Aren’t you the person who doesn’t understand censorship
lmao what is my name getting passed around in the comshipper community?
listen, my stance on it is that you can write about whatever you want however you want and nobody can stop or censor you because it’s free speech, even if it’s blatantly abhorrent (and not just to me, but to like thousands of other people.) That’s just the law. But just because you can doesn’t mean you should. You’re really gonna sit here and tell me drawing or writing nsfw of child characters getting incest raped for sexual gain is normal and fine because it’s “not real..”? ... okay. I personally don’t like it, but you can do that, but if you paint it as a ship or call it cute, I have the right to assume weird things about you. That’s just how it is and I’m not gonna change my mind on that. So with that being said, ig I’m “proship” in the sense that you CAN ship something cuz nothing is stopping you, but I REALLLLLY don’t think you should because you shouldn’t romanticize something like a child/adult relationship (and to those in the sp fandom or my followers, I’m talking to you randy/stan and kenny/his siblings shippers.) I know that there are many reasons people write about dark or gross topics, including trauma coping . It can be good to help shine light on a serious experience or topic, such as sexual content involving minors, rape, abuse or incest, which should not be left in the dark. It’s how you handle it that really matters, which can vary, as there is no one way to do it. The bottom line is that none of that stuff is “cute” or “romantic.” For example, let’s say you like the movie “Thirteen”. I believe that movie tackles serious topics in an honest manner that gets its point across without featuring child porn. Not to mention that the movie was actually co-written by a 14 year old girl sharing some of her experiences, which shows the purpose of the movie. However, if you are an adult and like the movie because you like the scene of Tracy and Evie kissing, two 13 year old girls in a heavily toxic friendship, and you find it “cute,” I’m going to assume weird things about you. Or let’s say you like the book “Lolita” for its insight into the mind of a predator. Now compare that to liking the book because you too find Dolores attractive, and you relate to the pedophile. I know these probably arent the best examples, but hopefully this clears some things up a bit. A lot of the time it’s not the media’s fault, it’s how people view it, so I don’t believe in censorship. Like banning “The Catcher in The Rye” because one guy read it and killed John Lennon is stupid. But at the same time, look more closely at the media you are consuming. Think of the movie “Cuties”. Sure, the director claims in was not made to exploit children, but definitely exploits children by using suggestive angles of their child actors twerking. And guess what? Pedos loved it, even if that wasn’t the intention. What I’m trying to say is be unapologetic, but don’t cater to those who gain a certain gratification from it either. For the love of god, normalize a topic, but don’t NORMALIZE IT in the way it’s viewed as okay.
(and before you call me a hypocrite for liking South Park, I am fully aware of the gross people in the fandom. i am fully aware that the child characters in the show are put in suggestive situations. But it’s so absurd that you can’t take it so seriously, and those who do have a problem. It’s done for comedy and satire. Just because it is normalized in the show does not normalize it in the real world. Don’t copy cartoons silly. But making shota/lolicon is trying to normalize other forms of child porn by using the work around of “it’s not real”. See the difference?)

no but really in what world is mothwing “reduced to just leafpool’s wife” when in canon she barely even reacted to her death

the take that Manfred isn't an abusive father it's like, entirely insane to me.
he tried to get his own son guilty of committing murder (which can land you the death penalty in the AA universe), he constantly berated Miles in aai, and Franziska compares him to Blaise Debeste- a man who constantly berates and verbally abuses his own son.
also Franziska didn't get her obsession with perfection out of nowhere yk, she's still a teen who was until recently living under his roof still. I doubt she got her issues from magic and dust
oh also the take that you can't take aai as canon bc "Manfred wasn't like that with his kids before" is so funny because before aai we never saw Manfred interact with his kids aside from him trying to get Miles convicted of murder so it's not contradicting any previously established relationship that he had with his kids
not saying you can't enjoy Manfred bc he's one of my favorite villains, but denying that he was abusive and saying that he was a good father is a crazy claim

see I am very disjointed from a lot of nine/ten fandom discourse because I genuinely believe that in a different world where space boy was not to be seen, had an older Rose gone to the hospital and bumped into a certain Doctor Jones by a vending machine or as she was taking Rose’s vitals, she would have instantly hit it off with Martha. and probably flirted with her a little on accident and then on purpose when Martha flirted back

