Balancing Personal Life and Thesis Writing: A Guide for PhD Students
Embarking on a PhD journey is a significant endeavor that requires dedication, perseverance, and time management skills. Alongside the rigorous demands of academic research and thesis writing, it's crucial for PhD students to prioritize their personal well-being and maintain a healthy work-life balance. In this article, we'll explore strategies for effectively managing personal life and thesis writing during your PhD journey, ensuring productivity, fulfilment, and overall well-being.
1. Set Realistic Expectations
One of the first steps in achieving balance is setting realistic expectations for yourself. Understand that pursuing a PhD is a long-term commitment that will require considerable time and effort. Acknowledge that there will be periods of intense work and stress, but also plan for moments of rest and rejuvenation. By setting achievable goals and expectations, you can mitigate feelings of overwhelm and maintain a sense of control over your workload.
2. Establish Boundaries
Establishing clear boundaries between work and personal life is essential for maintaining balance during your PhD journey. Designate specific times for thesis writing and research activities, but also carve out time for leisure, hobbies, and socializing. Communicate your boundaries to your peers, supervisors, and collaborators to ensure that they respect your personal time and priorities. Remember that taking breaks and prioritizing self-care are not signs of weakness but essential components of sustained productivity and well-being. Wrirk is an expert of Thesis Writing For Phd; visit them for more interesting information.
3. Prioritize Time Management
Effective time management is key to balancing personal life and thesis writing. Develop a structured schedule that allocates dedicated time for thesis-related tasks, such as literature review, data analysis, and writing, as well as time for personal activities and commitments. Use productivity tools and techniques, such as Pomodoro technique, to maximize focus and efficiency during work sessions. Regularly review and adjust your schedule as needed to accommodate changes in priorities or deadlines.
Tumblr media
4. Practice Self-Care
Self-care is paramount for maintaining physical, mental, and emotional well-being throughout your PhD journey. Make time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul, whether it's exercising, meditating, spending time in nature, or pursuing creative hobbies. Prioritize adequate sleep, nutrition, and hydration to support your overall health and resilience. Remember that taking care of yourself is not selfish but essential for sustaining your productivity and effectiveness as a researcher.
5. Seek Support
Don't hesitate to seek support from your support network, including family, friends, peers, and mentors, when balancing personal life and thesis writing becomes challenging. Share your concerns, struggles, and successes with trusted individuals who can offer encouragement, perspective, and practical assistance. Consider joining or forming a peer support group with fellow PhD students to exchange ideas, share resources, and provide mutual support throughout your academic journey. Go to https://www.wrirk.com/domains to download the problem statement and submit a request to get synopsis format for Phd & research proposal format, as per your university's guidelines.
6. Embrace Flexibility
Flexibility is key to navigating the ups and downs of your PhD journey while maintaining balance in your personal life. Be prepared to adapt to unexpected setbacks, changes in plans, or shifts in priorities. Embrace a growth mind-set that allows you to learn from challenges and setbacks and find creative solutions to overcome them. Remember that progress is not always linear, and it's okay to adjust your goals and expectations along the way.
7. Celebrate Milestones
As you progress through your PhD journey and reach significant milestones, take time to celebrate your achievements and acknowledge your hard work and dedication. Whether it's completing a chapter, passing a milestone review, or submitting a manuscript for publication, celebrate these accomplishments as a testament to your resilience and perseverance. Reward yourself with small treats or activities that bring you joy and fulfilment, reinforcing your motivation and sense of achievement.
In conclusion, achieving balance between personal life and thesis writing during your PhD journey requires intentionality, self-awareness, and proactive self-care. By setting realistic expectations, establishing boundaries, prioritizing time management, practicing self-care, seeking support, embracing flexibility, and celebrating milestones, you can navigate the challenges of academia while nurturing your overall well-being. Remember that balance is not a destination but an on-going process of self-discovery and growth, and prioritize self-compassion and kindness as you navigate the complexities of your PhD journey.

