1. More children are surviving today than ever before.
Close to 8 million more children in the world survive to see their fifth birthday than in 1990 â a 60 percent decline in annual under-five child mortality.Â
UNICEF and partners have contributed to this remarkable achievement through proven, sustainable solutions for improving maternal and child health care services and strengthening disease prevention â and delivering those solutions at scale...
2. Vaccines have saved 154 million lives in the last 50 years.
As the worldâs largest vaccine supplier, UNICEF procures and distributes enough vaccines annually to immunize 45 percent of the world's children. In 2023, UNICEF supplied 2.8 billion vaccine doses to 105 countries, up from just over 2 billion to 102 countries in 2020. Through widespread immunizations, polio is on the brink of eradication.
3. Safe water is available to over 2.1 billion more people compared to 20 years ago.
Consistent access to a sufficient supply of safe water for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene is the foundation for child survival, healthier lives, stronger economies and more sustainable societies. With support from UNICEF and partners, more than a quarter of the world's population gained access to safe and clean drinking water in the past two decades.
UNICEF-supported programs help ensure access to safe water for 35 million people around the world every year. UNICEF also leads coordinated emergency response efforts related to safe water access in roughly 85 percent of countries affected by crises. In 2023, over 42 million people in 73 countries were reached with emergency water services, helping to prevent outbreaks of cholera and other waterborne diseases.
To help build community resilience to climate shocks, UNICEF has also supported the installation of more than 8,900 solar-powered water systems in 56 countries â an important climate adaption measure that also reduces the use of fossil fuels.
4. The number of children with stunted growth due to malnutrition has declined by 40 percent since 2000.
For more than two decades, UNICEF has been the worldâs largest procurer of ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF), procuring up to 80 percent of global demand, ensuring children suffering from severe malnutrition can be treated successfully.
5. Over 68 million child marriages have been averted in the last 25 years, giving girls their childhoods back.
In the late 1990s, 1 in 4 young women aged 20 to 24 were married as children. Today, it's 1 in 5. UNICEF has played an important role in global efforts to end child marriage, supporting 35 countries in implementing action plans, and working at the community level and across the health, education and other sectors to increase knowledge and change attitudes around the practice.
In 2023, UNICEF reached 11 million adolescent girls with prevention and care interventions empowering them to delay marriage and choose their own futures.Â
6. Fewer kids are out of school.
The world stands on the cusp of realizing primary education as a basic right of every child. A world where more children learn is a world that is healthier, more prosperous and more resilient.
In the early 1950s, roughly half of all primary school-aged children were out of school. Now it's less than 10 percent. And every year, 23 million more girls are completing secondary school compared to a decade ago...
7. The world is on track to eliminate open defecation by 2030.
In the last two decades, 2.5 billion people have gained access to safely managed sanitation, while the number of people practicing open defecation has also declined by two-thirds â from 1.3 billion in 2000 to 419 million in 2022 â putting the world on track to eliminate the practice entirely.Â
Ending open defecation drastically lowers the risks of diseases and malnutrition among children in low-income and lower-middle-income countries. Child deaths from diarrhea â a leading killer of young children â have already decreased by 60 percent...

Countries that prioritize birth registration see rapid progress. In CĂŽte dâIvoire, birth registration prevalence rose steadily from 65 percent in 2012 to 96 percent by 2021, proving that change at scale is possible.

Prayers to the Theoi in light of the U.S Inauguration
May Father Zeus judge the actions of the United States and see those who abuse their status as leaders brought to justice. May He protect the vulnerable; may Zeus, patron of foreigners, stand guard over all those threatened by deportation and xenophobic violence. May tragedy fall on those who do not treat each foreigner as if they were a god in disguise, who violate the holy law of xenia. May He give us all the strength to resist injustice however possible. May He empower those underneath the boot of American imperialism and raise them up to freedom. Zeus loves the compassionate, generous, honest, humble leaders, and He despises the vicious, greedy, deceitful, and hubristic leaders.
May Lady Athena raise up the people, that they may govern themselves. May She cast her shining eyes on this government and, when it is found lacking, may it be transformed by Her. May Athena, the Maiden, strike down all those who seek to control women and those they see as women. May Athena bless all those who fight for justice. May She make them clever, brave, bold when needed and peaceful when possible. May She guide us to true wisdom, and give her favor to the people who seek deep knowledge and critical thought. May Athena tear down lies, deception, and all forms of trickery that seek to disguise vice as virtue.

UN Committee Criticizes Canadaâs Immigration Detention Practices
Experts Urge End to Immigration Detention

This week, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities issued a bleak assessment of Canadaâs immigration detention system, calling for Canada to protect the legal capacity rights of people with disabilities in detention and urging an end to immigration detention altogether.
The committeeâs findings, released after a review of Canadaâs disability rights record, echo concerns that Human Rights Watch and our partners have raised for years.
The committee warned that asylum seekers and migrants with disabilities are disproportionately detained, often in correctional facilities where they may be placed in solitary confinement if they experience a mental health crisis.
The committeeâs message is clear: Canada should âend the use of immigration detention by increasing community-based, independent alternatives that provide access to holistic supports, such as housing, healthcare, mental health services, legal representation, disability-related supports, and childrenâs services.â The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has also long called for the gradual abolition of immigration detention on human rights grounds.
The committee also condemned Canadaâs use of substitute decision-making for people with disabilities in immigration detention. Under this practice, designated representativesâappointed without meaningful assessment or oversightâare empowered to make crucial decisions on behalf of detainees, often without detaineesâ knowledge or consent. Human Rights Watch has documented how this system deprives people of their legal capacity, often with life-altering or even life-endangering consequences.
The committee urged Canada to replace this system with a supported decision-making model that upholds detaineesâ will and preferences.

