Holiday Break pt3.
As Dee did Johns make up Bee got the next few items at the ready, then joined her best friend….
”My my little one look at you the perfect princess baby girl”
Auntie Dee was putting the large false eyelashes on sissy, then added a few dots to each cheek…
”There we go Baby Lemon !..Now no looking or we will be Very angry with you missy !..Turn around and spread your legs wide for Auntie Bee !”
As John opened his legs he felt a soft hand on his swollen member ! But jumping in the stool his Auntie Dee had to hold him down !
“Bad girl keep still Auntie Dee did tell you she was going to take care of that nasty little thing missy !”
Bee had a beer cooler sleeve with a cloth over it now pushed over sissy’s cock ! As it began to shrink she lifted the cage a steel affair with holes around it, the dome head had little love hearts cut out that pink flesh was now being forced up out of the evil device !…
Sissy whimpered through the whole process but five minutes later her “Clittie” was locked away !
“Handies up baby lemon !”
Bee barked at him..
Aunti Dee lifted the sissy dress she had picked out, this was a clear pvc dress. Very short with cartoon characters around the hemline of Three acre wood !…
The neck collar had the same cartoon characters, the huge puffy sleeves were full length and Both girls were now fastening the buttons on the cuffs over the mittens
Next was the plug !
It looked like a black Christmas tree with little rubber spikes All over it !
“Now remember not a word sissy girl ! Got that ?”
John nodded as then bent him over kicking his legs out to the sides hard to a cry from him !
“Clever Baby Deep breath and hold !”
Bee barked…
She took her time inserting the pluggie her assumption was right slowly his passage opened and the first two sections slid in to panting as the next two entered she felt resistance…
“Just relax for me Baby lemon this is Going in All the way missy !”
Bee pumped it a few times then pushed hard to a huge scream !
“Stand up straight sissy !! Do it Now !!… look at your Auntie Dee and tell her Your sorry for being a Baby pantie stealing wee shit !”
Dee couldn’t believe it Johns heart felt apology over being a sissy thief was lisped out like a two year old…
She was about to talk when Bee Spanked the same red hand print for earlier !
Smack !
Tell Auntie Dee you’re a Bad Baby girl and need to be Punished !”
A second lisping rant came from sissy All the while looking at his beautiful Auntie !..
He was crying openly now …
Dee was almost ready to have a climax there and then… but again the wicked feeling took over !
“O’trust me You fucking wee shit we Are going to Punish you way beyond anything that dirty little mind could ever think up ! Now ask Auntie Bee to gag you !”
He turned to ask Auntie Bee to gag his lisping in the same Baby voice ..
That’s when he caught a look at himself in the bedroom mirrors !
OMG he looked like a China dollie ! The dress was clear with cartoon characters adorning it ! … his head was bald but for a tuft at the top front of his head with a yellow bow tied in the wee tuft of hair !…
The last item Bee held up was a pair of beautiful frilly lined plastic pants ! These too were clear but for the frilly tummy and thigh cuffs…
As the two girls pulled them up his legs Bee took the lead snapping it back to the collar !
“From this moment on You will crawl everywhere like the Baby you are ! Get on all fours !”
Auntie Dee smacked his other thigh hard..
“Do as your told ..Bad girl it’s Punishment time for you !”…
John was literally Dragged down the hall to the dining room where he looked at everything set up ! …
“No missy those crocodile tears won’t save you am afraid You’re going to be Punished severely until you learn to do What You Are Told When You’re TOLD !”
…
Bee patted the leather cover over the table !
“Up you get face down over the end of the table and stead your leggies Wide off the floor !”
As sissy did they set about strapping her down Very Tightly !
Until sissy could No longer move only her head was free !…
“Now Auntie Dee let’s get started …would you like to spank her? then we can work our way through the punishment Toys !”
Dee stood to his side raised her hand and let loose raining blow after blow on sissies rear ! ..
John did Not take it well he squealed and screamed the whole spanking !…
But as Dee stepped aside Bee swung a huge black belt to a loud Crack !…
Sissy shook his headie violently…
“Hold her headie Auntie Dee that simply is not allowed, she is trying to take away from her punishment !”
Dee got up on the table kneeling pulled up sissy’s head wedged it between her thighs tightly as Bee raised the belt !
Thwack ! … Dee felt the shuddering from sissy along with the squealing but she cared not an ounce she had a want of her own !..
“O’yeah Auntie Bee punish the little shit Hard (Thwack !) Yes she stole my lovelies my best silk knickers ! Little Baby brat !!..belt her Harder Auntie Bee !”…
Bee was Grinning ear to ear her best friend was in fact a natural Dom ! ..
This was going to be a fantastic evening of teaching her best friend the ropes in more ways than one !!!…

