Global Mega Projects: Shaping the Future Through Innovative Architecture and Engineering marvels

"More than three-quarters of UK universities have pledged to exclude fossil fuel companies from their investment portfolios, according to campaigners.

The move, which is part of a wider drive to limit investment in fossil fuels, follows years of campaigning by staff and students across the higher education sector.

The student campaign group People & Planet announced on Friday that 115 out of 149 UK universities had publicly committed to divest from fossil fuels – meaning £17.7bn-worth of endowments are now out of reach of the fossil fuel industry.

Laura Clayson, from People & Planet, said it would have been unthinkable a decade ago that so many institutions had formally refused to invest in fossil fuels.

“That we can celebrate this today is down to the generations of students and staff that have fought for justice in solidarity with impacted communities. The days of UK universities profiteering from investments in this neo-colonial industry are over.”

People & Planet set up the Fossil Free universities campaign in 2013. As part of its efforts the group has highlighted the “struggles and voices” of communities on the frontline of the climate crisis in an attempt to bring home the real-world impact of investment decisions made by UK universities.

Clayson said: “The demand for fossil-free came from frontline communities themselves and it is an act of solidarity from global north organisers campaigning on this … We have a responsibility to speak the lived experiences of the communities resisting these inequalities into megaphones at protests and in negotiations within university boardrooms, to highlight their stories of struggle in spaces so often detached from the reality of everyday life on the frontlines.”

One of the projects highlighted by the campaign is the proposed East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) – a mega project that would stretch almost 900 miles from the Lake Albert region of Uganda to the coast in Tanzania, and release vast amounts of planet-heating carbon.

The pipeline is being built in spite of local opposition, and there are reports that protesters and critics have been met with state violence. Hundreds of student organisers have been involved in the struggle.

Ntambazi Imuran Java, the lead coordinator at the Stop EACOP Uganda campaign, said its members appreciated the efforts of UK students to bring an end to universities’ fossil fuel investments.

“[This] supports those who have worked tirelessly to stop deadly extraction projects like EACOP … Regardless of the arrests and violations on the activists, students’ activists and communities, we continue to demand for the Uganda authorities to stop the project and instead invest in renewables.”

People & Planet said four UK institutions – Birmingham City University, Glasgow School of Art, Royal Northern College of Music and the University of Bradford – had recently incorporated fossil fuel exclusions into their ethical investment policies, meaning 115 out of 149 UK universities have publicly committed to divest from fossil fuels.

Later this month, the group will group will unveil its latest university league table that ranks institutions by their ethical and environmental performance. Campaigners say they will then increase pressure on the remaining 34 UK universities yet to go fossil-free."

Interview with Fotogramas (2025)

What was this British actor missing in his career after the mega-successes of 'Wicked' and 'Bridgerton'? Perhaps a blockbuster with the prestige of 'Jurassic World: Rebirth', in which he stars alongside, and about which he spoke to us exclusively from London.

You can now find the June issue of FOTOGRAMAS at your newsstand, where we talk to Jonathan Bailey about the sweet moment he is experiencing professionally. To the club of staunch fans of the television soap opera 'Bridgerton', where he plays Lord Anthony, last year he added the legion of viewers who came to the box office to see him sing, he danced and enchanted the characters of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the first installment of the musical 'Wicked'. And starting this summer, he will be the co-star, alongside Scarlett Johansson, in 'Jurassic World: Rebirth.'

"Every actor dreams that their work reaches others," the performer reflect. "It doesn't matter if there are few spectators in a small theater or millions of viewers. Actors need to know that we reach the audience, that what we do is being received. When you think that what you do has a global impact, a kind of vertigo hits you, but then you have to think about not letting that affect you: you visualize a single audience member and commit to giving it your all, to doing your best. But, well, going back to your question: yes, it's a fantastic time for me as an actor."

Friendly (he was concerned about how we in Spain had experienced the black out of last April 28), nice and displaying an undeniable appeal, Jonathan Bailey emphasizes that surreal fantasy he was confessing of living: "We filmed in the same London studios where Wicked was made, and I had an attack of laughter when I realized that in the same place where I had been dancing with the munchkins, I now had to pretend that I was being chased by a Jurassic creature with a very bad temper. Do you know what I thought of? 'Jurassic World: The Musical'! Dancing among and with dinosaurs. Now that I think about it, there has been a lot of choreography in the movie. The action scenes are basically choreographies. Every little movement of the actors, the cameras, and those dinosaurs that will be added with digital effects in post-production are planned out. My training in dance has been very useful for the amazing action sequences you'll see in 'Jurassic World: The Rebirth'. If you add to that that in several of them, to immerse us more into the situation, Gareth (Edwards, the film's director) played the music of John Williams from the early features of the franchise through the speakers on set, feeling like I was in a musical wasn't far-fetched."

With that idea in mind (never say never, Bailey starred in a musical about American Psycho) of a premiere in London West End of a musical with dancing and singing dinosaurs forever implanted in our brains, we asked the actor to remember his first time in this universe born from a novel by Michael Crichton and the talent Steven Spielberg. "My three sisters, my parents and I went together to see Jurassic Park in cinemas. I was very little but many of the images still stayed with me, some of which I probably invented because we all went back together when it returned in theatre for an anniversary, and I searched for them but couldn't see those scenes anymore. Everytime it returned in theatre, I have always went back to see it, enjoying it. As I did for the rest of the saga, of course. Being part of this franchise, and seeing your name attached next to Steven Spielberg, to Frank Marshall, makes me feel happiness the size of Tyrannosaurus. From the minute they asked me to partecipate in this project, they made me feel part of it, continuing the work other actors before me had done so well. They have been extremely generous with me: I went to see post-production, I attended the recording of the soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat and the orchestra..."

