#Former Salaryman

Text
It’s night time. Within the dark building, a masked figure takes his blade out of the monster after slaying it. The monster turned into dust or something. He can’t describe it. But what he did know this thing is causing issues around his team. He doesn’t know why but it is aggravating him. It might cause an issue.
Not only that, it went through into a tunnel even with humans around and humans didn’t notice it. Or no....they can’t see it. It’s either it camouflaged itself or humans can’t see it. Only him and probably his fraction. No matter. It cause some incidents that are hard to explain. He tracked it down and slays it. It was brief but this feral demon isn’t a match for him. But...can he call it a feral demon, though?
Tumblr media
“Annoying but good thing I got rid of it.” Said the masked phantom.

Sweet (Totsumoto Yuushi)
Tumblr media
TAGS: Yuushi/F!Reader, smut, breeding, impregnation, some plot Ao3 ver.
Iɴ ᴡʜɪᴄʜ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʜᴜsʙᴀɴᴅ ғɪɴᴅs ᴛʜᴇ ɢʟᴏᴡ ᴏғ ᴍᴏᴛʜᴇʀʜᴏᴏᴅ ᴏɴ ʏᴏᴜ ᴜᴛᴛᴇʀʟʏ ɪʀʀᴇsɪsᴛɪʙʟᴇ.
Totsumoto Yuushi had been down on his luck ever since the recession had forced his former company to let go of him. Applying to other companies also yielded no results, so he was stuck moving from part-time job to part-time job.
However, it wasn’t all that bad.
Before he’d lost his former job as a salaryman, he’d met cute little you.
Soft, fragrant, and probably the sweetest cinnamon roll he had ever come to meet in his entire life.
You with your saccharine smiles and genuine warmth and concern for some random older man you’d met (he passed out on the side of a dingy alley, having drowned himself in beer after being forced to do some more unpaid overtime).
You could have simply ignored him back then because he would have woken up some hours later with a hangover and got back home relatively in one piece.
But you didn’t.
Out of the goodness of your heart, you managed to drag him back to your own apartment and had him settled on your sofa-bed. Hell, you even went as far as laying a blanket on him and putting a pillow that was softer and smelled nicer than any pillow he’d ever used beneath his head.
“Good morning. I just made breakfast if you’re feeling hungry,” your melodic voice greeted him as he sat up, somewhat disoriented and wondering where the fuck he’d ended up after passing out last night.
But speaking of breakfast, Yuushi feels his stomach grumbling as the scent of freshly cooked rice, eggs, toast, and bacon permeated around the homey apartment.
“If it’s not too much trouble…”
“Please, help yourself. I made more than enough to share!”
And for the first time in a very long time, he finds himself sharing a home-cooked meal with someone. Even if you were virtually strangers, he already feels much closer to you than anyone he’s currently acquainted with.
Yuushi goes home with his stomach full, heart warm, and your number on his contact list.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
Contrary to popular belief, he does not sleep with you the next time you two meet up (which was at a popular cafe where he finds himself mesmerized at the sheer happiness you exuded just from tasting the pastries and one of those creamy, fruity drinks).
He does his best to ignore the way the thick, white cream decorates your lips before you lick it off with your pink tongue.
Nor does Yuushi sleep with you even after every time you hang out after that.
He doesn’t do anything to break the ‘platonic’ friendship you two share, because he is so starved of human connection that he finds these moments with you more than enough…for the time being, that is.
Besides, how can he even dare to prey on cute little you, when you blushed so prettily when he so much as placed a hand on your shoulder or on the small of your back as he steered you somewhere?
You certainly deserved better.
A dirty old man like himself isn’t worth your attention and affection if you asked him.
But then he loses his job, fails to find a new one, and continuously fails to pay rent at his old apartment.
Just when it feels like his entire world is crashing before his very eyes, there you are again with a hand held out to him.
“You can stay with me for as long as you need to.”
Yuushi doesn’t hesitate, nor does he hold himself back anymore.

“I want to impregnate you. Gonna make sure my cock keeps kissing your womb like this.”
With your legs wrapped around his waist and your lower body practically folded in half to accommodate the heavy weight of the older man’s body, Yuushi is as deep inside you as he could be. And just like his words, the tip of his cock keeps bullying the entrance to your womb in this position.
“I'll take good care of you and all the little ones we’ll make, I promise.”
The way your insides practically choke his dick with just a few words renews his stamina, and so you both lose yourselves in a haze of pleasure just before the first rays of sunlight peeked through the blinds.

You become Mrs. Totsumoto not too long after, and the both of you move outside Tokyo to manage the strawberry farm you inherited from your grandparents. While your husband does most of the heavy work, especially as your pregnancy progressed, you still helped around with light housework and making different kinds of products with the strawberries you produced.
Aside from the fruits themselves, your humble farm also made strawberry jam, milk, strawberry ice cream, etc. You also had contracts with several businesses, supplying them with your high-quality products.
All in all, business was booming and life was good.
︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
At a newly opened inn somewhere in Japan, the new owner received this week’s shipment of strawberries as his otherwordly wife peeked from behind him.
“Ooooooh, this new batch of strawberries from our supplier is especially tasty today! Would you like to try some K-ko?”

