this line sprang to my head fully formed parallel with Bee being a least weasel. I’m glad it makes you even half as happy as it makes me.

At the time of thinking of it, I was sure that this was an obvious reference to the Tolkien media estate - “don’t call me a halfling, I’m not half of anything!”

… and then in one of those cold dark chills of the night I realised that nope, pretty sure that’s not canon, it’s from the Bagginshield fandom, and the Bagginshield fandom alone. A happy little subfandom of LotR that manages to blissfully ignore how bad the Peter Jackson films are, and how queer the source writings aren’t, in favor of a rich independent fanon involving lots of highly detailed flower language. I don’t know who originated it or where, but I’m pretty sure that’s the home ecosystem.

In which case Bee’s line, by being either a second cousin once removed or a first cousin twice removed from any relevance to source material, is once again original fiction!

Idk I feel like if An got a pet. It would be a pigeon. I don’t have any reason to believe this it just feels right.

I feel like she got it from a cafe regular. Sort of a “friend of a friend of a friend” situation where someone was trying to find a pigeon a home and they asked if she’d be interested.

Anyways there’s so much potential guys. She’d be so obsessed with it almost immediately. She’d name it something stupid and show up to practice the next day and talk ALL about it and Kohane would be soooo excited. Toya would fondly watch. Akito is convinced that it isn’t even real and that An is making it all up until he meets it and he’s too overcome by shock to pretend to be annoyed about it.

And then just. THE SCENARIOS.oh my god.

Sorry if you've already answered this BUT- what markers do you use? Both alcohol and acrylic :0

i use ohuhu (honolulu series) alcohol markers and miracle works acrylic markers!! since you've seen my alcohol marker rendering since last year, i'd like to show samples of the MW acry markers!

i know there are better artist -> professional-grade acrylic markers on the market, but i'm just looking for a cheap alternative to my ohuhus since i also need those for uni.. and these markers have served me well so far! my recent color pieces have been done using these markers

went antiquing over the weekend and found a really neat and perfect for signoise like little folder full of what was obviously high school english assignments and poetry and ads for the school plays and the guy tried to sell it to me for 50 dollars five zero fifty. FIFTY for random loose leaf paper with school work on it from like the 1970s i’m actually so mad about it. i wanted that poetry.

is ROP lacking in the female character department or have i just been way too spoiled by the plethora of them in WOT? lmao

like, galadriel's excellent, 10/10 no notes. but it feels like the others are always playing second fiddle in a storyline the source material designed to be about men (disa, miriel), or are bopping around on a charming sidequest that, while important as a breath of lightness amidst the heavy stuff, is nowhere near as compelling as the ring-related storylines (nori, poppy). (or had to get written out due to the actress leaving; such a shame because i imagine bronwyn would've been a big player in the southlands storyline this season.)

and i think it mostly comes down to source material. i have a vivid childhood memory of reading the hobbit and then the fellowship of the ring and then quitting because i got bored and cranky about there not being any girls except for arwen in like 2 chapters, so i would not be surprised if much of ROP's source material is similar, where the vast majority of the important players are men. and the show is doing what it can to add in more ladies, but it's just tough to make them feel like they're on an equal level of narrative importance as the men for whom the story was originally designed.

and that makes me so incredibly thankful for WOT and the huge amount of story-driving women RJ baked into the story. i give him flak for some things, but in this regard he was truly ahead of his time! and ahead of OUR time, even today it's rare to see a (mainstream) story with such a wide array of female characters. and that's made the show's job easy; it doesn't have to fight the source material to make women important in the narrative, because they already are. i saw a text post the other day about "tasting the good bologna" and how you can never be satisfied with a mid-quality thing again after you've had the most luxurious version, and boy have i tasted the good bologna with WOT and female characters.
