Half-Lore #3: 66 HL Facts!

Make your 'counting to three' jokes in the tags please. Back with another instalment, this is one I've been looking forward to! 66 random facts spanning the entire Half-Life franchise (bc I couldn't fit 100 in one post due to numbered list character limits...) If you have any suggestions for other instalments of Half-Lore, please let me know.

Gordon can speak, as confirmed in a series of letters that were included in HL1's box. They mention that L.M and him had a telephone call prior to Gordon's arrival.

Speaking of L.M, he was the original administrator for Black Mesa. L.M was the G-Man, though his full name is never revealed.

Barney and Breen were both meant to appear in Half-Life: Alyx, but were cut due to a hard reset on the game's development.

Gordon is apparently very clumsy. Eli jokes about it in a series of cut voicelines.

Prior to his appointment at Black Mesa, Gordon was stationed at the University of Innsbruck in Austria.

Russell's complaint about being told to apply a year later after his interview at Black Mesa is a real-life hiring process that Valve uses.

Marc Laidlaw mentioned that the baby photo in Gordon's locker is probably a nephew, making Gordon an uncle!

Bullsquids have a 'hungry' mode. If they find a dead headcrab, and they're in hungry mode, they'll eat it. Otherwise, they'll play a sniffing animation and walk away.

In HL2, you can bonk NPCs on the head during a cutscene to make them teleport. This is because the game thinks that the character is trapped by a physics prop, and will teleport them to the next segment in the cutscene to free them.

On Kleiner's clipboard during his first cutscene, what he's saying about the HEV suit is actually written on the paper word-for-word.

Barney has a girlfriend called Lauren, and a picture of her in his locker. The woman in question was a real-life girlfriend of one of the devs.

In one of the OP4 skyboxes, a dev has written the note "Hack hack hack all day long. Hack hack hack while I sing this song."

The mysterious artefact Alyx brings back to Black Mesa East is the head of a Cremator, which was a cut enemy.

HL2 was originally meant to take place in New York.

Headcrabs don't turn Gordon into a zombie because he apparently never lets them get close to his face.

Colette gets a kick out of violence.

Gordon was employee of the month when the Resonance Cascade happened.

A special rebel outpost along Route Kanal will start playing ambient windchimes if you hang around long enough.

Breen was meant to wear a pair of glasses, but Marc Laidlaw went against it, citing that they made Breen look 'vaguely homosexual'.

Russell was originally meant to be Laszlo, the finest mind of his generation. His computer's password is actually 'Laszlo' too!

There are props clipping through Russell's ceiling intentionally- objects will phase through each other during portal storms, the likes of which ravage City 17.

The Citadel wasn't built on Earth, per se- it was teleported in chunk by chunk like the world's biggest IKEA assembly.

G-Man cannot understand the Vort's language, and the Vorts use by-words when discussing him and the Advisors to avoid detection.

Combine Advisors cannot breathe Earth's atmosphere, hence the breathing apparatus they wear.

There was meant to be a fourth day of HL2's plot, but it was shortened to three. Players would have fought through a museum.

Eli lost his leg to a bullsquid when he was helping Kleiner into City 17.

Kleiner and Barney were meant to die in a bus crash in HL2's opening sequence. Marc Laidlaw wrote a short story discussing their deaths in rather graphic detail.

In Decay, there was a cut sequence where players witnessed Gordon getting killed if they didn't scare away the soldiers in time.

Despite 20 years having passed in reality, only around two weeks have passed for Gordon due to being in stasis.

For HLA, developers scanned in a $10,000 Nordstrom suit to use for G-Man's textures.

Level designer David Casali, who has worked on every single mainline HL game, was too tall for a lot of the levels in HLA's Vault sequence. This lead to a lot of upside-down sections being cut for accessibility.

G-Man was meant to be an unwilling prisoner in the Vault, as revealed in a storyboard in The Final Hours.

The Nihilanth is inspired by Gabe Newell's fears of fatherhood, as he'd just had his son at the time.

Nothing is native to Xen. Every alien animal present on Xen is running away from The Combine's invasion of their homeworlds.

During Opposing Force, players can find a gear and a valve inside of a cardboard box- a very clear nod to Gearbox and Valve!

Barney's model changes subtly from HL2 to Episode 1- he's shown more dishevelled, with his hair unkempt and a series of cuts on his cheeks.