| Your Salaryman Husband | (Vol 2)
Vol 1 (not required) Vol 3 Vol 4 Vol 5 Vol 6 Vol 7 Vol 8 Vol 9
Salaryman!Kento x Housewife!Reader;
Waking up with Kento Nanami...
Word Count: 1.2k
CW: SFW, domestic fluff, fem!Reader, Nanami's shirtless (nondescriptive)
A/n: I hope to make a 3rd volume soon... this was so fun to write!
There was something so peaceful about the morning. Since marriage, life was full of excitement and pleasures big and small. Former causes of stress had been lifted off your shoulders, all by the love of your life, your dear husband Nanami - something that you would always be grateful for.
To say that the provided comfort was reciprocated, was certainly believed by Nanami. His disposition on work remained unchanged since you first met, and you had remained his most precious thought, making every troublesome day worth it and fade away.
Instead, it was only time that still lingered, the tick of a clock and rise and fall of the sun being your constant reminders. In the end, life is short, something that both you and Nanami understood and dreaded.
That was the reason for sleeping in that morning, in Nanami’s eyes. He knew you were both sore and tired from the day before, and it was only right that the two of you got some much needed time together, as newlyweds.
Sunlight had started to pour into the room through the large windows, decorating the dressers and chairs away from the bed. It was a sight to behold, the precious space that the two of you decorated together, and of course the face of you, sleeping softly in his arms.
He couldn’t help but smile at the thought that crossed his mind, closing his eyes. Though he could spend hours listing everything he loved about you, there was one that was particularly apparent at that moment.
Your heat.
The warm radiating heat of your body, covered in blankets after long hours of sleeping. It was such a wonderful contrast to the coolness from the night before, after you took a quick shower and hopped into bed, clean as you preferred. Feeling cold as usual, you had snuggled in close to his arms as he spooned you, hand resting on your stomach as you drifted off to sleep.
Now, you were the warm one, and Nanami wouldn’t have it any other way. It was addictive, having your heated squishy form pressed against him when he woke up. In fact, he woke up early every day, just to enjoy that without missing work.
To get started on the day's tasks, you had to wake up early as well. Nanami left for work promptly at 8:30 AM each morning, and his breakfast and lunch had to be prepared, as well as his outfit and things. Now, this didn’t take nearly as much time as was provided by waking up at 5:30, and the intention of course was so he could sleep in, but that didn’t happen, and in fact it never did.
Something about it being important for Nanami to wake his wife up, with kisses of course, was still floating around in his brain after two months of sleeping in the same bed. He got a good 7 hours of sleep anyway, and dreaming of you still wasn’t as good as the real thing.
Moving even closer to you, he started his little routine. His arms wrapped around your torso, as he gripped the pink nightgown you had on. Placing his head near your shoulder, he carefully kissed your ear, hearing small murmurs from you.
“Good morning, my cute little wife,” he smiled, kissing your jaw next as you stirred. His breathing got heavier as he felt your hands move to his. “Have I ever told you how much I love you, Y/n?” his head moved down to kiss your shoulder, and then your nose as you held onto his wrist.
You were so perfect, laying with him on your side. Surely you were tired, waking up early every morning when you could sleep in. That was why he had to do it, to wake you up himself and make it as enjoyable as possible. To have his voice be the first thing you hear every day, and to get to inform you of his love, even before you got to work. Of course he enjoyed this as well, another sight that only he has ever seen.
“Kento…” you murmured, finally awake. This time he pulled you closer to him, lazily throwing his leg over yours and turning your face to make eye contact. “Yes dear?” he whispered back, kissing your forehead. “I love you…” you mumbled incoherently, still half asleep, as you started kicking the blankets off, overheating.
He kissed the top of your head, next. “You’re so warm…” he replied, squeezing you tighter. “I love it,” he couldn’t help but let out a laugh as you squirmed, his words making you feel butterflies. “It’s too early in the morning for that…” you whined, trying to turn away from him, but he stopped you with another kiss. This time, to your lips.
It was sweet and short, only a few moments passing before he pulled away. “You’re right, my apologies,” he gave you another kiss on the nose. “I’ll save the compliments for later.” You blushed, silently enjoying his groggy voice. It was deep and rough, his tiredness was evident with every word - and you loved the sound.
“Darling, I should get up now.” You stated, starting to untangle yourself from his grip, but in response it only got tighter. Your eyes were wide, starting to feel awake. “Is it that late already?” He asked, rubbing your stomach lightly, as if he wasn’t the one with the watch.
He pulled you over to face him, holding you in a hug. Your face pressed against his bare chest, an evident blush covering your face as he kissed your head again. The lack of clothing kept him cool, making it incredibly comfortable in the morning.
He tilted your head up, meeting your eyes. “Just a few more minutes, I’m tired,” he chuckled, feeling as you pushed him away. “Okay just a few more… or else your breakfast won’t be ready,” you groaned at the thought. His lunch could be put together with leftovers in the fridge, and of course he wouldn’t complain, but all the fresh fruit you had picked up the store would go to waste if it wasn’t used up.
It felt like eternity wrapped in his arms, hearing his deep and slow breaths, the sound of his heart beating, and feeling the rise and fall of his chest as you laid your head on it.
So much so that you didn’t realize it had only been thirty minutes by the time you worked up the will to ask.
“Darling?” You spoke softly, reaching up to give him a kiss yourself. “It’s 6:08, if you’re curious.” He responded, seeing you stare at his wrist. “Thank you, for this.” He pressed his lips onto yours, still just briefly, finally allowing you to get up. The downside to this morning arrangement, in Nanami’s opinion, was that he was awake. You took care of everything he needed to do in the morning, brewing his much needed cup of coffee and picking out his clothing, so that all he had to do was get up and move around, saving his energy for work. But what was the point of being laying in bed when you were gone?
You pushed the covers off your legs, quickly standing up off the bed as to not get drawn back in. Nanami sat up as well, resting against the headboard. Luckily, he still had the view of you rummaging through his closet, still all tired and in your nightgown, asking him sweetly about his activities for that day to choose the perfect tie.
Now he was definitely not going back to sleep.

TCF is all about healing
- This is a review about the novel.
There's possible SPOILERS for readers who haven't finished reading the first volume.
___
When I first picked up the novel, I didn't have high expectations. After reading a lot of stories that end up disappointing me because of how the author eventually adds romance or harems into the story because their main character apparently needs a romantic relationship to feel good about themselves, I thought that Trash of the Count's Family will be the same thing further down the line.
But damn, did the author prove me wrong.
In the first few chapters, the novel's entire vibe was almost unnoticeable. Sure, there were some small details like him not being used to extravagant clothes or finding a simple meal delicious, but it wasn't obvious. It made me raise my eyebrow but I simply thought that he's a simple salaryman or something.
The first lines about him not having anyone who would miss him if he's gone in his previous world can be excused as him having no lingering attachments. And honestly, some transmigration/isekai stories do have their main characters having no attachments in their previous world. So it makes sense and it didn't alert me of what could've possibly happened to Cale, former Kim Rok Soo, for him to be so aloof and calm at the forced transmigration.
And then...he thought about poverty and pity when interacting with On and Hong. That was the first sign that he may have left a few lines out of his introduction.
It steadily got worse when he was talking to Choi Han about him being used to the cruelty of people like Venion. And then, at the first meeting with Raon, he appeared as if he understood the hopelessness of a child under an abusive adult's hand.
That's when I finally thought that TCF is a story about healing. And I was pleasantly surprised.
Sure, there's action, drama, and comedy, but TCF is mainly about moving on or healing from past hurts. There are moments when it can be called "cliche" but TCF is unique in the way it portrays Cale and his relationships. There's the found family trope that I love but what I love the most about the story is how these characters who have lost something or were about to lose something if OG Cale didn't make the deal with God of Death to have KRS replace him, is slowly understanding that they're not alone and that they can improve as a person if given the chance.
It's heart-warming and completely unexpected. I didn't read the first chapter expecting this fantasy-themed action novel to be about this.
OG Cale, Choi Han, Raon, On and Hong, Lock, Taylor and Cage, Alberu, the Dark Elves, Mary, and so many characters paved the way for me to completely fall in love with this novel.
If I sound like I'm exaggerating, then I don't care because this novel is just beautiful.
What completely blew my mind is the final reveal of Cale's past as Kim Rok Soo.
Listen, I have a love-hate relationship with KR survival novels involving monsters and dungeons and the freaking apocalypse. I love some of them and I can't stand the others. But I did not expect that Kim Rok Soo was in a world trying to survive from the effects of the apocalypse.
My first reaction was "What the actual fuck" because I 100% did not expect for the story to go that way. And my second thought was "So that's why!" Because it finally explains why he hates "papercuts"! This guy is so good at making big things about himself sound so small that it left me stunned when the big reveal happened!
I wanna slap him and hug him at the same time.
It explains why he's so good at being a commander. It explains why he's used to getting hurt or why he hates the thought of his friends and family dying with him as the survivor (I believe he has a survivor's guilt?). It explains everything.
He may be in a new world but he's still stuck in his past no matter how much he says about not thinking about what-ifs and his past. The time he spends in this new world is him slowly realizing that he's not alone and he doesn't have to be so scared.
And when I finally thought that I'm done being surprised, OG Cale appears and flips everything I knew about the character. They talk about how content they are with their new identities. They smile. They're happy. And that proves why this novel is about healing and not the simple transmigration novel full of action and comedy. Instead of getting angry at Kim Rok Soo, former Cale Henituse, for the deal with God of Death, he's just happy for the man and for himself. I just love how the author doesn't forget about Kim Rok Soo's sacrifices and rewards him with a happy life with his mother.
It's so hard not to finish the novel within weeks because of how good it is. It can be fast in some parts for the action, which makes sense since everything is happening at once. But there are also slow emotional moments that keep reminding me why I love this novel.
So yeah, this is my review about TCF. It's not a perfect novel but it's a good novel about healing and family. And I'm waiting for the second volume to be done so I can finally read the rest.

