The Art of Origami: A Journey Through History, Use, and Mastery
In this series, we have been looking at various types of art as art forms.  We have visited collage, multi-media art, Mexican Folk Art, ATC’s, Japanese Kintsugi, Street Art and Murals, pottery, Chinese Kites, and now Origami.  Wow! That’s a lot of art.  I hope you have been following and have enjoyed learning about these different types of art around the world. Origami, the traditional Japanese…

oh shit i’m aware! :0 happy October!
what sort of society wide structural accommodations would you like to see in place to help/make more accessible for little people?
Aaaaah this ask is so old now I'm so sorry!! (Things can get lost among all the hate messages lol) But gosh so many things!!
• The first is step stools EVERYWHERE!!! Public access to step stools would solve most of the problems little people face with access. I'm talking bathrooms, service desks, cash registers, libraries, clothing stores - the list goes on! They could fold away for easy access, or blend in as universal design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's even these amazing fold up ones I've seen that get automatically tucked away to prevent tripping hazards:
Tumblr media
The second is for grab bars such as these (see bellow) for easier toilet access to be more widespread. It's important that toilets remain the height parallel with the average wheelchair, but grab bars can make it much easier for shorter people to hoist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Public bathroom/change room stalls that go close to/all the way to the floor! As a little person, the average stall door ends at my waist (sometimes higher) so I am not guaranteed privacy. I much prefer stalls with minimal viewing access. And as a trans person, stalls that are more private create added safety.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would love for extended grabbing handles to be standard practice in vehicles!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These would make getting in and out of cars much easier for a little person, not to mention elderly folks, children, and other disabled people. Extra foldable steps in cars is also something I've seen and loved.
Adjustable foot hammocks on public desks and tables would be sooo goood! A big source of leg pain for me is that my legs are dangling in every chair I sit in, which cuts off circulation and semi-dislocates my loose joints. Some sort of ledge or hammock would solve this issue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sure there are many more but this is what comes to mind for now!

Hi Violet ! I and a friend had a discussion about how Rodimus and Soundwave might eventually share a berthroom or not in the future of TEG. We thought neither would want to move in the other's room due to their preferences in interior. Yet Rodimus seems to not mind and gotten used to being in Soundwave's so we thought maybe he would be the one to move. We also had in mind that they would have the wall separating their rooms removed so the interior would be bigger, perhaps renovate too where they have to decide on the interior design together. What are your thoughts on these ?x]
Hi anon!
this is a super cute question x3
ok ok here are my thoughts:
Rodimus would want to remove the wall, yes, whereas SW is like "? but there's just one doorway in between," as in, why bother when all we have to do to access each other is go through one door. but that's still a WHOLE DOOR Rodimus doesn't want to deal with, and also, hey maybe it's like, symbolic or something. so Rodimus wants to take down the wall
Ultra Magnus does a big NO to that, for many reasons, including structural reasons. Rodimus perhaps starts tearing down the wall anyway until he trips some kind of alarm and gets found out. UM is Not Happy. Rodimus is like :'D :'D
Eventually UM lets him take down however much of the wall is safest to do so, so now they have semi-connected rooms. and now, yes, they run into the trouble of wanting different things for interiors. Rodimus realizes he's lost a wall for displaying his posters/videos and he's not into crystal-studded-darkness 24/7 (ship equivalent), and SW finds the constant barrage of moving posters/videos distracting and annoying.
oh no. but Rodimus can't back down and get the wall rebuilt! then he will have been wrong about his idea!!
so eventually they get a folding wall thingy that re-divides the rooms xD it's pretty much the same as having a door, which SW points out, but Rodimus shushes him, and he makes a big deal about how Nice and Foldy the foldable wall is. oooh, look how it folds. it's so foldy. no one else has a foldy wall
so yeah they end up with a really silly, flawed arrangement but Rodimus is too stubborn to make it less silly and flawed and SW really doesn't care that much. so it's all good xD
thanks for the question. that was fun to think about haha, hope you enjoyed

Quiet of the Mind
a tiny 141 poly drabble— slightly price/gaz centric but not really.
***unedited***
✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿
It's rare that they're granted this kind of peace.
The sun's just beginning brush against the treeline, the gentle lapping of water against a rocky lakeshore mixing with the hum of cicadas and birdsong.
John's old blue truck— the same once he's had since his beard was no more than some scratchy stubble on his chin— was backed up near a dock, a bright red cooler filled with beer and other drinks and lunch meat sitting on the bed of it and the tailgate flipped down.
Up a wooden plank staircase, a fair-sized cedar cabin sat on structural stilts, not far from the water's edge. The boys had rented the thing for the entire 2 weeks, per John's suggestion.
"We're out in the bush all the time as soldiers," John said when he spoke of the trip. "Never get to really enjoy nature, too busy watching our arses out there."
So here they were. A quiet, private lake spanned out in front of them, surrounded by lush green forest and the only other civilization being the cabins on the far side, far enough that the early morning fog that settles over the crystalline waters completely hides the cabins from view.