Spy x Family Ch. 108: Fear
Don't get me wrong, that panel with Twilight remembering his friends was beautiful. I think he feels nostalgic for that connection with other people. However, I think what really caught my attention in this chapter was Melinda.
Come on, look at this:
Look at this face of terror. And she was just remembering her husband's eyes!
A long time ago, when we just met Melinda, I wrote this theory about her being afraid of her husband. Today, it was finally confirmed.
I feel so sad for her. Melinda has probably been carrying this alone for a long time. I doubt she's shared her fears with any friends or family members because, who would believe the illustrious political leader could be an abusive man? This is especially true if there's no actual physical violence in the relationship. However, like I said before, violence is more than that.
Something tells me that the violence in their relationship is mostly psychological. Donovan Desmond uses his authority to tell Melinda what to do, to create fear, to keep her away from their children.
Melinda appears as such a composed woman who has her life together in front of others, and only someone as emotionally perceptive and caring as Yor would notice something is wrong. There's a shame component in abusive relationships: "How did this happen to me? I used to be so strong and brave," combined with disbelief: "Am I overreacting? Is he really that bad? Why am I afraid of him if he hasn't really done anything to me?"
Hopefully, in time, Melinda will realize that fear is not only her responsibility; even if her husband wasn't physically abusive, his behavior caused her fear.
Without a doubt is a complicated issue, which brings me to something that will probably complicate things even more:
Yup, Twilight.
I'll admit that this is the first time that I felt very uncomfortable with what Twilight is about to do, but that's exactly the point. Good fiction/literature is suppose to move something within us, even if at times, it makes us feel uncomfortable.
You probably imagine why: Melinda is a person in dire need of therapy. She deserves (and needs!) a true professional and instead, she getting someone who is only trying to gather information.
HOWEVER...
Time and again, Twilight has shown that despite his line of work, he'll always try to do the right thing and the least amount of harm. So, I'm hoping he will apply that in this specific situation. My guess is that it will start as a way to get information (his classic "for the mission") but then, as Melinda opens up, he will actually give her good advice and hopefully empower her, as a real therapist would do!
Something else to keep in mind is that Melinda story of domestic violence could trigger Twilight himself in some way, given his own family history. We will have to wait to see how that goes.
Bonus
A final note on Melinda's beliefs in occultism: it makes sense.
I won't comment too much on the specific meaning of the cards because my knowledge is limited and I'm skeptical about that. But I will say that it makes sense that someone with so much fear and uncertainty in her life would believe in something that would bring her reassurance that everything will be okay or try to know the future in order to protect herself. (I really want to give Melinda a hug.)
On the other hand, you know who doesn't believe in that?:

this conversation makes me a bit shyâŠâŠ.. but you asked on the right moment because i am listening to radiohead and i am a emotional. im going to over share and iâll regret it at 3am but who cares!
so.
number one. no matter what i will say, no matter how much i talk about my drs' romantic relationships, the platonic ones are the reasons why i even started shifting in the first place. friendship is and forever will be the thing i crave for. here i was wronged so, so, so many times. what i feel for my friends itâs love. i love them like a mother loves her childrenâŠ.because i canât be casual about anything. and now i am constantly angry because my love has been betrayed. everyday is a constant reminder that the people in my dr are not only friends who i am just around because we share classes or whatever, they have a piece of me in their soul like they are in mine. my heart has sections and the majority of them are about my friendsâŠand they are going to take care of that piece of heart i gave them. i can be around them without feeling sick worrying if they are like everyone else. long live the friendships!! (especially with my girls. thereâs just something about friendships with them thatâŠâŠi feel constantly if i am in the void. so like peace? this is not applicable for friendships breakupsâŠahahahahâŠ)
number two. knowledge; and i donât mean it in an academic way. like, i will also do that.. but i want to expand my knowledge about different kinds of human experiences. david bowie said that love dares you to change the way of caring, and this is exactly what i am going for⊠i want to be tested constantly so i can evolve. universe! i am easily bored. give me some suffering so i can understand what someone near (or far away) me is experiencing. this is not a very amazing mentality to haveâŠ..but what can i say. i am nothing if not a bunch of emotions mixed to each other and walking around my body hand in hand while leaving chaos in the logical part of the brain. this is also why i choose an enemies to loversâŠ.it will challenge me. itâs absolutely perfect.
number three. my mom. i wonât say anything else, but she had to make it in the list.
number four. you know how some witches use magick to feel empowered? this is me with shifting. i wasnât wronged only in friendships; so shifting just gives me the opportunity toâŠ. not control, butâŠ..something like that. if you know you know.
number five. understand. you can connect this with the second point. understand what? donât know. but i want to understand something.
number six. food. food is about experiences and emotions and itâs a story of cultures and love and a family and inside jokes. i want all of it. because i am greedy.

Queen Insu (1437â1504), also known as Queen Sohye, was a shrewd political figure of the Joseon dynasty and Koreaâs first female author.
A scholarly lady
Born and raised in the capital, Insu was likely taught Confucian moral principles from an early age. Coming from a family with a strong scholarly tradition and ties to the royal court, she was immersed in an environment of learning. Fluent in Chinese, Korean, and Sanskrit, and well-versed in literary classics, her education was exceptional for a woman of her time. She likely learned alongside her brothers.
At around 15, she married Crown Prince Uigyeong, and her father-in-law, King Sejo, praised her as a filial daughter.
Widowhood and regency
Insuâs life took a dramatic turn when she became a widow at just 19. Her husband, who had never ascended the throne, left her with three young children. After King Sejoâs death, his son Yejong briefly ruled but also passed away. In 1469, Insuâs second son, Seongjong, was chosen as king by her mother-in-law, Queen Jeonghui. The following year, her late husband was posthumously enshrined as king, and Insu received the title of Queen Insu.
Initially, Queen Jeonghui, was offered the regency but hesitated, suggesting Insu take the role instead. Though Jeonghui ultimately accepted, she lacked Insu's knowledge of classical Chinese. Insu, with her exceptional education and powerful family connections, became a key figure at court, wielding significant influence. While she didnât hold an official position, she likely co-ruled with Jeonghui, assisting in crucial state decisions.
The Naehun
It was during this period that Insu authored the Naehun (Instructions for Women), establishing herself as Koreaâs first female writer. This conduct manual outlined how women should behave according to Confucian ideals, emphasizing chastity, discretion, gentle speech, and etiquette.
Insu advocated for female education, arguing that it reinforced moral integrity and prepared women for their roles as wives and mothers. She criticized the trend of teaching daughters only poetry and music. However, she maintained that womenâs roles should remain advisory and supportive.
The Naehun may also have served a political purpose, legitimating her mother-in-law's regency by citing examples of capable Chinese empresses. It reinforced the idea that women could govern wisely. Insu was thus also able to empower herself and present herself as a matriarch.
Queen mother
When Jeonghuiâs regency ended in 1477, Insu continued to hold an honored position as the kingâs mother. A devoted supporter of Buddhism, she argued against suppressing the religion, fearing it would lead to public unrest. In 1492, she spoke out against excluding commoners from monastic life and taught her five grandsons Buddhist and Confucian texts, which she recited from memory.
However, family tensions escalated when Queen Yun, King Seongjongâs consort, physically attacked him, leaving scars on his face. Insu took decisive action, first sending Queen Yun back to her family, then ordering her execution by poison.
The ascension of Insuâs grandson, Yeonsangun, in 1494 marked a dark chapter in her life. Yeonsangun, a violent and tyrannical ruler, was Queen Yunâs son. Upon discovering the truth about his motherâs death, he directed his fury at Insu. In 1504, Yeonsangun attacked his grandmother, leading to her death on May 11 at the palace. She was buried in a tomb that symbolically outranked her husbandâs.

