smiles. “Promise.”
-
“Shh, they’re coming!” Ronnie hisses, nearly skidding on the floor as she runs to hide behind the couch.
All the lights are out in the Kiszka home, everyone tucked behind various pieces of furniture to conceal themselves from view. Strung over the fireplace is a massive banner, lovingly but hastily painted with hearts and ‘CONGRATULATIONS DANNY AND SAM’.
“Man, this will be awkward if Sam said no,” Josie remarks, yelping when Lori pinches her side in reprimand.
The sound of a key turning in the lock makes everyone quiet down, the door opening.
Sam is tapping his boots against the hallway mat, shaking off the snow. “Daniel, if we still have the house to ourselves then I’m about to give you the ride of your life -“
Danny’s eyes go wide, cheeks flushing. He knows everyone is within earshot. “Sam -“
“SURPRISE!”
The lights turn on and everyone pops up from behind couches and bookshelves. Sam nearly jumps out of his skin, screaming and instinctively grabbing for Danny.
“Thank god we interrupted that sentence,” Josh quips, blowing into a paper party horn. Danny looks up at the ceiling, shaking his head with a grin.
“Well?!” Karen asks, bouncing on the spot.
Sam doesn’t move for a long moment, face impressively passive.
Danny pinches him and Sam breaks into a wide grin, holding up his hand. The gold band is there, a perfect fit.
“We’re engaged!” He hollers, immediately kicking off his shoes and jumping into the chaos of family, everyone shouting in excitement and piling in for hugs.
Danny grins, taking off his jacket and shoes, letting himself savour the view for just a moment before joining the fray.
“I like the banner,” he says once he’s exchanged hugs and kisses with everyone, putting his arm around Sam. Around his fiancé.
“Let’s just say there was a battle of wills to end up where we are now,” Dan says, giving his son a rueful smile.
“I maintain ‘same penis forever’ is a great engagement banner,” Josh says, somehow now in possession of a paper party hat that says ‘bridesmaid’ on it.
“It is,” Jake agrees.
“Alright,” Karen claps her hands, ignoring the twins. “Time for a toast!”
Kelly pops a bottle of champagne, filling glasses as everyone passes them around. There’s music playing in the background, the fireplace lit, the Christmas tree twinkling in the corner. Danny’s pretty sure he’s never been happier in his life.
He pulls Sam close, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
“We’ve all been family for so long,” Dan says, holding up his glass. “But it feels like magic to welcome you officially into the family tonight, Sam. We couldn’t ask for anything more in a son in law, and couldn’t ask for anyone better for Danny. We love you.”
Danny presses his face into Sam’s hair, trying to keep more tears at bay, but it’s useless. He’s too happy, too fucking grateful for this moment.
“Thank you, Dan,” Sam says, eyes shining.
“And to our gentle giant,” Kelly says, raising his glass. “Danny, it’s our honour to officially welcome you to our family. You’ve been a brother to Jake and Josh since you were just a kid, but to Sam you were always more - his lighthouse, his rock. You make each other better, and we are so proud of you both.”
“To Sam and Danny,” Jake calls, lifting his glass.
“To Sam and Danny!”
The clink of glasses sounds like ringing bells as Danny leans down to kiss Sam properly, smiling against his lips.
“To us,” he whispers.
“Hell yeah,” Sam grins. “Always, baby.”

will ALWAYS stand for danny aarons slander. guy plays fifa all day and cba to take care of a dog? and says wallahi when he doesn’t mean it??
HONESTLY. Danny's acc litr a microcosm for the entire population of 12 y/o boys' mentality. Him n Tennessee's thing, throwing his ex under the bus, that REALLY set me off initially, and now this is j so bad too...
Cuz like, i love this trope of YouTubers who are in relationships and are pretty certain they wanna stay together, but aren't ready to have kids yet - so their next stage of commitment is getting a dog.
Obvi, that's not related to Danny bc Danny got Silas (dog) b4 getting w Tennessee. But there's j such a cuteness about YouTubers who love their pets n allat. I mean, Simon n Mushu literally have me mentally smiling at my screen when i see those miniminter stories of them together.
But Danny's acc so foul for being down to even joke abt putting a dog down icl - i was mortified ab the thought of putting a guinea pig down last summer when it came to it - but the fact bro's so chill w talking ab that w a dog? Especially when it's 15k to do repairs, as if that's gonna ruin his life? If he's able to retire his dad, I don't think fixing his mum's garden will make his pockets hurt that much :/
That felt very judgemental. tbf, gotta acknowledge that he is ultimately the one who knows what's best for that dog, n it did sound like he was joking ab putting Silas down... So as long as that dog stays alive and in a loving home i suppose i can't complain as a viewer that isn't all that bothered if we're honest.
BUT THE WALLAHI THING.
Right, i saw a comment on that last post of some1 saying that Danny said Wallahi and then lied to Tennessee ab something? That's fucking vile. Just because bro's not part of a religion doesn't mean u can just disrespect integral parts of their teachings???? I mean shit, if you're not a part of the religion, why are you even involving yourself in it so much, especially trying to use it as a funny bit?
Might be a bit snowflake-y from me but I'm not Muslim myself, i j find his usage of the religion rly weird since it feels like he's using it for jokes and content, which realistically isn't what a religion is meant for 😀

hihi!!!
what do you think of an asian danny (comics) ? i know we have pei (whom i adore) but how do you think danny as a character would change? (personally i feel like danny would feel less isolated in kun lun, maybe only dimensional differences, but would face more racism back in america. i think white danny is a better concept, to be torn in half between your nature(america) vs nurture(kun lun) yknow)
<3
Hihi! Thank you for asking!
A few key points, just to start off:
I am not Asian myself, therefore I feel like my opinion on this topic doesn't really matter. (I also don't work for Marvel, so my opinion really doesn't matter.)
At the end of the day, this conversation comes down to the desire for more and better Asian representation across the Marvel Universe, which is obviously something we should all want.
Okay, now, on to the in-universe, Danny-specific stuff:
I would be perfectly happy with an Asian Danny, and I understand the arguments for making that change. I don't personally feel like it's a necessary change in this case, but I do get it, and I do think that the introduction of the Iron Fist legacy was very important; back when he was the first and only person to have defeated Shou-Lao, it was certainly much more uncomfortable that he was an outsider. (I will also point out that the feeling of being pulled in two directions--America and K'un-Lun--is something that he would still experience if he were Asian. Probably even moreso due, as you mentioned, to anti-Asian racism and anti-immigrant sentiments in the US.)
For me, the question is more about whether Danny should be of K'un-Lun descent specifically. Just making him Asian wouldn't make him not an outsider there, and that was the main cause of his alienation as a child. The thing that baffled me about Lin Lie being chosen as the next Iron Fist to presumably "fix" the "problem" of Danny's non-native status was that Lin isn't from K'un-Lun either. He's just as much of an outworlder as Danny, and at least Danny grew up in the city and had family there. (And obviously, that's not even touching on the fact that we already had Pei, who was born K'un-Lun.)
Tumblr media
Tucos: "You dare aspire to join the ranks of the immortals of K'un-Lun--!?!" Danny: "I dare nothing, Tucos--I merely am. If I am Iron Fist, it is because the gods--thru Yu-Ti--will it so...and if I become an immortal--it is because they will that as well!" Merrin: "Is that so, outworlder--? How pleasant to see an Earther mortal adopt our ways so...fervently." Iron Fist vol. 1 #2 by Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Michele W., F. Chiarmonte, and Joe Rosen
Tumblr media
Kheng: "Stupid orphan couldn't stop a bunch of dogs from turning his mother into breakfast...how were you ever going to face an immortal?" Iron Fist: The Living Weapon #3 by Kaare Kyle Andrews and Joe Caramagna
Tumblr media
Yang Yi: "The next Iron Fist should have been one of us. Any of us--even Mei Min. It should have been me." Lin: "I--I didn't call Shou-Lao to me on purpose." Yang Yi: "That's even worse! You stole something that belongs to K'un-Lun and you don't even know its worth. The last Iron Fist was an outsider. So was the one before him. Special enough that the dragon chose them...or callous enough to rip its heart out without respect." Iron Fist vol. 6 #2 by Alyssa Wong, Michael Yg, Sean Chen, Victor Olazaba, and Jay David Ramos
If Danny had been Asian but not from K'un-Lun, the bullying might have focused less on his appearance (he gets called "Snow Pea" and "Snowflake" in Living Weapon), but he still would have been an outsider, an Earther mortal freak, and his bullies would still have been angry that he became the Iron Fist instead of them. If Danny had been of K'un-Lun descent...honestly, I still think he would have struggled to fit in, since he wasn't raised in the culture. Wendell as we know him didn't teach Danny anything about K'un-Lun, and unless we considered the idea of changing Wendell's personality or past experiences, I can imagine that would still be the case if he had blood ties to the city. It would still have been something Wendell spent most of Danny's life trying to put behind him, and Danny would still have been arriving massively traumatized, and even with the knowledge that his ancestors had been from K'un-Lun, I'm not sure how much that would have fixed for him, or for his peers' perception of him. This is a dimension that is extremely difficult to access, and thus a very insular society. They don't get a lot of outworlders, regardless of their race or ancestry.
For the record, it would be easy to give Danny blood ties to K'un-Lun without changing a single thing about his backstory, due to the simple fact that we have no idea where Wendell came from. He was just some random orphan Orson stumbled upon in the Himalayas. It would be very easy for a writer to do a story arc in which Danny found out that his father (possibly even unbeknownst to Wendell) was born in K'un-Lun. Rather than retconning Danny's backstory to make him aware of this from the beginning, I feel like it would be a more interesting approach to have Danny discover a blood connection later on, in the present day. I am always a big fan of explorations of Danny's relationship to K'un-Lun, and this would certainly present new territory in that regard.
Ultimately, though, I agree with you in that I don't feel like this change is needed, or even that it would change much about Danny's character or journey (which I suppose could be an argument either for or against). He would still be that same guy caught between two worlds and not fully at home in either. My personal feeling is that I would rather see characters like Colleen Wing, Pei, Sparrow, Miranda...heck, even Steel Serpent...given more of a spotlight. As I mentioned at the top, what's most important is having strong Asian representation throughout the Marvel Universe, and there are a ton of fantastic, under-used Asian characters within the Iron Fist sphere who I hate to see buried under ongoing debates about this one guy's ethnicity, especially when those debates too often seem to contain incorrect information from people who haven't actually read many of the comics.
Again, thanks for the question! Obviously, this is a very layered and sensitive topic, and having lived through the heated conversations surrounding the Netflix show, it's something that is always on my mind.