Simon and Johnny stand on the cabin's deck above, Simon manning the grill while Johnny spears darts into a dartboard fixed on the side of the cabin. Below, Kyle rests, sitting on the open tailgate with a cold can of coke next to him and a maplewood guitar sitting in his lap, his fingers deftly plucking away at the strings. It's a lulling sound, soft dulcet chords vaguely reminiscent of western folk music. John leans against the tailgate beside him, eyes fixed on the far shoreline as he watches a small herd of deer travel through the grass towards the trees. He's quiet, his mind is quiet. For once.
"What song?" He mutters to Kyle as he glances over to him, only to find Kyle's warm eyes already locked onto him through his pretty eyelashes, head tilted with the way he holds his guitar.
Kyle shrugs slightly, continuing to strum. "Just wingin' it."
John smiles at him fondly, but says nothing more. Just turns back to the lake and listens. Even the sound of Johnny cursing at the dartboard and Simon griping at him for putting a dart-sized hole in the wood siding of the cabin can't interrupt his peace. If anything, it's a comforting sound.
There's several plates lined out on a foldable table next to the still-smoking grill— bratwursts, burger patties, hotdogs, grilled cob corn, potato wedges, macaroni courtesy of Johnny, who nursed the pot over the cabin's stove for 15 minutes and fished the ripped up box from the trash 3 different times because he kept forgetting how much milk, butter, and water to add. (Simon told him multiple times to just leave the bloody thing on the countertop until the mac was done.)
The sun's shining bright gold and orange through the gaps in the trees when Simon lets out a whistle signaling the barbecue's done, and Kyle slides his fingers down the strings, stopping the vibrations as he carefully sets his guitar back in his case behind the cooler. He dutifully fishes more beers from said cooler for the other 3 men, favoring another coke for himself. John's hand brushes over his affectionately as he takes the glass bottle with a soft murmur of "thank you, love."
They each carry their full plates back down the stairs and take their seats at the old picnic table at the bottom as the sky paints itself purple and pink, and John's unusually quiet. Content.
His eyes rest on each of his boys in turn as he eats, Johnny and Kyle bickering good-naturedly about the best time of day to go fishing while Simon glances between the two, subtly eggs them on with a quiet "the best time's midnight" and suddenly they've both turned on him, allies against a common enemy. Simon must feel John's gaze on him— he has a knack for that— because he glances up at just the right moment as Johnny and Kyle move on to their favorite fishing lures.
Simon's lips quirk into the smallest crooked grin, an equally fond look in his eyes as the two speak without words.
Price just takes a swig of his beer and pushes all other thoughts from his mind. Averts his eyes to the sky.
A pretty sunset, he thinks.
✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿..•..✿
*bites hand and screams* I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
honorable mentions: I think simon would secretly have a nice, velvety singing voice, johnny is wicked on a drum set, and john is scarily good at whistling.

Just saw phantom live at west end and wow! The sets were big! Now I wonder if other replicas had bigger sets.
For a second I read that as "West End Live", AKA the annual concert thingie with led screens... And I was like HUH?
Tumblr media
Then I understood what you meant. Heh.
First and foremost, I am so happy you had a good time at POTO. It is a beautiful show. I am a huge fan of Maria Bjørnson's set and costume design, and still today - some 30 years after I became a fan - I can be utterly floored by certain scenes.
As far as set size goes West End is actually one of the smaller. Not SMALL, but smaller. Some of the biggest to date include (in no particular order):
The Las Vegas production 2006-2012, with its especially-built theatre with gigantic stage, dome, and "chandelier in pieces". Huge production, larger-than-life details.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The original Hamburg production 1990-2001. Another theatre built to house Phantom (and today one of the top musical theatre buildings in Germany). Extremely wide stage, to the point where Maria Bjørnson was not entirely happy with the proscenium layout. It didn't blend as well as elsewhere. In some scenes it also felt like the cast literally had to run across stage to get into position in time. Oh Hamburg. Needless to say, they narrowed the stage for the revival 2013-2015.
Tumblr media
The Stuttgart production 2002-2004 also featured a big stage. I can't tell if it was bigger than Neue Flora in Hamburg or not, but it was in the same vein.
Oh! But also the original Los Angeles production (1989-1993). Massive proscenium and stage. And yet I don't have a single good photo showing the proscenium or its scale. Hmpf.
I would also mention the World Tour, which has toured in at times huge arenas. It didn't necessarily make the proscenium bigger, but they sometimes did the extended side sculpture look, where there is a drape structure under the sculptures. This was the case when I saw the show in the fairly brand new Zorlu Theatre in Istanbul 2015:
Tumblr media
This could even be considered one of the smaller World Tour stages. In other cases they've been in huge operas or also arenas. Again, it doesn't necessarily mean the set-up on stage is bigger, but it does something with the overall scale. Here's Hong Kong 2014:
Tumblr media
Compared to these Her Majesty's Theatre is way more intimate, both in Maria Bjørnson's original proscenium design and chandelier:
Tumblr media
And the new wider and angel-less design for the revival:
Tumblr media
Just to continue showing the range of set-ups... I suspect one of the smallest stages they've performed the show has been in Copenhagen. The stage is tall, but narrow, and quite cramped backstage. They were originally told no when they wanted to do the show, due to the backstage and understage space. But they came up with lots of methods to make sets foldable, collapable or deconstructable, and hoisting furniture and set pieces up in the air. And they made it work. Very well! But this production didn't feature any side sculptures, just like the riginal Stockholm production where they got the sets from, to not obstruct side view of the already narrow stage.