I prepared this ask in the Notes app only for Tumblr to not let me copy and paste the text so here’s a screenshot bc I’m not typing all that again lol
Tumblr media
there’s this funny trend i see in trafficblr art, in that, when there’s a lineup of every past winner, most players will be surrounded by symbols that were relevant to their POV, and perhaps drawn with the last emotion they’d felt just before death (or maybe just whatever emotion the artist most associates with the character). The winners might be doing something, or in a pose that reflects how they won—there are a million ways to make a life series winners’ piece. What’s funny about it is that no one ever seems to know what to do with Scott. He’s most often just standing there looking mildly disgruntled. And for the symbols he’s most depicted with, it’s typically poppies, which are only relevant to the first season; last life scott does not place any importance on poppies, poppies dont ever come up beyond a brief interaction in episode 1, and jimmy as a whole is less relevant to scott’s pov in last life than he is in every other season.
not that this is an issue with the art; the pieces are beautifully done, it’s just representative of how little fandom discussion there is about scott’s win thematically. Most discussion I see are about the watchers and how they hate scott for defying him or whatever, but watcher lore is not discussion of the series itself as much as it is a fan creation that is retroactively applied to create meaning.
Scott’s Last Life win, to me, was achieved through accomplishing what Third Life Scott could not.
Scott spent 3L waiting for his day one ally to die. He kept Jimmy at a distance, often fully gearing himself up first before backtracking to help Jimmy along. There’s a funny disparity in episode 5, where Jimmy spends the entire episode trying to get good enchants on his iron armor, while Scott sets up a villager and gets good enchants for the full diamond set that he’d already had in storage, in about half the time Jimmy took trying to accomplish his own goal, iirc. This disparity is also something scott acknowledges with the ā€œI’ll always be more powerful than youā€ line, but it’s been a while since ive written a post like this so i unfortunately do not have the episode number memorized on that one anymore. But Scott goes on to explain that he’ll always have better armor and weapons, which is why Jimmy could never kill him. This is all to say that Jimmy and Scott do not stand on equal grounds in their alliance, and, more importantly, Scott does not depend on Jimmy. The progress Scott makes in Third Life is entirely his own, with Jimmy as more of an afterthought than a teammate.
This is what landed Scott his all time lowest placement. After Jimmy dies first, Scott loses sight of his priorities and dedicates his remaining time alive to avenging Jimmy, rather than focusing on his own longevity (like he’d go on to do in future seasons). And, in that way, Scott’s attitude towards Jimmy (disposable, going to die, unreliable) was an indirect contributor to Scott’s low placement.
In contrast: Scott could not have won Last Life without Pearl. Scott has to rely on Pearl from day 1, having only two lives to start with himself. Pearl gives Scott two lives total. Pearl and Scott are almost always together. They made it to the final four by each other’s side. And that forced day 1 reliance on pearl breaks down the role scott typically assumes (*he’s* supposed to be the person people rely on, he’s supposed to be the one bringing everything to the table) which curbs his tendency to see himself as above others, which then allows for the most genuine happiness i have ever seen him have in an alliance.
The comparison between the way Scott talks to Pearl and the way Scott talks to Jimmy is like night and day. Scott doesn’t compliment or otherwise say anything supportive towards Jimmy (save for the ā€œI believe in you! MCC has trained you for this moment!ā€ during Jimmy’s dare to flare attempt) until after Jimmy has already died. With Pearl, however, Scott is much more open about his care towards her, saying that she’s his best friend and that he loves her as early as episode 2. There’s more examples but between last life and third life, Scott’s attitude towards his primary ally is completely different, and i think it’s symptomatic of Scott allowing himself to love and be vulnerable rather than keeping himself at a distance. And i think that it’s so special that scott won the season where he was so close with his day one alliance, directly because of his day one alliance.
because, to me, one of scott’s defining characteristics is his self reliance. He will have allies, yes, but he often assumes a supportive role and acts as a supplier. He doesnt like taking things from other people. Last Life is different because Scott relies on Pearl, too. It’s also not a coincidence that last life is the only season where scott is normal about jimmy but that’s a different post
tldr yes scott won last life with the power of love but not in the way people say he did (ignoring the boogeyman curse was strategy ā˜ļø)
I SHOULD NOTE, though, that the boogeyman curse was still a fail. Although purposeful, Scott receives the penalty and apologizes to his team. He says he just couldn’t bring himself to do it. I do think that his words here aren’t fully honest— he’d admitted earlier that this choice was fully for strategy. But I also think his apologetic attitude here is genuine. Scott is a perfectionist, he needs to succeed; failing, though purposeful, still hurts. He feels the need to apologize. It means so much to me that his win in last life directly follows the choice to fail on purpose. I’m insane though idk
third life scott embodies scotts flaws while last life scott is him overcoming them šŸ‘ is what im trying to say šŸ‘ last life scott is everything that third life scott could not bring himself to be, in allowing himself to love and depend on other people and overall just be a person.

