As a database engineer, I thought I'd seen it all—until our company decided to migrate our entire database system to a new platform. What followed was an epic adventure filled with unexpected challenges, learning experiences, and a dash of heroism.

It all started on a typical Monday morning when my boss, the same stern woman with a flair for the dramatic, called me into her office. "Rookie," she began (despite my years of experience, the nickname had stuck), "we're moving to a new database platform. I need you to lead the migration."

I blinked. Migrating a database wasn't just about copying data from one place to another; it was like moving an entire city across the ocean. But I was ready for the challenge.

Phase 1: Planning the Expedition

First, I gathered my team and we started planning. We needed to understand the differences between the old and new systems, identify potential pitfalls, and develop a detailed migration strategy. It was like preparing for an expedition into uncharted territory.

We started by conducting a thorough audit of our existing database. This involved cataloging all tables, relationships, stored procedures, and triggers. We also reviewed performance metrics to identify any existing bottlenecks that could be addressed during the migration.

Phase 2: Mapping the Terrain

Next, we designed the new database design schema using schema builder online from dynobird. Crisis Pregnancy Centers

These are anti-choice organizations, usually run by or in connection to churches, who use misleading tactics and fearmongering to scare people out of seeking abortions. They often advertise things like "abortion counseling" (which is really just talking people out of abortion), and abortion pill "reversal." Their main purpose is to either scare you out of seeking an abortion, or to stall you long enough that the process to get an abortion is more difficult.

SSA Sex Designation Change Questionnaire (archived) - as of Jan 26th 2025, this page has been taken down on the official Social Security website. That does NOT mean you cannot change your gender marker, it is just being purposefully obscured. One thing to note; even before the current administration, there was no option for an unspecified gender designation, so X will not be an option unfortunately.

Social Security Card Replacement - this is the form you will need to fill out in order to change your name or gender designation.

In which the LU boys are interpreted as having lived their lives and adventures in Golarion, as seen in Pathfinder 2e. Post/Mid-Godsrain. Will include art (mostly for character designs) and fic (specifically Febuwhump 2025.)

For some context in case you are unaware: Pathfinder is similar to Dungeons & Dragons, in which characters have numbers and you roll dice. It is generally played with a group of people each with their own character, but here I'm giving them all the numbers and using them as a basis for fic. It is a high-magic setting built on a foundation of Tolkien-inspired fantasy.

My previous Pathfinder Chain was made attempting to model the existing characters in the game as closely as possible, so we saw a lot of rangers and fighters and really only the one spellcaster (two, if we're counting Shadow.) These new character sheets have a different philosophy in mind, one that attempts to put the characters in the existing Pathfinder world and mesh their stories and gods with the lore. By that logic, there are more spellcasters, and I'm attempting to indulge the high-magic kitchen-sink god-bothered fantasy feel with these designs and stories. I'm very happy with them so far!! I'm planning to talk about the designs here, mostly, and reveal story details in fics.

In the update from 1.0 to 2.0, some of my decisions about ancestry and class changed, but plenty stayed the same. I've actually created character sheets this time, however, so I'm very excited to talk at length about those. :) For anyone interested in learning more about my choices, asks are open, and so is 2e.aonprd.com, the free, licensed online database of Pathfinder rules. I’m using Free Archetype and they’re all level 5.

Construction project

To create a new project, database settings are required, such as database type, database character set, and database encoding. This determines the generation of DDL for tables, fields, indexes, and other data. Before designing a table, it is necessary to configure it to the database type you need, and multiple configuration conditions are available for you to choose from.

In softfactory, there are multiple ways to obtain the DDL of a table: DDL can be viewed in the preview window Click on any table and a preview window will appear on the right, where you can quickly view and copy DDL:

Code Settings

Softfactory software can generate CURD code based on the database structure, requiring knowledge of at least one language during generation, such as SpringBoot+Mybatis. Click Settings — Select the language in which the code needs to be generated in the pop-up dialog box:

If these cannot meet your needs, don’t worry, take a look. We can also customize language libraries, and the names of these languages will tell AI how to generate CRUD code.

Code can be generated in two locations: the preview window for the table and the table designer

Push Code

Softfactory software can push code to the local area through plugins, which requires connecting the device to Softfactory software in advance. We will not provide detailed instructions, and the operation instructions are visible within the software.

The relationship of a table can be represented by a line, which can be manually dragged or deleted.

You think this is over, no~ If two tables have a primary foreign key relationship, a connection will be automatically formed and cannot be deleted from the chart. If you need to delete it, you need to delete the foreign key in the Table Designer.

doing a database design project for school and we have to come up with our own business to build the tables for so i decided to make an online business selling. “real ‘angel’ bones.” and “the blood of christ.” business model is solid too – since angels are anywhere between like one inch and 300 miles tall i can use pretty much any bones i find and say they’re angel bones. christ blood is distilled from the atmospheric condensation of the body of christ derived from the transubstantiation process of the holy eucharist, which circulates eternally in the air around us, due to being distilled from a transubstantiated source. cuz when you eat the morael of christ, that body part is still derived from the whole of christ, which is also undergoing transubstantiation in that same moment. a drop of water in the ocean is still part of the ocean. therefore every second of every day the entire body of christ is being renewed & released into the breath of life.

dnd players looking into other games often seem to ask for the least maths and the most improv, what if im someone who wants to look into more rpgs but wants the opposite

what are some games, or some genres of game to look up, with the most maths and the least improv even in talking to people? Like ik its a newbie question (and ig this might be a case where you say ive been misled by the dnd culture etc lol) but whats the right design terminology to use for a game with very concrete rules and outcomes for all the "verbs" a player can interact with it through

Nah this is pretty clear, while D&D already is quite crunchy it's not the crunchiest game out there.

If you basically want the same exact genre as D&D but even more mechanical structure, Pathfinder 2e is worth a look. A lot of it should be familiar owing to the fact that Pathfinder is literally based on an older version of D&D and has simply just gone to do its own thing. Whereas 5e went for a looser structure, Pathfinder chose to codify more and more things. Its rules are also available for entirely free online.

My favorite game, Rolemaster, isn't quite as strict;it doesn't have specific rules for codifying everything, but very similarly to 5e, it provides the GM with broadly applicable methods for resolving tasks, and while some tasks get extremely detailed writeups most tasks are handled via a simple table. That table looks like this by the way:

Anyway so the point being that while it doesn't have specific spelled out rules for everything, what it does handle it does with mathematical rigor. However, the edition of Rolemaster known as Rolemaster Standard System did very much try to provide extremely detailed procedures, down to how each individual skill worked. It's also very much in the same broad genre of action fantasy as D&D and Pathfinder.

Someone has been slowly uploading all of Rolemaster Standard System on GitHub.

There's also HERO System which again doesn't have exacting procedures for everything, but what it does handle it does with a lot of granularity. But I think Pathfinder 2e might already do the trick, and Rolemaster is also a good option.

Me? me. definately me, lol. Honestly, I think everyone who has ever tried to trace the history of lolita fashion in any level of detail. I have somewhere in the ballpark of 500 books/magazines in my collection (and if we include catalogs, postcards and flyers the individual number of print media pieces in my collection is probably closer to 1,000). I would say that maybe 1-2% of that information exists digitally online right now. That's just such a vast amount of information that isn't on the internet. Even something like the blurbs I write for the Lolibrary facebook when we launch a new brand/tag sometimes end up being the most indepth history of some of those brands in English on the internet and that's just wild to me. Because for me to even do that, we have to have a few dozen fashion items recorded in the database from that brand/designer already. Even simple things like "What year did this brand release their first collection" is often hard to find.
