Writing under the cut! (Lots of words... oops!!!!!!!)

(Venturing through the house has been nothing short of a terror.)

(The sadnesses littering the area are NOT helping!)

(Granted, you know how to fight - you have each sadness' type memorized, each name and gimmick on lock - but your craft...)

(You're not sure what Craft type you are. You're corporeal enough for your hits to connect, but not corporeal enough for attacks to land on you. Harder still, considering the craft types are all equally as easy for you to summon.)

(Maybe "easy for you to summon" is poor phrasing. Your attacks feel wrong. Unfamiliar.)

(Your Piercing Craft likes to trail, not unlike the rest of your body. You struggle the least with Scissors-type attacks, but it feels like something fundamental is missing in each of your strikes.)

(Your Creative Craft leaves after-images. You thought you were Paper craft for a good while, but you're clumsy with it - like it wasn't made with your body in mind.)

(Your Protector's Craft sparks like energy through your fist. Something pangs at your chest each time you form the handshape.)

(Your attacks are strange. Craft personalizes itself to its user, but for such attuned craft to be so alien....)

(Thinking about it gives you a weird headache.)

(So you won't!!)

(You watch Siffrin fight. He made you sit out of battle after that time you downed yourself. Impeccable aim, Loop!!)

(... They never win, but you figure you should respect their wishes regardless.)

(You feel Experienced. Like these sadnesses would wither away if you poked them too hard. They probably would, if you could land a hit in the first place!)

(You can't help but compare the way he fights with the way you fight. Or, the way you think you should.)

(Like his name, like the House, like everything else, it's all familiar. You fight the same way as him, but your craft makes it difficult to do so comfortably.)

(You can't help but be envious. Why are you envious?)

(The style isn't even yours! You're pretty sure it's adapted from his, even!!)

(Nothing is your own. Not even your body is safe!!! Your skin prickles when you look down. Stars dance across your form naturally, yet it feels unnatural all the same.)

(Stars, are you going crazy? You think you're going crazy!)

(Siffrin shifts next to you, walking comfortably in your silence. You lead the way to the next door.)

("Why Stardust?" They asked you that, before. At least, you think they did? What did you respond with? Something about what's left...?)

(... You don't know. Just, seeing him, talking to him - he's Stardust! So, you must be Loop.)

(It found you so easily in your sea of muddled memories. It must be what the Universe willed!)

(But you still don't know. But you still can't remember. What's wrong with you?)

"Finally, third floor..."

(Siffrin turns a key. You're climbing the House. Right.)

(You smile. Is it forced? You're not sure. The gesture reminds you of something.)

>"Awh, good job, Stardust! It only took you... ehm...."

>"20 Loops! That's great! A bit worse than me, but who's keeping track, right?"

"'A bit worse than you?' Did you remember something?"

("A bit worse than you?")

>"What? I didn't say anything."

(You didn't. Did you?)

(Siffrin makes a noise. They're looking at you funny.)

"Nevermind."

(O~kay. Weird.)

(The King sobs.)

(They talk to you about him. A lot more than you want them to, if you're being honest.)

(Hearing his name, his likeness, to be spoken of so fondly - you feel rage. A deep and primal anger you're sure you've never felt before and will never feel again.)

(So, yes! Hearing the King sob the whole time like he's not actively dooming an entire blinding country has done wonders on your psyche! The reminder of his existence fills you with such joy and whimsy!)

(Your smile is pulled so taut you think it would tear at your skin, if you had any.)

(Siffrin's expression is plagued with sympathy. Something in your core stirs violently at the thought.)

>"Chin up, soldier~! One more floor to climb!"

(The sympathetic look fades, but you don't feel any better. You don't think about the implications.)

"... Right. One more floor."

>"I hope all this effort was worth it!"

"Ditto. Even if I can't snap some sense into him, I just..."

"I want to talk. I've told you about it before, but-"

(stop don't talk about him no no no no)

>"STARdust! Surely there's no need to go over everything again!"

>"You might be forgetful, but helpful Loop here already knows the ins and outs of your fool-proof plan~!!"