Mythological beasts are frequently representations and compartmentalizations of societal fears. Take the dragon: a type of European kaiju that, in contemporary European depictions, represents the fear of a bad king or other political figure. This representation evolved slowly and, ironically, solidified only after most monarchies of Europe fell. Pieces of media like Beuwulf, Saint George and the Dragon, The Völsunga Saga, The Faerie Queene, The Hobbit, Dungeons and Dragons, The Elder Scrolls, as well as folkloric stories like that of the Lindwurm and Tarrasque chart the development of this symbology over history.
The dragon:
Kidnaps princesses (endangers the future of the royal lineage)
Hoards gold (refuses to enrich the kingdom by spending anything)
Terrorizes townsfolk (imposes unjust, tyrannical rule)
Breathes fire (spreads devastation)
And is slain by a knight (the social position of a knight is occupied almost exclusively by children of noble houses. The implication here being that the dragon is rightfully disposed of by an inter-elite power struggle)
Likewise, the werewolf represents societal feats of several types that all relate to a central theme of savagery, of two primary veins: human savagery and environmental savagery. People today have poor comprehension of what true wilderness looks like. Ask a veteran what Vietnam was like, that's what the Teutoburg forest and, for that matter, almost every European forest was like until just a few hundred years ago. That shit was dark and scary. Thicket was so abundant and the canopy so heavy that visibility of less than 10 meters was common. Different crops require different soil conditions, and before the introduction of the potato and other crops to Europe, many areas were unsuitable for barley, wheat, millet, oats, etc, and therefore just⊠completely unsuitable for agriculture. With no profitable land use to justify clearcutting, there were vast areas of untamed wilds. The dark forests were imagined to be able to contain anything, even monsters. The type of monster that could prowl just out of sight and yet startlingly close.
Certain murders were so brutal that people refused to believe them to be human work, and needed to ascribe to a bestial party. Warriors across history (Aztec jaguars, Norse Ulfhednars, etc) used animals as symbols of their ferocity, thinking along these lines. Human bloodlust extended to depths that we refuse to recognize as human, and the werewolf also represents this.
The witch, the empowered woman.
The vampire represents the fear of the Jew.
This is not an exaggeration or a fringe theory, itâs baked into the very core of European vampire mythology. The archetype is steeped in antisemitic tropes, drawing from centuries of paranoia about Jewish assimilation, financial influence, and cultural survival. This archetype did not emerge in a vacuum. The antisemitic construction of Jewish identity in medieval and modern Europe shaped the vampireâs core traits, and from it was built a monster that could seamlessly embody the deepest fears of Christian European societies, fears about assimilation, power, rootlessness, and economic control, all while claiming to be just another piece of folklore. Where the werewolf embodies the fear of regression into primal violence and untamed wilds, and where the dragon is the fear of an aristocracy grown fat and incompetent, the vampire reflects a different kind of anxiety: the fear of the Other who blends in too well. The Vampire moves through societies unnoticed, quietly accumulating wealth, knowledge, and power. It crosses borders effortlessly, carrying its curse from nation to nation. It is aristocratic yet rootless, influential yet foreign, a permanent outsider who thrives by being inside.
The vampireâs ability to pass as human reflects one of the oldest European anxieties about Jewish communities: the fear of assimilation. While Jews in Europe faced constant marginalization, those who integrated too successfully into mainstream society were viewed with equal suspicion. The very act of existing in banking, politics, or academia, fields where Jews, often forced out of land ownership and trade guilds, historically found opportunity, became evidence of a secret agenda. The idea that Jews could be among the people but never of the people, that they outwardly conformed while covertly undermining, mirrors the vampireâs double life.
Bram Stokerâs Dracula plays this fear straight. The Count is no mindless beast. He is an intelligent, strategic, plotting figure who methodically expands his influence. He is not a rampaging invader but a subtle one, acquiring property in London, blending into the city, and corrupting English women. His invasion is not one of brute force but of clandestine manipulation. His very existence threatens to change British society from within, much like contemporary fears of Jewish immigration and cultural influence. The novel also explicitly likens vampirism to disease, reinforcing the antisemitic trope of Jews as bearers of plague and sickness
Just as antisemitic conspiracies have long framed Jews as secret rulers of finance, media, and politics, Dracula does not simply kill his victims: he controls them. He mesmerizes, seduces, and turns his enemies into his thralls, all while maintaining the illusion of civility. The Victorian fear of Jewish influence and the literary fear of vampiric mind control are two sides of the same paranoid coin.
One of the most enduring antisemitic tropes in Europe was the fear of Jewish mobility. The idea that Jews were always moving: that they had no fixed homeland, that they could enter and leave societies as they pleased was a source of deep resentment. Jews had a unique ability to escape persecution, to establish networks across borders, to find distant allies when local ones failed. European xenophobia resented this, and nowhere is that resentment clearer than in the vampire myth. The vampire, much like the imagined Jew, is never truly from anywhere. Yes, it may have an ancestral home (the Eastern European castle, the shadowy Transylvanian estate), but it is fundamentally unbound to a single place. It moves fluidly between cities, between nations, bringing its influence wherever it goes. Dracula is not terrifying because he exists in Transylvania. He is terrifying because he leaves Transylvania and comes to London. His ability to cross borders mirrors the Jewish diasporaâs ability to move, adapt, and survive despite centuries of persecution. This taps into an old European fear: that Jews, unbound by national loyalty, could never be fully controlled. The wandering vampire, like the wandering Jew, is a figure of deep-seated anxiety: not just because he is foreign, but because he does not stay foreign.
Historically, the European imagination has always had a special paranoia reserved for Jews, figures simultaneously seen as too integrated and yet fundamentally foreign, too powerful yet victimized, too wealthy yet parasitic. The vampire, an undead aristocrat with an unquenchable thirst, is the perfect folkloric embodiment of this contradiction.
The most obvious link between the vampire and European antisemitism is the myth of blood libel: the centuries-old conspiracy theory that Jews kidnapped Christian children and used their blood for rituals, particularly making matzah. I donât think I need to elaborate too much to draw the connection between allegations that Jews used the blood of goyim for sustenance and a mythological beast that uses the blood of the innocent for sustenance. This grotesque fabrication led to pogroms, massacres, and enduring accusations of Jewish parasitism. The idea of a creature whose very existence depends on secretly draining the lifeblood of innocents is an obvious echo of these accusations.
The vampireâs unnatural hunger also aligns with longstanding fears about Jewish economic roles. European societies, often banning Jews from landowning or trade guilds, forced them into financial professions such as moneylending, positions that made them indispensable yet despised. Thus, the vampire is not just a bloodsucker but an economic one, hoarding wealth while contributing nothing (a staple accusation against Jews, despite the fact that Jewish communities were often economically marginalized). The vampireâs aversion to the cross is one of its most overtly Christian-coded weaknesses, reinforcing the antisemitic underpinnings of the archetype. If the vampire is a stand-in for the Jewâan outsider infiltrating Christian society, hoarding wealth, corrupting the innocentâthen the cross is a clear symbol of Christian supremacy, the force that repels and defeats the encroaching Other. This dynamic maps onto medieval Christian narratives of Jewish theological and spiritual inferiority, in which Jews were depicted as enemies of Christ who could only be redeemed through conversion or subjugation. Just as the vampire cannot bear the sight of the cross, Jews in Christian Europe were often forced to visibly submit to Christian authorityâwhether through mass conversions, forced public disputations, or the wearing of identifying badges. The crossâs power over the vampire echoes the theological claim that Christianity alone can vanquish evil, reinforcing the idea that Jewish presence in Christian lands was inherently corrupting, something to be resisted, expelled, or destroyed.
