It's ok to be angry
It's ok to be angry that people make dumb questions about your mobility aids
It's ok to be angry that people make mean comments about the way you walk
It's ok to be angry that most places don't have the slightest accessibility
It's ok to be angry that good mobility aids are extremely expensive and people always try to make profit out of your disability
It's ok to be angry that you saw those teens laughing at you on the street for being disabled
It's ok to be angry at a parent of a young child that made a humiliating comment in public about your disability
It's ok to be angry at your parents for being ableist
It's ok to be angry at ableism
WE SHOULD BE ANGRIER ACTUALLY

It almost seems like non-disabled people have a harder time accepting when a chronically disabled person will never get better - and maybe even deteriorate over time, than the affected person has.
"Aww don't lose hope"
There is no hope to be had? Stop pushing your toxic positivity down my throat when I have come to terms with my situation and am grieving already.
Losing hope is what has given me an ounce of peace of mind. This is what life is now. It's not your grief, it's mine.

I can't think of any disability patch ideas. Like there's the basic "Disability Pride" or maybe just "crippled Punk" but I feel like those are too soft when placed next to "punch Nazis" and "rather a Faggot than a fascist" you know. Any ideas?
time to go use my punk disabled bestie roommate whos an ambulatory wheelchair user for ideas
'Ill run u over' if ur mobility aid has wheels
Paint two canes crossed like swords 'ill smack a bitch' or smth about hitting bitches
'tired but angry' for hidden disabilities because hidden disability ppl be tired
'Your ableism is exhausting' they were so proud and went wow aliteration both of those start with a's. upset telling them thats not how its spelled lmaooo

I just made a post about the end of pride month. It's July now, so happy disability pride month to my fellow disabled people!
Friendly reminders to able bodied people
Don't tell disabled people how to refer to themselves
Listen to them when and how they refer to their disabilities
You don't need to know why someone is disabled
This includes if they have a service dog, you may ask what tasks the dog performs if you are a business owner. Not what disabilities they have.
Also, in the US there are no "service dog cards/papers"
It's illegal to refuse service to someone because of a disability
If you know someone who is disabled questions are fine as long as you are respectful. Some of us love to educate. (However some aren't things we like to talk about, be respond that)
Slurs are never acceptable if they don't apply to you (you wouldn't use a racial slur don't use one about disabilities either)
Don't make jokes based around disabled people stereotypes. It's not funny.
Not all disabilities are visible!
I know you mean well but you do not know what it feels like, please do not tell disabled people you do.
When we say we are tired and you are also tired, we do not mean the same thing.
Abilism isn't funny, it causes so much harm and discrimination please don't be abilist.
Reminders for my fellow disabled people
You are valid no matter what.
You are allowed to have good days and still be disabled.
You are allowed to have bad days and need extra help or more time to rest.
With that you are allowed to take days to rest.
You know your limits, please follow them and don't harm yourself.
You are not an inconvenience!
Please remember to take your meds, they are important
Don't stop taking your meds without consulting with a doctor (unless they are doing horrible things, even then please contact your provider)
Also doctors who don't listen suck, we've all been there and we feel you.
You are not faking for attention no matter how much your brain tells you that
Sometimes you can't always look on the bright side. It's okay to recognize the negative as long as you don't let that take over.
Asking for help is good and doesn't bother people. And if it does those aren't people you should have in your life.
If a mobility aid will help you then use whatever will help you
Your problems are "bad enough" and valid. Don't compare yourself to other people and if you need help then get it.
You do not need to be absolutely horrible to get help.
If your diagnosis came as relief that is perfectly fine, knowing there's a cause for your problem and now having ways to manage it is wonderful.
If your diagnosis did not come as a relief that is perfectly fine as well. It's terrifying and soul crushing sometimes getting diagnosed and realizing you're going to deal with this forever. You're not alone.
You know your body better than anyone else. Listen to yourself and what your body needs.
You got this, you aren't alone. Mental and physical disabilities suck but be proud of them.
You live with them everyday and you're still here, you're still fighting. You're so strong.

Okay but as someone with chronic pain, I think it's extremely important to point out how relatable it is for Ashton to take two points of exhaustion from their Titan form.
When you use all your available energy to do something like a day out with your friends or a vacation, ect. and then crash so so fucking hard afterwards. (I just kept screaming "Punk Rock has no spoons!!!")
I will push myself to the brink just so I can spend time doing fun things with my loved ones only to wake up the next day not being able to walk without my cane, or having triggered a flare up that I'll have to go through for a week. Don't get me wrong, it will always be worth it, but it IS a cost that disabled people have to juggle just to have experiences that abled bodied people don't have to worry about.
Tal continues to provide us with such an amazing rep for chronic pain and it makes me so sad to see so many people hating Ashton. Like...I understand it's not all inherently ableist but it always hurts to see such a real portrayal of our experience be torn apart.