(but the thought of talking to the king fills your entire being with sickness)

(Siffrin looks pained.)

"I'm sorry..."

(His voice is so tender. So quiet.)

(You ruined it.)

(That's fine. You don't -- you don't need the ability anyway. You can make your way through the house on your own. You don't need them to get stronger. It's fine.)

(What were you thinking about? It doesn't matter.)

>"So~! That out of the way."

(This time you ignore the King wailing above you.)

>"Where do we go?"

(His face is hidden from you, beneath the brim of his hat. You have a fun time thinking about the expression under it!)

(Is it twisted in frustration? Appalled? Mortified? Betrayed?)

(You know those faces like the back of your hand, but the specifics amalgam in your head, a foggy mass of uncertainty.)

(You feel a tingle on your cheek.)

(... Yes, fun! What fun!)

(Siffrin clears their throat.)

"... You've been leading me through most of the House, Loop."

"So I thought you would know where to go?"

(You have?)

>"I have?"

"Yes?????"

(What????)

>"No I haven't."

"Yes? You have??"

(He looks offended???)

"The rock trap? The key I missed in the Head Housemaiden's office?"

>"'Fraid you're not ringing any bells!!"

(Conversations are one of the only things you remember. Everything else blends together.)

(So, you should know this, shouldn't you? They must've brought it up a few times while you were walking. You weren't thinking too hard about where you were going. The paths feel wholly natural to you... But you do remember that the amount of times you had to give Siffrin a Super Sour Tonic was atrocious, really.)

(How does anyone lose to sadnesses THAT often? It's ridiculous! He should just let you fight!!!)

"Loop?"

(Whoops!!! You should pay more attention to your surroundings...)

>"When did we get to the mirror room?"

(The glare Siffrin gives you bears the striking image of absolute incredulocity.)

(They point to the large mirror at the end of the corridor. You nod. There is a mirror, and nothing else.)

(Aren't they doing that already?)

"Just answer the question."

>"I wasn't aware I was being interrogated! I need a lawyer!!!"

(They sigh.)

"So you led us here... for no particular reason?"

(He doesn't believe you.)

(It's better than the Other Thing you could be doing. The Elephant In The Room. The Big Mirror In The Corridor-Room. That.)

(You weigh your options.)

(Boredom. Or headache. Boriiing borreeedooom...... or excruciating headache.)

(Or answers? You don't know the mirror's deal! You could get something meaningful out of this!)

(Or you could lean against a pillar, bored, for the rest of eternity, waiting to be Done and Over With This.)

(You've been pointedly ignoring the existence of the mirror for quite the while now.)

(Something goads you. A whisper.)

(You follow. Siffrin watches you, curious.)

(You don't... You don't really want to look.)

(Just looking down spikes something uncomfortable under your skin.)

(So you're not sure what to expect, if you were to look in your reflection.)

(Whispers turn to spoken tongue turn to yelling turn to screaming as you approach the glass. Yet, no matter how loud they get, how heartfelt they screech, you can't make out the words.)

(Something in you hurts as you stand in front of the glass.)

(You take a breath)

(in, and out.)

(And you look up.)

(everything goes quiet)

(You gaze at your reflection)

(You gaze at a star.)

(You frown. It frowns too.)

(Stars. All up its body.)

(Flame-like spikes flicker freely from its head, immitating hair.)

(Imitating life.)

(You're looking at a ghost.)

(The screaming returns. You flinch back in surprise. The ghost does not flinch with you.)

(Its head morphs. It's something spikier, now. It's something right.)

(The ghost snickers at you. You look at it.)

(They try to ask, but you're already moving for the key.)

Loop was actually the easiest of these four!!!!! is that hard to believe? i had to draw a whole new head from scratch, but all i had to do was erase the original head. the others i had to stay within the confines of the style using the pre-existing sprite as a base and,, ough.... the eyes were the fun part. the hair was consistently the hardest.

based on that one comment about this loop.... i think sticking with ghostloop as a name would be good. they're not Loop, but they're not siffrin, and resetloop implies they're just normal loop, so GhostLoop it is !!!!

so!!! reset au!!!! still no name!!!!!! it stays reset au. (for now ....)

i did some sprite edits!!!

resetfrin and his lovely resetloop.... there are no variations in loop's outfits here so i settled for just the one sprite.