Tumblr media
Now compare those proportions (and especially the Golden Angel, which I don't think differ a lot in size between productions) to the Las Vegas stage... quite the difference, both with and without the side boxes in the auditorium.
Tumblr media
...and that has been today's proscenium and stage nerding... Hah!

"To build their model, Niu borrowed mathematical techniques from an unexpected source: general relativity, the theory used to describe the warping of space and time. While relativity explains how gravity bends space-time, the researchers applied similar geometric principles to explain how the looping paths of yarn create curvature in knitted fabrics."
Tumblr media
"Where knitting meets origami
Niu explains that the work fits into the larger focus of Kamien's group, particularly its research on kirigami, the art of cutting paper to create complex, foldable structures.
"Kirigami, much like knitting, is an example of how geometry can be used to encode mechanical properties into a material," she says.
The team's previous work has explored how strategically placed cuts in a sheet can cause it to morph into specific three-dimensional shapes when stretched. The insights from knitting take this idea further, showing that a material's internal structure—not just its cuts—can dictate how it folds and unfolds.
"The parallels between knitting and kirigami are striking," Kamien says. "In kirigami, you add cuts; in knitting, you add loops. But in both cases, you're programming geometry directly into the material so that it shapes itself without requiring extra inputs like heat, hinges, or reinforcements."
Dion coined a new term for this approach: knitogami—a fusion of knitting and origami that captures the idea of self-folding textiles. "We call it knitogami because it extends the principles of origami into a soft, fabric-based medium," she explains.
"Instead of relying on folds and creases in paper, we're using the inherent elasticity and structure of knitted loops to create dynamic, shape-shifting materials." "
First of all, stitch patterns a and c look like smocking patterns (Canadian smocking, wave pattern and lattice pattern specifically)
Secondly, I need to mess around with stitch pattern E. That's wild

spence-tober: day 8 - indie director

Tumblr media
It wasn’t often that you had the time to sneak off during the week and just relax on the end of the pier. It was small, but that’s what you liked about it. To be completely honest, it was one of the main selling points for your small cottage house. The ability to walk a small distance on a clean and tidy cobblestone path and make your way to the lakeside where your own private pier was waiting for you.
The waters were never too rough and although you didn’t fish or boat around, just having a small picnic or taking a chair out to sit and relax was enough for you.
And that was exactly what you were doing right now. Your foldable chair was setup, you had a small tote bag with some baggies of snacks and your kindle for some light reading. You had gone out early in the morning with having everything packed last night so all you had to do was drag yourself and your chair out to the small dock in the morning.
Judging by where the sun was, it was now early afternoon and you had been out on the pier for several hours now. It was incredibly peaceful.
“Hey, darlin’!”
Until it wasn’t.
The sound of your neighbor, Leigh Anne Lockley, broke the silence of the calm waters hitting the wooden structure of the pier. You didn’t have anything against Leigh Anne, in fact, she had helped you get an in with the seller of your cottage to help lower the price for you. The older woman was your next door neighbor and often brought over her baked goods and vegetables from her garden. You, in turn, helped out with any problems including finding someone to vacate the bats in her attic, getting her set up on Tinder, and hooking her up with all the streaming services since the RedBox machine at the grocery store had gone away.
Despite your afternoon alone on the small quaint pier being disturbed, you turned your head around, still sitting in your folding chair, to look at her. However, she wasn’t alone.
A taller man was right behind her. He looked to be around your age if not a little older. With light brown hair gleaming in the noon sun and glasses on his chiseled face, you were suddenly glad it was so hot out because you were sure you must be blushing.
The man was wearing simple high waist dress pants coupled with a simple small striped button up, however, it was the set of headphones around his neck and a walkie talkie clipped onto his belt that confused you.
“Hey, Leigh Anne, who do you have here?” You responded back. You moved to take off your sunglasses from your face so you could see the two of them in a better light.
Leigh Anne gave you that hundred watt smile and gestured her hands over to the man, who moved his hand to wave at you, “This here is Spencer, sweetie.”
It definitely wasn’t one of her children or grandchildren, you thought to yourself. Leigh Anne had pictures of them posted all around her house and often talked about them enough for you to be familiar enough with their names.
You waved back and exchanged your own name, “Is there something I can help you with, Spencer.”
He went to speak, but it was Leigh Anne who opened her mouth first, “He’s a director.” She said, like it was some sort of big secret or god-like status, “He’s shooting a film just over the lake there in the woods.” She pointed out over the water and on the other side of the lake.
At least you knew what the headphones and walkie talkie were for now.
Spencer spoke this time, eyes making contact with yours, “That’s right,” He confirmed, “I was over on the other side of the lake when I saw this pier. I was wondering if I could convince you to let us shoot a scene or two here another day this next week.”
Leigh Anne took a step back so Spencer couldn’t see her out of the corner of his eyes and gave you a not so subtle wink and a thumbs up. You blushed harder.