Lives Assassinat-Ed and Protect-Ed, a preview into an Ed Edd n Eddy "Assassin AU" project...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I adore C2ndy2C1d's assassin take on EEnE and I'm often sad it never really went anywhere... Sure, there's the cool fan art and all, maybe a short story or two, but nothing all that much. In fact, I fear the AU is practically forgotten about, for the most part... So, I wanna do a fan fiction series dedicated to it and possibly turn it into another web comic series. I've taken the liberty of posting a short "Bible," per se, of notes to follow. Feel free to take a peek, if interested. It's also good to have this here, as a sort of "back-up," should something happen to the actual file.
Synopsis: How go the lives of the EEnE cast, especially for the likes of “Triple E” (Eddy, Double Dee and Ed), Nazz, and the “Dollies” (Sarah and Jimmy)? After all, they now have more than just themselves to keep alive and take care of, within this crazy career field of danger: three new faces, one for each undertaking wing mentioned prior.
Full Synopsis: The Eds and other once-residents of the Cul-De-Sac (and trailer park) try keeping alive, navigating through a life forced upon them in the assassination business. This soon expands to three additional characters: Claire, Yami, and Cio. Cio is taken in by the Eds, as Eddy took interest in this “mentorship” program, which the organization invented to increase the lacking “graduate” numbers, as of late. Eddy’s interested in the money, obviously, thus dumping most of the responsibility onto Double Dee (and an ever friendship-interested Ed).
Nazz discovers Yami, when the younger lady is on the verge of dying on the streets, and takes pity on her: Nazz knows what it’s like to lose your home/family and there’s Nazz’s naturally kinder side.
Claire becomes the “adopted puppy” of Sarah and Jimmy, after they decide to take home their newest “dolly/toy,” once finished with a hit upon a gang leader. Surprisingly, the Blades’ captured “werewolf” manages to win favor with the two, over time, and vice versa; although, it’s clear who’s in charge.
These newfound bonds actually help the specific assassins: Cio helps give Double Dee further reason to “keep going” in this cruel and evil lifestyle that forces blood onto his otherwise pacifist hands, “babysitting” (or generally caretaking another) helps Nazz relive easier days and living with a “younger sister” restores some feeling of familial homeliness, while Claire helps bring the crueler Sarah and Jimmy “back into the light” through empathetic/emotional appeal. As for the other two of “Triple E” (Ed and Eddy): Ed naturally welcomes Cio as much and enjoys being an “Uncle” to the small girl in his baby sister’s “care,” and Eddy does learn to care about Cio beyond him just being “extra cash.” When it comes to Yami, Ed’s just as friendly and Eddy’s cool with whomever’s so with him.
Everyone else definitely makes their own appearances: The Kankers naturally want to help out “their men” at times, Kevin is always willing to spend quality time with Nazz and help out his favorite (and most tolerable) “Ed,” Johnny and Plank are always willing to hang out with whomever (even Plank’s favorite “no-neck chump” of Eddy), and Rolf is there to be both badass practitioner of dark magic and… give the side-eye to a certain “wolf-girl” who belongs to two certain “Dollies.” Fortunately, his relationship with Cio and Yami is a tad less uneasy, and everyone else doesn’t take much issue with any of the three new faces.
Can everyone still keep alive, whether experienced veterans or underlings of sorts; and most importantly, is this a lifestyle that can one day be escaped?
Misc Notes:
*The canon characters’ relationships with one another are pretty much the same, as how it was in the actual series. However, characters feel a tad more unnerved by the more childishly cruel touch Sarah and Jimmy developed; meanwhile, The Kanker Sisters are less of a terrorizing force toward everyone and get along with the others better. The alteration of behaviors comes from: Sarah and Jimmy being more susceptible to “warping” because of them being the youngest and most impressionable from the organization’s given environment/efforts, while the Kankers have matured over the years and realize it’s better to save that antagonizing energy for where they’re forced to use it.
*Claire, Cio and Yami are NOT to be their animal-human-hybrid selves!! It may be an “alternate universe,” but it’s an alternate reality of the cast being assassins and NOT an AU where half-humans exist; however, the trio are to have animal themes/motifs for their respective animal that they’re normally hybrids of. Example: Claire is now “Herr Wolf,” the “werewolf” fighter of a strong wolf motif. In addition, Cio and Claire are to be taller and more height-appropriate for those their ages, looking less like children: Claire is still short as a 5 ft woman, but Cio is 5’ 5” now and has his facial fur as a faint jawline fuzz.
*It’s unknown how many “episodes” there’ll be, but it should end with the entire cast trying to escape toward better lives and freedom.

Bizarre AU artdump incoming.
Drew these based on a short, 2-chapter AU I did last year, of the Dalmatian family going through the "Snap" or "Blip" from the Marvel universe. That is to say, one day, half their family disappeared without warning.
I'm very prod of it, and these pics are how I think they'd age during the five year time skip between when their family disappeared, and when they returned.
It was famous for being sad, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
For the designs themselves, I pictured Dolly wearing a jacket to try her best to make it look like she wasn't the same dog. In my AU, she had married Hansel at some point, and lived away from the house.
Dylan would've stayed at home, taking care of everyone who was still there. I feel he'd have a cleaner, more "mature" look to him. He'd also be in relationship with Summer, though the two weren't married. She just lived with them since her human disappeared.
Most of the pups that didn't get "blipped" decided to get "human'd up" to make the change hurt less.
Dee Dee would've gotten older, still keeping her more youthful face, but looking more like the teenaged pups. Her voice would've changed, she would've gotten more mature, but most noticeably, the trademark spot on her face would've faded in the middle, separating it in half...
Symbolizing that, something was missing form her life... Someone who vanished one day, and never came home for five years...
While it's not described in the fic, but one of the more drastic changes for a character would've been Deja Vu. Both Destiny and Dallas would've gotten "Blipped" and she was now without a group. She would've allowed herself to be adopted by a popstar, and she would travel the world as her pet. Her look being an attempt to distance herself from her old life as much as possible, though she kept her collar.
That is all for right now, I haven't revisited this AU in a while, but I did want to try and draw some of the designs I had in my head.
Thank you for reading all of this.

Any queer country or country adjacent music recs?
Okay hi, hello @wolvesofinnistrad! Sorry this took a hot minute, I took this very seriously lmao.
Anyway, here we go.
First, there is a playlist country songs that made you gayer on Spotify that is great. But it's short for my tastes and has not been updated in over a year, so below I have more recommendations for you.
Anything by the following artists you can consider queer country:
-Shania Twain
-Reba McEntire
-Kacey Musgraves
-Dolly Parton
-The Chicks
-Brothers Osborne (lead singer TJ is openly gay)
-Chris Housman (Tiktokker new on the country music scene, his song Blueneck is really good)
Also most songs by Jo Dee Messina and Carrie Underwood are queer anthems
And finally, here are some individual recommendations based on vibes and my personal experience with them 😂
2000's Country
Brooks & Dunn - Ain't Nothin 'Bout You
Joe Nichols - Brokenheartsville
Kenny Chesney - Anything But Mine

Name Ideas ; List One (A-J + Double First Names)
FIRST, A Note: I’ve realized that these names can also help with writing; example, you’re making character (or in my case, using character from a fandom but need to name their kid), but don’t have a name? Here’s some help!
In short, the name ideas are going to be reposted on either my main or fic-rec blogs...or both. Not that it has anything to do with posting name help...
NEXT, A Guide: So these are male, female, gender neutral, basically just names. I’ve included “multi-first names”, example; in one of my fics, I named a child “William Claud / Will Claud”. Boom, double first namer.
Okay, uh, To the names I guess?!
Two first names, not alphabetized ;
Jonathan James (JJ)
Jamie Daniel (JD)
Devon Jack (DJ)
Spencer Lane
old name choice of mine, I’m excited but tbh it has nothing to do with your choice... continue 😅
Tyla Jane (TJ)
Tyler/Taylor Jayden (TJ)
Kaleb Dexter (KD)

Kieran Drew (KD)
Parker Gray
Oliver Jay (O-Jay/OJ...lol)

Spencer Thomas
Tommi/Tommy Joel
Avery Jones (AJ)
Bree Anne/Ann
Or / Really any two names you think sound good together. AND while I added things like “AJ” and “JT” at the end for abbreviations or whatever, the nickname / shortened name doesn’t have to be two letters. Example, Spencer Lane and Jack Will!