this was originally sent in an ask to @storkmuffin but i decided i wanna post it on my own blog after all. this is "meta" aka me gushing about park seong hwa for paragraphs
i decided i wanna do one of these type of things for each member and i will probably put them in a pinned post at some point
if you do not want to see kpop meta please blacklist #ateez meta
here goes:
at this point i have thoughts about all members but hwa was my entry point so
yeah i initially had seen that asmr video and a while later probably deja vu or smth came up on a playlist and i was like OK this slaps...wait arent those the guys from that asmr video? and i didnt want to immediately stan a whole new group bc i'm a very cautious person about that but I was like...well...maybe I can just be a Seonghwa fan for now bc i was just so tickled by the idea of a whole idol who looks like THAT being such a huge nerd about something as odd as asmr which i also happen to be a big longtime fan of.
a while later i ended up falling in the deep end of everything ateez, first mostly just with their music (i realized i can count on one hand the number of songs i don't care for and everything else is extremely up my alleyboth in terms of songwriting and talent) and mv's, and then after i got to see them (first leg of towards the light na tour!) spent the week after the concert laid up with covid watching ateez instagram reels and im now officially cooked. but i regret nothinggggg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and the more i watched seonghwa in mv's and performances and elsewhere i just got more and more drawn in. he stimulates the part of my brain where i hold the "am i attracted to this? or do i want to BE this? both?? its probably both but possibly more the second thing". when i was a little kid i had an obsession with the musical CATS (specifically the 1998 movie version) and i think i just love watching people move and use their bodies and voices in such expressive, beautiful, captivating ways to the point it can unsettle some people. i have actually had the specific observation that some of ateez's choreo actually really reminds me of the choreo in cats (2 particular examples that come to mind are the og wonderland choreo and also the intro performance of i think a music bank performance of guerilla?)
seonghwa is just so fun to watch for me, for that reason. the things he can do with his face, body, and voice? unbelievable. i'm a singer so i'm biased towards strong and versatile singers, which he is, and i have always been envious of people with tenor/bass voices and would LOVE to be able to sing those notes but also don't want to undergo any treatments that would cause me to lose my upper register bc singing there is also fucking fun and beautiful. the fact that hwa has both such a gorgeous low-mid register AND those soaring siren notes we love? on TOP of everything else? NOT. FAIR.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then the personality aspects. he just oozes a level of being so deeply weird that i just love. now idk exactly how much of what i see of him is "genuine", i tend to go with the assumption that what we see is informed by calculated business decisions but there are still parts of what is shown to us that are more or less "real" (if curated-as someone who parasocially cares a lot about these boys I sure hope that is the case, for their sakes) but i digress. it's delightful to see someone with this type of persona, real or not, out there doing their thing. it's freaking inspiring and tbh validating as someone who is themselves a deeply weird human and has been told as such (both complimentarily and not)
more on the other members later, for sure. the more i watch them closely the more i also see qualities of them that give me this feeling. i wouldn't be the level of atiny i am if i didn't. i always say that hwa is my bias but literally everyone else is a massive bias wrecker and i'm extremely ot8 they're all so. good and fascinating and hilarious and WEIRD.
(i also have to hand it to the rest of the kq team, the songwriters/producers, choreographers, stylists costumers set designers et cetera. there is something crazy going on in that place im floored)
---------
i didn't even really touch on any of the gender stuff, best believe it's very important to my interest in him.
or on his evolution as an idol into the person he is now. it brings tears to my eyes tbh.
Tumblr media
----------
next up hongjoong!

i was having a chuckle to myself last night about Gristol, and how his plans are basically:
Restore Ford Cruller's memory
Find Maligula
???
Profit
but then... of course they are, right? this is Gristol we're talking about. Fatherland Follies drives home again and again that he's still operating on a child's logic, a warped and reductive version of the world that he never bothered to grow out of. both of his memory vaults center on the images of his childhood, this idealized version of the past that he clings to no matter what. and that's still how he remembers Maligula, too - as this saviour figure, who rushes in to help him when he's in trouble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Two slides from Gristol's memory vault, Glory to Grulovia! Left: Gristol clings to Maligula's back as she summons waves to sweep away his assailants. Right: Gristol and Maligula waving from a balcony as the people cheer. Gzar Theodore brandishes a dagger in the background.]
like so much else, Maligula represents a return to this idyllic childhood - to the peace and simplicity of his youth, when he was free from worries and responsibilities. in his mind, he doesn't need to make any further plans - once Maligula's back, everything will go back to normal. Maligula will make everything better.