Kinktober Day 29: Daddy and Breeding(Am I good enough for you?)
Tumblr media
warnings/kinks: smut, mentions of drinking, daddy kink, breeding, unprotected sex, oral sex(fem receiving) word count: 1.1k pairings: Nanami Kento x Fem!Reader teaser: Kento smirks, “I always meant to start a family…with you.” taglist: @beneathstarryskies @loki-love @witchofcustom. @dreadsuitsamus. @pyrofanatic
Tumblr media
Losing Nanami was the worst thought you could ever imagine. But when he told you that he was leaving the sorcerer's life to try and salvage what normalcy he could, you were absolutely crushed. He was the man you loved the most, and though you utterly respected him, you wondered if he was making a huge mistake with leaving you and everything else behind.
After a few years, you did as you could to find a routine and to lead your life without your lover. Your feelings were still hurt and you were very much tender, but being able to train the newest batch of sorcerers made you proud. You were a good teacher and you found happiness by showing them the ropes.
You just never expected to be able to love again. Kento was your one and only, and you often thought about him. You even tried to track him down a few times, but you had to convince yourself otherwise. It would only lead to heartbreak.
The only thing that changed everything was when he returned to this life and to you. You were busy helping Gojo train his team and you took a liking to young Yuji. But you weren’t expecting the love of your life to be training the same young sorcerer.
You swore your heart stopped when you saw Kento for the first time in years. He was even more beautiful than the last time. Behind his glasses, you saw just how tired he was. Yet his eyes seemed to twinkle when he saw you again.
Tumblr media
“Didn’t think you were coming back,” you say to him, a soft smile on your face.
Kento smiles back, “Didn’t feel like I had much of a choice to come back. Satoru has been on my ass for so long about this.”
It doesn’t take long for the flame to be rekindled. Days upon days of spending time together gets you both reacquainted with one another. Kento is just as sweet and selfless as he’s always been. He’s falling in love with you even more now than he was back then. Now it’s different too. You’re both adults, both grown up…now is his chance to make a difference.
One night, he invites you over to his place. You happily accept, hoping to spend a little more alone time with your former lover. Once inside his apartment, you’re not at all surprised to find it so furnished in such a fancy way. He’s always been one to enjoy the classier things in life.
“I guess being a salaryman has been good to you,” you tease him softly.
He smirks as he passes you a glass of wine, “Yeah, it has. But it was difficult without someone to come home to.”
You two fall silent, unsure of where to take this conversation. He guides you to the couch and he begins putting on a record. It’s your favorite album. A soft smile spreads on your face. Kento sits next to you and you both begin to reminisce on the times before all of this.
“We were so young then…” Kento says, a smile on his face.
You laugh, “Yeah we were.”
You look into his eyes and all the things that made you so crazy for him come flooding back to you. You want to kiss him, but you’re so scared. You’re so worried he’ll reject you. Maybe he’s found a lover this time. You’d be left behind.
“There was always something I meant to do, but I never got a chance to.”
You cock an eyebrow, “What’s that?”
Kento smirks, “I always meant to start a family…with you.”
You barely have any time to consider his words before he’s kissing you with passion and love. His hands cup your face, pulling you closer. The two of you have so much left unsaid, but this kiss is all that’s needed to convey those emotions.
Kento is so quick to guide you into the bedroom, undressing you with haste. He needs to taste you and touch you and fuck you. He continues giving you those head-spinning and heart-stopping kisses. He picks you up, making you gasp at his strength.
“You’ve gotten a lot stronger,” you comment, your eyes glazed over with lust.
Kento laughs, “Oh there’s more to me that has changed since the last time you saw me.”
He throws you gently onto the bed, and quickly he crawls onto you. You pull him in for a fiery kiss, your tongues rolling together in such ecstasy. You tangle your fingers into his hair, pulling him even closer.
Once Kento has you both undressed, you swear you’ve never felt so aroused in your life. He looks into your eyes before he begins kissing down your body. He grunts when he spreads your legs and gets an eyeful of your perfect little cunt. He’s been waiting much too long for this moment.
The moment his tongue presses against your folds, you know you’re done for. You’ll never be able to love again. He’s the only person you’ll want for the rest of your existence. Kento feels exactly the same way about you.
He laps at you like a starved man, his expertise for the sexual act very apparent with each move he does. It’s like he knows how to work your body, and you squirm and writhe beneath him in utter ecstasy. He’s good to bring you to your peak almost three times before you’re begging him to fuck you.
“Yeah? Does my pretty little baby need daddy to fill her up?”
Your heart skips a beat. You never knew him to be so filthy like this. You nod your head frantically, hoping you’re able to convey just how needy you are for him.
“No,” Kento says before kissing you. “Need to hear it, baby. Need to hear it from your pretty lips.”
You moan, “Daddy, please…fill me up.”
He spreads your thighs even wider, and he teases you with the head of his thick cock. You’ve most definitely never had a lover as large as Kento. He’s the perfect man for you. A soft gasp escapes your lips as he slowly pushes into you, making you both begin panting once he’s bottoming out.
“I love you so much,” Kento pants as he begins to fuck you. “I shouldn’t have left you.”
You hush him gently, “It’s okay. You’re here with me now, daddy.”
Kento pulls your thighs up to his chest, placing your ankles on his shoulders. In this position, he’s reaching so deep inside of you. Kento looks deeply into your eyes.
“Gonna breed you so good,” he grunts. “You’re not leaving this room until you are pregnant.”