Unlike the werewolf, whose monstrous nature is barely hidden beneath the surface, the vampire is a master of disguise. It looks human, speaks human languages, dresses like a European aristocrat, but it is something else entirely. It is not merely an external threat but an internal one, an infiltrator, a parasite hiding among its prey. This aligns precisely with antisemitic fears about Jewish assimilation: the idea that Jews, despite integrating into European society, remained alien and subversive.
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the infamous antisemitic forgery, paints Jews as conspirators who secretly control the world. The vampire myth plays into this same anxiety: here is a creature that appears civilized but secretly plots against humanity. Count Dracula, for instance, is not a rampaging beast but a calculating mastermind who orchestrates his spread into London like a military strategist or a corrupt financier (depending on which antisemitic stereotype you prefer). The fear is not just that he is powerful, but that his power is hidden.
The idea of a vampire coven as a stand-in for the Jewish cabal is one of the strongest recurring motifs in vampire fiction, paralleling antisemitic conspiracy theories that claim Jews operate in secret networks to manipulate world affairs. These narratives frame vampires as an unseen, tightly organized elite that controls human society from the shadows, just as antisemitic conspiracies depict Jews as clandestine rulers of politics, finance, and culture. The Volturi, The Masquerade, The Vampire Council, Draculaâs Court, all of these mirror various forms of ZOG conspiracism to one degree or another.
Physical descriptions of vampires, particularly in 19th and early 20th-century literature, were not subtle in their alignment with antisemitic imagery. Count Dracula is described with an "aquiline nose," "peculiarly arched nostrils," and "sharp white teeth." These are not neutral traits. They are lifted directly from the antisemitic caricatures that filled European political cartoons. Stoker was writing at a time when Britain was panicking about Eastern European Jewish immigration, so the portrayal of vampires as having these Jewish features is unsurprising. The vampireâs foreignness, reinforced by its physical attributes, marks it as an outsider who cannot be trusted.
This is not unique to Dracula. Early vampire films like Nosferatu (being merely Dracula with the serial numbers filed off) exaggerated these features even further. Count Orlokâs hooked nose, elongated fingers, and rat-like demeanor align perfectly with the way Jews were depicted in early 20th-century antisemitic propaganda. The film takes Draculaâs subtext and makes it explicit: the vampire, like the imagined Jew, is a grotesque foreign invader who must be stopped before he corrupts the innocent. Count Orlokâs also literally spreads plague by controlling rats, directly mirroring European antisemitism and aligning Jews with disease in the popular imagination. In Carmilla, the titular vampire infiltrates aristocratic families, seducing and manipulating women while maintaining an illusion of innocence. Her ability to blend in and subvert social norms mirrors the conspiracy that Jews secretly manipulate governments, culture, and morality.
Similarly, the vampireâs wealth and status align with the old aristocratic paranoia about Jewish financiers. Just as Jews were accused of controlling economies through banking and usury, the vampire hoards gold and property, living in a secluded, fortress-like estate. The difference, of course, is that while Jews were often forced into financial professions as a matter of survival, the vampire chooses its parasitism, it is a predator by nature.
Another piece of this antisemitic puzzle is the vampireâs immortality. European folklore was filled with narratives about Jewish rootlessness, the idea that Jews, scattered across the world, never truly belonged anywhere. Jews were framed as an unchanging and eternal presence: foreigners who, despite persecution and exile, never truly disappeared. This is exemplified in the myth of the Wandering Jew, a Christian legend about a Jewish man cursed to walk the earth forever. The vampireâs eternal existence mirrors this idea, another Other who cannot be killed, cannot be expelled, and cannot be fully integrated into the societies it inhabits. The Jew, and the vampire, cannot be eradicated and always seems to resurface.
Vampires, like the stereotyped Jewish banker, do not produce anything. They consume. They do not labor in the fields or contribute to industry. Vampires live off the labor of others without producing anything themselves. They extract wealth from those who do. They control vast resources but do so in a secretive and unnatural way. They are not merely rich: they are unnaturally rich, wealthy beyond human lifespans, hoarding gold that has compounded across centuries and across human lifespans. They manipulate markets (or minds), they consolidate influence, and they always seem to have more power than they should.
This echoes historical stereotypes about Jewish financial power. The image of the Jewish banker, and particularly the Jewish banking family, the archetypical example being the Rothschilds, manipulating global economies maps neatly onto the idea of the vampire aristocrat and their coven who puppeteer society from the shadows. The enduring myth of Jewish financial conspiracy as seen in Bilderberg conspiracies, WEF conspiracies, etc, finds its gothic counterpart in the vampireâs role as a hidden predator of wealth and vitality. The idea that Jews secretly control global economies maps perfectly onto the vampireâs role as a shadowy, omnipotent predator.
The vampire, more than any other monster, reflects the anxieties of the societies that create it. Unlike the werewolf, whose horror lies in its loss of control, or the dragon, whose terror stems from brute force, the vampireâs horror is one of subtlety. It does not attack: it corrupts. It does not rampage: it manipulates. It is powerful, wealthy, and, most horrifying of all: hidden and mobile. Like all monsters, vampires reflect the fears of the societies that create them. The vampire is not just a bloodsucker, it is a construct of European paranoia, a vessel for anxieties about Jews as economic, social, and political infiltrators. By mapping these fears onto a supernatural figure, European cultures could demonize Jewish people while pretending it was just fiction.
The historical underpinnings of antisemitism remain embedded in the DNA of the archetype of the vampire. When a vampire is inserted into a modern story as allegory or to critique, the history of the vampire inherently changes the critique. a story where a CEO is a vampire is usually not just a critique of corporate influence on society, it becomes a critique of Jewish corporate influence on society, either that CEOs are too jewish or wielding power too Jewishly.
The Vampire as a cultural figure has been extremely long lasting, as has antisemitism as a stigma. The connection between the vampire archetype and antisemitic depictions of Jews is not confined to the dusty pages of Gothic literature. It thrives in modern media, where the vampire remains the go-to monster for representing Jewish figures, both subtly and overtly. This persistent metaphor reveals how deeply embedded antisemitic tropes are within Western cultural narratives, often resurfacing even in spaces that consider themselves progressive or socially aware.
A striking example of this phenomenon is the frequent depiction of Stephen Miller, a Jewish political advisor in the Trump administration, as a vampire. In The Majority Report, a popular left-leaning YouTube channel, a segment titled "Real-Life Vampire Stephen Miller Delivers Absolutely Chilling Response At CPAC" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBzHHAxkwQw taps into this imagery. The fact that Sam Seder himself is Jewish proves that Jews are not inoculated against the effectiveness of this bigotry and the symbolism of the Vampire. Similarly, comedian John Oliver referred to Miller as a vampire in a segment on Last Week Tonight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfvWnFbClp0 reinforcing this association within mainstream progressive discourse. Chillingly, Oliver in other segments has played into specific Vampiric tropes when discussing Miller.