Hi! I was that corinthiel anon from before and i since i got your permission here are some headcanons i have for them:
Theirs is a long slow burn/office romance/psychological horror/fantasy epic that takes many mini get togethers/break ups and self discoveries until they an official couple
Early on in Danny’s reign, he isn’t quite accustomed to his powers and thus many hijinks/misadventures ensue. Also he pushes himself too hard and can fall into this ‘torpor-like’ state where he passes out and becomes mostly unresponsive to regain energy. The first time it happens Cori panics and refuses to let anyone else carry him back to the castle to recover, growling at anyone who comes close. The Dreaming as a whole still works, but everything ‘slows’ down and dreamkin feel kinda tired themselves.
Tons of roleplay in their more sensual scenarios, letting them both play out narratives that suit their respective fantasies and kinks.
I have tons others but I’ve clogged your asks enough right now, ahah. Of course I’d love to hear if you have anything else to add or your own headcanons!
@pickurpoisons-blog These hc are so good I want to devour them!!!
I especially adore this one
He pushes himself too hard and can fall into this ‘torpor-like’ state where he passes out and becomes mostly unresponsive to regain energy. The first time it happens Cori panics and refuses to let anyone else carry him back to the castle to recover, growling at anyone who comes close. The Dreaming as a whole still works, but everything ‘slows’ down and dreamkin feel kinda tired themselves.
It's so beautiful and has something almost fairytale-like to imagine the Corinthian watching over Daniel's body as he recovers his strength. The Dreaming is covered in snow, and it's cold, but not a cruel cold: it's a gentle winter that happens whenever this torpor descends on the King of Dreams. Yes, everything is slower and sleepy: Mervyn naps in a corner of the throne room instead of putting up the curtains, Lucien has to resort to his special supply of black tea to stay awake, Cain is too sleepy to inflict the punishment that Abel deserves, and Matthew plays with other ravens with snowflakes. Only the Corinthian remains alert and awake, in the farthest and most inaccessible room of the palace, and to make his Lord's rest even safer he creates a complicated tangle of corridors and rooms, and access to Dream's private chambers becomes a labyrinth of which the Nightmare alone knows the right way. No one can approach Daniel, unless the Corinthian wants to. Every time he awaits his King's awakening and does not let even light disturb his rest: silently, he gently brush Daniel's cheek with his fingers, in a caress more delicate and discreet than a whisper. In the absolute darkness of the room, the body of his beloved appears to the Corinthian as white and precious as a pearl....
....but I also imagine a more funny situation, where Daniel suddenly falls asleep in the most inaccessible and dangerous places of the kingdom, and the Corinthian punctually has to go and retrieve him amidst a thousand difficulties :D
* Cori in the middle of a nightmare, gutting a poor dreamer *
Matthew: Boss is asleep again! The Corinthian: the fu…where this time?! Matthew: in the Box of Nightmares
* unspeakable curses and swearing as he runs off to retrieve his Dream *
The first time it happens Cori panics and refuses to let anyone else carry him back to the castle to recover, growling at anyone who comes close.
Cori bringing Daniel in bridal style to the palace? You made my Monday radiant <3 One of my most cherished fantasies is to imagine:
the Corinthian carrying Daniel in bridal style, both handsome and elegant as in a Pre-Raphaelite painting or Daniel carrying the Corinthian in bridal style, both in their gigerian nightmare form (still beautiful and elegant....in their own way :D)
Tons of roleplay in their more sensual scenarios, letting them both play out narratives that suit their respective fantasies and kinks.
Ohohoh, we're on the same page! One of my favorite hc's is that often in their intimacy they both like to 'pretend' to be human and that playing 'being human' is one of the things that they enjoy the most: Daniel specially creates eyes for the Corinthian for the sensual and perverse pleasure of extracting and devouring them, just as his lover taught him (which excites the Corinthian terribly, by the way). I am working on a story about this, I hope to finish soon ^^
Another thing that excites both is when between the two of them it's only Daniel who pretends to be human, almost as if they both take pleasure in a sort of reversal of roles in which it's the Corinthian, as a Nightmare, who has more power and therefore Daniel, as a 'human', finds himself at the absolute mercy of his lover. The Corinthian savors the pleasure of having total control, Daniel the pleasure of having none.
Theirs is a long slow burn/office romance/psychological horror/fantasy epic that takes many mini get togethers/break ups and self discoveries until they an official couple
Ahhh!!! but now I'm curious: how do you think it all started? :)

Snaked
Summary:
/snaked/ 1) To get stabbed in the back or be generally screwed over by someone 2) Stole or stolen. 1. That fucker just snaked me. / I thought he could be trusted but he snaked me. 2. I just snaked that dude's wallet.
Danny and Sam learn Tucker has a fear of snakes. He also happens to steal Danny's hard earned prize. Oh, and Danny turns into a dragon.
based on @bellsandmischief's prompt "Danny and friends are yeeted via portal into a medieval/mythical universe, and now have to defeat a Hydra (or other mythical beast) to get the "key" to get home."
Ao3 Link
“Hark! Wake the girlies from their sleep, there’s a beast afoot!”
“That’s not how it goes,” Sam said. “And get off of there before you make it notice us.”
“So sue me, I haven’t read the book,” Danny grumbled, floating to the ground. “And I was just trying to lighten things up.”
“And while I appreciate that, how about we lighten things up after we get Tucker back from the massive hydra?”
“Seconded!” yelled a tiny voice in Danny’s ear. He winced and turned down the volume of the Fenton Phones.
“Well, it’s not like he’s in any real danger at the moment, and you were starting to get a permanent scowl on your face.”
“I’ll put a permanent scowl on your face.”
“Guys, can we please do this later?! I think the hydra’s trying to ask me out and I don’t know how to say no without getting eaten!”
Danny hummed, leaning back against the massive stone wall. “Try—” He made the sound of a train whistle, followed by shredded paper.
“Ow! Did you have to say that so loud?”
“Wasn’t any louder than your yelling earlier.”
“Hey, Danny,”—Sam squinted at him—“what exactly did you say?”
“Why?”
“Because it sounded like ‘you have faces only a mother snake could love’.”
Danny clicked his tongue. Damn Sam and her growing knowledge of Ghost Speak.
“I’m not saying that!” Tucker screeched. “That’s like a guaranteed ticket to its stomach!”
Danny put a hand to his chin. “I think it’d be ‘stomachs’, plural. Since it’s got a bunch of heads it probably has—”
“Not helping!” Tucker yelled.
“Ugh, fine, fine. I’ll drop it.” He craned his neck up to watch the massive green hydra above them, Tucker sat atop one of its yellow scaled heads while the others dote over him. “How’d you even get this thing to want you so bad? Did your stinky cologne finally work on someone?”
“Okay, A) it’s not stinky it’s funky fresh, and, B) I. Don’t. Know!” he wailed.
“Have you found the gem, at least?” Sam asked.
“Well, I would have if I wasn’t preoccupied with NOT GETTING EATEN!” Danny put a hand over his eyes, squinting through the sunlight. It looked like one of the heads licked Tucker. He heard him shudder. “Eww, gross.”
“You’ve been up there that long and you still haven’t found it? Amateur.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, have you ever been held hostage by a hydra before? Hmm?” Sam looked like she was about to answer, but Tucker barely gave pause. “I didn’t think so. So how about we trust the current expert on hydra kidnappings and believe him when he says THIS IS TERRIFYING!”
“I still don’t think it exists,” Danny said with a shrug. “I mean it’s way too good to be true.”
“Well, you can go back to the castle and ask the stuck up king again, but I think he’d just start yelling about cutting off your head for coming back empty handed.”
“Yeah, I’m not gonna do that. Especially not when my powers are still messed up from that portal.” Danny held open his palm imagining a fiery blast of ectoplasm appearing. There was a little puff of smoke followed by a fart sound. “But neither of you find it weird that when we asked if they knew any ghosts or magic that could get us home, they said ‘hey, the hydra’s got this shiny green rock, maybe that could help’ and shoved us at it?”
“Obviously it’s suspicious, but we don’t exactly have any other leads here!”
“Oh, c’mon Tuck, I thought you were into monsters and stuff,” Danny said, trying for his ice next, but ending up with a single snowflake. It quickly melted in his palm.
“I am a strict werewolf lover, thank you very much!”
“I don’t know if ‘lover’ is the right term—”
“I’m never letting you download MCR songs on my PDA ever again.”
“Hey now, no need to be unreasonable. We’ve got a plan to get you down and everything,” she said. She turned off her Fenton Phone then turned to say, “I can’t afford to lose my battle music. We need to think of a plan.”
“I can still hear you through Danny’s mic!”
Danny sighed. “I’ve been trying to think of stuff, but without my powers working—and since those cheapskates from the castle wouldn’t give us any weapons—I don’t really have any ideas.”
“Damn, none of your powers work?”
“I’ve been cycling through them, but yeah. Nothing except flight.” Danny picked up a hefty rock, examining it before holding it up. “You think I could just fly up and dump a bunch of stuff on it and hope to kill it? Maybe use a sharp stick to cut off its heads?”
Sam made a face of disgust. “We’re not killing it. We’re better than that.” She shook her head. “Besides, hydras in Greek mythology grow two new heads for every head cut off. Or something like that.”
He gasped. “You? Not sure about creepy monster mythology??”
Sam smacked his arm. “It’s been a while since I read my big book on myths, okay? Shut up.”
“Still about to be eaten here!”
They both looked up. Saw a few of the heads rubbing their cheeks against him. Looked down.
“You think his fear of snakes is new?”
“Maybe. Though it could just be a fear of giant snakes.” Danny hummed. “Probably new either way though. Also, we should probably get him down before he faints or something.”
Sam sighed. “It’s a shame we can’t just ask it to give us Tucker back.” She paused. “And the gem.”
Something pulsed in Danny’s chest. He rubbed at it. “Huh. That’s new.”
“What? Are your powers working again?”
“Something like that, I think.” He opened and closed his hands a few times, feeling the bones shift at his command. He smirked. “Oh yeah, this’ll work.”
Danny closed his eyes, imagining the massive creature in his head. Thought of changing, shifting, becoming.
“Holy FUCK! Sam, what is he doing?!”
“I don’t know! Maybe he’s allergic to something here?!”
“Quiet,” he growled, voice much deeper than before. “Need to. Concentrate.”
Danny felt himself grow taller, longer, stronger. He felt something tough and scratchy sprout from his skin, felt his nails growing longer and sharper, felt two little sharp things poke out of his forehead. His bones restructured themselves until he was forced forwards onto his hands and feet. It wasn’t exactly pleasant, but he was grateful it wasn’t painful either.