I HEARD THE RUMOR OF: STEVE HELPED LYNZ TO JOIN MSI
Many have been the rumors of Lynz's entry into the band, however, it has been herself who has told in various interviews how she joined the ranks of the controversial band.
In April 2017, Lindsey gave a short interview to the monsterecords site.
Q: When or how did you find what you wanted to do?
L: Well, for art, it was something I always knew. I really didn't think about it. I realized that I wanted to go to art school as I grew up. While I was in school I started playing bass and I got into a band and then the music took over for a long time. Art was always my first love, music was secondary. It's not that I don't love music. Art is my right hand and music is my left. I don't want to be without one, but if I had to make a decision, I'd cut the left.
Q: How did you chase him?
Art: I went to college, and for music: I lied. My roommate bought a drum kit and I had a bass. She went to CBGB’S and boasted that we had a great band. Mindless had their last show there with their former bassist. His manager asked Asshole Dave, the goalie, who could be a good stand-in bassist. He recommended me, so I got a call from his manager, who gave me one of his CDs when he came to my art show. Jamie Hewlit, one of my favorite artists, made the album cover, so I thought about how bad they could be. I had to quickly learn three songs for an audition and I couldn't play bass. So a friend of mine came to show me what a tablature was and taught me. I spent every moment where I was awake to learn. It was a really decisive moment in my life. I learned that if you really work hard and work very hard at something, you will succeed.
I applied to the audition unsure of my abilities, but decided to stick with the position, so I filled a can of film with Bacardi 151. When the ten-second break in the song Tornado came, I ripped matches from my hair and blew fire all over the room. I almost caught Jimmy, the singer, on fire. I got the gig!
Another thing that she has also told in numerous interviews and that is known to all, is her previous punk band tribute to country singer Dolly Parton, called "Beg Yer Parton" where Lindsey was a bassist.
Q - When did you join MSI? You had no music experience, did you? I know you said before that you didn't even know what tablature was. How scary was it to jump straight into a touring band?
L: I joined MSI in 2001. Before, I had no formal training but had a bass and played with friends. It was very scary, jumping like that, but more than anything it was exciting. He had never been on a plane before and was suddenly flying to Las Vegas to perform in front of thousands of people. A lot of it was not knowing what I was getting into, but most of all I was hungry for an adventure. I also felt like I had nothing to lose and if I at least failed miserably I would have a great story to tell my friends. I think that was the key, that I didn't care if I failed miserably.
Q: How long did it take you to start getting comfortable playing bass? Was there anything in particular that helped you feel more comfortable with him before?
L: I was in the band on tour constantly for years before taking over the term bass. I will say that although I didn't really know how to play before MSI, when the opportunity presented itself, I made a commitment to learn and practice tomorrow, afternoon and evening. I have never understood the mentality that complicated equals good. My favorite bass lines have always been the simplest and if I had to list all of my favorite songs, none of them contain any crazy bass lines that only Les Claypool can master. In fact, they are probably so simple that I could teach you how to play them in an hour. I'd rather be Dee Dee Ramone than Flea.
Q - Rumor has it that you were ever in a punk band from Dolly Parton, true or false? (If false, I'm totally starting one!)
L: A truth! Beg Yer Parton was the name and it was great fun and very short lived. Did I mention it wrong? We were terrible, I think you should start your own punk rock band Dolly and do the woman justice.
So far everything in order, right? Very inspiring and novel.
The doubt arises when we look at the dates:
Lindsey allegedly joined MSI in 2001, giving us a 19-year gap between Lynz coming into contact with the band to this day.
But then why does Lucinda Montano (Steve's wife, MSI guitarist) say she has known her for 25 years?
Note that this capture is at least 2 years old from its posting on the lynzuglyliar blog. So what about the rest of the years Lucinda says? Either one must be lying, who will it be?
Recently on Twitter a woman named Charlsie Astrid made an appearance.
At first she was nothing more than a stranger, but when we investigated her twitter account we realized that she is followed by Lola, Jonathan Rivera (Gerard's friend and collaborator), Anna Milanollo (Lynz's watchdog), Weirdtrufax (the fake account Lynz), Lauren Valencia (recently deceased MCR manager), MSI, Aaron Hoye (Lindsey’s tech and witness to L's alleged infidelity in Russia according to Jessicka Addams), as well as Chantal Claret. Weird, no?
Charlsie defended Lindsey in one of her tweets, which is why several accounts began to question her about whether she was a faithful follower and advocate of MSI and LW.
Charlsie claims to be friends with Lindsey Way since they worked together as bartenders in Brooklyn. Recall that Lynz lived in Brooklyn during her stay in Pratt, which means that she was still in her student stage.
This girl said she was a friend of Lucinda Montano despite knowing Steve's infidelity with Lynz…. But wait a moment, so Steve, Lucinda and Lindsey knew each other long before Lynz's entry to MSI ?? So LW is the one who lied ???
It all sounds very strange. And if Steve was that "friend" who helped Lynz learn the songs for her “audition”? What if Steve really was the one who interceded for her to join the band? Maybe their romance could have happened a couple of years earlier. How comfortable it would be to have your lover in your same band to be with her under the guise of tours and concerts.
what do you think?? true or false?