These comparisons are not isolated jokes; they are part of a broader pattern. The vampire archetype, secretive, manipulative, and parasitic, resonates because it taps into historical antisemitic stereotypes. The fact that these comments come from progressive media, which typically opposes overt bigotry, underscores how normalized this imagery has become. The invocation of the vampire is less about Miller's politics and more about the ease with which his Jewish identity can be coded through this well-worn cultural shorthand.
As aforementioned, Marvel Comics portrayed Henry Kissinger, the Jewish former U.S. Secretary of State, as a vampire and servant of Dracula. This depiction not only draws on Kissinger's reputation as a shadowy geopolitical strategist but also literalizes the antisemitic trope of the Jew as an undead puppet master pulling the strings behind global events. In the Marvel universe, Kissinger isn't just influential; he's an actual vampire, feeding off the lifeblood of nations in service to a more powerful, immortal overlord.
This portrayal reflects how fiction often amplifies real-world prejudices under the guise of creative freedom. The vampire here is not just a metaphor but an explicit characterization, reinforcing the idea of Jews as inherently connected to dark, supernatural forces. It aligns with historical narratives that cast Jews as conspiratorial, controlling, and inhumanly resilient.
Much of newer media has not evolved past playing into the same tropes. In Marvel Comics, Dracula is often depicted as an aristocratic, highly intelligent manipulator who controls pawns across the world, with him being deeply entrenched in politics and media, akin to antisemitic conspiracy theories of Jewish global influence. Among the servants of Dracula, of course: Henry Kissinger, noted Jew. In Castlevania (Netflix series) Dracula is portrayed as a near-omnipotent ruler with boundless resources, accumulated across centuries. His vast, hidden network of allies from Styria to Japan and ability to project power from afar reinforce the trope of Jewish financial control. His Castleâs ability to teleport mirrors fears of Jewish mobility across borders. The use of âDistance mirrorsâ in communication and transport similarly reinforce this fear and antisemitic fears of cabal conspiracies.
The vampire myth, often interpreted as a reflection of societal fears surrounding the "Other," can also be examined through the lens of Jewish theological concepts, particularly the Brit Bein HaBetarim. This foundational covenant, described in Bereshit, established an everlasting pact between God and Abramâs descendants. The enduring nature of this covenant, along with its promises of eternal lineage, wealth, and survival through oppression, provides an intriguing framework for understanding how Jewish identity has been mythologized and, at times, demonized through the figure of the vampire.
Genesis 17:7 states: "I will maintain My covenant between Me and you, and your offspring to come, as an everlasting covenant throughout the ages, to be God to you and to your offspring to come." This divine assurance of continuity is a spiritual form of immortality. While individual Jews are mortal, the Jewish people as a collective entity, Am Yisrael, are eternal, bound by an unbreakable covenant that transcends time and geography.
This concept mirrors the vampireâs defining trait: immortality. The vampire, like the Jewish people, endures through ages, unyielding in the face of external threats, perpetually surviving and adapting. However, whereas Jewish endurance is a testament to resilience, the vampireâs eternal existence is often portrayed as both a blessing and a curse, reflecting ambivalent feelings toward longevity and survival against the odds. The antisemitic imagination twists Jewish covenantal survival into something unnatural and menacing: an entity that cannot be eradicated, no matter how fiercely it is hunted.
Genesis 15:14 promises: "But I will execute judgment on the nation they shall serve, and in the end they shall go free with great wealth." This assurance of eventual prosperity has been weaponized in antisemitic stereotypes, framing Jewish success as evidence of hidden influence or malevolent power. Similarly, vampires are frequently depicted as ancient aristocrats hoarding vast fortunes amassed over centuries.
Genesis 15:13 states: "Know well that your offspring shall be strangers in a land not theirs, and they shall be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years." This foreshadowing of the Israelite experience in Egypt prefigures the broader Jewish diaspora experience: perpetual outsiders navigating foreign lands, often subjected to marginalization and suspicion.
The vampire, too, is an eternal outsider, unable to fully integrate into human society, existing on the fringes, hidden yet present. The fear of the âstrangerâ or the âinfiltratorâ is central to both antisemitic narratives and vampire mythology. Vampires, like Jews in the diaspora, are depicted as simultaneously visible and invisible, integrated into society yet fundamentally apart from it. This dichotomy evokes anxiety about assimilation and hidden influence and dual loyalty, fears historically projected onto Jewish communities.
Circumcision, the physical mark of the covenant, is described in Genesis 17:13: "They must be circumcised, homeborn and purchased alike. Thus shall My covenant be marked in your flesh as an everlasting pact." This bodily sign of Jewish identity has historically been a source of both communal solidarity and external hostility, fueling antisemitic fascination and demonization.
The focus on Jewish bodies as different, marked, or "other" is reflected in vampire mythology through the vampire's distinctive physical traits: fangs, pallor, and a body that defies natural laws. Moreover, the act of circumcision, often misunderstood and exoticized in antisemitic rhetoric, ties into fears of bodily control and transformation, themes central to vampire lore. Vampires transform their victims through the act of biting, an intimate, invasive process that alters the body permanently, a distorted echo of the covenantal marking.
These tropes and parallels between the Brit Bein HaBetarim and the characteristics of vampires are awfully precise to be coincidental. The vampire myth emerged long after the Bible was written, after the ethnogenesis of Jews, and after these antisemitic stereotypes had developed. Christian authors, well-acquainted with both Jewish texts and Jewish communities, would have drawn from these sources in shaping the vampire archetype. Immortality, wealth, exile, and bodily difference are all elements rooted in Jewish theology and history, twisted into the framework of a monstrous archetype designed to evoke fear and loathing of exactly the people to whom this covenant applies. These tropes draw from historical anxieties about Jewish economic roles in European societies, particularly in contexts where Jews were restricted to specific occupations such as money lending. The vampire, much like the antisemitic stereotype of the "wealthy, influential Jew," is depicted as a manipulator of economies, pulling strings from the shadows. Where the covenant promises divine reward, the vampire myth recasts that endurance as parasitic exploitation.
Understanding the vampire as a cultural construct shaped by antisemitic narratives allows us to see how myths are used to dehumanize marginalized groups. The near seamlessness with which an illustration from Der StĂŒrmer fits into contemporary anti-Zionist âartâ underscores that these depictions are part of a long-standing visual lexicon of antisemitic propaganda, adapted for modern political contexts. These images claim to critique policy or personalities but instead resurrect age-old conspiratorial fantasies, transforming Jews and their supporters from people into shadowy, manipulative, and bloodthirsty monsters or their thralls. The past does not just echo in these portrayals; it is repackaged and resold under the guise of contemporary critique, making its ideological lineage all the more insidious.
This reveals an unsettling reality: that antisemitic narratives are so deeply embedded in Western culture that even those who claim to oppose racism, fascism, and xenophobia often reproduce its most virulent forms without hesitation. The vampire, once a Gothic fiction laced with antisemitic anxieties, remains a political weapon. Its imagery resurfacing in modern caricatures of Jewish figures, from world leaders to businessmen to entire communities. These symbols endure because they continue to serve the same purpose they always have: to delegitimize, to dehumanize, and to justify violence. In this way, the myths of the past do not simply persist: they continue to shape the present, lurking beneath the surface of political discourse like the very creatures they invoke.

