Linux apps have some of the strangest names, I swear. Like, you'll be scrolling your package manager and see an app called "Pussy Torture Chamber" with an icon of a cartoon vagina in chains, and then you find out it's the most beautiful, open-source, free to use, indie-developed, professional-grade, quality of life word processor that's ever existed.

While researching other closeted actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood, one name kept coming up - Guy Madison. But there were never any substantiating facts or convincing rumors.
At the most, it was guilt by association - his first agent in Hollywood was the notorious Henry Willson. Willson had a reputation for representing gay actors or requiring special favors from straight actors. Willson’s most famous clients were Rock Hudson and Tab Hunter, who both were revealed to be gay later in life. There were rumors that Madison was sexually involved with Rory Calhoun (another Willson client).

Recently, I came across three different YouTube videos which “out” Gay Madison, one even naming names. I’m still not 100% convinced that the question is settled - Was Guy Madison gay or bisexual? But with others claiming Madison was gay, I thought I’d share his story and let you decide.
Guy Madison was born Robert Ozell Moseley in rural California. In 1944, when Madison was on leave from the Navy, he visited Hollywood, where he caught the eye of talent agent Henry Willson. It was Willson who renamed Robert Moseley as Guy Madison.

His first film role was a bit part in “Since You Went Away” (1944). His good looks caught the eye of moviegoers who demanded to see more of the 22-year-old sailor. Madison’s acting career began in earnest with a starring role in “Till the End of Time” (1946).
Madison’s appeared in over 60 movies and television shows through the 1970s. He starred as the title character in “The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok” (1951–58). Its producers edited multiple episodes into films shown in theaters as well.
When his career in Hollywood began to fade, Madison moved to Europe, where he starred in a variety of movies, mostly shot in Germany, Italy, and Spain.

So, was Guy Madison bisexual or a closeted homosexual? He was married and divorced twice and was the father of 4 children. But celebrity biographer Darwin Porter wrote in his 2005 book “Howard Hughes: Hell’s Angel” that Guy Madison was one of the many male and female actors that the bisexual tycoon wined, dined, and fucked. And Hollywood biographer Lawrence J. Quirk claimed a known gossip columnist for The Hollywood Reporter in the 1950s bedded Madison in exchange for good reviews.

One of the YouTube posts says that Madison had been lovers with such actors as Ramon Navarro, Tyrone Power, Rock Hudson, and Anthony Perkins (who had also been a lover of Tab Hunter). The video mentions a memoir which Madison was purported to have written before his death due to emphysema in 1996.
But I can’t find any record of Guy Madison’s memoir being published or available online. And the video talks about how inspirational Madison’s career influenced future actors. When I look at Madison’s theatrical resume, it’s mostly westerns and low-budget European films. And he never won any major acting awards. So the video narration sounds like hyperbole. Is the rest of it also exaggeration?
All three of the YouTube videos I found are from different sources, yet they have nearly identical styles and talk about Madison in reverential tones. In our era of AI fakes, I’m suspicious of their authenticity.
Here’s one of those YouTube posts, if you’re interested:

Cartooning lesson. Artstyle
Short little piece of advice. Having a consistent artstyle is NOT about having a list of ways to draw each feature. It’s about applying the same design principles to each character.
The best example I can think of with this is Billy and Mandy
Mandy has eye whites. No nose. Solid teeth block. Front facing mouth.
Billy has dot eyes. GIANT nose. Segmented teeth. Side mouth.
How do they look like they belong in the same show?
Despite being drawn differently, they have the same level of exaggeration. Billy a little more because he is the silly one, but Mandy matches Billy’s goofiness with small details like her impossible hair.
They don’t look the same, but they’re the same LEVEL of cartoony.
(Obviously colour and linework also help in making an artstyle consistent, but we’re ignoring that rn)
If you are conscious of “same face syndrome” try to avoid planning how to draw features and just play around with shapes and proportions. The more you’re willing to draw weird/ugly looking characters, the more vitiate your characters will end up with. (Let the planning stage be imperfect)
And to quickly touch on same face syndrome because I know there’s an argument around it… Yes, it IS a thing and allot of shows have it. No, it’s not a bad thing and there are times where it’s even appropriate for the show. (Most Anime is a big example of that)
“Actually they have different shaped eyes” they could have different shaped HEADS. That’s same face syndrome…

It's honestly pretty surreal to be living in a time where Marvel is actually COOKING with video games again.

They've just spent so long low-key kinda fumbling with video games.
With many of their games over the last near decade being flops of varying degrees.

One major thing that has really helped the recent games I just showed off at the beginning is their art-direction.
Art-direction really goes a long way at selling you on a project.
Let's be real, if something looks like crap, most people aren't really gonna buy it.
Marvel Rivals, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls all have art-style and character designs that are colorful, vibrant, brimming with life and personality, and most importantly, actually make the characters look like as if they just leapt from the comics pages.
A major complaint towards the previous Marvel games (minus Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order) was that they had pretty lackluster art-direction.
In fact, that's been a complaint towards most superhero video games for about a decade now.
Most of them have usually gone for a realistic art-direction.
However, a lot of people (myself include) have not been a fan of this.
Not only because its become overdone (in fact, that's been argument towards the video game industry for a long time now), but also it often makes the character look generic and their outfits overly designed and/or just boring.
That's not to say you can't have a realistic art-direction and make your characters look unique and stand.
It's been done plenty of times before.
But most of these superhero games have often make their characters look like any person you would see on the street and not like.....the actual characters!
And not helping are their outfits, which, as I mentioned before, often look FAR duller and boring when compared to their comic book counterparts.
In fact, sometimes they look like straight up cosplay!
Even the Insomanic Spider-Man games, as great as they are, suffer from this problem as well, especially with the villains.
But the recent Marvel game trio completely break free from that trend.
Their art-direction is stylized and exaggerated.
Once again, making these characters look like they came straight from the comics!
Shortly after the release of Rivals, people have been comparing how The Avengers look in that game compared to how they look in Square Enix's Avengers.
And yeah, it's straight-up Hydrogen Bomb vs. Coughing Baby.

Look at the Rivals Avenger!
They look so colorful, vibrant and full of personality!
They look like they were pulled from the actual comic!
The Avengers.....Avengers on the other hand look so drab and boring!
Most people have already said and I'm gonna say it too: they look like the stunt doubles/legally distinct versions of the actors of The Marvel Cinematic Universe, which this game was clearly trying to emulate the look of.
But even then, The MCU Avengers had FAR more sauce than these dweebs!

I love using a desktop computer, but I hate sitting at my desk. Like, I wanna use my powerful, big-screen computer, but I also wanna sit on my comfy couch with a nice plush blanket. Life is nothing but endless suffering. 😔
