DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN | 1.09
Hey, this is it.
#Daredevil Born Again#Karedevil#Karen Page#Matt Murdock#ddba spoilers#Daredeviledit#Daredevil Spoilers#Not Revolution#GIF set#Mine#SEE they really needed to indicate that what happened to Foggy wasn't just a way to f**k Matt up and make Karen move away.#Maybe spend a minute on paperwork submission shots. An email. A brief text. Have Foggy excitedly brag to Matt and Karen that he has#something to show them tomorrow morning that is going to blow their minds#But no. They just expected that people would hang in there waiting for a point.#I have always loved the mystery solving aspect of this show and so I personally felt very disconnected with everything#for most of this season. So to just bring this up in the last 2 episodes feels a bit late.#But I do love them getting their sleuth on together. And I guess it makes sense if things changed now because Karen's back.#Like her departure paused everything and her arrival back is just as everything hits a new gear.#Matt wasn't meant to work this all out on his own.#I still think it wasn't worth Foggy's life but it's an interesting plot piece.#And I like Matt hyping Karen up at the beginning. Like no duh she's good at finding things - she was a reporter.#Matt should really invest in a coat so he isn't wandering around dressed like Daredevil in places that likely have cameras.#I'd say he could have borrowed one from Frank but... now I'm picturing that conversation and that seems a little farfetched.#Frank has like two outfits I doubt he has a coat he can lend out.#(The new gif limits are crazy FYI. I haven't done much giffing in years so it's so weird not trying to keep everything to less than 3MBs.)

Okay so I saw this post about dark percy (really him reaching his Limit and fighting full strength with everything he had) and I was imagining the potential fallout of that. Pretty bad, as you can guess.
The thing is a lot of percys strongest moments happen out of view of the olympians, especially in hoo. The hurricane atop the glacier in alaska, the poison scene in tartarus, bending the depression river and the one in the palace of nyx.
Stuff like the St Helens eruption got him washed up on an inescapable island literally removed from reality until calypso gave him the OK, the achillies curse he got tricked into losing by hera. Smaller moments, the minotaur, fighting ares, the stolen pirate ship, walking on water vs hyperion, freshwater sources, him knowing both Latin and Greek, they're more easily brushed off or at least mostly due to cunning, sword skills and sheer luck and grit.
But basically the olympians don't actually know the full extent of percys strength and divine power. They have hints - percy standing on the throne, winning against ares, his many victories - but what they aren't willing to brush aside in the heat of (an important) battle there have been pretty strong consequences for.
Heck, just look at Frank, he's no prodigy with weapons, he's polite and respectful, but his distant relation to two olympians letting him inherit shapeshifting earned him direct divine meddling and his life force tied to a hunk of half toasted firewood. Man is a honey bear with lactose intolerance and he was punished with a mythical death curse for being too strong.
If Percy's true strength came out, he would risk losing everything. His freedom, most certainly. If he wasn't straight up executed he might wind up in a Greek myth style imprisonment, the way of atlas, prometheus, calypso, or something like the myriad of ways Greek heroes met their end. Good scenario he survives a dozen curses and gets on with life with a dozen new disabilities, best case scenario he's stripped of every inch of divine power and dropped back to the mortal world, not even clear sighted. Total separation from the Greeks and Romans. Oh, annabeth would marry him either way, and his friends would hardly abandon him despite the gods wishes, but they'd hardly be able to see him, and no long range contact without the ability to IM him or vice versa.
All of that to say Percy is hiding his true strength from the gods themselves - maybe not consciously, and it's not even power he particularly wants - but if they ever find out?
It's game over.
But why is he so strong? I don't know. What I do know is that the half bloods of the books are so much stronger than the ones of myth. Used to be that divine blood would get you divine favour and a great fate whether you liked it or not. Maybe some cunning and bow skills. A spot of spell casting if you were really lucky. Achillies got his curse after he was born, Perseus had a dozen magic artifacts, orpheus had something going on but hercules is to my knowledge an outlier. Now? Everyone in camp has some special power. Flight, fire, necromancy, hypnotism, dream walking etc. However it's happening, half bloods are slowly but surely getting a lot, lot stronger every century that passes. Meta? I mean I guess. But.
What no one has done before is something that their godly parent couldn't.
Except.
Except Percy.
Except Percy, in tartarus, at his mental, emotional and physical limit, controlling poison with his mind, overpowering the goddess of poison in her home, making misery choke on misery. Feeling something in his chest crack. Doing something poseidon could not, and doing it better than the person who could.
Down there, hidden away from the gods, he evolved. For that brief moment, he did something, was something new.
And that was how the gods overthrew the titans.
And that's why they must never find out.
#In terms of extrapolating meta 'percy Jackson unknowingly being maybe the first of a new generation of increasingly powerful#Half bloods that would be in line with overthrowing the more powerful but complacent olympians as the next in the long line of toppling#Ancient and established lineages of divinity' has to be one of my favourites. Give it a few more centuries and they might actually be in#Danger lol#And the olympians would NOT be happy but would they solve the issue at its roots and stop having kids? Doubtful :)#Even just three of them who barely had anything to do with land or mortals couldn't keep it in their pants for more than half a century#Hestia and chiron remain the mvps as always lol#I got distracted from a story idea with lore dang it#pjo#pjo hoo toa#pjo series#pjo fandom#percy jackon and the olympians#heroes of olympus#percy jackson#Pjo dod#hoo series#pjo hoo#the heroes of olympus#perseus jackson#pjo meta