AAVE specific genders/roles
Boi is a gender referring to masculinity stemming from outside of white cishetnormativity, used in other contexts to talk about queer or black transmasc masculinity. Boy and Boi were also used by white men and women to demean grown black men and reposition them as younger and therefore lower on the caste. Boi is then used as a reclamation of said term.
Boi is not the same as the western binary gender, which was made similarly to the white race to enforce the difference between black men and white men, even id both are considered males. Since male is a scientific term and man is a gender, black men were denied manhood as a way to further dehumanize them from society, especially since black men were typically used as "breeding bulls" to increase profit for plantation owners during slavery, and this phenomenon is still used to this day in kink spaces.
Boi not only focuses on uplifting black masculinity but deconstructing toxic masculinity learned from the white man in order to "get by". Black men are deemed aggressive and less innocent daily, are institutionalized more than any other race, and deal with microagressions that force them to code switch often and play along with the gender roles of white people, leading them to fall into right wing pipelines. Reclaimed, boi serves as a gender for those who wish to discover themselves outside of the white gaze of manhood.

Gurl/Qirl is a gender related to femininity outside of white cishetnormativity. Gurl is usually used as a way to refer to women with sass or flamboyance, and can be reclaimed. Other terms include "huzz" and "girldem" (but are discouraged to be used as they objectify women.)
Black women are often sorted into two categories, hypersexual or aggressive protectors - seen in the Jezebel and Mammy stereotypes. Due to the climate of the slave trade, enslaved women were then viewed as lustful and welcoming to any and all caretaking (wet-nursing, used to increase profit by forced pregnancy). The increased sexualization of black girls and women in those times and today made for the term qirl to be used as empowering the self while also recognizing that the mistreatment of black women is inherently about their body and their roots in African culture. To this day, black women and girls are demeaned and harassed publicly by other races/genders and are called "ghetto" and "thots" for the same trope of them looking like Jezebels and demons.
Not only does qirl as a gender reclaim that history and use it to further themselves from white womanhood (as white women were less likely to actually care for their own children at the time), qirl is the opposite of those sterotypes and includes femininity that isn't sexual, isn't always violent, and isn't always about the body but the mind, the intelligence, and the excellence in their knowledge.