...is what i thought, but then i remembered this line:
Tumblr media
[Screenshot source. ID: Gristol, in Truman's body, bows on his hands and knees in front of the newly-awaked Maligula. The caption reads: "Yes, High Priestess! I am here to correct the mistakes made by my father!"]
and that's kind of interesting, right?
to be clear: this happens directly after Maligula sees Helmut-in-Gristol's-body, and recognises him. her line before this is:
"Little Gzesaravich! Have you come to pay for your father's sins?"
my first thought was that Gristol hadn't expected to still be in Truman's body by the time he managed to find Maligula, and this was him trying to placate her and buy some time until he could explain the situation. but watching the cutscene back, that's clearly not what's happening here. Gristol is answering as himself, and his response of throwing himself to his knees before her is, as far as i can tell, genuine.
so what is going on here?
in Fatherland Follies, there's this line in the ride narration that stuck out to me:
"Why didn't the Gzar help Maligula in her time of need? No one knows, but historians agree - it is Gzar Theodore's biggest failure."
other lines mention Gzar Theodore's "mistake", and it's wording Gristol himself echoes in the screencap above. evidently, he believes that his father abandoned Maligula, leaving her to her fate at the hands of the Psychonauts, and it was that mistake that lead to them being driven out of the country - that mistake which he seeks to correct. maybe he even feels like he has a debt to repay to her for his family turning their backs on her all those years ago.
the 'High Priestess' thing, though - that's kinda weird, and threw me for a loop the first time i played the game. it took me until my second playthrough to connect the dots, and remember how the room in the Lady Luctopus - Gristol's room - was full of Delugionist scribblings and symbols.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Screenshot source. ID: left, the walls of the hidden backroom in Gristol's hotel suite, covered in scrawlings of eyeballs and Maligula's name. Right, the pinboard from the hidden backroom. On its surface are photographs and newspaper clippings connected by pieces of string.]
i mean, look at this stuff! he had a whole conspiracy board and everything!
we learn very little about the Delugionists and their beliefs as a whole during the game, but i think drawing the connection here suggests two important things. one: that Gristol was in deep with this stuff. i don't know how he linked up with them - maybe via old family connections, or just good old-fashioned digging (we know he's skilled at worming his way into peoples' good graces, after all) - but it seems likely that he's begun to internalise their ideas, maybe even warping his own memories of events. and two: the Delugionists themselves are, if you'll pardon the pun, pretty far off the deep end.
like... i understand why PN2 didn't go heavy on the "mass-murderer cult worship" aspect of things, in the end, but man this is such a tantalising glimpse into the wider mythos around Maligula. Gristol is proud and haughty and thinks himself above everyone else; the fact that his first reaction seeing Maligula is to throw himself to the ground at her feet says so much about the way he's come to see her. he's not just trying to bring back Maligula, his childhood bodyguard. he's trying to bring back Maligula, the High Priestess of the deluge, the semi-mythical figure whose supporters believe even death couldn't stop. he doesn't even flinch at the way she confronts him, and maybe it's because he's bought in so completely to this deified figurehead, this idea of Maligula; more a living force of nature than a person. and it all comes back to the same place: an abdication of responsibility, not just to the person who protected him when he was little but to this avatar of floods and destruction. Maligula will make everything better.
i'd write more about my thoughts on the Delugionists but that'd be taking a hard turn into speculation, and this is already kind of long and rambling so i'd better end it here. but what an unexpected and evocative line, right? it's some of the only stuff we have to go off of regarding the Delugionists as a whole, but i think it does such a good job of hinting at the wider story - at teasing another layer to the mythos surrounding Maligula, one whose ripples we see throughout the game but which never quite breaches the surface.