Or, at least, it wasn’t until he felt something explode outward from his back. He yelled—roared, [That fucking hurt!]
He blinked his eyes open and found himself face-to-face—er, faces—with the hydra. A trembling Tucker was sitting atop one of the heads, hands desperately gripping onto one of the thick horns protruding out from the back of the head.
“If he’s allergic to something then why did he turn into a dragon?!”
[Because I didn’t want the headaches that would come with having 7 extra brains, obviously,] he said. Sam and Tucker continued to bicker as if he hadn’t said a word. [And now they’re not listening to me, great.]
[It’s a simple hivemind,] a higher pitched voice said, scoffing. [And of course humans can’t hear our mother tongue.] Danny looked around for the source of the voice. But there was no one here other than the three of them.
[Hello? I’m over here.] He followed the voice to—[Honestly, youth these days are so melodramatic.]
The hydra. The very cuddly hydra that liked Tucker for some reason. Could talk this whole time?
[Why didn’t you say anything before?]
[I believe I just explained humans can’t hear our mother tongue.] Each of the heads sniffed in unison. [I’ve been speaking the whole time.]
[Well, then how can I understand you now?]
It rolled all 8 pairs of eyes. [Look for yourself.]
Danny looked down. His eyes widened. [Holy shit.]
From head to toe—head to paw? Whatever—Danny was covered in dark black scales, with a small patch of white ones on his chest. His hands and—he craned his neck back—yup, his feet too, were turned into huge scaly paws with large white claws. He turned in place and curved his neck around to look over his shoulder. There were big leathery wings too, the joints covered in scales, but the inner parts a bright green colour.
He tried to imagine flapping them, and they actually moved. Though it was more of an awkward flailing that hit his face.
Now that he’d paused to notice all the changes in his body though, he could feel two identical weights on his head. When he reached a paw upwards, he felt large horns attached to his forehead.
Something felt… off though.
[Shouldn’t I have a tail or something? I thought all dragons had tails. Or, at least, all the cool ones anyway.]
The hydra snickered. [Oh, you’ve got a tail alright.]
Danny turned further to try and catch sight of it. [Where? I can’t see anything.]
[It’s a little cottontail. The ones you would see on a small prey animal.] Like a rabbit? Ugh. Of course a new ghost power wouldn’t work right on the first try. He should’ve figured.
“Hey, Danny! If you can hear me, I think you need to grab Tucker, he doesn’t sound too hot!” Sam’s tiny voice yelled up at him. He couldn’t completely make out what she was saying, but he did hear something about Tucker and the guy was looking a lot wobblier on his perch on the hydra. He better hurry up.
[Uh, hey, listen hydra guy, we’re just trying to get home. So do you think we could borrow your rock for a little while?]
[Rock?] The hydra tilted all of its heads to the right. Well, 7 of its heads. It thankfully didn’t move the head holding Tucker.
[The magic glowing gem.]
[That? Pah, you can take it.] The hydra started to make a gagging noise from one of its mouths and spat out a saliva coated glowing gem on the ground.
[Cool cool,] He lifted a paw to point at Tucker. [I’m also gonna need my friend back.]
The hydra pressed closer to Tucker, the unoccupied 7 heads falling into a circle around him. [Why? I’d take good care of him. You can leave him with me.]
Danny didn’t like the way it talked about Tucker like a pet. He changed tactics. [Why are you so hung up on Tucker anyway? Is it his smell, or…?]
[Oh heavens, no,] it said. [This human’s red top and yellow scales remind me of my sister. It’s been ages since I’ve seen her.] It bumped one of its heads into Tucker’s chest, sticking a forked tongue out to lick the air. Tucker froze the moment its jaw opened and when the tongue appeared he was out like a light. He started to fall backwards, Danny jolting up to catch him, but the hydra beat him to it, quickly wrapping around Tucker’s torso to hold him up.
[See?] it said. [I’m great at this.] Its head tightened around him. [Now leave us alone.]
[Nah, I think it’s time you took a little trip.] Danny lunged forward, turning just as he ran past and flaring his wings. He meant to sweep the hydra’s legs out from under it, but instead ended up falling over his new and unfamiliar limbs, his wings getting terribly bent and, at one point, stepped on. It still got the job done, but—[God FUCK that hurt, jesus CHRIST.]
“Tucker!” Sam yelled. Danny jerked his head around, watching Tucker fall and start to get dangerously close to the ground. He couldn’t stretch out his wings in time and his paws were tipped with claws! How was he supposed to—?!
An idea hit him.
Swiftly, he scrambled backwards and stuck his ass straight into the air, hoping he was right.
He felt a small weight land on his backside, on fur instead of scales. Danny breathed a sigh of relief.
Carefully, he lowered himself to the ground, waiting until Sam was close enough to grab Tucker before sitting down completely.
[That was a little too close for comfort,] he said with a laugh. [We should probably grab the gem and get out of here.]
[You will regret doing that, little dragon.]
The hydra stood once more, all of its eyes thinned to slits and their yellow scales fluttering up as if it was a cat with raised hackles.
[I’m so rattled,] Danny said as he moved to stand above his friends. [Ha! Snake pun!] He looked down to watch for Sam’s reaction before remembering his current state of being. Damn. [Why is it that when I’m finally able to come up with good puns in this dimension, you guys can’t hear them?] he grumbled. Sam, of course, had no response for him.
[I am no simple snake,] the hydra hissed. [At worst I am most similar to a Greater Lizard!]
[Either way, Tucker’s more of a wolf guy.] Danny growled, [So how about you beat it before I get serious.]
[You really expect me to believe you can beat me? When you fell over your own front paws while taking the human back from me?] The hydra laughed, one head laughing a single time, followed by another and another. [I’d like to see you try.] Each of its mouths opened in unison, eight balls of crackling electricity growing bigger and bigger in their jaws.
Danny sighed. It was always electricity.
It did give him an idea though.
He opened his own mouth and concentrated on the feeling of his ice powers. As soon as he felt it crawl up his throat, he blasted them outwards. Small uneven balls of ice pelted the hydra, hitting noses, eyes, horns, and, eventually, one of those glowing balls of electric energy.
It exploded in the mouth of one of the heads and it roared, out of sync with the other heads that were still charging. It knocked into the two other heads on either side of it and the head on the right accidentally let off its charge, setting the ground at its feet on fire.
The hydra heads kept knocking into other heads and setting off their electric charges too. Also, the bottom half of the hydra was jumping around, trying to avoid the fire. It was quite a sight.
Eventually, the hydra ended up within arm’s reach of Danny. He grinned.
[You know, you’re a pretty fun guy. Hissssterical, even.] He stood up on his hind legs. [But it’s time for my fist to give you a little goodnight hiss.] He pulled back his hand and punched one of the middle heads, the one that had been constricting around Tucker earlier.
The Hydra went down with a cry of pain. It twitched a little, but after a while it thankfully didn’t get up again.
Danny looked down at his friends.
Now how to change back. Hmm—
As if responding to his thoughts, his body started to shed its scales and shrink down. He felt the wings on his back start to disappear, followed closely by his other draconic traits.
By the time he’d turned by into his regular halfa self, Tucker was awake and sitting on the grass looking drained. Sam was standing right behind him, practically holding him up with her legs as she examined the gem.
When he looked up at her, she tossed the gem to him. “I think it works on ectoplasm. Give it some juice.”
Danny nodded. “Sure thing.” He tried again to create a ball of ectoplasm in his palms, smiling when he found his powers working like normal. “Huh, guess the dragification shook whatever was blocking my powers loose.”
“So, what the hell was that all about anyway?” Sam asked. “The becoming a dragon thing.”
Danny shrugged. “It wasn’t exactly what I was going for, but I needed to get big enough to grab Tucker and probably beat the thing up, then I felt my bones shifting—no, no I promise it’s not as bad as it sounds—anyway I just ‘thought big’ and then something funky in my chest just started making me change.”
“We’re gonna circle back to that bone thing.” Sam glared at him. “But, I mean, it was a pretty good first try for turning into a dragon.”
“A good try for a dragon, yeah, but I was just trying to make myself bigger. I didn’t mean to do the whole shapeshifting into a huge mythological creature thing.” He grinned. “It was pretty cool though.”
“Very cool,” Tucker said. “Very big fan of the tail. That thing was a real lifesaver. Great for saving someone a hare’s breadth from death.”
“Wow, beating Danny to making the first pun in a new dimension? I’m impressed, Tuck,” Sam said.
“What the—he did not. I made a pun earlier! Several!”
“You mean when we couldn’t understand a thing you were saying and were otherwise preoccupied with the hydra?” Sam asked. “And you just happened to remember this now?”
“Well, when you put it like that it sounds bad, but it’s true!” he insisted. “I made a snake pun!”
“Sssssure you did, Danny.” If he wasn’t concentrating on the gem, he would so punch Tucker right now.
Sam leaned down to give Tucker a fist bump. “Nice.”
“Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here until Danny hurries his ass up and makes a portal home.”
“I hate you guys,” Danny grumbled.

There's h50 ask game: https://www.tumblr.com/ilikemcdanno/683611944541995008/h50-ask-game-based-off-of-this-who-is-your
and I was tagged by @adelaydebclouds (thank you, babe! ❤️) She chose 5, 9 and 21 for me.
5. What is a popular fan interpretation that you don’t like?
Popular? 🤔 Huh, I check our fandom tags almost every day so it's not that I live under a rock but... I just see many headcanons here and there - just this. If you mean what I saw here more than few times, well, then I can think about some examples.
But it's not that I don't like other people's headcanons - I respect them ❤️ and I'm excited when people share their thoughts with me (and while I'm reading f.e. fics I'm only focused on author's vision and as empath I can feel/try to understand their headcanon even if sometimes it's not what I usually think about characters/agree with). It's just about me having different feelings, just that.
So, speaking about different feelings. Sometimes I really try but just can't see something. Well, life, it happens. There's f.e. Doris' case and her relationship with Danny and Cath (I can't see "Doris doesn't like Danno, she prefers Cath", sorry ❤️). There's f.e. Danny's and Steve's love life/orientation (I share "they're not that straight" 😉 with our fandom and I too see them as queer in some way - but not in the same way as most of fans do, ohh it's so complicated that I even created new labels to name my feelings about McDanno 😂). There's Danno and pineapples 😆 (Oh, I saw "Danny hates pineapples" so many times that I needed to do some meta about him loving and eating them 😂).
Hm, I'm not a big fan of "Danny is so delicate, special snowflake, so different than Steve and all the team, he's the weakest part of the team". To me it's what Lenkov tried to do but Scott (and Alex) sabotaged.