And that feeling of childness was precisely what Gareth Edwards wanted to have during the filming of Jurassic World Rebirth. "The secret of the Jurassic Park franchise is that it appelead to our sense of wonder, the performer identifies with a subject that touch the innocence of what a child has, that feeling that Steven Spielber was able to recreate, and convince us that dinosaurs were alive again. Gareth asked the artistic team to recover those feelings and to experience each scene as something wonderful, real but also dangerous because of course there is a lot of risk and suspense in the movie, but to be amazed to be able to interact with monstrous creatures, even if they weren't present on set. Let me tell you an anecdote: on location in Thailand we filmed a spectacular scene in which the expedition led by Scarlett Johansson, of which I'm part of, is attacked by a pack of dinosaurs. We ran, we screamed, we went from a place to another, we feel as we were being pushed...And when Gareth yelled 'cut', there was a moment of silence that was interrupted by an applause. Obviously it was just us, but everyone lived and experienced that scene as the dinosaurs were truly there."

The animatronics were there during the filming, including a baby dinosaur that delighted the cast, and also some special guests: Jonathan Bailey's nieces who visited the set in London. They also went to the Wicked's set. "They ignored me there because there was Ariana Grande, and here because the animatonic was a delight. David Koepp has returned to the saga as a screenwriter, and that's been noticeable," Bailey continues. "It's not about the nostalgia, about cloning what made Jurassic Park great in the 90s, but more about reviving the magic of adventure by expanding the narrative framework that has to do with the presence of having dinosaurs among us again. That return thought science raised many questions and dilemmas, and here David re-opens those etical and scientific debates. He has done it in the old fashioned way, without losing what the movie is truly about: a great adventure for families. The idea of family has always been present in this franchise, and our movie is no exception. The relationship between Scarlett's and my character with the kids of Manuel Garcia Rulfo's character, whose shipwrecked on the island where the action takes place, it is part of Spielber's mark. His movies always speak of families: it's his greatest virtue." And the filming atmosphere was familial: "We became a close group", Bailey acknowledges, "a family and we enjoyed the work."

"I thought the same thing!" the actor jumps in his seat when we ask him if it was a coincidence that his character Dr. Loomis (Henry) resembles another Dr. Loomis (Sam), Donald Pleasance from the Halloween franchise. "It's surely a private, cinephile joke by David Koepp or Gareth Edwards," he assures us. "Because...are these two fictional doctors similar? No, they aren't. I think, except for Pleasance perseverance in capturing Michael Myers, my character is a lover and protector of dinosaurs, of life in general. His motto is that survival is a long distance race. He's not a lab rat: he's partecipated to other expeditions before, but this is undoubtely the riskiest one because he has to identify, locate and extract the DNA of three different species, which with it will be possible to develop a medicine that will be beneficial for humans. This movie will not explore and delve a parallel between the extinction of dinosaurs with the possible extinction of humans like previous movies. It goes down other paths, although, it does vindicate all those species that sacrificed themselves on Isla Nublar to show us that in a certain way, all the creatues that inhabit this planet have a connection that can help us to continue to live here together. Henry is a palentologist who doesn't hesitate to act like Indiana Jones. He combines aspects of the character played by Sam Neill but with the cynicism from Jeff Goldblum's character. The thing is that you can't be sole hero if Zora Bennett, Scarlett Johansson's role is there. She plays a sort of mercenary, specialist in high-risk missions. Her right hand is Duncan Kincaid, played by Mahershala Ali. They represent the adventure of the movie. Villains? Perhaps the pharmaceutical magnate played by Rupert Friend, who only thinks about financial gain. But everyone has to work together to survive."

My distoipian short story i hope you like it

I wake up. I turn off my alarm clock (head implant) and leave my house. My mom is already at work, her job as a looping stripper hologram starts at 3am. I get on the city bus (flying) and head to dystopian megaschool. Chris Pratt Generalized Turbocademy, located in central HyperNeo CyberJersey.

As soon as I arrive the custodian android straps me into my infopod. The VR headset thrusts itself onto my eyes and feeds me two hours straight of propagandvertising (portmantaeu of propaganda+advertising). I am then quizzed.

"Who Won The Neon Wars?" It asks.

"PepsiCo," I answer.

"How Many People Died In The Neon Wars?"

"2.6 Trillion."

"Name One Long-Term Consequence Of The Neon Wars."

"The sun got extinguished."

And the quiz continues. I get every question right- if I got two or more wrong, my infopod would liquefy me and send my remains to the cafeteria to be served as lunch. The headset chastises my handwriting and recommends a stabilizer implant for my wrist. (I already have one but the machine is trying to get me to admit it's a bootleg. If I do admit it, I will also be liquefied.)

After that is lunch. They're serving my favorite today: liquefied students. I meet up with my friends Xyrone, Klazzz, and M.I.K.E. and we gossip together.

Xyrone is a hacker with a headset constantly strapped over his eyes and a bitcoin-mining rig surgically mounted to his back. He doesn't need to study because he can break through the school's firewall and change his grades to A's. We keep asking him to change ours too, but he's a Nova-Libertarian, so he thinks if we want it that bad we should do it ourselves.