hi there i hope im not bothering you but i was hoping you could recommend me some good japanese bls? hopefully completed ones? no pressure ofc!
Can I recommend you some good Japanese bls? *laughs maniacally* Oh my anonymous friend, you have come to the right place.
First, go here for a nice little variety pack of some of my all time favorites to get you started. I will add some more gems here in no particular order (all of these are complete and available to stream):
Kieta Hatsukoi (Viki)
Tumblr media
You have probably heard of this tumblr fav about a very confused mess of a boy who gets into all kinds of Situations while trying to sort out who he has feelings for and what it even means to like somebody. This one is super sharp, funny, and has an endearing ensemble cast.
Kabe Koji Nekoyashiki kun Desires to be Recognized  (Viki)
Tumblr media
Two childhood friends--one a doujinshi artist, one a pop idol--reconnect and get the chance to sort out old feelings. This one has great wacky energy while still being quite emotionally deep.
Life: Love on the Line (Viki)
Tumblr media
This bl film follows a pair of high school lovers through coming of age and the challenges of adulthood as queer men. It's so lovely.
Seven Days (Youtube)
Tumblr media
A short film told in two parts, this is a very simple story about a high school boy who is willing to date anyone who asks for a week, and the classmate who is so curious about this guy's deal that he decides to take a week for himself. I bet you can guess what happens next!
Takara-kun to Amagi-kun (GagaOOLala, Viki)
Tumblr media
Two high school boys decide to date each other. That's it, that's the show, and despite that incredibly simple premise there's a lot here.
If It's With You (GagaOOLala)
Tumblr media
A jaded before his time kid who doesn't believe in love meets a nice boy and reconsiders. Another very simple one, but so well executed.
My Personal Weatherman (GagaOOLala)
Tumblr media
And on the not so simple end of the spectrum, this is a story about two men whose communication problems run so deep that they've managed to enter into a relationship with wildly different ideas of what exactly they are to each other. Equal parts kink and confusion.
Perfect Propose (GagaOOLala)
Tumblr media
The story of an overworked salaryman who reunites with his old high school friend and moves him in as a de facto caretaker. This one is very cathartic for anyone who's ever had a soul destroying job.
At 25:00 in Akasaka (GagaOOLala)
Tumblr media
Two former college classmates are cast opposite each other in a bl drama. Old feelings and insecurities return, professional and personal boundaries get blurred, and communication struggles ensue.
A Man Who Defies the World of BL (GagaOOLala, Viki)
Tumblr media
This hilarious parody of Japanese bl is most fun to watch after you've immersed yourself in the others, because the jokes will land harder the more familiar you are with the genre and its tropes. There are now three parts to this and they play out as a continuous story.
I will stop there for now or we could be here all day. I hope you find some shows to enjoy, anon! Feel free to stop by for recs anytime. And for ongoing shows, I am always tracking Japanese ql here.

everything i was looking for
nanami kento x reader summary: when nanami became a salaryman, jujutsu wasn't the only thing he left behind. four years later, he's got his job back and he wants you back too. w/c: 1.5k tags/warnings: angst to fluff. hurt/comfort. gender neutral reader. reader's hair is long enough for nanami to tuck behind their ear. cursing. a/n: it's about time i wrote something for this man. we get to see baby nanami animated soon:') masterlist
Tumblr media
"he left, (y/n)."
you laughed apprehensively at gojo's words, though the expression on his face was anything but amused. honestly, it might have been the first time you'd ever seen the boy wear a serious expression and it made you nervous.
"well when is he coming back?"
a look of pity crossed his features as he searched for the right words, but that itself was enough for you to understand the situation.
"so what?" you scoffed in disbelief. "he's just gone?"
gojo nodded. "he asked me to tell you."
you tried to speak, but you could feel your throat tightening as your body flooded with panic. you needed to reach your dorm before the weight of the situation hit you in its entirety. "o-okay. i'll see you later, gojo."
~~~
though it seemed like a lifetime had past since that afternoon, it'd been only four years. you spent each of them attempting to move on from nanami, but you were beginning to think that it may never happen.
he still appeared in your dreams and some nights, it was like nothing changed. you're eating lunch together in the shade, or you've snuck off to the forest to lay in one another's arms.
other nights were much different, a time spent plagued by his disappearance. you'd be stuck in the first few days of his absence, your only saving grace the coolness of your old dorm's bathroom tile.
it was after a night like the latter that you first heard the former salaryman intended to return, and at once, you resolved to spend the rest of your life hiding away from him and everyone else on the jujutsu campus. that was healthy and realistic, right?
you were successful for nearly a week, but luck would not stay on your side forever.
~~~
when nanami approached the school after completing his first mission back, there was a chill in the air and the moon was already setting. he carried on rather slowly, not quite ready to submit to sleep despite the lateness of the hour. his eyes were well adjusted to the darkness by the time he reached the familiar paths of his youth.
still, he almost missed your silhouette tucked away near the edge of the forest, your back toward him and your face tilted up at the sky. he could barely make you out, but even then, he was sure it was you.
nanami began moving in your direction, his footsteps drown out by the trill of crickets. he stopped short of where you sat because despite the fact he'd been wanting to see you since he arrived, he was hesitant to disturb you now.
he asked gojo about you and was promptly told to give you some space and time. you didn't see what they were like when you left. the warning had been rattling around his head ever since.
"hey," you greeted without moving, having sensed his presence for some time already. you were resigned to your fate, accepting that you couldn't avoid him forever.
nanami didn't answer right away, struggling to get a read on your mood when it used to be so easy. his feet carried him closer and while he was finally beside you after all these years, the space between you felt immeasurable.
"hey," he returned, settling on the ground to your right, near enough that if he reached out he could touch you.
observing your features, he could tell how much you'd changed, but god you still looked so beautiful. that didn't change the fact that you'd hardened somehow. it was written all over your face and he suddenly found it difficult to cope with the fact he hadn't been there for you the past few years.
"you're back."
nanami reached up to loosen his tie, the fact that you hadn't spared him a glance evoking his nerves. "and you're still here."
"i never doubted that i was supposed to be," you spoke sharply.
he fought back a sigh, one that was directed only at himself, while you regarded his silence as a bit grating. maybe it was because you no longer felt comfortable in it. he'd always been quiet and you were used to that, but things were different now.
"i should go."
and he let you, for the first few meters anyway.
"wait," he eventually called out, scrambling off the ground. "d-don't walk away."
you laughed in disbelief, still taking strides in the opposite direction. "you can't be serious."
"please, (y/n)." his tone was one of desperation.
"no!" you stopped in your tracks and he was taken back by the volume of your voice. you finally turned to face him, fists clenched at your sides. "i may be walking away, but you're the one who left."
chest heaving with indignation, you took in his appearance for the first time.
he stood much taller and his body was a bit wider. your eyes lingered on his hair, now much shorter and neatly pushed back out of his face. you felt betrayed by the way it made your stomach stir.
"i'm sorry, just let me-" he began, taking a step toward you.
"stay back," you spit venomously. "you... you don't get to ask me to stay and you don't get to tell me you're sorry when you didn't even let me say goodbye!"
your voice cracked, causing nanami's knees to buckle under the pressure of his own guilt. he tried to get closer to you and this time you stayed completely still, preoccupied with a sad attempt at holding yourself together. when he was near enough, he reached out and let his fingers graze your arm.
"please don't," you begged.
he whispered your name, his voice thick with emotion, and that was all it took for your walls to come crumbling down. the sound of your cries shattered whatever remained of nanami's heart, though he'd left most of it behind all those years ago.
his arms acted on their own accord when they pulled you against his body, one hand holding your head to his chest, the other wrapped around your torso. he still smelled the same.
"no, please," you wept. "i can't do it again."
you beat weakly against his chest, but it was no use. he held you against himself tightly, his lips brushing the top of your head when he spoke.
"it's okay. i'm here," he tried to comfort you.
your voice sounded so small when you gathered the strength to reply. "please don't do this to me, ken."
nanami wondered for a moment if this was wrong, if he should have left you alone or just never have come back at all. the thought was fleeting though. he knew he had to make this right.
"i left because i was trying to find purpose through my work and... i... i couldn't see you because i knew you were the only person who could've convinced me to stay. i didn't see how wrong that was back then."
he heard you sniffle and let out a shaky breath, so he pulled away just enough to gather your face in his hands, your hair lacing through his fingers. you held one another's gaze and somehow it was the most content either of you had been in a long time.
"i'm sorry," he professed earnestly, looking down at you with regretful eyes.
"it's- it's okay." the words tumbled passed your lips before you could stop them.
"no, it's not. but i hope you'll give me a chance to make it up to you. to make it better."
you nodded almost imperceptibly, but other than that, neither of you moved. a breeze swept between the two of you and nanami tucked a loose strand of hair back behind your ear.
it was strange, perhaps even a bit unfair, that after so much time, after everything he'd done, there was no where you'd rather be than here with him. your hands found their way to his chest, the space there broader than it used to be.
"i love you," he murmured.
terrified you wouldn't say it back, he dipped his head down and pressed his lips to yours. the kiss was slow but not without fervency and the small noise that escaped his throat had you pulling him closer.
it was intoxicating to him, the way you felt against him, the softness of your lips, and the warmth that emanated from your skin.
even so, everything about him was impossibly gentle. nanami pulled away first, scanning your face for any hint of dismay.
"i love you, ken."
feelings of relief and responsibility overwhelmed him in tandem. he'd thought about you saying those words every day for four years and he knew he didn't deserve to hear them now. not yet.
nonetheless, you found yourself enveloped in his arms once more as he pressed a kiss to your head.
"everything i was looking for... i had it here with you all along."