And... I can't imagine "one night stand" in McDanno's case. Definitely not, sorry ❤️ And not with Danny's anxiety (oh, I feel that even before the first kiss there could be a long talk aka What it will change and What it can't change and Are you really sure you want me and Ok I'm just panicking I know we'll be together forever babe 😂).
But really, my "can't imagine" doesn't mean that I avoid it or something like that. I can still talk about it, read about it and be happy that someone wanted to share it. It's like "I've got my tea but ohhh babe, show me your coffee, you make your coffee so well! And you babe, it's nice to see you with your milk shake! Oh, hi darling, you need to tell me what's in your juice, you know!".
9. Do you have a favorite case the team worked on?
Ayyy... Can I say John's case? Please?! 🥺 Well, technically they weren't Five-O yet but still, they're already a team, right? Yeah, I mean Pilot. Pilot my beloved 😍 The best McDanno episode ever 😍 But I truly loved other cases too, so many cases... Stakeout of course! 😁 And ayy, very underrated but very dear to me: Sang Min's case. You know, when he was accused of murder and McDanno with their Ohana did everything to help him and they believed him and, gosh, they showed him "you know, sometimes you piss us off but you are a nice guy too, you are OUR guy, our Ohana you know". When Sang was damn touched I was touched too, I really cried with him. I love his relationship with these people, how he has changed thanks to them and how much they like each other - cops and ex criminal. Never say never, people are people ❤️
21. What is a thing in fanworks that you eat up every single time?
I think I just crave McDanno - the more, the better 😄 (from earlier seasons - always!). Angsty. Happy. Goofy. Just McDanno. I'm also always excited when I see McDanno's silver Camaro (cause Misty lives, ok? 😜). And cop!Steve, Steve being happy in Five-O. And Ohana: Kame, Gerard, Mary, Ellie, Odell, Toast, Sang... I love these people so much so I'm always happy when I see them in fics, fanarts and so on 😊
So now:
@anastablack Ana, if you want: 8, 11, 16, 18
@trickster-archangel Sunshine, if you want: 2, 4, 13, 19
@dannysliver Babe, if you want: 3, 14, 18, 22
And you know, ALL sunshines: just feel free to do it. If you want to pick something and answer - do it, please. It would be great to see your thoughts ❤️ And seriously, just do it (let's end with "naaah, it will be weird cause I wasn't tagged...") 😘😘😘

Snow and Song Chapter 5
About five seconds after Danny registered the huge crowd of people gathered in the park (and why were they there?  Had there been some kind of event he forgot about?), it began to snow.   Danny looked around himself in alarm.  He was often insensitive to temperature changes (and a few other things, according to his sister), but it wasn’t nearly cold enough snow.  It was September.
He looked up.  There weren’t even any clouds.
A snowflake, perfect and crystalline, stuck to his eyelash.
Alright.  When something weird and unnatural started to happen in Amity Park, usually there was a ghost involved.  All Danny had to do was find the ghost causing it to… snow…
Oh.  Right. He was a ghost that could make snow.
He was an idiot.  He hadn’t even noticed his core activating.  His cheeks flushed with cold.  This was so embarrassing.
Wincing, he looked back down at the crowd.  Only about a tenth of the people had phones in their hands, winking camera lenses pointed up at him, but that was more than enough.  He felt entirely too visible.
… Which he could fix because he was a ghost, darn it, something that he kept forgetting about tonight.  Berating himself, he adjusted his visibility down to zero and flew away.
Almost at once, all the birds took off, the sound of wings obscuring whatever the humans down below were saying.
Danny didn’t stop until he got home, trailing snow all the while.  He was not looking forward to tomorrow, but for tonight, maybe, he could forget what had happened.
He went human, phased off his clothes, laid down on his bed, closed his eyes, and started to-
“Maddie!” shouted Jack.  “The ghost-kid is on TV again!  He’s in the park!”
“Oh, good!  Go start up the GAV!  This time, we’ll catch him!  I’ll be with you in a minute!”
Danny let out the breath he had been holding since his dad startled him from his doze in a long sigh.  He resigned himself to being woken up at least once more that night.
.
.
.
The first rays of sunlight filtering through Danny’s window brought with them something that would have chilled Danny to the core if his core weren’t naturally frosty.
Music.
He peeled his eyes open slowly, grudgingly, because it was still September, and sunrise was still quite a bit before the time he had to get up in the morning.  Hoping he was hallucinating, he trudged over to the window and pulled back the curtains.
Ah, yes.  He hadn’t quite expected to find a bunch of cultists standing outside his house with a boombox, playing back a rather scratchy version of Tale as Old as Time, but, somehow, he was unsurprised to do so.  What exactly were they attempting to accomplish here?
One of the younger (about six years old) cultists waved up at him.  Resigned, Danny waved back, then let the curtain fall back down.
He rubbed his eyes.  Normal teenagers didn’t have to deal with cults that worshiped them as a god.  Even that dude from Nazareth was a full adult before he got hit with the heavy stuff.
(Yeah, because it wasn’t at all a sign of megalomania, mental instability, or good old-fashioned insanity to compare himself to that guy.)
(He didn’t want a cult, darn it.)
What did they want, anyway?
He got dressed and started downstairs.  To his horror (but again, not surprise) he heard more music emanating from the kitchen.
“What are you guys doing?” Danny asked.
“Oh, morning, Danno!” boomed Jack.
“Shh, shh,” said Maddie.  “We need to go over that last part again.  There are pancakes on the stove, sweetie.”
“Oh,” said Danny.  “Thanks. But, really, what are you doing?”
“Analyzing the sound patterns of Phantom’s voice!” said Jack.  “We missed it before, but he must have a low-level mind control power!  Just like that Rockstar ghost!”
“Sneaky post-human ectoplasm glob,” muttered Maddie. “That’s how he’s got so many people on his side.  He’s brainwashing them.  But don’t worry, sweetie.  As soon as we figure out how he’s doing it, we’ll be working on a cure!”
“Well,” said Danny, trying not to sound bitter. They had made him pancakes. “That’s news to me.”
.
.
.
Danny stepped out of the house and sighed in the general direction of the cult.
As always, acknowledging them in any way shape or form proved to be a mistake.  They rushed at him.
“Daniel Fenton,” intoned today’s leader, a man wearing robes colored in an approximation of Phantom’s suit.  His beard was… interesting.
“What?” asked Danny.  If only there was a way to skip through awkward conversations like this, like there was in video games.  But, no, life was like one, huge, un-skippable cutscene.  Tragic.
“Last night, our Lord Phantom gave us a message. A message, and a divine task.”
Danny was pretty sure he’d remember that.  “What task?” he asked, resigned.
“To spread his word through song!  And you, his prophet, his chosen, his blessed consort, shall reveal his intent upon the stage of the Casper High School Musical!”
“I’m begging you, call it anything but that.”
“We will do anything to make the Casper High School Musical go well!  We are at your command!”
“Please stop picketing my house and harassing me on the way to school.”
“We have fine members of our choir here to audition for you!  Please take word of their worthiness to our Lord Phantom.”
Several of the cultists began to sing.
“Danny!” called Jazz from the driveway.  “Stop feeding the cultists, or we’re going to be late for school!”
.
.
.
“So,” said Sam.  “The Ghost Watch feed blew up last night.”
“I know,” said Danny.  “I feel so stupid.”
“Hey, it’s fine,” said Tucker.  “But we really do have to put some time aside to test whether or not you really do have a pied piper ability.”
“I made it snow while I was singing,” said Danny.
“Ah.  We’ll have to look into that, too,” said Tucker, making a note on his PDA.  “Who wants to bet that the ‘Phan Club’ will try to incorporate last nights performance into the play somehow?”
“That’s not funny,” said Danny, closing his locker. “Guys, what if I accidently mind control the audience?  Or start a snowstorm inside?  The cultists are already on top of this.  They were outside my house this morning.”
“Again?” said Sam, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes, again.”
“What did they want?”
“They seem to think that there’s going to be some kind of revelation in the play,” said Danny.  He caught the look in Sam’s eye.  “Sam.  No.”
“Sam, yes.”
“Cults are not a toy,” cautioned Danny.
“Not the way you’re using them, they aren’t.”
“Seriously, Sam.  No matter how much you want to change the world, do not use a cult to do it. It never goes well.”
“Christianity started off as a cult.”
“And would you say that went well?  I’m asking you this as a Christian.”
“Are you a Christian?” asked Tucker. “I’ve never seen you in a church. Can you go in a church? Have we tested that?”
“I—What?  I’m not a demon, Tucker.  I went to church, uh…  Last Easter. I can totally go in a church.”
“You had to think of that for an awfully long time.”
“What about a synagogue?” asked Sam.  “Or a mosque?”
“I don’t know.  But you’d think that if I could go into a church, that’d mean I could go into the other ones.”
“But what if you couldn’t?” asked Sam.  “Would that mean that religion is more right than the others?”
“Or more wrong,” said Tucker, “since Danny is a good guy.”
“I—” started Danny.
“PHANTOM!” screamed Wes from down the hall, interrupting whatever revelation Danny could potentially have had.
“Oh, great,” said Danny.  “I’m not Phantom, Weston!”
“Kids,” said Miss Lyn, poking her head into the hallway.  “Please don’t shout in the halls.  Class is about to start.”
“I have proof, this time!” crowed Wes.  “I have video.”
“Oh, no,” said Danny, with perfectly flat affect. “Are you here to harass me with yet another badly photoshopped, grainy, vertically filmed, twenty-second clip of me ‘transforming’ into Phantom like some kind of anime heroine?”
Wes reared back, face coloring and nostrils flaring.
Danny would feel worse about what he had said, if half the videos in Wes’s last ‘Fenton is Phantom’ presentation hadn’t been exactly that.  Tucker had made several of them and stealthily dropped them in various chat rooms for Wes to find, as something halfway between a joke and an exercise in misdirection.
As soon as Wes had included one of those in his presentation, it was doomed to be a laughingstock.  Again, Danny almost felt bad.
“No!” said Wes.  He puffed his chest out.  “From Ghost Watch!”
“Uh huh.”
“I kind of feel like we’d be hearing about it from more than just you,” said Sam.
“Yeah,” agreed Tucker.  “If the news decided Danny was Phantom’s dead twin or whatever, you’d think some of his groupies would be swarming.”  He pointed at a pair of Phan Club members who were having a sedate conversation near the water fountain.  “Where are the groupies, Wes?”
“Did you not learn your lesson from the beauty pageant?” asked Sam.  “Or Egypt?”
“I don’t know, didn’t you learn yours from Desiree?”
“Who’s learning what from Desiree?  Because you should ask her for a better naming sense.  I mean, you just copied.  Lame.”