Klazzz was recruited at age 8 to pilot a mech in the global manhunt for Saddam Hussien. (He'd have to be 900 years old by now at least, but modern medicine is crazy so I dunno.) A bully thinks it's be funny to mimic an explosion sound with his mouth right behind her, and her combat instincts kick in and she vaporizes him and his posse with her arm-mounted neutron cannon. (If anyone tries to remove it from her body, it shuts down her nervous system and then self-destructs, meaning it's classified as a disability aid)(that's why she's allowed to have it in school)

M.I.K.E. is a closeted singularity. He doesn't think anyone knows but he's obviously such a sjklop (slur for AIs) its not even funny. Sometimes I paint captchas on my face so he can't tell its me and then I beat the fuck out of him. I think it's funny.

We realize we all have next period free so we decide to skip class. On the way to our favorite pizza joint we notice a news bulletin being projected onto the sky. Greg (Eternal God-CEO, President, Emperor-Lord, and Judge of the Northern Hemisphere, as well as founder of tech startup Rooblop) is announcing that we're going to nuke Venus, just in case there are aliens there.

We turn around from the news just in time to realize that M.I.K.E.'s pathfinding has malfunctioned and led him into the middle of the street. He's hit by a car and immediately torn to shreds (all cars have sawblades mounted to the front to discourage jaywalking.) The driver doesn't even bat an eye (he's also an AI, his own pathfinding malfunctions a second later and he makes a sharp left turn into a crowded mall.) I save the footage and post it to the cloud. It gains 2 billion views over the next thirty seconds. Ten seconds after that, a rights organization cancels me for glorifying AI murder. On the horizon, I see a drone strike get called in on my Dystopian Megaschool, and I'm glad I skipped class.

We stop at the Dystopian Mega Pizza Shop on the way home. Their pepperoni is guaranteed to only be 90% liquefied high schoolers, and the cookies they sell even have real Khreim! (not to be confused with Cream, Creme, Kreem, Chreamm, or Kchreeighm.) Unfortunately, the entire restaurant is sold out, as the cadre of CopDrones in the corner bought everything edible in the building to fuel their starved appetites. Klazzz throws a disparaging insult in their direction, and in response they shoot Xyrone 87 times in the chest.

I arrive home. My mom is home on her 30 minute break. She's made meatloaf, made with Tomaytoh Soss(tm,) Garlic, Liquid Teenagers, and a whole lot of love. I give her a big hug. She says she has to run, but there's a special birthday treat in the freezer. I open it up to find a whole pint of ice cream waiting for me. My favorite flavor: mint chip.

And you'll never guess what it's made of.

By now you have read about yesterday's “Tesla Protests”. For a good recap of how global and powerful it was, consider reading this Guardian article. People are angry at Musk. Perhaps because he reminds us of Hermann Goering - Hitler’s choice to control the German economy.

And if you don’t think Elon Musk is insane, please read this. If you are receiving Social Security (that you and your employer PAID into for decades!!!) keep an eye on those automatic deposit dates at your bank. There is another word for Musk that starts with an i - incompetent. Musk is no technical genius as popular myth would suggest. He inherited wealth from a racist father and parlayed it into other companies. (Sound familiar?!) He didn't invent Tesla. He bought it. And he benefited from Federal government subsidies that he now decries for others. He built Tesla bigger with OUR help. Read about it here. And to make the hypocrisy even more upsetting - Tesla paid almost zero in taxes over the last three years. 0, Nada, Nothing.

The fact that the demonstrations occurred at almost every Tesla dealership and headquarters suggest that the rebellion has very widespread support. People are pissed off.

The “Deep State” government that Republicans complain about has been holding our society together despite being UNDER STAFFED for decades. The number of Federal employees peaked in 1990 at 3.19 million. The population of the United States in 1990 was about 248 million people. The number of Federal employees by 2023 was 2.93 million The population of the United States in 2023 was about 340 million people.

33 years later…roughly the same number of employees were serving 37% MORE of us. That’s not Deep State bloat. That is employee abuse. But I digress. Next? April 5th! Google it and notice how prominent it is in the search. I think this will be a launch. Of course, nothing we say or do this Saturday will change the minds of the Fascists. The DOGE stooges will still be determined to carry out every detail of Project 2025. They will continue to slaughter our government and ruin the careers of thousands of hard working non-partisan government workers. People who could have made much more money with their educations and skill sets in the private sector. But they have something $Trump and Musks storm troopers can’t fathom. Patriotic dedication to their nation. April 5th is about showing solidarity. This about showing a big push back against an unelected mega billionaire acting like a co-dictator ruining the lives of millions.

April 5th will be big. In hundreds of locations. You can find a demonstration near you via “Hands Off”. I’ll be at a town near me. Multiple organizations like Indivisible are joining in support. And this protest will be global. It looks as if $Trump and Musk are uniting millions - putting the focus on free speech and good governance.

However, somehow, my wife has been receiving White House “notices” which she shares with me. Yesterday’s missive from the Fascists was chilling. Here is the link. The statement established a new “D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force” that can involve every law enforcement entity under the sun - from Homeland Security to the FBI. All to make Washington “safe and beautiful”. Do you think it is a coincidence that this new “Task Force” was established just one week before millions of people may visit our nation’s capital to express their displeasure? $Trump loves big crowds - but only if they are cheering him and laughing at his bullying and his cruel jokes. Don’t be shocked if some “storm troopers” are in evidence. Here is an excerpt from the White House message yesterday: ….facilitate the deployment of a more robust local law enforcement presence as appropriate in areas in or about the District of Columbia, including in such areas as the National Mall and Memorial Parks, museums, monuments, Lafayette Park, Union Station, Rock Creek Park, Anacostia Park, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, the Suitland Parkway, and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, and ensuring that all applicable quality of life, nuisance, and public-safety laws are strictly enforced, such as those prohibiting assault, battery, larceny, graffiti and other vandalism, unpermitted disturbances and demonstrations, noise, trespassing… So, let’s be careful and peaceful - but strong.