G-Man's face is hidden in the Xenian crystal at Black Mesa East.

Alyx was found by the G-Man, sitting beside her dead mother and clutching her mother's wedding ring.

Child labour was meant to appear, with models and animations of the children working in Cremator factories made. This, understandably, were cut, and the lack of children explained away with the suppression field.

G-Man's crow friend is nicknamed 'Crowley'.

During the tactical map section of Surface Tension, you don't have to use the drone strike to destroy the doors leading to the next level- you can actually break it with a fully-charged Tau Cannon shot.

Typing 'haiku' in the game's console will generate a random haiku for you.

Imprisoning the G-Man in HLA was referred to as putting 'God in a Box' by developers.

HL2 on PC and HL2 on Xbox 360 sound wildly different! Due to advanced sound chips, developers were able to push the audio of HL2 to be more immersive and sound more realistic than on PC.

Grigori's shotgun is called Annabelle.

A model of Eli naked exists. This was meant to be used in the section we see him in the Combine pods.

An illustration of G-Man holding a gun to his head can be found on the back of a sign in HLA.

Similarly, in the Index HLA home environment, his eyes are used as part of an advertisement for 'vision enhancement'.

You can find a minifigure of the Scout in HLA.

The textures for some of HLA's cans actually use a recoloured metal effect from HL1's orange poster.

Grigori has cut crosses into the backs of his hands.

Inside G-Man's briefcase is pencils, ID, paper, and a gun.

The shadowy woman in HLA is called Hahn/The Contractor, and according to Erik Wolpaw, they 'have plans' for her.

A cut enemy called Mr. Friendly was meant to literally SA the player and knock Gordon's glasses off, blurring the screen. Apparently, the idea was to play on a gamer's subconscious (or conscious...) homophobia and make them freak out. This enemy was actually designed by a teenager, and was predictably scrapped.

Early advertisements for HL1 featured babies and children with lambdas replacing their eyes.

HL1 is intended to be an allegory for fighting your own inner hopelessness.

Valve's offices have a wall built to resemble the moving walls of the Citadel.

G-Man has had a total of 11 different models throughout HL's history.

Breaking the army crates in the Dreamcast port of HL1 will reveal copies of Sonic Adventure inside.

Gordon is from Seattle, Washington.

HL2 was delayed a lot during its development. At the time, many swore never to buy from Valve again due to their broken promises.

A metrocop's hideaway can be found in the level after the zoo in HLA. Due to the amount of conspiracy theory paraphanelia, the room is theorised to be Barney's.

The act of covering your mouth to stop the fumes of Xenian flora from affecting you in HLA was implemented after playtesters instictively covered their mouths when sprayed.

Malam-malam sembari nyicil berkas akreditasi klinik, tetiba pengen mencurahkan banyak hal dari lubuk hati.

Dan sekarang adalah momen menjelang Dania MPASI. Kira-kira begini isi percakapan kami.

"MPASI tuh.. berat ya. Aku pernah lihat di tiktok anaknya ngelepeh makanan sejak hari pertama." Paksu said.

"Iya, apalagi sampai umur 2 tahun. Ada aja cobaannya pasti." Aku menimpali.

"Aku lihat tuh ya.. ibu-ibu tuh fokusnya ke, apa masakanku kurang enak ya.. bukan fokus ke apakah cara masaknya udah bener, teksturnya sesuai." Paksu said lagi.

"Iya.. banyak overthinkingnya ibu-ibu tuh. Makanya aku banyak cari referensi, tentang feeding rules juga. Supaya lebih banyak tau jadi lebih..."

"Lebih strict?"

"Engga. Justru aku berharapnya lebih banyak tau tuh jadi lebih fleksibel. Kalo anaknya gamau A, oh solusinya boleh B. Gamau C, oke solusinya D. Selama ga menentang prinsip utama."

"Iya Yang, kita perlu banyak belajar. Pasti sedih kan, kamu yang masak. Kalo Dania sampai gamau pasti kamu juga kepikiran."

Kira-kira dari percakapan-percakapan kami bisa kebaca kan ya, siapa yang lebih overthinking? Wkwkwk.