“You’re talking to me about copying?  You vegans are the copiers!  Vegetable burgers, tofurkey, where does it end?”
“With the abolition of the cruelty of MEAT!”
At this point, most people would have started edging away from Sam and Tucker’s patented and infamous meat vs. veggies argument.  However, Wes had long since proven himself to be of sterner stuff, and Danny wanted to hear what he was on about.
“Guys,” he said, “guys, it’s not working.  He’s still here.”
Sam and Tucker turned back towards Wes.  “Bummer,” said Sam.
“Yeah, Wes, why do you have to be such a bummer?” asked Tucker.
“Let him speak,” said Danny, magnanimously, twirling his hand.
Wes glowered.  “Well, now I don’t want to,” he said, mulishly.
“Come on, Wes, what’s the video, don’t leave us in suspense!”
Wes attempted to glower harder but failed.  Grudgingly, he held up his phone, which did, indeed, play a video from Ghost Watch.  Danny watched himself singing for several long seconds before returning his gaze to Wes.
“I’m not sure what this is supposed to prove.”
“The song, you idiot!  It’s from Beauty and the Beast!  And I know the drama club gave you that music.”
“A movie that thousands of thousands of people have watched and know the music for?”
“That doesn’t matter!  You’re the only one who has any reason to sing it.”
“You mean, other than everyone else in the drama club?” asked Sam, bored.
“Or anyone who likes Disney?” said Tucker.
Wes opened his mouth to make some kind of riposte.
The warning bell rang.
He closed his mouth.  “I’m watching you, Fenton!”
“You and everyone else,” muttered Danny as Wes retreated down the hallway, pointing at him.
Why was everyone around him so ridiculous?
.
.
.
“We’re doing Snow White, not Beauty and the Beast!” howled Razor, baring his teeth at the hapless Phan Club member that had suggested adding ‘Tale as Old as Time’ to the song list.
“If you guys had taken that bet, I’d have so much money right now,” said Tucker.
“Students, please,” said Mr. Lancer.  “We can’t have any actual copyrighted music in our play. Not without paying for it.  And I’m not negotiating with Disney.”  He looked into the distance.  “Not again.  Never again.”
Danny did not want to know the story behind that, but nevertheless, he had to ask… “Are you okay, Mr. Lancer?”
“I’m fine, Mr. Fenton,” said Mr. Lancer.  “Thank you for asking.  In any case, my lovely drama students!  Today, we are going to do our first round of auditions!”
“But, sir, we haven’t finished the script, yet!” protested Mikey.
“Right you are!” said Mr. Lancer.  “But I have found that things go more smoothly when we have people already in the main roles.  There’s less… outright sabotage and script jockeying.”
“What does that even mean?” whispered Samhain (aka Kevin) loudly.
“People trying to change the script to fit a certain person so that person gets the role,” said Paulina.  “Or exclude a certain person.  Which I would never do, Mr. Lancer.”
The covetous glare shot in Danny’s direction indicated that Paulina’s words might have been less than truthful.
Mr. Lancer chuckled.  “I didn’t think you would, Miss Sanchez!”  He began writing on his whiteboard.  “Now, we already have our Prince Snow White, our Princess Charming, and our Evil Queen.”  He nodded at Paulina as he wrote the roles on the board.  “Now, we need our seven dwarves—”
“Ghosts!”
“Excuse me, yes, ghosts.  Thank you, Mr. Baxter.  Our Huntsman—”
“Or woman!”
“Yes, thank you, Miss Thunder,” said Mr. Lancer. “Huntsman, or Huntswoman.  And… Let’s see…  Snow White’s parents, for the prologue, Princess Charming’s retinue, and… I think that’s it.  Alright, let’s start with the ghosts.”
“Shouldn’t they have names?” asked Mia.
“Well, sure,” said Mr. Lancer.  “But we can’t use the Disney names.  You’ll have to come up with your own.”
“Phantom!” screamed Paulina.
“Here we go,” said Danny, burying his head in his hands.
“You want to bet that we’re going to wind up with your whole rogue’s gallery?” asked Tucker.
“If you need money, Tucker,” said Sam, “you just have to ask.  Rates on my loans are very reasonable.”
“Isn’t usury against your religion?” asked Tucker.
“Nope,” said Sam.  “Not at all.”
“I am incredibly against this development,” said Danny.  “The cults are going to have a field day.”
“Ember!  Ember! Ember!”  Chanted the punk goth crowd, which had split off from the larger goth subgroup.
“I am somehow even more against this development,” muttered Danny.  “Mr. Lancer! I don’t think it’s a good idea to include a ghost who gets power from people saying her name!”
“Shut up, Fentonnage, what do you know about ghosts?”
“My parents study them.  I know a lot.  More than I ever even—”
Danny narrowly dodged the workbook Dash flung at him.
“Mr. Baxter!” scolded Mr. Lancer.
Sadly, when everything shook out, Danny did not get his way.  One of the seven ghosts was named Ember and was going to be played by Star.  Because why not?
“At least the Box Ghost and the Lunch Lady aren’t on the list,” said Sam.
“But ‘Hamlet, father of Hamlet,’ is,” said Danny.  “Why does that bother me more than Ember?”
“Because you hate Shakespeare?”
“No, I don’t,” protested Danny.  “Shakespeare is a perfectly nice person.  I just don’t like how his writing is taught in schools.”
“You’re going to break Mr. Lancer’s heart saying stuff like that,” said Tucker.
“He wrote love poems to boys.  Why do they skim over that?”
“Excellent point, Mr. Fenton!” exclaimed Mr. Lancer, who had somehow materialized behind them.  “Shakespeare was definitely bisexual.  I wi—”  The teacher stopped.  “Nope, can’t use that word.  It would be nice if the state let me teach it like that.  Along with the crossdressing.  School board won’t let me.”  He shook his head.  “Dale Baxter. Someday, someday he’ll lose an election. Eventually.”  He took a deep breath.  “Next time we meet, we’ll be doing auditions, okay?  I want you all to think about what parts you would like! And, Miss Gray, I’d like to have a word with you about your role in our production, alright?”

Surprise! I thought this chapter was going to take me a full two weeks, but I really should have known better. These are my boys, and they come to me easy. Please enjoy the final chapter in 1982, and thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this with me. It has been an absolute delight.
TW: Some blood
Chapter Fifteen
“Now, Mama, you know I’d be home in a heartbeat if I could.” He switches the phone from one ear to the other, cradling it against his shoulder as he scribbles aimless shapes along the back of a torn-open envelope. “I promise I’m not missing your pumpkin pie voluntarily.”
“The whole town misses you, Matthew.” She adds a twinge of guilt to her tone, but that trick doesn’t work on him like it used to. “Rich Wilson is already in a tizzy after you missed Thanksgiving this year. Had to put the lights up himself.”
“He couldn’t get Eddie to do it?”
“Eddie drove down to Omaha for the week—had to go see about a girl,” she says, and the immediacy of the town’s gossip only makes the distance seem even farther. “Imagine driving all that way for a girl.”
Matt’s flown to South America for Abby, and he’s met Rachel in Europe on more than one occasion, but now ain’t the time to say so. “Depends on the girl, I guess.”
His mama gives a little grunt. A steady, metallic scrape clutters up the line, and he imagines that she's whisking up butterscotch pudding on the other end. “You’re sure you can’t make it home?”
“I don’t know what else I can do.” He glances toward the window once more, just in case the scene has somehow changed in the past few minutes. The glass has frosted along every edge as a draft creeps in through the aged, wood frames. Fat, white snowflakes catch on the streetlights below while the inches pile up, up, up into the night. “All the flights are cancelled, and the mountain roads ain’t in any state for driving.”
“Don’t you even think about driving that distance,” she says, and there’s a halt to the background noise. He can practically see her taking the whisk from her bowl and waving it at him. “You’ll drive straight through the holiday altogether. God forbid you have to stop in Iowa or some nonsense for morning mass.”
When he talks to his mama, his laughs fall straight out of him without any help. “What’s so bad about Iowa?”
“Iowa’s fine,” she says, back to her cooking. “But not if it means you’re spending Christmas alone. I’d just as soon have you stay in DC with your friends—Pops and I will have to find something else to do with ourselves.”
He won’t be spending Christmas with his friends, either, but his mama doesn’t have a high enough clearance to hear why. “Ain’t the Fishers around?” he offers instead. “I’m sure they could use the company, what with Danny being deployed.”
“Nah, they drove out to Crawford to see Bill’s family this year.”
“Well, what about the soup kitchen?” he says. “They’re always looking for extra help.”
“They’re fully staffed this time of year.” He hears the clattering of her glassware, and he wishes that scents transferred over the phone. What he wouldn’t do to smell his mama’s sweet potato casserole. Her homemade biscuits and some fried squash straight from the fields. Honey ham that fills the house from bottom to top. “We’ll pitch back in once January rolls around.”
“I dunno, Mama,” he teases. “Sounds like you and Pops are just gonna have to have a nice, relaxing Christmas.”
“You bite your tongue,” she teases right back. “I’m sure we can find some project to get up to out in the barn.”
“I figured as much,” he says, and it’s nothing but the truth. Not even Christmas could keep his mama off her feet. “Well, hey, you two should come out this way when the weather clears up. They just finished up that Vietnam memorial—it’s really something. I’ll buy y’all dinner and take you on a tour around town. Make it up to you.”
“We’ll try our best,” she says. “But you know how Pops can be. So hard to get him away from the ranch, sometimes.”
It’s about the answer he expects, though it still carves a little deeper into him. He’s largely shaken the homesickness since he first left Nebraska, but the holidays draw it to the bitter surface until it oozes just below his skin. “Alright, well,” he says. “I’ll come your way soon. Promise.”
But his mama is no stranger to a little holiday loneliness. There have been plenty of years when the roles were reversed, and Matt was the only one home with her while his pops spent Christmas overseas. “Darn right,” she says, not a single tear shed. Then, with a warning to her voice, “And sooner, rather than later.”
“Yes ma’am—love you, Mama.”
“Love you, baby.”
It’s his third attempt to say goodbye, but this one finally sticks. When he hangs the phone in its cradle, the silence gives way to the hum of a rusted radiator and the muffled, evergreen music coming from the apartment above. Church bells sound out in the distance as the streets begin to slow against the storm. The freshly fallen snow brings a rare peace over the world and Christmas Eve settles evenly across the soul of the city.
The quiet doesn’t last long before it’s interrupted by the restless scratch of a key. The fervent click of a deadbolt. Icy air soaks into his blood, freezing him from the outside in. Spirits past, present, and future are hovering over his lonely evening and lately, Matt has been spending a whole lot of time with ghosts. He can’t help the thought that maybe one of them has come to visit.