It's colorful, queer, and finally here. Trials and tribulations can make the victories all the sweeter, or so we are told. Only it seems there is some proverbial proof in the pudding: #nimona has finally made its way to Netflix after something of a bumpy ride, to put it lightly—and we are here for it. It's been a long time coming, too, with years and years spent in development hell.

Since its inception in June 2015, the film has survived a mega media merger between The Walt Disney Corporation and 20th Century Fox Animation (and delayed twice); in February 2021, one year before its projected release, Disney announced it was shutting down Blue Sky Studios, and production of the film was canceled entirely; it was then revived by Annapurna and Netflix; experienced several changes in creative leadership and a global pandemic (you may have heard of it) and a studio shutdown just as the film was finally coming together.

Now, the story that started life in ND Stevenson's beloved webcomic finally has made its way into silver screen heaven with its arrival on Netflix these past days. And it seems the dashboard's faultlessly loyal, long-time fandom can't get enough of this wild, wonderful, and life-affirming adaption.

Growth from the Grassroots: Brazil’s 21st Indigenous Free Land Camp

Indigenous people and community organizers from across Brazil and the world gathered in the country’s capital, Brasília, to consolidate demands ahead of COP30

Earlier this Earth Month, nearly 10,000 Indigenous leaders and people gathered in Brasília alongside community organizers for the 21st Free Land Camp (Acampamento Terra Livre – ATL), the largest mobilization of Indigenous people in the country – and the world. 

Organized by the Association of Brazil’s Indigenous Peoples (APIB) and its seven regional organizations, this year’s ATL amplified the call of the Indigenous movement: The Answer Is Us.On the path to the historic COP30 to be held in the Brazilian Amazon for the first time later this year, leaders unified demands for land rights, sovereignty, and territorial governance as the most effective strategies to defend the rainforest and our global climate.

We were on the ground at ATL this year, continuing a long legacy of resistance with our Indigenous partners in Brazil. From taking the streets of Brasília alongside our comrades at APIB and the Coordination of Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB) to mobilizing rapid-response resources to Munduruku community members through our Amazon Defenders Fund, our team showed up in material solidarity with the movement. 

To nurture international solidarity against the imminent threats from agribusiness to the sacred waterways of the Tapajós River in the Amazon and its ancestral stewards, Amazon Watch helped organize action against Ferrogrão during the closing ATL march. Designed to transport commodities such as soy and corn to enrich multinational corporations like Cargill rather than to feed the people of Brazil, the mega railway project would cut through Indigenous territories and could deforest up to 49,000 square kilometers in the Brazilian state of Pará, the host of COP30.

Guard Dog AU Lore

Some of this has already be mentioned in my previous lore post and asks, but I've broadened more on the world setting and stuff!

Eventually I'll make another post going into more detail about the story and more about Y/N and Sun/Moon interactions and feelings but this is what I got for now!

I'll put it under the cut since it's a little lengthy!

The AU is futuristic and has a lot of Biopunk/Cyberpunk dystopian overtones, with technology that is more advanced than today’s modern technology. Despite its advances there is a lot of societal unrest. The general public is suffering because of how capitalistic its society has become and mega-corporations basically run the world. 

Most cities are a very dense concrete jungle, with neon lights and hologram ads everywhere.

A major branch of technology and scientific research has made a lot of progress using robotics and DNA for creature creation. Their ultimate goal is to create super-soldiers for military and authoritarian use. To help rapidly grow their department and data, they’ve teamed up with mega corporations and other research facilities globally, and have allowed them access to their base data findings for their own use to so that they can explore and discover more ways to broaden their projects. It has been several years at this point since this decision has been made and many new methods have cropped up since. 

Most of these creatures vary in shape, size (though most are much larger than humans), and theme, and also vary on how much of them is a blend of organic and robotic augmentations. To everyone they are simply known as ‘Creatures’ and don’t have an official name. Most of them are sentient and intelligent enough (levels of intelligence vary between them, though none are made to be super intelligent) but overall they retain an underlying feral nature. This way it's easier for them to fight each other without question of ethics between them and easier in some ways to control, so them being more animalistic is by design.  

By allowing companies to invest and create within the scientific branch, they’ve come up with a way to capitalize on it for entertainment purposes, further funding their research and lining their pockets with more money. They have created a new form of entertainment which is ‘Creature Cage Fights’ or better known as its official league name CFE (Creature Fighting Entertainment). Similar to wrestling and illegal animal fighting, these creatures are pitted against each other to fight within large stadiums and whomever knocks out their opponent, or renders them unable to continue the fight, wins. CFE is the main umbrella league and places globally are able to form their own mini-leagues under CFE. 

People are able to spectate in person or television and have the ability to place official bets (similar to horse racing). This idea of making them for entertainment allows these creatures to be normalized to the public and for further studying their fighting capabilities to gather research. Companies and people of wealth have also taken to sponsoring or hosting fights to make a profit.