“I’ll leave you two to talk about all this.” She said, removing herself from the conversation, “I’ll be back over this weekend with some snickerdoodles, sweetie.”
You watched for a moment as she departed through the pathway and then focused your attention on Spencer, still standing on land rather than the wooden dock.
“You’re filming a movie?” You ask to confirm.
He nods, “Yeah, just a small indie film.” Spencer brushed it off. “I wasn’t too sure how to find out if this land was owned or not, but I was knocking on a few doors and Ms. Lockley informed me that this pier is yours.”
This time you nodded, “Came with the property.”
“Is there a way I could convince you to let us film here sometime next week?” He asked again, “I could give you a small compensation or we could draft a permit with some rules. I promise we wouldn’t be a bother and it wouldn’t be a large setup. Just five or so people during sunset or sunrise.”
You stood from your chair and walked over to Spencer. “How long would you be using the pier for?” You asked curiously.
“We’d just need a day. Probably wouldn’t even take up the whole day.” Spencer answered you.
You nodded, thinking about it, “And you wouldn’t be doing anything damaging to the surroundings or the wildlife?”
He shook his head, “No, not at all. Just a few talking scenes on the pier with the lake and woods in the background.”
“Alright,” You agree, “I’ll give you permission. You don’t need to give any compensation either.”
He grins, “Thank you, I really appreciate your cooperation.” He shakes your hand. “It’s a really beautiful place.” Spencer looks out behind you, admiring the scenery.
You nod your head with a fond smile on your lips, “It is.” You turn back to Spencer. “So, you’re the director of the film? Is this your first or have you directed before?”
“I’ve directed before, mostly small stuff. I just really love having beautiful backgrounds to compliment beautiful moments.” He answers, looking down on you a little bit.
Spencer stands taller than you, with his lanky but lithe figure, and as he’s staring down into your eyes, you feel your heart beat a little faster with his words.
You look away, bashfully, “That’s really nice.” You swallow down the nervous cough in your throat, “Would I be able to see the movie when it releases?”
He hesitates, “Unfortunately it probably wouldn’t get a theatrical release.” He responds. “But, I wouldn’t be averse to giving you a private showing.”
Your face is burning red now and you can’t imagine this man in front of you is staying oblivious to what his words are doing to you.
His brows furrow and he inspects your face, “Are you okay? You look a little flushed.” Spencer comments, his hand almost moving to touch your cheeks, “Is it the sun?”
You nod fervently, “Yeah, must be.” You deflect, “Forgot to pack sunscreen.”
My god, you think, he really doesn’t know the effect he has on you.
Spencer seems to accept the answer you gave him and retracks his hand from your face. He then glances down to the leather wrist watch he wears, checking the time.
“I actually have to get going,” He sighs, as if he doesn’t want to leave you, you muse.
He pulls out a piece of paper and a pen from his back pocket and scribbles on it quickly, “Here’s my number, you can call if you have any other questions.” Spencer has the audacity to wait for a moment and look at you with a small grin before finishing writing down his information, “Or, for anything else.”
You think you might need to splash your face with some of the water in the lake.
He hands you the slip of paper and jogs back up the path, but not before he gives you a wave goodbye.
As you stare down at the piece of paper in your hand (in which he’s included a derpy written smile next to his name), you can hardly hear anything over the rapid beating of your heart.
You definitely need to thank Leigh Anne later.
Tumblr media
a/n: this is probably the flirtiest spencer i've written thus far and i love it. i want to write more flirty spencer and i have a few more prompts and aus that i think would work with that.

Let's start off our normal posts with a
GHIDORAH DESIGN
I wanted to make the Ghidorah in my lore unique from other designs. I drew inspiration from the Monsterverse (as is obvious) and Keizer Ghidorah, while also mixing in deer (antlers), bat (womgs), and some aspects from Alatreon from Monster Hunter (chest spikes).
Instead of making him just a big dragon, or a gross alien hydra, I needed a mix of the two; an unnatural beastly kaiju (and he's big btw: in my lore he's around 570 feet in height with an approximate 800 foot wingspan). Some aspects that helped him be so unnatural and unique:
Four (in one head's case, three) purely white eyes shadowed by the ridges on its brows
Armor shaped and placed in ways no Earth-baring animal would have them
Curved thin spikes
A mouth structure that, again, no terrestrial animal would ever be caught dead having
A purple tint to the fleshy parts of his body
Feeding tendrils (which you can see in the right head's mouth)
Foldable ears
And, my personal favorite, the almost featureless legs. They look more like fleshy tubes with claws than actual feetsies.
Each head also has a name and personality. The middle one (named Morunan) is prideful and stoic. The left one (the sparky one named Krichi) is unhinged and crazy. And the right one (the scarred one named Durakna) is also crazy, but pissy about it.
The best part is, in my lore, he isn't really a legend, or explained in a prophecy or a terraformer. He just appears to fuck up Earth's shit. The three-headed equivalent of "I just don't like your vibe".
Anyways that's my first real art post here. Enjoy!

What are the stand abilities, my guy
Tumblr media
The stands go from one extreme to another. They are either super simple or super complex. I will try not to go into too much detail:
If something is written like shit, I'm sorry, I'm literally using translator lol
[BORN FOR GREATNESS]: Object Shapeshifting
BFG can transform objects into other objects. The limitations are:
1.The size, it can't shapeshift something bigger than a bike.
