summary: you wake up to an empty bedroom, which isn't usually a good sign. but what you might find might not be too bad. OR, dean wants a normal life.
pairing: dean winchester x reader
word count: 1.7k+
warnings: fluff, surprise sam appearance, no specific pronouns used, no use of 'y/n'
a/n: it has been years since i've written any kind of fanfic, so please be gentle with me.
The moment your eyes fluttered open, you knew something wasn't right.
The air was a little too still, and your bed was a little too cold. There was no noise except for the gentle drip, drip, drip of the tap in your bathroom and the occasional rumbling of the bunker's old pipes. The light from your alarm clock illuminated the room in a dim red glow, and after rubbing the sleep from your eyes, you could just make out the time: 03:26.
You sat up slowly, squinting through the darkness to make out your surroundings. Your bedroom was in the same state you had left it in when you'd gone to bed, but there was something missing.
Rather, there was someone missing.
Dean's side of the bed was empty, the sheets strewn around haphazardly. There was no sign of him anywhere, not even the slightest thing to point you in his direction. You wondered if he'd had a nightmare and left the room to clear his thoughts.
You threw the blankets off your legs and shivered as the warmth from the covers instantly left you. Sliding your socked feet into your slippers, you wrapped your robe around your body, sighing in relief as the newfound warmth spread through you.
Despite being the only one in the room, you made sure to sneak out, careful not to make any noise. You tiptoed past Sam's room, knowing the smallest sound would wake him up—pure instinct.
There was no one in the library. Nor was there anyone in the kitchen. For the first time in what felt like a very long time, the bunker was empty. Normally, you were lulled to sleep by the faint clicks from Sam's keyboard or the light chatter from Cas or Jack, both of whom never needed to sleep –
A pang in your heart caused you to stop in your tracks.
Things were different now. The bunker was different. Two of the most important people in your life were gone, and you had no way of seeing them again. Despite your success in literally killing God, you couldn't help but mourn what used to be. You missed your little family, the little life you all made with each other.
You saw a faint flickering light from underneath the door to the "Dean-Cave" and heard a few familiar voices that made a smile creep onto your lips. Pushing the door open, you were greeted with the sight of just the person you were looking for.
Dean was fast asleep on one of the recliners, legs stretched out in front of him and neck craned at an awkward angle. A beer barely rested in his grasp as an episode of Scooby-Doo played on the flatscreen TV. Miracle was protectively curled around his feet, his big brown eyes staring up at you curiously.
You knew better than to wake Dean outright. For all you knew, there was a weapon expertly concealed and within arm's reach. Instead, you tiptoed into the room, reached for the TV remote, and turned down the volume slowly. Then, you took the beer from his hand and placed it on the side table before resting a gentle hand on his pyjama-covered knee, careful not to step on the dog.
"Dean," you whispered, thumb tracing gentle patterns.
Ever alert, Dean's eyes flickered open slowly. He looked around, confused for a moment, before his green eyes landed on you. For a moment, you worried that waking him was a mistake—he needed all the sleep he could get—but the faint smile that tugged on the corner of his mouth told you that you had done the right thing.
"Hey there, sleepyhead."
"Did I wake you?" His voice was laced with sleep, low and gravelly. If it wasn't three o'clock in the morning, your heart would have skipped a beat.
Oh, who were you kidding.
"No, no. You're okay," you smiled, standing back as Dean readjusted his position on the couch. He sat forward and winced as he stretched out his neck, finally rubbing his eyes. Miracle stood up, leaving the room with a huff, no doubt going back to your bedroom. "I woke up and you weren't there. I got worried."
"I'm good."
You raised a sceptical eyebrow.
"I'm good, promise," his tired eyes softened. "Just couldn't sleep before. Couldn't switch off."
You nodded in complete understanding. "Right."
You were going to try and get him to come back to bed—selfishly, you slept better when he was with you—but he just looked so damn comfortable in the recliner, you couldn't bring yourself to do it.
"You stay here," you said, voice still soft as a whisper. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I'm gonna go back to—"
"No, I'm awake now," he said, shooting you a pointed but playful look. He sat back in the recliner and patted his lap before stretching out his arms. "C'mere."
You used every ounce of energy you had to not run over and completely melt into his arms.
You moulded into him like a perfectly crafted puzzle piece, your legs and arms finding the most comfortable position almost instantly. Your head found its perfect spot somewhere just under the dip of his shoulder, and you couldn't help but breathe him in: smoke, beer, linen, and Dean. Your Dean.
"What were you thinkin' about?" you asked gently, wrapping one of your arms around his neck, your other hand intertwining with his. Dean was never really one to share his feelings, and though (with your help) he was starting to get better, there were times when you had to fight tooth and nail to bring down the steel walls he had put up.
According to him, it was one of your best strengths—being able to accept someone in their entirety, despite their faults, no matter how large. Your ability to empathise was beyond anything Dean could imagine. It was one of the reasons he loved and trusted you so deeply.
"Everythin'," he said with a sigh.
"Everything?" you repeated with a furrowed brow.
"Just," he began. "Everything that's happened. To Sammy. To me. To you. It's been a hell of a ride."
You nodded, trying to let your mind flick over the happier moments instead of the darker ones.
"It's been a lot," you agreed.
It was the understatement of the goddamn century.
"And I think about the people we lost," he paused, looking down at your interlaced fingers. "I think about every single one of 'em, all the goddamn time... And I wonder sometimes why I keep goin'."
You frowned, lips parted as you attempted to find some kind of response.
"But then I realised," he continued. "It's you."
You blinked. Once. Then twice. "Me?"
"After everythin', you're still here. I mean, you look at me like I'm some kinda hero or someth—"
"You are, Dean," you reassured. "I mean, you saved the entire world. More than once. You gotta stop saying you're not."
Dean sighed, the ghost of a smile playing on his lips. "See? All of that, and I’ve got nothin’ to give you."
"You give me everything just by being here. By coming home every day."
"You deserve more."
You rolled your eyes, sitting up to look at him directly with a firm, but loving look. This wasn’t a new conversation; in the past, the two of you had argued over whether or not you deserved Dean, or whether you deserved a life that was a little more sane… a little more normal. A life where you could wake up every day knowing that you didn't have to look over your shoulder and defend your every move.
These arguments usually resulted in screaming matches between the two of you.
Dean raised his hand, stopping you before you even got the chance to speak. "I didn’t mean that... I’ve been thinkin’... after tomorrow, that’s it.”
“What?”
“After tomorrow’s hunt. I’m done.”
You shook your head, disbelief quickly washing across your features. “You mean—?”
“I’m done.”
It felt like the air had been completely knocked from your lungs.
Done? You didn’t think such a concept existed for Dean. He had lived one way his entire life. Hunting was all he knew, all you knew. The idea of starting anew, starting fresh, was… oddly terrifying.
“I got a job application. I’ve filled it out—gonna hand it in at the end of the week.”
You could only shake your head in utter bewilderment.
“I’m tellin’ Sam tomorrow. He’s been thinkin’ about hanging it up too... for a while, I think.”
You had officially forgotten to breathe. You sucked in a deep breath, disguising your shock by clearing your throat. With wide eyes, you looked at Dean, thousands of words on the tip of your tongue, but none of them amounted to what you truly wanted to say.
You couldn't imagine it—waking up in the morning, working a 9-to-5 job, then heading back to a two-bedroom apartment in the middle of some city, drinking coffee, and going to meetings. You couldn't imagine leaving it all behind.
But then you looked at Dean, and for the first time, you noticed a hint of something different in his eyes. A spark of something that you just couldn't put your finger on. It was a look that made your insides buzz with a mixture of excitement and anxiety.
"Okay," was all you were able to say. "One more tomorrow. Then we're done."
"Deal."
You fell back into Dean's embrace and listened to the steady thump of his heartbeat. Your brain was filing through a hundred different thoughts at a million miles an hour, but the heaviness of your eyelids began to take over.
After tomorrow, everything would be over.
But everything would begin.
+++
When Sam woke that same morning—mind you, at a way more reasonable time than 3 a.m.—he also woke to a quiet bunker. There was no quiet chatter from you and Dean in the kitchen, no breakfast being made or coffee being brewed. It was silent.
He eventually found the two of you, curled up together on one of the recliners. He couldn’t imagine the position you were in being comfortable in any way, all squished together on the tiny couch, but the peaceful looks on both your faces made him pause.
It was still early, and you hadn’t planned on leaving for another few hours anyway. So Sam left you there. He could get everything ready himself.
Besides, it was only a simple vamp hunt.
a/n: that job application will continue to haunt my dreams

Ooo hii can I please request a Bucky x fem!reader where Y/n has had necromancy powers ever since she was a little girl (definitely made growing up hard because it’s hard to tell the difference when she’s talking to a ghost and when she’s talking to a living person , and the adults in her life never believed her). Now, as an adult, she lives with the Avengers at their HQ (not officially an Avenger, though Steve has been trying to convince her to become one for years). She had met Steve not that long after Loki’s attack on NY, he found a very overwhelmed Y/n talking to herself in an alley (a lot of people died after the attack so she would’ve had a lot of ghosts trying to talk to her), her eyes glow when she’s using her powers so Steve put two and two together that she’s probably a mutant. He convinced her to live with the Avengers and said he believes her when she tells him what she can do. Anyways, one day she somehow runs into The Winter Soldier (before CA: Winter Soldier), and Bucky has briefly woken up from being brainwashed and ran away from Hydra, and the two of them fall in love, only for Hydra to find him and force him back and Y/n ends up finding out she’s pregnant after he’s gone🥺. She refuses to tell her friends (The Avengers) who the father is and what happened to him but they promise they’ll be there for her🥺 She has a daughter and the Avengers help her raise her (Steve can’t help but think that this little girl is the spitting image of Bucky, but he knows it can’t be true because he “died” in 1945). Fast forward to after Steve finds out his best friend is alive, and he tracks him down to Romania, Steve brings Bucky back to the Avengers Compound (The Avengers never broke up) and the first person he sees is Y/n, with a 4 year old little girl who looks just like him🥺 (they’d both start crying and be so shook and run into each others arms🥺)
They’d have a lot of explaining to do to the other Avengers lol
Spitting Image Of Him » Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier
Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Enhanced!Female Reader with Steve Rogers/Captain America, the Avengers, and daughter Lucy
Summary: Bucky somehow manages to briefly escape HYDRA and meets you, which results in you and him falling in love and you having his daughter and Steve can’t help but notice how much your daughter looks like Bucky and you eventually explain everything to the Avengers.
Warnings: Fluff, language, pregnant!reader, mom!reader, dad!Bucky, HYDRA, crying, kissing, pet names
A/N: Thank you for the beautifully descriptive request @kpopgirlbtssvt 🩵
A/N #2: Bold text is note from HYDRA.
Written on my phone. My apologies for any mistakes.

Not long after Loki’s attack on New York, you could still hear the voices of the people who didn’t make it. You’ve had necromancy powers since you were a kid. Meaning, you can hear the voices of the ghosts of dead people and sometimes it’s hard for you to know if you’re talking to an alive person or not.
Today was one of those days of you. You could hear the voices of the people who didn’t make it from Loki’s attack. You made a beeline to an alleyway. You sat down on the concrete, leaning your back against the brick wall. You covered your ears to try to tune out the voices of those people, which works sometimes.
“Not real.” You kept repeating to yourself.
Steve’s enhanced hearing picked up the sound of a voice as he was walking down the street. He heard it coming from the alleyway he was about to walk past. He followed the sound of the voice, leading him to you. Steve saw you sitting on the ground with your ears covered.
“Ma’am, are you ok?” Steve asks softly.
You yelped when you heard a new voice. You uncovered your ears and looked up at the man. Your mind was all over the place that you couldn’t tell if he was a ghost or not.
“Are you a ghost?” You asked in a shaky voice.
“No.” He answers.
You continued to stare at him, trying to figure out if he’s alive or a ghost. Steve crouched down in front of you. You pressed yourself more against the brick wall.
“Can I see your hand?” He asks.
