Home Sweet Home Alone is a 2021 film directed by Dan Mazer, sixth chapter of the Home Alone saga that began with Home Alone.

Agent Buzz McCallister (brother of Kevin McCallister, the protagonist of the original film), arrives, but Pam manages to distract him.

On August 6, 2019, Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger announced that a new film in the Home Alone series, titled Home Alone, was in development. In October, Dan Mazer entered negotiations to direct the film, with a screenplay co-written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell. Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson served as producers.

In April 2020, it was announced that Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McCallister in the first two films, would reprise his role in a cameo appearance; in October 2021, Culkin denied his involvement in the film. In August 2021, it was announced that Devin Ratray, who played Buzz McCallister in the first two films, would appear.

The film was released on Disney+ on November 12, 2021.

On Rotten Tomatoes the film has an approval rating of 15% based on 71 reviews, while on IMDB the film has a rating of 3.6/10 out of 15,649 reviews.

And so I've watched all Home Alone movies.

Of course, nothing can compare to the original Home Alone 1 and 2. It always be one of the classics. All subsequent sequels are miles away from it...

But it doesn't mean all of them are bad. In fact, when I was rewatching Home Alone 3 and 4, I came to conclusion they have some nice elements and as kids movies they work pretty well. Even The Holiday Heist had good qualities and I liked it.

However, Home Sweet Home Alone is bad. It had some good ideas, like the McKenzies and Max's imagination, but it lacks in characterization of the protagonist. And it really wants to be connected to the original but it's superficial and looks more like a cash grab.

Bakugou has a cry in the bathroom and you have to spend the rest of the night consoling him.

head in my hands bc of this, just thought abt bakugo growing out his hair a little bit right after baby's birth...takes him months to go and get a real haircut cuz he doesn't wanna burden you more than he already has and by the time he's okay with the thought (but only for "AN HOUR MAX," is what he says), he has a mullet thing going on and all this scruff on his chin🥺🥺🥺

so he gets home with his regular ol' haircut, maybe a little shorter just to account for ... not wanting to go again so soon, and baby's HOLLERING bloody murder as soon as they see him and refusing to be taken out of your arms, doing that thing where they're flipping their face back and forth to dodge a kiss...

it's so tragic bc not even a little cheek nuzzling helps to calm them bc bakugo's CLEAN SHAVEN and smells like aftershave instead of like dad when he tries!!!!!!

and after, you watch him kinda sulk into the bathroom, thinking like aw yeah thats a bummer but also pretty funny, too (esp bc the haircut does look good🫣🤓), AND HE DOESN'T COME OUT FOR LIKE an hour???

....until you finally have to ask him if he's okay in there and you're opening the door to him sitting on the toilet seat, arms crossed and red cheeks a little streaky with tears...

LJFKASDJFADSJK it's the cutest, most sad sight you ever did see!! ofc Bakugo tries to deny it, but the way he tears up again (after you're done assuring him he did nothing wrong) when his baby finally realizes it's him and smiles (and then how he refuses to give them up again until bedtime) has his ass. EXPOSED.

I saw @dukesnukes ranking his favorite Jasons due to an ask and I gotta hop on that too (☆ω☆) (also follow his profile if you haven't, amazing art!)

I had to really think about this, because don't get me wrong, all Jasons are amazing in their own way! But if I'm choosing favorite ones:

5. That's more of a honorable mention, but I think it still should be highlighted- Vincente DiSanti and his stunt double Bryan Forrest as Jason in Never Hike Alone:

They did an amazing job with the overall movie, absolutely recommend it and their portrayal of Jason is just (´♡‿♡`) (fun fact: DiSanti walked around in silence with the mask on during shooting/off-screen to get used to being a silent character).

4. Jason from part VI:

The mask, the outfit, those gloves- it has always felt to me like Jason was being taken more seriously as a slasher to wear at least some sort of protecting clothing instead of just a jacket and all. Also it just looks cool, c'mon.

3. Freddy vs Jason:

Chef's kiss, beauty and grace, talented, beautiful, scrumptious; they said "we wanted to make it more detailed and realistic" - and they fucking meant it! (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)

2. Remake Jason:

I know people have criticism about this movie- I do too; but you know they ate. They absolutely slayed with this one, they killed it more than Jason killed those campers. Big boy, unit, the most georgous hunk of a man- we all trully got fed in 2009.

And lastly: 1. Burlap sack Jason. Fucking all of them.

I love this design so, so much, my potato sack boi (´꒳`)♡ It feels so much more organic too- I can totally see him either finding it in the woods or stealing it from someone's house/store; it's very easy to make, and even easier to replace in case the previous one is destroyed or misplaced. I obviously love the iconic hockey mask- but this sack trully feels like something a man living alone in the woods would wear, logically.

It will always have a special place in my heart that jumps out pretty much every time I see people portraying him with it (((o(*°▽°*)o)))

I am going to hold off on opening requests for a little while longer, considering how hectic the rest of may is going to be for me. I keep getting thrown these curveballs that keep me busy, unfortunately 😭

In of itself, the scene when Max tells Pam and Jeff that he's all alone in his house, and Pam suddenly feels sorry for him, could be nice, even heartwarming. It could actually be an interesting twist in this franchise and the "bad guys feel bad for the kid" trope has its place for a reason.

The idea behind Home Sweet Home Alone seems to be that neither the protagonist nor the antagonists are entirely good or bad people and due to couple of misanderstandings Max and McKenzies are on the opposite sides...

However, we don't get enough reasons for why we should care about Max. Kevin had his fair share of bratty moments, but you get the sense that he's a sweet kid deep down; there were times when he could be quite endearing. Alex, Finn or other Kevin also were, overall, good kids and had their heroic moments. Max doesn't. And I admit that other Home Alone protagonists had the advantage of dealing with criminals who pose some kind of threat (even though the ones in Holiday Heist didn't do anything bad to Finn and Alexis when they've got to them), but they also had multiple scenes showcasing their good heart (like Kevin in the toy store). Meanwhile Max gets a toy from charity that was supposed to go to less fortunate children.

And the scene when Pam and Jeff say they come for the doll and Max says: "I don't have a doll. I'm ten, what would I do with a doll?" is a cope-out. The McKenzies believe him too easily, not to mention that the viewers saw him taking the doll, so what he has done to it?