2.Any organic matter or liquid can't be shapeshifted. It must be partially solid.
3.If the object is composed of multiple pieces, the user has to know how it works internally to replicate it.
4.The mass, the object the usser want to transform must have similar mass and size.
5.It can't transform a object into a non-object. This rule is quite complicated to explain, For examble: The user can shapeshift a rock in to a Knife or Tennis Ball, but not the other way around, like a PIECE of gold or a PIECE uranium, or a PIECE of something. MUST be an usable Object (Chair, Gun, a Box). Also, must be a credible and possible object of its existence.
BGF or the user needs to be in contact with the object he/it wants to shapeshift. However, it can also delay its effects for a few seconds or cancel it in the middle of the transformation.
[Any questions regarding these rules can be answered and asked. I have no problem answering any questions that arise from these unnecessarily complicated powers lol.]
_____________________________________________________________
[COSMIC LOVE]: Super Speed / Cement Slime / Slow Invisibility
As the name implies, CL can move at surprising speeds. She can climb any surface. The saliva that CL leaves behind wherever she passes can be solidified at the user's will. In this way, the user plays a more defensive role. She can also use the saliva to create walls, bridges or small simple structures. The solidified slime is quite resistant, it is not exactly cement as the name of the ability indicates, but a more resistant material than sewage. It can be broken with enough force, it is not exactly indestructible. Lastly, when CL moves slowly, she becomes completely invisible to anyone, whether they are a stand user or not.
_____________________________________________________________
[NAKED DEATH]: Sword Manifestation / Foldable, Bendable and Extendable Sword
ND can take the appearance of an innocent caterpillar and hide anywhere. The caterpillar can transform into a sword whenever the user wants. This sword has a fairly long range, it can bend and stretch as much as the user wants but it cannot become wider. A very useful ability that ND has is that it can channel psionic energy to become sharper. By channeling psionic energy it also allows the user (being a goldblood) to place their mind into the sword and in this way sense other psionic energies around them and through walls. It is worth noting that this ability is the user's own and not the sword's. In this way they can hit targets they cannot see or adjust the movements of the sword according to what he sense.
_____________________________________________________________
[EMPIRE ANTS]: Removable Body Parts / Transformable Body Parts into Ants
SE can detach body parts from its user at will. However, it does make the user invulnerable to any attack involving slashing. For example, if a sword slices half of the user's head, the user will continue to be perfectly fine. Any body parts that were cut off intentionally or not can be manipulated by the user.
These severed limbs or parts will grow small ant-like legs and a mouth with pincers (sometimes wings) which can be used to attack one or multiple targets. The only way to finish off the user is by attacking the stand directly. Unfortunately for the user, the stand must be nearby for its effects to work cause it short range, so EA often hides to avoid being found during a fight. If the stand is defeated, the body parts will reconnect to the user, having been severed by an opponent or voluntarily detached. The stand's effects do not trigger when the user is unconscious or asleep.
______________________________________________________________
[OASIS]: Convergence of Timelines / Paradox Cloning
oh boy this stand Oasis is a stand with the ability to converge all timelines into one. However, this is only limited to within the hive where the user lives. The user is trapped within her hive and it is impossible for her to leave. All of these timelines are exclusively within the hive, so she will only be able to converge the timelines of the people who have entered the hive. The hive is an impossible space created by the stand where each room is exactly the same but differs in different parts of the time from the intruders in the house. For example, by moving through several rooms you can move through different moments in time within the house, so it is possible to end up meeting yourself in a different time period, but only one time period within the hive. These timelines only converge at the moment the intruders enter, so the only moments they can be in are from when they enter until they have died in the future. So they can't find rooms or themselves from a past before they were inside the hive. Yes it is pretty complicated. When all individuals in all timelines within the house die, any trace of them having entered is eliminated. The user only has to wait for all the timelines to end, by killiing each other or die of starvation.
Another ability that Oasis has is the ability to create clones of the user at different periods of their life. Thus, she can create infinite copies of herself. All of these copies have a hive mind, so anything that one knows, the user knows as well. This is often used to persuade intruders or kill them if possible. An important thing about this ability is that the clones can leave the hive, this is used by the user to fulfill her role as a spy, being able to be in different places at the same time and gather information.
The user and the stand are bound to the hive, so if the hive is destroyed from the outside, the user and the stand will perish. The house is impossible to destroy from the inside. The only way to escape is to find the user and kill them.
Another minor ability of Oasis is that he can generate hooks with chains anywhere in the house. However, this ability doesn't have much use other than just dragging people into different parts of the hive, but they are not for harming or attacking intruders.
The user can also move some rooms around if she is in contact or knows where the intruders are based on the knowledge of her paradox clones.
Finally, each room in the Hive has a harmless copy of the Oasis stand, if this stand is attacked, the entire timeline of that room will be erased along with the room leaving an empty place where any intruder can fall infinitely.