thinking about minegishi is really so funny like. just imagine:
you are 16. you have psychic powers that let you control plants (and god knows how you managed to figure that one out). somehow, you are recruited into joining a secret terrorist organization of espers that help to hone your skills. you are still 16 and you are doing terrorism. you are having fun with it.
now you’re 19 and your boss is finally ready to do The Ultimate Terrorism. you take control of a city and are told to scout the area to make sure nobody’s trying to stop you. you see the boss’ son attempting to stop you. you beat up his weird friends. you then see a different middle schooler attempting to stop you. you fight him and a former member of your terrorist organization comes and helps. you defeat his spirits, only for one of your dipshit coworkers to unleash the most dangerous demon known to earth on you all.
you are 19 and a giant tree demon is about to kill you, but the middle schooler from before manages to give him a speech about friendship or whatever and you are spared. the middle schooler just kinda leaves after that. you basically decide this isn’t worth your life and stop trying to help your boss. you then see your coworker get shot out of a building, along with your boss’ son and some random salaryman(???). that coworker was always nice to you so you save them. then there’s a huge explosion but everything turns out fine. the smoke clears on a ravaged city. you are no longer a part of a terrorist organization. you are still 19. you haven’t stepped foot inside a classroom since you were in middle school. you have to figure out what you’re going to do with your life now that you are no longer a terrorist.
you are also nonbinary btw

KITA SHINSUKE × READER
~~A compassionate love you will never trade for any riches.
"Anata?" You call for your husband.
You had just put your twins to sleep not long ago and were about to retire for the night when you saw Kita wasn't on the bed in your room. You like to think you knew him like the back of your hand, so with your confident knowledge of his routine, you decided to go to a place he frequents.
You ascended the attic with a lamp in your hand, then climbed through the mini-steps that led through the rooftop. Against the window frame was your husband leaning his shoulder on it. You smile at his serene expression and how it softened further when he saw you.
"How's our two little rascals doing?" He held his hand for you to take, and you took it gratefully.
"Finally fast asleep." You wrapped your arms around his waist and snuggled closely, craving his warmth in the chilly night. The silver-haired lad indulged you by wrapping his well-built arms around you and giving you a peck on the temple. The view in front of you was one of serene ambience and you could not help but feel relaxed in the calmness of the night.
Kita has always loved connecting with nature. He much preferred the clean air and peace of the countryside to the hustle and bustle of the towering main cities. This was one of the reasons why he chose to start a farming business instead of taking on a salaryman job. Quite a stretch away from the standard practices of men his age.
You nestled closer into his embrace and sighed contently, the memories of yesterday pulling you back to when your life started turning for the better. Five years ago, you gave birth to twins and Kita was slightly anxious about the fact for he had experience dealing with twins. He was nonetheless the happiest man on earth when he held them both in his arms as tears of joy cascaded down his alluring features.
Occasionally, his former volleyball teammates would visit and play with your adorable children. To no one's surprise, they bonded with the Miya twins the most. Two twin flames merging and creating an inferno, for every time they visited, trouble was always guaranteed.
You remember seeing an angry Kita for the first time when Atsumu taught your kids how to prank his brother. Osamu was to pick up sets of rice sacks for his onigiri shop then, and when he lifted the last sack, the grain came bursting from the hole the three monsters had created. Two mini monsters incited by a supposed mature adult. The full-grown monster Atsumu.
To escape the wrath of the silver-haired Miya, Atsumu carried both your twins on his shoulder and ran across the rice field. The two 4-year-olds giggled as they bounced on the pro player's shoulder while he skipped through the run-off platform. This was a bad move on his part for it had just rained the day before, so the soil was still moist. To his bad luck, he slipped and the three ended up falling into the rice paddies.
What would have been a fun play of tag ended severely for all of them.
The older of your twins cried his lungs out when he fell, and Kita came running from the rice mill. The fear on your husband's face was still vivid in your memory, and he was pretty livid when he found out Atsumu was the one liable.
The fury in his demeanour was enough to root all five of you in place that even the crying twins hushed down. Kita stared down at his kouhai with anger no one expected him to have.
You remember him pointing at the parked car with gritted teeth and only saying, 'Leave.' and all the Miya twins could do was bow their heads in apology and rush out.
Poor blonde Miya was almost banned from visiting your twins.
The memory made you giggle, and your husband turned his head to look at you, curiosity dancing in his breathtaking eyes.
"I guess twins are naturally born to be troublemakers," you proposed.
Kita chuckled at your remark and then kissed your temple once more. "You're doing a marvellous job keeping them on their toes."
You melt in your husband's embrace and let the gentle breeze caress your skin as it carries the scent of earth with it. The rice field before you swayed softly against the whispers of the wind, and it seemed to be in tandem with the crickets singing.
It was like watching a concierto of nature made for just the two of you.
You stare at the stars above as it continued to twinkle in the velvety sky. The moon towering over the nocturnal landscape seemingly made the moment feel like a dream of wonder. Time seemed to crawl at that moment, and the sense of harmony and tranquility permeated your very core.
A content sigh escaped your lips as you realized nothing could make the moment more perfect.
You were grateful for the man beside you and the two little munchkins you were gifted with. Even though you were a full-time mother, you were very appreciative of the affluent yet simple lifestyle Kita has provided for the family.
It was like your own little paradise. Full of warmth and laughter.
Your husband's brown eyes look over the field stretching out far with a happy smile on his lips. For him, there was no greater joy than living a farming life with you and the twins. He was content to live out his days, experiencing the simple pleasures of what life offered him.
He did not need anything more.
To Kita, the three of you were his ikigai, and that was more than enough.