Personally the only byler doubt I have is Finn liking mileven stuff, including the fact he has improvised many mileven scenes. And the monologue ig?
i personally feel like Finn liking mileven is just to make it seem like byler isn't canon like if you see his past interviews you can CLEARLY see he doesn't like mileven and he gets a bit giddy when talking about byler
here's a collage of him talking about mileven:
here's one pic of him "talking" about byler this one is the interview where David says "oh he likes someone else" and we know that someone else is mike
this one is the same day as when Millie said "oh they're basically gonna get married" and Finn ROLLED HIS EYES AND SAID "you wish" (I'm not sure If this was the same interview or if they where talking about mileven but the text is proof)
finally he's been really awkward- and nervous in his most recent interview's (spefically the hell of a summer ones) where he's not even talking about stranger things. maybe he's afraid of accidently spoiling something???

Summary: The Rat Grinders actually fight the Bad Kids on the Hangman instead of just sending dragons and Adaine has to do some quick thinking.
"Adaine Abernant."
Adaine winced, clutching her head as Raulothim's Psychic Lance pierced her mind. It figured Oisin knew the spell. Raulothim was a dragon after all. She wondered if he learned it in class like her or if he'd come to school already familiar with the spell because of his dragon ancestor who was currently trying to swallow Gorgug, axe and all. She didn't wonder for too long though. There wasn't time.
"See what you can do with access to proper spell components?" Oisin called from the other side of the room, his tone mocking.
"That spell doesn't even have material components!" Adaine called back in spite of herself. Insulting her was one thing but getting basic spellcraft wrong while doing it? Unacceptable. She ignored his expression, smug from getting a rise out of her no doubt, and surveyed the battlefield. The Rat Grinders had caught them on their back foot. Things were going OK but they were playing defense. And no one was where they needed to be. Spellcasters too close to melee, fighters out of range. Only Gorgug was arguably in the right place but he was far too close to being dragon food for her liking. Fabian needed to be closer to the action, Riz needed cover, and she…
Adaine suppressed a smile, idea forming in her mind. She needed to be in punching distance.
"Scatter," she said, raising a hand. Five creatures: Gorgug, Riz, Fabian, Kristen…and Oisin.
Her party members didn't fight the spell, well used to the feeling of her magic working on them mid-battle and knowing that it never meant harm. As she moved them to more advantageous positions, she was hit with a flash of the future: Oisin resisting the spell. She reached out and nudged fate just a bit. Nearby, Ivy walked dangerously close to a breath weapon attack. Oisin startled, moved to grab her, and--pop. Suddenly, he was standing right next to Adaine who was already rearing her fist.
"Counterspell!" Oisin called, runes on his forearms glowing. The expression on his face was even more smug as the blue energy charging on her fist fizzled.
"Predictable," he said.
"Gullible," Adaine thought, halting her fist without following through on the punch and stomping her foot on the ground to activate the teleportation circle they were both now standing on. Because of course the boy with the empty house and unlimited funds would have a teleportation circle installed so he could have his friends over as often as possible. Teleportation via spell needed a willing creature but a Circle? That just needed proximity.
As the spell went off, she concentrated. The benefit of a teleportation circle was that it couldn't go wrong like a normal Teleport spell could. It wasn't supposed to anyway. But any magic could be tweaked if you pushed hard enough. She remembered winding up in the wrong room in the twisted version of Mordred inside Riz's briefcase and concentrated on that feeling. She was sure she was going to have a headache in the morning but that was more than a fair price. She wrenched control of the spell, just enough to force the circle to spit them out a little bit outside of the paired circle in Mordred. There was a flash of light and--forget having a headache tomorrow. Her head felt like it had been bashed in with a pickaxe the moment they landed on the floor of her bedroom. She didn't think she'd be able to get back up for a minute or two--she didn't even try. Oisin didn't seem to have that problem though. He got up and stood over her.
He smirked. "I thought the elven oracle was supposed to be more of a challenge. I knew we'd come out on top but I didn't think it'd be so easy." He raised his hands, readying a spell, but the sparks at his clawtips died as quickly as they were produced. He tried the spell again to the same result, too focused to notice the sudden subtle sheen to the patterns painted on her bedroom walls.
A Sending spell pinged in her mind. "Ten seconds, dear sister."
A smile played on Adaine's lips.
"What?" Oisin demanded.
"Just that you all have been so obsessed with being our nemeses this whole time. But that was never gonna happen with you and me. That position is already filled."
There was another flash of light and before it even cleared, Adaine felt the tingle of magic settling over her like a second skin. Her sister's abjurer's ward extending to cover her reflexively. Just beyond the ward, she could feel the temperature in the room start to drop--a side effect of the Cone of Cold that was about to erupt from Aelwyn's outstretched hands.
"You're familiar with my bitch of a sister, right?"
#dimension 20#fantasy high#adaine abernant#aelwyn abernant#oisin hakinvar#in honor of the nemesis ward never mechanically coming up all season here is a fic I wrote for a friend#i wrote this post rock the boat but pre ragenarok#and I gave the rat grinders the benefit of the doubt that they'd be a bit better in combat than they turned out being lol#sidenote: i love the epilogue we got for them in the finale!#even without the ward ever coming up I loved all their moments this season#(I know a teleportation circle takes a year to become permanent)#(I simply believe that that is a problem that could be solved with money)#(surely a chronomancer could do it faster)#anyway I choose to believe aelwyn has kicked ass on adaine's behalf at least once even though we've never seen it