You silently stared at him for a few seconds before extending your hand to him. Steve gently put your hand on his chest where his heart is. You relaxed when you felt his heartbeat.
“I’m not a ghost.” He assures. “What’s your name?” He asks.
“Y/N.” You answered quietly.
“I’m Steve.” He introduces himself.
Steve watched your eyes glow. That was enough to tell him that you have powers of some kind.
“Come with me.” Steve says, standing up and holding his hand out to you.
“Where?” You asked, looking up at him.
“I’m going to help you out and give you a place to stay.” He says.
You slowly put your hand in his and stood up. Steve took you to the Avengers compound. You’ve seen the building from the outside, but you’ve never been inside before.
“What is this place?” You asked, looking around.
“Avengers compound.” Steve answers.
Steve lead you to the lounge room where the Avengers are.
“Guys, this is Y/N. She’s going to be staying with us.” Steve says to the Avengers.
The Avengers introduced themselves to you. You gave them a smile and shyly waved at them.
“I’ll show you to your room.” Steve says.
You nodded and followed him to the floor where the bedrooms are. Steve opened the door to an empty bedroom, allowing you to walk in the room first. The bedroom was already full with a bed, nightstand, dresser, and a TV. There was also a closet and a bathroom in there.
“My room is right next door if you ever need anything.” Steve says, pointing to the right.
You smiled and nodded.
“I’ll let you rest now. Let me know if you need anything.” He says.
You nodded and he left the room.
It didn’t take you long to adjust to living in the Avengers compound. It took a few weeks for you to adjust to your new living arrangements.
“Hey, Y/N.” Steve smiles as he walks in your room. “Have you thought any more about becoming an Avenger?” He asks as he sat down on your bed.
“No. The thought of it is cool, but I need more time to think about it.” You say.
“That’s ok. Take all the time you need.” He says softly, putting a comforting hand on your knee.
You smiled at him.
Later that same day, you were walking down the street. You weren’t sure where you were going. You just wanted to clear your mind. You were looking down at the ground as you were walking and you accidentally bumped into someone. You lost your balance and fell to the ground, making an “Oof” noise.
“Sorry.” The man says.
He holds out his hand for you. You looked up at him and put your hand in his. You gave him a smile as he helped you up.
“Thank you, sir.” You smiled.
“You’re welcome.” He smiles back. “I’m James, but everyone I know calls me Bucky.” He introduces himself.
“I’m Y/N.” You introduced yourself.
You couldn’t help but notice how handsome Bucky is. Bucky admired your beauty as well.
“You’re handsome.” You blurted out.
“Thank you, doll. You’re gorgeous as well.” Bucky says with a smile.
You blushed when he called you gorgeous. Goosebumps appeared on your skin when Bucky’s right hand cupped your cheek, his thumb rubbing against your skin.
“I have a strong feeling that we’re going to get along well.” He says softly.
“Me too.” You say, smiling up at him.
Over the next few days, you managed to sneak out of the compound without any of the Avengers noticing. You went to the small apartment Bucky is currently hiding out at. You and Bucky have your own knock when you two knock on the door so you two know it’s each other and not anyone else.
“Come in, doll.” Bucky whispers, taking a quick peak left and right to make sure you weren’t followed.
You quickly went inside his apartment. Bucky closed the door and locked it. He then greeted you with a sweet kiss. He put on his hands on your waist and pulled you against him. You smiled against his lips and put your hands on his chest.
“I was wondering when you were going to come by.” He says softly.
“I have to be sneaky around the people I live with when I leave.” You say with a small giggle.
You told Bucky that you live with a few people, but you didn’t tell him that they’re the Avengers. You don’t want him to think you and them are after him, in which you’re not. You and Bucky are still getting to know each other and have a good thing going.
“You know how much I love you?” He asks softly.
“The kisses you give me tell me how much you love me.” You smiled.
“I’ll give you more kisses to show you how much I love you.” He murmurs, kissing you sweetly and passionately.
You ended up losing track of time and spent the night with Bucky that night. As you were sleeping peacefully in Bucky’s arms, he heard all too familiar footsteps outside the door. His heart started pounding. He was expecting HYDRA or whoever was outside the door to break down the door, but it was just the opposite. He seen a folded piece of paper slide under the door and inside the apartment. Bucky carefully and quietly got out of bed so he didn’t wake you up. He picked up the paper and unfolded it, reading what it says. He used the street lights shining into the apartment as light to read.
Soldat, we know you escaped. We also know you got yourself a girlfriend. If you want her to stay unharmed, you return to us. If you don’t, you’ll see her all bruised and bloody. We will use force to make you return to us if we have to.
Bucky’s jaw clenched at the part of the note where they threatened to beat you bloody and bruised. He crumpled up the piece of paper and threw it somewhere in the apartment and ran his fingers through his long hair. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“Bucky?” You mumbled.
“Sorry, doll. I didn’t mean to wake you.” Bucky apologizes softly.
“It’s ok.” You rubbed your eyes and sat up, turning on the bedside lamp. “What are you doing up?” You asked.
Bucky walked over to the bed and sat down in front of you, putting his hands in yours.
“Remember when I told you about HYDRA?” He asks.
You nodded, waiting for him to continue.
“Well…” He starts in a shaky voice. “They found out I escaped and they threatened to hurt you if I don’t go back to them.” He explains.
“No.” You said, your heart dropping to the pit of your stomach. “Please don’t go back.” You pleaded, your voice cracking.
“I don’t want to go back, but I want you to be safe.” He says.
Bucky watched a tear roll down your cheek.
“It’s going to be ok, doll.” He whispers, pulling you in for a hug.
He let you cry it out for a few minutes before kissing you passionately. He wiped your tears away with his thumbs and looked deep in your eyes.
“I want you to know that I love you more than anything, babydoll.” He whispers.
“I love you too, Bucky.” You whispered back.
Bucky went back to HYDRA immediately. He didn’t want them to lay a finger on you so he did what they told him to do.
A few days later, you were staring at a positive pregnancy test. You were in shock that you didn’t know what to do at first. You didn’t even hear the bathroom door open.
“Y/N, are you ok?” Natasha asks softly.
You yelped and jumped when you heard her voice, dropping the pregnancy test on the bathroom floor. Natasha picked it up for you, her eyes widening when she seen that it’s positive.
“You’re pregnant?” She asks.
You nodded your head yes, nervously fiddling with your fingers. You were caught off guard when she hugged you. You hugged her back.
“Congratulations!” She smiles.
“Thank you, Nat.” You say quietly.
“Do you know who the father is?” She asks curiously.
“No.” You lied.
You then went to the conference room where Steve and the rest of the Avengers are. Natasha followed you behind you.
“Y/N has something to tell everyone.” Natasha says, putting a comforting hand on your shoulder.
The Avengers stopped what they were doing and turned their attention to you. You felt nervous as hell under their stares.
“I’m pregnant.” You announced to everyone.
Everyone jumped up from their seats to hug you and congratulate you. You smiled at them and thanked them.
“Do you know who the father is?” Steve asks.
“No.” You lied again.
You feel bad about lying to the Avengers about not knowing who the father is, but you don’t want them to know that it’s Bucky. Especially Steve. How do you tell your friend that you’re pregnant with his best friend’s baby? For now, you’re just going to keep it to yourself.
The Avengers were very helpful throughout your pregnancy. They got you what you need for the baby. They also set everything up in the nursery, putting girl stuff in there. When it was time for the baby to be born, Steve was right by your side during the whole thing. You had a baby girl and named her Lucy. Steve held her as you took a nap.
“You’re adorable.” Steve coos at Lucy, smiling down at her.
Steve hums to himself when he notices something interesting about Lucy.
“You know, you look like someone I knew years ago.” He says to her.
The more he looked at Lucy, the more he notices a resemblance of Bucky. His eyes widened.
No… could he be- no. Bucky fell off the train in 1945. He witnessed it.
4 YEARS LATER
The more Lucy grew and got older, she resembles Bucky even more. She just turned 4 and looks like a spitting image of him. Steve noticed it and it blew his mind how this little girl looks like his best friend. Lucy’s hair and eyes are the same colors as Bucky’s, along with her facial features.
“Are you sure you don’t know who the father is?” Steve asks you once more.
“I don’t know who he is.” You lied once again.
Steve didn’t want to keep badgering you on it so he dropped it. He still thought about his suspensions though.
If Bucky is alive, why didn’t he come find Steve? How did he even survive the fall off the train? No one can survive that.
“Uncle Steve!” Lucy shouts, snapping him out of his thoughts.
Steve smiles when he sees his niece running toward him. He picked her up and hugged her.
“I want to go to the park please.” She says, giving him her best puppy dog eyes.
“It’s too cold to go to the park, princess.” Steve says softly, referring to the snow outside.
Lucy huffed and crossed her arms over her chest with a pout on her face. Steve couldn’t help but smile at how cute she’s being.
“Why don’t you go color?” He suggests. “I have to talk to uncle Sam and aunt Natasha.” He says, gently putting her back down on the floor.
Lucy nods and runs to the lounge room where she left her coloring books and coloring supplies. Steve went to find Steve and Natasha, finding them in the conference room talking.
“Hey guys, I need your help with something.” Steve says.
“With what?” Sam asks.
“Tracking down someone.” He says.
“Who do you need to track down?” Natasha asks.
“My friend Bucky.” He says.
“I thought you said he fell off a train in 1945?” Sam says.
“I did, but now I’m thinking he somehow survived it.” He says.
“What makes you think that?” Natasha asks.
“Y/N’s daughter looks a lot like Bucky.” He says.
Sam and Natasha stared at Steve like he’s crazy.
“I know it sounds crazy, but I’m thinking that Bucky is Lucy’s father.” Steve says.
Sam’s and Natasha’s eyebrows shot up at his theory.
“Are you guys going to help me or not?” He asks.
Sam and Natasha agreed to help Steve. After a lot of research, Steve finally found the answers he was looking for. Bucky is alive and is hiding out in an apartment in Bucharest, Romania. Steve’s mind is blown. All this time, he thought his best friend was dead when he’s actually alive.
“Hey guys. Have you seen Lucy? It’s her lunchtime.” You say, poking your head in the conference room.
“She’s coloring in the lounge room.” Steve tells you.
After a couple days, Steve came up with a plan to get Bucky from Romania and bring him home. He told the Avengers to keep an eye on you so you didn’t suspect a thing. Steve was about to get on the quinjet, but Lucy stopped him before he could.
“Uncle Steve, where are you going?” Lucy asks before Steve got on the quinjet.
“I have something important to do.” Steve tells her.
“Is it a mission?” She asks curiously.
“Kinda.” He says.
“Can I come with you please?” She asks.
“I wish you could, but you can’t, sweetheart.” He says.
Lucy huffed loudly and crossed her arms over her chest with a pout on her face, sitting down on the floor. Steve crouched down in front of her.
“If it makes you feel better, I have a big girl mission for you.” Steve says.
“Big girl mission?” Lucy asks.
Steve smiles and nods.
“Your mission is to protect mommy till I get back.” He tells her.
“I can do that!” She says loudly.
Steve smiles and kissed the top of her head.
“I’ll be home before you know it, peanut.” He says, playfully ruffling her hair.
Lucy gave him a hug for good luck before running to find you. Steve smiles as he watched her to find you before getting on the quinjet.
“Mommy!” Lucy shouts throughout the compound.
“Yes, sweetie?” You say, walking out of the kitchen.
“I have a mission!” She announces, standing tall in front of you as if she were in the Army.
“Oh yea? What might that be?” You asked curiously.
“Uncle Steve gave me a big girl mission to protect while he’s gone.” She says.
“Ooh! I’m definitely going to be protected, princess.” You say.
“It’s Sergeant Princess!” She says.
“Oh, my apologies, Sarge.” You say, playfully saluting her.
Meanwhile, Steve found where Bucky is currently staying in Bucharest. The apartment Bucky has been staying is small, but it looks like he tried to make it as homey as he could. After a few minutes, Steve turned around to see Bucky standing a few feet behind him.
“Do you know who I am?” Steve asks.
Bucky stared at him silently for a few seconds before answering him.