There are ‘Death Matches’ where creatures must fight until either one (or both) die. These kinds of fights are deemed ‘illegal’ and not televised, yet the police and higher people of authority turn a blind eye and allow them. Death matches are typically hosted by the rich and tickets are sold to other rich people to spectate and place bets. These fights are really only used as a way to make money, profits being split between the hosts and companies who lend their creatures out to these fights. 

Fazbear Entertainment, like many other companies all over the world, have joined the scientific branch to get in on this new form of entertainment that’s rapidly growing in popularity globally with people of all ages and cash in on big profits. So far FazCo has made several creatures of their own. These include: Freddy, Chica, Roxy, Monty, and Sun & Moon. 

Sun and Moon, who are more heavily robotically augmented (though still partially organic) compared to the others, are unique in that they are dual AI who both share a body and a ‘brain’. Being able to seamlessly switch between the two and both having their own preferred fighting style. Both AI can come together to create a third form, Eclipse, which has a different fighting style than their own individual ones. Instead of creating a new separate AI or ‘person’ when this happens, this form is instead both AI simultaneously co-piloting the mind and body together. 

The idea of their creation was to have a creature that is able to have multiple different fighting styles and able to switch between them to keep their opponent unaware and on their toes. This feature is actually a huge secret that Fazco has been keeping. The public and other fighters are completely unaware that they are dual AI, as all of their marketing and paperwork is labeled ‘one entity’ named Eclipse. 

The only way to tell which is which is their eyes changing color and the differences in demeanor. When Sun is in control, both eyes are white. He comes off more playful and upbeat, almost ‘puppy-like’. He’s also more excitable and has a seemingly endless amount of energy. When Moon is in control both eyes turn red. He’s more laid back and less energetic. He’d rather be a gremlin and chill (maybe take a nap) than bound all over the place like his counterpart. When both AI come together to become Eclipse, the left eye is white and the right eye is red. Eclipse has a blend of both of their personalities harmonizing into one. 

In a fight Sun, Moon, and Eclipse are completely different in how they act compared to how they are in their downtime. Sun is more performative and wants to make the fight into a spectacle and woo the crowd, taunting his opponent and making them into a joke. He much prefers it than actually fighting while Moon is the opposite.. Moon is more violent and bloodthirsty when he fights, rather than playing around. Eclipse, while they do show off and taunt to an extent, they’re more calm and cunning, fighting efficiently with heavy hits to end the fight quickly. 

The major underlying fact no matter what situation they’re in, is there will always be that feral blood-lust fight/kill instinct at play in the back of their mind. Both are more than capable of killing if they want or need (human or creature a-like), and its ferocity shows whenever they’re irritable, angry, or upset. 

To satiate the general public and quell their fear of public safety when it comes to creatures, CFE decided to officially give these creatures ‘handlers’. One to two fellow humans who help train them, bond with them, accompany them at all times, and ‘keep a leash’ on them to show that they are under control.

The job of a ‘Handler’ is a dangerous one (and the fatality rate is high, unbeknownst to the public) but it also has its perks that make it all that more tempting. The pay is well above blue-collar average, with all-expenses-paid for traveling, hotels, and other miscellaneous job related things. There’s the obvious spotlight of being a creature handler to a successful championship winner that also has its perks, though it’s not too uncommon for some handlers to avoid it as much as they’re able to.   

FazCo is based in a large underground facility on the outskirts of a city where their research development and creatures are kept, the building being under heavy surveillance. Handlers are required to live in a section of private living quarters on-site, though they’re able to leave the facility at any time and must be chaperoned in order to do so. This acts as an extra precaution in case of any information leaks. Handlers are also on-call 24/7 and can be flown out anywhere globally at a moments notice, so having them live at the facility makes it easier. 

At FazCo handlers have a few job requirements such as training and ‘bonding’ with their creature for a certain amount of time per week or preparing for upcoming matches through supervised fighting simulations. Having a handler that is able to keep a creature under control (with whatever means necessary) and making sure both perform their best during matches is the highest priority.

Y/N, having grown up poor their whole life in a bad neighborhood with nothing to lose, jumps on the opportunity of a newly listed ‘Handler’ job. A quick successful interview has them sign a very hefty NDA contract with FazCo and from there they’re immediately moved to the facility. They’re told that the previous handler had quit (though the truth is they were killed) so FazCo was looking for someone new to assign to Eclipse.

Y/N is actually unsure of how to feel when they first meet Eclipse. There’s excitement and awe but there’s also the growing fear in their gut that Eclipse may be too much to handle for them. The pay and job perks with a comfy living situation is really the only thing keeping them there at first. 

Sun/Moon/Eclipse are capable of simple speech, small one word answers and short sentences, and have a general understanding of what’s being said or going on around them. However they aren’t very trained to be aware of their strength or how fragile a human can be so they are more dangerous than other creatures. They have killed multiple handlers in the past through aggression or ignorance.

Pokemon announces collaboration with LEGO!

For years fans of Pokemon and LEGO have dreamed of a collaboration between the two, the closest we got at any point were custom builds or the sets that MEGA had to offer. Well, in the past few minutes an official announcement has been made by The Pokemon Company has been released stating that in 2026 we will see LEGO Pokemon begin to hit the shelves!

They've been incredibly under wraps about this, with information trickling in that was first seen on Reddit this morning. This opens up so many avenues for both Pokemon and LEGO, with an abundance of sets that can be created from all 1000+ Pokemon to locations across all the Regions (such as Pokemon Centres, Gyms and iconic locations). The one thing we do know is that the first set to be released is likely going to be Pikachu, implied heavily by the imagery they've released so far.

