A Maxis Match Lighting Mod Tweak!

As requested by @jellymeduza I'm sharing my tweak of @dreadpirate's fabulous Maxis Match lighting mod. This makes the unlit rooms during dawn and dusk a bit brighter (closer to how they appear at nighttime) and tweaks the colour-cast a bit too. The photos above are all four time of day states including with my tweaks - but nothing about day or night was actually changed from the original MM lighting mod.

Below are all the before and after pictures for dawn/dusk next to each other - before is the MM lighting mod "out of the box" and after is with my tweaks.

How to install:

Download the Maxis Match lighting mod exactly as per dreadpirates instructions. (don't worry about the part on enabling or disabling dawn and dusk states, that will be included in my edit)

Replace your lighting.txt file with mine included in this download - this will be in your base game install folders, for the UC the file path is "Double Deluxe/Base/TSData/Res/Lights" and you'll be overwriting the lighting.txt file in there with mine.

The 2nd Headless Haunting: Alas

The whole Conjoined Thing made the boys assume that they'd always die together. It made biological sense. That's how it was supposed to happen. And besides, the other alternative was incredibly terrifying in a nearly unthinkable way (even though they both agreed that it would make for an absolutely fabulous gothic horror stage play). So when they were carried out of the theater and rushed to the hospital, there was a strange sort of comfort blanketing all the pain and fear that at least they were together for whatever happened next.

Jeremiah died that night. Johnathan died five and a half years later.

Kind of.

They'd both had a lot of time to think after Miah "moved out" (moved on didn't feel entirely appropriate for some reason. Probably because his torso was still. You know. There.), but it seems that their separate introspections synced up enough that when John's heart finally gave out and they saw each other on different sides of The Tunnel they silently stared through the dark for a good long while before both brothers turned back the way they came.

They'll meet again someday. Despite what a few incredibly dramatic screaming fights as teenagers would tell you, they do love each other. No longer being physically conjoined didn't mean that their bond was broken, or even weakened. They just both independently decided to have a little more alone time.

John now spends his undead career being an appropriately spooky Omen, haunting the theater scene, and serving as a psychopomp for broken child stars and disabled entertainers. He also wears his bother's head, keeping it tied to his neck with a thick ribbon of hair. Miah was always the prettier twin in John's opinion, and the entire body is his now so why not? If he's feeling really spooky (or generally Emotionally Weird, it's hard to tell the difference with him) he carries around his head Yorik style and alternates talking through them both.

You know. Normal theater kid stuff.

So I'm having a hysterectomy on March 10th. I've wanted to do this for literally the last 20 years because my periods have always been terrible, and I finally have a doctor who's like "Ah, you are an Adult who can have Bodily Autonomy and Make Your Own Decisions About Which Organs You Want Yeeted."

I am thus asking for some help with some expenses related to surgical recovery, etc.

It'd be really helpful to have more wiggle room in the budget for getting take-out if I'm not feeling up to cooking or managing stairs, easier food I can ask Lynati to heat up for me and bring upstairs - stuff like that.

The big goal, though, is that after I recover from surgery (and am no longer at risk of bleeding on things) I'd like to replace my mattress. My mattress sucks. It has collapsed in on itself, and this is REALLY not good for my back and it hurts.

Astraea actually thinks the mattress is fabulous because it had a huge divot in the middle that is fully 6 1/2" deeper than the regular height of the mattress, so she can snug up in it and be in a little fort. She will, in fact, bite me, if I try to move her out of it.

Help me break my poor little kitty cat's heart, and help me to get a new mattress, please?

I'm not currently in dire, desperate straits, but I am disabled and on a fixed income, and everything is expensive and stressful, especially with *gestures* The Current Political Situation.

Also my friend Arin keeps saying "This is Astraea's hole, it was made for her" and I would like her to stop referencing that short story, and she will only do this if I replace the mattress.

If this is something you can help with without hurting yourself, I would really appreciate it.

Shoutout to the Helpols with disabilities.

Those of us who have anxiety, depression, other mental disabilities and physical disabilities. You guys are absolutely fabulous.

Even with the pain and struggles you work through daily, you still find time to worship. And even on the days you can’t you’re still doing enough. The things you go through is awful some days and yet you guys are still so dedicated and you deserve so much rest and recognition.

The gods will never be mad at you for the days where you’re in so much pain mentally or physically that you can’t worship, or offer things at their altar. They’re proud of you for still being here and working through it all despite the pain it can bring sometimes.

Keep doing you, and remember to take breaks and rest when you need it.

We, the queer and trans, staff & volunteers at Scarleteen spend the vast majority of our time giving support. We very actively maintain a friendly and accessible website full of resources, advice and information, and provide a caring, safe and patient environment in all of our direct services. We continue to make a massive contribution towards sexuality education as a whole, as we have for the whole of our 25 year tenure. Everywhere we go we receive thanks from educators and service workers for the motivation we, and our founder Heather Corinna, have given them to do incredible work in their communities. However, for our daily survival and our dreams of the future, we need support too!

Unless our current trajectory changes we will not have the funding this year to give our volunteers end-of-year stipends to reward their generous efforts, nor bring our codirectors’ wages any closer to industry standard or even industry average rates of pay for their positions and tenure - averages which we continue to undershoot by quite some margin, nor will we be able to reimburse those staff for the many hours they have worked in excess of their basic 30 hours a week. We will also be unable to increase their healthcare benefits which for one disabled member of our team, will have been exceeded 4 times over by actual healthcare costs by the end of the year, which they have had to pay for out-of-pocket.

As part of our annual Pride celebration we are asking you to consider becoming one of the 50 (and fabulous) new recurring donors we are determined to find this week! Please consider supporting a few good queer & trans people to help us continue to deliver queer sex and relationships education, info and support, which remains free and open to all.

This is my beloved SpyBoy. He is a very sick little dude. He was diagnosed with diabetes recently, which has resulted in half a dozen vet visits, an extended stay at the cat hospital, and seriously devastating vet bills.

My husband was recently laid off, and I'm disabled, so we currently have zero income and zero savings.

The vet has let us make partial payments, but the balance is coming due on the first.

i've been under a lot and i mean a lot of stress lately so i acknowledge my ability to tolerate has been a lot worse but.

y'all need to humble yourselves a little bit.

so fucking often i see ableist and specifically anti-physical-disability rhetoric in the pagan (particularly helpol) sphere and i really urge y'all to think about who you're potentially going after when you post, whether it is intentional or it is not.

the idea of lazy or no-effort offerings is so fucking harmful and every god damn day people in the pagan sphere seem to reinvent a personal opinion that inherently sets up disabled folk (who sometimes can do extravagant and dignified offerings, and sometimes can't) for being demonised. lazy offerings as a concept is just one of the many ways you're setting people up for a feeling of failure and additionally potential public shaming.

no i can't clean my altar. some days i offer nothing more fabulous than a fruit-flavoured mentos. treating the practice of people who cannot do something, for whatever reason, as lesser is a huge problem in the pagan sphere and i'm sick and tired of having to explain why each helpol discourse of the week DOES hurt disabled folk, actually! and it does it every time.

stop going for people's practices when you know nothing about them. it's the audacity of it all that makes it so irritating, people who cannot perform certain actions for the gods are not lesser than people who can, and you're saying this to a stranger and judging by how they post online.

tldr; the implication of laziness or underperforming ANYTHING has been ableist rhetoric for a long-ass time. stop doing that in the pagan sphere, i'm begging.