Jimin's Production Diary: Jimin is music

Music looks so good on and coming from Jimin.

It is fascinating to watch Jimin's thoughts take shape and become FACE. I got chills thinking of that because it's not often that we get to see into the actual process of making actual music.

That precise moment the idea is thought, spoken, and turned into a sound that is melodious and pleasant to the brain is a intimate moment between artist and instrument.

Music is the silence between the notes

Throughout the documentary, Jimin is walking around, humming, thinking, and singing.

At times, he's jumping and laughing and, at other times, you can see he is quiet, deep in thought.

He is a guy that walks around when he's thinking but, also someone who thinks of melodies and lyrics while laying down on a couch with his butt up in the air.

It's the silences produced during thinking that gave the best melodies.

Oh god, but hearing his raw vocals. Mmmm. That's like a drug to me. All my favorite things at once.

Jimin unplugged. That's when you really understand the emotions.

Hearing Jimin sing a freshly created melody in uncharted territory is addicting to me. I could listen to that all day.

There is something about raw unfiltered voices. It's like they show this fragility not only of the singer but also of the moment past and present.

The Reflection of Vulnerable Minds and Unexposed Wounds

It was his way of healing and telling his ordinary story.

Adding words to the music was what made things real. It went from being pretty sounds to memories that Jimin was willing to uncover. He exposed his ordinary story as a way to heal and purge the emotions from his mind.

A painful way to healing.

From what we see, Jimin was coming from a place of vulnerability. He was betrayed, angry, alone, lost.

There is a particular scene that where he sits in a corner and sings Alone and you see how he feels the song when it is played back. It's painful to watch...until he starts laughing.

"When the producer told me it's all right, I tilted my head."

I could thank PDogg, Evan, and Ghostloop a thousand times for believing in Jimin and supporting him. A team of 4 made history and helped Jimin set himself free. They celebrated his ideas and praised his work.

They helped him not "lose the truth" in his artistry.

They deserve all the cake in the world.

No one expected this from Jimin. He wasn't seen as the one who would have an album where he would have participation credits in everything. He wasn't seen as a composer. He wasn't supposed to be a self-made artist.

Many didn't expect his success and were waiting for his downfall but instead he found his way to greater heights.

Jimin was just a guy with emotions and a story to tell. FACE was his diary. Those emotions were so strong that Jimin, being as private as he is, shared them and then shared how he turned the painful memories into a process of healing.

I never thought Jimin would actually show us all that. I'm thankful I get to see this side of him and I value FACE and Jimin even more.

I didn't know this was possible.

First off thank you for responding to my ask I couldn't have said it better myself you really have made me understand Muse better so again thank you! And secondly I think why people kept bringing up the shy/embarrassed bit (not sure on the right translation either) is because they specifically thought he was too embarrassed/shy to share his idea/concept for Who with Jon bellion so they assumed it was personal to his life (I guess they thought the idea he was too shy to share was that he wants to find true love since that's what they think Who is about) which is odd to me cause we don't really have enough information to make a concrete conclusion like that I think it's just certain people really wanting this song and the whole album in general to confirm he's single and straight and searching for that true love when he really he was likely just too shy to share any of his ideas with someone he doesn't know in comparison to pdogg, evan, or ghostloop rather than being embarrassed of the concept he wanted for the song itself. But anyway your interpretation makes the most sense and really takes into account Jimin's own words which sadly not a lot of fans seem to be considerate of and if they do they twist it for their own purposes. Jeesh that was super long sorry for rambling haha!

Hi anon! I think you’re right about why people keep bringing up the shyness issue. Maybe he was shy because of the topic. Or maybe it was just general shyness. I just think that anyone using that as “evidence” of how to interpret Who is making assumptions. We have no way of knowing why he felt shy unless he chooses to tell us.