Going insane thinking about Martlet at the end of the Aborted No Mercy Run.
You have a human standing before you. They have proven themself to be just as dangerous as your mentor said they'd be: through the Dark Ruins, Lower Snowdin, and the Dunes, they had carved out a trail of dust and death and misery. Dozens of your fellow monsters have fallen under their gun.
And yet! This human granted mercy to you and a bunch of half-rusted robots. Is that enough kindness within them to make them worthy of redemption? Should you let them go unpunished? Families have been irreparably destroyed, friends and fellow citizens have been slaughtered on their quest for vengeance. This wasn't some frightened kid defending themself; all of their actions--all of those deaths--were deliberate. If people knew that you took them in, they'd tear down your doors demanding bloodshed for all the grief this human inflicted on the Underground and brand you a villain. No matter what you do, whether it be to kill them or grant them mercy, dozens are dead regardless.
And yet, this human, Clover (though you're the only one who knows their name), isn't attacking you. Even when you've thrown away the only chance you had at defeating them, they're not attacking you. They're listening to your idea about staying with you, they either agree or hesitate at the prospect of staying with you before agreeing. They've agreed to put their tendency towards violence/dustshed behind them and to try to be peaceful. You've never been quite sure if you've made the best choices until after you've made them, but this one? In this moment, this one results in the least amount of violence and death between the two of you.
Is this the best choice and outcome for this situation? I don't know, I'm not qualified enough to answer that. But if it wasn't for Flowey's meddling, it would have worked.
#undertale yellow#i think a lot about the whole ''punitive vs restorative'' justice thing going on between Martlet and Clover in high LOVE routes.#had i been in Martlet's shoes in this situation i doubt i would have been able to toss the DT away and offer Clover a place to stay.#idk. it's complicated. i feel like everyone should be given the chance to improve themself if that's what they choose to do.#AND YET! i can't stop that monkey brain part of me that would be screaming to kill them. even though killing Clover would solve#nothing and all those citizens would be dead regardless.#in that way Martlet is a better person than I am. and yet! shouldn't the guilty be taught some sort of lesson???#even if it's not death shouldn't there be some sort of punishment? would punishment even be effective or am i seeking#out some form of retribution for my own sense of satisfaction?#i REALLY wish this was something that the fandom took more interest in because there's so much meat to this situation.#the ONLY difference between this version of Neutral Clover and the No Mercy Route Clover is a bunch of destroyed robots in a forgotten#part of the Underground. the same number of actual people are still dead.#char: martlet#char: clover

