⋆ 𝓔𝓹𝓮𝓵 𝓕𝓮𝓵𝓶𝓲𝓮𝓻: 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓐𝓹𝓹𝓵𝓮 𝓸𝓯 𝓜𝔂 𝓔𝔂𝓮 ⋆
Happy birthday Addie (@justm3di0cr3)! ♡ And happy birthday Epel lol ♡
I hope you have a wonderful birthday ♡ Here's a cute apple picking date with Epel for you! ♡
Tumblr media
⋆ It was early in the morning when you arrived at the orchard, Epel eager for you to start. He'd been wanting to take you apple picking for a while now, finding the perfect opportunity when he was able to go back to Harveston for a few days. He asked you to come along with him, saying he was going to visit his family, and mentioning how they couldn't wait to see you again. You already felt like part of the family with how welcoming they were, greeting you with open arms when Epel introduced you as his partner.
⋆ His grandmother had been up when you both arrived late last night, a home cooked meal waiting for you on the table. She scolded you both for showing so late, though you knew it was affectionate, sitting at the table and asking how you were as you ate. You headed to bed after, waking up to the smell of breakfast foods cooking. You got ready for the day before meeting everyone at the table, Epel having saved you a seat beside him. His whole family greeted you, happy to see you again and wanting to catch up. They knew Epel was taking you apple picking today, hoping you both have fun and reminding you to be back for dinner. As soon as you were finished eating he was pulling you out the door, excited for the day ahead of you.
⋆ He spent a lot of time planning this date, taking you to the orchard with the ripest apples and bringing along a ladder to use. He also brought two baskets, one for you to put the apples you picked and another that contained a picnic for you both to enjoy. His mom and grandma had insisted, making the food he packed. He sat the basket filled with food down before propping the ladder against the first tree, holding it so that you could climb up. Once those apples were picked you moved onto the next tree, making your way down the path. You would each take turns picking, trading off after each tree.
⋆ Whenever it was Epel's turn he wouldn't use the ladder, wanting to show off. He would climb up the tree, making it look easy as he picked each apple, tossing them down for you to catch. You would hold the basket out, doing your best to make sure the apple fell into it. It was like a game, causing you both to smile and laugh as you raced off to the next tree.
⋆ It was well into the afternoon when the basket was full, apples of all different colors filling it. You decided to have your picnic under one of the trees, placing a blanket in the shade before sitting down. You talked as you ate, enjoying the breeze. You couldn't help but yawn as you leaned back against the tree, Epel moving to join you. With the gentle breeze and all the work you'd done you couldn't stop yourself from yawning, resting your head on his shoulder as you grew drowsy. He yawns as well, laying his head on top of yours as his eyes close.
⋆ The sun is beginning to set by the time you wake up, your head still resting on his shoulder as he carves an apple. He must have woken up a few minutes before you, doing his best not to move too much. You ask him sleepily what he's making, Epel telling you it's a surprise before continuing his work. A few minutes later he hands you the apple, now beautifully carved into a rose, causing your heart to race. You press a kiss to his cheek as you thank him, watching his ears turn red as he turns away. He informs you that dinner would be ready soon, leading you to pack up and start heading back to his house.
⋆ As you're walking away Epel looks back towards the tree, smiling when he notices the heart with your initials he had carved into it. Perhaps you'll notice it the next time he brings you here, turning his attention back to you as he shouts "Race ya there!" before running ahead. You laugh as you race after him, the perfect end to a wonderful date ♡

A Beautiful Heartbreak, iii
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Malleus x Fem!MC , One-sided Vil x Fem!MC
Summary: Malleus has a little chat with Vil about the Ramshackle Prefect.
TW: Unrequited Love, Bullying, Body-Shaming(nothing descript), Angsty
A/N: Part 3 has arrived!! There will be one or two more parts for this before the mini-series is over! I’m debating on 2 endings but i’ll see how it works out! The prefect isn’t in this one as much but she’ll be present in the next one! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
MC is the same age as Vil(18), thus making them both of age.
Tumblr media
“Such a look of displeasure on your face, Schoenheit.” Malleus teased, his hands on his hips as he gazed at his fellow 3rd year. The smirk on his face widened as Vil’s glared only deepened.
“Nfu~ Well, he is a bit bitter about thy relationship with the dear Prefect.” Lilia chimed in happily, from his place behind Malleus. Red eyes sparkled in unbridled glee and curiosity at this confrontation. In truth, he did not expect Malleus to wish to seek Vil out once he told him about the situation, nor did he expect him to do it in this manner – so like his grandmother.
“Are you both here merely to annoy me?” Vil asked, his voice clipped and tense while still level. Though his eyes were trained on Malleus, he felt the greatest urge to glare at Lilia, but he knew that would only make the sadistic 3rd year bring up the Prefect more – how did he know of his ‘supposed’ feelings for her?
“If that is your reaction to my words, then yes.” Malleus remarked simply, moving a hand to his chin in thought. He paused for barely a second before he continued, “However, I considered it advice more so than an annoyance.”
“And what, pray tell, would I need your advice on? Considering your social position here at Night Raven College, I should be giving you advice.” Vil sneered, allowing a chuckled to escape his lips but Malleus did not react to his jab.