#psychonauts#psychonauts 2#bored waiting at the airport so you get more psychonauts meta from me#the delugionists have been on my mind recently (because i Might Just have an upcoming au lorepost about them and also cults are fun)#so tossing my thoughts up here because people seemed to like the last few times i did this#and also it's my blog and i like to talk :)#related vent i HATE drafting posts in the tumblr editor because if you hit crtl+z to try and undo a formatting change#it deletes like half the post you just typed out#(yes i did it again while i was writing this. yes i'm still salty. why do i even bother)#what else... this is just becoming a disconnected thoughts dump#but if you've seen my posts you knew what you were signing up for when you hit the button to expand the post tags#there's new art coming hopefully this weekend if i can get it finished! it's more mermaid au designs#i'm two and a half weeks late for mermay but it turns out starting a new job and moving house doesn't leave you with a ton of free time#but that's okay it's never too late for mermaids#omg and artfight's coming up next month too! geez#i gotta make refsheets for the fsau trio because i would LOVE to get art of them#and this year i don't have a thesis to crunch on so i might actually have time to participate#oh and then in august i'm having top surgery! will make a proper announcement post for it at some point#i say 'announcement'. it's just a life update but it's nice to share#i'm super excited about it :)#i might end up blogging the process and recovery but obviously it won't be going here lol. i'd put it on my main#idk if anyone would find it useful but when i first started looking into surgery i had like very little idea about the whole process#and it's only through joining a bunch of online support/discussion groups that i managed to find more info and resources#so hey it might be useful to share? we'll see#our flight doesn't land for another fifty minutes so now i'm just writing in the tags because i'm bored#alright i'll proofread this and then post it when i land and have signal again. peace out yall hope your pride month is going well

regarding the symbolism of V's glasses:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(plain text in read more)
** addendum: when she gets posessed in the middle/end of episode 5, and she's on the ceiling, her glasses fall off, because...gravity, duh.... but it symbolizes the loss of her true self in that moment, as well as telling the audience it's V that got posessed without having a character say it. the loss of the glasses also represents a loss of innocence, as she's actively being traumatized there, since she's still conscious, but unable to control her body as Solver uses her.
after N gives her back her glasses, she comes back to her senses, therefore returning back to her true self.
oh, the glasses she had during the sentinel fight were the same ones she had during her worker drone days by the way, if you look closely at the frames, the damage is the same! she had them this entire time....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pic 1:
discord message:
idk why but the glasses still on her mutilated fucking body hurts me so bad
like almost a representation of her innocence, or her true self
.....
brain blast
bc every time she has the glasses on or they're shown, she's her true self, or is coming to or revealing her true self
in EP 5 when N puts them on and she slowly comes to, and in EP 6 where she drops her defenses and is genuine to Uzi
(animated emoji of guy slamming the ground)
and the fact she's been carrying them this entire time, her true self never left her
her true self is still there, behind all the layers of hurt and fear, and all her defenses that she puts up
that kind and sweet and shy girl is still there...
the one who loves puppies and blowing bubbles and waving around dumb flags 😭
pic 2:
(replying to previous message i sent saying "ahhh...now that she's lost [her glasses].....")
brain blast..... before she always had them, but she was hiding them on her body, much like she hid her true self in order to protect herself, because she's so scared of everything. But now that she pulled them out and couldn't get them to hide them again, her full self is now always going to be shown, mostly anyway
but the shattering of her glasses means two things:
1) her protective walls coming down, being vulnerable and honest with her friends and teammates
2) her hope and innocence being completely lost. She's in despair. She really, really doesn't think there's any light at the end of the tunnel for her. She's given up. She's given up, and she knows she's either going to be abandoned or die, and that right at that moment, that place of death was the most peaceful option for her solemn scared mind. She would be free from her endless cycle of pain, and her body would be torn apart to never be able to be used agsin. And her teammates no longer care for her, so she's not hurting them by dying in this way, surely. Her and her body are no longer going to be a burden on everyone either. She can finally find peace, her expression at the end is solemn, but in a strange way, hopeful and at peace. Her only hope at that point was to be released from her pain, however.
