Join me for a live reading of my international best- selling book, Passion's Pride Alejandro. It's a celebration for Alejandro's Book Birthday! https://www.amazon.com/Passions-Pride-Alejandro-Mahogany-SilverRain-ebook/dp/B086C85JPN The Maya jaguar shifters have lived in the Sonoran Desert of Sonora, Mexico, for hundreds of years away from human eyes. However, the building of a food and bakery manufacturing plant in Alamos, Sonora, owned by Groupo Susteno, a corporation that Rosa Carrillo, head of the Carrillo Cartel in Chihuahua, Mexico, is a board member, threatens their home. She and her twin brother, Javier,a front plan to use it as a front for drug trafficking into the United States. It will make the quiet, colonial town of Alamos, Sonora, one of the safest tourist spots, just as dangerous as Chihuahua, with its high murder count. Regina Hightower is a human conservationist from Tucson, AZ who has a special ability to communicate with animals. When she arrives in Novajoa, Sonora on her way to Alamos for the ten day Alfonzo Tirado Arts and Music Festival, she gets more than she bargains for when a luggage mix up puts her in the crosshairs of three drug coyotes who work for the Carrillo Cartel. They think she has stolen five million dollars in cash from them on purpose. When Alejandro has a premonition of Regina's fight with the drug coyotes from thirty miles away; he rushes to Novajoa to save her. When Alejandro saves her, they go on the run to keep her safe from the cartel and they fall in love. However, when Alejandro's father dies in a shootout with the cartel enforcers and mercenaries, it forces Alejandro to become king. Now that Alejandro is a king, Regina doesn't feel she would make a worthy queen. Can this reluctant jaguar king lead his people, protect his homeland and make Regina, a human, his queen?

I haven't had time to write a proper review so all I'll say is this is better than Mexican Gothic, with a likeable male protagonist. He and the female main character didn't interact till the end, which is a letdown since that was promised but I enjoyed this story. Synopsis: Mexico in the 1970s is a dangerous country, even for Maite, a secretary who spends her life seeking the romance found in cheap comic books and ignoring the activists protesting around the city. When her next-door neighbor, the beautiful art student Leonora, disappears under suspicious circumstances, Maite finds herself searching for the missing woman-and journeying deeper into Leonora's secret life of student radicals and dissidents. #velvetwasthenightnovel #velvetwasthenightsilviamorenogarcia #velvetwasthenightbook #velvetwasthenight #silviamorenogarcia #latinaauthor #latinaliterature #latinalit #latinabook #hispanicliterature #hispanicheritagemonth2022 #latinheritagemonth2022 #guyanesegrammer #guyaneseamericanebookstagrammer #mexicanliterature #mexicanlit #mexicanstory #mexicannoir #noir #historicalfiction #basedontrueevents #historicalfictionnoir #latinnoir #hispanicnoir #ereview #ebookstagrammer #ebook #bookreview https://www.instagram.com/p/CkHtbckrJOF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🍰💐☕️ I spent today walking around Madrid. Read at a cafe and then just browsed through the shops a little. I also got a late birthday present from my dad 🤍: 📕Cinco Esquinas by Mario Vargas Llora who was one of my favorite authors back in college but it’s been a while so I’m happy to revisit his work! 📕La Palabra del Mudo by Julio Ramón Ribeyro which is a collection of short stories. Both are Peruvian authors so I’m really excited to read them! Latin-American literature is always SUCH a treat 🥰 What books have you read by Latin-American authors? . . #bookstagram #dayinthelife #cozy #cozyday #cozybook #books #booksandcoffee #coffeeandbooks #lovebooks #bookstagrammer #bookstagramespaña #bookrecommendations #bookrecs #bookreview #currentread #bookworm #bokish #bookpost #bookphotography #potd #picoftheday #hispanic #hispanicliterature #libros #romantizeyourlife # (at Madrid, Spain) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cnmmz49NV64/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A novel of historical fiction, @kalimaja’s #womanoflight is a multigenerational story about an indigenous Chicano family in the American West. Seer Luz “Little Light” Lopez’s experience in Depression-era Denver, and the earlier family history of Pidre, are largely inspired by Fajardo-Anstine’s own family, according to an interview she gave to PEN America. The audiobook is beautifully narrated by @melinnabobadilla. Most of what Cervantes wrote has obviously been overshadowed by his masterpiece Don Quixote. This is a little look at another important work of his: Novelas Ejemplares, printed in 1613. If you’ve already read the Quixote, this is another great collection of interesting tales. #spanishliterature #literaturaespañola #hispanicliterature #bookstagram #booklover #booknerd #librosantiguos #libros #classicliterature #bookstagrammer (at Madrid, Spain) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC9h8WDpm-k/?igshid=gm34r06lh9ae

Happy Hispanic/Latin Heritage Month to the Hispanic and Latin community! I'm reading 3 Hispanic/Latin books that may or may not change, depending on availability at my local library. My API reads for Asian & Pacific Island Heritage Month changed after some were unavailable so this heritage month's reads might go through the same. First up is Velvet Was the Night by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. This historical fiction thriller set during the '70's in Mexico was all the rave last year, plus its sitting on my TBR so why not finally get to it? It's also a noir so I'm not expecting a happy ending but I hope it's better than Mexican Gothic. My Year in the Middle by Lila Quintero Weaver will be my 1st Middle Grade read as an adult. This story is about an Argentinean tween living in Alabama during the height of segregation; I've never read any stories about non-Black and White POC living in states that practiced segregation, which is why I chose to add it. And finally, Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sánchez. I've heard about this book since I was a child but never read it, so I also added it too. This is a coming of age story about a Mexican teen who's looked down upon by her parents because she's not like her "perfect" sister Olga, however she discovers secrets about Olga after her death which opens up a lot of questions for the protagonist. Which books are on your TBR? #notyourperfectmexicandaughter #myyearinthemiddle #velvetwasthenight #velvetwasthenightnovel #velvetwasthenightsilviamorenogarcia #velvetwasthenightbook #hispanicliterature #hispanicheritagemonth #happyhispanicheritagemonth #hispanicheritagemonth2022 #happyhispanicheritagemonth2022 #latinheritagemonth #latinheritagemonth2022 #happylatinheritagemonth #latinbooks #latinabooks #latinauthors #hispanicbooks #hispanicheritagemonthtbr #latinheritagemonthtbr #hispanicreads #latinreads #latinacharacters #latinacharactersinbooks #ebookstagrammer #bookreviewer #audiobookstagrammer #guyanesegrammer #readersofig #readingcommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CiiwKiZrMyR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
