Google Cloud Storage | Filestack
Google Cloud Storage is a scalable and highly available object storage service provided by Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It allows individuals and organizations to store and manage data in the cloud. Google Cloud Storage is designed to be reliable, cost-effective, and easy to use, making it suitable for a wide range of use cases, including data backup, archival storage, content distribution, and serving as a data lake for analytics.

I'm really into the fanon Vs comic reader poll but putting aside the current results. I'm so perplexed by the amount of people using '.... But comics are expensive' as an excuse. Do they not know about the massive free online archives? There are thousands of comics you can only read because they're in there
It gets sort of hairy with this one because accessibility is a genuine wall for some people, and that wall sometimes really rooted in being illiterate with technology.
Comic hosting sites like [redacted] are generally unusable without an ad-blocker and there is population of people that simply don't know how to implement one - either on a computer, laptop, tablet or a phone. They just don't know how.
Some people genuinely cannot get these ad-blockers on their device because it might be school equipment or are their parents/partners or even an abusers and as such even if they wanted to put one on, they can't.
Some people cannot READ comics on a small screen like a phone, but they do not have any other device for which to read comics - this is one of the bigger prevailing things stopping a lot of people from seeking comic archives out. They cannot access the site on their phone easily either without said ad-blocker which these two in combination just makes it too complicated.
Yes, some people might not even be AWARE of comic sites at all and just feel uncomfortable using them when they find out.
Not knowing what resources are out there and how to get them is a real issue that a lot of people struggle with and it is only getting worse as tech literacy and internet navigation skills dwindle.
If you are reading this now - I really do implore you to get more familiar with using the internet - not apps, and learn how to use a computer if you only ever used tablets and phones growing up.
If I have to teach someone who is only 5 years younger than me how to make a new folder on the computer and how to rename a file, I am going to lose my mind. Some of you guys are at the same level that 70 year olds were back when I was in highschool and we ran a free computer class to teach them computer basics, and it's not your fault.

With Google having Labs AI in beta, they're pretty much about to scrap data from people's personal cloud storage without needing their consent, and that includes Google Docs. Even if it's not 100% certain, the possibility remains, and that's not good. That also means that even if people locked their fanfictions on AO3, AI can still find a way to scrap them if they haven't already.
OneDrive is still viable for the moment but it's only a matter of time before Microsoft tries their hand at AI themselves.
TL;DR someone on Tiktok mentioned Next Cloud as an alternative. It's free unless you want bigger storage and is open source, which means everyone has access to its codes. Otherwise there's Teams and Dropbox.
Also LibreOffice is a free alternative to Microsoft Word. I can update with a list for different platforms if people are interested.

need to shell out for a new laptop before the end of the year - for a lot of reasons but mainly bc support ending for win8.1 makes fixing the current beast rather pointless :/ (and. admittedly. there is a lot to fix. she's old and she has suffered.)
but my current beastie is from the last gen of laptops with a disc drive and the thought of using an external/usb disc drive is enough to make me cry tears of blood
#really though it is time to upgrade#and i hate to say it because she /runs/ fine it's all hardware issues w parts that can absolutely be replaced#but if i can't use it to run the programs i need then shelling out the money for those parts would ultimately be a waste#but also the fact that this machine that runs fine is no longer worth fixing bc some google-based bullshit just won't support win8.1 anymor#is ALSO a fucking waste & a pile of planned obsolescence bullshit! and i hate it!#but uh. even though she runs fine and she totally does. she does need. uh.#new keyboard (only 1/3 of keys work; currently use usb keyboard)#new trackpad ribbon cable (trackpad does not currently work; using external usb mouse)#new power button and connecting ribbon cable (turning it on involves opening it up and causing an intentional short-circuit every time.)#(a problem largely solved by simply never turning her completely off- except she also needs)#a new battery (current battery does not charge at all; machine needs to be constantly plugged in or it shuts down immediately)#...ok i might be the 'this is fine' dog about this#but i am still upset! that i will no longer have a disc drive inside my damn laptop.#that's the disc drive's natural habitat; that's where it should be; it's weird and offputting to have it connected via usb!#ack. why do tech companies fuck everything up.#and that's without getting into the way new devices offer less harddrive space so people will use the fucking cloud or whatever???#yeah sorry no i'm not using your goddamn data mining corporate off-site storage i want to keep my shit on my own goddamn machine#go to actual hell if you're trying to sell me a pc with less than at least 500GB of storage i swear to fuck#...in essence you could say the whole process is leaving me rather grumpy

Got a warning my Google storage space is running out
Delete a whole bunch of files from Drive, empty inbox, empty trash etc.
Disable auto backup just in case
Now I've got LESS space left than when I started
Conclusion: Google storage is a fucking lie

How is cloud computing different from traditional computing?
What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is a term that refers to the use of internet-based services for applications, storage, or processing power. It does not refer to any specific technology or service. , but instead refers to the concept of a software-defined, managed, cloud-based system.
This type of computing can be either Public (e.g., Google Docs) or Private (e.g., Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud).
How can you learn cloud computing?
A college degree is one way to learn cloud computing, but there are many other ways to learn as well. For example, you can work with an IT company or app developer that specializes in this field. You can also take a course at an educational institution or look into an online course from websites like QwikSkills.
Some Benefits of cloud computing:
Flexibility: Users can access their data from anywhere with an internet connection. This means that they are able to work from home, on the go, etc without having to worry about maintaining their own hardware and software infrastructure.
Lower costs: The cost savings realized by taking advantage of public cloud services such as AWS are significant because companies do not need to maintain their own physical servers and run their own electricity bills at a data center which would otherwise be necessary in traditional computing.