The pushback to the term "cultural Christianity" from atheists is real odd to me because, as someone who has been an atheist since 13, only ever went to church a handful of times never with my own family (made a note never to sleep over at that friends house on a Saturday again bc I HATED church it smelled like shit, was boring, pews are uncomfortable as fuck, and the religious people I knew were all wildly misogynistic and I've never been here for being told I was less of a person for being Born Like This), and generally had no actual connection to Christianity in a meaningful way but still only knows Christian mythology, has been steeped in Christian values I had to untangle, and my religious understandings are still deeply Christian.
Like Ive never paid attention to the bible, church, Jesus, Christian teachings, or whatever but if you asked me about any religion the one I'll reliably know the most about is Christianity. I don't know why atheists are offended by being called culturally Christian because they have bad blood with the religion because like sorry bruh that doesn't mean you're less indoctrinated by Christian values if the culture you grew up in is predominantly Christian. In fact I'd say that religion being this ubiquitous in the culture regardless of anyone's consent to exactly ONE religion being shoved down our throats is reason to team up with other religious folks who ALSO don't like being constantly evangelized to by the culture at large, not a reason to throw a fit because you don't like being tied to a religion that is so ingrained into the culture that shit like "oh my god" and "Jesus Christ" are common expressions of surprise regardless of how atheist you are. Like surely I'm not the only atheist to notice the shocking amount of cultural religious shit that works it's way into my life and speech despite having not set foot in a church since I was like 10, and I can't remember the last time I was in one before that.
Idk man cultural Christianity seems like a pretty damn useful term to describe my relationship with a religion I never fully bought into and then actively rejected as a child yet still hold weird connections to and knowledge of just because Christianity is so baked into the culture I grew up in like it or not. If you want to be mad, be mad at the Christians who stole your freedom from religion from you, not usually religious minorities who discuss cultural Christianity and how it damages them too.

this is my personal opinion on eddie’s character and you have been warned… it’s not a flattering one so if you love eddie don’t keep reading bc well you are probably not gonna like what i have to say under the cut
okay then…
gotta get something out of my chest: eddie is a boring, flat, and edging on obnoxious character that mostly has the pretty privilege going on for him which is just another standard white guy. yes, i teared up when his death scene came… because how it affected dustin. otherwise, couldn’t care less about him and his on the nose “i always run away/didnt run away this time” conflict
“oh, but eddie is a freak and treated as such, even hunted down and bullied. people can resonate with that” i mean… fine if you do, really, but also what about the Party? they are considered freaks, they are bullied, will even expresses even his closed ones make him feel like a freak. why about el? she was a freak too, the weirdo, the lab experiment that was hunted down and tortured. what about jonathan? he was the freak that probably killed his little brother in season one. we have seasons of these characters, characters who actually have depth to them with interesting conflicts and dynamics. and most importantly, characters who are freaks but that see each others as equals.
eddie? sure he’s a freak. a freak who likes to bee in power, sitting on his throne during DND sessions whit his group of sheep wearing all the same tees as if it was an uniform, going out of his way to jump on tables and yell in people’s faces bc he is not like other girls he is proud to be a freak and oppose to the status quo.
i mean, give me a break.

been looking in tags for a few days now to see if anyone else found the whole high cloud quintet and related story to be a bit.....poorly written, nonsensical, contradictory, full of plot holes and loose ends, etc. apparently i'm not the only one. (and i'm not even talking about shipping stuff, because any time I saw someone mad about bad writing, someone always replies to be homophobic and laugh about failed ships. weirdos.) it could have been so good but was thrown into the garbage for the most part (IF you noticed all the plot holes and contradiction. if not, then it's a fine enough story tbh. I expect most people to see it on surface level and not read all the little hidden lore bits and try to piece it together like my autistic brain did. which is ok! enjoy it if you liked it and ignore me 😆)

in 1 hour I will have officially relinquished the $1,032.96 that the library took from me by firing me for handing in my 2 weeks notice and then telling me I could only have it if I waive all my legal rights o7