______________________________________________________________
[JUNKY BEAT]: Anger Provoking Sound
JB is an automatic stand. When the user wants, they can select a person and the stand will follow the target wherever they go. From the moment the stand is flying around the target, the target will emit a sound similar to a mosquito. This sound can be heard by anyone, whether or not they are a stand user. Anyone in range of the sound who can hear it will start to get irritated. The people around will start to become more and more aggressive towards the target, who cannot hear the sound in any way. The number of people who can hear the sound is only derived from the number of people around. In this way, the user manages to make the people around fight each other, attacking the target and killing them. People will believe that the only way to get the sound is to kill the one who is causing it, becoming a blind rage and only worrying about stopping the sound. Unfortunately, the stand's range is medium, so the user must follow the target cautiously. The sound JB makes is proportional to the distance from the user. But, no matter how far away the user is, the stand can continue to follow its target, whether the user is too far away to make a sound or not.
______________________________________________________________
[GOREY DEMISE]: Death warrant
GD has two phases: Inactive and Active. When GD is in the inactive phase, the stand will not be able to protect its user from any attack. Any attack that is directed towards the user will pass through them directly. The stand can mimic attacking but any attack directed towards an attacker will pass through them and have no effect. The stand in this phase is completely useless and no one can interact with it and vice versa.
The second phase, the active phase, is activated when the user is killed by another person in any way. When the user is killed, GD will revive the user and it will enter the active phase. In this phase, the stand will become completely tangible, fast and resistant to any attack or effect. GD will defend the user from any threat that could threaten it life, including abilities capable of manipulating time or any effect that threatens the user's life. However, GD will still be unable to attack or do any damage.
When the stand enters its active phase, its automatic ability, Death Warrant, activates. The person who killed the user will have exactly 30 minutes to replicate the same death that the user had on a different person. The cause of death must be exactly the same as that inflicted on the user. For example, if the user was killed with 5 knives in the body and bled to death, another person must die in the same way for the ability's effect to end, 5 knives in the same locations.
After 30 minutes have passed and if the target did not meet the conditions, the target will die in the same way in which the user was killed. If the target met the conditions by killing someone else, the effect will be cancelled and the stand enter again to the inactive fase.
When Death Warrant is activated, it cannot be activated on the same person a second time.
______________________________________________________________
[CAN OF WORMS]: Solid Ground Swimming / Echolocation of Thoughts
COW is an automatic stand that follows one or multiple targets. The stand detaches itself at the user's will and will follow it no matter what the targets are. COW's range is quite long so the user can be very far away and still be attacking its victims. COW's criteria for attacking its targets are thoughts. The stand is capable of reading minds and detecting them like sound waves and in this way attacking any thinking creature everytime it think. This stand can also traverse the ground, being able to travel at great speeds beneath solid ground. Ground, walls, or solid materials do not affect COW's mind-reading ability, and these sound-like waves travel through any solid.
COW has extremely disproportionate strength, however it has a very poor defense, becoming a glass cannon. The stand is also capable of dodging and reacting at high speed to any attack that comes its way, since COW can predict attacks that were previously thought out by the targets. The user can still continue to see what the stand is doing even though it is automatic, being able to return to the user from which it came whenever it wants.
______________________________________________________________
[FIGHTING THE MACHINE]: Super Strength / Super Durability / Super Resistance
This stand doesn't have an ability as such, however, its resistance, strength and speed are completely absurd. Anything that gets in its way can be destroyed with its fists, kicks or attacks. The user also has a fairly high resistance and strength, so between the two they form a quite deadly combination seeing that both the user and the stand are very tough.
______________________________________________________________
[THE BEATLES]: Song of Banishment
This stand doesn't have a manifestation as such, but rather it is a song that the user sings to cause effects around him. When the user sings, the effects of the stand begin to manifest in a fairly large radius affecting anyone who is around. This song has several effects and each one begins to manifest as the user gets closer to finishing:
1st verse: No visible effects
2nd verse: Total paralysis of the body and weakness in the legs.
3rd Verse: Permanent loss of smell
4th Verse: Permanent loss of vision.
5th Verse: Permanent loss of speech.
6th Verse: Permanent loss of hearing (This does not stop the effects of the song, but the only thing those affected will hear will be the song itself.)
7th Verse: Permanent loss of the sensation of touch
8th Verse: All effects above disappear for a few moments.
9th Verse: Those affected by the song are erased from existence.
During the song, any Stand user who attempts to use their Stand will have difficulty. Also, each affected individual will feel their body being covered by thousands of beetles.
The only way to escape the effects is to get out of range or get help from someone who is out of range. However, the loss of senses such as vision, smell, or speech that occurs during this stand are permanent. The user can stop the song at any time. The effects of this stand are irreversible.
______________________________________________________________
[MIRROR OF TEARS - ACT 1]: Intangibility
MOT can render the user intangible, making them capable of moving through different solid surfaces. This also includes any objects or clothing they are wearing, such as their sword. They can decide when to become tangible and when not. They can also render individual parts of their body intangible. Any attack that is not delivered by a Stand passes through the user, making them incapable of receiving physical damage. Pretty simple and direct, really. There is nothing more lol.