Sejak kami serius untuk menikah, kami sering membicarakan hal-hal terkait kepribadian kami. Suami memang mengakui, dirinya sangat bisa overthinking dalam banyak hal. Juga selalu ingin perfeksionis dalam hal apa pun. Dulu, kupikir aku harus sangat menyesuaikan diri dengan semua ini. Di saat apa pun kubawa santai :") Tapi rupanya, perfeksionisme yang suami anut, tidak irritable menurutku. Justru sangat mempermudah segalanya.

Aku, si INFP bersuamikan INFJ. Sangaaat helpful dan fit me completely.

Kalau sebelum menikah, mungkin mendengarkan apa yang dibicarakan Paksu akan terdengar so sweeet. Tapi sekarang, mendengarnya tuh serasa ada embun menetes di hati.

Kadang bingung, kebaikan apa yang pernah kuperbuat sampai Allah karuniai suami sebaik ini? Meski aku dan dia teman SMA, aku nggak pernah menyangka dia se-pengertian itu.

Makasih yaa, sudah menjadi sekeping puzzle yang melengkapi cerita hidupku. Aku nggak tau ke depannya akan bagaimana. Tapi, semoga Allah selalu memberkahi keluarga kecil kita.

Russlands Wintermärchen

Wenn die Herrscher zu lange an der Macht bleiben und ihren Untertanen jede Kritik und jeden schrägen Blick mit Gewalt verbieten, bleibt dem Volk nur die Fantasie als stille Form des Protests. Das war bereits so zur Zeit der russischen Monarchie: solange der Zar sich ruhig verhielt und niemanden mit seinen Weltverschwörungstheorien auf die Pelle rückte, genoss er die Loyalität der Eliten und die Liebe des Volkes. Wenn er aber anfing, aus der Reihe zu tanzen, die Staatskasse wie seine eigene Tasche zu plündern und Kriege anzuzetteln, die nicht zu gewinnen waren, flüsterte das Volk: Das ist nicht unser Zar, der echte ist gestorben oder schlimmer noch, von den Verschwörern umgebracht worden und durch einen anderen ersetzt, dem er nicht einmal ähnlich sieht. Die Füße seien bei dem Neuen zu klein und der Bart sitze schief. Oft hielten sich diese Gerüchte so hartnäckig, dass sie die damit Gemeinten überlebten.

Ein ähnliches Missgeschick passiert nun Putin, der nächstes Jahr, sage und schreibe ein Vierteljahrhundert an der Macht feiern kann, für Russland allerdings keine Besonderheit. Er ist noch immer kürzer auf dem Thron als die meisten Zaren, aber deutlich länger als alle kommunistischen Führer nach Stalin. Zwei Legenden verbreiteten sich wie ein Lauffeuer seit dem Einmarsch der russischen Streitkräfte in die Ukraine: Der Präsident sei tot krank und er wird immer häufiger durch Doppelgänger ersetzt. Im Laufe  der Zeit hat sich eine richtige Doppelgänger-Industrie im Internet aufgebaut, die Doppelgänger-Experten erreichen mit ihren Analysen ein Millionenpublikum, anonyme Insider berichten aus geheimen Quellen über den Verlauf einer tödlichen Krankheit des Präsidenten. Am Anfang hat  Kreml darauf nicht reagiert. Nun musste sogar der Pressesprecher der präsidialen Administration drei Mal innerhalb eines Monats ausdrücklich betonen, dass es im Kreml nur einen Putin gibt, der sich bester Gesundheit erfreut und nicht daran denkt, sein Volk jemals zu verlassen. Diese wiederholten Aussagen haben jedoch eine umgekehrte Wirkung, sie beruhigen nicht. Je öfter der Pressesprecher die Anwesenheit der Doppelgänger verneint und die ausgezeichnete Fitness des Führers lobt, umso schneller verbreitet sich das Gerücht, dass mit dem Präsidenten etwas nicht stimmt.