This is part of a one-shot series called Haikyuū Lovers. It was previously called Haikyuū Husbandos, but I had to rename it because it started to sound cringy, lol.
It is also up for reading on AO3 and Wattpad with the same title and pen name.

"You're starting a what now?"
"You heard me, Gojo. Now, join us."
"Hey now, hold on."
"What's the need for delay?"
"Nanami, I don't know how to say this, but ... how would this even work? We die in the line of duty on a regular basis, so what good would - "
"All the more reason to take preventative measures and plan for the future. Why should jujutsu society continue to function without a representative for sorcerers? Are we mere cannon fodder, to be thrown at hordes of - "
"I mean, yeah, I get what you're saying, but this - "
"It will be to our benefit if you join. As much as I hate to admit it, your word carries weight. And so does your signature. Now, if you'd just sign here - "
"Damn, I'm beginning to see how lethal you were in sales."
"I was an investment broker."
"Even worse."
"And, as a former salaryman, I can visualise the significance of this endeavour with more clarity than anyone else. You can take my word for it."
"And what would be the function of an organisation like this?"
"Protecting the interests of sorcerers is of paramount importance. We need access to a wider variety of medical practitioners who specialise in sorcery-related injuries. Free psychological assessments every three months and advanced funeral cover, inclusive of a reconstructive procedure in case of gruesome death. Families deserve to see their sorcerer loved ones looking their best, even if they've been chewed on by a cursed spirit. I am also personally advocating for vacation subsidies for destinations of our choice that cover hotel, airfare, transport and day-to-day expenses."
"You ... you've really thought this out, huh?"
"Along with our slogan. 'United we matter, divided we splatter.'"
"Uhhhh ... moving on. I need to ask a few questions before I commit to your ... union."
"Naturally."
"What's in it for me?"
"I thought we might hit this little snag."
"Riiight. Because ... you know. Strongest sorcerer. Practically invincible ... "
" ... Look, Gojo. This pen is sparkly and expensive. You like such things, yes?"
" ... Yes."
"I'll give it to you if you sign on the dotted line here."
"Just how low is your opinion of me?"
"I'll also buy you a milkshake."
"Oh! Why didn't you say so?"

Welcome, new member, to the Jujutsu Sorcerer's Guild. A place for equality, representation and freedom of expression. A place where your clan can no longer invite you to those abusive family dinners. A place for those who would like to be seen as more than a loose cannon, a vessel or an animated suit.
Find your kindred spirits here; those who long for a voice, an occasional vacation and something better than a plywood coffin or a bit of gristle dug out from between a cursed spirit's teeth. Together, we shall reverse the status quo and
UNIONISE. WEAPONISE. LOBOTOMISE.
Herewith find attached the minutes of our first meeting:

Deleted scene from Idia's Confession
A/N: Here is some cut dialogue I had planned to use in my recent one shot where Idia confesses his love to you (link here). I got a little carried away with the initial joke so it was cut to make my desired work length and I realized today I probably wouldn't be able to make it work in a future fic lol
~~
You: (picking up a manga and reading the title) "I was a salaryman but then I got reincarnated as a worm and now I live in my former company president's back garden?" What the-? Why is this title so long?! Idia: (turns to look at you, waggling a tiny screwdriver disapprovingly) Hey! That title's a classic so don't knock it 'till you try it! You: Uh ok then. What's it about? Idia: (looking at you dumbfounded) What are you even saying? The premise is literally right there in the title. You: Well, what genre is it? Idia: Slice-of-life. You: Slice-of life?! What?? How?? Idia: Most of the plot is just the worm guy watching the company president and his adorable family get into day-to-day hijinks. Like the president has a fierce personality at work but is surpisngly doting when he gets home. The wife is cute but ditzy. The 5-year-old daughter is super serious and talks like a medieval knight. The little baby acts like a chaos goblin. There's also a sub plot where birds try to eat the worm guy but he usually just tricks them in really dumb ways. Basically standard stuff for the genre? You: (brain almost melting from the explanation) Huh… well alright then. But this guy got reincarnated as a worm? What'd he do to deserve that? Idia: Uhhh I think if I remember right it was because he was always a jerk to customer service workers. You: (nodding) Ah yeah, that checks out.

