i fucking hate r/glowuptips. it’s a small sub, but one of the worst i’ve seen. it’s filled with girls (mainly young ones, 18-25) taking pictures and asking how they can glow up. and then the commenters are either women about their age or a little older giving them actual tips or men that seem much older saying some dumb shit.
their comments range from “…bangs?” or “maybe hit the gym” to “maybe stop selling your body” or “take off your bra.” and no, i didn’t create any of those comments for the sake of this post. i just find it funny how the men on there are clearly the “i hate it when women are sexual with their body but i hate it when women aren’t sexual with their body” type of men.
oh, and there are guys on the sub asking for advice. but their posts are generally less popular. the best advice i saw was “hit the gym more. your results aren’t that noticeable.” and the worst i’ve seen is “nose job”, “stop being desperate,” “just make more money. hot women only care about money,” “try to find a woman as goofy as you.” (i like the last two because this is from a sub called r/glowuptips, not r/aguidetogettingagirl)
anyway. the comments are kind of okay. but if you’re on that sub, you’re definitely insecure in some way. and i’m sure that a weird dude telling you to “stop selling your body” or “stop being desperate” is… probably not helpful. and you know you’re doing something wrong when i’d rather go to pinterest for advice before going to people that actually have advice other than ‘drink water’.

“Glow Up Challenge? I thought that was puberty doing all the work...”
If you ever heard of people or the phrase “glowing up”, then you probably heard of the Glow Up challenge. Sometimes, puberty can make us look 1,000 times better. But in some cases, puberty can really screw you over and make you look worst than you originally looked like. To change that, you have to get rid of your flaws to make yourself look beautiful.
“How can I do that?”
To change yourself, here’s some things to remember...
You have to be motivated - If you’re not motivated to do it, then you will keep slacking off and preventing yourself from seeing desired results.
You need to watch what you eat. - If you don’t watch what you eat, you can gain unnecessary weight and it could be a reason to your skin problems.
You need to keep track of your progress. - If you don’t keep track of your progress, then how will you know if you made progress at all.
You have to set goals for yourself. - If you don’t set goals, then you will end up staying off task and won’t get any results.
You need to have patience. - If you can’t wait for results, then you’re going to stress yourself out about not seeing any progress.
“I kept these quotes in mind, what now?”
Now that you know what to do, you now have to put them in action.
You need to eat healthy. - This is common knowledge. Eating healthy helps you in the long run. Remember to eat 1,200 - 1,500 calories a day. Also, tea, vitamins and supplements can help with some health issues.
Sleep for 8 hours a day, if you can. - I know most people can’t sleep 8 hours a day because of school or a job or if they’re doing both plus other responsibilities. But, even 5 hours is okay. As long as you have enough time to rest for you to function properly.
Exercise. - You don’t have to do those hardcore exercises. Even just walking around your neighborhood for 30 minutes can be helpful and is considered exercise. Also, don’t hesitate to use home workouts from YouTube. There’s channels like Lumowell that require little workout equipment.
Hygiene, hygiene, hygiene. - Take a shower twice a day instead of once. Brush your teeth more often. Change your hair. Use natural or little to no makeup. Have a skincare routine. Change your nails. These will help your skin glowing in months after you take care of your skin.
Make time for yourself. - Go meditate for 10 minutes. Spend time with nature more. Don’t involve yourself in drama. Take some time off of social media. Catch up on your favorite shows. Read a book. Do some chores. Go see a therapist for you current issues. These will make your time productive while making some time to yourself.
Learn to love yourself. - While you’re making all these changes, remember to love yourself. I know it’s hard, but try. It will help with your self-esteem in the long run.
Get a planner/diary. - Use a planner or a diary to keep track of your progress. A notebook is also fine to use.
If you deal with any issues, then you should go see somebody. - If that means you deal with family issues (divorce, abuse, addiction, etc.) or friend issues or even mental issues and health conditions, you should talk to somebody. If that means you have to talk to somebody online anonymously or to a therapist or doctor then do so. It helps having someone know what you’re going through and helping you solve your problems, especially a certified professional.
“Thanks for the tip, but isn’t this what most people tell you when you’re trying to stay healthy?”
Yes, basically.
But, the thing is people don’t really follow them. Also, people think that crash diets help them achieve their goals faster. But in reality, it’s causing them eating disorders. It all depends on how people take the advice.

I know you've heard me praise the powers of turmeric in skincare many times before. Well, here I go again... Cocokind's Turmeric Tonic (not actually a tonic in the usual sense, it's a spot treatment) brightens with the powers of Organic Turmeric Extract. It's easy to apply. Application is mess free, even on the go due to the roll on applicator tip. It also contains Organic Tea Tree Oil which is antibacterial and works great on acne and various other skin ailments. Broccoli Seed Oil delivers vitamins and beta-carotene. The Chia bounce Mask is one of the newest @cocokind products. Check my stories this weekend. I will be masking with it, sharing my experience, and first impressions. You'll be able to see the texture and results. If the use of conventional Retinol makes you apprehensive, give their resurfacing sleep mask a try. It's an overnight treatment with a plant based Retinol alternative called Bakuchiol. Bakuchiol is more gentle, especially to those who experience skin sensitivity. The soothing oats with beta-glucan calm the skin. This ingredient is amazing for eczema, and dry itchy skin. It will also help ease those seasonal skin changes that you may experience. Squalane is increasingly appearing in skincare products, and I love it. Squalane is a moisturizing ingredient that is similar to Squalene. Squalene is naturally produced by your skin. This makes it suitable for pretty much everyone, and your skin relishes every drop of it. *Gifted @cocokindcollective #cocokind #cocokindcollective #skincarethreads #cocokindskincare #skincare101 #skincarethread #skincarecollection #plantbasedproducts #skincarediary #plantpowered #squalene #squalane #skincareeducation #skincareglowing #glowup #glowuptips #teatreeoil #bakuchiol #chiabounce #resurfacingtreatment #chiaseed #Niacinamide #spirulina #organicskincare #turmerictonic #turmericskincare #brighteningskincare #betaglucan #organicallyderived (at New York City, NY) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcI_7AGpZZB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