Lost and Found (Mature/Prompt)
A note before you start: Tumblr took off all my italics and I didn’t want to re-read this to put them all back in lol. So, I’m sorry. But if you want to read this with, it’s up on wattpad and AO3 @/magicalreads in my book Rising Untangled!
~
Fridays at the joint always pulled the biggest of crowds, and tonight wasn't an exception.
"Go get em', Goldy," Tarot slipped his hand off of Rapunzel's bare shoulder so she could pull her shawl on and fix the pins holding the two rolls on top of her head. His teeth shone bright against dark skin as he smiled proudly. "Little Moonlight’s shining star!"
Rapunzel felt a rush of red flush her cheeks at the compliment. So desperate to get off the streets, Rapunzel hadn't even expected a glance from Tarot when she walked into his joint all but two years ago. She knew she was a sight for sore eyes, but time had been wearing her down to the bone, despite her young adulthood. She'd wasted too long in a blurry blast after high school was over and done with that she'd drunken herself dry—quite literally right to the pavement. Thinking about which hole she'd be in right about now hadn't it been for the Little Moonlight made her scared to bits.
"The socs are in tonight," Tarot added just before she could push the curtain aside. "Show em' a good time."
Rapunzel smiled right back. "I always do, Daddy-O," she promised. She only vaguely remembered feeling jittery her first time dancing in front of the socs, which was a tickle in itself considering she used to be a part of their crowd. She’d learned fairly quickly that their presence was something to be revelled in; They were quieter than the Moonlight’s usual customers, and their stacks of loose dough made her want to perform at the absolute tip top of her abilities.
The crowd cheered as she slowly curled against the curtain, taking her rightful place onstage as the music roared to life. Rapunzel moved seamlessly with the trumpets flaring against soft piano. Though she'd always preferred dancing the doo-wop, there was something about jazz that ignited a spark deep inside Rapunzel. It was nostalgic, a sound to get lost in, and it was perfect for a sleazy club like this one.
Rapunzel looked up to give a rewarding look to the table of socs sitting in the corner, impossible to miss, only to lock eyes with another man standing still in the crowd. The room erupted as Mer and Poppy strolled out behind Rapunzel, but his crystal blue eyes stayed firmly on her. The nerve of him! Showing up around her all week only to ignore her—or, worse yet, disappear—each time she’d craved from him approach her. The least he could have done was introduce himself like a proper gentleman. Then again, no proper gentleman would come here, if they weren’t hangin’ with the socs. Everyone worth a dime knew that being seen in a place like the Little Moonlight as a lone social was simply asking to be treated like a lowly greaser. Thing was, this man didn’t look like he was a part of either crowd. His attire screamed social, but his attitude yelled greaser. So which in the devil was he? Rapunzel had figured out how to woo the dough out of every kind of man who walked in here, but she couldn’t figure out how to wrap her finger around this odd ball. Hell, she wasn’t even sure she wanted to wrap her finger around him. She wasn’t even sure if…
Rapunzel practically shook her head mid-dance in realization. Enough not knowing. This was her territory, and she was in control here.
Easy as cutting a smooth slice of pie, Rapunzel tuned out the prying hey, dolly's from overly cranked men and shifted all her efforts into wooing the silver-haired one from her place on stage. She moved gracefully, long hair swishing to and fro, all the while never taking her eyes away from him for more than a second. No matter how much she hated to admit it to herself, Rapunzel didn’t want him to disappear again. There was a strange curiosity to him that she needed to figure out. He was a spark in the darkness she couldn’t help to be drawn to.
“A dreamboat that one, isn’t he?” Poppy commented over the sound, catching on to Rapunzel’s motives. Over the heads of bobbing men, she caught Merida smirking at her too. Rapunzel knew they’d be asking questions at the apartment later—no sense turning back now. And besides…
Their focus was on something else now. When Rapunzel turned to look, she was surprised to see Silver Hair moving through the crowd.
Toward the stage.
Her stomach flipped and flopped, an army of butterflies erupting through her. Cool it, Raps, she told herself. You’re being ridiculous. But her heart made no attempt to listen. She strutted toward the stranger, then crouched slightly on her heels until she found herself slightly higher than eye-level.
Something glimmered in the man’s eyes, a mixture of lust Rapunzel recognized all too well, but another she found herself completely at loss about. “Crescent Moon?” He asked, referencing to her show name. Tarot had been the one to suggest the change from her previous one once he’d deemed her the star of his joint.
“The one and only,” Rapunzel purred.
He lifted a hand, revealing a fan of dough between his fingertips. “Mind if I take you to the back?”
Rapunzel eyed him up and down. He was pretty. Scrawnier than her usual customers, wearing an unbuttoned light blue and white chemise tucked into sandy-coloured pants. His hair was lightly gelled into a trunk do, an alluring white she’d only ever seen on old folks. He was mesmerizing to watch, but that didn’t stop Rapunzel from standing right back up to her full height. She felt taller than she naturally was, and not only because of the stilettos on her feet. The socs loved getting what they wanted, and the greasers preferred a cat-and-mouse chase, so what would happen if she gave someone that was neither both?
“After the show.” She told him as she walk away. Only sparing him a single glance over her shoulder proved difficult. She’d expected him to disappear by the time the girls and she were done with their dance, and he did—or so she thought. She spotted a silver head quickly after, lurking by the back hall.
“Split the tips with Mer, Popsikins." Rapunzel gave her friend a wink, thinking of the doll of a shop they lived over. She didn’t need more money than what she’d earned in between her skin and underclothes. "Get yourself those rockin' shoes you were eyeing."
Poppy squealed as Rapunzel walked away, right past Silver Hair and into the hall. She could feel his eyes on her as she walked. Neither of them said a word until she pushed through a door. The man shut it behind them, taking one, two steps toward her. He stopped just before where she sat on the arm of the sofa.
“Nineteen.” Was all he said. Rapunzel expected more to come, but he simply stared at her as if she was supposed to understand what he’d meant.
“Dollars or minutes?”
The man shook his head. “Your age. You can be more than nineteen.”
Rapunzel shifted. “Twenty-two, actually.” It felt strange, saying that; She didn’t usually reveal her age to customers. Not that they ever asked, anywho. All they ever came for was a dance to make them forget their lousy lives outside of the club. More than a dance, if they were trusted to keep it under the table. The fuzz hadn’t caught em’ yet, and Tarot had no intention of getting a shut down.
“Just a year younger than me,” the man noted. “How’d a sweet girl like you end up in a place like this?”
“A sweet girl like—?” Rapunzel bit her tongue. Tarot’s rules included no talk backs, unless our fella’s were pushin’. And this man wasn’t even coming close to pushin’. "It's a gig,” she said instead. “And I enjoy it, in all truthfulness."
“But why?”
A laugh escaped Rapunzel’s lips. “Are you writing a book?”
Silver Hair shrugged. “I guess you can say that.”
Rapunzel shook her head slightly, mesmerized by his straight tone; No added lah-dee-dah lilted his voice. “You’ve such an odd way with words,” she said. “I didn’t mean it literally, though, if you are, congratulations. You’re just askin’ too many questions, is all.” Rapunzel cleared her throat when no reply was given. She motioned to the sofa, giving the man her best heavy-lidded, green-eyed look. “So, whatcha’ waitin’ for, then? Come on, have a seat.”
But the man closed his eyes briefly and breathed a soft sort of laugh. Then, he took a step back, offering a hand out to her. “Dance with me.”
Rapunzel lifted her brows in surprise. “You’re asking for a doo-wop?”
“Something a little slower,” a playful smirk grew on the man’s lips. “With a kiss, if you’re willing.”
A flush rushed to her cheeks, thankfully hidden by the dimmed yellow lights in the room. “The Little Moonlight doesn’t do no kissin’.”
“Even with special cases?”
Rapunzel breathed a short laugh and took the hand still being offered. She found herself being pulled tight against Silver Hair’s chest. “Alright,” she decided. “Razz my berries. What makes you a special case, mister…?”
“Jackson Overland,” he was quick to answer. “But call me Jack.” Hands slipped over her waist as Rapunzel lay her arms loosely around Jack’s neck. “And let’s see… I’m handsome, you like me, and I’m leaving tonight. I’ve already been here too long.”
“Leavin’ where?”
“Are you writing a book?”
Rapunzel couldn’t help but laugh. “I see. Peggin’ my own words against me. That’s not very gentlemanly of you.”
“Who says I’m a gentleman?” Jack spun her around, dropping her into a smooth dip. He brought his head down to her until his lips were but an inch from her own. The heat curling against her mouth warmed other parts of her. He dipped down slightly more, coming closer and closer, until he suddenly pulled her right back up to their earlier swing.
Rapunzel felt breathless. “Actor,” she mumbled playfully. But all she received from Jack was a frown.
“Slang?” He guessed after a moment.
“For a show off, yeah.” Rapunzel pushed Jack down, suddenly, right onto the sofa she knew they’d moved in front of. She fell swiftly with him, landing right on his lap. “Don’t cha leave the house?”
Jack grinned, hands tightening over her hips ever so slightly. “Haven’t been home in a while, actually.”
Rapunzel shifted on his lap, earning a pleasured groan in return. “Maybe this is a good time to go back.”
Jack grinned lazily, chuckling like she’d just told a panic-and-a-half. “I don’t think so.”
“Why not?” Rapunzel questioned. “Everyone should enjoy being home.”
Jack was quiet for a while as she rubbed her hands soothingly over his neck and shoulders. She couldn’t understand why he felt as intoxicating as he did. “I… Got in trouble,” he said finally, glancing her down and up again. “For stealing something and using it to travel.”
Rapunzel slipped a hand up to his cheek, petting her thumb over his skin. Her voice came out soft. “Why don’t cha bring it back?”
Jack leaned into her touch, whether out of consciousness or not, Rapunzel didn’t know. “I’ll be in a lot more trouble if do.”
She brushed the curl away from Jack’s forehead as he spoke, watching as it fell back into place. “Maybe it’s not as bad as you think it is.”
“I stole the only copy they successfully made, Rapunzel. It took them a year before they could make a replica. Trust me, it’s as bad as I think.”
Rapunzel stiffened at the mention of her name. No one knew her as someone outside of Crescent Moon here, save from the crew. “How did you—?”
A flash of hurt suddenly passed in Jack’s eyes. He looked away as soon as he caught her looking. “It doesn’t matter.” He said. Except, it did. He’d known her name all along! Was it a slip up? Did he even mean to let her know he knew?
“Of course it matters!” Rapunzel exclaimed. This had never happened before. She didn’t know what to do anymore, now that she’d lost her invisibility.
Rapunzel tried to step off of Jack, but his hands kept her still. “Wait!” He said. “Stay. Please. Let me… Let me explain.”
Reluctantly, she obliged. “Alrighty, then. Go on.”
Jack closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the sofa for a few seconds. He looked her right back in the eyes when he was done his thinking. “It took me years to find you again. You really don’t remember me, Punz?”
Punz. Something about the new nickname jogged at her memory, but nothing came forward.
“We met in 1951. You were seventeen; I was twenty. You were working at this diner, just about to graduate, and—When I stole the porter, it was an accident. I got myself in with the wrong gang, and I didn’t wanna go to jail. I didn’t know where to go so I… I pressed every button on the porter ended up jumping—right into that damn diner.”
Rapunzel was shaking her head now, refusing to remember. It felt the same as if a word she couldn’t pinpoint—but knew she knew—was hangin’ at the tip of her tongue. Rhona’s Diner. She never thought much about why she always took the long walk to the Little Moonlight.
“They caught us in ’64,” Jack continued. “You’d never seen the ocean, and you were finally ready to jump into the future, even if it was just by over a decade. They appeared right when we were about to—” He cut his gaze down, suddenly, red tinting his pale skin. But, despite the zorros, Rapunzel was surprised to hear how choked up his next words were getting. “We got separated, running. You didn’t know how to use the porter, so I had it.” She felt his finger play affectionately with the curls falling over her hips. He couldn’t look her in the eyes, but Rapunzel saw the pain written over him nonetheless. “I watched them take you, Punz. I watched them take you away from me.”
Rapunzel straightened in his lap as she took in a gulp of air. “If any of this is true, then what in the heaven’s am I doin’ here sittin’ in this joint?”
“They must’ve taken you in for questioning, probably about me,” Jack answered. “And then they obviously dropped you right back in your timeline like I’d hoped. Didn’t know why I was surprised to find out your memories about me were wiped. Those assholes.” He added, lost in thought.
“That’s why you weren’t approaching me all week,” Rapunzel realized. “You were waitin’ to see me run up to you all over the moon to have you back.”
Jack nodded. “I couldn’t stand talking to you like none of it ever happened.”
Rapunzel realized that her heart was quickening as she looked into his crystal blue eyes. She’d felt drawn to him from the moment she’d seen him walk by, something that had never happened to her before. And then when he appeared at the club…
It dawned on her, suddenly. Those two years she’d thought she’d lost to parties and shenanigans—they weren’t a blurred mess of alcohol-induced amnesia. She’d spent them with him. Workin’ at the diner. Travelling to the past.
Falling in love.
It dawned on her just as the fuzz appeared out of thin air behind them. She only had time to twist and catch Tarot’s apologetic eye before they lifted guns flashing bright blue sparks, and forced her and Jack into bad night’s sleep.