“You’re Steve. I read about you in the museum.” Bucky finally answers.
Steve nods.
“I’m not here to fight you or anything. I’m here to bring you home where you belong.” Steve says.
“Where’s home?” Bucky asks.
“New York.” He says.
“Thanks for the offer, but I’m staying here.” He says.
Steve didn’t want to have to resort to you as an option, but it looks like he has no choice.
“Y/N Y/L/N.” Steve says.
“Y/N?” Bucky asks softly.
“Yes. Do you know her?” He asks curiously.
“Yes.” He said. “Is she ok?” He asks with worry in his voice.
“She’s more than ok, but she needs you more than you think.” He says softly.
“Take me to her.” He says.
Steve felt relieved that Bucky finally agreed to go home with him. Meanwhile, Lucy is being the mini Avenger Steve said she could be while he was gone. You, on the other hand, are curious to know why Steve went on a mission without any of the Avengers.
“Do you guys know why Steve went on a mission without any of you guys?” You asked the Avengers.
The didn’t say anything. They just shrugged their shoulders. You stared at them, narrowing your eyes a bit and crossed your arms over your chest, giving them the mom stare. They know that look all too well from when you give that look to Lucy.
“No matter how long you look at us like that, we’re not telling you where Steve went.” Tony says.
You sighed and went to see what your daughter is up to. You found Lucy in her bedroom playing with her stuffed animals and drawing on blank pieces of different colored construction paper.
“Hi, mommy!” Lucy smiles up at you. “Do you want to color with me?” She asks, holding up a piece of paper and a marker toward you.
“I would love to, sweetie.” You smiled.
You sat down on the floor across from her and started drawing doodles on the paper that Lucy handed you.
The next day, Steve brought Bucky to the compound. Bucky was nervous, but excited to see you.
“Sam, where’s Y/N?” Steve asks.
“She’s picking Lucy up from preschool. She should be back any minute.” Sam says.
“Who’s Lucy?” Bucky asks, looking from Sam to Steve.
Steve and Sam stayed quiet. Steve so desperately wanted to tell his best friend that Lucy is his daughter, but it’s not his place to tell him.
“Let’s just wait for Y/N.” Steve says.
You and Lucy walked in the lounge room a short moment later. You stopped in your tracks when you seen Bucky.
“Bucky?” You say, completely speechless.
“Hi, doll.” Bucky says softly and smiles.
You walked over to him and hugged him tightly. Bucky wrapped his arms around you, holding you close to him. Tears of happiness rolled down your cheeks, along with Bucky. Lucy was standing a couple feet away in a state of confusion.
“Mommy, who is he?” Lucy asks, pointing at Bucky.
You pulled away from Bucky and looked at your daughter. Bucky looked at her too, his eyes widening when he noticed that Lucy is a spitting image of him. Steve and Sam left the room, leaving the three of you alone so you can explain everything to Bucky and Lucy.
“I owe everyone an explanation and I might as well start with you two.” You say.
Bucky and Lucy sat down on the couch while you stood in front of nervously and fiddled with your fingers. You took a deep breath before saying anything.
“Bucky, I found out I was pregnant with your baby shortly after you went back to HYDRA. Lucy is your daughter. She’s 4 years old.” You explained.
Bucky’s eyes went wide when you said that. He’s in complete shock from what he just heard. Lucy looked up at him with a curious look on her face.
“You’re my daddy?” Lucy asks.
“I guess I am.” Bucky says.
Lucy crawled onto Bucky’s lap and hugged him. Bucky hugged her back. He felt a new warmth in his heart. You smiled at the two of them as they hugged.
“I’ll let you guys get to know each other while I explain everything to everyone else.” You say.
You left the room and went to the conference room where all of the Avengers are. All of them turned their attention to you when you walked in the room.
“I owe all of you an explanation.” You said nervously. “This may be a surprise to all of you, especially Steve.” You began. “First of all, let me start off by apologizing for lying to all of you. I do know who Lucy’s father is and her father is Bucky. Before I got pregnant with Lucy, him and I were in love.” You explained.
“Why didn’t you tell us?” Natasha asks.
“I don’t know.” You mumbled and shrugged.
You looked down to avoid eye contact with any of them. Steve walked over to you and hugged you.
“It’s ok. We understand.” Steve whispers.
“You do? You’re not mad at me?” You asked.
“I’m not mad.” He says softly.
You smiled and hugged him.
“Thanks for understanding.” You murmured. “I’m going to check on Lucy and Bucky.” You say.
You went back to the lounge room to see Lucy and Bucky getting along perfectly.
“I see you two are getting along very well.” You say.
“Me and daddy have the same color eyes!” Lucy says.
“That’s right, sweetie. You do.” You smiled.
You sat down on the couch next to Bucky.
“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner.” You apologized to Bucky.
“You don’t have to apologize, doll. I’m just happy you’re giving me a chance to be a father to Lucy.” Bucky says.
You smiled and pecked his lips softly.
“I love you, Bucky.” You murmured softly.
“I love you too, babydoll.” He whispers.
“I love you guys too!” Lucy chimes in.
“We love you, princess.” You and Bucky say in unison and gave her lovings.

౨ৎ PANIC ౨ৎ
masterlist / rules / requests & talks with me!
SUMMARY౨ৎ Oscar doesn’t mean to come off as a panicking first time father, but his little one is his whole world! How will that anxiety crawl up when and boil over when it’s her first Grand Prix?
PAIRING ౨ৎ Dad!Oscar Piastri x Fem!Reader
WARNINGS ౨ৎ oscar is just a nervous first time dad 😞
A/N ౨ৎ OSCAR REQUEST 🗣️, Sadie loves to terrorize Oscar, and I love that. A little menace she is.
OSCAR NEVER EXPECTED to be a father this young. He would have at least thought that he’d have a Championship, turn 25, or even get married before he had a child. But life had its own plans.
From the moment he first held her, everything else faded into the background. Racing, which had been the center of his universe, now revolved around his daughter. She was so small, so delicate, and every little noise she made sent his heart racing.
Oscar was known for being calm. Level headed. Realistic. Yet, when it came to his little girl, things changed. Drastically.
Everything was a threat. It started with the small things: a tiny cough, her first stumbles and falls when she first attempted walking, the way she’d put everything she found into her mouth. He tried to stay calm, telling himself that every parent worried, but it never took much for that anxiety to creep up on him. A trip to the playground turned into a mental obstacle course—every slide was too high, every swing too fast, and the idea of her falling down onto the wood chips make his skin crawl.
And now, it was the moment many fathers in Formula One would love: to see their children watch them race. But Oscar? He was a wreck.
`· . ୨୧⭒๋࣭ ⭑
The night was quiet in Australia, the moonlight shining through the blinds of his parents home you both decided to stay in before the start of the Grand Prix around the corner with the chirping crickets forming their own harmony outside. With Sadie finally asleep in Oscar’s arms, a small smile tugged at your lips before you spoke.
“You know… I’ve been thinking.”
Oscar glanced over softly, his eyes warm with affection. “You? Thinking? I’m bracing myself here.”
“Haha. Funny.” You took a deep breath, carefully choosing your words. “I was thinking… maybe we should take Sadie to the Australian GP. I know it’s her first one, but it could be a special experience for her. And for us. I mean, it’s your home race. Our home race.”
Oscar's fingers lightly brushed against Sadie's soft, downy hair as he shifted her gently in his arms. The quiet, tender moment was interrupted by your suggestion, and his brow furrowed slightly in concern.
“..What?” He questioned, his Aussie accent slipping through. The thought of having his little girl at the track, in the midst of the roaring engines and flashing cameras, made him feel uneasy. It wasn’t the fact it was a race that concerned him but rather how unpredictable it is.
“Let’s take Sadie to the Grand Prix this weekend.” You repeated.
“Are you sure?” he asked, his voice low. “It’s not exactly a calm environment. It’s loud, chaotic…”
You gently placed a hand on his arm, "I know, Oscar. But I think it would be good for her to see what you do, even if she’s too young to fully understand. It could be a special memory for us, and your Mum insists she comes with us for extra help."
Oscar’s grip tightened slightly on Sadie as he looked down at her peaceful face, her tiny hand curled around his thumb. “What if she gets scared? The noise alone could be overwhelming for her,” He murmured.
You leaned in closer, resting your head against his shoulder. “We’ll be right there with her. And she’ll have ear protection, and we’ll make sure she’s comfortable. Besides, she’ll be surrounded by people who love her, including your parents and sisters. It’ll be okay.”
Oscar didn’t seem convinced judging by his silence and expression on his face.
“Oscar, Sadie is a calm baby. Unusually calm.” You stated earning a small amused scoff, “Like how your Mum described you as a baby and kid kind of calm… without waking up screaming to be freed from the crib. She will be okay.”
Oscar sighed, feeling the weight of your words. You were right; Sadie was an unusually calm baby, a trait she no doubt inherited from him. But that didn’t stop the what-ifs from swirling around in his mind.
“Okay,” he said finally, his voice firmer now. “We’ll do it. We’ll take her to the Grand Prix.”
`· . ୨୧⭒๋࣭ ⭑
Stepping into the Australian sun, the warmth envelops you like a blanket, its golden rays reflecting off the bustling excitement of the Australian Grand Prix.
“Sweetheart, do you have her-“
“Yes Oscar, I have her ear protection, I have her spare clothes just in case, and the baby bag is hanging on her stroller.” You reply with a amused smile at his questioning as we entered the paddock.
Oscar gave a relieved nod, looking over at Sadie in his arms who was taking in her new surroundings. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself as you approached the McLaren garage.
The garage was abuzz with activity. Team members hurriedly prepared the cars, the unmistakable scent of gasoline and tire rubber filled the air, and mechanics shouted over the din of the crowd. Oscar's teammates and crew were working efficiently, their focus entirely on the task at hand.
As you reached the entrance to the McLaren garage, Oscar’s anxiety flared up again. “Do you think she’ll be okay in all this noise?” he asked, casting a worried glance at Sadie while he set her down, who seemed completely unfazed finding her balance.
“She’ll be fine, Oscar,” you reassured him, squeezing his hand. “Look at her. She’s curious, not scared. Besides, she’s got her daddy to protect her.”
Oscar smiled faintly at that, but the knots in his stomach refused to loosen. He glanced back at Sadie, who had wandered over to a stack of tires and was trying to peer around them. Every little movement she made seemed like a potential hazard in Oscar’s mind—what if she stumbled and hit her head? What if she got too close to something dangerous?
He quickly crossed the short distance to her, crouching down and gently steering her back toward the stroller. “Stay close, okay?” he said softly, trying to keep the panic out of his voice.
Sadie looked up at him with a small smile, her tiny hand gripping his finger as she babbled something incoherent. Oscar’s heart melted a little, but the tension remained.
You watched him, your heart aching for the way he was trying so hard to keep it together. “Oscar, she’s safe. I promise you-”
As if on cue, Sadie eyes lit up as she spotted the bright orange McLaren car. Oscar couldn’t help but smile at her reaction. It was the first time he’d seen her show interest in his world…. or really anything besides her family.
Yet, that moment didn’t last long.
Sadie, determined to explore, suddenly let go of Oscar’s hand and toddled off towards the car. Oscar’s heart skipped a beat as he scrambled after her, scooping her up just as she reached the edge of the garage. “No, no, no… not there.” he muttered, holding her close as he carried her back to the you and the relative safety of the stroller.
“She’s fast,” one of the mechanics chuckled, having witnessed the scene. “She’s like Verstappen on track!”
Oscar simply gave a embarrassed chuckle after his daughter’s attempts of adventure. Yet, Sadie’s terrorizing didn’t end there. As the day progressed, Oscar and you did your best to keep Sadie entertained and safe in the bustling environment of the McLaren garage in preparing for the race. Unfortunately, she seemed determined to explore every inch of the place, much to both of your guys’s dismay.
INSTANCE 1: TIRES
As Oscar tried to get a moment of calm in the garage, he put Sadie down for a quick break next to her stroller. He was just about to check in with his team when he heard a faint sound. Spinning around, he saw that Sadie had wriggled out of her stroller’s harness and was crawling towards a rack of tires.