Not only that, but as LEGO have released a multitude of LEGO-themed video games, does this mean that we'll see a LEGO Pokemon game in the future? Forget a Black & White remake, imagine the OG Pokemon games reinvented brick by digital brick! Both LEGO and Pokemon released a statement regarding their collaboration, which can be read below:

It's shocking that this wasn't announced on Pokemon Day, as this would have made the 29th anniversary of the global hit a lot more impactful - but perhaps they are saving more reveals down the line for next year's Pokemon Day. Five years ago, Jack Ma was not just one of the world’s richest billionaires, but also—perhaps only after President Xi Jinping—the most famous Chinese person in the world.

In the early aughts, Ma built a business empire around his company, Alibaba, which quickly took off as an online shopping juggernaut that first challenged and then outsold Amazon in China, all while branching out into countless other services. For millions of young Chinese people, Ma was their country’s answer to Bill Gates: Ma, a former English teacher, was a self-made man whose example seemed to illustrate the sky-high achievement and wealth that one could attain through a combination of entrepreneurial vision and relentless drive.

In China, Ma was in constant demand, the subject of numerous films and TV shows, while overseas, he became a kind of unofficial face of his country. He operated his own philanthropic organization, paying special attention to Africa just as China was becoming the continent’s leading global partner. He took star turns at Davos. And he bought the struggling English-language Hong Kong newspaper, the South China Morning Post, evincing a willingness to risk losing a great deal of money to revive an old publication with British colonial-era roots and turn it into a globally respected, Chinese-owned news operation.

Then, in 2020, on the eve of what was expected to be one of the biggest initial public offerings (IPOs) in history, Ma’s world was turned upside down as his empire became the target of hostile regulatory actions from the Chinese Communist Party. Authorities canceled the IPO of Ma’s Ant Group (an Alibaba affiliate), levied anti-monopoly actions against his businesses and those of other tech giants, and summoned Ma for hostile lectures and questioning.

Soon, the man who once seemed to be everywhere was scarcely seen at all. To avoid further trouble, without fanfare, he reportedly slipped away to live in a kind of exile in Japan.

In certain ways, Ma’s story is a uniquely Chinese one. It demonstrates the Communist Party’s obsession with control, as the party has long worked to prevent the emergence of a fully independent private sector in China. It is also part of the saga of Xi, who has worked hard to concentrate power in his own hands and who brooks no rivals in public attention and adulation.

Yet the humbling of Ma—and an entire class of other newly minted, mega-rich tech entrepreneurs in China—also speaks profoundly to political developments in the United States surrounding President Donald Trump’s reconquest of power after four years out of office.

In bringing this new class of business titans to heel, China’s leaders made a carefully considered strategic decision about the direction of their country’s political economy. In effect, they were saying that Beijing would never grant a dominant role to the extraordinarily lucrative and freewheeling private technology sector. Put slightly differently, that sector would have no sacred cows and would never be allowed to cast a shadow on the party and state.

In the emerging Trump regime, we are seeing just the opposite. The administration is a collection of billionaires that almost mindlessly celebrates wealth. On his first full day in office, for example, Trump gathered in the White House with two of the world’s richest men—Larry Ellison of Oracle and Masayoshi Son of Softbank—along with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to salute the launch of a new project called Stargate, billed as a $500 billion joint venture to build artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Trump’s explanation for why this merited his support was almost childishly vapid. “AI seems to be very hot,” he said. “It seems to be the thing that a lot of smart people are looking at very strongly.”

So far, few details about the project are known. But as Washington Post coverage suggests, the companies investing vast amounts of money in AI are almost giddy that, unlike the Biden administration, the new White House seems willing to largely let the tech giants make up their own rules as free from regulation as possible.

The centrality of tech titans to Trump’s ambitions is, of course, best captured by one man: Elon Musk. Many of the richest and most powerful U.S. businesspeople were on hand for—and helped fund—Trump’s inauguration festivities, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. But it is Musk who has dominated the scene ever since Trump tapped him to help downsize the government and streamline regulations outside of any traditional institutional framework.

To say that this invites concerns about conflicts of interest doesn’t begin to capture the extraordinary partnership between Musk and Trump. In contrast with Xi’s China, Musk and big tech capital are rubbing out the lines between business and the state.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Musk, has now officially become part of the U.S. government. Originally, DOGE was set to be co-led by Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. But as the Post reported, their visions for the organization diverged—and Musk’s prevailed. Whereas Ramaswamy favored an approach based on legal strategies and a mastery of regulatory arcana, Musk seeks to place technology at the center of streamlining efforts.

Musk built his world-beating fortune through technology. It would not be unreasonable to expect that the access he gains to government data while working for Trump and the tech tools that he chooses to pursue will profit him immensely. On Inauguration Day, Musk even promoted his aspiration of landing humans on Mars—a long-held goal for his company SpaceX—as a national project, saying, “We’re going to take DOGE to Mars.”

The following day, Musk, seemingly unafraid of Trump’s ire, rushed to cast doubt on the Stargate venture. As in so much other technology, Musk is a player in AI, too, and one can readily imagine that knocking Stargate was a way to further his own interests.

China has not reined in its tech sector out of any belief in democracy, but rather through a seeming understanding that the new forces of wealth, data, intelligence, information, commerce, and communications can hijack a country’s political system and lead it into dangerously uncharted territory.