______________________________________________________________
[DON'T STOP ME NOW]: Future Jumping
As the name implies, DSMN can send things into the future up to a maximum of 30 minutes. Anything the user or their stand comes into contact with will jump forward in time. The user can choose how far into the future they can send them. This of course includes people and the user themselves. During the jump, the user and the stand can momentarily move in place to change position slightly. This is due to the training the user has had with their stand, but anyone else affected by this ability will not consciously perceive the time jump.
That will be all of them~ If anyone has a question about any of them, I'm open to answering them.

Thoughts on Absolute Batman #1
Non-comprehensive but still kinda thorough analysis w/ pics :3
Definitely spoilers for issue one of Absolute Batman
Gotham
I think one of the cool themes of Batman is he is closely connected to the city. Batman always has a pulse on the city but this Batman IS the pulse. Alfred describes how he has worked in every facet of the city. Water treatment, sanitation, policy, power and in the comic he is construction. This Batman is more connected to Gotham than ever. He is the nervous system.
Tumblr media
I don’t have deep knowledge of Batman but I know a huge part of him is his connection to Gotham and I love how we see even more of this city, characterizing it even more.
Bruce
As mentioned in the Gotham section, I think this Batman is one of the most connected to the city—at least that I’ve seen. Bruce has literal hands on experience with Gotham. He is a multifaceted, skilled worker. He has worked in power, water, sanitation, interned in city hall and construction.
This Wayne has a lot of similarities between Peter Park’s traditional origin story. Some large ones of note are:
1. Both have a dead father figure (uncle/dad) from gunshot
2. Super smart, middle class
3. Captain Stacy / Governor Gordon die(Gordon’s dead right?) saving people
I do think there are a good amount of similarities but more different than similar. It’s very interesting.
I have no proof but I would t be surprised if his mom dies in this first or second arc. Also he is ripped 🥵
Tumblr media
Batman
Tumblr media
I am very excited to see how the Batman Bruce dynamic is. I don’t think this first issue is enough to tell but I’m curious what it’s like. Almost everything Bruce does is for Batman, for the city.
Tumblr media
Batman is very well portrayed as a unit. Borderline force of nature. This is one of my favorite things about Batman but they do it a bit different. Batman does a lot of stuff with paranoia fear but this Batman is brutal, animalistic fear. Other Batman have a larger focus on stealth but this Batman took on a hoard, head on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bat tech this Batman has is obviously very interesting too. The batarangs coming off his ears is really funny but awesome. He’s got bull horns now to charge into someone lmao.
The possible cape is my stand out element, even above the axe. The cape being the way it is, controllable and stiff is soooo cool. He has increased reach, cocoon shield, spikes, gliding omg it’s crazy. I think that it was alluded that the bridge technology young Bruce made became the Batman cape. It’s a foldable, structurally secure thing. The axe is very cool and I think defines this Batman’s brutality compared to others. Batman has been brutal but I think it’s mostly blunt/bashing damage. Absolute Batman slices. He easily draws blood. He still technically doesn’t kill, just cripples whoever he deems fit but this is a “I didn’t kill them, they just didn’t get to the hospital within 15 minutes”.
As the series goes on I might make a post about what a cop this Batman is…
Tumblr media
Black Mask
A friend I trust, who is a mega Batman fan, was hesitant about Black Mask but now he all onboard after the beginning. I’m mostly unfamiliar with Black Mask but love the art so much. (Mf bowl head 💀)
Tumblr media
Misc.
I love seeing operative Alfred. I think the Bat and Alfred dynamic is already great and will develop in a way similar to Daredevil and the Punisher maybe. Sorta kinda allies.
Tumblr media
These panels are really cool to me. I love how the cape communicates motion. Batman just LEAPS outta there.
Tumblr media
Ok thanks for reading all the way(this means I love you now)

The House of Rue Plumet, The House with a Secret
Analyis Part 4.
Continued from Part 3. FInally its for the Attic and the House of Valjean.
1. Attic
Tumblr media
No special mention about the attic in the Brick and neither other adaptations. But in ICDC described it had windows on the front so the entire structure under the roof would be the attic in this adaptation.
2. Valjean's House
Tumblr media
Jean Valjean inhabited the sort of porter's lodge which was situated at the end of the back courtyard, with a mattress on a folding-bed, a white wood table, two straw chairs, an earthenware water-jug, a few old volumes on a shelf, his beloved valise in one corner, and never any fire. He dined with Cosette, and he had a loaf of black bread on the table for his own use.
The other house behind of the pavilion, consisted with two rooms and a cellar as mentioned before. It was the house used by Jean Valjean after moving to Rue Plumet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Only Valjean's room had a description and other room and cellar do not have one and appear on adaptation. Unlikely to his daughter, Valjean used as a foldable bed like below images.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he had chairs made of straw and wooden table, probably that do not luxury and just in simple styles.
Tumblr media
Finally, he had the water jug, and book shelves in his room.(And, of course with that trunk from the convent and the candlesticks.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the end of the Rue Plumet analysis. Thank you for reading!

