I get hating certain political systems and trying to abolish totalitarian regimes but at the same time many of them are so interwoven with our history and society they have become tropes and when I consume media with a setting where the monarchy is absolute and revered then I am playing my part and sucking that princeling off

#litchi.txt #there are games that address this kinda stuff! and thats good! its good that there are games talking about how this is bad!#but at the same time when I go into a game knowing I will be the prince's sword and shield I dont expect the game to be anti-monarchy #despite having pretty strong opinions on many a thing I tend to put most of them away the moment I engage with media #imperialism bad. monarchy bad. doesnt mean I cant enjoy roleplaying in a game where I help these systems #because guess what its fictional and not everything needs to be a strong statement about politics #sometimes we just... wanna vibe with a setting #I am so very thoroughly exhausted from the politics in this country and where things are going I just kinda need that no brainer gameplay #even if it means working as the secret police for an emperor #even if it means replacing one dictator with another #because its still a game #a lot of people talk about imperialism-monarchy-colonialism with these things because they are a big issue even today #and they are important to talk about!! in real world!!#but I rarely see people be this upset about like religion etc which like. thats also a massive problem.#idk Im just tired of trying to look at fanart of all my fantasy medieval games and people being upset that the games #are not super anti-monarchy despite the marketing being literally 'you are the emperor's bestie. you help him out and go on a quest.'#'your quest is to manipulate local government to support the emperor and do his bidding'#like idk how That is supposed to be a game that addresses it properly #and maybe it does but ig since the MC doesnt look at the player and go REMEMBER KIDS! #ask #anon #anon i grew up with the n64 #so like. not much different? i wouldnt have TTYD or Sunshine or Luigis Mansion #but like. around the time of the gamecube. my family had the n64. ps1. ps2.#id still have played battle for bikini bottom because i had it on PS2 first #we also had a few other consoles but i dont have a proper memory of which my brothers owned. were sold. or were borrowed #because we had a dreamcast. i played sonic adventure 1 (appearently got to the casino. i remember the ring shaker)#we had an SNES at one point. played mario world and donkey kong country 1 #we had a sega genesis momentarily before we moved around the time i was 5 #i remember playing aladin. mortal kombat (dont know which one) and a garfield 2D platformer that had a haunted mansion level #or something #but the dreamcast. genesis and... maybe the snes. we had those before the gamecube #with the n64 my main games were mario 64. banjo kazooie. and banjo tooie. and mario kart and mario party 2 #ive still got almost all of my old n64 games. im missing my copy of toy story 2 and smash 64 #my brothers owned metroid prime 1 & 2 for the gamecube so. i wouldnt have had that i guess.#iirc i got the gamecube for easter one year. i say iirc because i remember specifically getting Mario Sunshine #and the gamecube mightve been paired with it but i was specifically excited for mario sunshine #i woke up to follow like. a trail of starburst into the basement (its our secondary living room) to find the game and console... i think #so i forever associate Sunshine with starburst. idk if it was intentional or not.#starburst fits really well for the few times that colourful goop pattern is used. like at the very start of the game #anyway anon you couldve just asked what wouldve happened if i didnt have a gamecube. no need for the violence.#also the gamecube itself plays a very small role in my childhood. like in comparison to the PS2 games that came and went in my household #anyway. thank you anon for the ask. i think.

(one of) my dream games is a super ultrarealistic city-building game and it's (ideally, though unrealistically) set in america or at least in major american cities.

and i mean extremely ultrarealistic. cities: skylines is like dumb as fuck arcade shit compared to what i want. it may as well be townscaper.

i want it to be detailed enough that it's used by actually irl city planners to simulate their building projects. i wanna be taking soil samples and hydrogeological surveys and flood risk assessments. and i want the regulations and zoning to be really complex and detailed.

and again, i want this to be set around real-life locations. there should be an option for "present day" mode where you start working with the city as it exists today or "historical" mode for some previous period in the city's history or "free play" more where it's just the blank slate terrain and no development.

and of course you gotta manage natural resources and tax revenue and population growth and population happiness and all that.

if you wanna make it ideal-ideal then there should also be a complex political/government angle too.

and ideal-ideal-ideal there should also be an army/military dimension as well. and actually you should be able to play as city, county, state, or federal governments. all simultaneously (although obviously these different governments should also be able to govern themselves automatically so you're not having to micromanage).

#basically some combination of simcity/cities: skylines and victoria and crusader kings and command: modern air/naval operations #and democracy and honestly you should even be able to open up a business or something or even be a part of a construction crew #so include all those business/management sim games too #and it should be all of those games in one simultaneously #sims too #you should be able to just play as an ordinary dude in a city you build #i want to build my irl city and play as me #and i should be able to do that and rise up the ranks until i'm president #and i should be able to nuke other countries or call in the national guard #and there should be like a civil war/natural disaster/zombie apocalypse scenario #so add in zombie games too #i should be able to build a city and then fight zombies in it like dayz #so i guess my ideal game is all games in one lmao #sorry this got way out of hand #i was originally just going to stick with the city-building stuff but more ideas kept coming to me as i wrote it out #but i will say realistically one game i've always wanted to see was some kind of crusader kings/rome:total war fusion #a game where you play as an individual king/politician and rule your city/kingdom (hyperrealistically)#and very grand strategy oriented #but also with the option to fight battles tactically on the ground like the total war series #or even as an individual soldier #there was this one game i played when i was younger that i was kinda like that and i always thought it was ahead of its time #you could fight these battles in a tactical mode or you could play as an individual hero fighting in the thick of things

makes me feel a bit insane that Britta is seen as being insane and selfish for being upset her parents who she's spent her life trying to get away from are using her friends to stalk her just because she's suffering financially and needs help.

Because I'm terminally allergic to accepting movie canon as canon when it comes to this saga here is my map of Panem drawn from vague memory. The sizes are a bit wonky but I think most larger districts are not fully inhabited either way. I decided that the numbers are given for distance from the Capitol which sadly prevented me from putting district 4 in Florida as my heart desired. I'm soso good at gerrymandering

#we get canon positions for 12 and capitol and we know 12 is tiny 11 huge 2 mountainous and 5 has hydroelectric dams #so that was taken in account + vibes #it made sense to me that 13 might be in the former east coast bc it explains why the former 'center' if it makes sense fell completely out #of prominence if its now nuclear experimentation site #panem seems to no longer have alaska or hawaii. good for them #and i was really undecided if district 1 or district 2 should be mormon country but i guessed 1 fits the vibes more and i want 2 to be the #more dramatically mountainous one #hunger games #op #tbosas

hmmmm idk how i feel about the way the game handles khura'in.... i'll keep playing and observing....