Bree/Mop are jive terms, mostly relating to black cis womanhood in the jazz scene and those who seemed to present in such way, usually femininely. Other terms include duchess, wren, queen, and chick. For young/girlhood, "pigeon" is the right term.
These terms are usually used not as genders but as presentations of genders, in this case, the presentation of cis qirls. While not all qirls present using jazz representation, it is important to note that jazz and blues were made by african american people, and therefore any ethnic history a qirl has might uniquely stem from jazz influence or culture. This is the same for rock and hip hop.
Gate/Lane are masculine jive terms. They refer to all black cis men, but lane specifically refers to a younger "unprofessional" black man. A jack refers to a group of black men and pops is fathering age, usually 30+.
The same that was said about cis bree qirls can be said about cis gate bois. I will personally say that anyone can reclaim these two terms as a trans boi/qirl and it won't bother me or anyone else but they were used to refer to cishood and might reflect that way due to the climate around cross-dressing and queer people during the time (which was more violent than it is today).
Nullagender, Nulla, is someone lacking a gender (genderless) due to not relating to the white womanhood and manhood binaries of Western society. Is specifically for black people who feel left out of the gender binary for their race and have chosen to deny it all together and become a nulla.
Nulla sounds similarly to the n-word and might be pronounced that way too. It may or may not have been the intention. There are many black genderqueer or agender people who have experiences where they feel as though the gender binary is exclusively used to justify whiteness being higher than other races, with some races not being able to experience Western gender because of this, so said black agender folk become distant or reclaim the feeling of not fitting in in order to defy the gender binary completely.
Nulla flag

Boi-qirl is a term coined in 2023 by mogaimagic in relation to the previous terms. Boi-qirl can be spelled boiqirl, boi-qirl, or boirl without changing pronunciation. It is a bigender term where a black person is both a boi and a qirl, whether cis or trans. Boiqirlflux is a genderflux term for those who are bois and also qirls and fluctuate between the two.

Soul is a gender modality that is used similarly to trans, and refers to african american experiences where oneâs identity is made up of two warring souls, the gender and the body. Both these souls can either be the same (similar to cis) or they can be different (similar to trans), where the souls can also be different genders outside of the western binary/binary sexes - including intersex and intergender folk.
Soul is the creation of black roles that do not conform to the binary and do not establish a patriarchy or matriarchy, centering joy and happiness rather than being used to oppress others. When referring to someone who is "of Soul" and mentioning the identity, Soul as an identity will always be capitalized. Someone can also be Soul, and does not have to adhere to the convention of saying "blank of Soul". Other terms like Soul sib, Soul sista, Soul brotha, or Soul boi/qirl are used too.