Bloß wie lange darf man todkrank sein, sicher nicht eine Ewigkeit. Vor einigen Wochen war es so weit, gleich mehrere Telegrammkanäle verbreiteten die Nachricht, Putin habe sich nach einer misslungenen Operation auf seiner Residenz in Waldai endgültig verabschiedet, die Ärzte wurden im Haus isoliert, die Leiche bis auf weiteres eingefroren. Der führende russische Doppelgänger-Analytiker Professor Solovey postete auf seinem Kanal: „Es ist so weit, der Tyrann ist weg.“ Am nächsten Tag erschien Putin im Fernsehen, als wäre nichts gewesen. Er wirkte etwas aufgedreht, erkundigte sich bei seinem Landwirtschaftsminister, warum die Preise für Mastgeflügel trotz seiner Anweisung steigen. Der junge Landwirtschaftsminister, der zufälligerweise nebenberuflich Sohn des Chefs des Sicherheitsrates ist, hatte vor Aufregung Putins Vatersnamen verwechselt und sprach ihn statt Wladimirowitsch mit „Wassiljewitsch“ an. Der Vater des Landwirtschaftsministers gab ein Interview, in dem er über Putin stets in der Vergangenheitsform sprach. Nach einigem Zögern ging die öffentliche Meinung dahin zu sagen, der Zar scheint tatsächlich im Kühlschrank zu liegen, was ihn aber nicht am Weiterregieren hindert. In der Öffentlichkeit wird er vom Doppelgänger Wassiljewitsch ersetzt. Erstaunlicherweise hatte dies alles überhaupt keine Auswirkungen auf den politischen Kurs des Landes, Russlands Politik ist nicht umweltfreundlicher geworden. Die russische Opposition im Ausland reagierte perplex.

Seit vielen Jahren wurde in diesen Kreisen über den „Kampf zwischen Kühlschrank und Fernseher“ diskutiert, d.h. über den Kampf um die Seelen der Bevölkerung. Irgendwann würde der Kühlschrank über den Fernseher siegen, so hoffte man, d.h. die wirtschaftlichen Nöte sollten stärker als die Propaganda wirken und die Stimmung im Land verändern. Nun scheint der Kühlschrank tatsächlich den Fernseher besiegt zu haben, aber auf eine perverse Art, der eingefrorene Putin regiert ungeniert aus dem Kühlschrank weiter. Inzwischen ist sein Ableben von allen akzeptiert und nur eine Notiz am Rande, zumal der Doppelgänger Wassiljewitsch ihn sehr glaubwürdig darstellt. Der Glaube, von einem Eingefrorenen regiert zu werden, ist für viele trotzdem eine Erleichterung, eine Form des stillen Protests geworden. Wir können nichts tun, der Eingefrorene ist an allem schuld.

Eithet songs or genders for the top 5 thing. I couldnt choose which one to ask you

(In retrospect I don't know why I did the ask game, I'm so bad at picking favorites) If I HAVE to choose five songs, and specifically selecting them so each fits a different niche/genre/space in my brain: 5. Rainbow Connection, by Kermit the Frog. I'm a big fan of the Muppets in general, and this song specifically is partially why. It's sincere, it's deep, and it feels like I can't listen to it without being filled with a sense of wonder, at the world and all its contents. When I listen to this song, the Muppets make perfect sense, with all the frogs and bears and chickens and whatever. They're part of the rainbow connection.

4. Talk About Bones, by Seeming. My boyfriend got me into Seeming. The first time I listened to their album Sol with him was the first time we met in person. We lay in the dark, listening to the whole thing together without speaking, ending with this. The whole album could honestly be on this list, I can't think of one song without thinking about how it flows perfectly from the rest. I can't recommend this album highly enough. It's not music - it's an experience. Dim the lights, listen closely, and open yourself to being banished.

3. Hopes and Dreams, by Toby Fox. Look, anyone who's known me for a while would know there was going to be an Undertale song on this list. Hopes and Dreams is the climax of one of the best storytelling experiences of my life. It ties it all up in a neat little bow, motifs bringing back character moments long forgotten in what feels like both a deadly boss battle and a tear jerking farewell to a world you invested your thoughts and emotions into. Or in my case, less a 'farewell' and more an 'Au revoir', since I will inevitably get sucked back into the game or fandom at some point (over 100 hours of it played on Steam, and at least five Youtube playthroughs watched in full).

2. Natsuki vs. Raven, by Freshy Kanal. Look. I know. This is not what most people would think of when asked to list their favorite songs. But I have a theory, as an English Literature student, that rap battles are the epitome of literature and stories in general:

Stories are based on conflict, and a rap battle is conflict distilled. Two or more characters enter the story, fight for the audience's amusement, and then the story ends, leaving the audience to determine the victor.

All literature and storytelling function based on the context it's in; to maximize the effectiveness of a story you need to understand the allusions and references of the time and make proper use of them. Rap battles are full of references, to pop culture, history, character backgrounds, etc.