Trump, who betrays little technical sophistication, has done the opposite, as he has embraced the big tech sector and celebrated its wealthiest. If this is not challenged, the world might one day look back at this time as the moment when the U.S. state was captured.

Amelia Dickson/Mega Mom- She doesn't remember much of her mom during her time at the orphanage but heard from Chad and Brynlee that she can go a bit overboard when giving her kids affection and can be downright embarrassing when attending school plays,sports games, or around their friends. She found her to be pretty strict when it comes to school grades and keeping the house clean but overtime she started to step back a little when the sibs are in their mid teens.

Arthur Dickson/Destructo Dad- Her Dad is known as the fun parent who cracks a lot of Dad jokes, which Skye loves to join in on. She secretly gets along more with him than her mom and finds out they both act almost alike. Skye loves that she has a parent to talk to and be herself around (and to have a test subject for a few inventions)

Benjamin Beaumont- Its still a mystery for Skye never hearing about her uncle and only knows that he's mom's twin brother. Whenever Skye mentions him, Amelia instantly changes the subject or starts to get angry but either way it was weird. She asked her dad about it and he hesitantly mentions that Benjamin is a hermited inventor and that Ben and Amelia got into a huge fight when they were teens during their parents divorce and haven't spoke since. Nobody knows his whereabouts but assumes he still lives in France where he was born.

Chad Dickson- During when her memory of him was wiped, Skye saw Chad as an enemy and a traitor like everyone else in the KND. She would pull as many pranks on him when she got the chance, especially during the times she visited Brynlee. When getting her memories back, she instantly felt horrible and guilty for the way she treated her older brother and tried to find ways to make it up to him until he instantly forgave her. Their the type of siblings to constantly mess with each other and try to annoy the other (which Skye doesn't most of). They can count on each other whenever one of them gets into trouble and not to rat each other out to their parents. Chad is known to get overworked so Skye is the one to pry him away from studies or missions and make him take care of himself, same with Skye and staying up working on projects.

•Brynlee Dickson- Even when losing her memories, the two instantly got along when reuniting in cadet training. Skye always begged Numbuh 1 to arrange both sectors to go on missions together, but unfortunately that's only for emergencies. When regaining their memories, they became even more inseparable and started taking back the time they were apart and filling it with more positive memories. Out of the two, Skye seems to be the most protective and sometimes even turning into a mother hen whenever Bryn gets injured during a mission or dealing with jerks. Like most twins, they know what the other is feeling and is in danger, also can unintentionally speak in unison.

Jet Dickson- Skye and Jet have been through a lot together and sadly know more about each other than their siblings. They can also be the type of siblings to bicker and get on each other's nerves but almost instantly make up like nothing happened. They both have ptsd from the orphanage with Jet having severe paranoia, so when something is triggered, they know how to calm the other down. They can sometimes get into dramatic arguments over the smallest things, but its mostly fake and do it just to be funny.

Numbuh 1/Nigel- Skye respects him as a leader and a sectormate. She admires his loyalty to the KND and his team, and knows to always count on him. Whenever they are the only two at the tree house or on a mission together, they usually go to the moonbase to hang out especially on meatball sub wensday. Sometimes people assume that their dating at first sight, but unfortunately Skye has feelings for Numbuh 2 and Nigel being with Lizzy (before the series ends)

Numbuh 3- Despite the two having opposite personalities, they still got along really well. Skye doesn't mind playing tea parties with her but will only fill in if someone else won't to not hurt her feelings. Unlike Numbuh 4, Skye never acts rude around her or call her interests "cruddy" or "stupid" and instead tries to like things she likes to give them a chance and vice versa.

Numbuh 4- Skye is basically his partner in crime right next to Numbuh 2. They like causing trouble together and plan pranks on adults and teenagers. They work very well together in missions despite they usually attack first before planning. She usually forgets to think before acting when around him and becomes reckless and a lot more rowdy.

Numbuh 5- Skye knows to come to her when she wants to chill out. She enjoys going on candy hunts and bringing back truck loads of candy for the team. At times they can get competitive with each other and have friendly challenges such as finding out who can eat more candy under a minute or a soda chugging challenge. They also share a similar incident involving weredogs have been bitten by one.

Numbuh 60- Skye respects him as a higher rank than she is but also wants him to lighten up a little and drags him to have fun with either her siblings or with her sector. They are opposites between strict and workaholic to fun and laid-back which is why Skye usually gets on his nerves. Patton use to be awkward on dates with Brynlee and had Skye as a secret wing-girl until he got more confident with dating.

Numbuh 362- Highly looks up to her as the soopreme leader and greatly admires her leadership. When Rachel also started dating Brynlee, Skye was shocked at first but was really happy and supportive about the news.

Numbuh 86- Skye has a record for the times Fanny screamed her ears off for damaging global airships or crashing them into the moonbase. Skye gets on her bad side without meaning to, so she's one of the very few girls Numbuh 86 yells at. However, they got a chance to bond at Fanny's slumber party and officially became friends.

Antonio Fizzuras/ Ace the kid- Skye was a bit standoffish towards him from hearing about shooting down Numbuh 2's aircraft and disliked it whenever he was flirting with Numbuh 3. They became huge rivals and Ace seems to get Skye furious enough to want to challenge him to air battles. It takes a while for Skye to eventually start to warm up to him but they still remain extremely competitive with each other.

Dustin Rosewood- She became fond of Dustin when Chad introduced him as his boyfriend and thinks him and her brother make a good match. She loves how his cheerfulness is contagious and knows it makes Chad the happiest out of them. Skye also loves to make jokes about them followed by a few mature ones to annoy the hell out of Chad while Dustin hides his face in his hoodie.