Hazbin Hotel: Episode 1 p1

"Once upon a time, there was a glowing city protected by golden gates known as Heaven. It was ruled by beings of pure light. Angels that worshiped good and shielded all from evil. Lucifer was one of these angels. He was a dreamer with fantastical ideas for all of creation. But he was seen as a troublemaker by the elders of Heaven.Â
For they felt his way of thinking was dangerous to the order of their world. So he watched as the angels began to expand the universe in their ways. From the dust of Earth, they created Adam and Lilith. Equals as the first of mankind, but despite this, Adam demanded control and Lilith refused.Â
Drawn in by her fierce independence, Lucifer found her and the two rebellious dreamers fell deeply in love. Together, they wished to share the magic of free will with humanity, offering the fruit of knowledge to Adamâs new bride, Eve, who gladly accepted.
But this gift came with a curse.
For with this single gift, evil finally found its way to Earth. With it, a new realm of darkness and sin, and the order Heaven worked hard to maintain was shattered. As punishment for their reckless act, Heaven cast Lucifer and his love into the dark pit he created, never allowing him to see the good that came from Humanity, only the cruel and the wicked.Â
Ashamed, Lucifer lost his will to dream.Â
But Lilith thrived, empowering a demon-kind with her voice and her songs. And as the numbers of Hell grew, so did its power. Threatened by this, Heaven made a truly heartless decision, that every year, they would send down an army: an extermination to ensure Hell and its sinners could never rise against them.Â
But Lilthâs hope remained. And her dream was passed down to their precious children, the Prince and Princess of Hell.â
A pale hand closed the story book, as a young woman held a key close to her, looking downcast. âDonât worry Mom, Iâll make you proud.â She whispered, gazing out the window, listening to the screams outside.Â
âCharlie?â a voice called startling the young woman. âAugh!â she yelped, as her key turned into a cat, who ran away to hide. Charlie winced before turning to the other woman, âVaggie! Did you hear all that?â she asked.Â
âUh, yeah. I was standing right there.â smiled the woman, pointing at the door. âSorry, I get pretty worked up after an extermination happens. The story helps.â Charlie frowned, staring at the book. âI know, donât worry. I enjoy your theatrics. Are you okay?â Vaggie asked, sitting next to the blonde demoness. âIâm fine, justâya know thinking about family stuff.â âDId you hear your from your mom yet?â Charlie shook her head sadly.Â
âOof, how long has it been now?âÂ
âNot that longâŠonlyâŠ..sevenâŠ.years. Off doing something important, Iâm sure.â Together the women stood up, to look outside the window. âBut this kingdom was something she really cared about; something I care about.â Charlie hugged herself, smiling wistfully.Â
âWell, at least youâre not alone.â Vaggie soothed, holding Charlieâs hands.âI just hope that what Iâm trying to do here will work.â Charlie admitted. âIt will. I have faith in you.â the white haired woman smiled, cupping Charlieâs cheek.Â
âAll right, come on. Alastor says heâs got something he wants to show us.â Vaggie walked out of the room, Charlie going to follow her, before hearing the church bell ring outside. She turned to look out at the clock as it rang, signaling the end of the extermination. Charlie sighed before heading downstairs.Â
*Downstairs*
âWell, hello there, you wayward sinner!â A cheery voice, on the television, called out to a demon currently stabbing another on the street, making the two look around confusedly. âDo you like blood, violence and depravity of a sexual nature? Of course you do, thatâs why youâre in Hell! But what would you say if there was a place that had none of that?â questioned the voice as more sinners popped up, varying emotions from annoyance to confusion. The camera then zoomed to reveal the hotel.
âWelcome to the Hazbin Hotel! A misguided path to redemption!â the camera then pushed into Charlieâs personal space as she was mid conversation, before she noticed the camera and she smiled and waved nervously. A spider demon appeared behind her, using all four of his hands to give the demoness bunny ears behind her head and on the side. âFounded 5 days ago by Luciferâs delusional daughter, Charlotte Morningstar! Come place your faith in her inexperienced hands as she tries to work through her daddy issues by fixing you!âÂ
The television showed a picture of Lucifer facing away from Charile as she hugged herself, tears in her eyes. Then it showed Charlie attempting to convince sinners to join.Â
âHere we offer fun things! Such as somewhat functional staff.â The camera showed a grumpy cat demon who was clearly drunk as he face planted into the bar. A little cyclops woman scurried around him, chasing a bug with a giant needle in her arm, with a maniacal grin on her face, as she attempted to stab the bug.
â24 hour pest control! Custom rooms, and just look at this tacky parlor!â The camera panned out to show a piece of wood falling near the spider demon from earlier who was lounging on a couch, clearly bored as he examined his finger nails. Â âEnjoy riveting conversation with our singular resident.â
The spider sent the camera a middle finger, making an effect of the word Wow appear on screen, changing to show a crudely drawing of the hotel with different notes and smiley faces with a large toothy grin. âWow! All this and more at the Hazbin Hotel. Your last desperate attempt at salvation starts here!â On the screen, appeared: âCall now or donât! I donât care! We still donât have a working phone!âÂ
The TV shut off as the audience in the room sat around, emotions varying from anger, shock, and disbelief. âSo, whatâd ya think?âasked a grinning deer demon, dressed head to toe in red and black.Â
âIâm sorry, what the FUCK was that?â scowled Vaggie, arms crossed. âUh, yeah, one note. AlastorâŠâ Charlie started, ignoring how the demonâs smile tightened. âI mean, first off, thank you so much for making this, seriously, amazing, but um..â Charlie played with her fingers as she tried to explain her thoughts, âThe tone was maybe a bit..off?â Alastor tilted his head as she continued.Â
âWe want people to WANT to come here. This makes it lookâum..â âBad. The word youâre looking for is bad.â Vaggie snarled, crossing her arms.Â
âFunny, I was going for hilarious!â Alastor laughed. âIt didnât explain anything about how weâre trying to save demons, which is the whole fucking point!âÂ
âVaggie is right, Alastor. The commercial was to let sinners know we are trying to save them.â called a smooth voice from another armchair. The male was sitting on the chair, his legs over the arm of the chair, and the cat from earlier purring in his arms, as he stroked her back. This was the Prince of Hell, Heir to the Throne, and Charlieâs big brother, (Y/N).
âWell, my dear (Y/N), I havenât been active in Hell for some time, and everyone remembers me from my radio show. The proper way to express oneself!â Alastor turned to the TV with a clear disdain written over his ever grinning face.
âBut you insisted on this noisy picture box advertisement. So I had a little fun with it.â âOh fun, you had a little fun?â Vaggie snapped, before standing. âWell, this is not what we want to represent us. When you showed up here, a week ago, you told us you would help run this hotel. Instead, youâre mocking us. Nobodyâs going to want to come to a place that a powerful Overlord like you thinks is a waste of time.â Vaggie hissed before the 4 noticed a red hand waving in the air.Â
âWhat?â snapped Vaggie as (Y/N) started to walk towards the bar.Â
âIfân youâre filiminâ a commercial, can I suggest you take advantage of the talented celebrity you have right here?â The spider demon from earlier, sat up lazily, grabbing the bottle of alcohol with him, and winked at the people, gesturing to himself.Â
âAngel, youâre a porn star.â Vaggie deadpanned.
âA famous porn star.â Corrected Angel, as (Y/N) came back and sat next to the spider, with a strawberry Daiquiri in his hand.Â
âIâll have the horniest sinners knockinâ down these walls to get in.â The white furred spider grinned smugly, before swinging his legs over (Y/N)âs lap, clearly comfortable. âWe are not shooting a porn as a commerical.â Vaggie said firmly.Â
âWhy not? Sex sells, donât it?â Angel winked. âI swear, if you film me going at it with Sexy Princey or Mr FancyTalk Creep Voice here, youâd be rollinâ in participants to stay at this tacky hotel.â. Alastor laughed loudly before deadpanning. âHaha! Never going to happen.â
The bespectacled prince cleared his throat nervously, cheeks a slight red as he tried to compose himself. âA-Angel, we appreciate you wanting to use your âspecial skillsâ to, um, attract folks to the hotel. But IâWE, meant to say WE donât want to exploit you in that way.âÂ
(Y/N) smiled at the spider demon who grinned, leaning into the princeâs space, close to his ear, and purred, âBut what if I want you to exploit meâŠâŠ..Daddy?â âHAHA! OKAY!â
(Y/N) yelped, before using his wings to quickly fly up and over by the bar, startling Angel who then smirked knowingly at the demon.Â
Turning towards the girls, Angel continued to talk, âThis body was made to be exploited, baby. Iâve got the arms, I got the stamina, I got the legs, I got the lung capacity. Oh, oh! I have the legs, the gag reflex, the holes, the chest fluff everyone thinks are tits..â Charlie laughed uncomfortably as Angel continued talking.
(Y/N)âs phone started ringing, making the prince roll his eyes and walk away, answering his phone. âIâll be right back.âÂ
He turned the corner, and grinned deviously as he answered the phone, âWhat up, bitch!â
*Back with the others*
âHey, I have a question. If freaky face over there is so powerful, then why canât he just make people stay here?â Angel asked suddenly, pointing at Alastor.
âOh trust me, I can.â Alastor grinned darkly, briefly showing his horns.
âWhy do you think Iâm here?â A gruff voice called from the bar, making everyone turn to the bar, towards the grumpy cat from earlier.Â
âYou think Iâd be cleaning bottles and listen to you fucksâ bitch and moan, if he wasnât forcing me.â The bartender hissed as the little cyclops appeared next to him, grinning.Â
âI like being forced.â She giggled.Â
âKeep that to yourself, Niff.â grimaced the cat demon.Â
âWhat, you donât love being here with me, Whiskers?â Angel mocked, making a kissy face.Â
âCall me whiskers again, and Iâll jam that bottle down your throat.â the cat threatened.
âKinky! Câmon, keep talking dirty.â grinned Angel, narrowing his eyes at the cat.
âAngel, let Husk do his job. And no, we canât force people to stay here; they need to choose to.â Vaggie stated.Â
âIâm choosing to be here, and I think itâs all stupid. Weâre in Hell, toots.â Angel shrugged, âThatâs kind of the end of the line, ainât it?â
âWell, maybe it doesnât have to be.â Charlie smiled. âJust because no oneâs ever made it out, doesnât mean itâs not possible.â
Angel placed a hand on Charlieâs shoulder as he leaned down to her height. âHey, whatever means I can keep crashing here rent free.â The women shot him a deadpanned look, and he scowled. âCrack is expensive.â
(Y/N) quickly came and grabbed Charlie by the arm, grinning excitedly. âChar, come with me!â Charlie yelped as her brother pulled her around the corner.Â
âWoah, (Y/N), whatâs going on?â
âSo the leader of the Angel Army wants to meetâŠand I managed to convince Dad to let me send you to talk to them instead.â
Charlie tilted her head. âWhy me? You usually take care of stuff like that.â
âBecause, Char, you are the princess of Hell,and I think youâre old enough to start partaking in stuff like this. And.. you can use this as an opportunity to try to convince Heaven to give your Hotel a chance. â (Y/N) prompted.Â
âOoh! Thank you, thank you, thank you!â Charlie hugged her brother before rushing to tell Vaggie. (Y/N) going to lean on the couch, as Vaggie questioned Charlie. âBut the extermination just happened. What could they want this soon after?âÂ
Charlie started singing and twirled Vaggie who replied dizzily, âOkay but just donât sing to them.â
âThat bitch is half way down the street.â (Y/N) and Angel laughed, with the others looking out the door, watching the princess sing.Â
âIs sheâ?â Vaggie asked, worriedly.
âOh, sheâs dancinâ.â Angel tossed his head back, drinking the bottle in his hands, ignoring Vaggieâs groan.

Feels like that's only reason they confirmed Adrien's a sentimonster, to explain why he can't just break away from his father's control. It's so freaking cheap!

It's like how they only let Adrien "know" about Chat Blanc so that he'd sit out the final fight. Adrien doesn't get knowledge or complex backstory elements to make him more interesting or as a way for the writers to discuss topics like abuse. Adrien only gets these complications so he has more chains keeping him from doing anything. The writers are terrified to let him have an active role in the story because that would mean letting the story progress since so many plot points hinge on him learning things, but him being kept in the dark just makes him feel kind of useless to the point where one has to question why he's still Chat Noir. Just let him quit already. He doesn't even have his crush on Ladybug to motivate him anymore.
To be super duper extra clear: I am not blaming Adrien for any of this. I am saying this was bad writing that is a massive disservice to his character. He should be allowed to become strong enough to stand up to his father not because victims are required to do that but because he is a fictional character in a show aimed at children and I want children who relate to Adrien to feel empowered and inspired! The issue is not Adrien being unrealistic. The issue is that this isn't a show about exploring the realistic effects of abuse. Him being passive is not meant to be an interesting character beat. It's only done to maintain the tension that comes from him being kept in the dark.