Storytelling is all about language. Rap battles make incredible use of language, with intricate wordplay and double or triple meanings.

Also this one just has really good lyrics and an absolute boppin' beat.

Honorable Mentions: - Songs from the Hatchetfield musicals. Extremely good music, very good plays. - Homestuck music. Fell under the same umbrella as the Undertale song, so didn't look for specific ones. - This one song I made up as a kid called Hot Green Bananas. It is terrible. I'm using it for the theme song of the show I dream of making someday. 1. I'm Me, by Vanessa Doofenshmirtz. I dare you to listen to this song and tell me it doesn't deserve the number 1 spot. Pure self-actualization, distilled into a series of metaphors. I still listen to this one if I need a pick-me-up in the confidence department.

Part of the allure of No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani – aside from her signature platinum locks and red lips, trendsetting fashion sense and smokin’ hot bod – has been her ability to share the rawest of emotions within her songwriting.

During No Doubt’s main stage-closing set at night one of the inaugural Kaaboo Del Mar, the last of only six performances the band had scheduled in 2015, Stefani let it all spill out on stage. She modified lyrics to familiar songs to seemingly mirror her current relationship status since news broke just over a month ago that after 13 years of marriage and three children, she and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale were divorcing.

Though some of that former undeniable chemistry among members on stage was noticeably absent, “the guys” as Stefani referred to them, bassist Tony Kanal, drummer Adrian Young, guitarist Tom Dumont and longtime touring members Gabrial McNair and Stephen Bradley, backed their girl while sounding as solid as ever.

No Doubt drew the largest crowd of the day, luring people closer to the massive stage with the dancey vibe of “Hella Good” and its upbeat cover of Talk Talk’s “It’s My Life.” By the third song, “Underneath it All,” off of 2001’s “Rock Steady,” Stefani was wearing her heart on her sleeve, changing up the lyric “And when it’s really bad / I guess it’s not that bad” to “It’s really (bleepin’) bad.”

She kept her composure, but continued to launch the verbal torpedoes. “Simple Kind of Life,” a song which she noted “… is one of my favorite songs I wrote in my whole life,” got the acoustic treatment and yet another lyric change up after she sang the line “If we met tomorrow for the very first time/ Would it start all over again? / Would I try to make you mine?” she quipped “I don’t think so.”

“Bathwater” is where it got a bit awkward as she went off, asking herself why “good girls like me” always fall for the bad boys that are “stinky … pathetic … narcissistic” all of which seemed like some pretty strong jabs aimed directly at her soon-to-be ex husband.

After “Excuse Me Mr.” and “Sunday Morning,” the first two offerings in the set off 1995’s “Tragic Kingdom,” an album pretty much completely about Stefani’s break-up with Kanal, she said that it was weird that most of those tracks had suddenly now taken on an entirely new meaning. Kanal is probably slightly relieved by that since the heartbreak and rage are no longer directed solely at him.

The band also offered up a few cuts it hadn’t included in its sets for years from its breakthrough album including “Happy Now?” and “End it on This,” which seemed fitting for this evening since this could very well be the last time No Doubt performs together in a very long while since Stefani is deep in the process of working on her third solo album.

Of course the band didn’t leave out “Don’t Speak,” which the audience passionately roared along to, and “Just a Girl” had Stefani climbing high up onto the scaffolding, flawlessly belting out every last note before doing a pretty epic mic drop.

At the start of the encore Kanal thanked No Doubt’s crew and the fans before dedicating a cover of the Skatalites “Guns of Navarone” to reggae-ska artist Rico Rodriguez, who passed away at the age of 80 on Sept. 4. No Doubt closed its set with the title track off its latest album, 2012’s “Push and Shove,” and brought the energy back up, officially ending the night with a fiery version of “Spiderwebs.”

What are the most important video games, books, movies, and/or tv shows that really shaped your taste today?

Oh man, the problem here is not just in remembering which ones that fit the bill but also reducing the numbers so this doesn't become a bloated mess of an answer.

Howevah, I will try.

Video games: I've played most genres growing up and it was a bit of console but gravitated towards PC pretty much by my mid teens. I really thing it was Civilization III that solidified by taste for strategy games after being exposed to Civ II in a bootleg CD game pack, but Red Alert really did a number on me as well - especially Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun. But I cannot lie, Fallout 2 and Fallout: Tactics were instrumental in developing my taste for RPG's and my borderline obsession with the post-apoc genres which I carry with me 25 years later.