Color shifts at nanoscale: Researchers develop real-time visualization system to observe stretchable technology
A research team at POSTECH has developed a breakthrough technology that analyzes in real-time the deformation of "serpentine" structures, a critical component of stretchable technology, and visualizes the process through color changes. The team, led by Professor Su Seok Choi from the Department of Electrical Engineering, included doctoral candidates Sanghyun Han, Junho Shin, Jiyoon Park, and master's students Hakjun Yang and Seungmin Nam. The study was published in the December online edition of the journal Advanced Science. Flexible and deformable electronics have advanced beyond bendable, foldable, rollable, and slidable designs to fully stretchable systems that allow freeform deformation. Stretchable technology is gaining traction in diverse fields, such as displays, sensors, semiconductors, electronic skin, biomimetic robots, and smart clothing.

From Seashells to Satoshis: The Evolution of Money
Tumblr media
Picture an ancient marketplace, where the currency jingling in your pouch might not be coins at all, but seashells. For centuries, cowrie shells were prized for their shiny appeal and rarity, transforming them into one of humanity’s earliest forms of money. Over time, these shells gave way to metals—iron, copper, silver, and gold—that gleamed with an unmistakable allure. Soon enough, our ancestors decided that lugging heavy gold and silver everywhere was a bit too cumbersome, so they started stamping metals into more convenient coins. This was the moment rulers realized something fundamental: whoever controls the mint, controls the economy. It wasn’t long before some couldn’t resist the temptation to mix cheaper metals in, keeping the gold for themselves. Those sneaky tactics brought about a new kind of challenge—trust.
Civilizations continued to experiment with what they could use as a medium of exchange, but ultimately, the golden standard took hold in many parts of the world. Gold’s scarcity, durability, and shiny mystique made it perfect for coins. That system thrived, yet society yearned for the next innovative step: paper currency. People quickly discovered that thin, foldable, and easy-to-carry notes were far superior to a pocketful of metal, and so governments printed paper money backed by vaults of precious metal. With the rise of fiat currency, the day came when the promise that these notes could be traded for gold or silver fizzled out entirely. Suddenly, many currencies were worth something simply because a central authority claimed so, and people believed it—or at least went along with the collective delusion. This arrangement flourished as economies globalized, but it also planted the seeds of modern financial headaches, like inflation and incessant money printing.
Still, the convenience of paper money was unmatched—until credit cards and online banking arrived. With a simple swipe or a tap on an app, individuals could pay for things in a purely digital sense. Transactions happened at lightspeed, all orchestrated by a network of banks and payment processors. Yet that centralization, which at first looked efficient, also created single points of failure. If banks had technical issues or simply felt your transaction was “suspicious,” access to your funds could vanish faster than you could say “insufficient funds.”
Enter Bitcoin, launched by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto. The idea behind Bitcoin was to create a system that didn’t require permission or trust in any single authority. Think of it as the next stage in the evolution of money—just like going from shells to gold, gold to paper, and paper to digital banking, the concept of decentralized digital coins felt like a natural leap. Here, the currency isn’t printed arbitrarily by a central bank; it’s “mined” through solving cryptographic puzzles. More importantly, every transaction is recorded on a public ledger called the blockchain, ensuring transparency, security, and an unwavering limit on the total supply.
Some critics argue that cryptocurrencies are too volatile or still too complex for mainstream adoption. Others worry about the energy consumed in mining. Yet, even those skeptics acknowledge that Bitcoin and other digital assets have ignited a global conversation. The very fact that governments and big financial institutions are grappling with how to regulate or incorporate crypto is proof that we’ve reached a tipping point. Humanity has always been restless when it comes to improving its systems, especially the system of money.
From shells in the marketplace to cryptographic tokens on the internet, the thread connecting us across history is innovation. We are constantly reimagining how to store and exchange value. The real question is not whether money will evolve once more—it’s how quickly this new chapter will redefine our personal freedoms, our economic structures, and the ways we trust one another. Will we cling to old traditions until they crumble, or embrace a future where blockchains, decentralized finance, and digital currencies reshape how we think about worth itself?
In the grand tapestry of civilization, money isn’t just coins and notes; it’s a story we tell ourselves about trust, power, and possibility. As we move ever closer to a world shaped by digital networks, the ancient shells on a faraway beach remind us that the idea of value is never fixed—it’s created, adapted, and refined. And now, in the age of Bitcoin, we’re just beginning to write the next chapter.

Hanging Objects 2: Hessian "Pigeons"
After going back to the back to the drawing board after the Sheet Metal Fiasco, one of my tutors introduced me to a new material I had never worked with before: Hessian.
I will cut straight to the chase here- I Really Love working with this material- it's got a good body to it, so it always for structure. than other fabrics, its flexibility and foldability lets you work woth the fabric, comprising on a position that works for both of you- it's more instructive than the complete submission of paper (a favourite of mine!|), and more affable than the unyielding rigidity of sheet metal.
And being fabric, it is much easier to manipulate, through tying, knotting, gluing, folding, scrunching, sewing, pinning, gathering.
Thats enough talking. Lets get to The Birds.
I started with some quick shapes to inspire me
Tumblr media
These are the first 3 I made. Besides hessian, I've used various kinds of string and rope, scrap paper for stuffing, staples, thin sheet metal (it has it's uses after all, though it did slice me in the process)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I Have a few more birds in the works- my end goal is to have a flock of 10-12 - but thus is all i will post for now. Needless to say, i am very excited for my UnBirdly Scrunch Birds.