As for the bigger issue of Who and the current state of Jimin’s love life…I am shocked to see so many people assume that the use of “she” in a song is proof of heterosexuality. A crash course in pop music might be helpful for some people.

If what we some of us think about yoonmin is true, Jimin’s options when discussing his personal life are limited. I always want to listen to what he says, but I also understand that 100% transparency doesn’t seem to be an option for him at this juncture.

The album, Who, the music video, Jimin’s words…these are all things to take into consideration alongside everything else. We have to look at the big picture.

I also want to add: it’s important to remember that so many people in this fandom have an agenda. Perhaps “proving” that Jimin is single helps them feel better about their own ship, or about their own life, or about…who knows what!

It’s very difficult to be objective. And that goes for me too! It’s just human nature; we often see what we want to see. That’s why it’s so important that we be patient and not jump to conclusions.

I remember it well. Last year this amazing moment in @metallica history was unfolding while I traveled America filming the show #ghostloop for @travelchannel but that’s another story in it of itself. I remember I was in Houston Texas and it was hotter then hell. It was the first time I was away from home, family, and loved ones for for that long but I had a job to do and I knew my life was heading in a direction I always dreamt of. I constantly was going on @youtube watching videos fans had uploaded from the two performances and I knew #metallica would release it soon enough. For two months when I traveled American missing home the one thing that kept me grounded and not feeling alone was the same thing that always made me feel part of something larger then life. METALLICA... I’ve loved this band through it all and I can’t imagine my life without them. There music truly touches my soul and they have gotten through incredibly dark times and made the good even better. I love these guys and after seeing them live 23 times and having the honor of meeting and hanging out with them i really can’t ask for anything else as a fan. Metallica changed my life. There music is in my blood and I sure there are many other people that feel the same way I do...

^^ Post game is interesting. Most of the timeloop is about figuring the deal with the memories, some of it is about sif comng to terms with the king, and the very very end of it is about everyone regaining their memories.

so i say it again post game is REALLY interesting!!! because everyone, collectively, is trying to balance their old memories and their new memories. everyone except siffrin. who is not 1:1 old siffrin but is the closest to it, considering how much loop's been through.

loop??? becomes corporeal at some point in the end.

it's very bittersweet! i think! the whole of the party does an "i want to remember!!!" sequence, fighting with their own minds to fill the gaping holes they'd always ignored.

-- loop, after realizing the extent to which they're familiar with the party, had tried desperately to get the party to remember them throughout the loops. in hopes that something would change. they never remembered.

at the same time, siffrin is talking to the king - they're fighting with eachother physically and verbally, desperately trying to get the other understand. resetfrin is not the siffrin the king hated so earnestly, not the siffrin he tried to snuff out.

over the course of many conversations with the king, siffrin caught on. the king is the major lore dump here and is who causes most of the narrative development because i say so !!!!!!!!!!!!

actually. about post game. do you know why their designs are like that

resetfrin hated the lack of autonomy he had over their own body so they decided to. cut their hair. it's a bit curlier now that there's not a lot weighing it down

they decided not to keep the star stuff the king gave them. yada yada character development or whatever.

they gave their cloak to loop!! who is. siffrin again. physically at least. both siffrins are siffrin but with clear differences! like hair length and hair texture! and ohhhhhhhh no what do you mean the universe gave them the wrong body?? what?????? how cruel!!! how blasphemous!!!!!!!

loop hated the idea of keeping her hair darkless (mirror pronouns for loop btw!!! remember that!!!). it reminded them of what it was like to be ghostloop. which they hated!!! but they couldn't have their hair be lightless because that was resetfrin's new thing, so... they just. kept dying the bottom parts of it lightless. it's a compromise

how does the party distinguish the two siffrins, name-wise? uhhhhhh. ask me that question later. idk.

if.... if i have pre-game planned out. and post-game planned out.