Justin Cavallero- Use to see him as an enemy for being a teen ninja and despised him after finding out he was using Chad while they were dating. When he and Chad got back together and now in a poly relationship with Dustin, it took Skye a couple of months to fully trust him.

Enemies

Madame Rouge- Skye will forever hate her for separating her family and leaving scars on her and Jet. She sees Rouge as nothing but a heartless monster for her time at the orphanage, having severe ptsd whenever going near the place despite it now being abandoned.

•Natalie Keller- Skye saw her as a big nuisance during cadet training and picked a fight whenever Brynlee was being bullied by her. Was determined to score a higher rank than her to prove herself.

•Jacob/Numbuh 211- Skye always gets furious whenever she sees him, wanting to wipe the smug look on his face when bullying her sister and Sector V. She feels the need to defend those who ever interact with him, feeling a bit on edge.

Love Interest(s)

Numbuh 2- Due to her huge crush on the flyboy, Skye is usually more loving towards him and will occasionally flirt by using pick up lines when no one else is around. The two share a love for jokes and aircraft, and usually go out for chilidogs. She loves his charming and kind nature and the fact that he easily makes her laugh. Although he tries to charm up other girls, She can thank Numbuh 5 for literally smacking him out of it. They love collaborating with each other when working on machines to test them out.

BIO

On the night of her and her sister's 5th birthday, Skye along with her 3 year old brother, Jet, were taken from their house and woke up in what they were told was an orphanage, which was named Forever Home, with no memories of their family or even their last names. The lady who was running the place was named Rouge Adderson but strictly wanted to be addressed as Madame Rouge and lied to the two siblings informing that their parents were reported to have died and will now be residing at Forever Home until the age of 18. When Skye asked about her last name, Jet blurted out "Rocket" while pointing to a space rocket drawing on the wall, giving them their new names: Skye and Jet Rocket.

The next eight years were like a living hell for Skye, having to deal with Madame Rouge's abuse and intense study sessions. Her arms and face were marked by scratches and tiny scars for having to receive discipline after standing up for her brother or making a small mistake. She also had a fresh injury on her left side going up a bit towards her rib after making the mistake of lashing out of anger towards Madame Rouge for striking Jet and got the feeling of claw like nails scrape across her side, which was intended to cross her face but missed when Skye tried to dodge. One night, Skye overheard her roommates planning an escape and took the opportunity for her and her brother to be apart of it, swearing not to tell anyone else along with agreeing to sneak them candy until they're free.

On the night of the escape, 8 year old Skye snuck out of the room with a now 6 year old Jet and sent him with the others while she checked if Madame Rouge was asleep. Madame Rouge was asleep and all looked according to plan until she remembered the box of necklaces inside Rouge's nightstand on the day Skye snooped inside to find more information about her parents and accidentally found the box instead. Quickly, Skye grabbed the box and left to meet up with the kids while hiding it underneath her pajama shirt. The leader of the escapist was a girl named Sarah and led them down into the basement to escape through a small window which was surrounded by kids Skye never seen before and wearing cooking pots, baking sheets, sand pales and other stuff to look like armor with numbers and the letters KND painted on their "helmets" and "chestplates".

Despite meeting these strangers, Skye knew they were sent to help them escape. Before anyone could get away, the door slammed open and out flowed a number of security and women who Skye recognized a few who are her study tutors and lastly Madame Rouge, making the kids hearts stop while frozen in place while shielded by the KND operatives aiming their weapons. After Rouge furiously yelled out an order, a fight broke out, and most of the operatives were taken down from being outnumbered. Soon enough, some of the escapists were captured as well, leaving Sarah, Skye, and Jet the only kids to fend for themselves. Sarah grabbed hold of both their hands and made a run for the open window with Rouge closing in. Jet was the first to go out, and Skye followed behind, only to look back and witness Sarah being captured. A KND air ship was waiting outside for them and were taken to the moonbase to be checked and treated for any injuries for their first moments of freedom.

2 years later, Skye, age 10, is now a member of Sector V with her codename, Numbuh 7, and worked alongside Numbuh 2 as a 2x4 tech officer and pilot. Jet, age 8½, wasn't assigned a Sector and is instead a floating operative as a detective and journalist and is sent to sectors when on detective duty. During the night they sleep in Skye's room at the treehouse ever since their escape and were well taken care of for staying 2 years in a treehouse. Skye also has a best friend, Brynlee Dickson/Numbuh 205, when in cadet training while still blocked by the truth of who she truly is. One summer, Numbuh 1-love was hosting a summer party at Sector J with every sector being invited. The summer party was only the beginning for them, being the most eventful summer of their lives.

It wasn't until Madame Rouge started helping the adults make a mind control device that'll take down the entire kids next door, that all sectors were ordered by Numbuh 362 to station at Forever Home for a war between kids and adults. Chad tagged along with Skye, Bryn, and Jet to help them in the fight while secretly calling some TND operatives to help on the sidelines. During the last days of summer, Madame Rouge was finally defeated, and her body retreated into one of the necklaces, trapping her inside. Once she was contained, the necklace began to glow and got brighter by the second until releasing a red flash causing Skye,Jet,Brynlee, and Chad's eyes to flash between blue and red until finally ending at a bright blue before going back to normal. Slowly, their memories start coming back, revealing the truth about them being long-lost siblings to each other. After that, the family catches up on lost time, slowly turning whole again.