| Your Salaryman Husband | (Vol 6)
Vol 1 Vol 2 Vol 3 Vol 4 Vol 5 (Not Required) Vol 7 Vol 8 Vol 9
Salaryman!Kento x Housewife!Reader
Having lunch with Satoru Gojo...
Word Count: 1.6k
CW: SFW, domestic fluff, fem!Reader, Nanami's a bit rude, Gojo...
A/n: I hope I didn't fail Gojo's dialogue too bad, this volume has a bit more plot in it than usual. I'll keep it light next one.
Nanami, your perfect husband, never ceased to surprise you. You couldn’t imagine that a man like him, so perfect and loving, could not have friends. There was Ijichi, a former coworker that he checked in with on occasion, and Ieiri, another coworker that he insisted on be your doctor, but in general he was never one to stay out late to drink with his friends after work, or watch a sports game like other married men his age. He always reasoned, that there was no one he would rather spend time with than you, which was true of course. But still, it didn’t make sense.
Now a salaryman, a senior manager at an investment company, you had met him when he was a Jujutsu Sorcerer, though he didn’t stay that way for long. Once the two of you started courting, he quickly decided to go back to his former position, something he was already considering before meeting you. For the longest time, you hadn’t met anyone from his past, though he never shied away from telling you anything you asked about.
Now what you didn’t know, was that there were other reasons for his reclusiveness. A great scar on his heart, you could say. Something that could never be healed, for it was formed by a monster.
That monster, was none other than Satoru Gojo, Nanami’s former upperclassman and fellow Jujutsu sorcerer.
The sheer amount of pain inflicted upon Nanami every time he had to go within a kilometer radius of that man was something most people couldn’t imagine, who was so incredibly annoying that his own brain cells suffered substantially at the sound of his voice. The living being that just might have been his main reason for leaving Jujutsu High way back then.
And that was the man you two were set to have lunch with, that afternoon. You hadn’t seen him since your wedding, where he was sitting in the front row, making sure to give Nanami a pat on the back before saying “I do.” He was happy to introduce himself, of course curious about the new Mrs. Nanami who had been kept far, far away from him, but the way Nanami was, he quickly hurried the bother away and swept you off your feet as soon as he could to enjoy the rest of the night.
Your husband, Nanami, tried his hardest to be respectful to just about everyone, preferring to get work done and pay attention to more important things than those who bothered him. However when it came to Gojo, only the bitter honesty remained. He had no problem insulting that pest that called himself “the strongest”, which sadly he couldn’t deny. This was true when you tried to bring him up, asking about the man at the wedding while writing thank you notes to the guests.
“Don’t mind him,” he said sternly, trying to avoid the topic - as the great perk of getting out of the Jujutsu world might just have been being done with Satoru Gojo, after all. A lifetime long break from that man. “In fact, I don’t think he even needs a card,” He smiled, holding up the envelope, about to rip it into shreds.
“Of course he does, he gave us such a nice gift,” you muttered, snatching the envelope  back from his hands. That was about as far as you got when trying to bring him up. Nanami would always tell you everything you wanted to know, about his work and past life, and the same was true with Gojo. But something about the way that he scowled just at the thought of him had you wishing you hadn’t mentioned it at all.
You were running around at home waiting for Nanami to get back, as per usual, though this time your struggle was quickly sweeping and vacuuming up a dropped glass. Reaching into the high cabinets in the kitchen, your apron had gotten snagged on a handle as you stepped down from the stepping stool. If only it had been a small spill, but the large glass jar flew out of your hands as you tried to not fall yourself, and landed, smashing into a million pieces directly in the middle of the kitchen floor. Glass pieces tucked into every nook and cranny of the kitchen and surrounding rooms. Then you heard the phone ring. Rushing to grab it, the unknown number didn’t phase you. Nanami’s work often sent calls to the home phone, after all.
“Hello? This is the Nanami residence,” you spoke, holding the phone to your ear. “Good, I got the right number,” the voice sighed. “This is Satoru Gojo, Nanami’s coworker?” The voice who you now knew as Gojo waited for your reply. “Ah Mr. Gojo…” you took a few breaths, “Kento isn’t here right now, but he’ll be back in a few minutes.” “Oh he isn’t? That’s great… I mean fine, that’s fine. I don’t need him here.” Gojo let out a few laughs under his breath. “Actually, I was wondering if you two would like to meet up for lunch tomorrow. Theres this great new restaurant that opened up, and I haven’t seen either of you in a while. How does that sound?” He asked. “I’ll have to ask Nanami, though I doubt he’d be busy. I’m sure he would enjoy seeing you…” You let out a few giggles yourself, thinking about your stoic husband. Of course you didn’t want to upset him, but maybe he would enjoy meeting up with a coworker - and of course, you were awfully curious.
“If you two have any conflicts, just let me know. I’ll make us a reservation anyways.” Gojo leafed through the menu, the sound audible through the phone. “Oh and they have mochi, that’ll be great,” he laughed, “It was good to talk to you, Y/n, I’ll see you later.” “Goodbye, Mr. Gojo,” you responded back, and the call was ended.
In perfect timing, of course, the moment you got back to work, bending down to sweep up the glass mess on the floor, your husband walked up the front steps. You ran over to greet him, fixing your hair and removing your apron. “Welcome home darling,” you smiled as he opened the door. You took his briefcase and set it to the side of the door for him. “I… I broke some glass in the kitchen, I’ll go clean it up in a minute,” you started, as he looked you in the eyes. “And…” he stared, curious as to what you were so nervous about. “I received a phone call, from a coworker of yours, or should I say former coworker?” part of you wanted to change the subject. “I see… and does this coworker have a name?” he asked, taking a seat on the couch.
“Mr. Gojo gave a call, actually.” Nanami’s hands clenched, the veins showing down from his knuckles. “He invited us to lunch tomorrow, isn’t that nice?”
And that is how you ended up in the car, with a very bothered husband on a nice Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was in a nice quiet part of the city, just a few miles away. Threading your fingers together as you sat in the passengers seat, the annoyance was clear on Nanami’s face. “I’m sorry, Kento, but he already made the reservation… I would feel bad to cancel,” he let out a small grunt, gripping the steering wheel. “I’m not mad at you, Y/n, it’s that stupid-” he moved his hand to hold onto yours as he breathed. “Please don’t take anything he says seriously, my love,” you smiled, glad to know he wasn’t mad at you, his humor still coming through.
After checking in with the waiter, the two of you were led to an outdoor table. “I’m surprised you didn’t show up in a t-shirt,” the two of you sat down as Nanami glared at the man before him. “Of course not, I am meeting with my favorite couple, you know.” Gojo sneered back. “I don’t see why you always ignore me nowadays, Nanami, are we not friends?” he sighed, leaning back in his chair. “Y/n, look at the menu, it has some great sandwich options,” Nanami pointed to the paper in front of him, as Gojo whined, being ignored.
“To be honest I’ve moved on from all of that,” the food was getting served as Nanami and Gojo continued their conversation. “That kind of work isn’t for everyone,” Nanami explained, eying the ham and cheese sandwich before him. “And Y/n, is he treating you well?” Gojo asked, giving a look to Nanami. “Yes, of course, he’s wonderful,” you responded shyly, the question catching you off guard. “I don’t know how you got that number anyway, but I know Y/n was quite interested in meeting you,” he smirked at you, his nerves having calmed down quite a bit. “Has he met your expectations?” you thought about it for a moment. “Yes, any friend of yours is a friend of mine. By the way, thank you so much for the gift Mr. Gojo,” he smiled back at you. “That toaster is top of the line, it’s got a ton of extra settings so you can use it on more than sliced bread,” you laughed, taking a sip of water from your glass.
“Anyways, I hope we can do this again, hmm?” Gojo asked, having paid the bill. Nanami looked at you, rolling his eyes. “If we must, then sure,” he responded, grabbing your hand to walk out of the building. “By the way, how is it that my upperclassman is so far behind? I’d think you’d at least have some prospects…” Nanami pretended to ponder, watching Gojo’s face turn into a frown. Thus concluded your first real meeting with one of Nanami’s friends, an interesting experience forever ingrained into your mind.

