idk I feel like i'm going through another midlife crisis and it occurs to me that our generation has them so often they can no longer be reasonably called "midlife"

i'm old, i'm tired, i can't crank out content as fast as the younger folks on tiktok can, and it sucks to no longer be relevant because of it remember when tiaramania and i were like THE sources for tiaras, royals, dress up, etc. ? when I funded and hosted a formal ball and literally couldn't even GIVE tickets away because people were so lethargic? now there's people who do what i used to do here but with millions of followers, getting invited all over the country and the world and able to pay their bills with it. we got formal balls in every major city, sold out, by folks with zero event experience... and everyone in the community gets invited as a guest except for me

i’ve started babysitting for a VERY christian family which is great because they pay me a lot of money but as someone who was raised almost completely agnostic it’s kind of insane. the 2 year old keeps asking me to read her stories from the bible. (why are we reading david and goliath to a 2 year old????) the 5 year old told me today that he was going to bring his legos to heaven with him. he also has repeatedly told me that the lego spaceships he builds are stronger than jesus. (not sure what to say to that. do i deny it??? are things allowed to be stronger than jesus??) had to stop myself mid sentence today because i almost told them im not going to heaven which would DEFINITELY have caused several meltdowns. they’re also both completely fascinated by my nose ring

It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!

Ive said this before but swear the biggest skill to learn as an adult is how to resist high-pressure sales tactics. You do NOT have to answer questions with anything other than "Sorry I'm not interested." No matter how nice they are or no matter how many follow up questions they ask or even how agitated they get when you stand your ground. Just keep saying I'm not interested. Don't answer their questions. Don't give them an opening to try to push back on your reasons. Be a fucking brick wall of I'm not interested.