Otis Blackwell
Otis Blackwell (February 16, 1931 – May 6, 2002) was an American songwriter, singer, and pianist, whose work influenced rock and roll. His compositions include "Fever", recorded by Little Willie John; "Great Balls of Fire" and "Breathless", recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis; "Don't Be Cruel", "All Shook Up" and "Return to Sender" (with Winfield Scott), recorded by Elvis Presley; and "Handy Man", recorded by Jimmy Jones.
Biography
Blackwell was born in Brooklyn, New York. He learned to play the piano as a child and grew up listening to both R&B and country music.
His first success was winning a local talent contest ("Amateur Night") at the Apollo Theater, in Harlem, in 1952. This led to a recording contract with RCA and then with Jay-Dee. His first release was his own composition "Daddy Rolling Stone", which became a favorite in Jamaica, where it was recorded by Derek Martin. The song later became part of the Who's mod repertoire. Enjoying some early recording and performing success, he found his first love was songwriting and by 1955 had settled into the groove that he would ride for decades. His first successes as a songwriter came in 1956, when Little Willie John's R&B hit with the sultry "Fever" was an even bigger pop success for Peggy Lee, and "Don't Be Cruel" began a highly profitable association with Elvis Presley.
Blackwell was one of the leading African-American figures of early rock and roll, although he was not well known by the public. His own records never cracked the Top 40, yet he wrote million-selling songs for Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dee Clark and others. He also recruited other songwriters to write for Presley, such as Winfield Scott.
In the liner notes of Elvis' Golden Records (1958), Anne Fulchino, of RCA, wrote,
While sipping coffee, Steve Sholes pulled out a demonstration record of 'Don't Be Cruel' and told Elvis it was a new song written by Otis Blackwell, whom Elvis had long admired as a rhythm and blues artist. It took just a few bars to convince Presley that it was a perfect song for him, and he decided to cut it right away. Presley learned the song within minutes—he had an inherent musical sense—and in short order a great master was put on tape.It isn't often that the title of a song will create a whole new expression in Americana. 'All Shook Up' did exactly that. Youngsters and adults alike have made the phrase a common part of everyday usage. The background to the song itself is a rather interesting one. Since the huge success of 'Don't Be Cruel', Elvis had been anxious to record another song from the pen of Otis Blackwell. Eventually, Blackwell came around with 'All Shook Up' (first recorded by David Hill on Aladdin). Presley wasn't completely satisfied with the song, and with Blackwell's consent re-wrote part of the lyrics. Thus, as co-writer as well as artist, Presley produced his ninth consecutive gold record, his first in the year 1957.
During an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, Blackwell said he never met Presley in person. When he was having a contract dispute with his publishing company, he also wrote under the white-sounding pen name John Davenport. Blackwell composed more than a thousand songs, garnering worldwide sales of close to 200 million records. Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, asked Blackwell to appear in the Presley movie Girls! Girls! Girls!, for which he had written "Return to Sender", but a superstition about meeting Presley kept him from accepting.
In 1956, Blackwell gave "Don't Be Cruel" to friend Frankie Valli's group, the Four Lovers, but as they were recording it he asked to take it back and in turn gave it to the up-and-coming Presley. In exchange for this song he gave them "You're the Apple of My Eye", which became a chart hit for the Four Lovers (Billboard number 64). The song was performed on Ed Sullivan's television show that same year and was probably instrumental in at least shaping events for the group to eventually becoming the Four Seasons. A shortened version of "You're the Apple of My Eye" is also featured in the Broadway show "Jersey Boys".
As the tide of rock and roll receded, Blackwell recorded R&B songs for numerous labels, including Atlantic, MGM and Epic. In later years he was in semi-retirement, making only occasional live appearances.
In the 1980s, Blackwell toured and recorded with the Smithereens as his backing band for both live shows and studio recordings. The partnership produced two self-funded albums, "Let's Talk About Us" and "From the Beginning," which were released independently on Blackwell's ROC-CO imprint.
In 1991, Blackwell was paralyzed by a stroke. Three years later, Shanachie released the album Brace Yourself! A Tribute to Otis Blackwell, containing 15 songs written by Blackwell and recorded by the likes of Kris Kristofferson ("All Shook Up"), Blondie's Debbie Harry ("Don't Be Cruel"), the Smithereens ("Let's Talk About Us"), Graham Parker ("Paralyzed"), and Ronnie Spector ("Brace Yourself").
Blackwell died of a heart attack in 2002, in Nashville, Tennessee, and was interred in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in that city.
Awards and recognitions
Otis Blackwell was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1986 and in 1991 into the National Academy of Popular Music's Songwriters Hall of Fame. Blackwell's crowning moment came in the late 1980s when the Black Rock Coalition, a prominent organization of black rock musicians, led by Vernon Reid, the lead guitarist of the band, Living Colour, held a tribute for him at the Prospect Park Bandshell in his native Brooklyn. Many prominent musicians and singers took part including Blackwell himself, who performed an assortment of his best songs, including "One Broken Heart for Sale," "Back Trail," "Don't Be Cruel" and "Daddy Rolling Stone."
Blackwell was named one of the 2010 recipients of Ahmet Ertegun Award in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This category encompasses those who primarily work behind the scenes in the music industry.
Legacy
Blackwell was one of the greatest R&B songwriters of all time. His songwriting style is as uniquely identifiable as that of Leiber and Stoller, Chuck Berry, or Willie Dixon and helped redefine popular music in America in the 1950s. This is true even though he often collaborated with such partners as Winfield Scott, Eddie Cooley, and Jack Hammer. Blackwell was one of the most important innovators who helped invent the musical vocabulary of rock and roll at its very beginning. His works have been recorded by a host of major artists, including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, James Brown, the Who, Johnny Thunders, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Dolly Parton, Conway Twitty, the Judds, Carl Perkins and Peggy Lee, among numerous others. At other times in his career, Blackwell was also successful as a record producer, having helped turn out hits for artists as diverse as Connie Francis, Mahalia Jackson and Sal Mineo.
Songs
Songs composed by Blackwell, with the performers who made them famous, include the following:
"All Shook Up" (Elvis Presley)
"Don't Be Cruel" (Elvis Presley); inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002

