I kinda wanna learn a language of the Indian Subcontinent but idk which one I wanna learn

I discovered my train was going to Ernakulam Town and not Ernakulam South (to be honest I'd probably done this intentionally back while booking, assuming I'd go to Munnar the next morning), and decided to take the public bus just for the experience (since it wasn't that much longer than an uber for such a distance). Man, I thought Taiwanese bus drivers showed a disregard for passenger comfort but it turns out I knew nothing. I was holding on for dear life with both hands til a seat freed up. Nonetheless it was an invigorating contrast to the Vande Bharat executive chair coach I'd arrived in (which had me thinking if I could just ride that around the whole country I'd be happy as a clam!), I daresay I ought to do it more often.

Is there a name for the continuous line on which the letters of scripts such as devanagari and similar scripts spawn from? If you know what I mean.

(If you don't: there are scripts that have a continuous line that connects all the letters and is straight.)

So if you were conlanging, and your language had [w], but not [j] or [h], and you were adapting Devanagari for the orthography, would you use

य or ह to represent [w]?