I read much more when I was younger, but I only recently had a rediscovery of the earliest science fiction novels I read that without a doubt set the first brick on the road that I would go, and it was the Swedish YA Science Fiction series "Andromeda" published 1979-1986 (I even made a post about it earlier). I am sure it lead me to other classics like War of the Worlds which remain a favourite for me. That, and I think graphic novels might fit - and then Tintin, Spirou, Asterix & Obelix fit as formative. But also the more adult ones like Buddy Longway.

And movies.... man, apart from 1980's and 1990's Disney animated movies that I devoured, I have to say that monster movies of the same time remain close to my heart. Aliens, Predator remain favourites. Jurassic Park was fundamentally formative for a lot of kids of the time, but I also consider Tremors (one and two anyway) to be one of the most fun monster movies out there. In general though, I also think the bad movies that came out were also formative in developing my tastes. Everyone saw the Star Wars prequels - being any kind of sci fi fan meant that they were mandatory viewing - but they never *wowed* me. So, I knew I loved the originals more. Not fanatically so, that is more reserved to-

Jumping into TV-shows specifically, I can't understate how much Star Trek blew my goddamn mind. I have no idea where it started - I remember seeing mid-90's on Swedish Kanal 5 around noon on weekends re-runs of Star Trek TOS, later also DS9, I remember some of the earliest shows I pirated was TNG, AND also religiously watched Babylon 5 also on Kanal 5 when it was a new show, and I followed Voyager -and- Enterprise when they first ran on... SVT 1 or 2, 19:00.

And on that, I just remembered how much I followed ANYTHING Star Trek in the video game space as well. Starfleet Command, Bridge Commander, Klingon Academy, Elite Force, New Worlds, even games that were supposed to come out but never did (Like, Star Trek Borg or whatever the fuck).

But on the note of TV-shows and my youth, I would be remiss if I also did not give a shout-out to Babylon 5. I have a sweet spot for space operas, very much due to this show - and together with TNG it has made me a very, very picky fucker with my science fiction writing. It set a high bar for me. In general, I can remember movies, shows, books and games I grew up with or at least had exposure to, but it takes some introspection to realize which ones actually influenced by - and then by how large of a degree. I still remember the ending scene from the "Death of Computers" Swedish cyberpunk novel nearly 30 years ago when I was not even 10 years old reading it - but did it really shape my taste in fiction? Did reading the follow-up novel give me a love for language, when a space traveler killing a giant alien bird with a laser knife on its last powerpack - but to avoid culturally contaminating the strange human cave men - at the end he just picked up a rock and gesticulated smashing the bird on the head - later on having his partner deliver her baby and the caveman midwife saying "flekka" - and it was strangely similar to the Swedish word girl - "flicka"? And this gave rise to a theory that these people were transplanted by some alien force?

No idea, man. But what I do now is that every so often I see if Good Old Games have released Klingom Academy yet - 23 years after its initial release - and I know that the main composers were two people collaborating, one is the original composer for TNG and also worked on several Star Trek game projects, and the other is Inon Zur - who later worked on Bethesda's Fallout games?

If these games and showes are not influences, I sure do think a lot about them.

What A Beautiful Mourning

It was a damned sunny day.

Not that Chialnaoth hated sunny days, but it did not fit the mood of the hour at all. She sighed as she leaned into a post overlooking the cavea below, as Mulinee gathered in the seats and filled the amphitheater with low mutters and idle chit chat. Her eyes were automatically seeking out any potential disruptors to be dealt with, any of her people giving a signal, or just something that didn’t belong. Damn her luck that everything was going smoothly…she really didn’t want to be here, or to hear the news today.

Blue eyes met Green as she spotted Pris across the way, and Chialnaoth knew she didn’t want to be there either. Outward appearances at first glance, she was as proper as ever, neatly trimmed and not a thread out of place. But holding her gaze, she could see the bloodshot eyes and eyebags forming from even where she stood, her mouth set in a thin grim line. Yes, Chialnoath truly did not want either of them here today.

She spotted the Left of Fornis, Andel, as they approached Pris and gently placed a hand on her shoulder, before both disappeared further down to the arena. Chialnaoth returned her attention to the crowd below, noting approaching footsteps from behind.