then the inly thing I don't have planned out is the ACTUAL time loop bit

after figuring out, through past loops, that the King can't see them, they realized siffrin was their only connection to the physical world. The Last Piece Left of them, physically and metaphorically. the whole time they longed for something else to acknowledge their existence. acknowledge theyre real

they also realize they can do Fuckery

the king has a Sixth Sense for loop's Fuckery,,, flipping him The Bird resulted in a rather quick death for Siffrin. whoops!!!!!

this au is. more closely revolved around gloop than i thought. don't worry!! i have a lot of gloop content planned! but. but you need to understand the pain of resetfrin and the king. the misery snd desperation fhe king felt about his country. siffrin pleading with the king, countlessly, hoping to see some SEMBLANCE of the man he once knew. you need to know the missing pieces the party finds, a hollow feeling settling itself around their hearts. you need to know so bad.

I think it’s interesting yoongi is seemingly the only one that doesn’t work with their in house producers, at least not frequently which I’m kinda glad about bc if he’s capable of not working with hitman, pdogg and ghostloop and fuckass supreme boi, I don’t understand why they can’t outsource producers to make more interesting stuff

because hybe wanna have artistic control over their artists and probably are stingy enough to want to avoid paying royalties - that way all income remains in-house

Thoughts on Control

So I recently finished the game and the first DLC and I thought I’d write up a post talking about how I feel about it as I head into the AWE DLC. Spoilers ahead. Short version? I really enjoyed it!

Pros:

The Oldest House is seriously one of the coolest settings to explore

Love the powers, not enough games let you fly around, and this one reminds you of just how much fun it is especially with the ground pound power

The background lore is interesting and I love the way Remedy ties all their games together

Ashtray Maze, most fun I’ve had since the rock & roll concert in Alan Wake

Remedy finally created some fun boss fights

I enjoyed the cast of characters (with one major caveat I’ll get to below)

Cons:

Jesse herself is... undercooked? Pretty flat as a character? She reacts to all the weird shit going on very stoically, and it makes it hard to emotionally invest in her quest to save her brother.

Speaking of her brother, we never even really get to know him! He spends the entire game possessed by the Hiss, and the little pieces we get just paint him as someone who is (understandably) a murderous brat who has been seriously fucked up by the Bureau. With Jesse being 

Speaking of the Bureau, Jesse sure is quick to get all chummy with her brother’s jailers. Like she never blows up at Emily or Langston or Arish for all the shit they did. I guess the game kinda handwaves that none of them really knew the shit Trench and Darling were up to, but I’m still surprised that Jesse never really vents at them. And that one major caveat? None of the cast really take the Hiss threat seriously, and it undercuts the tension. Langston is more concerned about his cat for fucks sake.

The final “boss” fight in the vanilla game sucks, they should’ve just had you fight esseJ there

Aside from that one kickass Old Gods of Asgard song, I can’t remember a single track to save my life. Pretty underwhelming there

Despite the cons I still would rate this game an 8/10. Very solid, very fun game, well worth picking up.

It’s 100% the type of weird shit that you can’t find anywhere else but Remedy. My first Remedy game was Alan Wake and that’s what I see as their “thing”: action games with modern day settings featuring horror/fantasy elements. Nobody else is really trying to make that kind of game, and I’m happy Remedy is keeping at it (despite their sales struggles seemingly explaining why nobody tries to make these kind of games). I hear their next game might be MP, and I’ll admit my gut reaction is “pass”, same as it was for Arkane’s Ghostloop. We’ll see though, it will be a damn shame if Control joins Alan Wake and Quantum Break in the “likely will never get a follow up” category.

One final thought: That bit where Hiss/Dylan talks about Jesse and Dylan being gender-neutral names, that bit where Hiss/Dylan talks about Dylan basically being outside his body and looking at the convo between Jesse and the Hiss from the same angle as the camera. The Board refers to Jesse as “Jesse/Dylan” in their final conversation in the base game. The takeaway I’m getting is that you the player are Dylan. What the hell does that mean? Is the takeaway actually supposed to be that the player is Dylan, guiding his sister?