101 Dalmatian Street Episode Suggestions for this Year
Well the new year is here and I’m getting excited on what’s gonna happen in the future. I am waiting for new episodes of 101 Dalmatian Street, but I feel that the creators are recycling some plots, so I wish they would do something that would be original. So here are my episode suggestions I would like them to do this year or the next. Whether you like or don’t like them, here’s what episodes I like them to make.
1. DJ-centered episode: I feel DJ is the only main pup who doesn’t have a centered episode of is own. Wish they would make an episode that would explore more of his personality.
2. Side characters episode: The dalmatians don’t have to be the main characters in every episode of the show. Wonder of they would make episodes for the side characters like Roxy and/or Pearl?
3. Doug & Dawkins episode: Dawkins always calls Doug by his real name rather than Dad. Maybe an episode where he finally calls Doug “Dad?”
4. How Doug & Delilah met: A possible origins story perhaps?
5. First appearance of Dodie Smith: He/She were the owner of the dalmatians until he/she moved in an island. An episode which would give him/her a full appearance or cameo?
6. Summer & Spike return: These two are likable and many wish for there return. So an episode where they visit London or the Dalmatians returning to Cornwall?
7. Any reference/cameo of Thunderbolt: If you may know, Thunderbolt was a character from the original 101 Dalmatians movie who is a dog who starred in a TV show the dalmatians loved watching. Maybe the creators would give any reference or cameo to him in a near future?
8. An episode where any of the pups are the main characters instead of Dylan and Dolly: Remember the Diva Pups short starring Triple D? Wish they would make something like that in the future episodes with Dylan and Dolly making cameos or no appearance at all.
9. A multiple dreams episode: It would be fun on what the pups are dreaming like Dylan going into space, Dolly riding a huge ramp while impressing Hansel, Deepak face-to-face with Guru Miaow, Dante’s wish of the world ending etc.
10. Dawkins or any of the other puppies having crushes: Would be fun and cute to have Dawkins (and any of the pups for a matter) developing a crush on someone else. And seriously, Dylan and Dolly shouldn’t be the only ones in the family to have crushes of their own.
11. Delgado-centered episode: Delgado has been given his share of episodes, but what about an episode where he is teased for being legless and only using wheels to move that would give him some interesting character development.
12. Dizzy & Dee Dee-centered episode: The two are known to be Dolly’s sidekicks, but what about an episode that would view more of their personalities.
13. The background pups having their own personalities: This one’s pretty obvious. I’ve been hearing a lot fan writers creating versions of the background pups based on the names they have given. Maybe the creators would give them personalities of their own based or not based on the fan’s interpretations?
So here are my episode suggestions for future episodes. Like’em or not, suggest anything on how you feel.
Oh, and Happy New Year!