Oscar’s heart raced as he dashed over, his eyes wide with panic. “That’s where we aren’t going, Missy.” he exclaimed, scooping her up just as she was about to pull herself up onto the stack. The tires wobble precariously, and Oscar’s breath caught in his throat. He held her tightly, his face pale as he glanced around to see if anyone had noticed his near disaster.
The surrounding mechanics, sensing his distress, quickly stepped in to stabilize the tires. One of them patted him on the back, “Seems to me she wants to be part of the pit crew already!”
“Maybe she’ll be the one changing your tires this race!” Another commented with a laugh.
Oscar forced a smile, but the worry lines on his forehead remained.
INSTANCE 2:
As Oscar prepared for the race, you took over watching Sadie, trying to keep her entertained while Oscar suited up. You were stationed near the McLaren garage entrance, making sure to keep a watchful eye on Sadie who was now sitting contentedly in her stroller—at least for the moment.
However, as you turned to chat with one of the team’s engineers, you heard a soft giggle followed by a rapid series of thumps. Turning quickly, you saw Sadie had somehow managed to wriggle out of her stroller again and was crawling towards a set of hydraulic jacks. The sight of her tiny fingers reaching out to touch the massive equipment made your heart skip a beat.
“Nu uh, little lady! We don’t touch that! No no.” you exclaimed, rushing over to her. But as you got closer, Sadie let out a giggle as you lifted her up into your arms.
“I’ve never seen a baby this eager to be with McLaren.” Charlotte smiled as she passed by. “Perhaps she should start working with me at communications to be with Oscar more often!”
You gave a slightly embarrassed laugh as you buckled her in, she reached out with a pout, clearly unhappy with being restrained. “I’m sorry, sweetie, but we have to stay safe,” you murmured, brushing her hair back.
The rest of the crew chuckled at the spectacle, but you could see the worried look on Oscar’s face as he came out of his room, suited up in his gear. “Everything okay?” he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
“Just a small adventure with the hydraulic jacks,” you said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood. “She’s fine now, but we might need to make sure all the escape routes are blocked off.”
Oscar gave a sigh, running a hand through his hair. “Noted…”
INSTANCE 3: THE LANDO OVERTAKE
As the tension in the garage reached a peak with the race fast approaching, Sadie’s curiosity showed no signs of waning. Oscar, now fully suited up and mentally bracing himself for the race, was still visibly on edge.
In the midst of the frantic pre-race preparations, you found yourself trying to keep Sadie entertained while Oscar finished his final checks with the team. However, Sadie’s attempts to explore had escalated to a full-blown quest for adventure.
The McLaren garage was abuzz with activity, but you kept a close eye on Sadie, who had recently discovered the appeal of the large, colorful tire barriers. She was reaching out, her small fingers attempting to grasp anything within her reach. Just as you managed to corral her back to the stroller, a familiar voice came from behind you both.
“Oscar, mate you look like you’ve went to hell and back.” Lando chuckled, approaching with a sympathetic grin. His eyes quickly darted to Sadie, who was now fixated on the box of tools that a mechanic handed her just to keep her occupied.
Oscar, still visibly stressed, gave a exhale, resting his head on your shoulder. “Lando, you have no idea. She’s like a magnet for trouble today.”
Lando and Sadie have met before, back when she was just born in a hospital visit.
Lando’s gaze softened as he crouched down to Sadie’s level, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Hey there, Sadie. How’s it going, little lady? You’ve grown up quite a bit haven’t you?” he questioned, trying to capture her attention.
Sadie’s tiny head turned toward Lando, her eyes wide with interest with the new face for today. The sight of Lando’s playful demeanor seemed to break through her persistent determination. For a moment, she was entranced by his animated expressions and the sound of his voice.
She reached out towards him, her earlier determination to explore seemingly melting away in the face of his playful antics. Lando’s antics were enough to draw a genuine smile from her, and she even let out a small giggle, her tiny fingers grasping at his brightly colored McLaren cap.
Oscar, watching from a short distance, let out a relieved breath as he saw Sadie’s attention shift from her previous distractions. It was as if Lando had managed to temporarily derail her adventurous spirit with nothing more than charm and a few well-timed funny faces.
Needless to say, Oscar was astonished. He spent a handful of hours trying to stop her from even wandering off and all it took was a a small talk and a funny face?
“I…wha… how?!”
“Having a niece helps out a lot when it comes to kids, y’know.”
All that was left now was race time.
POST RACE
After all the chaos, Oscar achieved a solid P4 just behind Lando. Truely a race to remember compared to first race last year.
When he finally emerged from the car, the first thing he did was seek out you and his daughter. He was visibly relieved to find her in one piece, though she had managed to wriggle out of her stroller again and was now playing with the cap that Lando had given her.
Lando, who had been keeping an eye on Sadie during the race, gave Oscar a sympathetic grin. “You survived the race and the baby chaos. You’re a hero in my book.”
Oscar chuckled, the tension easing from his shoulders. He scooped Sadie up, finally able to relax. “Thanks, Lando. I think I need a nap after all this.”
As the team cleaned up and you all walked out of the garage, Sadie clinging to Oscar’s neck and half-asleep after all her terrorism she caused in the McLaren garage. Happily, you could see the exhaustion in his eyes but also a newfound contentment.
“We aren’t taking her to another race are we?” You questioned.
“Unless we got a baby leash like Kevin suggested? Hell no.” Oscar huffed out in response.

“ I've eaten bigger birds than you for lunch, is that all you got?” Leo chuckled, hopping backwards as one of the thugs slashed at him. A lie, since he quite literally had run away from said ‘bigger guy’ just a little bit ago, but these mutant thugs wouldn't know that.
He’d stopped running when he realized those guys weren't following him, hopping down into an alley to see if he could find something to wear for the time being. It was still chilly, even as the sun was rising into the sky, and he wasn't sure how long he'd be out here.
After all, he'd yet to come up with a good plan.
All three of thugs were some kind of birds, though obviously Leo didn’t have the time or care to identify them.
The one attacking him screeched and slashed at him again with knife-sharp claws, barely missing his plastron. He could probably take these guys, but he had also just woken up, been ran out of his home and was fucking freezing.
Time for plan B.
“ As pheasant as it was talking with you, this is starting to get hawk-ward,”
He dodged another swipe and opened a portal, giving the oversized birds a quick salute as he stepped into it,
“ so I'm gonna go ahead and duck out while I still ca-”
He was cut off by a screech and the painful tug of one of the thugs grabbing his leg just before he made it into the portal.
It wrenched him out with a grip far stronger than he thought it'd be, the creature flinging him into the nearest wall with a CRACK!.
His shoulder burned with pain, a thin line of blood oozing down from a scratch there. He barely had a moment to cover it before he was slammed back into the wall, face pressed into the gritty bricks. That was gonna leave a mark for sure, especially because he was missing his mask.
His swords were on the ground, just next to his feet but still just a little too far too reach.
“ H-hey, don't get your feathers ruffled, guys!” He chuckled, fear creeping unto his chest. This felt a little too familiar. Like the leftover sensations of his nightmare were creeping into reality.
The thug holding him scoffed and pressed harder, sharp talons pressing into his scales.
“ all turtles this fuckin’ talkative or just you?”
Leo swallowed. Shit, what was he gonna do? No swords, and he was never really good at hand to hand combat. If he could just…
“ Hey, I'm the only talkin' turtle out there,” he tried to sound convincing, even if then hulking creature in his bedroom had been vaguely turtle-shaped, “ your whole flock as fowl-mouthed as you?”
That earned him another slam into the bricks, and a harder squeeze. Blood trickled down his face and into his eye, Leo blinking hard to try and clear it. He inches his right foot closer to his sword, if he could just distract him enough to break free…
He was starting to feel a bit lightheaded, though, and one more slam could easily be a concussion if he wasn't careful. Or worse. And trying to get home like that would be…yikes. So he had to time it just right.
“ Hey, what do you call-”
The joke has barely left his beak when something slammed into the thug, taking him down in an instant. There was a flash of red, purple and orange, and Leo quickly grabbed his swords. Whatever it was, they acted so fast he could barely keep up. Shit, maybe he already had a concussion. He hated treating those, keeping himself awake through’em was like torture!
He hurried to make a portal, turning to thank whoever it was, only to see the same hulking creature and the only slightly familiar faces of the two other guys from his room earlier.
He went cold from head to toe, falling backwards into the portal and letting it take him wherever it took him. He couldn't go home, they were following him.
Tracking him! But how - he has portaled, he had-
Leo swallowed as he landed firmly on his bed - despite not wanting to go home - and a new dread filled his stomach.
They must have put some kind of tracker on him while he slept. He sat up, the motion making him dizzy.
How the hell was he gonna get out of thus one?

o. buoy
If Satoru was forced to use some sort of ocean-related terminology to describe you, he’d say you’re a buoy.
You were the marine biology major. (What was the difference between that and oceanography? Satoru had no idea. You explained it to him at least twice though). Because of that, Satoru heard his fair share of marine terminology from you.
Buoys were those floating things at sea, the ones from Finding Nemo that had all the seagulls on it. You said they were guiding posts, gave heads up for reefs or they could be warnings for hazardous zones.
To Satoru, you were like an anchorless buoy that ー no matter how far he sailed ー he could never reach.
i. halocline
You’ve never felt permanent; not to Satoru.
You sooner felt like one of those quickly formed friendships you thought would last forever only for it to dwindle out as fast as it started. Then that person was just a forgotten name in your contacts list until you’re scrolling down and going ‘Who the hell is this? Delete’ without a second thought.
It was strange.
An oxymoron of the highest degree.
How did someone who was such a constant in his life from the moment you set foot in it simultaneously feel as impermanent as foam on the waves? One minute you were there, the next you weren’t. Satoru wasn’t sure when the fear of you disappearing entirely crept in.
When those looks started appearing on your face.
All he knew was that it started long before he started sleeping with you and it started long before you left.
One moment you’re hanging out ー undoubtedly doing something stupid. Singing the wrong lyrics to a song on the radio, putting Suguru’s hair in pigtails, watching María la del Barrio with Utahime who took one Spanish class and made telenovelas her entire personality for a month ー then you’d grow quiet and this far away look would be in your eyes. Satoru never knew where you went in those moments, but it wasn’t there.
So he’d do something to anchor you back to land. It didn’t have to be much.
A poke to the cheek,
a tickle to your side,
calling out to you,
sometimes he’d even play with your fingers.
It didn’t matter what he did as long as you’d blink and grin and go “what’s up?” and everything would feel right in the world.
It never would feel right long enough though; the look always came back and the feeling would persist.
When you sang songs in the car.
(“I can do it fast or slow, it really doesn’t matter, though. ‘Cause I’m a pro, what you say? You wanna take me toe to toe? Uh no, dude, I think so,” you’d rap Kel’s verse flawlessly like you’d rehearsed it for hours. “My style is phat and Immature’s got my back on this funky trackー” you pointed at Satoru enthusiastically.
“You want fries with that?” Satoru would point back with way too much passion for a line that went way too hard for what he was actually saying. “Coo coo ca-choo whatcha gonna do?”
Shoko would roll her eyes but she’d still be smiling when Suguru softly brought in the chorus with rhythmic bumps of his head, “watch me do my thing, I like to do my thing, watch me do my thing, everybody sayー”
Your head continued to bump along but you stopped singing along and looked out the window. Satoru remembered he threw his arm around your shoulders loudly belting the rest of the lyrics until you laughed and joined back in.)
When you indulged Utahime’s telenovela personality change.
(“[First], quit zoning out. I’m bored.”
“Hey, unlike you, I’m actually paying attention.”
“Oh yeah, then what’s been going on?”
“Soraya Montenegro is gasping in Spanish right now.”
“Can you both shut u- OH MY GODー”
“IS NO ONE GONNA STOP THIS BITCH?”)
And at parties.
(Satoru always knew you were about to leave when you made that face. Things could start perfectly at the beginning of the night. You’d finally skulk out of your cave like you were Gollum from Lord of the Rings and wave him over. The next moment? You were in deep thought while your friends made joke after joke, rip after rip.