10.3 hours !!!! šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰
(referring to the total hours spent literally just ranting about V at that point LOL...it's like at 12 1/2 now)

being a huge fan of tlou but also like. thinking that certain stories are built for certain mediums. like the entire theme of tlou2 is grounded and fresh because it’s a railroad/story video game that still affords you mechanical choices in how you navigate the world. i just don’t have a lot of confidence that presenting that story in a tv show with the minimal adjustments that they did in s1 will be fulfilling or compelling in any comparable way. because with tlou1 some of the like. beauty of that story was simply that it was such an emotive story contained in the medium of video games. and some of that was retained just by hitting similar or expanded emotional beats in the show, like the episodes that expanded on the life of the characters and the realities of that world. but truly so much of tlou2 emotional depth and ā€˜why does this story matter’ rests in the fact that’s it’s your hands on the controller, continually choosing to go forward in the story and have hope that it will work out in your-as-ellie-or-abby-or-somehow-booth’s favour. and you simply cannot get that in a non-interactive medium like television. like i do think tlou2 is a good story but it’s a good story because of the investment required by the player to keep pressing buttons and keep returning and to feel the adrenaline like responses of high intensity moments and be jarringly shifted into backstories that only increase the frustration. in general i’ve been thinking a lot about cross-medium adaptation and on the one hand i am glad that season 1 makes the story of the last of us more accessible to people who wouldn’t pick up a video game but it’s also like. maybe instead we can destigmatize video games as this inaccessible and dangerous medium a bit more instead of just . implicitly agreeing . like no maybe your mom won’t pick up a video game controller and play the last of us . but maybe you can play the game in the living room. sometimes the mediums that stories are told in aren’t just important but are actually foundational parts of how the information of a story is conveyed and that’s not only okay but is fucking fantastic. we should be happy actually that there are so many ways to collect a bunch of themes and ideas and put them together and hold them out to someone else and say ā€œwon’t you consider this with me. won’t you feel these emotions and care about these characters with me.ā€
#i’ve been thinking about this both for academic and personal reasons#where like. my thesis literally includes discussion of tlou2 and it’s profundity because of the players position as in control but without#real decision making power in the story#and it’s like. you’re the person animating these two ptsd ridden women who subject themselves to be puppets to their#own grief . and there’s something particularly resonant about the fact that you can’t change the Story. you can only play it.#and like . i’ve talked with my mom a lot about the last of us#since i played it the first time and it really just rocked my shit. and i remember walking out my bedroom after i’d finished tlou2#feeling that odd mixture of empty and completely fulfilled by a good story with tears in my eyes#and a few years later when i visited home and had happened to bring my ps4 along with me and i was having a rough time#my mom asked if i’d want to show her tlou. because she knew i loved it and because i’ve told her it has tropes she’d enjoy#but the only games she’ll ever play are point and click because she’s stubborn and some physicality stuff#but like i remember sitting on the couch just. playing this game and it wasn’t the exact same as her playing it herself . but sometimes her#commentary was like it was.#i just. idk man. tlou lover wants to be hyped but seeing the exact same visuals from the game just in tv show format is like#. what’s the point. why are you distilling the themes by removing the active (non)agency of the player and#replacing it with the passive role of ā€˜watcher’ in a story so emphatically about having an active role in the action#anyway#tagging this#tlou#for blog organization but this isn’t discourse or whatever just me thinkin my thoughts on my blog

I need the ability to transfer my yapping skills into writing my thesis. Every time I think about doing it I die inside, and then turn around and write 2 pages worth of AU yapping. I'd be unstoppable if I could turn that into something productive

Anyone who wants in on the new and stylish Agravaine/Dinadan movement is now cordially invited to my fic:
The Flyting of Agravaine & Dinadan
https://archiveofourown.org/works/63315916
Agravaine and Dinadan have a flyting competition and flirt about it. Agravaine is SO rude. Agravaine also has a GOOD DAY for once in his life, in spite of himself!!! I wrote poetry for this and I used the structure and rhyme scheme of a flyting contest from the turn of the 14th century in Scotland which is also linked to in the fic and you should also read!! Just fyi!!

UPDATE: so the consensus seems to be that the episodes don't quite represent how time flows, and the creators themselves said that Craig's around 6th grade in the present episodes.
I still think this was a fun lil thing to look into and still find the Gibson detail worth pointed out
so I've been doing the math* and if we take that COTC starts with Craig in the 4th grade and count every start of school year/winter episode that passes... Craig would be 12-13 as of Heart of the Forest?
and it lowkey means that Elders started out as 15-ish years old?
there's also an unintentional hint that Gibson might be born in 2005 since that's in his social media handle and people tend to do that
Tumblr media
so if he's meant to be 17-18 rn to be graduating that would put the show in current future (caught up with real time give or take a year)
