There's this way of doing female-ness in Christianity that I call "pastel flower journal Christianity." I've got nothing against pastel flower journals per se, but for some reason people believe it's the end all and be all of female spirituality, and I think it's a real disservice towards young Christian women.

One of these days I'd like to start a prayer-and-reading group or something for young women, but there would be no floral themes or over-focus on how "God thinks you're beautiful even if the world doesn't" (a true statement, but it's wayyyyy too often the focus in women's spiritual reading). Instead we would be reading:

Seneca's Letters from a Stoic

Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning

Sheed's A Map of Life

Portions of Pieper's book on leisure

Kreeft's Three Philosophies of Life

Guardini's The Lord (or something similar)

Therese's Story of a Soul

and some select portions of the Nicomachean Ethics.

(Also they're all getting the porn talk. I don't know why we give the porn talk to young men but not young women. There's this idea that women don't use porn and they only need the talk about "guarding their heart." Bullshit. There's porn on the YA shelves of Barnes and Nobles and before that there were bodice rippers. Young women need the porn talk too.)

Every young woman needs to be getting a basic grounding in virtue ethics, logic, natural law, scholastic philosophy and Biblical hermeneutics if they're going to get by in today's spiritual landscape. Enough faffery and emotionalism in young women's spiritual education! Give them real food to chew on, not pasty sentimentalism!

As cameras becomes more normalized (Sarah Bernhardt encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use cameras because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by manufacturing companies. I paint not because I want a painting but because I love the process of painting. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

if i have to explain to you that using a camera to take a picture is not the same as using generative ai to generate an image then you are a fucking moron.

characters in this series that have grown up used to power and can wield it second-hand say some truly chilling things. laila repeatedly implies she holds the lives and fortunes of her neighbours in her hand and would not hesitate to use them to benefit her friends. and kevin casually says in front of witnesses that he can get riko to bribe the judicial system and get andrew free of his drugs. i don't even think they really realize how they sound to normal people because power and privilege are what they've always had within their reach.

Fic idea, Sinestro learning about how dependent humans are on touch when Hal (who has been running himself ragged and hasn’t been touched in weeks) is getting snippier and brattier until Sinestro finally snaps and pins him full body to the wall to growl in his face. It’s intended as a threat but he’s more than a little surprised when Hal immediately melts into the touch, eyes going a little glassy, and even wraps his arms around him for a tight hug. He doesn’t understand why Jordan is reacting this way to a threat, especially if korugarians have different ideas about physical touch, so Hal has to try and explain it to him while clinging to Sinestro like an octopus, just refusing to let go, taking in as much warmth and contact as he can.

A thought occurred while watching night mind go through the welcome home update and idk how to articulate so I’m just gonna drop the thesis and hope ya'll get what i mean.

A big deal is made this update of how Julie woke up early for spring, but she didn’t. The narrator woke her up.

THIS ISN'T A ROAST. It's some thoughts and backgrounds on a thing that's been eating my brainworms for a bit.

haha ok so, the last few years I've been hearing a lot about how AI can be useful and a tool, which i refuse to believe it is (and if so, the damage it causes to artists FAR OUTWEIGHT any benefit).

So, there's this youtuber that covers, like, tech and stuff. When generative AI for images and text came up , they were rightfully poking at the ethical dilemma, and copyright infringement, but STILL made a soft argument about how useful it can be on pitch ideas, concepts, and other things that quick and cheap art could be used (also fuck whoever did this jobs before i guess lol)

BUT THEN an app finally did the same for music, generating indistinguishable quality music. The said youtuber makes music, usually vibe check music to hear on video's background and such.

but see

this time they were frustrated, and made a video about the ethical concern, how unfair it is, how it destroys the effort and passion of creating and all, and did NOT make an argument about how it could be useful, because now they knew that despite the benefit, if it goes off, their dreams is over.

A lot of people are quick to jump into "this can be useful" for generative tools, and very rarely i see artists, especially digital artists, agreeing with this. And most that do either have no stakes on their careers, aka they're already well off, or have no careers to begin with.

Serious artists KNOW how bad it is, no matter what. The youtuber had no stakes in visual art. They doesn't make them, they don't really profit or benefit from making them.

When it came to a thing they DO understand and make, now they've got to understand why it's bad. Why the benefits are not good enough to justify the disaster it makes on artist's life, on the humankind development as a whole.

idk what the point is here, i just really got pissed that at the point, they've been really kinda "this is bad but this exist, who knows, could be good if it's not unethical etc", to go fully into "this is bad. like, real bad for everyone here and music industry".

Wish that understanding came from their kindness, not AI coming with a baseball bat to their knees. Makes me real sad that it came for them too.

actually continuing from this train of thought (in my head at least): hextech as the intermediary in viktor and jayce's relationship.

the focal point of their interactions. the thing that has always been between them and that they could channel all of their emotions into and have it be "our hextech dream".

because a partnership is built on a common goal.

the obsessiveness, the elation, the sleepless nights, the risks, (the love, the love, the love) it all gets channeled into (and through) hextech.

the the reason jayce and viktor didn't, couldn't, come together sooner was because they had hextech to obsess over.

and it took the complete and utter annihilation of that goal in order for them to see each other clearly and go, "no, it's you, it's always been about you. for you."