101 Dalmatian Street: Age Scale (Headcanon)
So, after seeing @chelledoggo‘s headcanon post about Deepak’s age, I’ve thought some more about it and I’d like to share the entire age spectrum I came up with.. it’s also fully just headcanon but I wanna share anyway. As I said.. this is fully personal Headcanon and doesn’t have to fit up with others or later released canon for the show.
I’m going to use Human Age grouping for each.
18+: Doug and Delilah - I don’t feel like there’s much to be said.. they are the mom and dad of the household, so they gotta be older.. I don’t plan to really go into detail to how old they are specifically.. like 30 or 40, etc.
16-18: Dolly & Dylan - Also fairly short, both of them are usually tasked with taking care of the younger pups, but are still obviously not off age yet.. esspecially with Dolly mentioning the Teenage Rebellion phase in Snow Day.
13-16: Dante, DaVinci, Dawkins and the Dimitris - Hear me out on this one.. Dante certainly fits the “It’s not a phase, mom!” Steriotype and generally has a deep voice.. as well as him being the tallest of the pups after the already mentioned. (As easily seen in Flea-maggedon) In The Nose job, part 2, we also see that DaVinci is generally taller than the average pup, also her granted independence of being allowed to go and do street arting across town by herself gives an indication that she is one of the older pups. Dawkins certainly has a very desinct personality and is generally in charge of the technical things in the house, such as the food maschines, the voting maschine in All fired up and the wagg-a-meter in Power to the Puppies. He also looks taller than most of the others and generally is more matured.. He even seems to be capable of on short term being in charge of the house. (Walkies on the Wild Side ) The Dimitris I would place at the lower end of this part.. They are also a bit taller then average (also seen in The Nose Job, part 2) and seem to be getting into a self expression stage as the typical boys of the family.
11-13: Deepak, Tripple D, Delgado, Dizzy, Dee Dee.. (pretty much the rest of the so far develloped Pups) - This is the trickiest section I can really see here.. this mainly comes from the smaller variations in height compared to the bigger bulk of the pups in the show as well as their personalities in development. On the higher end of this I would probably put Deepak.. he might not have a a real noticeable diference in Height.. his personality is very far develloped actually.. He still seems to struggle to really get through with expressing himself however. The likes of Delgado, Dizzy and Dee Dee I would put right in the center.. Like Deepak they aren’t really taller than the others, but still seem to have had time to develop... yet still all 3 of them mostly come down to looking up to Dolly specifically. Tripple D I would put at the lower end of this spectrum.. they’re all comparatively small in size and despite being mature enough to be actors, they don’t really give me the feeling of them really being as grown up as most of the others.. Even when looking at their diva Style.. they still have me seeing them as farely young still and almost tame in comparison to some of the real world child actors you hear from.
8-11: The Bulk - Straight forward, this is where I would put the vast majority of the pups. No big explanation here.. in terms of character development most of the “general” pups feel more like a Hive Mind controlled by Trigger Words a lot.
1-2 : Dorothy - Not to much to say about her.. She’s the baby of the family, and has not learned to speak yet..

Marvel’s Eternals Trailer Song Is Sadder Than You Think
https://ift.tt/2QP5ZfC
Marvel’s first full-length Eternals trailer doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but it sets a mood. The film is directed and co-written by Chloé Zhao, who won Best Picture and Best Director for Nomadland, a heart-wrenching journey through a desolate landscape. The song featured in the Eternals trailer has been evoking tragic isolation for years. It played on an endless loop in 1999’s Girl, Interrupted. It foretold the zombie apocalypse in the first teaser trailers for The Walking Dead. But the song has even sadder roots than that.
“Throughout the years we have never interfered, until now,” we hear a disembodied female voice (likely Salma Hayek’s Ajak) observe in the trailer. If gods or goddesses stopped bad things from happening to good people, a lot of great music may never exist. The music for the song “The End of the World” was composed by New York City-born Arthur Kent. The lyrics were written by Sylvia Dee, a steady musical partner, who is best known for writing the words to Nat King Cole’s hit, “Too Young.”
Dee was 14 years old when she wrote the lyrics to “The End of the World.” In interviews, she said she drew on the sorrow of her father’s death. The song was written for Skeeter Davis, a country singer who joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1959, and hit the pop charts in 1960 with the song, “(I Can’t Help You) I’m Falling Too.” She would go on to score 41 country hits and eight pop smashes.
Skeeter got her childhood nickname because of her boundless energy. She was born Mary Frances Penick in a two-room cabin on a farm in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. She was the oldest of seven children, and wanted to be a country singer since birth. Her first success came early when she met Betty Jack Davis at a singing session at the Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, Kentucky. They were only related by a shared love of music, but Penick took on the last name of Davis and they formed country duo the Davis Sisters in 1947.
After a short stint with Fortune Records, their very first record for RCA, “I Forgot More Than You’ll Ever Know” was rated the top country song of 1953. It was the last time a female duo would hit the top spot until 1984, when The Judds’ landed their first No. 1 on the country charts, “Mama He’s Crazy.” The Davis Sisters’ song was still riding an eight-week run at No. 1 on the country charts on Aug. 2, 1953, when the two singers were involved in a head-on car crash. Skeeter was seriously injured. Betty Jack died in the accident.