“Sorry gang, but my lips don’t touch anything but Don Equis and Asahi,” you’d say with an air of regality not suited for a party of college students. “Maybe Corona if there’s nothing else. I’m not drinking… whatever this is. So I’m gonna head out, there’s a 24 hour liquor store around here somewhere.”
“You coming back?” Satoru didn’t know why he asked, he already knew what your answer would be.
“Nah, I think I’m done for the night. I’ll catch you guys later though.”
“I’ll walk you back to your place then.”)
He doesn’t know why he looked at your lips that night at the park.
You were friends, he liked being your friend. That’s all there was to it. It had always annoyed him up until that point when Suguru and Shoko joked the two of you were more like a couple than anything else. That he chased after you like a lovesick puppy, the pathetic but funny kind. He wasn’t sure why it annoyed him so much.
Maybe it was because it felt like it reduced everything about his friendship with you into that shit take that the opposite sex couldn’t just be friends.
Maybe it was something else entirely. He doesn’t know.
You weren’t permanent.
Not while you sat beside him in a park at who knows when in the morning and not even when you reassured him his life would work out the way he wanted and you touched him like he was something precious to you.
“Be careful I don’t disappear for months, spirited away by the sea folk on my Children of the Sea shit. I’ll come back to shore occasionally, mysterious as the sea itself.” You already were as mysterious as the sea itself.
“Even if you got spirited away, I’d just go and bring you right back.” Satoru meant it. Even if, more than anything, it felt more like he was making that promise to reassure himself. It didn’t matter how far off to the sea you went as long as Satoru could bring you back to the shore. “You’ve doomed yourself.” More specifically you said that to him. Maybe he should have taken it more of a warning than a light-hearted nudge.
“You said it first, remember?” You did. He remembered it as clear as day. He’d stumbled onto an unstable boat and you were a buoy far off in the distance.
“There’s no ditching me now, not even at sea.” So stay. That’s all Satoru needed you to do.
The sprinklers that decided to join in on the moment must have been a sign that he was in the middle of a prophecy that was going to be fulfilled whether he wanted it to or not. That’s why he kissed you first in the doorway of your bathroom when you just came to ask if he wanted tea.
Buoys are supposed to have anchors, right?
Maybe he could be yours.
When Satoru woke up the day after the first time you slept together, he woke up alone.
It wasn’t until he reached out an arm lazily to your side of the bed and he patted the mattress several times that he realized no one was there. The bed had long since gone cold so you had to have been gone for a while. Yes, you called five minutes later from McDonald’s cheerily going “Yooo, Satoru, I’m at Mickey D’s, what do you want?” Still it cemented your impermanence and that was only the first of many times he woke up by himself.
You could be out the house or in; Satoru preferred when you were in. Sometimes you’d be in the kitchen humming some unknown tune, other times you’d be watching TV on the couch. Either way, he could drape himself over you with a tired ‘morning’ and hold you close.
(“What are you wa- is that the new episode of Love is Blind?”
“Um… I only just started it two minutes ago?”
“[First], what the hell!? While I was asleep?!”)
From then on when Satoru saw those far away looks, he’d kiss you since it was on the table now. Satoru put everything into those kisses and you’d kiss him back just as hard.
Don’t go anywhere. He’d thread one hand into your hair and the other would pull your waist closer to his. Satoru didn’t want or need anything else. Stay.
You kissed him like you would.
It’s crazy how easily you could just slip away from everything like a ghost that hadn’t been there at all. It was shockingly apparent that impromptu trip you took to the beach in the middle of the semester.
Everyone had been together in awe of the bioluminescent dots in the sea and it donned on him you hadn’t said anything in a while. You were gone.
He’d painted his panic in his usual bravadoー nonchalant and grinning, claiming he was gonna go bother you for a bit.
It was a relief when he found you.
It was dreadful when he found you.
Satoru couldn’t see your face clearly but he could tell your look was intent on the sea and how it shined with the glow of a billion bright lights. If there was a ghost ship calling you out to the depths, Satoru knew you’d leave in a heartbeat.
You slowly became more noticeably distant from your group of mutual friends after that trip. It didn’t start immediately, you’d acted the same as usual at first. You still sang songs in the car, Utahime had grown out of her novela phase in favor of all of you losing your shit at the editing of Indian serial dramas and in between those moments Satoru found himself in your bed again.
It was around that time you started kissing his forehead; when the kisses started, that’s when you started drifting away from his orbit. You said it was homework, your profs telepathically communicating to increase your workload.
You alright?
What kind of sadists are your professors if you’re this busy?
Just let me know if you need me to come over some kind of distraction. Sorry for coming over earlier unannounced, I shouldn’t have assumed. Just wanted to make sure you were okay.
“Do you think she thinks I’m being clingy?” Satoru mumbled as he stared at your text that you were fine just dying from homework. You definitely thought he’s being clingy. He’d always been a bit clingy with his friends. He was probably more overbearing than usual though.
“Yes,” Kenjaku replied without missing a beat. “You’re gonna get dumped if you keep this up.”
God what does Suguru see in this guy? He’s like a fucking parasite. “I wasn’t asking you,” Satoru glared. “And she isn’t my girlfriend.”
Suguru snorted, running his hands through his boyfriend’s hair, “play nice both of you,” he said lightly and Satoru rolled his eyes. “But if [First] is saying she’s fine, then just trust that she’s fine. She’ll come back around when her workload decreases.”
Satoru glared with a pout, “you’re worried too, don’t act like it’s just me.”
“I never said it was, it’s just that between the two of us I’m handling it better. I sent her a surprise uber eats delivery yesterday.” Asshole, that was a brilliant idea. Satoru wished he thought of it first. Instead he asked Shoko to check on you; maybe you’d be more receptive if it wasn’t him bothering you for the tenth text in a row.
Shoko went to check on you. Apparently you were fine and Satoru was worrying for nothing. She even said that you would come and hang out with them soon. Some people might say it’s a bit petty to celebrate the failures of others. In another universe, Satoru might even agree with them. But in this universe, Satoru was a hater first and foremost. So if he and his friends wanted to go out to eat to celebrate the fact Zenin Naoya was bitching about a failing grade on an essay, he and his friends were going to go out and eat to celebrate Zenin Naoya failing his essay.
Apparently, you were all haters.
It was also just nice seeing you again. If Satoru was more poetic, he’d probably add a bunch of other things to that statement. It was just nice to have you back.
“Karma is probably gonna come back to clap us in the ass for celebrating someone getting a bad grade,” you snickered.
“Sounds like a problem for future us,” Suguru grinned with a twinkle in his eyes.
“We go to school with the Japanese version of Ben Shapiro,” Satoru choked on his strawberry smoothie when Shoko said that. “I think we’re covered on karma.”
“Y’all are terrible people,” Satoru clicked his tongue, shaking his head in disbelief and shame.
“Hey, good neighbor, this dinner was your idea,” you nudged him with a dry tone and a smile.
Satoru nudged back with a grin of his own.
Dinner was fun, lots of drinks and jokes. It was a non-alcoholic beverage sort of night. Shoko said it was because they’d clearly been drinking too much if Satoru of all people had gotten better with holding his liquor. Her point was fair but rude nonetheless yet when Satoru turned to whine for you to come to his defense, the distant glaze was over your eyes and your smile was smaller than it had been the last time he looked at it.
“[First],” your motion to close your apartment door stopped and you hummed with a raised eyebrow. Satoru felt more dread than usual that night. Something about the air had been different. The face you made felt different than it normally did. It was always distant, you were always far away, but tonight was the worst it had ever been. “We’re good, right?”
You look at him like he grew an extra four eyes. “Why wouldn’t we be?”
Satoru couldn’t meet your eyes as he shrugged wordlessly. You’d probably say he was being ridiculous and clingy if he mentioned anything but he couldn’t find anything else to say to make himself seem unbothered either.
You rolled your eyes with a grin before stretching your arms out wide. “You’re being overdramatic, you big baby. Come here, big guy,” Satoru pulled you in close, burying his nose in the corner of his neck. Despite welcoming your embrace, it did nothing to soothe Satoru’s anxieties.
“I’ll see you later, yeah?” Satoru asked without pulling away from you completely.
The way you smiled at him was warm but it still somehow felt unreadable. Satoru knew all of your smiles. Your happy ones,
the sad ones,
the one you made when Sora finally got into Smash.
The ones you made when you were mad that he was successfully charming his way out of you being mad at him.
Satoru didn’t know this one.
Despite that fact, Satoru let you cup his face in your hands and he let you stand on the tip of your toes to place a kiss on his forehead. “See you, Satoru.“
ii. undertow
Sleep didn’t come to Satoru after he laid in bed.
His head was too full as he kept running back through what you told him after he took you home.
You didn’t say you’d see him later.
You’re just being overdramatic, Satoru forced his eyes to close. You’re always overdramatic. It’s my best trait 30% of the time.
No one else said anything that night, it was just him who felt like this, right? It was always just him. If everyone else felt like something was off all night, someone would have mentioned it by now. With that, Satoru forced his eyes closed for all of five minutes before he decided to send, at the very least, a dumb meme. Something that’d make you laugh when you saw it and would make you reply “I’m wheezing” or “that’s so us!”
A quick stroll through his photos was all it took to find something suitable. He can’t remember exactly what it was, only that it was stupid.
It was stupid and didn’t go through to your phone.
A disconnect and reconnect dance to his wifi later and it still didn’t go through.
Satoru’s feet was on the pavement before not even a heartbeat after he calmly made sure his apartment was locked.
He just had to be sure you were okay. It was just him being an overdramatic, big baby. Your phone died or something and that’s why nothing was going through. Or maybe this was like the time you put your phone in airplane mode to narrowly avoid sending Shoko the wrong meme and then forgot to switch it back off.
You don’t answer the door when he knocks and he goes back and forth between knocking and trying to reach you on your other socials.

It’s like you were never there, gone from all the group chats and servers you once shared.
Satoru stayed outside of your apartment for the better part of an hour before one of your neighbors opened her door tired and annoyed.
“Dude, do you know what time it is?” Your neighbor asked groggily. She’s a nice girl, the reason rent was low enough in the area you could afford an apartment on your own. Apparently she wrecked shit in the neighborhood on the low to keep the rent down. Even better was the fact she was the landlord’s daughter. Not all heroes wore capes.
“Sorry,” Satoru knew he must look like a maniac with his messy hair and wide eyes. “have you seen [First]? I’m having a hard time reaching her.”
The neighbor gave him a funny look, “she moved out tonight,” she told him like that was the fifth time she told him that her favorite color was orange. “I thought it was weird you didn’t help with moving her stuff out a few days ago. She gave me the key to give it to my dad tomorrow. Didn’t she tell you she was leaving?”
iii. la niña
Satoru didn’t know which was worse sometimesー the fact Shoko kept the fact he had a daughter a secret for five years or how he found out.
It wasn’t like Shoko approached him one gloomy night when memories of the most prominent ghost in his life began bubbling to the surface. She didn’t grimly say that she needed to tell him something and he should sit down for it. She didn’t start off with apologies, saying she felt she had no choice or that if things had gone different she would have told him.
None of that happened.
Satoru found out by accident.
Accident.
All because Shoko didn’t hear him approach her when she was on her phone scrolling through instagram. She was so focused on whatever she was looking at, she didn’t even notice how Satoru quietly snickered to himself and snuck behind her to give her spook. He was just about to say something, ready for swears and ‘you’re so annoying, what are you 12?!’s when he took an instinctual glance at her phone and he saw you.
Thoughts of scaring Shoko went out the window in a matter of milliseconds. He didn’t even feel his body move when he snatched her phone out of her hand.
“Heyー” Shoko started with an offended hiss but when she looked over her shoulder, she looked like she saw an impending storm and her jaw clamped shut.
Satoru took in the photo like it was the last thing he’d ever see. You were dressed in a blue t-shirt and cream colored shorts, some aquarium’s logo stitched into your clothes. You were holding a kid, hugging her tightly and kissing her cheek while the girl was caught mid-giggle. And when Satoru looked at the little girl in your arms, it was his eyes that looked back.