But of course, no ghosts come. Of course, it’s only Joe.
At first glance, there ain’t much difference between the two. A biblical exhaustion lingers in Joe’s sunken eyes and hunched shoulders. He’s drudging through a dense and unbroken haze. Joe has always had a certain weight about him, but it has only pulled him further down over time, as though each step forward gets just a little heavier. He looks empty. He looks sick. He looks ghostly.
There ain’t nothing left to him, plain and simple. He’s withered, and worn, and his voice crackles with the cold, a cough building somewhere at the base of his lungs. “I thought you were in Nebraska.”
“Flight was canceled,” Matt says, and it doesn’t seem to land. His words go straight through Joe. Everything goes straight through him, as though he isn’t even there at all. “Aren’t you supposed to be in Greece?”
“Came home early.”
They’re lit only by the golden glow of their humble Christmas tree. It’s a small, neglected thing, and neither of them are home enough to water it. The needles are already turning brown, littering the makeshift skirt below. A single strand of bulbs sends starbursts of light across the room, cast along the walls, the ceilings, the drapes. One burst of light lands along Joe’s face as the two of them wait. Just wait. What for, Matt ain’t sure, but he’ll wait until Christmas morning if that’s what it takes.
With a blink, Joe finally comes to his senses. He shuffles across the carpet and shuts the door behind him, checking each lock once, then twice. Steady hands turn to subtle shakes as he finally comes in from the cold.
He walks with frozen joints, keys jingling as he sets them in the bowl. He strips himself of his jacket, and his scarf, and all of his warmth as the storm continues to build outside. A wind knocks down a heavy bunch of icicles as a Salvation Army bell rings out down the street, scoring Joe’s wordless journey from door to kitchen.
A familiar sense of panicked unease curls up in Matt’s stomach as Joe grows closer. It’s true that knowledge can be enlightening, and empowering, and strong, but it can also be horrifying and grim. The secrets hiding below the surface of American history are darker than night and colder than ice. Matt doesn’t know much about the Circle of Cavan, but he knows that they’ve killed. They’ve lied. They’ve manipulated on a massive scale. He knows that they’re damn smart spies, and he knows that Joe is one of them.
But it’s Christmas Eve, after all, so maybe Matt can play dumb for just one more night. “Did everything go okay?”
Joe flicks on the kitchen switch, casting the room in a sterile, white light. It cuts through the evening and highlights Joe’s sullen withdrawal. Shadows carve deeper into his face and Matt spots the hollow cheeks, the glassy eyes, the knotted twist of too-long hair. “Classified.”
“No, I know.” Matt wishes his pops were here. Or maybe his mama. They’d know what to do. They wouldn’t get so lost in their own helplessness. “Just ain’t often we get home early. You’re safe?”
Joe doesn’t meet Matt’s eyes. Instead, he busies himself, peeling open a cabinet. He digs through their cereals, and their oats, and whatever else they’ve bothered to throw inside. “M’fine.”
Matt’s spent enough time translating interrogation reports to know when his questions aren’t welcome, but he’s never seen Joe look this bad, and he’s seen Joe among some of his worst. “You’re not hurt?” he tries, but his voice is hard. “You look—”
“Ask less questions, Matt.”
Another chunk of icicles fall from the roof, shattering across the cement below. It leaves behind a sharp crack that splits through the center of Matt’s ribcage and tears him into two. More secrets. More lies. Joe’s hollow words do nothing to fill the space they steal. With each ingenuine moment, Matt feels himself shrink, growing thinner and thinner as his patience withers away.
Joe, for his part, doesn’t seem to notice.
Instead, he digs toward the back of the cabinet until he finally pulls out a brown paper bag, rolled over top of itself. It’s wholly nondescript, lacking any labels or logos, but it’s coffee. Matt knows it’s coffee, because Matt’s watched this scene play out a hundred times over. Joe has a system for every step, from grind to brew, and he’s leaning on it now. He’s looking for anything to lean on.
Joe peels open the bag and Matt can smell the caffeine from the other end of the kitchen. “S’little late for coffee,” he says, “don’t you think?”
Joe pulls the pot from the machine and swings toward the sink without a second thought. This is his habit. This is his home. This is all he can manage. “Nope.”
But his grip is too tight and he spills the water twice before he finally gets the stream to land in the right place. His usual military precision has been trampled by heavy blinks and distracted attempts at awareness. “C’mon, seriously Joe,” Matt says. “When’s the last time you slept?”
“Fuck, Matt.” It comes out as a short, spiked shot, straight through the hole in Matt’s chest. “What is with the third-degree?”
But the words don’t have any bite, because there ain’t much left of Matt for him to bite into. “I ain’t givin’ you the third-degree,” he says, and he can feel his voice getting louder, but he doesn’t know how to stop it. “I just asked when you last slept—”
“That’s enough.”
Yet another chunk of icicles fall—except that it ain’t icicles. Not this time. The coffee pot makes a similar sound as it shatters against the edge of the sink, but it’s so much closer. So much more immediate. Shards of glass scatter across the tiny kitchen, catching in the cold, white light as they fall. Some clatter and echo toward the drain while others slide across the countertops, bounce off of the cabinets, or land atop the tile to create their own cacophony.
Water washes over it all, splashing over each surface and drip, drip, dripping from the counter’s edge to the fresh puddle below. Everything happens fast enough that, even with all of his training, Matt doesn’t notice the blood until Joe calls out.
“Dammit.” Joe holds his own hand out stiff, examining a deep red gash on the outer edge of his palm. “God, dammit.”
Matt’s across the room in the time it takes for Joe to fumble for a dish towel. Glass crackles underfoot and he reaches out for the wound. “Joe, let me—”
But Joe pulls away. “I don’t need your help.”
This, above all else, sends a flash straight up Matt’s spine. “You can’t mend your own damn hand.”
Joe wraps the towel once, then twice, around his palm. “Watch me.”
If the night so far has proven anything, it’s that Joe ain’t thinking straight. He’s too tired for logic. Too exhausted for reason. The cut is deep enough that it begins to bleed through the towel within moments of applying, and he’s only going to hurt himself more.
But when Matt reaches out, Joe pulls away once more. “I don’t need your help.”
The kitchen ends at Joe’s back, and the only way out is through Matt. After all of these months, he’s finally got Joe pinned down, and he’s not going to let him run again. When he reaches out for a third time, he grabs Joe’s wrist and doesn’t let go. “Quit being so goddamn stubborn.”
Joe doesn’t pull away this time. Rather, he shoves. It’s quick, and strong, and desperate, all in one. Before Matt can fight, he’s thrown into the refrigerator door, the wind tossed from his lungs as the fridge rattles and shakes at his back. Joe’s arm presses tight up against Matt’s shoulders, blood spotting through the towel on his bad hand. It doesn’t take long before Matt realizes he ain’t looking at a spy. He’s looking at an assassin.
“Don’t fucking touch me, Morgan.” It’s a threat. It’s a threat from someone who knows how to follow through on it. “I swear to god—I swear to god—”
“Go ahead,” Matt spits, his own breaths struggling against Joe’s grip. “What? What do you swear to God? Because you ain’t never needed His help before either. Never needed anyone’s help, because you’re Joe fucking Solomon, huh? I’m just trying to fix your damn hand.”
A prayer builds up in his head, but he’s afraid to say it. He’s afraid that if he says it, the angels will hear him, and heed him, and welcome him. He’s afraid that once the gates are open, his wrath could fill the heavens, and his shame would know no match. Joe’s secrets have brought him to the edge of a furious temptation, and suddenly his faith fails him in a way it never has before.
“You can’t just—fix everything.” Joe’s only a few inches from his face, but still, he screams. He screams like he has to. “You want to fix everyone, all of the time, but some people don’t deserve fixing.”
So Matt screams right back, because maybe he needs it, too. “What in the Hell is that supposed to mean?”
“You’re not even supposed to be here,” says Joe. “You’re supposed to be home, and I’m supposed to finally get some goddamn sleep.”
“What are you—?”
“How am I supposed to sleep, huh?” He shakes Matt further into the fridge, pressure building at his shoulders and across his lungs. “How am I supposed to sleep, knowing that all I’m gonna do is run from my nightmares?”
He grabs Matt by the collar now, then shoves once more.
“How am I supposed to sleep, knowing that I could wake up with a knife to your throat? Or to mine?”
Grab. Shove.
“How am I supposed to sleep knowing that I’m the worst of the worst—that I’m dangerous. That I’m—I’m bad. I am a bad, bad guy.”
Instantly, immediately, the angels relieve him of his anger. Joe ain't mad. He's terrified, and that's no good. Not when Matt can help it. “You’re not a bad guy.”
“I am—”
“No, Joe. You ain’t.”
“I’m a killer.” It’s a confession, wrapped up in wrath. It’s a prayer, all his own. “Is that what you want to hear? Is that why you followed me to Georgetown? Why you snuck into my safety deposit box?”
Matt’s jaw tenses up. His heart freezes. He swallows down the inherent vulnerability that comes with being seen as he realizes, not for the first time, that Joe Solomon is an even better spy than he originally thought. “I didn’t—”
“Don’t.” The word is dangerous. Everything about Joe is dangerous. “Don’t lie. You’re shit at it anyway.”
It occurs to him that for all of Joe’s secrets, maybe Matt tried to keep a few of his own, too. Maybe Matt's got no right to be angry at Joe, when he was doing the very same thing. “I’m sorry.”
Joe doesn’t know what to do with the apology, so he only buries his hands deeper into the grip, knuckles turning whiter and whiter. Blood spilling richer and richer. “I was recruited into the Circle of Cavan as a kid, and they gave me the world. They gave me everything. They gave me safehouses, and training, and a steady source of food for the first time in my life—what was I supposed to do?”
Matt listens. All Matt can do is listen. “Joe.”
Joe doesn’t know what to do with that either, so he just keeps going. It falls out of him. All of it. Everything. It’s a secret he’s kept even from himself, finally finding a way to his lips. “I was finally a part of something. I’ve never been a part of something. They were happy to have me and I was happy to have them and there’s nothing—nothing—that I haven’t done for them since.”
“I’m sorry.”
“What was I supposed to do?”
“Joe.”
“What was I supposed to do?”
“I don’t know.”
“And now you—” He searches for the words, eyes bouncing back and forth across Matt’s face, but they don’t seem to strike him. Instead, he just lands on the same ones again. “And now, you.”
Weakness wraps around Joe’s hands, and they fall from Matt’s chest. Joe’s eyes catch on the red in the towel as though seeing it for the first time, and his face grows pale. The shadows eat at him. The shadows devour him.
