The fact that when I came back from the cinema wanting to see some cool art and people talking about interesting stuff after something so flipin awesome and the first thing i see was the dream team being so fucking rude during a CHARITY EVENT for their DEAD FRIEND is honestly so disheartening.

My grandfather was so lucky to get cancer twice and survive both times, I knew someone who lost her dad to cancer. I know someone who survived childhood cancer. One of my great grandparents died of cancer, my family on both sides is extremely family oriented if he never died I would have met him. The fucking disrespect that they showed should not be laughed at, it shouldn’t be encouraged.

The fact they were playing airhorns during Technodad’s speech, one that should have been respected and really quiet durning and no one interrupting is the fucking worse. I don’t care if dteam fans say that it’s funny and Techno would have laughed because it’s not the fucking point!!!

The whole festival was a charity event in honour of their friend, and for Technodad his fucking son. No one should have gone though this. I don’t care if this comes across as rude or overreacting because the dteam need to grow the fuck up and learn that their actions have fucking consequences for once.

This isn’t supporting a brand that’s actually a scam, this isn’t saying something offensive by accident. This is being rude and disrespectful.

And it even hurts that none of their fans are going to care a single bit because I don’t fucking know maybe they’ll say “but it was a joke” or “dream has ADHD your being ableist” because none of that shit matters when you realise that neither of those things matter when it’s about respect.

These are the same fans who will defend these mother fuckers to the grave but when someone like Niki Niahchu accidentally uses avae because she doesn’t know about American history or what avae is because she lives in Germany(or any non American country because the world doesn’t revolve around you fuckers) and is called overreactive during mcc and having a lot of stress put onto her and BREAKS DOWN ON STREAM it’s ok because they think it is.

I want dteam fans to see this post and be uncomfortable, I don’t care if I’m being mean to your pretty white boys because they have been allowed to do anything with a platform that is way to big for them for too long. this could legitimately be about any cause that liberals "support," but in particular, i made this in response to the reaction from some of the local city-based subreddits that i've been reading recently.

self-proclaimed "pretty progressive people" are complaining of "empathy fatigue" (LOL) because they have to "deal with" unhoused people and people addicted to drugs on a regular basis.

as usual, pulling back the curtains on the real state of the world has always been too grotesque for these NIMBY-types to stomach. so they'll turn their backs on their so called "principles" because they have a high population of unhoused people in their area and it's starting to personally affect their comfort.

we're not asking questions like: why are we still allowing anyone in any major metropolitan city to sleep on the ground, outdoors or wander the streets aimlessly, high out of their minds and potentially a danger to themselves and others?

we continuously fail the most vulnerable people in our society and insist that we are already doing "so much" to help them, meanwhile, 15.1 million homes sit vacant in this country (10.5% of the real estate market), all while foreign investors continue to buy them up like the housing market is going out of business (spoiler).

your support for marginalized people should not be based upon some fictitious level-based system of discomfort that you experience upon interacting with them.

no matter what "resources" have already been provided, clearly it's not enough, because there are still people sleeping on city streets in the richest country on earth.

this is what a lot of people on the far-left have been saying: there needs to be a radical shift in the way that we view not just the problems that we have, but the solutions. we create artificial barriers and then blame them for getting in the way.

we have to be able to do better than throwing pittance money at big problems that inevitably we know won't be nearly enough, but will later be pointed to as a massive investment. we know this is not true and we allow them to lie to us anyway. look at the dollars going to ukraine and israel and then tell me that it is proportionate to the money we spend on addressing the housing crisis or the health care crisis or any other crisis that we have in our own backyard.

this ended up longer than i intended. between the rampant racism toward Arab folks and the about-face so many liberals have performed on taking care of our societies most vulnerable, i'm so disappointed with where we are now. it's embarassing.

How did you get into keeping peafowl? They're one of those animals that I'd love to keep but have unfortunately made peace with the fact I probably won't have time and space to care for them in the future.

I loved them, and I was an asshole about it.

I lived with my mom in the suburbs, and purchased hatching eggs from eBay (don't do that), and a styrofoam incubator (don't do that), and hatched them in my closet (definitely don't do that) and brooded them in my bedroom (don't do that). A friend of my mom had recently got a farm, and agreed to keep them in a pen at her place until I bought a house, at which point I went out, got a stable full time job, started putting away money for a down payment, and seeing a real estate agent to look at hobby farms. About a year later, I found one that fit my criteria (house I didn't have to repair too much stuff in, acreage, barn), got a mortgage, and started building pens with my family.

This is, I feel I should not have to say, NOT the way to go about getting into peafowl. But I did turn my life around for them, so I can't complain about the end result.

That being said... I wouldn't give up entirely if I were you, if they are what you want in life, but I would just bear in mind that the road to them may be harder than you want to endure depending on your starting point. If you can acquire a dwelling space where they're allowed (it doesn't need to be "livestock" area, since some places consider poultry to be different than livestock, and peafowl fall under poultry), and you're willing to build them a pen, their care isn't particularly intense or anything. The space to keep them is the major hurdle.

I think people overestimate how feminist team black is. If someone brings up how Baela should be the heir to Driftmark, it's always "she would've been Queen if not for the Greens!", ignoring that 1, she would be Queen consort, not a Queen in her own right, and 2 she has a legitimate claim in her own right to Driftmark. Team Black's goal is to crown Rhaenyra, but Rhaenyra becoming Queen isn't a win for feminism because it does nothing to dismantle the rest of the patriarchal system that exists in Westeros. From what we've gotten so far, it reads that Rhaenyra wants to be the exception and not the rule. Rhaenyra has made a lot of bad political decisions, which means she can't acknowledge Baela's claim because it would weaken her own claim (blatantly admitting her eldest sons are illegitimate would not end well for her to say the least). So she betrothes Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena to kind of atone for that, like as a consolation prize Baela will be Queen and Rhaena will be lady of Driftmark, neither of them would hold either title in their own right. It's good matches because the kids like each other and will treat each other well, but it's not a feminist win or a feministic liberation. It's usurpation, usurpation that takes place because Rhaenyra has to do damage control after having illegitimate children and after a serious of bad political decisions (both hers and her fathers, Viserys is the arbiter of this entire mess). To me, Rhaenyra is very reminiscent of Mary Queen of Scots, I can see a lot of elements drawn from Mary's history in Rhaenyra's story and character, down to their sons eventually taking the crown they failed to claim/keep.

hi if we're doing juneteenth posts im a black/indigenous nb person that's finally at a point where i (and my family) can move away from a racist landlord that has allowed our home to go into foreclosure twice, and bumped our rent up by $500 when we were unable to leave last year.

my sister and i are struggling to juggle moving costs alongside groceries, gas, bills and car repairs from a hit and run that happened two weeks ago. our lease ends sept. 1st and the contract will penalize us financially if we ask for any extensions. anything at all helps including boosts/reblogs! tysm and happy juneteenth!