“I- she told me not to say anything,” Shoko murmured, brown eyes looking anywhere but at him. Then the secrets came rolling out one after the other.
“If I didn’t see this picture,” Satoru’s grip tightened on Shoko’s phone to ground himself to the present. “Were you still going to keep this a secret from me?”
Her answer was silence.
iv. el niño
“I have to be honest,” from the corner of your eye, you see Satoru chasing after Itsuki, Nanako and Mimiko. Suguru is watching next to you on the bench, your respective care bags for accidents and playground injuries at the ready between you. “I thought I’d be more surprised you’re a dad now. But it kinda just makes sense. You always had ‘single mom’ energy in school.”
Brown eyes flash with recognition, “you had a dream about me adopting kids once, right?”
“No, I had a dream where you were off a perk and calling people without powers ‘monkeys’,” you correct your old friend petulantly. As if he should have remembered after all these years without contact. “You just happened to adopt children in the process of all that.”
Suguru snorts, “my apologies for getting the details wrong. So you had a dream that I adopted kids once and that I was off a perk.”
“Exactly, thank you.”
A silence somewhere between comfortable and awkward settles over the two of you, save for the squeals of little girls and Satoru’s manic laughter as the evil sorcerer king.
Suguru looks nice.
He’s still rocking the man bun but he’s opted to let some of his hair hang loose and he’s a couple hundred pounds down a shitty, parasitic boyfriend. Suguru and Kenjaku broke up halfway through the semester after you transferred. “Before you ask, yes, we had dinner to celebrate,” Suguru told you when you saw him for the first time in years a few days ago.
You’ve had your fair share of private updates on the lives of your old friends you didn’t keep in contact with. Shoko kept you up to date on everything. A surprising number of your old friends had gone into the field of educationー Utahime, Suguru and Satoru. You wonder how Satoru’s parents reacted to that information. You have yet to ask; it seemed like too much of a mood killer when Satoru happily recounted stories about his students a few weeks ago.
When Itsuki almost trips you make to stand but Satoru catches her before you can blink.
“He’s pretty good with her,” Suguru says like he’s a mind reader. “There was this kid we used to babysit, Riko, when we were younger. He said he hated it but he’s always been pretty good with kids.”
You can believe it. There’s plenty of things you remember Satoru complaining about despite his inherent talents in them. It makes you want to cry sometimes seeing how good he is with Itsuki. Your daughter is smart enough to play neutral when he asks but you’re pretty sure your daughter has a favorite parent. Adorable little traitor, you laugh softly to yourself. You’d think five years would give someone an edge.
Five years.
“Are you… mad?” You look at your old friend from the corner of your eye.
Suguru takes his time answering, mulling over unknown thoughts in his head. Playful as you remember Suguru being, he’s always been introspective. He thinks before he acts, lets things slowly come to a boil before turning off the stovetop. “I was more worried than mad to start,” he finally speaks. “It’s not everyday an entire group of people gets ghosted. I’m a little mad you didn’t open up though.”
Your smile is small and your eyebrows knit apologetically.
“But at the end of the day, this is nothing compared to what went down between Satoru and me in high school. So I guess I can forgive you.” You never did get the story about Satoru and Suguru’s mysterious high school turning point. The itch to know all the details is minor compared to the way your shoulders relax when Suguru shoots you a familiar smile. I missed you too. “Just don’t do anymore disappearing acts.” Smooth as they come, Suguru raises a closed fist just above your care bags.
Smile a bit more grand, you bump the side of your fist to his. “I can happily vouch that it won’t be happening again.”
“Good. It’s nice to have you back.”
“It’s nice being back.”
v. sea state
“Did you get an undercut?”
“Yeah, a while ago,” Satoru grins. “I look nice, right?”
“Please accept the compliment normally so your arrogance doesn’t rub off on our daughter,” you shake your head but a good-natured grin is plastered on your face. “Itsuki, make sure Daddy behaves. You’re in charge as the honorary aquarist.”
Itsuki’s eyes fill with delight at the duty bestowed upon her. “I will,” she promises, chest puffed with as much pride as a five year old can produce. It’s a rare day off in the middle of the week for Satoru. Normally he’s confined to his school during these hours, but thanks to some school holiday you scheduled in advance for him to take Itsuki around your aquarium. It isn’t the first time Itsuki’s been, you’d taken her there before she could even walk. It might as well be her first visit though from how she’s beaming. “Daddy, you have to be good so Mommy doesn’t get mad.”
“As you command, general,” Satoru salutes playfully, picking Itsuki up in his arms. “Now then, if you excuse us, this father-daughter duo is gonna enjoy the aquarium while you work.”
“Bup bup bup,” you tut before the man can take off. “At least let me get my goodbye kiss before you run off to have fun without me,” you peck Itsuki’s cheek once, twice before blowing a raspberry and she squeals. “Alright,” you place your hands on your hips. “You two go have fun. Tell Daddy all the names you gave the whale sharks, okay?”
You think that’s that until Itsuki innocently asks, “where’s Daddy’s kiss, Mommy?” You blink once. Maybe you misheard- “You’re supposed to give both of us goodbye kisses, aren’t you?” Apparently you haven’t.
“I think Daddy’s too old for goodbye kisses, Itsuki.”
Itsuki squints, unsatisfied with your answer, “but Grandma always kisses Granny and they’re ancient.”
Why do your parents have to have a long lasting and fulfilling love life?
You and Satoru share an awkward smile as you both wonder what either of you can do to get out of this situation. Kissing Satoru used to be as easy as breathing. He’s always been the more affectionate of the two of you and it rubbed off on you some time during your university days. But you’re not in university anymore and your relationship has most definitely changed since then.
Still with bated breath, you gesture for Satoru to bring his head low enough for you to kiss his forehead, “there. Now both of you go have fun.”
If you think you see Satoru’s expression dim, he’s all smiles the moment you blink. “Try not to be jealous when you see us feeding the stingrays, [First].” He’s gone before you can tease you’re the one of the employees that help with that.
Once a maelstrom, always a maelstrom.
You love your place of work, it always has a familiar noisy sort of peaceful bathed in the light of blue decorated in corals, pinks and purples. Aquariums have a special magic to them. You fell in love with the sea when you were young and never fell out. The magic somehow is renewed every time you clock in, even on the most trying days.
How can you not when you see the dozens of people that stop by with the same love?
How can you not when you see dozens of people that stop by and fall in love with it for the first time?
“Hi, Mommy!” You hear Itsuki call from a distance. You wonder how she can even see you when you look up and see she’s on Satoru’s shoulders. It’s so natural, the two of them together. She’s wearing his sunglasses, if you can really say that. They keep sliding off her face but she holds onto them resolutely and Satoru is smiling widely in front of the tank full of black tip reef sharks, whale sharks and dozens of other fish in between.
You don’t know how your heart can fill with even more affection than you thought possible but it does. “Hi, baby,” you wave back. “I love you!”
“I love you too!” I have to enjoy that before she gets old enough to start thinking she’s too cool to tell her mom I love you. You know Satoru should too when you see her lean over to plant her father an awkward kiss on his head. You can’t hear what she tells him but you can guess she must be saying she loves him. Even from his profile, you can tell Satoru is saying he loves her back from how adoringly he looks up at her.
You see Itsuki giggling and saying something else you can’t hear, looking down at her father in earnest.
Whatever it is she says, Satoru looks over at you with eyes that are wide and somehow reflect all of the blue from tank lights. Despite how it makes your heart twist, you give him another small wave. When he doesn’t wave back, you wonder what it is your daughter could have said that had him in such a stupor.
Whatever he says to Itsuki, his eyes stay on you while he says it.
vi. nearshore
“Do you still like the same brand of honey or no?” You call over your shoulder from the kitchen.
It’s unusually quiet in your apartment since Itsuki is at your parents’ house for the weekend. You only realized you’d forgotten to tell your co-parent when he showed up at your house with sweets in hand. “What Itsuki doesn’t know won’t hurt her,” you told him with a snicker when you invited him inside to eat them.
“Satoru?” You call out again.
No response.
You turn off the eye your kettle is on and look out into the living room. He’s right where you left him. “Hey,” you sit on the ottoman in front of him. He blinks in surprise when he sees your hand waving in front of face. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Satoru smiles but it doesn’t reach his eyes.
“Let me rephrase that question,” you start anew. “What’s wrong? Come on now,” you grin crookedly. “You’ve always sucked at pretending to be okay in front of me.”
Satoru’s smile falters for a heartbeat, “yeah?”
“Yes, Mr. Bravado,” Satoru might have been an expert at fooling others, but you know him. He was the guy who never took notes but passed every test because he worked his ass off in the background. The type who’d act oblivious but you realize halfway through a meal that the reason he took you is because he noticed you’d been feeling down lately. It’s one of the things you love about him. “So come out with it, fess up.”
One, two, three seconds pass before Satoru finally cracks.
“I’m mad. More at myself than anything.” Before you can reply, Satoru opens his mouth again but it feels more like he’s talking to himself. “I shouldn’t be upset anymore, right? We made up.” Satoru runs his fingers through his hair in frustration. “We made up,” he says again. “I shouldn’t still be mad about anything. Things have been going great.”
Satoru finally falls silent and he looks tired. You hate you’re the reason for it. “It’s okay to still be mad about Itsuki. I’m sorry,” you whisper. “I… I’d take it back if I could. I know that doesn’t mean anything after five years but I mean it. Even if I was scared I should have told you. I just- I don’t know, it had gotten into me. I was thinking how you couldn’t commitー”
“You thought I was non-committal?” Satoru raises an eyebrow and he looks hurt by your revelation.
“Satoru, you have never been in a relationship with anyone throughout the time I’ve known you,” you rub your finger and thumb together nervously. Five years later is as good as any time to have a conversation you should have had long ago. “You were scared when I asked what our relationship was, remember?”
“I didn’t know what the right answer was,” Satoru argues with his hands raised. “I thought you were tired of our friends always talking about us being a couple.”
“You were relieved when I said that-” you stammer over your words thoughts going much faster than your mouth could. You remember the tormented days of unrequited affection quite clearly. If there was someone who avoided romantic relationships like the plague, it was Satoru. He was a flirt, relished in the attention he received for his well-known good looks. Regardless, he’d never committed to anyone. “You said fucking someone else was a non-issue! For all I knew you were sleeping with someone else, it wasn’t like we were-”
“It was a non-issue if it meant you weren’t going to take off and start avoiding me!” Satoru snaps like you’ve grown a second head. Maybe you did judging by how he looks at you incredulously. Your mouth closes, unsure what to say next and Satoru looks away with a scoff. “It’s the other way around,” he mutters so soft you almost didn’t catch it. “you were the non-committal one.”
“Excuse me?” It’s your turn to look at Satoru like his body has magically sprung additional body parts. When he doesn’t immediately say anything, you double down. “Satoru, you don’t get to say that and then turn around and not elaborate on it.”
“You know, the first day we met, Suguru told me that I acted like the sun shined out of your ass,” Satoru says much to your confusion. But he went on, lost in his memories, “it might as well have, I thought you were so cool. I wanted you in my life so bad from pretty much the moment you said I doomed myself. I didn’t care what happened next in my life as long as you were there for it.
“But you left me,” Satoru croaks with a smile, crystal blue eyes dark and empty. “You left me.” The way he says it breaks your heart. “I’m so gone for you. I’ve always been gone for you. I just didn’t want to see it. Somehow I always knew you’d leave.” He laughs, cold and humorless and completely lost. “And you did.
“You could be right there with me and then suddenly be so far away. It always felt like you would just up and leave one day. You and Utahime always talked about intuition and trusting it. I guess mine was saying from early on ‘this girl is gonna break your heart one day, don’t fall in love with her.’”