Mind empty just thinking about this parallel.
And realising SC’s protective instincts toward JW don't just stem from fear and a sense of duty but a need for redemption.
He wants to keep JW close and be kept in loop about all of his activities, he wants to prove to himself that he can protect and care.
This act of caring is not just about shielding JW from harm, it is becoming a source of healing for SC himself.
#백설공주에게 죽음을#black out#I'm not okay#the way they are both smiling at him#shows the amount of trust they have in this man#I doubt GJW knows how important he is to SC#he probably thinks the good old 형사님 is helping him due to a sense of righteousness and duty#I mean not that he isn't but this is a lot more than that#so obsessed with them#starts analyzing their feelings and emotios in the middle of the night#sad men with trauma#healing each other while solving crime on the side#that's my troop#blackout kdrama

I think there is a misconception in the fandom about how some of the jobs in the Wizarding world work.
I don't quite agree that Harry shouldn't be an Auror because it's not OOC for him. And the police system in the Wizarding world might be similar to the muggle one but there are differences.
And saying that he's like a cop, exactly as how it's viewed in the muggles world (especially American) isn't really true either.
There is a separation between Aurors and Hit Wizards (a bit like barristers and solicitors).
Just gonna summarise the wiki:
Aurors chase dark wizards like Hit wizards but unlike the latter, they are highly trained law enforcement who primarily deal with investigations. They are trained intensively for 3 years and only few can join. They must have "Exceed Expectations" (2nd highest grade) in basically everything. They also have a series of characters and aptitude tests. They're magically trained (not physically) especially in defense magic.
It's a special member of the ministry that is highly regarded. It's extremely difficult to qualify as one.
They must have knowledge on Dark Arts because they're investigating crimes related to it. And they apprehend Dark Wizards and Witches.
Though, they do have a sort of military training which relies on discipline and intelligence agency.
In conclusion, they're a specialised unit trained to investigate and occasionally fight against Dark Wizards and Dark arts. That's it.
Hit-wizards however, deal with highly dangerous combat situations, such as high-risk arrests and riot control. They back up Aurors to capture dark wizards. They're the ones arresting suspects (like Sirius) and most of their work is about maintaining the public order and dangerous situations.
Unlike Aurors who have abilities that are far beyond arresting suspects or investigation skills, Hit wizards are primarily a fighting and controlling force, not trained to investigate.
The stark difference is that Aurors are trained extensively in methods of criminal investigation, intelligence gathering and crime prevention (not repression at least not always), Hit wizards, again, are a force made for fighting and controlling the mass.
The equivalent for the Muggle word would, roughly, be like Homicide and Major Crime command/FBI equal to Aurors and Metropolitan Police/SWAT equal to Hit Wizards.
As we all know, Harry isn't someone who enjoys fighting because it's always life and death for him. But, he loves putting his nose into other people's business and investigating what's going on. Moreover, Harry is someone active: he would not just stand arms cross behind a DADA desk, watching the world burn down. He would partake in what's right, no matter the law. And lastly, Harry has always viewed the wizarding world as his home. Unlike with the Dursleys, Harry felt safe there. There is no scenario in which he wouldn't do everything he can to protect his home. He would fight against the corruption of the ministry because he would not stand back against injustice, he would face it.
That's a fundamental part of his character.
So no. Saying it doesn't make sense for him to become an Auror is to not know what an Auror is like and who Harry is. He definitely would become one. The right job, and qualification people look out when they talk about Aurors is actually, Hit-wizards, and yes, It wouldn't make sense for Harry to be one.
#ok that was long#but I think it's important to note that#it makes sense that he would become an Auror#a hit-wizard though?#I've got some doubts#He loves using his brain to connect dots#and solving crime#and protecting his people and home#taht's who he is#harry potter#harry james potter#hp#Hp discussion#Auror Harry#Aurors#Hit wizards#harry potter movies#Harry Potter books#Harry Potter fandom#harry potter discourse

Dick: Look. I know why you’re here. You don’t want Bludhaven’s problems spreading into your precious Gotham. And you don’t trust me to contain this. But the Haven is my personal crusade. Just like Gotham is yours. And I’ve been doing all right so far.
Bruce: I never means to intrude. I’m surprised to hear you talk about Gotham that way.
Dick: it’s not my hometown. I was born in a trailer by the big top. I never really had a hometown. Until now.
Bruce: I didn’t know you felt like that. But I understand. Well. That’s it then.
Dick: Damn.

why is "false accusations can ruin your life" so hard to believe when... rumors have been known to ruin peoples lives many times before??
#i honestly just think you're withholding empathy bc its easier for you to assume someone is bad than to put faith in people and give#them the benefit of the doubt.#and a lot of yall have convinced yourself hating men through and through and never sparing an inch of empathy is feminism somehow#and obviously with such a belief system its easier to just assume Men Bad than do any critical thinking or problem solving or anything#meaningfully helpful literally at all