“Well, you are lacking in more than one way, but I will be brief – your decorum is lacking. It leaves much to be desired, especially when addressing one with a more delicate emotional state.” Again, Malleus remarked simply, as if he didn’t just insult Vil to his face.
“…What?” Vil felt his eyes widened and his anger rise, “How dare you- “
“Is that not way she prefers my presence over your own?” Malleus cut in, and eyebrow raised. He couldn’t help but chuckle at the hurt look that flashed over Vil’s face. “From that expression you try to hide, you know this to be true or you are beginning to see the truth in these words.”
“There is no truth in any of this. That potato is merely clueless.” Vil protested, but his voice had lost some of its edge the more he thought; Having Epel and Rook mention it to him was one thing but now Malleus? ‘Why am I always the villain?’
“I will not deny that she can be rather clueless on things.” Malleus chuckled, his thoughts immediately wandering to how the Prefect ignored the danger that came with behaving so flippantly around him, even if he favored her. “But denying your faults is not confidence, Schoenheit; It is a weakness, that is easily exploited. You fancy her, you desire her attention, that is now evident but the attention you give is more hurtful than helpful in your position.”
“If my words are so hurtful,” Vil began, feeling Rook place a hand on the center of his back – Vil had not felt himself shaking, his hands trembling so that even clenching them did nothing. “Why did she not speak up for herself?”
“Does a gardener listen to the cries of a wildflower in their garden of roses?” Was the simple response, Vil received from Malleus before he went silent.
Vil tried to maintain his glare, in an attempt at maintaining his façade but it fell more and more as he began to think.
A gardener? He could see the similarities between himself and one of that position.
Both took great care to ensure that those under their care, flowers or underclassmen, were stunning and at their best.
Both tended to their charges firmly yet taking care not to break or seriously harm any of them.
Weeds and bad students were given extra attention to ensure they became nonexistent or, in Vil’s case, they transformed into the rose he knew they could be.
The Prefect could indeed be a wildflower; She grew and flourished at her own pace; she took root in the most peculiar of places but was always the most beautiful – a natural beauty.
‘She shines so brightly to me…’Vil thought to himself as his face fell back into a neutral expression but his eyes spoke another story. They shimmered, glossed over with a light sheen that he blinked back steadily. ‘Was I…’
“No matter how much the gardener cares for a wildflower as they do rose – a wildflower will forever be a wildflower. As long as you cannot understand that the Prefect will not wish to be near you.” Malleus concluded as he was with sadistic curiosity as Vil continued to keep his face impassive but told a novel in his eyes. To see such a put-together, self-assured student so close to falling apart – it was such a sight to see.
“But it is not too late, Roi du Poisson!” Rook chimed, his hand now patting Vil on the back gently. That beautiful sadness was beginning to make him ache for his dear friend to be happy once again. “Wildflowers are beautifully resilient.”
“That they are!” Lilia agreed with an amused giggle. “Truly there is no blossom that can withstand the harshest of weathers than a wildflower.”
Vil took a deep breath, ‘You were wrong about something, Malleus.’
“As enlightening as this conversation has been, Malleus, I have an important matter to attend to.” Vil smiled, his eyes narrowed in satisfaction as his resolve only increase. “You understand.”
“But of course, do not let us keep you.” Malleus tipped his head ever-so slightly with a smirk and moved to walk past the Pomefiore students. Before he fully passed however, he whispered, “This will be very entertaining to witness, Schoenheit. Let us see if you shall be victorious.”
“I have no doubt that I will.” Vil responded curtly, smoothly walking away without a single glance back. ‘M/C isn’t a mere wildflower; she’s an orchid that I’ve been treating as a would-be rose.’
“Ah I know that look on your face, Roi du Poisson! Such determination!” Rook praised as he fell into step beside Vil. That familiar light filled his eyes once more, easy for all to see; It was as if a transformation had happened inside of Vil in just those few moments.
“Rook, I have something I need you to do.” Vil smiled ever-so slightly, so little that other would believe him to be bearing a smirk upon his face – but Rook saw the gentle happiness within that smile.
‘I see what I’ve done and it is time to correct it.’

author's notes: this is set after epel and reader graduates from NRC. Also,, i got the idea from harvest moon and town of harvest.... i connected the dots
Tumblr media
Epel wasn't sure if he was making a big mistake. He invited you to his hometown, The Village of Harvest, during the holidays to introduce you to his grandmother. For him, introducing you to his grandmother was a huge step he was willing to take with you. You've been with him long enough for him to consider life changing decisions with you. Taking a huge breath, Epel knocked on the door gently with you by his side.
Epel's breath hitched as he heard the door unlock it's gears. His hands were sweaty from nervousness, you noticed his state and gently took a hold of his hand, entwining them with yours. His tense face became more relaxed as he gave you a gentle smile, thanking you silently. His grandmother appeared on the other side of the door the same time it was opened. An old woman with grey hair greeted you, 'She has Epel's eyes' you thought, staring at her for a while before bowing quickly, trying to hide your embarrassment. "Epel! I'm glad you're home." His grandmother wrapped her arms around him and gave him a bone-crushing hug.