Absolutely in love with the oblivion AU! I found elder scrolls through Skyrim but I’ve deep dived into the full lore of the games since then! I saw that you’ve said you’re sticking to the main story, have you thought about including bits of the dlc or anything like that? Sheogorath was always one of the interesting but cool characters in the game for me
I've played around with the idea of including Shivering Isles in the story, but their inclusion Heavily depends on how the main quest plays out (if we stick to the canon of the game, it's pretty sad, if it's a happier route, it's actually a dnf retirement home lmao)
since I've been toying with the idea of this being a fic (it probably won't, but I've written some scenes down), Dream arriving to the Shivering Isles would be part of the epilogue, since no one from the main quest is relevant in this new realm, unfortunately
I drew obliv!Dream as Sheogorath at one point, though :D you can tell it's before the face reveal from the heart smile

I firmly believe that a lot of the Byler hate comes from people who think that ST is the kind of lowbrow show that wrote Mileven badly because they didn't care and that the Duffers would never even think to make Byler canon. Between volumes one and two there were so many people supporting Byler because they thought it was a genuine possibility but then after Volume two crushed them, they joined the camp of antis that believed that we were delusional for thinking it would be made canon, and now most people who were former Bylers dislike the ship because they think it's all over, and this is also reflected in the views of the GA who think that since it didn't happen in volume 2, it won't happen ever and so they end up complaining about the way the story has been written and refusing to entertain the possibility that it could all be done like that for a reason since they don't want to get their hopes up and potentially get crushed again.
I've talked about this before, but: honestly I think a lot of the issue that we've just had a whole SWATH of popular tv in recent years that had writers finish off complex plots with horrifically written, underdeveloped narratives/surprises that devastated the hardcore fans of the shows (looking hard David and Dan of GoT, but they certainly aren't the only ones), which has left a lot of people ready and waiting to be disappointed by yet another favorite in ST.
I think a lot of people are more willing to write off what happened as shit writing than to believe it was done on purpose TO undermine mlvn and build up byler—and its because it's easier to believe the shitty relating of Mike/El compared to the two "platonic" male leads was an unintended consequence rather than meaningful action, the same way its been in a lot of other popular shows.
Given how many times writers of TV have fcked up the landing on both primary character relationships AND story in general (even without a queer element), their ongoing "its just bad writing, but also I don't know why they did xyz if" takes are understandable, if a bit frustrating for those of us who have spent the last year analyzing it. A lot of people on reddit rn honestly sound like me a few weeks after ST4 finished, because most of them have (quite fairly, if we're all honest with ourselves) not spent their fandom time connecting every little dot across 34 episodes of TV for fun.
Even so: I think most people "irritated" by mlvn while not shipping byler now will be pleasantly surprised if and when Byler gets its due —not necessarily because of "queer rep," but because it means that the way a show was written will have been intentional, and the writing and feelings caused by their earlier seasons will have a purpose rather than being the result of a writer having a plot line they were too stupid to see (or not capable enough) to follow through on. Mlvns who just get to yell and gloat about "winning" while most battle-weary fans stay silent is just part of the wait-and-see of the final season lmao
Thanks for the ask!

people keep making me think I'm smart and it's fucking with my fundamental understanding that I am simply a Person and I know what I know which is equal to what everyone else knows even when those people specialize in different knowledge than me. Like I had this general trust and respect that everyone knows something I don't and didn't consider that I, in turn, also know things that they do not 🤨 crazy how that works

I have 2 friends who respond to texts like maybe 5% of the time and often in days or weeks which is fine that's who they are were all to comfortable demanding instant attention from our friends etc etc this is all true, the downside is it gives me so much time to think "oh fuck they hate me and they're just being polite"