In this romantic Boys' Love manga, sparks fly when a salaryman who's given up on love reunites with his crush from high school.
Kanade feels like he's living under a constant storm cloud with his unfulfilled life. Stuck working a typical office job and keeping himself closeted, he's convinced there will be no sunny days ahead. But those monotonous days are suddenly interrupted when he reunites with Mashiro, an old classmate he harbored hidden feelings for! Finally, Kanade has found a bit of sunshine in his gray, dreary life with Mashiro's arrival. With a chance to get to know each other again, could this be Kanade's second chance to find love with the one who got away?
this is a romance that involves a reunion between former classmates. I was so excited that this got licensed, it’s one of my low-key faves because I love miserable office workers and I love men with problems. the main character is a gloomy avoidant guy and the love interest is a pretty brash optimist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wish the preview went just a little further because in the next few pages, the main character’s response to his crush confessing to him is to say ‘are you an idiot’. and the love interest’s response is to be like ‘I am literally going to bother you so much forever until you believe me unless you Actually Say With Your Whole Chest you’d hate that’ it’s really funny
I’m a little ambivalent on how a coworker situation was handled, with one coworker pushing the main character to be honest and essentially out himself and fully reject someone else—depending on how I’m feeling, it’s either a little misguided and using false equivalence to push the main character a certain direction, or it’s an interesting clumsy situation that emphasizes the main character’s need for growth through well-meaning but flawed ensemble characters…
what I really like about the series though doesn’t show up until end of volume 1 and midway into volume 2—it’s a bit of a role reversal because it’s actually the gloomy guy who realizes Oh, My Boyfriend Has Problems And I Have To Look Out For Him. to spoil things a bit, the love interest’s mom has… clearly some mental health issues, and I was kind of impressed at the balance the author struck between ‘negative impacts on the love interest’ and ‘acknowledging care for an important family member’. It’s pretty hard to hit the nuance of wanting to maintain contact and not completely cut someone off when they do things that are hurtful, but I think the author was pretty successful (especially since the emphasis is on the love interest Establishing Boundaries And Taking A Step Back)
anyway, it’s a series that’s good for low-ish stakes slice of life romance with a satisfying level of heated drama. I hope volume 2 comes out quickly…!!

*looks at Deku’s suit* maybe the real Hisashi/Jack Midoriya was who Deku became along the way.
I've been thinking that!!!! Horikoshi finally got to do his original plan of Izuku as a guy with support gear being a hero and being a man with a former salaryman/9 to 5 job. Fascinating, but at what cost?

there's 2 fun facts you can infer about AITSF and AINI that isn't spoken about in game if you know enough about japan (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR AITSF)
1. mayumi started her diner likely in the 1980's, before an economic crash happened
when you first meet her (iirc), one of the things she says about her diner is that it was opened 30 years ago, and quote,
Tumblr media
this line seems weird if you know nothing about it, but there was a major economic crash in the 1990s that still has lingering effects to this day.
in short, the banks were so over leveraged into the stratosphere that loan interests were crazy low, and everyone was wealthy and partying until the bubble popped. when it did, it was catastrophic, resulting in the 1990s being known as 'the lost decade'. new graduates couldnt find jobs and people struggled a lot. corporations suddenly stopped hiring fresh graduates. the perception of the 'safe salaryman life' began to see its death in this decade, it was painful.
anyway, mayumi pulling through this era really does mean the diner was doing GOOD. like, CRAZY GOOD.
spoilers: and this also means date was likely part of the lost decade. born 1977, it would've been 1995 when he reached 18. he would've graduated into a landscape of poor job opportunities, so being a civil servant (a cop) would've been a safe choice aside from his own possible motivations at the time.
speaking of.
2. date's car is stupid expensive. like, stupid, fucking, shouldn't-even-be-driven expensive. (potentially over 3k usd every 2 years minimum*)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so. in japan, cars are allowed to be on the road after passing an inspection. 車検 shaken, as it is commonly called, occurs every 2 to 3 years depending on the type of car it is. since the Ford Falcon is a common car, it would have to be inspected every 2 years.
all this system is in place to ensure the integrity of the car. in another way, shaken incentivizes people to renew their old cars for newer, more efficient models. the avg lifespan of a car in japan seems to be 12 years, and also, most people living in tokyo actually don't own a personal vehicle.
now, due to how shaken works, it would cost between ¥100,000 (US$747 rn) and ¥200,000 (US$1495) to renew... for newer cars. for older cars, it's more. plus, each time a car inspection fails, it'll cost even more time and money to get that shaken approved.
i've found someone claiming that driving a 1992 Porsche 911 964 RS meant paying ¥400,000 (US$2990 rn). (link) (EDIT: this was written in 2014)
now, best case scenario for Date's car being a '89, his shaken would cost maybe slightly more than ¥400,000 (US$ 2990 at time of writing) every 2 years. also again, this does not take into effect whether his car would actually fail inspection and require a fix or replacement to its parts, leading to even more costs. so yeah, potentially far more than ¥400,000.
but! one thing about his car is that it seems to be modified, seeing as how a certain someone's (plural) vehicle in AINI is also modified. it's probably safe to assume that there's some degree of tinkering going on under ABIS'/MPD rules bending.
so, this means date's vehicle is either bleeding him dry, or is being paid with taxpayer's money, or shaken isn't a thing in uchikoshi's mind. i'd like to believe in the former, because this means date has
been blowing ¥400,000 every 2 years on his stupid fucking car
been blowing ¥¥¥ on cabaret club
blew ¥1,000,000 (US$7,473 rn) on his stupid fucking audio system
his mountain of porno mags???
feel free to draw your own conclusions about the economy of AITSF, the pay of ABIS agents, and his residence:

kageyama shigeo. i... identify with him a normal amount. (on the surface, i actually have more in common with his brother! the former 'gifted' kid struggle is real)
he has genetic anemia (thalassemia minor). shigeo keeps up his strength with weightlifting at home and night jogs around his neighborhood on a regular basis, in addition to a balanced diet. he can't work out fasted; he'll pass out. he's also frequently cold, though all the muscle he's built up over time helps some.
i don't think he'd be a stress eater. his appetite would be the first thing to go under duress... except for milk, hot or cold. if he's really stressed out? a cigarette, more for the smell than the taste (he thinks they taste awful; this is why they're a last resort).
he's a salaryman who works for his city government in the urban planning department. his specialty? traffic accident prevention.
i think shigeo is actually a pretty sharp guy when he applies himself, or when an issue is particularly meaningful for him, hence his life's work. he also has a sizable amount of emotional intelligence. since The Incident™ he's gained a reputation for working harmoniously with 'difficult' people. though his current kōhai (subordinate) is testing his limits a bit...
he's got a bit of a prankster streak, though not on the level of someone like his confidant hanazawa teruki. his is more understated: a deadpan, a snarky quip, a seized opportunity to rattle someone's nerves on the spot. as you can imagine, that and the above bullet point are not infrequently at odds.
he still wrestles with big emotions. sometimes they overwhelm him. over the years, he's come up with a few ways to deal: cloudsitting; jogging; cooking or eating a good meal; silent moments with his own thoughts, often sitting upside-down in midair, or upside-down sprawled over the back of his sofa; cuddling with teruki, with or without conversation; deep chats with loved ones in general; getting a good massage from his old shishou on occasion; earplugs or a blindfold or soft, wispy textures on his skin.
i see him as a fastidious minimalist, almost to the point of asceticism. he owns only what he needs and uses and no more. i think over time he'd either make adjustments to help others feel more comfortable in his home... or refuse to change anything at all. perhaps both at different times in his life.
while he and teruki do share a fairly deep and cuddly intimacy, at this point in his life he's single and content with that.
most of these show up in my post-canon mp100 fics on ao3. i have more in the works, i promise.
