Huxley is such good disability representation for both mental and physical.
Physical through his not having legs and also not having hands. He talks a lot about not having bodily autonomy; before the addition of his spring, there’s a bit where he talks about having to be carried everywhere by others. With the addition of his spring (a mobility aid), he can finally go where he pleases, when he pleases.
He also has a cane, which he says helps him get things off of shelves and get up the stairs. This is also an aid, not only for walking but for getting things he needs without having to ask for help.
His mental disorder is also very well portrayed. He has some form of trauma, likely PTSD. This is shown through him becoming extremely scared and covering his head whenever Owner reaches into the dollhouse. Since he is a hand puppet, he associates hands with being controlled.
Another sad bit I would like to add it the threat of taking support systems and aids away as a punishment. After Daliah goes on a rant about how Huxley never listens to her, she threatens to take away his spring, since she was the one who gave it to him in the first place. She also breaks his cane out of rage at one point.
so while i’ve been moving & not in the best position to draw real polished stuff, i’ve been digging through the dialogue files of sos awl, and basically there’s dedicated a dedicated file just for the stuff your child overhears about individual NPCs (one for your son and one for your daughter)
a lot of extremely juicy tidbits, everyone in town is airing their dirty laundry in front of your child i guess!! the naughty, normal, and shy personalities usually overhear different things… not to mention the sons lines slightly vary from the daughters, and there’s different lines per chapter. and the lines carry different nuance in japanese and english, in AWL vs AnWL vs SE vs SOS AWL. so many possibilities…
HOWEVER…
a bunch of the secrets for individual npcs are just “What?”. this infuriated me because the first block of “What?” on the list starts with Nami and Rock, both of whom I am absolutely dying to know more about, and they are both victims of this mysterious plague pretty consistently
my first thought was that they were lines cut from the original, but after checking the message files for AWL (in english and japanese) they always said “what?”..
so if your child says “what?” often, just know that they’re probably trying to tell you an npc secret so obscure that the game itself has silenced them !
i kinda wanna organize the existing secrets/comments by character and post em, lmk if that would interest you or if seeing this stuff would ruin immersion/be boring. there’s so much lore that feels Buried but so tantalizingly close to the surface to me and now knowing how it works it feels like you would be unlikely to see it all even if you married everyone (unless i’m missing something)
anyway here’s some brainless rocks (free secret,! he is the only ‘human’ in AWL aware that he is inside of a video game)
Trying to enjoy the interesting and lore-rich world of Forspoken while avoiding thinking about how it’s most likely never going to be explored or expanded or touched upon ever again 🙃
His feet felt like they had been sewn with rocks, his knees begged to rest, his body cried for the warmth his husband used to give, it craved for his husbands touch. His hands tingled, the last remembrance of Jimmy still lingering there, and he relished in it, dragging his hands down his face. Scott begged the sick watchers who put them in this twisted game to give him back his canary.
Please don’t re-post my images/gifs/videos, thank you! 🧡
Well. Here it is. The Aqua item I’ve been dreading posting since the moment I received it. Did I have to post it? Not necessarily, no. But at the same time I feel like I HAVE to share this bizarre relic with you guys.
This is the item I was mentioning in This Post.
Yeah.
As an update, I couldn’t tell you if this shape was unintended or not, actually, as the whole game was actually sold with a risqué tone, as you can see from the original packaging these came in below:

Yeah that name wasn’t an unfortunate accident either, lol. According to this though, I’m a Real Pro at beating the game at least!
There are a good couple versions of this game from what I’ve seen, including the original version with just a bare hook and ring, the souvenir version, several different animal versions including the dog from mine, and even a Christmas themed one with a tree shaped tank and a Santa hook. Just WILD considering the original theming.
Another thing, this game was produced and sold in the 70’s, because of course it was. I actually managed to guess this before having it confirmed, and am just a little overly proud of that.
I don’t know how to conclude this post. Just look at this thing. The dog has an antenna. Free him.