A struggle that's not talked about enough with chronic pain: wanting to sit a certain way (ex: criss cross applesauce, knees up to chest, on knees) but not being able to because of the pain and having to keep your legs straight out

Sklonda Gukgak telling riz she doesn’t like “the ball” and riz being like “no I like it it’s meant as a good thing” is definitely, totally, for sure not reminding me of when I was in high school and all my friends and several classmates called me “cripple” all the time and I was like “this is okay it’s meant to be affectionate” right now

SOOO today is positivity wednesday (totaly made up by me don't worry)! And don't forget to remember that You are absolutely stunning...
specially if you use a cane
specially if you use a walker
specially if you use crutches
specially if you use a wheelchair
specially if you use back aids for scoliosis and posture issues
specially if you have a prothesis
specially if you use ANY aids i forgot to mention
No, I did not mean "even if" instead of "specially if", your aids don't equal ugly or weird, you are pretty, handsome, beautiful, whatever it is that you prefer. You are not any less just because of your mobility aid. And though it may seem obvious, it's nice to be reminded about this FACT.

This is Shouko Komi from Komi can't communicate!
Komi has a communication disorder and is nonspeaking. She is also an AAC user, primarily using a notepad and pencil to communicate. While it is not canon, many people see her as having autism in addition to her communication disorder.
Negative stereotypes? While some take issue with the fact that her classmates see her as "above them" and treat her like a god-like figure, others love a positive representation of communication disorders and appreciate that she is not harassed/hated by her peers.

low energy/mobility food suggestions that aren't ramen for chronically ill and disabled people, taken from my personal recipe book:
- meal replacement shakes my beloved holy shit seriously. keep some around for when you are too sick to move, cook or eat, be it in powder form, or the already made shakes. walmart and other places have generic slim fast and ensure shakes that are way cheaper and just as good. there is also carnation instant breakfast, though they are owned by nestle so if you dont want to support them, avoid that brand.
- boxes of individual sachets of cream of wheat and oatmeal that can be microwaved. no lots or pans just a nice filling meal. cream of wheat can be prepared savory or sweet also!
- stir fry. very simple concept, take whatever vegetables you actually like eating, frozen veggies work great they make stir fry veggie kits, grab a bottle of sauce and whatever protein if you want any. one pan meal unless you also plan on adding rice or noodles, those will bulk it out and make it last for longer, but making rice without a rice cooker is very intensive. this also requires being able to stand or at least be seated in front of your stove for about 20 minutes on average.
- garlic bread or texas toast with cheese. take a thick slice of bread, put some butter, garlic and shredded cheese, place in the oven on a low temp (~350° F depending on your oven) for a few minutes. violá
- tuna, turkey, ham, etc melts. prepare your favorite sandwich like you would normally, add some cheese, butter the bread on the outsides and cook like grilled cheese. makes you feel way more satisfied than you would with a cold sandwich, makes a good low effort warm dinner (great with soup!)
- hummus. keep hummus around if you like it. you can use it as a spread on sandwiches to give them extra protein and you can also just have hummus with bread, bagels, chips, veggies, etc. it's versatile, low energy to prepare and it gives you good energy
- potato salad, macaroni salad, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and any other large "family" side dishes that can be bought from the deli at a supermarket. very filling, zero effort and they last a while
- have one type of bread for sandwiches and a nicer type for toast. trust me on this one. toast is a great meal, but you want your bread to not be sandwich bread. get a loaf of italian bread, sourdough, rosemary bread, or any other cheap large loaves of bread. toast that for just a few minutes in the oven/toaster oven. you will understand the difference when you do.
- canned baked beans or my favorite, canned yams. these will both fill you right up and make you feel like you're having a holiday dinner, baked beans are good at room temperature too if you have no spoons to cook. canned yams/sweet potatoes can be microwaved and have butter, and sugar if you like thrown on top. I've eaten just this as a meal so many times. cans of refried beans are also a blessing to have around
- cheese of all kinds, especially cottage cheese. sometimes I can't figure out what to eat so i just eat some damn cheese and it works. yogurt is also really good to keep around, if you like it, as it also requires no preparation for the most part unless you like to add stuff to it
- keep a box of granola bars or fruit bars around. having a hearty filling snack for when you can't find the energy to do much will save you. loose granola is also a real banger