Joe falls before Matt, begging for judgment. Pleading for wrath. Praying that someone ends it all for him, so he doesn’t have to do it himself. “What are we supposed to do?” he says, but his voice cracks at the end. The exhaustion crawls back into his head, his shoulders, his slouch. The tears start before he can stop them and it’s wrong. Everything is wrong. Joe Solomon does not cry. “Oh, God. What are we going to do?”
The weight of it hits Matt for the very first time. Up until now, it’s been theory, and research, and speculation. But as he watches Joe bleed across the floor, strands of red twisting in the glassy puddle below, the gravity of the situation pulls him down too. He slides with his back against the fridge until the water soaks into his jeans. “We fix it.” He wraps his arms around Joe’s sobs, and he falls easily into Matthew Morgan’s ready embrace, as though he’s been waiting for it to come. “We fix this. We fix everything.”
Matt does his best to hold his friend steady, arm wrapped around his waist, hand steady on the back of his neck, but Joe shakes with his own sadness. Fear falls with every tear and Matt can’t help a few tears of his own. Joe’s pain soaks into Matt’s skin, years of solitude finally at their breaking point, shared with someone for the very first time.
Before long, Joe’s sobs sink beneath the snowfallen silence and he falls asleep with his head in Matt’s lap. With one hand holding pressure on the cut and another running through Joe’s unkempt hair, Matt finally says a small prayer for his friend, because he just knows he’s going to need help with this one.
From the shattered floor of the kitchen, Matt waits sleeplessly for Christmas morning to come. He waits for Santa and his sleigh. He waits for a Christmas miracle. And he waits for Joe, just as Joe waits endlessly for him. The bells for midnight mass chime early, but Matt will have to worship from afar. For now, he’ll just let Joe sleep.
When the morning does finally come, they will begin to set everything right. Together.

Snowflake Part 7 (DannyMay Mist)
no angst this time :D
Part 1 | Part 6 | AO3 | Part 8
.
Fog has entered Amity Park and seemed determined to stay.
"An unusually cold chill have spread over Amity Park leading to early seasonal fog" the weatherman reported, "Meteorologists have been puzzled by Amity Park's temperature drop over the past few months; Amity Park's seasonal cold fronts are not expected to arrive until later next month. None of the neighboring cities have reported any signs of temperature drop which aligns with the forecast weather patterns in the area. The annual-" but not many people cared much about the weather. The only thing that pertains to their daily busy lives are whether they had to bring an umbrella with them for the day or not.
Danny shivered, hunching down into his sweater. The weatherman's voice droned on about other cities in the state but Danny was no longer paying attention to the TV. He is bundled up in several layers of sweaters but he still felt cold inside.
"Here Danny", Jazz handed him a mug of warm cocoa. "It's a bit early for the season but it'll warm you up."
"Thanks Jazz, you're the best." Danny gratefully took the mug, holding it between both hands to warm up his stiff fingers.
Since the accident, the Fenton household has kept close watch on Danny. While feeling rather overwhelmed by their attention, Danny appreciated their care.
With his parents no longer chasing after ghosts, they now have more free time on their hands. Inventing new gadgets was always their past time hobby. Now that it became their main source of income, all their previous researches and inventions are making waves in the alternative energy sector with the substance they continued to call ectoplasm (they used this term for so long that they kept accidentally calling it ectoplasm instead of its new name). Suddenly having more free time available, the Fenton parents decided to spend extra time with their children. Mealtimes are now spent together as a family of four.
In a way, the accident had brought their family closer.
Danny could get used to this.
"By the way Danny, have you done your daily check-up?" Jazz asked sitting down on the couch beside him, holding her own mug of hot cocoa.
Danny nodded, sipping his warm drink, "Yup, already did. Mom said the ecto-radiation is dropping."
Jazz beamed, "That's great! Don't forget to take your meds now."
"Already did that too, thanks Jazz!"
Things were looking up.
.
At night when the street lights strike the fog at just the right angle one can see strange shapes. Shapes that seem to twist and swirl, flowing into shapes that moves as if it's alive. If you stare too long into its misty depths, you might just lose yourself to the fog.

You are my weakness
Howdy yall!! I wanted to get this out for the Hollidays so that everyone got their daily dose of Leonard love (I can't get this man out of my head).
⚠️ WARNING ⚠️: There are swear words and little bit of adult content (such as making out and yearning)
I don't know if others are like me, but I love listening to music while reading fanfiction so here's a few songs I was listening to while writing
Hope you guys enjoy!
(BTW the word fat head is slang for stupid or foolish person, I just see Danny using slang and such)
Okay, that’s not how the conversation went, Mickey is lying to you!”
“That electric pole couldn’t lie to his worst enemy!”
“I guess you’re below that point then, aren’t ya?”
The orge yokai let out a bellowed laugh next to you and you couldn’t help but laugh along with him. You both were hanging out on his balcony, Danny, Mickey, and a few of your other friends were back inside; you all had a successful heist and were celebrating back at his and his gang’s place. You slightly move the mug in your hands, the hot chocolate slowly swallowing the marshmallows Mickey had placed in it.
With winter hitting the surface world, the Hidden City had gotten colder and some of the witches had cast a spell to let it snow, the fluffy little flurries covering the city in a thin blanket of white. You looked back over at Leonard and couldn’t suppress the smile that grew across your face. You’ve been friends with him and his gang for years, always working together to be known as some of the best thieves down in this golden city.
You brought your jacket close, well, Leonard’s jacket. Anytime you were cold and forgot to bring something warmer, you were always up to steal Leonard’s clothes. He never complained and never asked and you would make sure to leave it where you found it. You could hear the faint laughs of Danny, Mickey, and your friends inside, knowing that they were placing bets on the card game they were playing. As you took a sip of your drink, it was Leonard’s turn to watch you silently. He took in your red cheeks, how your fingers twitched against the warmth of your cup, and how the snow stuck to the top of your head like a crown.
It has been years; years of earning each other’s trust, months of becoming close friends, weeks of falling for you. He watched as you ran your fingers through your hair, the snowflakes that had settled melted or pushed away. Your arm was touching his and he tried his damn hardest to not let it show that it bothered him, how he wanted to lean into you, lean into your welcoming scent and breath you in instead of the icy wind.
You were so addictive and he hated it.
You let out another giggle and he gave you one of his side grins.
“What’s so funny?”
“I was just thinking about today. How Danny literally started to sing to the crowd while we made our escape, maybe he should join a band.”
“With that ugly mug? He would mostly likely have to be the drummer since people swoon over the singer, guitar player, and then the drummer.”
“Does that mean you get to be the guitar player since you play?”
“And leave Mickey to be the singer? I think we’re better off as thieves.”
You placed your hand over your mouth to hide your laughs as the jokes finally got to you, her body unwilling leaning against Leonard to hold you up as your body heaved up laughs. The tall yokai gladly took in your weight, your warmth spreading over him like wildfire and couldn’t help but let a light hue of red cover his face.
You were extremely close now, to the point that if you breathed the little ice cloud would cover his face. You were still letting out chuckles as you finally looked up at him, tears barely forming at the corners of your eyes, causing your eyes to sparkle like deep twilight. All titans above he has fallen for you, he has fallen so deep for you he was surprised he was still standing.
“Are you done laughing? I’m pretty sure the humans above heard you.”
You roll your eyes and set your mug over on the ledge of the railing, the steam of the hot beverage slowly dancing with the breeze.
“You know bad jokes are my weakness. Unlike you, I can actually admit to it.”
“I can totally admit my weaknesses.”
“Really? What’s your number one weakness then?”
This was it. This was the time to say his bloody feelings, to let you know that he thinks about you nonstop at random times of the day, how he makes sure that nothing hurts you during their heists, how he lays in his bed and thinks, just for a bloody second, what it would be like if you were there next to him. He could feel sweat start to build up on his body as the silence continued between you two. You were so genuine, loyal, funny, and your features could make anyone swoon.
His mouth opened up to say something, anything, until Mickey came crashing through the door. Leonard quickly moved over to where you and him were no longer touching and he moved his face to hide the blush that covered it. Heavy laughs and booing bursted out from the apartment as the cold air was let into the warm building.
“Y/N! Y/N! I need your help! Danny cannot beat my ass at this next game!” The eel yelled, his face warm with the booze mixed within his hot chocolate. He grabbed your arm and you let out a laugh as the eel basically fell onto you as he tried to drag you back into the apartment. Leonard gave Mickey an evil eye as he dragged you away, a low growl rumbling out of his throat as he turned back to the night sky, his beaten up fingers running through his hair. Maybe it was a sign, to either let you go or to go after you, he didn’t know.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You had left the apartment after your friends left, and Leonard couldn’t help but stare at the front door. Mickey was passed out on the couch, clinging to his handful of cards he had from the final game and Danny was cleaning up the last of the mess.
The green yokai looked back at the balcony and saw that the snow was building up speed and little piles were being created.
“So, ya going after Y/N?”
Leonard instantly perked at the sound of your name and he quickly turned to Danny, who’s eyebrow was raised and a frown was crossed over his face.
“What the hell are you talkin about?”
The rat yokai let out a gust of air as he threw the last bit of trash into the trashcan and crossed his arms over his chest.
“Ya know that Y/N has fallen head over heels for ya, right? I knew that you were a fat head, but not that much.”
Leonard looked over to his side and his hands balled into fists, the emotions that raged inside of him were just too much, he had flings in the past, but he didn’t want that with you.You weren’t just going to be a fling. He wanted you. He needed you.
“What should I do, Dan?”
The tall rat was a little taken aback, never once in his life had he seen his friend so defeated, almost helpless, so desperate that he was asking for help. Danny looked around until his eyes landed on Leonard’s jacket, the one you had been wearing an hour ago.
He handed it over to Leonard.
“Go.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The alleyway was silent as you walked home, your hands stuffed into the pockets of your hoodie as you watched your small breaths create clouds in front of you. The last few hours flashed around in your head and your heart went weak at the sight of Leonard that jumped through your head. You wondered what he was going to say, you wondered if he was going to say anything at all, you wondered if he only saw you as a friend.
You heard hard and fast footsteps behind you and your hand was instantly out with a knife in your dominant hand, prepared for anything. You turned just in time to see who it was that was racing after you, almost trying to catch up.
“Leonard?”
The ogre yokai was out of breath by the time he got to you, his coat and jeans clinging onto him for dear life just like his hands were with his jacket. He took in several gulps of air and just when he thought he had gotten his breath back, it was taken away from him once again.