“Everyone is accounted for and ready, ma’am. The traffic has slowed considerably. We’ll probably only have a few stragglers come in now,” Her new lieutenant stood ramrod straight as she turned, giving his report. Even he was anxious though, his tail sweeping the leaves behind him.

“At ease,” she sighed, turning back towards the arena. “Let’s get this over with.”

She signaled to Solnaoth below to proceed, stepping back into the more shadowed area, but still keeping the crowd in sight. Haidi joined her on the opposite wall, leaning back and crossing his arms. The crowd quieted as they watched the Heads of their two Clans enter, flanked by the Right and Left of Fornis and her own personal choice of guards. They kept a respectful distance, letting the attention fall solely on the Heads as they came to the center podium, Fo Forna’s hand resting gently upon Ki Kanol’s arm. Fo Forna stepped up to the podium first, bracing herself against it, and clearing her throat.

“I welcome you, my people, here today, and thank you for your presence,” she began, voice ringing clear above the horns of everyone. “Spring has finally begun, bringing with it the beginning of change.”She held her head as high as she could, her gaze carefully sweeping the crowd around her.

“At the beginning of winter, I asked for your vote regarding the future of the Fornis. Today, I announce the result and the changes that will follow.”

She carefully pulled a letter from inside her robes. sealed with the official crest of Fornis and held it in the air for all to see, before carefully setting it down, lightly coughing into the crook of her arm and revealing its contents to the held breaths of the crowd.

“We, the Mulinee of Sanctuary, have cast our vote. The Clan of Fornis will be merged with the Clan of Kiga.” She paused as the crowd began to mutter, a few giving outcries before being shushed by their neighbors. Fo Forna held her hand up for silence, the crowd quickly quieting down as Ki Kanol approached the podium.

“We understand this decision was not made lightly, and that some of you may think that this means the end of the Clan of Fornis. As Head of Kiga, I assure you, you are still recognized as Fornis. Your ancestors' sacrifice for your independence is not in vain.” Ki Kanal held himself tall, gesturing to the crowd before him.

“The Fornis will still be Recognized as it’s own Clan, your day to day lives will not be affected.” Fo Forna added. “Only the governmental proceedings are to be changed, which will be handled with utmost care by those I have chosen.” She gestured for her Right and Left to step forward. Both gave a salute to the crowd.

“As her Right and Left, we solemnly swear to you, the Mulinee of Sanctuary, that the rights and liberty of the Fornis are upheld, and every decision made is made with respect for our Clan,” Pris spoke.

“Our traditions and values will still carry the same weight forever forward as they did yesterday. Our Clan will continue to grow as the leaves do on the trees that provide our sanctuary,” Andel swept their hands in the air, gesturing to the surrounding forest.

Both resumed standing tall next to Fo Forna, who nodded approvingly before addressing the crowd once more.

“I will now discuss the changes that are to come, and we will then open the floor to questions.”

Chialnaoth began to zone out the talk, having heard it a thousand times before at the meetings that they had to go over said changes. Her eyes continued to search the Mulinee below, noting anyone that appeared disgruntled by the news.

“Forgive me for not knowing procedures and all,” Haidi spoke up, though his gaze also was distracted by the crowd, “but why are the other Heads of the Clans not here? I would assume this news would bef their attention as well.”

“This was more of a formality to the general public rather than the government,” Chialnaoth stated, turning her attention to Fo Forna.

“They will be receiving official letters and statements right about now, although to be honest, I don’t think they’ll see it as a surprise.” She stared at the Fo, noting how she clasped her hands in front of her. To the untrained eyes, she was statuesque, no part of her body giving away weakness. But Chialnaoth could see her slight lean on the podium, the clasping of her hands keeping them from shaking. She could even see the worried glances both Pris and Ki Kanol spared occasionally.

“The Fo’s health has been failing for a while, but it only just recently became worse.” She turned her attention to Haidi, his head tilted.

“Maybe Surna will have something to say about not being invited, but then again, they always seem to have something to say…no offense.” She shrugged at him.

“None taken. My former Clan tends to stick their nose in everyone’s business, especially if it affects their gold…which I already know won’t. Too much at least.”