“I knew it when you got those far away looks in your eyes. I knew it when I woke up that first morning alone. I knew it when you didn’t say you’d see me later. And just like that you were gone on that ghost ship. You left and didn’t even tell me you were going. Do you know how much that fucking hurt? I wait outside for hours and your neighbor’s the one who tells me you’re gone. I may have purposely lied to myself about how I felt but I never slept with anyone else. I didn’t want anyone else. I was the one who kept reaching out, you never reached back.
Itsuki’s the second tier on the cake and the rest of the frosting. You’ve been gone on that ghost ship for five years and when I finally catch up, I still feel like I’m drowning.”
“… I didn’t mean to make you feel that way. I didn’t know.”
“I know. That’s almost the worst part. Guess I didn’t wear my heart on my sleeve as much as you thought.”
.
.
.
“It was the week after our second year midterms,” you recall when you were six years younger and the biggest problem you had in life was a professor was out to get you. Midterms had finally passed and you were on a victorious emotional high after finishing your last exam. At least until some asshole who should have covered their mouth coughed and you were coughing by the end of the day. “I got a cold and just so I could breathe better when I slept, you let me lay on you on the couch the whole time even though you ended up getting sick afterwards.”
You’d felt so bad, coughing all the while but Satoru hadn’t let you budge an inch, proudly claiming ‘I don’t get sick, I’m built different so cough away.’ When he got sick days later, he said over coughs, ‘This has nothing to do with when you were sick. This is from Suguru.’ “That was when I realized that I’d been stupidly in love with you ever since I met you.”
Gojou Satoru has been called many things throughout your years of knowing him. But for you, the fall child has always been easy to love. He was made for it. “You were a pain in the ass but you were my pain in the ass. I never wanted it any other way.”
“Stop being mean to me,” Satoru leans forward to rest his head on your shoulder just as you wrap your arms around his back. “Don’t you know who you’re being mean to when you’re being an ass?”
You laugh weakly, “the guy I’m still gone for?” When you hear a sniffle in the corner of your neck, you tighten your grip.
“Don’t go away this time,” Satoru hugs back.
vii. ocean deep, seafoam soft
Satoru finds himself in your bed again for the first time in years.
“I confess my love to you and you try to kill me, I’m hurt.”
“Oh don’t be such a baby, I didn’t even know it was there,” you chuckle fondly after the two of you stumble into your bed after nearly tripping on a stray toy on your floor. Satoru loves that laugh. He loves how you look up at him with all the adoration in the world. “Remember that time we forgot that textbook was on your bed?”
“Please don’t remind me, my back hurts just remembering it,” Satoru whines but laughter escapes him despite his apparent trauma. It wasn’t one of your best moments during your shared years of sexual escapades in college. You pull him down kiss his lips tenderly and he practically moans, relishing the feeling. No more forehead kisses, he wants to tell you. You did that a lot before you left.
“I love you,” Satoru whispers in awe at the words falling out of his own mouth. In awe at the fact you’re even there with him at that moment. “I love you.”
Your hands cup his face like he’s something precious and you thumbs away the tears pooling in his eyes despite the ones in your own, “I love you too.”
Satoru’s had sex with you more times than he can count.
He memorized everything, refused to forget a single detail. It feels like the first time all over again.
The way one set of your fingernails dig into his back while he envelopes your other hand with one of his own. How your fingers intertwined tightly. How amazing you feel squeezing around him tightly. The speed of your pulse as he peppers your throat with kisses and soft nips. The ache between his legs as he rolls his hips into you gently yet persistently, chasing his high but wanting it to last long beyond the confines of this singular moment.
It’s not just this one moment anymore though. “[First],” Satoru squeezes your hand tighter. “[First].”
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
Don’t leave me this time, Satoru gasps like a man starved for air before kissing you again desperately. Stay.
(When Satoru wakes up the next morning to you in his arms and playing with his hair at the base of his neck, he feels like could cry. He nestles into your chest with a tired grin, “morning.”)
viii. anchor
Gojou Itsuki, that’s the name staring back at him.
Satoru loves when it’s his birthday. Until Itsuki was born it was arguably the best day in the universe. The importance of birthdays tends to titter on the rope of priorities, but it’s the one day of the year when the people important to him would pop up to say ‘hi’. Even people from the past. An old teacher he used to drive crazy but always said he thought Satoru had a lot of potential.
His mom still sent him a birthday text even if most of their exchanges are dry the rest of the year.
Even his students will tip in to get him a card and some sort of celebratory gift on December 7th.
December 7th lost a bit of its shine when you exited from his life. With you and Itsuki both in it, it shines tenfold.
It’s just the light is too blinding when Satoru takes out his last present of a plain envelope and he sees Gojou Itsuki written in bold and clear text.
Gojou Itsuki
Father: Gojou Satoru

v. sea state private ver.
"Daddy, do you love Mommy too?”
“Yeah. Daddy loves Mommy.”

wings
Castiel x fem!reader
The air was thick with smoke and tension, that uncanny stillness just before everything goes wrong. You were crouched low behind the crumbled remains of an old stone altar, shotgun gripped tight in your hands, your breathing shallow and uneven. Sweat clung to the back of your neck, nerves crawling along your skin like static. Castiel was knelt beside you, expression as unreadable as ever, his trench coat dusted with dirt and soot. His blue eyes flicking between you and the clearing ahead, methodical, calculating, always a step ahead, even now.
The hunt had already gone sideways. This was supposed to be simple, nothing fancy. What was supposed to be a routine salt and burn turned into something much darker. A haunting reported in a real worn down abandoned monastery on the edge of town, standard stuff. You, Cas, and dean had split up to cover more ground. Dean had gone to the catacombs below, and you'd taken the ruins above. He stayed close, at your insistence. Something had felt wrong the second you crossed the threshold to where the doors used to be. Too quiet. The air was too cold.
And then you'd found the circle.
Etched beneath the floorboards and hidden beneath layers of rot and filth, it wasn't just some spirts playing field. This was something much, much older. Carved into the stone itself were sigils hidden beneath layers of decay, a summoning circle carved deep into the earth, the scent of blood too fresh. Archaic symbols tangled like a nest of thorns, pulsing faintly with an unnatural green light. The moment Castiel stepped near it, his posture shifted.
The sigils had begun to glow with an eerie, sickly green, pulsing with the rhythmic beat of something alive. You looked over at Cas, trying to steady your voice. “This isn't right.”
He nodded once, jaw clenched. “It's a binding circle. Demonic… but old. Babylonian, maybe older. Someones trying to open a gate.”
Before you could respond, the wind shifted. The trees groaned, the sky above cracked with a low rumble like thunder, but no storm came. Your heart skipped. The circle flared, too fast. The energy surged. Something had been triggered. Like someone had flipped a switch or spilled gasoline over a sacred flame, the ground beneath your feet vibrating with an otherworldly hum. A sharp, shrieking sound split the air like a scream without a mouth, tearing through the clearing like a blade. The summoning circle cracked wide open, glowing veins spreading across the earth.
“Get back!” he barked, reaching for you.
You tried to step back, but it was too late. The blast was sudden, seismic, a burst of ancient magic that tore through the air with a blinding light. The force of it knocked you off your feet. The energy surged toward you like a wave, faster than your eyes could track.
“Y/N!” Cas shouted, voice edged with something alarmingly close to fear.
One second you were falling, weightless, the blast about to consume you whole, then strong arms caught you mid air, pulling you into the safety of a chest that radiated warmth and something more, something divine. Castiel’s arms locked around you with a force that was both desperate and precise, and then, wings.
They exploded outward with a gust of wind that sent the smoke spiraling. Massive, celestial, impossibly soft and impossibly strong, they wrapped around you in a single fluid motion. The feathers blocked out the light, the flames, the sounds, everything but Castiel. The pressure of their span, the sound like sails catching the wind. Feathers, massive and soft and indestructible, cocooned around your body just as the fire from the explosion rolled over the treetops. You were encased in him, his warmth, his presence, his power.
Everything outside his wings was chaos. Flame and ash, screaming winds, branches snapping like brittle bones. Heat licked at the edges of his protection, but never touched you. The world was collapsing just beyond the veil of his grace, and all you could hear was the dull thud of your heart, and his voice, low, firm, a prayer in Enochian as he held you tighter.
Inside the shield of his wings, there was silence. Only your heartbeat, ragged and quick, and his, the steady rhythm of a creature older than the world. You could feel the tension in his arms, how tightly he held you, how every muscle in his body fought to keep the world out. His wings trembled at the edges, feathers shuddering with each new shockwave.
He was speaking still, chanting ancient words under his breath, pouring his grace into the space around you like armor. You tilted your head weakly to look up at him, but everything was spinning. Your limbs were numb. Your vision blurred, only catching silvers of blue flaring in his eyes as he focused all of himself on protecting you.
Another hit, stronger. The sigils outside exploded in a ripple of green fire that splashed against the edge of his wings. He grunted softly, and you felt it vibrate through his chest. The force of it slammed into the protective shield of his wings again and again like a tidal wave against a cliff. He gritted his teeth, wings straining to hold. You were limp in his arms now, the last flickers of your consciousness dimming. You heard his voice say your name, sharp, almost panicked. That wasn't like him.
“Stay with me,” he said, tone cracked. The words felt far away. Your head lulled against him, eyelids fluttering.
But the last thing you saw was the flicker of celestial blue in his eyes as he poured every ounce of power into shielding you. The beat of his wings folding tighter, the warmth of him surrounding you, the pulse of his grace…then darkness.
When the fire finally died down, and the circle burned out, there was nothing but scorched earth and silence. The sigils were gone. The earth cracked and smoldering. The world around was deathly quiet, as if it too was stunned by the force of what had just occurred.
Castiel slowly unfurled his wings.
He was kneeling in the dirt, still holding you. Smoke drifted through the clearing in soft tendrils. His trench coat was torn, the hem burned, blood drying along a cut near his temple, but he didn't care. His wings were scorched at the tips, feathers singed and bent, but intact. The only thing that mattered to him right now was you.
Your body lay limp in his arms, face slack and pale against the dirt covered fabric of his coat. He shifted to cradle you more securely, one hand pressed gently to the side of your head, the other around your waist, protective even now. He knelt, holding you close, one wing still partially draped over your body. His jaw was clenched, eyes darting over your form for injuries. He brushed a thumb gently against your cheek.
He looked down at you, searching. A flicker of panic, true, human panic, twisted behind his eyes for a split second. “Y/N.” he murmured, voice lower than a breath.
You didn't stir.
“You're safe,’ he said, more to himself than to you. “You're safe.”
He pressed two fingers to your temple. Nothing serious. Healing the worst of what you took, internal bruising, the gash at your shoulder, the shallow brun on your wrist. A concussion. Starin from the magical blow. He could fix that. He would fix that. His hand soft against your forehead as his grace flowed into you in soft pulses, stitching you back together. Still you didn't wake.
Castiel exhaled slowly through his nose, then leaned in, resting his forehead gently against yours. One wing still hung protectively over your shoulder, half sheltering you from the outside world. His voice was almost too soft to hear.
He looked to the sky, jaw tight. “You're not taking her,” he said softly, as if daring something unseen to try. The trees whispered in the breeze. A distant crow cried.
Only once your pulse settled into a steady rhythm beneath his fingers did he finally shift. He pulled you against him again, tighter this time, anchoring you to his chest like he could will you back to consciousness through sheer closeness.
His wings folded once more, curling you both in a soft darkness unmarred by the world's violence. He waited there, unmoving, until you stirred.
And when you finally did, when your lashes fluttered and your fingers twitched against the fabric of his coat, he let off a deep sigh of relief. Then with a flicker of his wings and a low hum of displaced air, he vanished, leaving nothing behind but ash.

Hii Mark!! I know this is an random request but I’ve been reading your other fics on your other account and I really love your marvel fics!
So I would like to request a Peter Strahm k x P⭐️ Or camboy Male reader.!! Just for you to know you don’t have to do it!! And make a small story with it, it doesn’t have to have any plot.