Skeeter continued The Davis Sisters with Betty Jack’s sister, Georgia, until 1956. Davis moved to Nashville to record for RCA and had her first solo country hit in 1958 with “Lost to a Geisha Girl.” She also hit country’s Top 10 with “Set Him Free” in 1959, an “My Last Date with You,” and “Optimistic” in 1961.
“The End of the World” was recorded on June 8, 1962 at the RCA Studios in Nashville. Guitar virtuoso Chet Atkins produced the song, which featured Floyd Cramer on piano. When the song was released, radio disc jockeys favored the B-side, a pop standard called “Somebody Loves You.” But the legendary New York City DJ Scott Muni, one of the WABC “good guys,” flipped it over on the air, and listeners flipped over it.
The song was a historic crossover hit. It remains the first and only time a song cracked the Top 5 on all four Billboard charts. It peaked at No. 2 on The Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart, No. 1 on Billboard’s Easy Listening chart, and No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart. Billboard ranked it the No. 2 song of 1963.
The song has been covered hundreds of times by artists as diverse as The Mills Brothers, The Andrews Sisters, Bobby Darin, Dion, Twiggy, Patti Smith, The Carpenters, Nina Gordon of Veruca Salt, and “Misty Blue” singer Dorothy Moore. “The End of the World” has been cited as an inspiration by Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton, Lou Reed, and Lana Del Rey.
Skeeter Davis continued scoring hits, including a 1969 cover of The Kinks, “I’m a Lover (Not a Fighter),” and the gospel song “We Need a Lot More of Jesus,” which made the charts in 1970. She also recorded a version of anti-war song, “One Tin Soldier” in 1971. The song was also the theme to Billy Jack. It was sung by Jinx Dawson, who led the first satanic metal band Coven, which made the first public recording of a Satanic Ritual.
Davis also continued working with singing partners, scoring hits with songwriter Bobby Bare, Porter Wagoner, Don Bowman and George Hamilton IV. In 1973, Davis was suspended by the Grand Ole Opry for over a year. During a performance at the historic venue, she criticized the Nashville police for arresting a group of “Jesus people” at a local mall.
Davis died of breast cancer on Sept. 19, 2004. “The End of the World” was played at Davis’ and Chet Atkins’ funerals.

Marvel’s Eternals release date is Nov. 5, 2021.

TRIXIE MATTEL - BREAK YOUR HEART
[5.00]
Trixie... you're safe.
Alfred Soto: This drag queen takes advantage of an arrangement indebted to Robert "Mutt" Lange's production of Shania Twain: "country" element (in this case fiddle) as hook, dance programming, "Just What I Needed" carousel keyboards, indelible verse-chorus-verse. Unfortunately, her voice is as flexible as moist coffee grounds. "I never meant to pull you apart" is more poignant than she knows -- no one is moved.
[4]
Katherine St Asaph: Shania Twain's Up! -- following up the success of "That Don't Impress Me Much"'s dance remix -- was two albums entirely: a red pop version and a green country version (plus a blue "world" version, which most people forget with reason). "Break Your Heart" is like the green version of a crisp 2:30 punk-pop song -- and I do mean green version, the Pantone Greenery version, fiddles cranked to neon, Dolly aspirations to max. Thing is, the red version of Up! was better.
[6]
Nortey Dowuona: Thin, chugging popping guitars scream past bland, rigid radio country drums and struggling violin stabs and out of place drum programming while Trixie flops on top with a bland, thin purr.
[5]
Jonathan Bradley: The fiddles are mostly decoration; "Break Your Heart" sounds like a pop-punk band getting ready to unveil its latest mature career reinvention. What surprised me was how straight -- as in conventional -- it sounds for a single from a Drag Race alumna, though perhaps country is itself a form of camp. What disappointed me was how Mattel's weak and listless singing voice so fatally undermines what is otherwise a tightly written tune.
[4]
Will Adams: My main complaint with Drag Race affiliated music is that it fails to rise above novelty, so it's refreshing to see a queen be this invested in her craft -- in Trixie Mattel's case, airy country tunes. Unfortunately, her plainspoken vocal is a poor fit for a song with this much power pop aspiration; the chorus soars, she falls flat.
[5]
Anthony Easton: What surprises about this (and perhaps shouldn't) is how clean and clear a honky tonk voice Mattel has, and how explicit a point of view. Like most drag done very well, it is both an example of a form, and a burlesque of the form, a quality that can only be successfully done with extreme knowledge of the genre.
[9]
Edward Okulicz: Mattel's love of country is genuine, but this could still have been a pop pastiche of any genre. He's definitely competent at writing and singing a song, but not really a lot more. "Break Your Heart" is pretty thin and short without being punchy or particularly clever, emotionally affecting, funny, or sympathetic. I don't pretend to say that's a definitive list of country traits, but just about every country song I like is at least one of them.
[4]
Andy Hutchins: Obvious: the space for non-hegemonic voices in country music -- especially A.K.M. -- ought to be enormous and diverse, especially because few genres need a breeze blowing against the prevailing wind more. Less obvious: that means there should be room for a drag queen doing a not-particularly-queer wan take on late-'90s Jo Dee Messina's swaggering kiss-offs, one that barely distinguishes itself with verses that can't escape their cliches, a painful electric bridge, and a restrained chorus that seems largely to be limited because Brian Firkus can't really hit notes that would soar here, and for that to be generally unremarkable.
[4]
Alex Clifton: I want to care more about this song. I like Trixie, I want more queer country music, and I appreciate the fact that Trixie's gone an entirely different musical route than four-to-the-floor club music. But I'm left feeling "eh." It's fine, it's catchy, but Trixie's singing voice feels like it doesn't do her larger-than-life character any justice, and I suspect I wouldn't listen to this song if she hadn't done it.