Snow was once again sprinkled onto your hair and even your eyelashes and your cheeks were clinging for any kind of heat. The city lights dusted you with a golden blur and in the silence he could hear and see your steady breathing from your chest.
Holy fuck you were exhilarant.
He was so distracted that he barely heard your voice against the pounding in his ears.
“What are you doing here? Did something happen?”
He looked down at you and then lower at his jacket, his fingers creating fingerprints due to the cold.
“You, uh, you forgot this,” he grunted and swiftly handed it to you. You took the jacket into your hands and gave him a frown.
“Len, this is your jacket.”
Shit shit!! What do I say? What do I do?
“Yeah, well, you wear it so much it might as well be yours,” he growled as he shoved his hands into his jean pockets, his eyes wandering around so he didn’t have to look at you.
You were still confused but put on the jacket anyway, the old scents that you had held dear hours ago flooded back with open arms. You could smell the sweat of the jacket, the adventure, the thrill of being Loathsome Leonard, you could smell his cologne that made him smell like a foggy pine forest with nothing left but moss covered stones and mysteries left unsolved.
“Thank you, but I’m guessing that's not why you are truly here,” you said with a light sigh, the chilly environment no longer bothering you. He watched as you brought the collar of the jacket closer and noticed how you smelled it and it made his throat and mouth dry.
“It’s hard to talk to you, you know that?” He huffed out as he scratched the back of his neck.
“I know, but you know it’s just me, right?”
Yeah. He knows it was just you, and that’s what made it unbearable to stand here and not kiss you, have you, to be yours.
He tried to think of something up, something cheesy and romantic like Danny, or truthful and spontaneous like Mickey, but if you liked that, you wouldn’t be hanging out around him, you wouldn’t want to be with him.
“Isn’t my weakness obvious, Y/N?”
Your frown only went deeper as your brain tried to think of what the hell he was talking about, and then the conversation came lashing back like a wip. You tilted your head at him and he rolled his eyes and looked at you again, but not at you, but the piece of clothing you were wearing. The jacket. The jacket you were wearing. You.
Oh.
All the blood in your body raced to your face and your hands were moving through your hair so fast that you were surprised that you weren’t bald yet. You tried to remain eye-contact with Leonard but it was almost like you were back in school, blushing and stuttering over a small crush. But this wasn’t a crush, this couldn’t be a crush, this was something fully developed, more well rounded and shaped, this wasn’t something you could just get over with.
The silence was almost too much for the yokai and for a split second he could feel fear and regret hit his gut like a punch, until your lips crashed into his like a freight train.
You were standing on the end of your toes and your hands were holding his face as you kissed him, praying to the titans above that you didn’t mess it up.
Leonard almost went dead within your hands as the heat from your lips traveled over to his, his hands had slipped out his pockets but they stood stiff near you as if afraid to touch you. For Leonard it felt as if the kiss lasted a few lifetimes full of adventure and heartache, but the kiss was short and simple.
You pulled back as you looked up at him with worried eyes. Maybe you had taken it too far, maybe you should’ve had him specify what he meant to double-check, or maybe just-
His lips were back on yours again, this time with meaning, this time with everything he fucking had. You instantly melted into the kiss and so did he, his hands holding onto your face, his thumb softly caressing the skin under it. That hand soon moved to behind your head as your hands went to his chest, your fingers gently holding onto his shirt. With his size and strength he was practically looming over you, consuming your scent, your passion, your taste. Your head started to dip as the kiss started to get heated, more meaning being pushed into it.
You barely had time to come up for air before he attacked your lips again and soon your back was against the wall of the alleyway and everything in your head was getting dizzy, all you knew was that Leonard smelled good, he felt good, and you’ve craved this for months.
Leonard couldn’t keep himself off of you, unless you said something, he was going to chase and explore this feeling you were giving him. His strong hands roamed your waist and couldn’t help but pin you against the brick wall of the alleyway. Your lips were soft, delicate, and your scent was practically calling his name, and your hands traveled up his chest and hooked around his neck and to all the higher beings above to say that you gave him a high was an understatement, because highs don’t last forever, but the love he felt for you would.
“Leonard,” you moaned into his mouth and he instantly slammed his hand up against the wall next to your head, his instincts going haywire within him.
He had never heard you say his name like that. He had only dreamt of it, only allowed his mind to wonder to you groaning and moaning his name during desperate times.
He growled into your mouth and it shook you to your very core to the point that it felt like you were sweating during the winter storm around you. You were able to get another breath before his lips once again found yours and he growled deep into your mouth. It’s almost like he knew you would go weak in the knees because he was holding onto you.
It felt as if he was made for loving you.
“Leonard.”
There it was again, the desperation, the thrill in your voice that was laced with need, you needed him, you wanted him. Another growl rippled from his throat as his kisses slowly trailed down your cheek, then jawline, and then your neck. You let out a gasp as his hands dipped under you and he lifted you up, pushing you more against the wall as he had full and utter control.
He took in your sensitive skin, the shiver that ran through your body, how his jacket looked on you. He couldn’t get enough, he could never get enough of you, he wanted this to last, to taste and savor every last second with you. But, when you said his name again, it was filled with panic.
“Leonard! The cops!”
The ogre yokai quickly turned over to the end of the alleyway; there were two cops standing there, flashing their flashlights down the dimly lit alleyway. As he questioned why the hell they would come down here and ruin his and yours night, he looked above your head to see the obvious No Loitering sign.
“Shit.”
He gently let you down and took your hand and headed in the opposite direction, the cops instantly spotting you two and gave chase. Of course, the cops wouldn’t do much to just two people loitering, but you both had just done a heist and you both knew that your faces would be plastered over every police station.
You and Leonard quickly darted into every alleyway, trying to find a building or area where you could stay hidden until the cops lost your trail. You couldn’t help but laugh as you both raced away from the cops, you felt like a kid again, running away from the cops for vandalizing or when you didn’t know how to hide from the law when you were younger.
Leonard heard your laughter and he rolled his eyes at you, once again laughing at the face of danger. But, you were his weakness, and he was glad of it.

I said I wasn’t going to be problematic this year, HOWEVER...
I need to say this because you all, here on tumblr, are the target audience.
You CANNOT say you’re trans-something and justify it with a random dismorphia. LET ME EXPLAIN put the pitchfork back in your drawer thank you
You can’t be transracial. And you certainly can’t fucking be transabled.
And some of you might be wondering, ‘what is that’? Well they’re made up terms for the priviledged people
transracial is when someone changes their race because they feel like they don’t belong in their race
transabled  is when someone feels like they should have a disability. Or if you want a posh definition ‘the desire or the need for a person identified as able-bodied by other people to transform his or her body to obtain a physical impairment ‘  This is the best way I can describe it, some people go around on wheelchairs and shit because in their heads they should be disabled. Some people want to chop off their limbs so they can actually be who they feel they should be
I don’t think I need to tell you why this is messed up, but I will, nevertheless, because some of you like to say that dismorphia justifies everything
it doesn’t. And I’m tired of having to watch my mouth because of snowflakes.
There are people who can’t walk on their own anymore, there are people who can’t write anymore, can’t cook on their own, can’t bathe on their own, there are people who had to readjust their whole fucking lives because they lost body parts, or because they were born with it. There’s people who have never known what it is to have 2 arms and 2 legs. There’s people who had to learn to live a different way after losing body parts to a war, to diabetes, to car crashes, work incidedents... And the fact that some people want to sit in a wheelchair because they feel like it’s their identity.... I’m sorry, what? It shows the priviledge. And this is something thaat should be treated. And if you don’t see any wrong with this it just shows that you have never had to deal with someone who’s disabled physically, or a physically impaired person’s family. It’s hard. You showed so much rage against Sia’s movie because she didn’t choose an autistic (mentally desabled) person to play an autistic character, it’s the same thing. Mental and physical disabilities affect people’s lives differently, but they still affect people’s lives. And to pretend you are disabled, wether it is mentally or physically, it’s wrong, and messed up, no matter what dismorphia you feel.
If you truly feel like this, you need to seek help before something bad happens.
And maybe I’m the asshole for saying this, but I’l take one for the team, I know I’m right on this one. This isn’t gender, this is people who live with difficulties and have to face so many hardships in their lives so others can play pretend with their reality.
transracial says enough on its own name, you know why this is wrong its not even a thing but if you still have questions on why it’s wrong feel free to hate me on my inbox I’ll be more than happy to explain why pretending to be a race you’re not is messed up and wrong
onto the next one and this one is J U I C Y
W h a t   t h e   f u c k   a r e   t h e s e
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now obviously I’ve cut the person’s @ cause I don’t want any degenerate sending them hate (they’re a minor)
but no, this isn’t a parody
and this is why people make a mockery out of gay people. And not only that! This is the reason why people make fun of sexualities that aren’t straigt or gay, ‘cause we are just ‘making up stuff’ and ‘adding stuff’ that wasn’t there before, like our sexual and romantic attractions aren’t valid
AND THIS IS WHY
because people are genuinely identifying as animesexual nowadays.
I mean, come on. Incestsexual? These weren’t even the worst, there was one that was (tw here skip to next sentence if youre sensitive to sexual abuse) the attraction to sexual abusers, something along those lines. People are abused every day for others to think that an attraction to that is a genuine sexuality.
Are you insane. Are you actually stupid.
A PREFERENCE IS NOT A SEXUALITY. I don’t know how many times I need to say this. I am attracted to dad bods. I am still bisexual. Because a man with a dad bod falls into the men category. I am not dadbodsexual?????????
These things are one of the biggest reasons why people take homossexiality, bissexuality, assexuality, etc... as a joke. Because they think anything is a sexuality nowadays when it’s not true.
If you’re attracted to an anime character, first of all, I feel you, my heart is still with danny phanton (not an anime I know) but it’s not a sexual orientation. Not to mention that you can’t actually have sex or a relationship with an anime character because it’s not real (?). I can’t believe I’m having this conversation.
The LGBTQ+ isn’t a joke, this isn’t some shit that you can make up a new thing and add it because there’s a ‘+’ in there. You can’t piggyback ride off of people’s gender dismorphia, body dismorphia, and sexuality to justify some weird kink or preference you have. It’s not fair for the people that actually have to come out, for the people that suffered and still suffer to this day to be who they are.
I know some of you will probably disagree with me, please tell me why, to the ones who are currently fuming because you don’t like what I wrote save your hate, I can assure you I will tell you to suck my left nut. I genuinely want to see the arguments of people who defend any of these, from the top to the bottom. Not only the sexuality ones cause thats easy to defend with ‘people like what they like 🌸✨’, yes, but don’t make it a sexuality and claim it to be part of the lgbt thanks have a good day
love you all, except the ones I hate