“True. All this is going to do is to make a headache of paperwork for a few months before everything goes back to running smoothly, not that the average Mulinee is going to see that. Be prepared, by the way, half of that’ll end up with you,” she winked at him, which he dismissed with a casual wave of his hand.

“How are the Right and Left handling the news?” Haidi nodded in their direction, the floor now being open to questions and those in the arena doing their best to answer. Chialnaoth sighed, switching her gaze to them.

“Andel seems to be fine, they’re usually quick to calm the masses and have been doing this longer than I or Sol have. Pris on the other hand…” She let her gaze linger. She could see she was trying so hard not to be annoyed, hackels raising and deep breath exercises not helping as she answered the next round of questions.

“This is all one big ‘in-your-face’ confirmation that she's about to lose her mother. I can’t imagine how she feels.”

Chialnaoth tore her gaze away before motioning for Haidi to follow.

“I…can’t imagine either.” Haidi sheepishly rubbed a hand against his neck as they ducked and weaved around the amphitheater into a courtyard behind to await the others as they finished with the crowd. “Is it really so soon?”

“No, not within the next months or so. They did this now to avoid making a minor paper headache now into a bureaucracy migraine later,” she paused, listening as the crowd began to disperse. “But the treatments for her corruption aren’t working as well anymore. She says she can feel her time is running out.”

“Such is the sacrifice she paid to beat the Bloody Mother.” Haidi nodded solemnly. Chialnaoth merely hummed in agreement, standing at full attention as the Heads and their entourage exited to the courtyard. Fo Forna’s hands were resting in Ki Kanol’s arm, both relaxing their guard away from the eyes of the crowd and appearing weary of it. Fo Forna smiled at them, the sunlight dappling her spotted cheeks.

“Well, that certainly went better than expected!”

Chialnaoth snorted. “What did you expect? A revolution rival to when Fornis first declared independence?”

“Mm, more or less.” Fo Forna chuckled. Ki Kanol merely shook his head, the ornaments on his horns clinking together.

“I’m sure we’ll see something pop up with the next few months,” he grumbled. Fo Forna merely patted his arm.

“Nothing we can’t handle. They aren’t being forced into this. They can leave the Clan if they wish. Besides, there was a majority vote for this.” Ki Kanol shook his head again, pressing a kiss to Fo Forna’s temple.

“Well, I can certainly say this has been enough excitement for one day my dear. I believe we shall take our leave and return home, yes?” He chuckled, turning his gaze towards Chialnaoth. “I trust you have everything wrapped up here?”

“Just waiting on word from you, sir. Portal is ready and waiting.” Chialnaoth nodded, motioning for the guards to escort the Heads to their destination. Ki Kanol bowed his head, leading Fo Forna away, idling chatting about tomorrow’s activities, followed by Solnaoth. Andel bowed their head as well, moving to follow, leaving Pris, Chialnaoth, and Haidi the only ones’ standing in the courtyard. Chialnaoth looked at Pris and clasped her shoulder, who sighed and placed her hand over.

“I’m fine, I’ve known this was going to happen for a while…I just wish I was more prepared,” Pris answered the silent question, squeezing Chialnaoth’s hand in affirmation.

“No one ever truly is.”

They finally started moving towards where the other’s had gone, Chialnaoth and Pris side by side, Haidi bringing up the rear. They were quiet, each lost in their own thoughts, the blue sky above ever stretching, mindless of the mortal lives below. Before they reached the portal, Haidi piped up.

“You weren’t kidding about the paperwork, were you?”

Pris snorted while Chialnaoth barked a laugh, the sun bouncing with her shoulders

PMT serimi sonrasında ise yaklaşık 5 bin 750 ton binder asfalt tabakasının serimini gerçekleştirdi. Büyükşehir, Millet Bahçesi’nin önündeki bin 100 metrelik yolda da asfalt serimi öncesi kazı çalışması gerçekleştiriyor.

Büyükşehir’in çevre yollardaki çalışması asfalt serimi ile sınırlı kalmıyor. Buna göre ekipler, Çayırova Millet Bahçesi’ne giden yol güzergâhında şu ana kadar 8 bin 100 m2 mineral parke, 3 bin 600 metre bordür ve 370 metre betonarme U kanal imalatı gerçekleştirdi. Ayrıca bölgede olası sel ve su baskınlarının önüne geçmek için bin 100 metre uzunluğundaki derede ıslah çalışmaları aralıksız olarak sürüyor.