"M-Meemaw! I can't breathe!" Epel struggled free from her iron grip. She realized what she was doing and reluctantly let Epel go. Epel breathed a sigh of relief as he tried to catch his breath. His grandmother offered to let the both of you inside, and you happily obliged. You were nervous to actually talk to his grandmother, what if she doesn't like you? Would she try to separate the two of you? Who knows. All of you sat down by the table out in the garden and were offered tea. (or whatever your preference is)
"So Epel, do you mind introducing me to the pretty lady ya got here?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows a bit as she let out a heart laugh. The tension you were feeling all along was suddenly replaced with overwhelming relief. Maybe, this could work out. Before you could introduce yourself, Epel went ahead and did it for you. "Ah, She's (Y/N) (L/N). My um, girlfriend." Epel flushed at the last few words. Even after all this time, it was still embarrassing for him. He wasn't used to it.
His Grandma's grin grew wider. A girlfriend? This is the first time, she knew Epel wouldn't just bring home anybody, so she knew that the girl must be very special to him. Special enough to make Epel think seriously about their future together. Though his grandmother was a bit worried for him. Would he be making a wise decision? Or was he going too fast? Grandma tried to talk to you as much as she could, her questions are often about your relationship with him. What was your relationship like while studying in NRC? After that? How did you manage to stay together despite all the hardships life threw at the both of you? You answered them all patiently, with a gentle smile covering your features, remembering all the memories the two of you shared.
When it was time for you to leave, his grandmother grabbed you by the wrist gently. Tugging you towards a more private room where Epel can't hear you. She whispered something in your ear that made you as red as a tomato. When you returned to Epel's side, he could only wonder what the two of you talked about.
"Epel-kun! Could you tell me a bit about your hometown?" You suddenly asked, Epel has caught your attention lately. He seemed like a gentle natured pretty boy from Pomefiore, but you were proven dead wrong. You found him amusing whenever you hung out together and eventually wanted to know more and more about him.
"My hometown? Well- I came from the Village of Harvest. Long story short, there are a lotta farms and gardens there. Meemaw- I mean, My grandmother sent me these apples from our farm. Would you like some?" It was cute to see him trying to correct himself with the whole meemaw thing- you found it cute! He handed you a beautifully carved apple, you wondered whose skillful hands made such a masterpiece when you noticed that Epel was holding a small knife.
"Epel-kun, don't tell me you carved these…!?" Epel's face had a look of confusion as you gave him a shocked look. "Yes…? I did." Reluctantly, he continued carving the apple he was holding. "You're amazing!" Epel almost cut his finger when he heard you say that, "W-Whaddya mean amazing?!" He became as red as the apple he was holding.
"It's getting a bit late but I want to show you something before we leave, is it alright?" Epel was right, dusk was falling rapidly. Even if you preferred going home immediately, you wouldn't pass up the chance to spend more time with your lover. You wondered where he was taking you as the both of you stopped by a river with stepping stones. "We're gonna have to use the stepping stones to cross the river, can you do it?" The stones seemed stable enough for you to nod. Epel went first, holding your hand as you followed along. You almost tripped several times, had it not been for Epel clutching your hand tightly, afraid of the possibility that you might fall and injure yourself.
After crossing the river successfully, both of you had to walk a bit more- there was no path, you couldn't tell if Epel knew where he was going or the both of you were lost. The more you walked, more flowers kept on appearing. "Epel! Are we there yet?" You were growing excited but at the same time, impatient. You couldn't wait to see what Epel had in store for you. "We're almost there."
You finally spotted something in the distance, your pace went faster as you went towards it with Epel. It looked like an old rickety door without a look. Moss and vines camouflaged it well, you were lucky you're with Epel or else you wouldn't have noticed it. Epel took hold of the doorknob and turned it, opening the door.
You entered through the door and there you saw what seems like a Secret Garden. Flowers and Vines adorned the hedges, in the middle was a small pond with a small stone stool besides it. It was gorgeous. The night sky tinted the hues of the flowers while the pond illuminated the moonlight. "Do you like it?" Epel asked you, a small pink tinting his cheeks. You nodded eagerly and sat down on the stone stool and admired the view further.
"You wanna know more about my hometown? Well- there isn't anything that interesting about us except for how our marriage proposals work." Epel tried to quench your curiosity with the stories and traditions of his village. "Instead of rings, we use a blue feather to propose. And don't you dare try to think about freaking me out by giving me one!"
Epel took a deep breath. He pulled out a blue feather and held it tightly with both of his hands. You didn't notice this as you were too mesmerized by the reflection of the moon in the pond but when you did- you forgot to breathe for a moment. Clutching a blue feather under the moonlit night, Epel looked ethereal. You wondered how someone as beautiful as him could exist. You hadn't paid attention to what he was holding, but when you did, your eyes widened. You remembered what his grandmother told you "I bet he'd make you his wife."
Epel glanced towards you and gave you a beautiful smile. He held out the blue feather towards you and asked you something in a serious tone. "Would you accept someone like me as your husband?"