PETER STRAHM X CAMBOY READER
I’m trying hard to finish up some of the old request in my inbox 😭. It’s been a while since I wrote for a horror movie character but since I can’t see Peter as an bottom I made reader bottom. I’m a lil rusty for bottom reader 🙏
⚠️Warnings! Camboy reader- pure smutt no plot, rough Peter, live sex, vibrator, post orgasm torture, people watching (live) overstimulation, orgasm anal. Humiliation kink and etc ⚠️
“Come on baby you can take it right? This is supposed to be your job so do it fucking right.”
The deep voiced belonged to Peter. Peter had his boyfriend in between his legs laying his chest against your back. You felt like you were going to explode. At the start of you guy’s relationship he was unsure and annoyed at the fact that your a camboy. Tried to persuade you to dozens of times to quit and gives you a list of better jobs.
Now here he is on your bed humiliating and dirty talking to you live. He was being harsh like his regular self, but he has this extra boost knowing that he’s doing this to you in front of hundreds of strangers and fans watching from their screens.
Peter’s large hand jerking off your wet and cummy cock. You lost track of time, all you knew that he was having a hell of a time overstimulating you. Your cock was aching and legs were slowly trembling. Not only his hand was jerking off your cock at an really fast pace, you already came so many times already and on top of all that you have a vibrator inside you so all the pleasure was overwhelming.
“Keep your eyes open, baby… your fans are watching.” Peter used his free hand to grab your jaw and made you look at the camera and on the side of the camera it’s the monitor. Peter’s face was out of frame but the audience could see his hands and hear his voice.
“p-please— ngh~…I—I ca-can’t take it.” You moaned out but Peter didn’t slow down his pace or even make an attempt to stop.
“Keep your legs open.” You heard his command you could focus on him. The pleasure was euphoria. You felt your jaw getting squeezed as he pressed his mouth to your ear.
“Open. Your. Goddamn. Legs.” You instantly obeyed once you heard the tone of his voice. You opened your legs showing off the cock in between your legs and showing the vibrator you had inside showing it to the camera.
“I— I’m gonna cum!~ st-stop… I’m cu—“ You we’re cut off by his hand leaving your dick.
You gave him a confused look, but he just had his cold and stern look. “Get in your knees, baby.” You quickly do as told and get onto your knees now your face to the camera rather then your ass. You felt his hand touch and pushed the vibrator deeper inside your walls causing you to let out a moan.
Peter unzipped his pants and threw his belt to the side of the room before pulling out his cock and began to jerk himself off listening to your moans and broken words. Peter spat into his hand and began to jerk off his cock faster too get himself wet. You looked up at the camera looking at yourself in the monitor. Your body was sweaty and looked a mess but very erotic.
Peter slowly pulled the vibrator out and your hole was gaping and exposed. Peter used his free hand using two fingers to spread his hole as Peter pressed his tip inside. Peter slightly grunted as he put his hand on the back of your head pressing your face down onto the bed. Though you just had the vibrator inside, nothing compared to the real thing.
You arched your back as he felt your hair getting tugged back, without warning Peter slammed his full cock inside you. From surprise and pleasure white strokes of cum shot through your cock. You let out heavy and loud moans as he fucks you merciless. He didn’t even pause or stop to wait for you be done orgasming he kept thrusting.
His cock drove deeper and faster fucking, your mouth hanged open. “Your gonna take this cock and my cum until that fucking cameras die do you understand?” Peter asked tugging on your hair making you nod your head yes.
You couldn’t even form a right response. You felt like you were getting spilt in half. You were panting like some damn dog, he was completely destroying you.
You could see the live comments rolling in faster and faster. You couldn’t even imagine what those strangers and fans are typing out. Peter’s cock brushed and moved against your prostate causing you to moan and almost scream.
Trembling and overstimulated your body wanted to curl up and quiver, but with Peter’s deep cock moving and thrusting inside of you with no sign of being close or being tired.
You thought to yourself. “This is gonna be a long stream.”

bad timing | logan howlett
this is just a little thing about cas and logan running into each other in the kitchen (takes place while reader is in the bathtub during baby, am i your little secret)
↳ summary: reader’s roommate (aka cas) goes into the kitchen at a bit of a bad time, and ends up encountering… a stranger?
word count: 1.5k (sorry lol)
pairings: old man!logan & reader’s roommate, old man!logan x fem!stripper!reader (mentioned/referenced)
content warnings: 18+ content (MDNI), sexual references/innuendos, no use of y/n, third person pov, age gap (cas and reader’s ages are unspecified but they are both adults), gun (not used), cas is down bad for logan (lmk if i missed anything!)
↳ a/n: so this was absolutely NOT supposed to be this long but i had so much fun writing that i just got caught up in it… anyway enjoy my semi self-insert LMAO
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Logan has been rifling through the cupboards for what feels like forever. Realistically, he knows it’s only been two or three minutes, but he can’t make heads or tails of the organization in this place and he just wants a fucking cup to get you some water.
Then he hears the door open from down the hall. It wouldn’t be you- too soon. He sniffs the air, just once- nope. Not you. Back and forth footsteps, the quiet click of a closing door- and then the sound gets closer.
Breathing. Quiet, nearly held, but not quite. A heartbeat that’s just a little too fast.
Someone’s there.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Cas had tried to wait it out. Really, they had, swear it. But they’d just gotten to a massive story beat in their newest favorite game, including a betrayal, and anger makes them hungry. Really fucking hungry. Plus they probably hadn’t eaten since long before their roommate got home. They’d lost track of time, which was, admittedly, their fault. All of this kind of was, if you exclude the fact that they’d just been seeing red over this stupid video game.
Anger also makes them forgetful.
So it was only natural that after a long period of ignoring their hunger, then finding out that a friendship built up over the entire game was a lie, they were kind of distracted and maybe forgot that their roommate had company.
Like I said, it’s not their fault!
Anyway. They’d slipped off their headphones only to immediately pull them back on when they’d heard the sounds from the room next door. Not the first time, probably wouldn’t be the last. They waited impatiently, scrolling through TikTok until they deemed it had been long enough for them to venture out of their room. At this point, they didn’t care what they heard, they were fucking starving.
When they pulled off their headphones again and were met with silence, they thanked the lord and began making their way towards the kitchen.
They hadn’t even pulled their bedroom door shut when they heard something- the closing of a cupboard. They froze, ears perking up, and they could pick up on the sound of water splashing from the bathroom. Jesus, in the bathtub? Cas was going to have to remind you to clean it.
But if that was the case, which they so foolishly completely fairly assumed, then whoever was in the kitchen was probably an intruder.
Okay, listen. They’re paranoid, alright? Anxiety will do that to you, especially when meds that work are about as hard to come by as an ounce of common sense in today’s society- and Cas, tonight, has neither.
They caught the door before it closed, slipping back inside their room and getting the gun from their safe. They pulled the door closed behind them as quietly as possible, feeling rather than hearing the click as it shut, their gun gripped tightly in their hands.
So that’s how we ended up here. With your roommate stepping cautiously down the hall towards the kitchen, convinced that someone has broken into your apartment.
Which they haven’t.
When they reach the doorway, they spot him. An old older man, rummaging through the cupboards with a frustrated huff as he tries (and fails) to find what he’s looking for.
What the fuck is he doing? Cas thinks to themself, holding their breath as they linger in the doorway, watching for any sign of what this man might be up to.
“Where do you keep your cups?” He grumbles, opening another door, met with various painted bowls laughing back at him.
Cas stays quiet, brow furrowed. He doesn’t look like a thief- but looks can be deceiving, right?
“What, are you just gonna stand there? Where are your fuckin’ cups?” Is he talking to-
He turns around, eyeing them up for a brief moment before meeting their gaze with a hardened expression.
Cas is frozen in place, eyes locked on the man as he stares at them impatiently. Their grip on the gun tightens to the point that their knuckles are white, but something keeps them from raising it. They may not have common sense, but they have damn good intuition, and this guy is not a threat.
“Um- my- you.. what?”
His gaze darts down to the gun in their hands. Immediately, his entire stance changes. He’s tense, on edge, ready for a fight. This guy has to be pushing seventy, there’s no way he can do anything, right? But his muscular arms visible beneath his white undershirt, the way his eyes were trained on the weapon almost immediately, the lack of any panic or fear in his expression, all suggest otherwise. “You her roommate?” His tone is much less friendly now (if they could have even called it that to begin with). Despite being the one holding a gun, Cas is pretty sure that one wrong move will leave them dead on the floor in seconds.
But also, this guy just mentioned you. Which means… he’s your company?
Before they can think too long about whether or not this guy can even get it up anymore, they realize they should probably say something. Cause, you know, they’re still holding a gun.
“Uhh.. yeah.” They stammer. “Sorry. I’m, um, a little paranoid.” They stumble over their words with a nervous laugh, cautiously setting the gun down on the kitchen counter.
“I can see that.” His stance relaxes some, but the tension in his bones remains evident.
“Sorry.” They say again. “She told me she had company, I just thought you two were in the bathroom. And I thought you’d be… well, um…” Younger. Much younger. Not someone’s grandpa, holy shit. He raises an eyebrow, and upon further consideration, they decide it’s probably best not to tell this very dangerous looking man how ridiculously fucking old he is. (Like, seriously?) “Nevermind.”
He seems to know what they were going to say, but thankfully moves on from the subject. “You didn’t answer my question.”
“Oh, yeah. Last one on the end.” They point, and sure enough, when he opens that cupboard, the inside is full of various cups, mugs, and glasses. He picks out a tall one, moving to the sink to fill it with water. “Don’t.”
He turns, looking at them with a gaze they’re pretty sure could turn people to stone. Who the hell is this guy? “I’m getting your roommate some water.” His tone is low, bordering on menacing.
Cas, having determined that this man is very much not a threat if you brought him here, is now very quickly beginning to understand why you took home such a specimen.
Yeah, okay, they’re a masochist. And probably have something wrong with them. Sue them, or something, but holy shit, they kind of want to pick the gun back up just to see what he’d do about it.
There’s definitely something wrong with them.
Anyway.
“No, I- I know, I, um-” Fuck. As much as they’d like to think they’re some kind of badass who could stand up to this guy even a little bit for the sake of getting a good punishment, every coherent thought in their head has gone out the window. Spit it out already! “We have a pitcher in the fridge. You can get it from there.”
He stares at them for a moment, nostrils flaring- but then, suddenly, he relents. If they weren’t so worked up they thought they might be delusional, they’d be convincing anyone that would listen that this man had a fucking smirk on his face. “Thanks.” He says as he turns away, pulling the pitcher out of the fridge.
“And you can get ice from the freezer.” God, they sound like an idiot.
While he’s turned away making you a glass of water, they can’t help but stare. He’s big, tall, veins on his arms that make Cas wonder if he has them anywhere else- nope, stop, not thinking about him like that. He’s clearly whipped for you.
“D’you know what snacks she likes?” He turns around again to ask the question. How does he stare so intensely yet look so unbothered at the same time? “I didn’t think she’d want much since it’s late, but…”
“String cheese. In the fridge.” Cas has given up on trying to rein in their thoughts, instead settling for getting him the fuck out of here as quickly as possible. They tap their fingers on the countertop, trying to act like they aren’t staring when they absolutely are.
Before he can leave, they speak up again- they just can’t help themself. “Did you get some for yourself?”
He looks at them with a confused frown. “What?”
“Water. Did you get some? I’m assuming no, since I had to tell you where our cups are.” If there’s one thing Cas is good at keeping a firm tone for, it’s taking care of other people, and there’s no way in hell this old man doesn’t need a long drink of water after fucking you.
“I’m fine.”
They wave a hand, interrupting him. “Water. Now.”
For a moment he just stares at them, and they gulp, feeling heat rise to their cheeks.
Yep, they really did just tell this man what to do.
But for some reason, he listens, pouring himself a glass of water and downing it, eyes locked on them the whole time.
“There. You happy?”
“Could be better, but that’ll do for now.” They ease into the banter with him naturally.
He huffs, grabbing the things he got for you. “Yeah, alright. Night.”
Even a goodnight? What a gentleman.
“Goodnight!” They call out, watching him go before they begin to make themself something to eat. They’d almost forgotten entirely about their quest for sustenance and their intense gaming session- and while those things take precedence for the rest of the night, that old man lingers in the back of their mind.
